From the moment Mihawk rolls up and smokes Zoro, the audience is acutely aware that there are dudes out there who make Luffy, Arlong, and especially Buggy look like chumps, and further exposition dumps about the Four Emperors and the upper echelons of the Navy only make it clear that he's just the tip of an unfathomable iceberg. And if Mihawk was a huge fish crashing through the Strawhats' small pond, then Aokiji is a goddamn whale! He's not just on a different level, he's playing a whole different game, and it takes almost 300 more chapters of adventures, plus a two year Time Skip training arc, before the Strawhats are ready to even begin playing what he's playing."
