Information icon Hello, I'm Andrewrp. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions —the one you made with this edit to Religion in the United Kingdom— because it didn’t appear constructive to me. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. AndrewrpTally-ho! 01:07, 13 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to gender-related disputes or controversies or people associated with them, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Please have a look also at the information at this page, which appears every time you edit J. K. Rowling. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 11:11, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I appreciate your input into this matter but what I posted isn’t a matter of opinion but rather fact. So it’s not about being contentious. If it was there would not be a whole article on the Cass Review on WKPD. Rowling did in fact tweet that and that was the report she was talking about. I never stated whether she’s right or wrong. I felt the information on her profile was more imbalanced towards her opposition which I think is not proper for a Wikipedia article. So I wanted to put out something she herself said and something that was commissioned by UK’s health agency. Lisha2037 (talk) 11:34, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Leonardo DiCaprio, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Elle. It’s not copyrighted or plagiarized since I have references and credited by saying it’s on their website and added it between quotations, clearly showing that it’s not in my own words. You can say that it could have been reworded or made into a shorter quote, which is valid. Lisha2037 (talk) 08:07, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This warning wasn't about the quote- and you may consider it stricken, since I didn't realize you were re-adding material that had been in an earlier version of the article, and then citing it to a site that had copied Wikipedia.(Which, by the way, isn't a good idea.) However, I did have to remove a few other edits you made, since they closely paraphrased the sources you cited. I would recommend reading that page, since avoiding close paraphrasing is really important.
