Vocaloid Luka Append

Sorry about that, the link was from the Vocaloid Wikia, I thought it was a confirmation, usually I check. The one time I don't check the link, its false. I had to look myself and I have no translator helper at hand tonight because I've had to do this on short notice. Anyway, sorry for this, my own translations helped me find these twitters, but I am looking for a confirmation. So may I ask regarding these links on twitter - do any/all of them confirm the Luka Append instead?. 94.168.119.106 (talk) 23:35, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

The first and the third links are asking whether Luka is getting an Append version, or if progress is being made to produce one, but are in no way confirming whether one is in fact in production. I'm pretty sure when the second link talks of a "Luka Alpha Version", it's referring to one of her earlier versions when they were developing the software, and doesn't mention an Append version.-- 03:01, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, my own translations bought me nothing. :-) 94.168.119.106 (talk) 17:45, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

Sorry to bother you so soon

This is apparently from the Meaw CD back, erm, I don't suppose you would be kind enough to say what this generally says? If its noting anything useful, I can use it as a reference for the Vocaloid page and for Meaw in general because theres barely a lick of information on them to confirm if their anything vocaloid related. I'm sorry about this, text translators in the Vocaloid fandom are few and far between and the only other person I know who can translate is busy already translating something else right now and I don't want to disturb them until their done. :-( 94.168.119.106 (talk) 21:41, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

Okay. Right at the start it mentions Vocaloid, and another few times. The first line states "A new Vocaloid project CD from the made-up mystery unit Meaw!!" It goes on to say how Vocaloid is a social phenomenon, citing Hatsune Miku for her influence, and goes on to mention a "masked famous illustrator" who drew the illustrators for Meaw. It also mentions that Meaw sings Vocaloid songs. I wouldn't be hasty and say they are Vocaloid, though, just that they're related to the fandom.-- 22:34, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

Wikipedia Ambassador Program is looking for new Online Ambassadors

Hi! Since you've been identified as an Awesome Wikipedian, I wanted to let you know about the Wikipedia Ambassador Program, and specifically the role of Online Ambassador. We're looking for friendly Wikipedians who are good at reviewing articles and giving feedback to serve as mentors for students who are assigned to write for Wikipedia in their classes.

If that sounds like you and you're interested, I encourage you to take a look at the Online Ambassador guidelines; the "mentorship process" describes roughly what will be expected of mentors during the current term, which started in January and goes through early May. If that's something you want to do, please apply!

You can find instructions for applying at WP:ONLINE. The main things we're looking for in Online Ambassadors are friendliness, regular activity (since mentorship is a commitment that spans several months), and the ability to give detailed, substantive feedback on articles (both short new articles, and longer, more mature ones).

I hope to hear from you soon.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 01:39, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

Reverts to my edits

Hi

You changed the text in the article Haruhi Suzumiya with the summary "Episode titles aren't italicized" which is not really very accurate.

The majority of the ones you changed are game titles and are italicised as per MoS.

  • Nihongo|The Promise of Haruhi Suzumiya|涼宮ハルヒの約束|Suzumiya Haruhi no Yakusoku
  • Nihongo|The Perplexity of Haruhi Suzumiya|涼宮ハルヒの戸惑|Suzumiya Haruhi no Tomadoi
  • Nihongo|The Excitement of Haruhi Suzumiya|涼宮ハルヒの激動|Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekidō
  • Nihongo|The Parallel of Haruhi Suzumiya|涼宮ハルヒの並列|Suzumiya Haruhi no Heiretsu
  • Nihongo|The Series of Haruhi Suzumiya|涼宮ハルヒの直列|Suzumiya Haruhi no Chokuretsu
  • Nihongo|The Reminiscence of Haruhi Suzumiya|涼宮ハルヒの追想|Suzumiya Haruhi no Tsuisō

Can you explain to me why you decided to "un-italicise" the Japanese names but leave the English names italicised?

you also italicised the character name, which is against MoS

  • was adapted from the fourth Haruhi Suzumiya novel

Thanks Chaosdruid (talk) 01:12, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

Sure, okay. First, in the {{Nihongo}} template, the latter Japanese titles are automatically italicized, so there's no need to add in the four apostrophe marks around them. Also, Haruhi Suzumiya is italicized in that sentence because we are talking about the series, not the character. This is how we differentiate when we're talking about the Haruhi Suzumiya series (as how the title is shown in the lead), and the character Haruhi Suzumiya. As for my original edit summary, I don't think that should be disputed per normal conventions.-- 01:30, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
Ah so the series is called Haruhi Suzumiya. The nihongo template does some weird things lol - on the template page it clearly shows the first entry displaying as bold, something which does not happen as I am sure it was realised it was against MoS?
The reason I mention the edit summary was that as there was 1 correction to an episode and 6 to game titles, the summary should perhaps have read "Game titles do not need italicising" (as they automatically do it in the template) or something similar. Thanks for that, at least I know that about the template now - something which would have saved me a lot of work and which will help me as I copyedit a lot of manga and anime articles. I suppose I should have noticed it was italicised though before entering edit mode.
Haruhi Suzumiya light novel of the same name - this was confusing as I took it to mean that the light novel being talked about was Haruhi Suzumiya I was unsure as to whether a light novel was the same as a short story but obviously I forgot that the series was the same name as the character - maybe you can tell me how long the novels are and whether they are short stories, true novels (but short ones) or comic books (which are italicised anyway).
Thanks for sharing your knowledge on the template :¬)
Chaosdruid (talk) 01:56, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
The novels may be short, but they're still considered novels, and should be italicized. The novels are generally the size of novellas. Also, I realize I should have put more in that edit summary, but I felt that you would realize as to why I removed the apostrophes from the Japanese titles once you looked at the result, so I didn't feel there was a need to explain something self-explanatory. The same thing goes with italicizing Haruhi Suzumiya based on general Wikipedia conventions. I'm often lazy to write anything at all, having been on Wiki for almost 5 years, or just write in nonsensical (to some) abbreviations on my actions like "ce" for copy edit, "fmt" for formatting, etc.-- 02:21, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for that - and at 60,000+ edits I don't blame you! I already use ce, punct, cr, decap and others and I'm only at 10,000 lol
It is good to actually learn something useful, I think the nihongo tl (see thats another one I have learnt lol) is not something most editors will have come across regularly enough to understand its nuances, and I am grateful for your time explaining it.
Best wishes in reaching 100,000 ! Chaosdruid (talk) 03:06, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

Last-published Dates

It might be useful information in the various publisher's lists to include a column for the last year a particular series had something published in it. There is a sea of red links in the Dengeki Bunko list of published works, and it is not at all clear whether those links are because the potential series in question faded away without going anywhere, or whether they are so new they aren't 'notable' yet. Just a suggestion. It may be too much work for the potential value. --Rpapo (talk) 13:33, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

A better solution would, I suppose, be to delink all the red links until they are notable enough to get a page. I was reluctant to do this when I removed all the author/artist red links, mainly because it's an easy way to see if someone creates an article on a non-notable series, such as what happened with Golden Time (novel), Sword Art Online, and C3 (light novels), all of which I prodded last week and are now deleted. I might also mention that I just prodded Dream Knocker, an article I created a while back.-- 00:11, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

I noticed that you placed a prod tag back on List of Black Rock Shooter characters after someone contested the prod. Once a prod tag is removed from an article, the article is no longer eligible to be deleted by the prod process, and the prod tag cannot be restored (see WP:PROD#Objecting). July

Hi there,

Can you explain what you mean by 'separately' in your edit summary removing the logo from the Angel Beats! article? Furthermore, is there some way it could be incorporated into the article? Because otherwise, the file will need to be deleted as it does not qualify as fair use unless it's actually, you know, used.

Please respond on my talk page so I get an email notice of your response.

Cheers, Mnmazur (talk)

I suppose I see your point. Another alternative I might suggest, considering the list of Angel Beats! episodes already has its own illustrative image, would be to put the logo at Angel Beats!#Media or Angel Beats!#Anime, since the article runs out of illustrative components that far down, and it would, in my opinion, equally compliment either of those sections individually as it would the whole article by being in the infobox.
I'll await your input before doing anything unilaterally. Cheers, Mnmazur (talk)
I'm not entirely sure I follow your second point, as the list of Angel Beats! episodes currently uses a different image than Angel Beats! itself. However, if you think using the logo in the infobox would be acceptable in place of the image that's currently there, and then move or remove that image, that's also fine by me. My main concern is with ensuring compliance with WP:NFCC, as if the logo is not going to be used, it will require deletion, since it's not free content. Mnmazur (talk)
Ah, I see what you're saying. Well, that's too bad. Okay, then; thanks for your help. Mnmazur (talk)

Hi, Juhachi. I am wondering if you can give me your opinion regarding To Heart 2's genre. I decided to go ahead and add the drama and romantic comedy genres to the infobox because of the dramatic elements within each individual route (although the anime probably had people thinking otherwise), but TheFarix reverted my edit with the basis that they are redundant. I figured I probably should ask you with your expertise on other visual novel articles.

On a side note, continuing from a conversation that we had long before, I am wondering if you think it'll be a good idea to start an article for the character HMX-12 Multi from To Heart, which I think may just be able to make it to GA. I was looking for sources for To Heart, and noticed that Multi was a rather popular character back when the series was active. Hiroki Azuma even called her "the most influential character among the male otaku" after Evangelion.[1] -- クラウド668 03:48, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

Problem with a persistent user

Sorry to bother you, but i have a problem with IP User 175.138.152.61 at the List of The World God Only Knows characters. This user keeps insisting that two characters may have a Goddess inside of them despite there is no confirmation and not enough proof that those characters have a Goddess. I keep explaining to this user over why i revert his/her edits, but instead, the user insults me and still edit this unconfirmed information.

I hope you can help me with this problem.

Thank you. --FonFon Alseif (talk) 12:56, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

The first thing you should do is try to settle this on the talk page instead of continuing the edit war. If an admin catches wind of the war, they're liable to protect the page until the dispute can be solved since you've both broken WP:3RR. Invite the IP to discuss it on the talk page, and if that doesn't solve anything, you could get a WP:RFC. I've never seen/read that series, so I can't really comment on the validity of yours or their statements, and I wouldn't feel right jumping into a dispute I'm not apart of. Just explain to the editor that pure speculation without direct confirmation shouldn't be added to Wikipedia based on WP:FANCRUFT. Also, incivility on their part doesn't help their argument, so you should remind them to remain civil.-- 20:36, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

Rewrite

Wonjoon0330

Hello, I added how to unlock all the routes for Rewrite under the Gameplay. Wonjoon0330 (talk) 23:02, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

Memory is a function of the game where various things can be recorded, such as name of the people you've met and quest's you've completed. You can complete the Memory by doing Interactive/Map mode, which sort of serves as side quest of the game. You can think of Memory function as Pokedex in Pokemon games(not really, but similar concept). I didn't add any information about it in the Gameplay, because it's something player becomes aware of in start of the game.

Oppai route is a route that branches off from the Akane's route and can only be unlocked with meeting the requirement upon completing the Terra route. Basically in this route, Oppai(Breast) saves the world. Oppai route probably is the happiest ending of all, and it's another possibility(alternative ending). From possibilities shown in Kagari's map, right side represents Terra route in which Kotarou's existance saves the world while left side represents Oppai route in which world revolution saves the world.

In any case, Terra route is considered as a True Ending of the game while Oppai route is considered as bonus route that contains alternative ending(another possibility). Wonjoon0330 (talk) 03:21, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

Interactive/Map mode is where player can access in-game GPS system to move on to the next event or discover quests or friends to be recorded in Memory. I supposed it's better to call it GPS mode than Interactive/Map mode and yeah, it acts as a mini game as well as side quest, because you do not need to do quests or add friends to be recorded in Memory unless it's required to advance to next event. GPS mode itself works like point and click map(I really can't explain it better but if you google, you'll know what I mean). The reason why I'm calling it side quest is because players are required to meet certain requirement from GPS(Interactive/Map) mode in order to unlock the Oppai route.

P.S. I posted information about GPS mode as well as Memory function under Gameplay. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wonjoon0330 (talkcontribs) 06:09, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

You mean that clock thing? It's not a function. I don't know what you mean by going to alternative world/dimension. I think you're referring to Terra route that takes place in Earth(all the other route that was thought to be takes place in Earth actually takes place in the Moon). Yes, only Kotori, Chihaya, Lucia routes is available in initial play. You must finish Kotori and Chihaya's routes in order to access Sizuru and Akane's routes.

I'm sorry but this will be last time I'll answering to your question regarding Rewrite. I honestly felt that I contributed enough already. I know there's still lots of information that I can contributed to this article such as general terminology as well as information about Guardian and Gaia, but I'm not passionate(not really into Rewrite anymore) enough to write about these kind of information. I still might add about general plot lines for characters in the future(mostly for Kotarou and Kagari).

It seems that you're really dedicated to improve this article. I'm sure sooner or later, there will be people who will contributed a lot to this article and if you have any questions that might help improve this article, you should check out Hongfire or Animesuki forums which has lots of discussion thread about Rewrite. If you're able to read Japanese, I encourage you to check out 2ch or even play the game itself, It's definitely worth it. You could play the game with translating programs, but I really don't recommend it as you'll only get google level of translate and people who played with translator often didn't knew/understand the half of the plot(you can find lots of people like that on the Animesuki forums). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wonjoon0330 (talkcontribs) 19:50, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

Kanji in Rewrite isn't all that bad and it's really easy to figure it out thanks to words connected to hiragana(plus, you only have to read Kotarou's dialogue since other character's dialogue is fully voiced). I myself isn't very good with kanji either and I was able to get through the game no problem till I get to the Moon and Terra routes(sometimes I had to look for some words in Lucia route, but it wasn't all that bad). I'm not sure where you're at with your Japanese, but even with minimal understanding of kanji, you should be able to get through first five routes that will give you the idea of the settings in the game as well as terminologies, so I encourage you to try play the game if you get a chance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wonjoon0330 (talkcontribs) 10:48, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

Rbalzac

As per your recommendation from animesuki, I've signed up to elaborate on some things. The below are complete spoilers of the game, so please erase if you don't want to know.

The mechanics of the story. In the world, there are those who are able to create ("contract") with demons, but these are not the traditional demons. In a sense, they are constructs fueled by the summoner's life force. More skilled summoners are able to create multiple, more complex demons at a time, though this requires a lot of life energy, which taxes their physical conditions greatly. An ancient sect of demon-worshippers called Druids are mentioned. In Rewrite, the secret organization Gaia, under the auspices of green conservation groups, are peopled by many who are able to craft demons.

Then, there are the superhumans, "ESPers" who possess special powers. Their powers awaken mostly in childhood. This is where the other organization in the game, Guardian, comes in. They are an organization dedicated to the destruction of demons and is composed almost entirely of these superhumans. It is shown how they actively recruit those who show promise of their powers. According to the story, it is possible to lose the superhuman status, and this will be explained below.

Anyone can be a demon summoner, however Gaia demands a certain nihilism in its members. Through exhaustive tests, the individual must be determined to disregard their lives for the sake of the world, that is to say, they have a hatred for humankind in general. As the manipulation of demons requires a lot of energy, only those who are willing to forsake it are allowed in.

The superhumans of Guardian are driven by a purpose to improve themselves, to become like the "heroes" of antiquity. However, this is a highly individualistic notion, and in a communal group like Guardian, it sometimes becomes hard to be that kind of hero. That is why there are some times that the person is disillusioned, and are sometimes stripped of their powers. Guardian members who are stricken are dismissed from service.

Most of the above are gleaned from the Terra route, though bits and pieces of information could also be gleaned from the heroine routes. Gaia and Guardian are said to have waged a secret war under many disguises, though it is only in the modern times that the conflict has escalated. Most of the hullaballoo in Rewrite involves the phenomenon of the "Key": otherwise known as Kagari.

Kagari is a special type of demon, born from the will of the star. (the game constantly refers to it as star, but I take it to mean the Sun) Whenever it appears, ruin and disaster is soon to follow, triggered by "bad memories". These memories come from warfare, ecological devastation and other destructive tendencies done by humans. A Kagari's first purpose is to sing the song of ruin. As shown in Sizuru route, singing the song means the entire sublimation of the human race, reducing all intelligent life on Earth to nothingness. Gaia has an interest in acquiring Kagari wherever it is seen to trigger the Ruin, while Guardian will stop at nothing to destroy the Key. Kagari has been glimpsed all over the world, and in the past instances, total warfare has occurred, sometimes involving the use of nuclear weapons. The latest sighting has been in Kazamatsuri City.

The Kagari of Terra explains that it has brought ruin many times before, it was said to be responsible for the death of the dinosaurs. To connect to its second purpose, a Kagari can initiate re-evolution, restarting the process of evolving another means of intelligent life. This exerts the planet's energies, and by the time the events of Rewrite occur, the planet no longer has any more energy to do another re-evolution.

Some things about the characters: (spoilers)

Tennouji Kotarou is a superhuman, with the power to restructure and modify any part of his body to be faster, stronger, etc. It's shown how he can manipulate his own blood to be poisonous or lash out as solid spikes. His parents are researchers at the nearby Myrtle Association. As a child, he was distanced from his classmates because of his skill at the various sports tourneys (due to his "Rewriting" ability) Due to his solitude, he has developed a resentment towards society, though he always pushes himself to the limit with his powers by challenging the unique species of animals in the forests surrounding Kazamatsuri. He was recruited into Guardian where he came under Sougen Esaka's tutelage. In the "first timeline" preceding the heroine routes, he became a minor soldier assigned to Kazamatsuri, where he is tasked to be surveillance to search for the "Key". Flouting orders, he ends up being entangled in a skirmish between Gaia and Guardian in the nearby forest. In the aftermath, he encounters the Key and is seriously injured.

Kotori Kanbe was a sort of genius as a child, and it was enough to have Myrtle attempt to recruit her as a future researcher. However, she disagrees with most of the Association's ideals and refuses. She becomes acquainted with Kotarou during her elementary days (Kotarou was high school)in this way, although she never respects him and acts stubbornly to him. She later softens up when Kotarou retrieves her pet dog Pero when it runs away. Along the way on a trip, the Kanbes' car ends up in an accident, falling into the forest. Only Kotori survived, being saved by the Kagari. She acquired her ability to control demons then, becoming like the Druid sect mentioned before, which revered nature and protected the Kagari by the use of demons. In this way, she was able to turn her parents into her demons at the price of always having to protect the Kagari in the forest.

More to come later if I get time, and if this turns out to be alright with you. --Rbalzac (talk) 10:44, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

That's a lot of great info and much appreciated. I also know that most of Rewrite occurs on the moon, so explaining why that is would be great too.-- 20:40, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

I would like to comment on the Oppai route in the article. It's not a true route, per se, nor is it an alternate ending. I would interpret it to be more of a joke route, an Easter Egg if you will. If you are familiar with Little Busters!, I would liken it to the secret muscle ending, and in Rewrite it branches off from Akane's route as it did Kudo's. Just a minor nitpick.

Akane Senri was developmentally challenged as a child, and so spent her early childhood in a daycare center affiliated with the Myrtle Association. By developmentally challenged, I mean that she had difficulty articulating words. (must be a cognitive defect of some sort) She met Kotarou by chance when the daycare matron asked him to look after her during a lecture in the Myrtle Association. Over the years she gradually developed her intelligence as she became an important figure in Gaia's ranks. (In the original timeline)

Chihaya Ootori's parents were demon users affiliated with Gaia. They were killed in a Guardian raid, and she was the only one who survived. Drawing on her demon manipulation powers, she summons Sakuya, a demon sealed in a sakura tree. She possesses inhuman strength.

Sizuru Nakatsu is an ESPer with the ability to manufacture panacea from her body and inflict various forms of amnesia on people. She can also produce a mist that is harmful to demons. She hails from a poor family with household problems. She was discovered during a Gaia/Guardian skirmish in Kazamatsuri. Before she left for Guardian, she erased her parents' memories of herself. She was taken under the wing of Nishikujou Touka, and in the original timeline, she becomes one of the best agents of Guardian in Japan.

Lucia Konohana is an ESPer, with the ability to produce harmful soundwaves in the air. Another type of power was created in her when she participated in a simulation experiment where the participants had to experience what life would be like on Earth a thousand years in the future. As it was theorized to be a harsh, unlivable place, chances of survival were slim, and only Lucia survived, somehow acquiring the power to debilitate or poison any living thing by touch. Her former name was Asahi Haruka. She is close friends with Sizuru, as the latter is the only one who could survive coming in contact with Lucia due to her powers.

I'll cover other character miscellany later. Now a brief overview of events. In the "original" timeline, Kotarou was injured by Kagari in the forest, where Kotori saved him from the brink of death through her druidic powers. He lapsed into a coma, and was deemed unable to return to Guardian work. An amnesiac drug is administered, and he starts life over as a student in Kazamatsuri with a new personality. (It is implied that it was Sizuru who created the drug) In his high school life, many things happen, and the events of the heroine route in Rewrite take place.

Kotarou, retaining his curiosity of the "UMAs" in the forests, forms a group from the Occult Research Society, roping in all five heroines to join, and they spend fun, peaceful times together uncovering the mysteries of Kazamatsuri. The player is unable to uncover all secrets in one playthrough, though there is no restriction as to what can be discovered first. Furthermore, there are some scenes and quests that can be discovered only after completing the Terra route. After branching into any of the heroine routes, an impression the player gets is hopelessness, somehow, no one comes out unscathed.

Kotori's whereabouts in the endings are unknown, and the worst is implied in routes where the Kagari is captured, and in her own ending even, her whereabouts aren't stated. Chihaya's route explains most of the bulk of the nature of demons, and of Sakuya's true status as a demon. Lucia delves into the dark side of Guardian, and even if she has the "happiest" ending out of the three, she would never be truly free, though her cursed power has been diminished. The machinations of Gaia are successful in Sizuru's route, and Ruin is initiated. In Akane's route, Ruin is averted by the killing of the Kagari, though the demands of the sect in Gaia force her to initiate the man-made "ruin", whereby Gaia members all over the world exert their energies to bring about a frenzy in nature, causing rampant natural disasters to occur.

And in all this, nothing is resolved about the primary dilemma of Earth. It is said in Lucia's route that Earth would fall into ruin sooner or later through human hands, turning barren and nigh-unlivable even if the Kagari is killed. On the other hand, were Ruin to occur, then humans are still lost, with no possibility of re-evolution occurring. Earth becomes a barren land with no evolved, intelligent life. Kotarou, or the players are left to wonder if something can be done to change all that, or at least bring balance to everything.

Players enter Moon route with that question in mind. A disembodied Kotarou finds a Kagari trying to do something that at first seems incomprehensible. It's shown that he is a conglomeration of all Kotarous in the past, or at least, of most of the timelines where the Earth comes into ruin one way or another. He has "experienced" all possibilities, and even has memories of routes that aren't shown; like Gaia being utterly annihilated, him becoming a Guardian elite, and even marrying some other unknown woman and living an uneventful life. But one thing is certain; the earth is ruined. Through multiple resets, Kotarou manages to understand what this Kagari is doing, trying to discover the clue that would solve everything, through a winding web of possibilities.

Moon may be said to occur in the moon, but I take it to mean a sort of metaphysical space somewhere in the moon. The appearance of the Kagari here means that the Sun is concerned about the fate of its intelligent life. Supposedly then, a solution is found by the Kagari in the Moon, coinciding with the arrival of legions of demons sent by Kashima Sakura from the other timelines (who was the head of Gaia and Akane's predecessor). Past reflections of everyone Kotarou knows, from Guardian to Yoshino to the friends he's made to the heroines of the Occult Research group are summoned to buy the Kagari time to execute the solution.

The following sentence is speculation, as even Terra route has no definite statement to this. The following Terra route could be said to be time travel, sending Kotarou back in time so he could "Rewrite", correcting the mistakes that lead to ruin. There are other theories, but I won't bog this down here. Suffice to say, in Terra, the player or Kotarou has a second chance to Rewrite everything.

At the start, it all follows the original timeline following Kotarou's life. Choices are presented but they are only meant to imply the presence of the all-guiding "flame" that urges Kotarou to a choice, and the other choices are hence blanked out and impossible to select. Then, at the divergence, at the only set of choices that don't have others blanked out, this Kotarou must make a choice. Choosing the wrong one will irrevocably lead to the heroine route, and to Ruin, while choosing the right one leads to the solution. This choice occurs on the first time Kotarou meets Kagari in the forests, when he flouts direct orders to participate in the Guardian/Gaia skirmish. Afterwards, he experiences many things that make him question his place in Guardian(who go so far as annihilating even children who are in anyway connected to demons). After meeting with the Kagari of the Earth again and hearing her aims, Kotarou begins a two-fold action against both prominent groups, all for the sake of Kagari. Using his powers, he demolishes Gaia and Guardian's infrastructure in Kazamatsuri, double-crossing everyone in turn.

It is said how he may have erred or been too late; the man-made Ruin was still initiated, and Kotarou is still forced to kill Kagari. But he has at least reached the midpoint, or a balance between two extremes. Humanity survived, and the secret technology developed by both Guardian and Gaia was disseminated by Kotarou to them, urging in another "era of myth" where heroes and demons exist, but now humanity can still continue to strive for the future.

In Terra route, Kagari says that the intention of the star has been so that its "children" could "come meet it", that is to say, head to outer space. Being an intelligent life, rapidly growing in number, it feels that Earth cannot accommodate humanity for long, and hopes that it may go beyond. However, the intrigues of Guardian and Gaia leaves it in a state of stagnation, as technology is developed to instead cause destruction on each other. That's a short summary of what I understood from Kagari's words.

Some notes:

Alternate Dimension - In the common route, Kotarou sometimes finds himself in an alternate dimension of Kazamatsuri where everything is blank and silent. This is one of Gaia's inventions, a "Secret world" where demons are free to roam, and a sufficient ecosystem exists to support life. It is utilized in Akane's route, serving as one of the bastions of humanity left after the man-made ruin is initiated. There are many entrances to this dimension, and Kotarou, having a high affinity with demons, accidentally gets into them many times.

Aurora - Aurora is a power gifted to Kotarou after he is saved by the druidic powers of Kotori. It manipulates his energy to form any kind of weapon, be it a claw, or sword. It also makes him into a half-demon like existence, also causing his aging to slow down. (This is why he looks just like a high schooler even if he's older than the heroines.) In Akane route, he becomes more a demon, turning the green Aurora into a beast. Aurora is connected to Kagari, and is the energy which is drawn out when a Kagari initiates re-evolution and ruin.

Rewrite (dial thing on below-left) - as said before, it is another of Kotarou's powers. Drawing on his own lifeforce, he manipulates his body to become stronger, faster, etc. However, it comes with a price; he is permanently changed, and continued usage would make him into something inhuman altogether. In Chihaya route, Kotarou rewrites his mind to the point that he becomes a berserker. The dial itself has no effect in the story, only moving or rotating when Kotarou rewrites himself. However, in the common route, some scenes are determined if Kotarou is at a certain level of "Rewriting". The player must have chosen previous choices that urged Kotarou to change himself more. These scens, as far as I know, have no influence on determining Heroine routes. In connection with Aurora, it is shown towards the end of Terra that continued manipulation of his blood evolves it to the point that Kotarou can no longer use his blood to fight, as it has morphed into the green energy of Aurora.

Sizuru's eyepatch - as she states herself, she wears it so as not to unnerve other people, she only shows off her heterochromia to people she trusts.

Lucia's indifference to hot foods - due to the experiment, Lucia has been inured to most sensations, and one of these is her sense of taste.

Oppai Route - able to be entered once players have finished Terra route and unlocked all or most events, monsters and friends in the Memory Log. Once conditions are met, the player must go through the common route as if they were aiming for Akane, and make particular choices and uncover Mystery Events such that Akane loses a bet she made with Kotarou at the start of the game. Then, the player has to make a series of choices to uphold the "love for breasts" and in the final choice, Kotarou has to decide that he will Rewrite the world in the image of breasts.

Yoshino Haruhiko - dislikes arrogant people and hypocrites. Has an intense rivalry with Kotarou, feeling that he should be overcome. It is shown all throughout the game that he is altogether normal, though his status as "Mad Dog" has drawn to him many delinquents as followers. Kotarou saved young Yoshino as a child from bullying, and it is shown how Yoshino used to be an obedient, average child. However, Kotarou's indifferent and entirely contrary answers to his view of what a "strong man" should be, like being polite to parents, or attending class regularly, affects him, and it is implied that this is how Yoshino's mindset came to be. In the common route, he is the butt of many of Kotarou's jokes, mostly owing to his misuse of the English language and his overly serious renegade persona. It culminated in a commercial that Kotarou made just for Yoshino.--Rbalzac (talk) 22:11, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

Request

Would you be able (and willing) to provide me with some ideas for userboxes for Rewrite? - Penwhale | dance in the air and follow his steps 09:38, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

Having never played the game and only learning about it from spoilers (see long sections above), I really wouldn't know what to put in a userbox for it. I would imagine things like "This user is a member of Gaia" or "This user is a Guardian" would be two obvious ones, or even "This user is a member of the Occult Research Society". It might be a little early to think about userboxes, though I'm not saying not to make one.-- 09:49, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
I see. For the record; Lucia route isn't actually initially available. (I own the game - limited edition, in fact) - Penwhale | dance in the air and follow his steps 09:58, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

Category renaming

Hi Juhachi. I saw your request at WP:RM to rename Category:Manga and anime based on novels. Unfortunately, due to the MediaWiki software, categories can't be renamed like all other namespaces and therefore shouldn't be listed at RM. The correct location is WP:CFD/S (for speedy renaming of categories). I have listed Category:Manga and anime based on novels and Category:Manga and anime by source using your rationale from RM. If they are uncontested for 2 days, then a bot will process the request. Cheers, Jenks24 (talk) 00:55, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

Restore page about Yuyuko Takemiya's "Golden Time" light novel series?

Apart from the fact that there are now three books in the series (or will be in two days), I was today informed that in mid-September they (Dengeki Bunko) will start serializing a manga based on the series in Dengeki Daioh magazine. I seem to recall that one of the criteria for the work to be considered "notable" was for such spinoffs to start happening. I still have no idea just how popular the series is in Japan, and frankly, the manga is still a future thing. I don't want to try to restore the page unless you guys approve, as I don't want to be deemed a nuisance and have my current freedoms restricted. In any case, the Japanese, Spanish, Russian and Korean versions of the article continue to exist peacefully. --Rpapo (talk) 21:50, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

And like I said, the standards on the English Wikipedia are much stricter than any of the other wikis. As far as notability is concerned, the article has to meet the WP:GNG, which is usually satisfied when an anime adaptation is announced, per WP:OUTCOMES#Broadcast media point 4. Having merely a manga adaptation is often not enough.-- 23:46, 8 August 2011 (UTC)
Just checking. There are about 400 people (judging by the page hit counts) following the translation I've been doing of the first book on Baka-Tsuki. Not that the translation is of professional quality by any means, but interest is there. --Rpapo (talk) 23:56, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

Linking to interwiki on project talk page

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Japan&diff=446929706&oldid=446910832

Well, on WikiProject Canada editors decided that not only do they need interwiki links on the main page, but they also need to interwiki specifically the French Wikipedia project talk page from the English Wikipedia talk page, and vice vetsa (See Wikipedia talk:Canadian Wikipedians' notice board). After seeing that, I got an idea.

I added a link to the Spanish talk page of the United States WikiProject from the English talk page of the equivalent (Spanish is the no. 2 language of the United States), and that was kept as a "see also". I decided to try adding equivalents to various country Wikiprojects.

There needs to be a link to the project talk page of the Japanese Wikipedia from the talk page of the English Wikipedia to make it easier to go from one talk page to another talk page, especially to help inexperienced users. WhisperToMe (talk) 21:28, 27 August 2011 (UTC)

If you must do that, then write the link in English. Doesn't really help anyone who can't read Japanese.-- 21:29, 27 August 2011 (UTC)
Alright - So I added English in this revision: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Japan&diff=447038498&oldid=447038443 WhisperToMe (talk) 21:37, 27 August 2011 (UTC)
I still don't see why the Japanese text needs to be there. It looks horrible italicized anyway.-- 21:38, 27 August 2011 (UTC)
The original Canadian example used French on the English talk page and English on the French talk page - maybe to mirror how interwiki links from page to page are in the destination language rather than the origin language - I removed the italicizing of the Japanese text by "double-italicizing' which cancels out. The seealso2 template forces italicizing, but adding '' around something cancels out the italicizing. WhisperToMe (talk) 22:15, 27 August 2011 (UTC)

If you think the article is "non notable" and should not be kept, please take it to WP:AFD. Vivio TestarossaTalk 23:33, 27 August 2011 (UTC)

Adding a Print Screen Source to Wikipedia for Episode 01 of ましろ色シンフォニー -Love is pure white-

Hello Juhachi-san,

I have a print screen of テレビ愛知 with the date and time of the first broadcasting of ましろ色シンフォニー -Love is pure white- as I did not know how to archive a website to ensure that cited webmaterial will remain available to readers in the future.

The print screen I have taken from テレビ愛知 is in PNG format.

Is there a way in which I can make this PNG available to Wikipedia so that it can be used a source for the both the date of broadcasting and first television broadcaster to air the anime?

Could you tell me how?

Thank you. --Densebrains (talk) 17:22, 9 November 2011 (UTC)

I am really sorry for my error. I just took a swift look at the history and made a hasty decision based on that. Really, I don;t know why I keep on making this mistake. I will re-look at the nomination again later. Many apologies.--Lionratz (talk) 04:44, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
By the way, I was not the one who reviewed Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate, so please do not put the blame on me. Thanks.--Lionratz (talk) 04:53, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

Last Exile Sequel article was created without dicussion.

Previously, the article to the anime Last Exile and it's sequel, Last Exile: Fam, The Sliver Wing were both located at the same page. But User Squirrellyboy created and redirected the Last Exile: Fam, The Sliver Wing section to it's own article without notice or discussing in the Last Exile Talk page. Should this kind of action be allowed without everyone's approval? And is it necessary to create another article for the Last Exile sequel when both shows share the same plot, settings and characters? I hope you can look into this this.

PS: I tried contacting Squirrellyboy about this matter but there has been no response.--FonFon Alseif (talk) 10:31, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

DASHBot

Out of purest curiosity, seeing as you have been a victim of DASHBot too, by what criteria does it drop a graphic from one page but not another? Though as near as I can tell, the criteria for posting the scanned cover art of Toradora is the same for Golden Time. The only difference I can see is that it appears the image posted on the Toradora page was imported from another web site, whereas the image posted on the Golden Time page was self-scanned. Same size, same (degraded) quality, so theoretically the same "fair use" qualification, right? Or wrong? FWIW, the "Golden Time" page is not in the main wiki. I discovered several weeks after the fact that a friend and ally had recreated the page in his user space, unbeknownst to me. I found it in Google, and have since kept it up to date. I wasn't going to restore the page until you guys told me it was OK. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rpapo (talkcontribs) 23:23, 23 December 2011 (UTC)

You can't have fair-use images in userspace. A bot searches for these and removes them.-- 23:37, 23 December 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the quick response. It seems strange to me that they would be more stringent about user space than about public space, but they set the rules... --Rpapo (talk) 23:48, 23 December 2011 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Altima (band), and it appears to include material copied directly from http://rateyourmusic.com/list/TheScientist/rym_ultimate_box_set__trance.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.
