I could be a better boyfriend than him
I could do the shit that he never did
Up all night, I won't quit
Thinking I'm gonna steal you from him
I could be such a gentleman
Plus all my clothes would fit
"Boyfriend"

Dove Cameron (born Chloe Celeste Hosterman, January 15, 1996 in Seattle, Washington) is an American actor and singer. She is best known for playing the dual role of both Liv and Maddie in Liv and Maddie, or as Kayla Morgan in Cloud 9 and Mal in Descendants.

Though born in Seattle, Washington, her family also spent time in France and eventually moved to Los Angeles when she was 14.

She and her (now-ex) fiance Ryan McCartan, who also appeared on Liv and Maddie, have their own YouTube channel for their band 'The Girl and the Dreamcatcher'. Their first single under that name, "Written in the Stars," came out on October 3, 2015. She also has a solo channel.

Outside of her work with Disney, she's also notable for her involvement with Marvel Comics properties. She provided the voice of Spider-Gwen on Ultimate Spider-Man (2012), and reprised the role in Marvel Rising. She also had a recurring role on the fifth season of ABC's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D..

Tropes applying to her music:

  • Better Partner Assertion: "Boyfriend" is about the singer asserting to a girl that she would be a better, more attentive partner for her than her boyfriend.
I don't need to tell you twice
All the ways he can't suffice
If I could give you some advice
I would leave with me tonight
  • Card-Carrying Villain: The narrator of "Breakfast" is aware that their behaviour is wrong but keeps doing it, seeming to enjoy it.
  • Cover Version: A frequent feature on the band's YouTube channel. She has also done covers of Imagine Dragons' "On Top of the World" from Liv and Maddie and Christina Aguilera's "Genie in a Bottle" for Disney.
  • Crystal Clear Picture: In the music video of "Breakfast", Cameron plays two characters—a powerful, office female worker in a world with the gender roles switched and a silent TV presenter in black-and-white. The latter's image is always crystal clear despite the device she appears being very old to today's standards. It only shows scan lines when the illusion of the gender-flipped world starts to shatter.
  • Her Boyfriend's Jacket: In "Boyfriend", the singer asserts that she'd be a better partner for a girl than her current boyfriend, adding, "Plus all my clothes would fit."
  • Persecution Flip: The music video for "Breakfast" takes place in an alternate sixties with all the inherent sexism of the time but the roles of men and women flipped. This puts a much darker spin on the tone of the song itself.
