Her first starring role was in the NHK series My Beloved Ultra Seven, and she is also known in Japan for acting in Hideyoshi and Born to be Wild!!. Tamura has since gone on to star in many television series and movies in both the US and Japan.
Something funny - in Japan, she's known for the anime series Idol Densetsu Eriko, an anime series that was massively popular, sold $8 billion Yen in merch sales and warranted a sequel series because of how beloved it was. Meanwhile in the West, she's known for portraying the main villain, Mai, in Dragonball Evolution, a film critically panned worldwide.
Tamura did actually produce Idol Densetsu Eriko to promote her own career as a singer back when she was new to the industry. Before it would air, Eriko herself would appear on-screen and ask that people watch her show. Despite being based on her own life, it takes many liberties - it portrays Eriko as raised in Japan (when she actually spent a lot of her childhood in Germany) and also adds a lot of family drama regarding an Evil Uncle and a spurned rival, both of who are completely made up for the sake of the anime. Idol Densetsu Eriko was a hit in Japan and the Middle East, but not well-known elsewhere.
She currently lives in Los Angeles and is pursuing her acting career.
She has a website.
