Go To

"Retro" is the fiftieth episodenote  of Lilo & Stitch: The Series. It first aired on May 20, 2005.

The experiment of the episode:

  • Retro (X-210): A small, brownish-orange, mammalian/reptilian dinosaur-like experiment who is designed to reduce people, animals, enemy weapons, and technology to their most primitive states.

Tropes featured in this episode include:

  • Be Yourself: Basically the moral of the story. Lilo insists that Nani come clean with her middle school friends that she's not the vice president of the business she works for. (Though it should be mentioned that Nani never really lied to Ellen and Lona.)
  • Extinct Animal Park: Experiment 210 can devolve creatures by wrapping them up with its tongue and spinning them around. After being reformed, he's sent to a zoo where he uses his ability to turn the animals there into dinosaurs to attract visitors.
  • The Fourth Wall Will Not Protect You: A T. rex appears at the end, roaring and walking towards the viewer as the episode Fades to Black.
  • Imagine Spot: Nani has one imagining that if she introduces her family as is, they will come up to her friends and outright oust her as a fraud. Towards the end, Lilo comes up and asks "Have you met my lying sister?"
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Lilo isn't impressed that Nani would want to put up a façade as a rich, successful person in order to look good in front of the latter's friends.
  • Wrong Assumption: When Ellen and Lona first see Nani again for the first time in years, they saw her in a business suit coming out of the office of the Birds of Paradise Hotel's vice president, causing them to jump to conclusions that Nani is hotel's vice president (partly due to both women being successful people themselves). They never gave her a chance there and then to explain that she doesn't have any major status in the company, putting undue stress on her and causing the episode's conflict.
