This index is for works that focus on genies (also called djinn or jinn). A work just having a genie does not qualify. The genie must be one of the main characters, the main threat, or otherwise central to the plot. Such works will invariably make use of one or more Genie Tropes.

- Aladdin: A wisecracking blue Genie is one of the primary characters.
Anime & Manga
- Doraemon: Nobita's Dorabian Nights, featuring a robot genie sidekick as a major supporting character. And a couple of legit genies in Sinbad's collection of artifacts.
- Hakushon Daimaō: The titular character and his mischievous daughter Akubi are genies.
- Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic: An Arabian Nights-themed manga by Shinobu Ohtaka, one of the main characters is a huge, muscular djinn named Ugo.
- The utterly strange Burutabu-chan shorts from the equally strange Japanese children's show Ugo Ugo Ruga, involving a genie finding himself in bizarre situations, almost always involving his own excrement.
Comic Books
- Cairo, by G. Willow Wilson. One of the main characters is a three-piece suit-wearing genie inhabiting a water-pipe who grants wishes by manipulating probability.
- ClanDestine: Revolves around a family of British superheroes in the Marvel Universe, children of a male human and a female jinni.
- Djinn
- Eight Billion Genies: Soon after human population reaches eight billion, each person alive is granted a wish by a genie. Oh, Crap!
- Soulsearcher And Company: Baraka is an Arabic fire demon (also known as a djinn) who dwells in a bottle.

- Aladdin: The famous blue Genie is one of the major characters. At the end of the film, the villainous Jafar is turned into a genie himself.
- Bratz Genie Magic
- DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp: Gene the Genie is an important character.

- The 7th Voyage of Sinbad: Baronni, a child genie, who is freed and becomes both a mortal and Sinbad's cabin boy is one of the main characters.
- Aladdin (2019): A live-action remake of the 1992 animated Disney film.

- The Thief of Bagdad (1940): Borrowing heavily from stories of the Arabian Nights, an absolutely enormous genie who will grant three wishes to anyone clever enough to survive him is an important character.

- When Evil Calls: The villain is a dark djinn who grants one wish that works perfectly, so long as the wisher passes the text message on to others.

- Aladdin: The genies are bound to a lamp and to a ring. The genie attached to each item must obey whoever holds it at the time.
- The Bartimaeus Trilogy: The title character is a djinni.
- Castle in the Air: Two djinn, named Daizel and Hazruel, are featured characters.
- Children of the Lamp: This series of fantasy novels tells the story of twin djinn, or genies, John and Philippa Gaunt, and their challenges with adapting to the world of djinn.

- ¡Ala... Dina!: A genie is freed by the son of a widower publicist, and ends up working as a maid for the boy’s father. Later the father and the genie end up falling in love. Kind of an unofficial Spanish adaptation of I Dream of Jeannie.
- Arabian Nights: The story contains both the Genie of the Lamp and Genie of the Ring, both played by John Leguizamo.

- I Dream of Jeannie: The title character is a female Persian genie.
- My Phone Genie: About a young girl with a genie in her mobile phone
- Once Upon a Time in Wonderland: The villain's plot involves harnessing the power of three genies, one of whom is the main character's love interest.
- You Wish is a short lived sitcom about an inept genie living with a single mother.

- Aladdin: The Series: Beyond the blue Genie, there's also Eden, a green-skinned female genie who becomes romantically attached to the blue Genie.
- Ali Baba Bunny: This 1957 Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck cartoon set in the Middle East features Daffy encountering a genie near the end.
- Extreme Ghostbusters has a few demonic entities akin to Jackass Genies.
- The Fairly Oddparents features Jackass Genie Norm as a recurring antagonist.
- Genius Genie is a Preschool Show starring an anthropomorphic blue elephant genie.
- Jeannie: A short-lived Animated Adaptation of I Dream of Jeannie.
- Ninjago: The Jackass Genie Nadakhan serves as the Big Bad of the sixth season.
- Pixel Pinkie: On her birthday, Nina gets a phone with a genie infused into the phone named Pixel Pinkie in it who can make her wishes come true.
- Shazzan: The eponymous character is a giant genie summoned by magic rings.
- Shimmer and Shine: The title characters are female genies who live in another dimension.
