Hi Loadmaster, have you seen WP:RED? This redlink already exists - see WP:REDYES. I understand by your comment [1] that you consider redlinks never acceptable. Can you explain? Thanks Widefox; talk 22:10, 6 January 2014 (UTC)

Apologies. No, I had not seen WP:RED; I was simply going off of numerous edits I've seen in the past that removed redlinks. Also, I was in vandalism-removal mode, so perhaps I was a bit overzealous in "correcting" edits. Feel free to revert. I am a bit confused, though, when you say that the redlink already exists; where is it? Do you mean at Skipjack (cipher) and LEAF? — Loadmaster (talk) 18:33, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
- That's OK. Yes at Skipjack (cipher), the dab just mirrors the article(s) so doesn't count. I've come from cleaning up the dab, so I had to make a decision as to the redlink being worthy. You may want to spread the word about not removing worthy redlinks, maybe revisit them? Regards Widefox; talk 00:28, 8 January 2014 (UTC)

Please read the 1. Reference in detail IBM System/360 Principles of Operation, IBM Publication A22-6821-6, Seventh Edition (January 13, 1967), pp.41-50
on page 42 first sentense is: "A number with zero characteristic, zero fraction, and plus sign is called a true zero.
The definitions like NAN and INF may be not in the original IBM/360 Design. But in the latest at the IBM/390 Design these values are defined. Because of this article is about the "IBM Floating Point Architecture" these values are relevant.

- The differences between IBM and IEEE floating-point formats are mentioned in the lede and at the end of the article. The article specifically discusses the IBM S/360 floating-point format (see the first sentence of the lede), which does not have representations for infinity and not-a-number values. The comparisons to IEEE in the article, as well as the mentions of the other formats supported by IBM hardware, are sufficient to cover this point. — Loadmaster (talk) 18:16, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
- This article is used in several other pages. In my eyes makes sence to describe in this article, that the support for floating point numbers have changed over time. Or do you think this should be reflected on an other page ? Wingsofcourage (talk) 16:49, 25 February 2014 (UTC)
- Feel free to make any text clearer. Just be sure to keep the distinction between the older IBM S/360 FP formats and the newer IEEE formats. But I still think that the "IEEE 754 on IBM mainframes" section is enough. — Loadmaster (talk) 22:18, 25 February 2014 (UTC)
