Welcome!

Hello, Brenda CNola, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Brinckenhoff House - Now operating as an Historically renovated Inn, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines, and may not be retained.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{help me}} on this page, followed by your question, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Questions or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Tagishsimon (talk) 02:55, 20 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Brinckenhoff House - Now operating as an Historically renovated Inn requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.brinckerhoffinn.com/history.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. NO COPYRIGHT EXISTS...BECAUSE A COPYRIGHT SYMBOL IS ATTACHED TO WEB DOES NOT A COPYRIGHT MAKE. IN DOING DILIGENCE YOU CAN SEE THAT NO COPYRIGHT EXISTS. I WOULD LIKE TO THINK THAT DILIGENCE IS DONE PRIOR TO ASSERTIONS OF THE CONTRARY.

Please do not use Wikipedia to promote businesses, like you did in the article Brinckenhoff House. Wikipedia is not a trade directory. If you want to list a company for potential customers to find, please consider alternative outlets. Thank you. Drm310 🍁 (talk) 04:05, 20 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Also... THIS IS NOT A BUSINESS PROMOTION THIS IS TO ANSWER THE DAILY CALLS AND EMAIL ABOUT THE HISTORY OF THE PROPERTY. IN THAT THE SAME FAMILY OWNED IT FOR 297 YEARS (MY FAMILY) WE NO LONGER OWN OR OPERATE THE PROPERTY BUT WANTED TO KEEP THE HISTORICAL RECORD INTACT.

You cannot post copyrighted material on Wikipedia even if you are the copyright holder, unless special licensing permissions are in place. In short, a copyright owner cannot offer Wikipedia a one-time license for use. Rather, the copyright to the material has to be released – permanently and irrevocably – into the public domain or under a free copyright license that is compatible with Wikipedia's licenses. This is because Wikipedia aims to be freely distributable and copyable by anyone, so all content must be licensed for that purpose. You can learn more about this policy at Wikipedia:Copyrights. THERE IS NO COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL. BECAUSE A WEB DESIGNER THOWS A COPYRIGHT SIGN ON A PAGE DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY COPYRIGHT THAT INFORMATION. COPYRIGHT ARE FILED THROUGH THE REQUISITE GOVERNMENTAL OFFICES AND NO COPYRIGHT EXISTS FOR THIS MATERIAL. AS CLAIM OF SUCH DOES NOT MAKE IT SO.

Another problem is notability. I am not sure the topic you are writing about is notable enough, as Wikipedia defines it, to have an article. We require write-ups in reliable third party sources such as newspapers, magazines, or online publishers to establish notability. New articles about persons or things that are not notable are typically deleted.

A third problem is conflict of interest. Writing an article about your own business or that of a client is strongly discouraged, as it is difficult to maintain the required neutral point of view. EVERYTHING PUBLISHED SOURCES FROM BOOKS ABOUT THE BRINCKERHOFF FAMILY AND THE INN IS LISTED IS SOURCE GUIDES THOUGH OUT THE WORLD...HARDLY SELF PROMOTION. WE GET MORE REQUESTS TO TOUR THE PROPERTY THAN WE DO IN RESERVATIONS.

If you'd like to use the copyrighted content in an article, you can follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission on how to obtain the proper licensing. If you are the copyright holder, refer to Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for how to grant us permission to use your content. Alternatively, you could write a new article that does not closely paraphrase the material available online. See Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources for more information. However you would then still have to abide by the conflict of interest guideline, not intend to use Wikipedia for promotion, and even so, there is there is still a likelihood that the article may be deleted due to lack of notability. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 04:48, 20 October 2018 (UTC).
