Group TAC
was a highly prolific Japanese studio. Established by sound directors Atsumi Tashiro and Susumu Aketagawa and animation director Gisaburo Sugii in 1968 as a sound production firm, the company began producing its own animation in the mid-1970s and over the next several decades worked on numerous TV projects and a few films, with Sugii directing many of its seminal works. On August 21, 2010, the studio filed for bankruptcy. At that point, they were US$6.95 million (roughly ¥585 million) in the hole.
