Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to P. T. Barnum. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. Hi Cnyssen, belated welcome to Wikipedia! I'm glad you're interested in working on articles here. Wikipedia does have some pretty strong guidelines about conflict of interest (Wikipedia:Conflict of interest), so it's best to avoid adding or modifying citations and links to your own work. If something is incorrect about an existing citation, or if you want to recommend a link to your work, you can post on the "talk" page for the article to suggest a specific change, so that a non-affiliated editor can review it and make the change for you.

However, there are lots of articles related to tattoo history that need fact-checking and expansion, and it's great to help out with that by making edits with references to sources you're not affiliated with.
