Party Crashers is a collaborative Let's Play group channel on YouTube consisting of four members: King of Skill (Brent), TCNick3 (Nicolas, but usually just goes by Nick for short), Vernias (Carnig, but usually just goes by Vernias or Vern for short), and Sophist (Noah, but usually goes by either Sophist or Eevee, as his username used to be "Sophisticated Eevee").
While the four of them have been on YouTube for quite awhile and have had various videos of them playing together, along with other YouTubers, it wasn't until 2023 when the quartet established this new channel specifically for videos of the four of them playing together, as well as establishing an official name for the group as a whole by extension.

Party Crashers, as well as the four individual channels it's collaborated from, contain examples of:
Tropes with their own pages:
- Accidental Murder: In their third Lethal Company video, Nick accidentally kills Vernias by repeatedly pushing him into a wall, much to everyone's bewilderment:Nick: What the fuck did I even do, bro?! [...] Vernias, I didn't know I could kill you!
- Actually Pretty Funny: In "Mario Party 3 broke us all...", Sophist ends up rolling two 1s with a Double Dice, after having just rolled two 10s on the previous turn. While he is still upset about having low rolled, he does admit that he still finds it rather humorous, especially since he even called rolling two 1s:Sophist: I hate this outcome, but it's still freaking funny!
- Adaptational Curves:
- The thumbnail◊ for "I Made a Mario Party Challenge for my Birthday..." depicts Princess Daisy with larger breasts than she usually does in the Mario series.
- When Nick receives the prompt to draw himself dying in Lethal Company in their second Gartic Phone video, he draws himself getting surrounded by Coil-Heads with significantly larger butts than in the original game◊.
- Added Alliterative Appeal: Discussed in "Mario Party but SECOND Wins", where the crew (excluding Vernias) find "Vern Virus" so funny due to having alliteration. Vernias tries to get back at them by creating "Nick Nitochondria" and "Brent Bronchitis", both of which fall flat. The "Brent Bacteria" was more successful though, with the variants for Nick and Sophist often cited as the "Nick Nausea" and "Sophisticated Sickness" respectively.
- Admiring the Abomination: In their second Lethal Company video, Nick can't help but admire the defined rear end of a Coil-Head (one of the most dangerous monsters in the game) once he gets a good close-up view, much to Brent's exasperation:Nick: Bro, he is caked up! Damn, girl!
Brent: SHUT THE FUCK UP AND MOVE! - All Crimes Are Equal: In "Mario Party but we're Trapped in PRISON", Brent debates on whether to steal a Star from Nick or Vernias when he visits the Boo. He brings up how in "I got bullied in Mario Party 2...", Vernias cursed him to roll between 1-3 for one turn, which sent him over the edge, while Nick was obnoxiously more toxic than usual. Nick quickly says that this makes him and Vernias even, to which Vernias angrily points out how that doesn’t make any sense.
- All for Nothing: In "The WORST Board in Mario Party 1...", Nick throws the co-op minigame Running of the Bulb to ensure no one (including Sophist) would receive any coins, as Sophist would’ve had enough to steal a Star from Brent, putting Nick in dead last. But despite his efforts, Nick still ends up in last place, as Sophist manages to overtake him in 3rd place through coins.
- The Artifact: In 2024, the Ace Attorney Author Avatars on Nick's channel were replaced by animations of the group's Mario Party Superstars mains imitating the original sprites, with Daisy as Phoenix Wright for Nick, Luigi as Luke Atmey for Brent, Wario as Damon Gant for Sophist, and Birdo as Larry Butz for Vernias. This made sense in "Mario Party but chat sabotages us...", as they were all playing as those respective characters. But then cut to "We uncovered a BROKEN Mario Party loophole..." 1 month later, where Brent, Sophist, and Vernias decide play as Dry Bones, Goomba, and Shy Guy respectively, yet the character avatars representing them are kept the same.
- Artificial Stupidity:
- In "This Mario Party CPU lost me $100", the fellas quickly find out how absurdly stupid the Easy CPUs in Mario Party 6 can be, as they make a money bet.
- In "Mario Party 2 Bowser Land is WAY too toxic...", Bowser goes left while patrolling the map, despite the fact that Brent and Vernias were both directly in front of him on the right. Naturally, everyone is flabbergasted by this outcome:Sophist: Where is bro going?!
Nick: My jaw is dropped...
Brent: It's not even that he picked one or the other, he just picked neither of us!
Vernias: Yeah, he spared us both!
- Ascended Meme: This fan-made trap song remix based on Vernias' "Perfect Rotation" mantra has been used in the group's videos with the original creator's permission.
- Ask a Stupid Question...: In "I became a RAID BOSS in Mario Party...", Vernias asks Sophist how he could possibly reach the Boo behind the gate without a Skeleton Key, not realizing that Sophist can just purchase one from the Item Shop right in front of him:Vernias: Wait. How are you gonna get to the Boo from there? You don't have a key.
Sophist: Oh, you're right, I don't have a key. Silly me, how did I not think of this? Man, if only there was a way to get a key somewhere.
Vernias: Okay, buddy, okay! Wow! Way to make me feel like an idiot! Okay, I get it! - Badass Boast: Vernias delivers one in "I became a RAID BOSS in Mario Party..." when he gets the timing on Chance Time perfectly to make Brent lose a Star, cementing Brent's last place and guaranteeing his team's victory:Vernias: I'm the greatest! Oh! I'm the greatest! Who was here?! Who was here?! Who slayed the boss?! Who slayed the king?! Who has dethroned him?! Who has stolen his crown?! That is me! VERNIAS!
- Beam Me Up, Scotty!: In-Universe examples:
- In "World's Most Dangerous Mario Party Game!", Sophist clarifies to Brent that Wario doesn't actually say "You pick Wario!" whenever he's picked on the character select screen, but rather "You get Wario!"
- In "Mario Party but chat sabotages us...", Nick gets the punishment of imitating Master Oogway from Kung Fu Panda. While doing this however, he accidentally says a quote from Master Shifu, which Brent points out:Nick: The true path to victory is to find your opponent’s weakness, and make him suffer for it!
Brent: That’s Master Shifu, bozo!
- The Bet: In "This Mario Party CPU lost me $100", the fellas make a money bet on Mario Party 6's Easy CPUs, with the stakes being that 4th place must give $100 to 1st place, while 3rd place must $50 to 2nd place. They would do this again in "we bet money on Mario Party CPUs", except this time 4th place must give $200 to 1st place, while 3rd must give $100 to 2nd place.
- Big "NO!": Vernias tends to drop these very frequently, to the point where Brent made an entire edit in "They tried ruining my birthday in Mario Party..." of every time Vernias did so. The other three also drop one every now and then, with "Mario Party TOXIC Compilation" having an updated version that features all four of them screaming this.
- Big "WHAT?!":
- Vernias delivers two of these in sheer anguish in "The most TRAGIC ending in a Mario Party game..." when he the final results reveal he lost to Brent by 1 coin.
- Sophist delivers two of these in complete bewilderment in Mario Party 6's Snowflake Lake when Brent wins the Duel Minigame Mass Meteor against him, despite the fact that they both reached the goal at the same time.
- All four of them deliver several of these in "Mario Party but we need to TIE" when Nick receives a Star from a Hidden Block on the final turn, despite the fact that not only were Bonus Stars off, but he was also in 1st place when he got it.
- Big "WHY?!":
- Sophist delivers one in "Least Toxic Mario Party game..." when Brent accidentally delivers the former's one and only Star to a toxicity-unleashed Nick via Chance Time:Sophist: Ha, that sounded toxic- (as Brent hits the third block, selecting Sophist to give his Star to Nick) WHYYYYYYYYYY?!
- Brent delivers two of these from the top of his lungs in "Don't EVER betray me in Mario Party" when Nick betrays him on the minigame Honeycomb Havoc for a second time after promising not to backstab him like last time:Brent: WHY?! WHYYYY?! YOU STABBED ME! IN THE BACK! NOT ONCE, BUT TWICE!
- Nick delivers one in "Mario Party just got a whole lot worse" when Brent successfully swaps the former's 6 Stars with the latter's 1 via Chance Time:Nick: WHYYYY?!? What is wrong with you?! GO OUTSIDE!!!
- Sophist delivers one in "Least Toxic Mario Party game..." when Brent accidentally delivers the former's one and only Star to a toxicity-unleashed Nick via Chance Time:
- Big "YES!": Nick delivers a total of 6 of these in "Mario Party but I can't be toxic...". The first three are delivered when Brent accidently gets Nick on the roulette to gain a Star through Chance Time, bringing the latter's total Stars up to 7. The other three are delivered during the awards ceremony when he is awarded the one Bonus Star he needed to secure his victory:
- Birthday Episode:
- Throughout 2022, all four members played a round of Mario Party together on each other's birthdays, with Vernias' on February 21, Nick's on August 3, Brent's on September 15, and Sophist's on September 20. Brent manages to win 3 out of the 4 games, with the one he didn't win (Sophist's) still counting as a victory, as Nick and Sophist were trying to make him end in last place.
- In "I Made a Mario Party Challenge for my Birthday..., Nick hosts a birthday session where the group compete to get the first Star on every board. Unlike the previous year, Nick manages to win, but he has to share his victory with Vernias due to winning the same amount of maps as the former with two maps each.
- A Birthday, Not a Break: Aside from Brent, none of the members achieve a sweet Mario Party victory on their special days and still suffer varying degrees of misfortune.
- Blatant Lies:
- After having already inadvertently caused so much more torment towards Vernias than anyone else in "I quit Mario Party", Sophist decides to rub salt into the wound by posting a TwitLonger against Vernias once the game ended:
- In "We Added a Wheel of Punishments to Mario Party", Vernias manages to reach the Boo on the final turn and has to choose between Brent or Nick on who wins the game. But before he can even make the decision, Nick barges into Vernias' room and (jokingly) threatens to evict him if he chooses to let Brent win, as Vernias was living with Nick at the time. Once Nick returns to his room, he claims that he didn't do anything.
- Bodyguarding a Badass: In "I Became a SECRET Bodyguard in Mario Party", Sophist secretly plays to protect Brent from Nick and Vernias by constantly giving him advantages and not cooperating with the other two to take Brent down. The thing is... Brent is so good at the game that him winning is pretty much inevitable.
- Bowdlerization: Plenty of edited releases of their Mario Party sessions have swears either censored or removed entirely due to YouTube's policies. In Brent's case, he tends to trim down on swears the group makes, though he does keep in a Precision F-Strike or two.
- Breaking Old Trends: "Mario Party but we're Trapped in PRISON" has Sophist playing as Waluigi instead of Wario, much to Nick's dismay:Nick: Eevee, why did you switch from Wario? Waluigi has zero "cake" compared to him.
Vernias: Is that the only stat you look at when picking a fighting game character? - Broken Pedestal: Played for Laughs in "They tried ruining my birthday in Mario Party...", where Nick roots for Vernias to win against Brent on the Duel Minigame Tick-Tock Hop, only for both of them lose at the same time, leading to Vernias mocking Nick for being in last place:Nick: Vern Nation is a nation of betrayers, and traitors, and schemers and RATS! HOW DARE YOU, VERNIAS!?This is crazy. The
- Call-Back: In "Mario Party but 3rd Place CONTROLS US", Brent (while imitating Nick) says that the key going into the gate must feel so good for the key, something that Nick had said in a previous session.
- Cheaters Never Prosper:
- In "UNO made us REALLY toxic...", Brent constantly reveals what cards the others have either by challenging them whenever they played a +4 Card on him or simply remembering what cards he had before they swapped his deck with a 7. Yet despite this dirty tactic, Brent ends up being the only member of the group to not win a single round in the entire video.
- In "We RACED in Mario Wonder", everyone's scores get reset for the third round because Vernias used the Fast Dash badge in the first two races.
- Cliffhanger: "The WORST Board in Mario Party 2..." ends this way, with Nick telling the audience to tune in next time for Mario Party 2's Bowser Land, which wouldn't be uploaded on Brent's channel as "Mario Party 2 Bowser Land is WAY too toxic..." until 9 months later.
- Clip Show:
- "Mario Party TOXIC Compilation" is an hour-long showcase of Brent's favorite moments from his Mario Party videos.
- "Most Iconic Party Crashers Moments of 2023" is an hour-long showcase of the best moments from the "Party Crashers" videos uploaded in 2023.
- Compilation Re-release: The group's Super Mario 3D World playthrough was uploaded to the main channel into parts before being capped off with a video subtitled "The Whole Thing", which is every single episode compiled into a single video, being released 10 days after they finished the game.
- Contrasting Replacement Character: A rather temporary and generalized example. Whenever one of the members is absent for a video, they will usually have a CPU fill in their place, especially in a 4-player game like Mario Party. The difference between the temporary replacement and the Party Crasher being replaced is that they are an in-game CPU that provides zero commentary, while the Party Crashers themselves are chatty human players.
- Crossover:
- "We Fought The Underdogs" has the Party Crashers and the Underdogs compete against each other in a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate 4-vs-4 Crew Battle.
- The Party Crashers guest-starred in a few videos hosted by Sidequest Party, where they played Jackbox games, an 8-player game of Mario Party 7, and an IRL game of golf. Both groups would later collaborate again for a Mario Party 5 Tag Team livestream, except Brent who later joined via Discord call.context
- The Party Crashers guest-starred in a few videos hosted by Magic the Noah.
- Damn You, Muscle Memory!:
- In "Mario Party 1 is more TOXIC than I remember..." and "Mario Party 2 is more TOXIC than I remember...", Nick accidently gets himself eliminated on Mushroom Mix-Up and Hexagon Heat respectively because he forgot that characters in the N64 titles automatically get launched to the side whenever they jump on each other's heads, whereas that isn't the case in Superstars.
- In "Mario Party but we can only STEAL Stars" and "Mario Party but we need to TIE", Vernias and Sophist respectively accidentally purchase a Star when they didn't mean to because they forgot that in Superstars Toadette asks you three times about purchasing the Star if you decline.
- Decided by One Vote:
- In "The most TRAGIC ending in a Mario Party game...", despite receiving both Bonus Stars, Vernias still loses to Brent solely because the latter had 1 extra coin than him.
- In "I was paid to SABOTAGE Mario Party...", Brent is awarded the Slowpoke Bonus Star by 1 singular step, putting him in 3rd place over Sophist and screwing Nick out of $200.
- In "This Mario Party CPU lost me $100", Brent's Luigi CPU loses to Nick's Daisy CPU by 1 coin, forcing the former to pay the latter $50.
- Didn't Think This Through:
- In "Abusing the BEST Mario Party Mechanic", Nick is only 4 spaces away from the Star and has a maximum of 4 allies, so even if he rolls a 0, the allies would just roll their dice and make him roll a minimum of 4 anyway. But Nick decides to use his Golden Pipe regardless because it's the final turn and using it could potentially help in achieving the Item Bonus Star. It's not until after he uses it when he realizes that he also had a Hidden Block Card in his inventory, meaning he could've used that to possibly receive a free Star, then roll his dice to purchase a Star, effectively obtaining 2 Stars in one turn.
- In "I became a RAID BOSS in Mario Party...", Brent uses his two Cursed Dice on Sophist before visiting the Item Shop, not realizing that they could've acted as protection against Sophist's Plunder Chest, as whatever item the user steals is randomly selected from the victim's inventory, meaning any item that Brent will purchase will realistically get stolen immediately afterwards due to it being the only item he currently has in his possession.
- In "Mario Party but there’s a killer on the loose", Vernias forfeits the minigame Pokey Pummel because he knows that Brent will just mash for his life and win, forgetting that in Superstars players receive 3 or 2 coins when placing 2nd or 3rd place respectively in a minigame, which would've gave him enough coins to purchase the Star that's 1 space away from him, as he only had 19 coins.
- Disproportionate Retribution: When Vernias (who is currently in last place) throws the team minigame Dungeon Duos while teamed up with Brent in an attempt to prevent him from winning in "This Mario Party Game turned VIOLENT", Brent retaliates by using his Custom Dice to land on Chance Time and make Vernias lose a Star:Sophist: I just now thought of this, but Brent actually went: "You took my only Star, now I'm gonna starve."
- Downer Ending:
- "The most TRAGIC ending in a Mario Party game..." has one of the most depressing endings in any of their Mario Party sessions, as the title of the video would suggest. On the final turn, rather than simply rolling his die and purchasing a guaranteed Star, Sophist decides to "throw for content" and use his Warp Block to swap with Brent, giving the latter a massive lead with a total of 5 Stars. And while Vernias does manage to get both of the Bonus Stars, he still ends up losing the game, as Brent had 1 extra coin than him. What makes this even worse is that all of this happened to Vernias on his birthday!
- Nobody was happy with the outcome to "Mario Party 3 was a Tragedy...". After fighting for a single win on an N64 Mario Party game, Sophist's guaranteed victory taken away at the last second thanks to Brent accidently forcing the former to give 2 of his Stars to Vernias via Chance Time on the final turn. And while Sophist does manage to get 1 Bonus Star to put him ahead of Vernias, Brent would get 2 of the Bonus Stars and win the game through coins, despite the fact that he was in last place beforehand.
- Early-Installment Weirdness:
- Sophist didn't have a set main in Mario Party at first, regularly swapping characters between games because Daisy was already taken from Nick. But with the start of the "YOU PICK WAAAAAAAARIO!!!" and "WAAAAAAAARIO TIME!!!" Running Gags, Wario would be cemented as Sophist's main, much to his resentment at times:Sophist: I just wanna play as Daisy, yet you're gonna make me play as this fat-ass!
- Vernias early on would more commonly live stream Mario Party games with either Sidequest Party or KirbyKid, HarryBook, and Dukerino (the group he typically plays multiplayer Kirby games with) before finally sticking with the Party Crashers for his Mario Party streams.
- "all your Mario Party pain in one video" (Sophist's very first Mario Party video) has Nick, Brent, and Sophist playing with Peanut instead of Vernias.
- Similarly, "when grown adults play Mario Party Superstars" (Sophist's second Mario Party video) has Brent, Sophist, and Vernias playing with HarryBook instead of Nick. This is also one of the few times where Sophist gets to play as Daisy due to Nick being absent.
- The ending to "Mario Party Superstars is TOXIC" (Brent's very first Mario Party video) simply shows the awarded Bonus Stars and each player's stats without any additional commentary given throughout it. This is the only Mario Party video uploaded on any of their channels that ends this way, let alone Brent's channel.
- Early Mario Party sessions uploaded on Nick's channel would represent Sophist's dialogue with Yellow subtitles rather than Purple subtitles.
- Similarly, "Sophist destroyed us lmao" (the very first Mario Party 6 video uploaded on the Party Crashers channel) uses Green subtitles for Sophist and Yellow subtitles for Vernias instead of their usual colors Purple and Pink respectively in later videos on the Party Crashers channel. This is also yet another one of the few times where Sophist gets to play as Daisy, as Nick decides to play as Boo instead.
- Early uploads on the Party Crashers channel would simply mute swear words rather than censoring them with the usual Sound-Effect Bleep of the taunt sound effect from Pizza Tower in later videos.
- "Mario Party but there's only ONE star" (one of the earliest Mario Party Superstars videos uploaded on the Party Crashers channel) has Brent playing as Donkey Kong and Sophist playing as Rosalina. Later Mario Party videos on the Party Crashers channel would have them stick with their usual mains Luigi and Wario respectively.
- Sophist didn't have a set main in Mario Party at first, regularly swapping characters between games because Daisy was already taken from Nick. But with the start of the "YOU PICK WAAAAAAAARIO!!!" and "WAAAAAAAARIO TIME!!!" Running Gags, Wario would be cemented as Sophist's main, much to his resentment at times:
- Enraged by Idiocy:
- In "Mario Party 2 brings out the worst in you...", Nick and Vernias get absolutely furious on the minigame Crane Game when Sophist reveals that he was mashing the B button when he was supposed to be mashing the A button:Sophist: (audibly straining) I am mashing! It's the B button, right?
(Beat as Brent drops Sophist into the pipe)
Nick and Vernias: A BUTTON!
Vernias: OH MY GOD!
Nick: You bozo and a half! Oh my gosh...
Sophist: I mashed B on purpose so I can go get some snacks.
Vernias: I need to play with new people. I actually need to play this game with different people. - "This Mario Party CPU lost me $100" and "we bet money on Mario Party CPUs" has all four members actively losing their minds throughout the entirety of both sessions due to the CPUs constantly doing the most brain-dead plays. Special mention to the minigame Insectiride, where they're just left screaming at the top of their lungs over the CPUs simply not pressing a button.
- In "Mario Party 2 brings out the worst in you...", Nick and Vernias get absolutely furious on the minigame Crane Game when Sophist reveals that he was mashing the B button when he was supposed to be mashing the A button:
- Entitled Bastard: Discussed in "Mario Party 2 Bowser Land is WAY too toxic..." when Brent gains 13 coins from a Battle Minigame that was initiated by Vernias:Brent: I got some money off of that! Thank you!
Vernias: Oh, when it benefits you, it's no longer snaking!
Brent: That's how Mario Party always is, bro! When something bad happens to you: "This is worst game in the world!" When something good happens to you: "This is the best game in the world!" - Et Tu, Brute?: In "Don't EVER betray me in Mario Party", Nick promises Brent that he won't eliminate him first on the minigame Honeycomb Havoc after subjecting him to the same fate in a previous game. He then proceeds to eliminate Brent first immediately after, causing Brent to Brent completely lose it:Brent: I KNEW IT! YOU BALD, PIPLUP-LOOKING ASS-FUCKING TWO-FOOT FUCKING FIVE UGLY-ASS!
- Exact Words:
- In "Mario Party brings out the worst in you...", Sophist tells Brent that he will pick Random when visits the Boo. He does indeed pick Random, but not in-game, instead using a random number generator that the others don't know about. Vernias (of course) ends up suffering for it, as he gets his coins stolen. This leads to everyone thinking Sophist is just out for blood this game as a result of this seemingly targeted coin steal.
- In "I made a Mario Party Game to torture my friends" and "Mario Party but the bonus stars are EVIL", Nick and Brent respectively make a deal to not choose a specific player from the Boo to steal a Star from. However, nothing was said about picking the Random option, to which the both of them promptly select.
- Excrement Statement: In their first Gartic Phone video, Vernias misinterprets a drawing of Sophist attacking him with magic as Sophist peeing on him. The subsequent drawings make it even worse, with Sophist's drawing◊ depicting him decapitating Vernias with an excessive stream of urine.
- Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: In "I got bullied in Mario Party 2...", Vernias asks Brent how the Bowser Bomb works before playing the Item Minigame. As the Nice Guy for not withholding information, Brent tells him that if he obtains the item, it would summon Bowser to steal all the coins of any player he runs into. While he's explaining this though, he realizes too late that both him and Nick were directly in Bowser's line of fire.
- Failed a Spot Check: In "Mario Party but it's 1 vs 3...", Nick uses his Custom Dice to land on Chance Time in an attempt to steal a Star. He's initially excited when he manages to get himself on the roulette... only to start screaming in despair immediately afterward upon realizing that the arrow was pointing away from him, resulting in him losing a Star rather than gaining one.
- Fan Disservice: Nick, Brent, and Sophist all collectively react in horror upon seeing Vampire Birdo in "How to Cheat in Mario Party", with Brent even covering his eyes with his shirt.
- Flipping the Bird: "How to Cheat in Mario Party" ends with Brent, Sophist, and Vernias doing this to Nick when he suggests that they should all perform a "synchronized dab".
- Freudian Excuse: Discussed in "THE HARDEST DK", where Brent theorizes that the reason for Nick's toxicity is due to something happening to him at school:Brent: You know, Nick, I swear everytime you act toxic, I feel like this is some sort of projection you encountered at school. That has to be, it’s the only explanation I got.
Nick: What?! Where is this coming from?! - Game-Breaking Bug: In their Mario Kart: Double Dash!! video, Nick ends up clipping through the ground on Yoshi Circuit, after which he respawns right in front of the finish line and doesn't move on to the next lap after crossing it.
- Golden Snitch: In their Cards Against Humanity video, Nick decides that the winner of the third and final round gets 3 points instead of 1. Sophist and Vernias are understandably okay with this decision, since both of them and Nick have 0 points, while Brent (who is in the lead with 2) is understandably not happy with this idea:Nick: Let's do one more, and this time, the winner earns three points!
Vernias: What?
Sophist: Yo, that's a great idea.
Brent: How about you [Nick], suck my nuts, bro. - Guest-Star Party Member:
- Before playing Super Mario 3D World with Nick and Vernias, Brent and Sophist previously played with WolfeScratch and Graeme (Sophist's friend) in "Mario 3D World is FUN with 4 Players...".
- In Vernias' "NEW Super Smash Bros. Characters" series, HarryBook takes Nick's place due to the latter not being nearly as experienced with Photoshop as the others.
- In "Mario Party but it's Simon Says" and "Mario Party but it's Simon Says 2", Peanut takes Sophist's place as the fourth player due to the latter taking the role of Simon.
- Hoist by His Own Petard:
- In "Mario Party but the Magic Conch COMMANDS US", Nick asks if he can not get a Star during the last 3 turns of the game, banking on the Conch telling him "no". He ends up skipping 2 Stars due to the Conch replying "yes" to every question he asked. It isn’t until his very last attempt on the final turn of the game when the Magic Conch finally gives him the "no" he’s been looking for, in spite of insistence from the others that he would have gotten the Star much more easily had he just asked normally.
- In "Mario Party 3 is the MOST TOXIC, and this game proves why...", Brent receives the Wacky Watch from Toad early on in the game, a rare item that causes the game to immediately go to the last 5 turns. He ultimately decides to use it on turn 20 (despite having a guaranteed victory) to add 5 more turns to the game just to show off the item. This ends up costing him the game as Nick manages to overtake him in Stars during those extra 5 turns.
- Homage Derailment: During a round of Animation in their second Gartic Phone video, Sophist decides to recreate a moment from their first collaboration with Magic the Noah, where he casts Thunder Spell on a little girl, with Nick continuing it in his drawing. Brent on the the other hand decides to derail it by having the little girl deflect the attack with a shield, with Vernias then finishing it off with the reflected spell killing Sophist instead.
- Honor Before Reason:
- In "I Made A Game Designed To Be Bad", Vernias deliberately endangers everyone in an attempt to make Sophist confess to an angel that he killed her daughter, refusing to heal him even in near-death, even going as far as to enrage the angel to make her attack Sophist, leading to the angel attacking Brent instead:Nick: Vernias, you should probably heal Eevee.
Vernias: He hasn't. Confessed. For his sins yet.
Nick: That doesn't matter! What is more important?!
Vernias: Yes, it does! I am a holy man, and I believe that there are redemptions to be made here! - In "RPG, But Its Extremely Low Budget", Vernias refuses to use his forcefield spell (which traps the target in place) on the final boss so the crew can just skip the battle and escape with everyone alive, stating how it would be too boring if they just walked away from the final boss.
- In their third Pummel Party video, Sophist manages to roll an 8 when he was 7 spaces away from what would've been his 5th chest, giving him the victory and ending the game right there. Despite this, Sophist decides to go the opposite direction for the sake of making the video longer and more interesting, as the game would've ended in a very anticlimatic way otherwise... He then runs into another chest the very next turn:Sophist: I didn't wanna win!
- In "I Made A Game Designed To Be Bad", Vernias deliberately endangers everyone in an attempt to make Sophist confess to an angel that he killed her daughter, refusing to heal him even in near-death, even going as far as to enrage the angel to make her attack Sophist, leading to the angel attacking Brent instead:
- Hope Spot:
- In "I became a RAID BOSS in Mario Party...", Vernias manages to make Brent lose a Star on the penultimate turn via Chance Time, Nick uses a Golden Pipe to purchase a Star that Brent could've gotten with a high roll, and Sophist uses his Golden Pipe to visit a nearby Boo to steal Brent's last Star, thus putting him in dead last. However, if Brent rolls a 2 or 3, he could land on Chance Time and go for swap Stars, thus putting him out of last place and netting himself the victory... He promptly rolls a 10.
- In Mario Party 3's Woody Woods, Vernias allows Sophist to steal all his coins via Boo with the plan of using his Bowser Phone to get 50 coins on the final turn, putting him in 3rd place over Brent with 37. However, he accidentally botches this plan when he wins the next minigame and is now unable to get the coins from Bowser, leading to him using his Bowser Phone on Brent and getting Bowser's Coin Potluck, losing all of his coins and leaving Brent with 7. After a Battle Minigame leaves Brent with 14 coins and Vernias with 5, Vernias still has a chance to overtake Brent for 3rd so long as he wins the final minigame... only for the minigame in question to be a team minigame, with Brent on his team, making it impossible for him to get 3rd.
- In "We uncovered a BROKEN Mario Party loophole...", Nick and Brent are at massive lead with 5 Stars to Sophist and Vernias' 0 near the end of the game. However, the latter team manage to aquire themselves a Golden Pipe, a Double Card, and a Capsule Ticket, meaning if they manage to land on the Star Space and use the Double Card to net themselves 4 Stars (as Toadette gives away 2 Stars during the last 3 turns), use the Golden Pipe on the final turn to possibly aquire 2 more Stars, and land on one of the two Event Spaces on the top of the board to possibly receive 2 Stars from the Caspule Machine, they could potentially make a big comeback with a whopping 8 Stars. But despite their efforts, they end up not obtaining a single Star, as Vernias misses the Star Space 4 times in a row, while Sophist only receives a meager 3 coins from the Capsule Machine.
- Hypocrite Has a Point: In "Mario Party brings out the worst in you...", Sophist points out Vernias' ridiculous Double Standard when he accepts the fact Brent is about to steal his Star, but was rather ticked off earlier when Sophist (secretly randomly) stole 10 coins from him clean off the bat. However, Vernias explains that "it make sense", as he is literally the only option Brent has to steal a Star from, whereas Sophist stole from him seemingly for shits and giggles:Sophist: Vern, how can you be so fine with this, yet I take ten coins from you-
Vernias: BECAUSE IT LITERALLY MAKES SENSE!
Sophist: I take ten coins from you and you're like: "WHAT THE SHIT?!"
Vernias: YOU MAKE ZERO SENSE!! (breaks into laughter) You make zero sense! - Innocent Innuendo: In "We played EVERY Mario Kart track", Nick asks a question about Hilda from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past:Nick: Is she a bad lady?
Sophist: Uh... sh- she's bad.
Brent: She has good intentions but-
Sophist: That's not what Nick was asking honestly.
Nick: No, that's literally what I was asking.
Sophist: Oh! (bursts out laughing)
Vernias: His ass was not listening. - Insult Backfire: When the gang gets the minigame Juice Box in "We uncovered a BROKEN Mario Party loophole...", Nick tries outing Vernias as a Manchild by stating how juice boxes are his favorite drink, only for Vernias to state that he loves Capri-Sun.
- Interspecies Romance: This accidentally occurs in their second Gartic Phone video, where during a game of Story, Brent writes a story about Vernias finding a Hidden Block with a monkey inside it. Vernias finishes the story by writing that the two get married, not knowing that the story was about him and a monkey:Brent: Vernias finds a hidden block, but there's a monkey inside it.
Nick: Vernias attempts to befriend the monkey.
Sophist: The monkey actually has 5000 iq and is able to understand.
Vernias: After thinking it over, they got married. The End. - Ironic Echo: In "Sometimes Mario Party wants you to win... or lose...", Vernias constantly berates Nick for not using his items throughout the game. Cut to "Mario Party 3 broke us all..." almost 2 years later, where Nick mocks Vernias for not using a Boo Bell that he's been carrying thoughout most of the game:Nick: UsE yOuR iTeMs, vErNiAs! UsE yOuR iTeMs!
Brent: (bursts out laughing)
Vernias: Why did you say it like that? Why did you have to say it like that, man? - Irony: After Sophist ends the game in dead last for secretly running all of his moves via random number generator in "Mario Party brings out the worst in you...", the compliment Toad gives him... is that he ranks first - in luck (for getting the most Hidden Blocks). Needless to say, Sophist is not very happy about this after his bad luck streak:Sophist: NO! NO, YOU SHITTER! YOU CANNOT SAY THAT ABOUT ME! Is that just like throwing fuel in the fire?!
- It's Personal: Said verbatim by Vernias in "Mario Party brings out the worst in you..." when he steals coins from Sophist via Boo for (secretly randomly) stealing his coins earlier:Sophist: Vern, I am in fourth, and I have the least amount of coins.
Vernias: ...It's personal. (selects Sophist) It's absolutely personal. - Karmic Jackpot: In "Mario Party but I can't be toxic..." and "Mario Party but we can't be TOXIC", Nick and Sophist (generally considered the most toxic members of the group) manage to win their respective games.
- Kick the Dog:
- After Vernias has been going through awful experience already in "Sometimes Mario Party wants you to win... or lose...", Sophist decides to select the Random option when he visits the Boo and ends up stealing a Star from Vernias while he was already in dead last. Both Nick and Brent feel horrible about this outcome.
- When Vernias forfeits the minigame Pokey Pummel in "Mario Party but there’s a killer on the loose", forgetting that in Superstars players receive 3 or 2 coins when placing 2nd or 3rd place respectively in a minigame, which would've gave him enough coins to purchase the Star that's 1 space away from him, Nick decides to rub salt into the wound by barging into Vernias' room to see the latter's reaction in person, as they were living together at the time.
- Laser-Guided Karma:
- In "Mario Party 1 brings out the worst in you...", Sophist tells Brent that he must promise not to steal from him when he visits the Boo if he wants to win the team minigame Desert Dash. Just as Brent agrees, Sophist mishears the agreement and immediately flubs his next input at the last second, leading to Brent silently stealing Sophist's Star the very next turn.
- In "Mario Party 3 is more TOXIC than I remember...", Vernias uses his Bowser Suit to steal 10 coins from Sophist, who was in last place for most of the game. Immediately afterwards, Sophist lands on a Bank Space and receives 50 coins, enough to steal a Star using his Boo Bell. Unsurprisingly, Sophist steals Vernias' Star on his next turn.
- Laughing Mad:
- Nick goes a little off the rails in "Don't EVER betray me in Mario Party" when he has to decide Brent or Vernias' fate on Honeycomb Havoc immediately after promising the former that he wouldn't eliminate him first.
- Sophist laughs like a madman in "I Made a Mario Party Challenge for my Birthday..." when he's about to screw Nick out of getting a Star.
- Vernias laughs like a maniac in "I made a Mario Party Game to torture my friends" when he's about to light Kamek's Darkness Lamp so Brent can steal a Star from Nick.
- Loophole Abuse: In "We Added a Wheel of Punishments to Mario Party", one of Sophist's punishments was that his hands could not touch the controller. However, nothing was said about his hands being covered by something else, so he decides to wear oven mittens and hold the controller that way.
- Madness Mantra:
- In "Don't EVER betray me in Mario Party", Sophist shouts "HOW?!" a whopping 12 times in a row when Nick manages to steal his Star via Chance Time.
- In "The WORST Board in Mario Party 1...", Vernias goes on a manic rant about having "perfect rotation" while curb-stomping the others on the minigame Paddle Battle.
- In Mario Party 1's Mario's Rainbow Castle, Vernias gleefully shouts "KILL!" multiple times in a row when Sophist is made the 1 for the final minigame Bash 'n' Cash.
- In "Mario Party 3 Torments the Soul", Sophist says "To the suprise of nobody!" several times in a row after losing to Brent on the 1-vs-3 minigame Boulder Ball.
- Malaproper: In "Mario Party 7's WORST Map", Nick misreads heroine as heroin, leading to a Running Gag that Shy Guy has a drug addiction.
- Mascot: The purple toxic star in their channel profile picture could qualify as this.
- Mass "Oh, Crap!": In '"Mario Party 2 Bowser Land is WAY too toxic...", everyone (except Sophist) reacts in horror when Nick lands on the Bank Space with no coins to give, causing him to lose a Star.
- Misère Game: The entire premise of "Mario Party but LAST PLACE WINS", as they compete for who can end the game in last place.
- Misplaced Retribution: In "We broke TCNick3... AGAIN", Vernias starts targeting Nick on the fourth match due to the trauma he indured from past matches he had against Brent's King K. Rool, as Nick was currently playing as that character.
- Mood-Swinger: Invoked in "Mario Party but we're TOXIC at night...", where they must be ridiculously nice to each other during the day, but exceedingly toxic during the night.
- My God, What Have I Done?:
- Said verbatim by Sophist in "The most TRAGIC ending in a Mario Party game..." when he finds out that his Warp Block swap with Brent inadvertently caused Vernias to lose the game by 1 coin on his birthday no less.
- Brent is in shambles when he accidentally makes Sophist give 2 of his Stars to Vernias via Chance Time in "Mario Party 3 broke us all...".
- Mystery Episode: "Mario Party but there’s a killer on the loose" is mixture of both Mario Party and Clue, where the group tries to figure out who killed Mario and must collect Stars, win minigames, and land on Green Spacesnote or Chance Time Spaces in order to guess who might have done it.
- Mythology Gag: In "There's no way Mario Party can be any more TOXIC..." and "The most TRAGIC ending in a Mario Party game...", Luigi can be seen falling from a failed Up Special from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate while delivering his scream from the Super Mario World cartoon series, referencing a moment that occurred in Brent's second King K. Rool Super Smash Bros. Ultimate montage.
- Off with His Head!: When Sophist receives a prompt to draw himself peeing on Vernias in their first Gartic Phone video, he draws himself hitting Vernias with such an excessive stream of urine that it ends up decapitating him◊.
- Only Known by Their Nickname: Discussed in "The WORST Board in Mario Party 2...", where Nick mentions how, unlike him and Brent, Sophist and Vernias only go by their YouTube handles instead of their real life names Noah and Carnig respectively. This leads to Sophist and Vernias referring to each other in First-Name Basis during the latter's Rage Breaking Point on the final turn of the game.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Discussed in "I Tried to make Mario Party as RANDOM as Possible", where the others notice how Sophist is seemingly not acting as random as usual, stealing from certain people clean off the bat with the Boo rather than with the in-game Random option, not knowing that he's secretly using a random number generator:Brent: I wonder why he didn't choose Random though, like...
Vernias: It's very out of character, yeah.
Sophist: Nick had the most coins. Why would I choose somebody who could give me less coins?
Vernias: Since when do you use logic in your decision making?! - Pacifism Backfire: In "Mario Party 3 broke us all...", Vernias tries to not anger anyone by either doing a gameshow or choosing random whenever he visits the Boo, as to make sure he doesn't have a target on his back... only to end up infuriating everyone in the process:Sophist: In Vern's quest to make no enemies, he's pissed off everyone! It's insane.
Vernias: I don't understand! How is being the pacifist the most endangering thing?! - Pain to the Ass: In "RPG, But Its Extremely Low Budget", Nick manages to get a Nat 20 when attempting to stab the final boss in the butt with his knife, instantly killing him in the process, much to Vernias' exasperation and the hilarity of everyone else.
- Precision F-Strike:
- In "Don't EVER betray me in Mario Party", Nick says this to Vernias after beating him by 11 milliseconds on the minigame Pokey Pummel:Nick: (sighs of relief) GET FUCKED, VERNIAS!
- In "Least Toxic Mario Party game...", Sophist says this to Nick after losing the first minigame:Nick: Hey, Brent, Eevee. You guys got it next time, kings. Don't worry.
Sophist: FUCK YOU! - In "The most TRAGIC ending in a Mario Party game...", Vernias says this in response to one of Toad's statements after losing to Brent on his birthday:Vernias: "Not quite first, but still a great showing!" FUCK YOU!
- In "Mario Party but LAST PLACE WINS", Sophist says this to Brent when the latter successfully swaps his 2 Stars with the former's 0 via Chance Time:Sophist: Well, you can't spell Wario without FUCKING WAR!!
- In "Don't EVER betray me in Mario Party", Nick says this to Vernias after beating him by 11 milliseconds on the minigame Pokey Pummel:
- Punctuated Pounding: In "Sometimes Mario Party wants you to win... or lose...", Vernias gets so mad over Monty Mole giving the pity prize to Nick instead of him during the last 5 turns intermission that he starts hitting his table in-between words.
- Pyrrhic Victory: In "I was paid to SABOTAGE Mario Party...", Nick manages to win the whole game, but because Brent ended up getting 3rd place overall, he doesn't get the $200 Sophist promised him, since the whole point was to make Brent end in last place. And while Brent did manage to prevent himself from getting dead last, he got teamed up on as a result and got a miserable game out of it.
- Rage Quit:
- Subverted and ultimately Played for Laughs in "Don't EVER betray me in Mario Party", where Nick accidentally brings up the pause menu after the end results have been announced:Nick: The win will never count, if I quit! Nah, I'm joking.
- In "DO NOT let Waluigi win in Mario Strikers...", Nick forfeits the second match due to the goalie not taking the ball when it was right next to them, leading to Brent and Sophist getting 5 points to Nick and Vernias' 0.
- In "We uncovered a BROKEN Mario Party loophole...", Sophist and Vernias forfeit on the final turn as a result of them constantly missing the Star Space and only received a meager 3 coins from the Capsule Machine after Nick and Brent have stolen all of their Stars due to Lakitu's Event Space not moving after being landed on, leading to the other team ending with 5 Stars to their 0.
- Subverted and ultimately Played for Laughs in "Don't EVER betray me in Mario Party", where Nick accidentally brings up the pause menu after the end results have been announced:
- Real Men Wear Pink: When Nick visits the Boo in "The most BRUTAL Board in Mario Party 1...", he decides to do a gameshow to decide who gets their Star stolen between Brent and Vernias, with the question posed being what color sweater does he own. It turns out to be pink, which Brent ends up getting right due to it being the only color left to guess, leading to Vernias getting his Star stolen. Nick even tells the others that they need to throw away their preconceived notions about masculinity before revealing the color.
- Remembered Too Late: In "The WORST Board in Mario Party 2...", Brent tells Sophist that he can use the Bowser Suit (which the latter currently has in his inventory) to get money from Baby Bowser... after Sophist had already rolled and passed Baby Bowser.
- Replacement Scrappy: In-Universe. As shown in "they made a good Mario Party game", Nick and Sophist hate Tumble for replacing Toad in Mario Party 3:Nick: Fuck you, Tumble! I hate Tumble, bro.
Sophist: Yeah, who the hell invited Tumble to the party? - Revenge: After Nick betrays Brent on the minigame Honeycomb Havoc in "Don't EVER betray me in Mario Party", Brent gets back at Nick by making him swap all 7 of his Stars with Sophist's 2, much to Nick's horror:Brent: Nick, let this be a lesson. If you ever stab me in the back again at Honeycomb Havoc, this is the price you pay, you BALD! PIPLUP! MOTHERFUCKER!
- Running Gag Stumbles: In "The WORST Board in Mario Party 2...", Brent seems to be setting up for the Running Gag of yelling "YOU PICK WAAAAAAAARIO!!!", only to instead say "Mario!" in a pleasant voice.
- The Scrappy: In-Universe examples:
- Nick, Brent and Sophist all collectively despise Birdo, often mocking her at least one per game because they find her Vacuum Mouth character design to be very unpleasant to look at. Vernias naturally doesn't enjoy the slander Birdo gets from the gang, as he typically plays her in Super Mario Bros. Spin-Off titles. Even the editors hate Birdo, to the point of blurring her out whenever she appeared in "We tried to draw EVERY Mario Party Minigame".
- Nick hates Monty Mole, as he finds his character design to be very ugly. His dislike towards the enemy is so strong that he outright refuses to call him by his proper name, instead refering to him as a "Goomba".
- As shown in "We uncovered a BROKEN Mario Party loophole...", Vernias does not think highly of Diddy Kong for some reason:Vernias: Diddy Kong, stop looking at me, you stupid.
Nick: He is your ally and you treat him like this, bro?
Vernias: I hate him!
Nick: He's just vibing.
Vernias: He's cringe! - As shown in "Why does this Mario Party Clone exist?", Sophist loathes Zenitsu from Demon Slayer, to the point where he goes on a rather ticked off rant when he ends up being his first ally in the game:Sophist: He just screams! His character is just screaming, the whole fucking show! It’s so bad! Goddammit man!
- Second Place Is for Winners:
- The entire premise of "Mario Party but SECOND Wins", as they compete for who can end the game in 2nd place rather than 1st place.
- Discussed in their Mario Kart 64 video, where the others decide that getting 2nd place is the real victory due to how good Brent is at the game:Sophist: Why don't we just pretend Brent's not here and we'll just pretend that second is first?
Nick: Exactly, that's literally it. Whoever gets second actually wins. - In "This Mario Party CPU lost me $100" and "we bet money on Mario Party CPUs", despite placing in 2nd place on both videos, Nick still ended up gaining the most amount of money with $150, as he gained $50 in the former and $100 in the latter. In comparison, Sophist only made $100, as he lost $100 in the former but made $200 in the latter, Vernias didn't make any profit whatsoever, as he made $100 in the former but lost $100 in the latter, and Brent lost a whopping $250, as he lost $50 in the former and $200 in the latter.
- Self-Deprecation: In "we played Cards Against Humanity...", Vernias receives a black card that says "____ scared the Party Crashers forever." The winning card is Sophist’s small package, which was played by Sophist himself. Both Nick and Vernias agree that he earned that point.
- "Shaggy Dog" Story: In "Mario Party 3 is the MOST TOXIC, and this game proves why...", Sophist receives the Koopa Kard from a Hidden Block on turn 1, a rare item that allows the user to receive all of the coins saved up in the Koopa Bank by simply passing it rather than landing on the space. Nick then steals it with his Plunder Chest the very next turn and then (to add insult to injury) never uses it due to the Bank never having enough coins to justify using it.
- Shout-Out:
- SpongeBob memes whenever the opportunity presents itself. In general, the gang frequently reference
- In "Smash CPU Tourney but Everyone is Canon Sized", Brent references a... particular episode of Futurama upon seeing 6'10" Bayonetta CPU:Brent: Bro, what is this?! It's like that one episode of Futurama: "Snu-snu!"
(Beat)
Nick: Yo, wait, what the- (bursts out laughing) Brent, you dog! I didn't expect this coming from you! - In Mario Party 3's Woody Woods, Brent references Remy from Ratatouille when he sees a giant rat in the background:Brent: Look at the mother-fucker! He looks like he's gonna pull my hair to make me cook really good!
- In "We played EVERY Mario Kart track", Brent refers to the Item Box by the sound it makes similar to that of Dashie Games.
- Sophist's username in "We tried to draw EVERY Mario Party Minigame" is "Sophia the First".note
- Side Bet: One of the quizzes in their third Sporcle video is based on Pixar voice actors. After Nick and Vernias finish the quiz, they decide to make a bet of $25 on whether Brent and Sophist can actually win the round or not, as the former is confident that they aren't cultured enough. But much to his aggravation, Brent and Sophist end up winning, as they managed to get 60% on the quiz, while Nick and Vernias only got 47%.
- Skewed Priorities: In "Mario Party 2 is more TOXIC than I remember...", Nick decides to order Chinese food just before playing their final minigame of the session. A perplexed Sophist tells him that he could just wait until after they finish the minigame to do this, to which Nick claims that now is the best time, as his order will arrive the moment they finish their game.
- Sound-Effect Bleep: With the exception of Brent's channel, swears that could get the video demonetized by YouTube will be censored by a sound effect. The sound effect in question depends on the channel:
- Nick's channel uses the sound of a piano key.
- Sophist's channel either uses the Critical Hit sound effect from OMORI or adds an extreme vibrato effect over the swear.
- Vernias' channel uses a voice clip of Kirby saying "Poyo", alongside this image◊ of Kirby from Kirby Star Allies popping up with a demonetization sign in place of the Friend Heart.
- The Party Crashers channel uses the taunt sound effect from Pizza Tower.
- Spoiler Title: "Sophist destroyed us lmao", "TCNick3 destroyed us", and "Sophist destroyed us... again". No points for guessing who won in these respective videos.
- Springtime for Hitler: When all four members purposely try losing the minigame Crazy Cutters in "Mario Party but it's Secret Santa", Nick somehow manages to win with 4 points to everyone else's 0, much to his dismay:Nick: I tried my hardest to throw that!
- Stunned Silence: Brent reacts this way in their first Lethal Company video when Sophist accidently jumps off a bridge and dies.
- Sudden Downer Ending: Played for Laughs in their second Gartic Phone video, where during a round of Animation, Nick draws Vernias getting attacked by a shark. Brent and Vernias draw him escaping the shark and celebrating, only for the last drawing by Sophist revealing that the shark has laser eyes and it blasts Vernias with them:Vernias: (as he jumps away from the shark in the drawing) It's fine! I win these! I win these!
Sophist: (as his drawing appears) Yeah, unfortunately, no you don't win these.
Vernias: Why?! That's not fair! - Suicide Dare: Vernias has this to say to Nick when the latter reveals that the color of his sweater is pink in "The most BRUTAL Board in Mario Party 1...":Vernias: You should jump into Magma Mountain, NOW!!! Drown in the lava, NOW!!!
- Taking You with Me:
- In "I got bullied in Mario Party 2...", Vernias aquires the Bowser Bomb from the Item Minigame to summon Bowser, knowing that him, Nick, and Brent were all right in front of him, causing the three of them to lose all of their coins in the process.
- In "I Made a Mario Party Challenge for my Birthday...", Sophist pays Mr. I to travel across the board while Nick was directly in his line of fire, screwing him out of getting the Star.
- That Came Out Wrong:
- In this short, Brent and Vernias have a laughing fit when the latter calls himself a "master baiter" after baiting the former into his attack. This would later get referenced in the group's Super Mario 3D World playthrough whenever they fell for a bait in one of the haunted house levels:Nick: Yo, these Boos are "master baiters"!
Sophist: Wow, they're actually just "master baiting" us... - In "I Made A Game Designed To Be Bad", Brent says this before defeating the final boss:Brent: You know what, I ain't listening to any of your BS! I'm gonna try to finish off this Vaporeon with my sword!
Nick: Bro, take that out of context, and it's the worst sentence I've ever heard.
Brent: ...Wait, shut up, Nick! - In "How to Cheat in Mario Party", Vernias says this when he low rolls shortly after Nick got a "big dick roll":Vernias: I'm just here trying to take it all in.
Sophist: ...Huh? - In "We Played EVERY Mario Kart Battle Mode", Nick says this after winning and tying with Vernias on a round of Balloon Battle:Nick: Let's go! In the lead, baby! Yeah! The two kings! Wait... What does that imply?
(Brent and Vernias burst out laughing)
- In this short, Brent and Vernias have a laughing fit when the latter calls himself a "master baiter" after baiting the former into his attack. This would later get referenced in the group's Super Mario 3D World playthrough whenever they fell for a bait in one of the haunted house levels:
- That One Level: In-Universe. All four members collectively despise Space Land because they find the Event Spaces that send players back too annoying and frustrating to deal with. Even after getting utterly demolished in Mario Party 1's Peach's Birthday Cake and Mario Party 2's Mystery Land respectively, Nick and Brent still consider Space Land to be the absolute worst board in the entire Mario Party series.
- Thousand-Yard Stare: Brent reacts this way in "How to Cheat in Mario Party" when Vernias unintentionally uses his Cashzap Candy on him while he was in last place with a meager 8 coins.
- Throw the Dog a Bone: In "The WORST Board in Mario Party 1...", after seemingly being set to lose to Brent again despite his best efforts, Vernias manages to win the remaining 2 Bonus Stars, giving him his first proper Mario Party victory under normal circumstances.
- Too Dumb to Live:
- In their first Lethal Company video, Nick gets the brilliant idea to destroy a beehive with a shovel despite Sophist's warnings not to, which angers the Circuit Bees from inside and proceed to kill him on the spot. The others all agree that Nick absolutely deserved it, while Nick retorts that he regrets nothing.
- In their third Lethal Company video, Sophist gets the marvelous idea to put a metal screw into the ship's charger. He somehow survives and promptly tries again, to which this time he suffers a High-Voltage Death.
- In their Castle Crashers videos, Nick and Brent utterly refuse to upgrade their magic stat, despite the fact that they're playing as magic users. Cue the both of them constantly dying for most of the game.
- Tranquil Fury:
- When Sophist unintentionally throws the team minigame Desert Dash while teamed up with Brent in "Mario Party 1 brings out the worst in you...", Brent retaliates by silently stealing Sophist's Star the very next turn.
- When Vernias steals only 1 coin from everyone with his Vampire Candy in "How to Cheat in Mario Party", he quietly places Brent's Piplup plushie on the sofa and perfoms an elbow drop onto it.
- Unfortunate Character Design: In-Universe. Vernias' drawing of the minigame Spotlight Swim in "We tried to draw EVERY Mario Party Minigame" has him place one of the solo player's arms in-between their legs, making it look like... something else, to which the others naturally joke about.
- Violation of Common Sense: In "Mario Party brings out the worst in you...", Nick manages to reach the Boo with enough coins to steal a Star and has only Brent and Vernias to steal from, as they both only have 1 Star each. This seems fine at first, but the problem is that Brent is right behind him and also has enough coins to steal a Star, meaning that no matter who Nick steals from, Brent would realistically just steal from him either out of retaliation or because he had no one else to steal from. So Nick decides to play the long-game and just steals coins. Sure enough, Brent makes it to the Boo and steals Vernias' Star, meaning Nick would have 0 Stars by the end of that interaction either way, but at least he had coins to spare.
- We Want Our Jerk Back!: On the penultimate turn in "Mario Party but I can't be toxic...", Brent gets rather elated when Nick makes fun of Sophist for being in last place:Brent: There’s the Nick I missed!
- Wham Line: In "Mario Party HITMAN", Nick notices Brent acting oddly irritated as Vernias continues to get more and more Stars, leading to the following revealing conversation near the end:Brent: Why is this the game you do well on? I hate it here.
Nick: Well, this is the game that matters the least to do well on.
Brent: No??
Nick: Yes??? The objective is to make your loser to get last.
Brent: Exactly!
Nick: So why does it matter that Vernias is doing really well?
Brent: Because he's making my job a living hell! How is it not obvious by now?! That's why I'm getting pissed off! How is he doing this well?! - "Where Are They Now?" Epilogue: Some Mario Party sessions uploaded on Nick's channel close the video out with an ending montage instead of simply showing the results:
- From "We Added a Wheel of Punishments to Mario Party...":Nick went on to win the greatest Mario Party game of all time.
Vernias was able to keep his room.context
Brent never mentally recovered losing a Mario Party game.
And Eevee found a new lifelong love in Birdo.context - From "Mario Party but we've never been so LUCKY":Nick went on to win the longest game ever of Mario Party. His LowTierGod shirt is now framed in Nintendo HQ.
Vernias became idolized for his "Wonderous Warp" play. Brent has still never forgiven him.context
Eevee got 4th... again.
Brent is awaiting trial for assault against Vernias.
And they all lived happily ever after. - From "Mario Party but chat sabotages us...":Nick totally won and didn’t lose the video!
Eevee was banned for not following the rules.context
Brent disowned Nick for his misuse of Kung Fu Panda quotes.context
The game went so long Vern missed dining hall hours. (this one isn’t a joke)
- From "We Added a Wheel of Punishments to Mario Party...":
- Wins by Doing Absolutely Nothing:
- In "Don't EVER betray me in Mario Party", Sophist manages to win the whole game thanks to Brent swapping the former's 2 Stars with Nick's 7 via Chance Time near the end of the game.
- Similarly, in "Mario Party just got a whole lot worse", Vernias manages to win the whole game thanks to Sophist swapping the former's 0 Stars with Brent's 6 via Chance Time on the final turn.
- In their Gang Beasts video, Vernias manages to win a round by simply standing above the grinder while Brent and Sophist accidently fall into the grinder in an attempt to reach him:Sophist: Vern, you did literally nothing this game. You did literally nothing.
- When the fellas get the minigame Parasol Plummet in "I made a Mario Party Game to torture my friends", Vernias is currently the only one who can play the minigame, as the others rolled too high on their turns. Yet despite being the only one who can move, Vernias still loses to Brent by 1 coin:Brent: How’d I do better than Vernias?! How?!
- In their Stick Fight video, Sophist wins so many matches by simply standing around and letting the others kill each other that the editor needed to put in a counter for how many times it happened.
- Wolverine Publicity:
- "Mario Party but SECOND Wins" [1]◊, "Sophist destroyed us lmao" [2]◊, and "we turned Mario Party into a dating simulator" [3]◊ all prominently feature Wario in the thumbnail, despite the fact that Sophist doesn't actually play as him in any of these sessions.
- The Mario Kart: Double Dash!! 2-vs-2 video features Luigi in the thumbnail◊ front and center, despite the fact that Brent doesn't actually play as him throughout the whole video, instead playing as Paratroopa.
- "We played EVERY minigame in Super Mario Party" features Donkey Kong in the thumbnail◊ front and center, despite the fact that none of the four members actually play as him at any point in the video.
- Yank the Dog's Chain:
- In "They tried ruining my birthday in Mario Party...", Vernias is only 5 spaces away from the Star, so he uses his Triple Dice for insurance... He ends up rolling a 4, the worst possible roll, as he would've at least gotten 20 coins had he rolled a 3.
- In "This Mario Party Game turned VIOLENT", it looks like Sophist might actually win a normal game of Mario Party for once... only for Brent to get both Bonus Stars and overtake him in 1st place, crushing his hopes once again:Sophist: I... CAN'T GET A WIN! WHYYYY?!
- Similarly, in "Mario Party 3 broke us all...", it seems like Sophist could finally win a proper Mario Party game for once... only for Brent to accidently force the former to give 2 of his Stars to Vernias via Chance Time and get awarded the 2 Bonus Stars he needed to overtake 1st place, as he had more coins than everyone else.
- Your Mom: In "Don't EVER betray me in Mario Party", Sophist says this to Vernias when the latter starts berating the former for purposely helping out Nick on the minigame Honeycomb Havoc:Vernias: You're literally going to let him win!
