But serious answer (according to Yahoo Answers): "Cats like earwax because of the scent of animal proteins and the fatty acids found in earwax."

I have no idea if this is true or not, but it sounds true so I'm going to say that it's true. Don't quote me on it, though.

Someone told me just a week ago that cats can't "taste" in the traditional sense, rather, they "sense" the nutrients and proteins within the food. Basically if you give a cat the choice between "healthy" food and some junk brand they're more than happy to eat what's best for them.
