Got lost in all the code, calculations, and lack of summary. Is there a conclusion that I missed?

First line of the writeup wasn't enough?

Where do you get zeo replacement sensors?

At the moment, you don't. The day I heard Zeo Inc was going out of business, I ran to Amazon and bought a pack of replacement headbands before they ran out. I'll be sad when I've used them up, but fortunately they seem to last for a long time with reasonable data quality if you clean them. (See also the discussion about coping in https://forum.quantifiedself.com/thread-zeo-shutting-down-export-your-data )

Would you (or anyone else) be interested in a small, cheap Zeo replacement? Or a more expensive-but-better system?

I have some experience with EEG hardware and machine learning, and am half-considering putting together a prototype sleep tracker.

I would definitely be interested, but hardware is hard (look at all the Kickstarter problems) and I'd be a bit skeptical anyone could succeed.

No. AFAIK all that's left now are various accelerometer gadgets. There's the Neurosky as an outside possibility but no idea how well it'd actually work or if you could get one.

Wouldn't a Zeo and headbands cost a fortune on ebay by now?

After a cursory Google search, I saw some qualms about inconsistent readings.

It always worked well for me and I've been happy with it, but I have very normal sleep.

edit: There's this (uses an EEG sensor), which is coming out soon. The company did a kickstarter campaign. Should be interesting to see the reviews.

Will it have the battery life or software for sleep? I don't see any mention of sleep applications on the homepage, at least.

8 hours isn't enough for sleep (putting it on, falling asleep, sleep, wake up, usually takes >8hrs even for people who technically sleep only 7 hours), so you'd lose all the wakeup data which is half the value. Maybe a followup model would work better.

I seemed to get weird headaches when taking Magnesium Citrate tablets (630mg). This happened 3 out of 3 times taking them, and so I haven't tried any more since.

Having said that, I did get some good work done.

        Has any else experienced this?

Did you try taking half a tablet?

        [–]androo87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the idea to try, but the tablets seemed a little awkward to divide. I've just ordered some powder instead.
