Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
(Redirected from Wikipedia:RMTR)
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

Uncontroversial technical requests[edit]
- Kerma kingdom → Kingdom of Kerma (currently a redirect instead to Kerma culture) (move · discuss) – in line with rest of page Alexanderkowal (talk) 15:31, 1 June 2024 (UTC)
- KMW+Nexter Defense Systems → KNDS (currently a redirect back to KMW+Nexter Defense Systems) (move · discuss) – Official company name has changed to 'KNDS'. The 'KMW+Nexter' name is no longer used in official communications. TorreAzzurro (talk) 10:40, 31 May 2024 (UTC)
- Suez Rajan → St Nikolas (ship) (move · discuss) – The oil tanker Suez Rajan has since been renamed to St Nikolas. The new name is, in my opinion, equally notable as the previous one, as the tanker is known for two very similar events, each of which happened under one of these two names.
I think going with "St Nikolas (ship)" as the new article name would be best since the page without the "(ship)" suffix already exists and is a redirect to "St. Nikolas", which is a disambiguation page.
Of course, the ship name should remain italicized, too. Yours truly, 79.186.231.26 (talk) 16:49, 31 May 2024 (UTC)- Can you provide sources to this? The above is a human event and not a ship, or am I getting it wrong here? Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 18:53, 31 May 2024 (UTC)
- @SafariScribe, it seems to me that the article is supposed to concern the vessel itself, although it is admittedly discussed only in the context of the two events that warranted its notability. Each of these events is described by another section of the article.
- I suspect that neither of these events alone might be notable enough for separate articles, so perhaps the best way forward would be to keep the article ostensibly about the vessel, and add some templates to indicate that the article needs to be improved so that it actually has some details beyond just these two events.
- I hope all is clear now =). Always yours, 79.186.231.26 (talk) 15:28, 1 June 2024 (UTC)

- National Assembly of Serbia and Montenegro → Assembly of Serbia and Montenegro (currently a redirect back to National Assembly of Serbia and Montenegro) (move · discuss) – In line with other articles on similar topics about Serbo-Croatian — IмSтevan talk 19:46, 1 June 2024 (UTC)
- Substantial (rapper) → Substantial (currently a redirect back to Substantial (rapper)) (move · discuss) – No other topic with this name. Mia Mahey (talk) 22:21, 1 June 2024 (UTC)
- Philippe Leroy (actor) → Philippe Leroy (currently a redirect instead to Philippe Leroy (disambiguation)) (move · discuss) – Philippe Leroy (actor) being orders of magnitude more notable than the politician, renaming disambig page to P.L. (disambiguation) then moving the actor to its page name. Once done, please add a disambig reference to the politician in the actor's page. Disambig page might probably be deleted. • Huferpad talk 23:00, 1 June 2024 (UTC)
- Paulina Villarreal Vélez → Paulina Villarreal (currently a redirect back to Paulina Villarreal Vélez) (move · discuss) – She is the only person in Wikipedia named "Paulina Villarreal", and the Vélez is a second last name in Spanish and it's not necessary to use it as full name as she usually goes as the name I want to move the article. GiankM. M (talk) 23:28, 1 June 2024 (UTC)
- Udham Singh Nagar → Udham Singh Nagar district (currently a redirect back to Udham Singh Nagar) (move · discuss) – WP:CONSISTENT with other district articles i.e. Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district etc. — Hemant Dabral (📞 • ✒) 04:00, 2 June 2024 (UTC)
- Carpathian Ruthenia → Transcarpathia (currently a redirect instead to Transcarpathia (disambiguation)) (move · discuss) – Per consensus at Special:Permalink/1225760018#Requested move 12 May 2024. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 04:11, 2 June 2024 (UTC)
- Hardies railway station, New South Wales → Hardies railway station (currently a redirect back to Hardies railway station, New South Wales) (move · discuss) – Unnecessary disambiguation. Fork99 (talk) 04:12, 2 June 2024 (UTC)
Requests to revert undiscussed moves[edit]
Contested technical requests[edit]
- Monte Mars → Mont Mars (currently a redirect instead to Monte Mars) (move · discuss) – "Mont Mars" is far more widely sourced on the Internet that "Monte Mars". --Simoncik84 (talk) 13:11, 30 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Simoncik84: The rest of the pages in Category:Mountains of the Biellese Alps use Monte. If you want to make an argument that they should all be renamed, that would need a formal move discussion. See WP:RMPM for instructions. --Ahecht (TALK
PAGE) 14:03, 30 May 2024 (UTC)- I'm talking here about Mont Mars only. Among the pages of this category, it's the only one with an entirely French name. Some of the other summits of this category which stay on the water divide between the Province of Biella and the Aosta Valley. In the latest, French is co-official with Italian, these summits have therefore two official names (in Italian and in French), as you can see in the articles' introduction, but not Mont Mars. - Nisqually Indian Tribe of the Nisqually Reservation → Nisqually Indian Tribe (currently a redirect back to Nisqually Indian Tribe of the Nisqually Reservation) (move · discuss) – Change name to match name of tribe on the Federal Register Bohemian Baltimore (talk) 05:27, 30 May 2024 (UTC)
- Not Nisqually tribe (or Nisqually Tribe or Nisqually Indian tribe)? Also, is "Indian" the best word choice here? — BarrelProof (talk) 10:31, 30 May 2024 (UTC)
- Sources are mixed on use of "indian", even the tribe's official website uses it. As to the title, I'm not sure entirely whether we should use the federal register or dive deeper to find the common name via sources, I'm leaning towards the second (not sure if there's a special convention here though) ASUKITE 13:58, 30 May 2024 (UTC)
- I prefer a full RM given that Native American-related discussions on Wikipedia are not uncontroversial and have attracted some outside attention; the WP:CR#Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2024 April 27#Category:Unrecognized tribes in the United States references news coverage. Local consensus on the topic has also not been uncontroversial—for example, Talk:Lily Gladstone#"Native American" actress left open the question that whether WP:NDNID (an essay) overrides the what the usual WP:RS say (Aquillon and others) and whether it is uncontroversial for NDNID to be in MOS:BIO (voorts). Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 16:09, 30 May 2024 (UTC)
- I don't think it follows that because some Native American topics have been controversial that all of them are. I don't think it's controversial to ask that the article use the name used on the tribe's website and on the Federal Register. But I'm fine with a full RM if other editors insist on that. - ASUKITE (all caps because copy-paste, not shouting), are you suggesting this discussion belongs on Talk:Nisqually Indian Tribe of the Nisqually Reservation instead of here? i'm replying here because discussion i see a discussion here, and don't see one there.
- Just wanted to mention i heard on TV (PBS? i'll need to see if i can find/remember my source so i can cite it properly) the United States government uses "Indian" instead of "Native American" in legal documents. That might not outweigh Wikipedia's policy about common names, but is something else to consider.

- Meath → Meath (disambiguation) (currently a redirect back to Meath) (move · discuss) – It should be made a disambiguation page so Meath can be redirected to County Meath, which is the primary topic. TwinBoo (talk) 14:49, 30 May 2024 (UTC)
- Probably worth a discussion, as the historical Kingdom of Meath clearly has a long-term significance as well. Navigation statistics show that around 30% of viewers on the dab page go there, which is reasonably high given that County Meath is a current extant county where people live... Might be worth a discussion? — Amakuru (talk) 15:28, 30 May 2024 (UTC)
- Ysleta del Sur Pueblo → Tigua (currently a redirect back to Ysleta del Sur Pueblo) (move · discuss) – Page is about both a pueblo and corresponding tribe, both sometimes called Tigua. "Tigua" therefore makes more sense to describe both together, and already redirects to that page. — Moriwen (talk) 00:46, 30 May 2024 (UTC)
- Just as a note, we have the page Tiwa Puebloans as well, which purports to talk about Tigua people... and if the article Ysleta del Sur Pueblo is intended to refer to a geographical location, perhaps it should remain thus. The situation is a bit confusing to be honest, and perhaps an RM involving those who know about this topic would be advisable. — Amakuru (talk) 15:12, 30 May 2024 (UTC)
- Seconded, there's too much going on and we might make it worse. ASUKITE 17:05, 31 May 2024 (UTC)

- @Pepperbeast: I'm contesting this because it appears to be consistently capitalized in sources (i.e., the standard for MOS:CAPS). Additionally, Dives Akuru (without the h) seems to be the WP:COMMONNAME (see Google Ngrams). - Mealy Mountains National Park Reserve → Akami−Uapishkᵘ−KakKasuak−Mealy Mountains National Park Reserve (restricted by the titleblacklist, which page movers can override) (move · discuss) – Move to official government-designated English-language name. Similar case to Baaj Nwaavjo I'tah Kukveni – Ancestral Footprints of the Grand Canyon National Monument. Could not move it myself due to the uncommon ᵘ character. - @QuincyMorgan See WP:OFFICIALNAME. Wikipedia prefers to use the commonly-used name, even if it's not the official name. Same for WP:CONCISE, which encourages the use of a shorter name as long as it's not ambiguous. Per sources like this, the park is
