I can't find a publication date for this postcard. The (alleged) source website gets a Google warning if you click on it that it contains malware, so I'm not going there. I found this postcard used at http://www.oocities.org/athens/2088/hospital.htm but no date was given. Unless someone who has seen the original can attest that it is pre-1923, I don't know that we can make that determination. B (talk) 11:26, 15 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep - the web archive version [1] of the now lapsed domain has the same content by the same author as the link B provided. On the master page he claims that the the postcards are "Circa 1898 - 1913". From what I can see online he seems to be an authority on the subject, he has written articles for American Philtelist (the latest entry I can find is in the January 2012 edition). I think based on this that the postcard can be regarded as sufficiently old. Peripitus (Talk) 09:15, 25 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

File:Alice In Wonderland 1933 film.jpg (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by Peregrine Fisher (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).

The screenshot is used in the reception section of Alice in Wonderland (1933 film) . The screenshot used to be in the infobox until the poster was added to the article, [2], in March 2014. The reception section is about the film being a flop and about live-action versions of Alice in Wonderland and The Wizard of Oz. There is no critical commentary of the image itself in the section, it does nothing to increase the reader's understanding of the film and its exclusion is not detrimental to the understanding of the film, thereby failing WP:NFCC#8. Orphaned image that was removed from Milford Track, the article to which it was added, with this edit way back in 2009 by User:Ingolfson. The edit summary was: "Removing - if you look closely, you can see a road and a "Real experience" bus to the left in the picture. There is NO road anywhere near the track that can carry such a bus." Since there is doubt as to whether this image truly depicts what it says it does (Milford Track River), I don't see this as a viable candidate for the Commons. Mz7 (talk) 20:11, 15 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Well, that's obviously State Highway 94, better known as the Milford Sound Highway. It's how you get to the Milford Track. There is no such thing as the "Milford Track River", and given that SH94 crosses a couple of watersheds, this could be one of several rivers (my guess would be the Hollyford, but it's just a guess). With the uploader not having been active in six years, we probably won't find out exactly where the photo was taken. There are tons of free photos on flickr of the scenery along SH94, so I'd say we go flickr mining and ditch this particular photo. Schwede66 21:24, 15 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Very low quality image of the letter T in a rounded black square. I can't make out any encyclopedic use of this image that would make it eligible for transfer to the Commons. It's not used in any articles. Mz7 (talk) 20:44, 15 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It says: 'Protected by copyright, therefore a free use alternative won't exist.' This seems to be an incorrect conclusion. The fact that this drawing is copyrighted doesn't seem to rule out the possibility that there exist other drawings which aren't copyrighted. The articles suggest that many similar parodies were published at numerous United States publications from the 1930s, and there is no explanation as to why there wouldn't be any such parodies which were published without notice or renewal. Stefan2 (talk) 23:34, 15 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I did some fresh research and can report that it is now public domain & the quoted tag is incorrect. The cartoon was drawn by Vaughn Shoemaker in 1935 and published in the Chicago Daily News with a the 28 year copyright. The copyright expired in 1963 and was not renewed according to the U of Pennsylvania guide which states: "Chicago Daily News: no issue copyright renewals found in CCE or registered works database".
