Postcards[edit]

Hi Rendegad, welcome to Wikipedia! That's great that you're interested in adding a historical image of a building. Uploading images can involve dealing with complicated questions of copyright and the public domain, but it's worthwhile, and I'm happy to try to help.

The first step is to head over to Wikimedia Commons, because that's the centralized library for most images on Wikipedia. Start with the Upload Wizard and follow its instructions! After initial upload, you'll get questions about the copyright status. Based on what you said, you should be able to select "The copyright has definitely expired in the USA" and "First published in the United States before 1928".

After you upload the image to Wikimedia Commons, you can go to Muehlebach Hotel and insert the image, following these instructions.

Then just keep an eye on your email inbox in case anyone on Wikimedia Commons has questions for you about the copyright status of the image or challenges its public domain status. They would most likely comment on your "talk" page on the Wikimedia Commons site, not this Wikipedia talk page.

Please do try this and let me know how it goes! Dreamyshade (talk) 23:18, 17 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
