Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

- Michael Malone (basketball) → Michael Malone (move · discuss) – Imagine this gets contested, and I think that is worthwhile. But, the basketball coach over the last month has averaged 1683 pageviews daily and over 52,000 total. Its median is 1431 views. Of all the pages with "Michael Malone", the basketball coach accounts for 97.9% of all pageviews. Since 5/4/23, he accounts for 97.2% of all pageviews. This, despite seven other pages. As a result, I do believe the basketball coach should have the base, non-disambiguated named for "Michael Malone". Debartolo2917 (talk) 01:42, 6 May 2024 (UTC)
- Cajeput oil → Cajuput oil (currently a redirect back to Cajeput oil) (move · discuss) – Article was moved from Cajuput to Cajeput in 2014: "Sphilbrick moved page Cajuput oil to Cajeput oil over redirect: predominant spelling". However Wiktionary has "cajuput" as the main listing and "cajeput" as an alternative form. Matt Gies (talk) 17:19, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
- This might benefit from an RM because it was moved, and there's another reply in the talk page mentioning the title being incorrect. Pinging @Sphilbrick as they're mentioned here. All this occurred many years ago though so things may have changed. ASUKITE 14:45, 6 May 2024 (UTC)
- Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades (currently a redirect to Al-Qassam Brigades) → Al-Qassam Brigades (move · discuss) – Super-dooper ultra common name move request here - just can't seem to override the redirect from my end. The long-form is rarely used in practice. Iskandar323 (talk) 19:51, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
- Music City 200 (currently a redirect to Music City 150) → Music City 150 (move · discuss) – This race has been renamed from "Music City 200" to "Music City 150" this year due to a change in the race's distance (https://www.arcaracing.com/2023/12/12/arca-menards-series-east-at-nashville-fairgrounds-speedway-2/). It previously had this race name and distance in 2007. Former names of races get redirects to the current name of the race/article title so the "Music City 150" redirect will need to be removed for the page to be moved. - Template:Los Angeles Metro Rail lines (currently a redirect to Template:Los Angeles Metro Rail) → Template:Los Angeles Metro Rail (move · discuss) – Purely technical, no other template is named the new name right now, most other route diagram templates for public transit systems just use the same name for their respective articles. - The Big Ride (The Boys) → The Big Ride (move · discuss) – the article refers to an episode of The Boys, however there is no existing article called only The Big Ride as it only serves as a redirect for the page The Big Ride (comics) but there are the only two articles with both of them currently using bracket to differentiate them which but one of them doesn't actually need it since there are only two pages with the name of The Big Ride. But I need help to move it since I can't due to an existing redirect. I would be grateful. Ulises1126 (talk) 02:50, 6 May 2024 (UTC)
- You yourself are the one that moved The Big Ride to The Big Ride (comics), and I do not see how the television episode adaptation of the comic book, "The Big Ride" (The Boys), should be the primary topic over The Big Ride. Uncontroversial a move this would not be. IzzyBell Oskverry (talk) 11:35, 6 May 2024 (UTC)
- User:OToToT/Naomi Payton → Naomi Payton (currently a redirect instead to Love Live! Superstar!!) (move · discuss) – Naomi Payton now has more activities than the time when the page was created. (See: ja wiki) I think she can fit the wiki standard now. Thus, I want to move it back to article space, so everyone can know her and make edits to reflect her current status.
