Welcome!

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome!Template:Z129

Hello Lourdescab,

It seems to me that an article you worked on, Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Enrique Sanchez, may be copied from http://www.latinamericanart.com/en/artists/enrique-sanchez/biography.html. It's entirely possible that I made a mistake, but I wanted to let you know because Wikipedia is strict about copying from other sites.

It's important that you edit the article and rewrite it in your own words, unless you're absolutely certain nothing in it is copied. If you're not sure how to fix the problem or have any questions, there are people at the help desk who are happy to assist you.

Thank you for helping build a free encyclopedia!Template:Z18 MadmanBot (talk) 22:35, 17 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Formas Azules.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement of https://www.latinamericanart.com/wp-content/uploads/dscf0838.jpg. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Your account has been blocked indefinitely for advertising or promotion and violating the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use. This is because you have been making promotional edits to topics in which you have an undisclosed financial stake, yet you have failed to adhere to the mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a form of conflict of interest (COI) editing which involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is strictly prohibited. Using this site for advertising or promotion is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia.

If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, please read our guide to appealing blocks to understand more about unblock requests, and then add the text {{unblock|reason=your reason here ~~~~}} at the end of your user talk page. For that request to be considered, you must:

  • Confirm that you have read and understand the Terms of Use and paid editing disclosure requirements.
  • State clearly how you are being compensated for your edits, and describe any affiliation or conflict of interest you might have with the subjects you have written about.
  • Describe how you intend to edit such topics in the future. MER-C 11:36, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Draft:Enrique Sánchez Maldonado, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

  • It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
  • It appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement of latinamericanart.com/en/artist/enrique-sanchez. (See section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. GSS💬 12:47, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Currently, I have all required permissions (scanned copies) from the artist. I will upload them to prove that the "section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion" is not relevant. Lourdescab (talk) 16:50, 8 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Request reason:

Please consider unblocking my account due to the following changes: # I understood that I have been blocked for: ## the presence of the text fragments in the article that are identical to some fragments of the "Biography" available at the "https://www.latinamericanart.com/en/artist/enrique-sanchez/". ## undisclosed copying of images originally provided at the "https://www.latinamericanart.com/en/artist/enrique-sanchez/". # I will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and # I will make useful contributions instead, i.e.: ## rewrite the text in order to resolve the abovementioned "1.1" and to improve the article's quality by introducing inline citations and refactoring the references. ## mention the URL of the original image according to "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Criteria_for_speedy_deletion#F9" to resolve "1.2". Question for administrator

The article that has been blocked is about a "living person" (Enrique Sánchez M.).

In the recent decline reason (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Lourdescab) the cause of block is "for advertising and promotion".

According to the "Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons" page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons) "All quotations and any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be supported by an inline citation to a reliable, published source." The "User talk:Lourdescab" page contains previous unblock request with the corresponding statement "and to improve the article's quality by introducing inline citations and refactoring the references".

Unfortunately, I can't improve the article's quality because of its blocked status.

Please note that I read Wikipedia's articles about creating articles and corresponding issues.

According to "If you don't understand some detail of the policy, you can ask the administrators that blocked you any clarification about their actions, and they're expected to answer them." (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons) I'm asking you to kindly review the following options:

1. I ask you to please unblock the article in order to improve the article's quality.

2. Otherwise, please kindly explain what actions are expected from my side to unblock the article.

--Lourdescab (talk) 12:17, 29 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The article is not blocked, you are blocked. You retain access to your talk page so that you may appeal your block. If you use it for anything else then that access will, sooner or later, be removed. You've made two appeals already, neither of which address the causes of your block. Make your next appeal a good one. Cabayi (talk) 12:37, 29 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Account unblock request

Hi, I am respectfully requesting that you unblock my account. The reason you posted for the block is the following:

“A tag has been placed on File:La Banca del Parque.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. I am the owner and director of LatinAmericanArt.com. We service galleries and museums and do not work directly with artists. So this may explain why this looks like infringement of the images and biography that appear on our site.

We have some relationships with established artists and this is the case with Enrique Sánchez M. I have been trying to upload a Wikipedia profile for him. I have not been paid to do this. After realizing how difficult it is to add an artist profile, maybe in the future I will ask to be remunerated for this task as I would like to add some other established artists.

One of the mistakes I made was copying the biography word for word. After speaking to the artist, I edited the wikipedia biography so it would be different and not violate the Wikipedia Terms but that did not work in one of my requests to unblock my account.

The artist has granted me permission in writing to use each of the images I uploaded. Furthermore, the artist has granted me permission to donate the images to Wikipedia.

Please consider unblocking my account so that I may: 1. Upload permissions 2. Donate all images to Wikipedia 3. Finish this artist's profile

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

Question about my account

Hi, I sent a request to unblock my account about 10 days ago. It took a couple of days before. I would appreciate a response at your earliest convenience. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:6C56:5000:7CD0:1DEE:FBFB:2087:510 (talk) 18:05, 5 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Lourdescab (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

Hi, first of all, I would like to apologize that I didn't mention the reason for my block in my previous unblock request. I understand that I was blocked for "undisclosed paid editing and likely compromised account", but in my defense, I would like to confirm that I am not paid to create Draft:Enrique Sánchez Maldonado nor I share my account details with anyone. I am the owner and director of LatinAmericanArt.com and I do not work directly with artists. I have relationships with established artists and this is the case with Enrique Sánchez M. I have been trying to upload a Wikipedia profile for him. I have not been paid to do this. I went through to read WP:COI and understand that I may have a conflict of interest that I'm willing to disclose as per the guidelines.

As I understand that I uploaded images that were deleted due to copyright infringement, this was because I am the owner of the website LatinAmericanArt.com and I thought it was fair to upload photos that I own but now I know I was mistaken and I should have provided copyright permissions to Wikipedia Commons. I assure you that I will follow Wikipedia guidelines and policies in the future so I would like to request you to unblock my account so I can continue editing. If I am unblocked, I will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and I will make useful contributions instead. I will be editing pages related to art according to WP:NPOV, WP:V, WP:RS, WP:COI, WP:COPYVIO etc. and will not directly edit pages where I have a conflict of interest and follow the WP:COIEDIT rules.

Thank you. Lourdescab (talk) 16:21, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Wikipedia does not have profiles, it has articles. You say that you will not directly edit pages where you have a conflict of interest, but say that you want to edit about art, which clearly falls within your conflict of interest. While "art" is certainly very broad, we will need to know what specifically you wish to edit about before considering unblocking you, as well as any topics completely unrelated to your conflict of interest that you might edit about. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 09:04, 28 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@331dot: Thank you for reviewing my unblock request. I may have a conflict of interest with a few artists but not with most of them as there are thousands. My interest in art does not mean that I will only be editing articles about those I personally know. when I'm unblocked I will work on fixing issues on existing pages such as Afewerk Tekle which require a lot of sources and the first source is permanently dead so I will replace it with another source for example this book (Originally published in 1981) that has information about him on page 28. Also, I randomly found Ben Agbee which requires more citations for verification and I will add some new sources as per WP:RS such as this book source for Contemporary African Art calendar. There are pages like these that are completely unrelated to me where I will help in improve and many other pages with such issues.
