Bubble and Squeak is a Platform Game by Audiogenic Software.
On the planet Grool lives Squeak, one of the planet's Cat Folk species. One day, a villain named Kat of Nine Tails comes to Grool and kidnaps the populace. Squeak manages to escape from this predicament, and runs into a human boy named Bubble.
The two decide to team up and, using their powers, traverse a series of levels in which they must collect gems and coins and battle enemies to rescue Squeak's people.
The game was released in 1994.
Bubble and Squeak contains examples of:
- 1-Up: They look like little doll versions of Squeak.
- Accessory-Wearing Cartoon Animal: One of the enemies in the game is a bird wearing a red cap carrying a baseball bat.
- Big Creepy-Crawlies: The first level contains bugs the size of small dogs as enemies.
- Bubble Gun: Bubble can shoot these out as an attack. Bat-wielding birds can knock them back, though.
- Conjoined Eyes: Because of the game's art style, a great many of the characters have these.
- Fastball Special: You can have Squeak pick up Bubble and throw him up to high platforms.
- Floating Platforms: Naturally. Some of them are mechanical ones that only move when a nearby button is pressed.
- Hyperactive Metabolism: Eating food increases Bubble's health by one unit.
- Level Goal: A small orange-and-blue striped pole with a glass dome. Both characters must be at it to clear the level.
- Name and Name: Bubble and Squeak, naturally.
- Pun-Based Title: Bubble and Squeak, in addition to being the names of the protagonists, is a traditional British dish.
- Side View: How the game is viewed.
- Snakes Are Sinister: Snakes are an enemy in the game.
- Springs, Springs Everywhere: They look like the ones from early Sonic the Hedgehog video games.
- Unexpected Shmup Level: The Strawberry Lagoon has Bubble and Squeak piloting a submarine and shooting fish, octopi, and a cat in a submarine.
