Welcome to Wikipedia from McDoobAU93

Hi, PatTag2659. I welcome you to Wikipedia! Thank you for all of your edits. I hope you like editing here and being part of Wikipedia! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); when you save the page, this will turn into your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or put {{helpme}} (and what you need help with) on your talk page and someone will show up very soon to answer your questions. You also might want to consider being "adopted" by an experienced user who would show you how wikipedia works through a program called adopt-a-user. Again, welcome!

References

You seem to have created the page Redd Rockett's Pizza Port without any third party references for importance. I assume any major Disneyland attraction would have such references, so it would help very much to put them in at the first edit.

Disambiguation link notification

Hi. When you recently edited Redd Rockett's Pizza Port, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Disneyland Park (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

List of stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Thank you for your recent addition to the subject page. Please do note, however, that the page is for stars _on_ the walk of fame, not stars _soon to be_ on the walk of fame. In the past, some stars set to be added to the walk never got there! For this reason is is preferred that additions to the page wait until the actual ceremony. Thanks again. Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article Tara Strong, please cite a reliable source for your addition. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. See Wikipedia:Citing sources for how to cite sources, and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Kristanna Loken

Hi. Welcome to Wikipedia, and thanks for working to improve the site with your edit to Kristanna Loken, as we really appreciate your participation. However, the edit had to be reverted, because Wikipedia cannot accept material that is not accompanied by reliable, verifiable source explicitly cited in the text in the form of an inline citation. Citation do not go in edit summaries. You can, however, learn how to make them here.

Regarding Starpulse in particular, that publication is not considered to be a reliable source, as was indicated on the Reliable Sources Noticeboard here.

If you have any other questions about editing, or need help regarding the site's policies, just let me know by leaving a message for me in a new section at the bottom of my talk page. Thanks. :-) Nightscream (talk) 02:39, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for signing up for this project. It is a very busy and active project with lots going on and we can always use more help and especially a fresh set of eyes. If you haven't done so already you might want to add Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Aircraft to your watch list as this is where much of the background discussion occurs. You may also want to watch Wikipedia:New articles (Aircraft) as this is where newly created articles get listed for peer review. Having a look over these new articles is a great way to get a feel for how things are done on the project and also most new articles need reviewing anyway. If you have any questions you can leave me a note or post at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Aircraft, either way you will get a quick response. - Ahunt (talk) 11:39, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed blackout in protest of RA 10175

Dear Patrick Cristiano,

Greetings!

As a Filipino Wikipedian, I hope you are aware of the passage of Republic Act No. 10175, also known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, which was signed into law by President Benigno Aquino III on September 12, 2012. Currently, there is a discussion on the Tambayan, the noticeboard for Philippines-related topics, about a proposed blackout of the English Wikipedia in the Philippines in order to protest the passage of RA 10175, similar to the blackout against SOPA and PIPA held earlier this year. I feel that your input on the subject will definitely help in the discussion.

Please feel free to participate in the discussion at Wikipedia talk:Tambayan Philippines#The Cybercrime Prevention Act, and I hope your input will help the Filipino Wikipedia community determine which is the best course of action against this law. Similarly, we hope to get as much input from as many Wikipedians as possible.

Thank you and maraming salamat po!

Kind regards,

WikiProject Amusement Parks Article Clean-Up

Recently, an issue has been brought up regarding the notability of many articles within WikiProject Amusement Parks. As a result, a page has been created regarding this issue as well as a possible solution (which will be on-going). In a nut-shell, certain articles will be picked to be reviewed in each stage and the WikiProject members (you) will decide if the article should be deleted or kept based on Wikipedia's notability guidelines.

I hoping this will work and if it doesn't, oh well...I tried.

Help to understand process

Hi Pat! I am sorry to ask you help, but I am ignorant about the correct (official?) process. Could you, if you can find time in your busy schedule, help me understand how the article Taurino Araujo can be "translated" from "wiki-pt", if it does not exist in Portuguese?

Thank you. Luizpuodzius (talk) 21:37, 14 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Luiz, I actually do not speak nor understand Portuguese, although I can still help you if you can clarify with what you meant: You want the article Taurino Araujo to be "translated" from the Portuguese Wikipedia, but it does not exist in the Portuguese Wikipedia? Perhaps you can clarify with what you mean by "translated" and "if it does not exist in Portuguese?". Thanks! - PatTag2659, a hopeful aviator (talk) 01:27, 15 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your prompt response! I agree that I failed to communicate clearly my idea. I rarely participate in the "Wiki-en", and devote most of my time attempt to bring the "Wiki-pt" to the 1 million article mark. Nevertheless, whenever I fell that my English skill can be applied to help the project in English, I use it. Some months ago, we have noted that a group had been trying to associate the name Taurino Araujo with the Portuguese "philosophy" article presenting him as one of the greatest thinker of the XX century. After a brief perusal of the references, I noted that they were all either part of his association or by friends promoting his name. Further investigation revealed that the article was deleted and restored several times since 2012, and finally, last week,it was decided - by vote - that any attempt to restore the article in Portuguese will be considered an act of vandalism. In this vein, I do not understand why the "wiki-En" accepts the existence of such article.
I don't know how to request to remove this the article that - in the Portuguese/Brazilian wiki - was considered be just propaganda. The fact that even the birth place of the person in the article believes that such article should not exist, would not be enough reason to justify the removal of the propaganda from the "wiki-en"? What is necessary to do send a message (delete the article) to people that wants to use the project just as tool toplaced their name on top of the Google searches? I hope this noted help clarify my intentions and request. Thanks. Luizpuodzius (talk) 03:52, 15 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
To clarify based on what I have seen from the Taurino Araujo talk page, the English Wikipedia article was translated from the Portuguese Wikipedia, but its wiki-pt article has since been deleted? - PatTag2659, a hopeful aviator (talk) 11:24, 15 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Obama's New York trip

I added a short trip President Obama will make to New York today to the List of presidential trips made by Barack Obama during 2015 article. It was a little awkward, since he will be in New Jersey, then in NYC, then back to New Jersey. While I added New York, I saw no reason to add ANOTHER trip to New Jersey, but wanted to get your thoughts. Thanks. Oh if you reply here, please ping me. Thanks!!! Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of List of presidential trips made by Barack Obama during 2016, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://everything.explained.today/List_of_presidential_trips_made_by_Barack_Obama/.

It is possible that the bot was mistaken and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

Please do care to read

Hi, I'm Apettyfer why did you put a rowspans on the television section of Liza Soberano article when there is a warning note not to put a rowspans, didn't you know about the WP:DTT? and Please be a neutral contributor. Thank You Apettyfer (talk)

I will take the rowspan part as my fault for scrolling down the edit box too fast. I was, perhaps inexcusably, unaware of WP:DTT at the time of my edit. However, I would like to ask if you can be kind enough to clarify the parts of my edits that constitute to my "un-neutrality" as a contributor to that article so that I may learn as an imperfect editor. Specifically in this edit, you completely deleted the entire paragraph. In the edit summary, you said: "Poor contribution and it un-neutral point of view". What I do not understand is how that chunk was un-neutral when it is a fact that she will star in an upcoming series, which is part of her career, and there were even sources cited in an effort to address WP:NOR. Were these sources unreliable? You did not even care to simply delete the one or two or three words that made it un-neutral. I would also like to know what you meant by "poor contribution". Thank you. PatTag2659, a hopeful aviator (talk) 18:01, 16 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You changed almost everything that was written, as if there was something wrong. You add a lot of personal analysis, that is base from what you know and not from the reference. See: WP:REFB. Reference does not support the sentences you make up but rather the source of the "write up itself" was also contain in the reference. It is not like unreliable source but I think there will be more veracious sources of information out there sooner when that upcoming series is going to air. Also You put things that is unnecessary like "other names". The improvement you made was a kind of complicated. Some part was too concisely edited that the write up was already lacking. Results that you deleted how to pronounce her "better known name" and also the part where she is scouted when that is the beginning of her career and how she was discovered. Anyways I thought the article was now better. Apettyfer (talk)

January 16, 2016

Hi, Please do not add commentary or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to Liza Soberano. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. And Information icon Please do not add original research or novel syntheses of published material to articles. Please cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. also please do not try to edited her article again because it was a poor work. SS1902 (talk)

Hi, can you be more specific on what parts of my edits violates WP:NOR and WP:SYN? Also, please be kind. Saying that I should not edit the article again because of "poor work" is insulting and I would wish to have you reported under WP:NPA. PatTag2659, a hopeful aviator (talk) 16:42, 16 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Apettyfer is right. You changed everything as if there was something wrong, you could just add and edited some piece of it but then you edited it and it was already lacking of information. your edits turn into some shoddy article, you changed some words that are so simple, yes simple is good but this is wikipedia not a fansite. SS1902 (talk) 09:28, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I understand Wikipedia is not a fansite. I have been editing here for the last four years or so with no one telling me anything about my editing being un-neutral until you guys arrived at my doorstep. So honestly, I think there may have been a slip in my edit that made it seem un-neutral because I'm not some fanboy. I'm just making sure that WP:BLP articles will be consistent with each other in terms of how information is presented. So please be nice when addressing unsatisfactory edits and notifying their contributors. Thank you. PatTag2659, a hopeful aviator (talk) 09:59, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
sorry if i offended you but I believe that its not about how long you we're here, its about how do you know how to use Wikipedia well. SS1902 (talk) 11:40, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I agree on your point since Wikipedia users learn certain guidelines as they contribute, aside from what they contribute. My point there basically is that we need to be mindful of how we treat, notify and remind wrongdoers or people who may be unaware that they have breached certain guidelines through their contributions. PatTag2659, a hopeful aviator (talk) 13:24, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You made contributions in good faith. You have nothing to apologize for. Thank you for your efforts in improving Wikipedia. Juneau Mike (talk) 09:43, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It’s really hard to be conscious of this on a minute-by-minute basis online, but the Internet is made of people and it works best when WE (Wikipedia Editors) remember that this thing we call Wikipedia is not a series of tubes but a conglomeration of real live human beings. RE:Presidential visits to SE Asia article

Nice work on creating the United States presidential visits to Southeast Asia list! While going over several of the "presidential trip" articles, I made a couple of refinements to this article's introduction: removed the boldface "Southeast Asia" Link from the opening sentence, made some small wording adjustments, and changed the image (this was a personal preference change, so if you prefer the LBJ image over the map, go ahead and restore it). My intent here was to enhance, so please forgive me if I was too bold. Cheers. Drdpw (talk) 10:14, 22 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I do believe that user Yaysmay15's editing style (of adding entries on X in the Philippines articles that did not passed your criteria) is the same as the style of Vince daryl falcuitin. Take a look on the difference between the edits of Yaysmay15 and Vince daryl falcuitin. - Supergabbyshoe

Mr. PatTag2659, i very sorry for anything because i very so selfish for you but i now i learn my lesson is to listening to you about the instructions.

Well it's ok, unless you follow the guidelines on adding entries in the X in the Philippine articles. - Supergabbyshoe

Mr. PatTag2659, thanks for fixing up the 2016 in the philippines edits.

@PatTag2659: For now, Yaysmay15's edits are now constituting an edit war, and that user is now a problem to the Tambayan Philippines community. Once his edits on 2016 in the Philippines (and other XXXX in the Philippines articles) are reverted by another user (e.g. Hariboneagle927, Blake Gripling), he re-adds the removed events again, and that editing behavior is very persistent, even users have been warning him. I raised the issue of this user at the Tambayan Philippines talk page, and on the edit warring noticeboard, and Blakegripling requested for temporary protection to the 2013, 2014, and 2016 in the Philippines articles because of Yaysmay15's disruptive edits. I think Yaysmay15 wants every nationally covered event in the Philippines to "XXXX in the Philippines" articles, no matter how they are routine, non-notable, or "over-hyped", and that seems to fall below the Tambayan Philippines agreed criteria for events in XXXX in the Philippines.--TagaSanPedroAko (talk) 08:28, 7 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

BLPNAME

I wasn't notified by your revert of this edit of mine due to WP:BLPNAME, but I just thought I should drop my two cents.

Nothing at WP:BLP in any way gives a blanket provision against the RS-cited names of public figures' children. Exact birth dates aren't necessary. But names are a standard found in any encyclopedia. Also, WP:PRIVACY has nothing to do with this — that's about editors' privacy and not outing them.

Names and birthdates are perfectly fine to include if reliably sourced.. "Privacy concerns" are entirely moot if reliable sources provide names and birthdates of children regardless of notability (or lack thereof), especially when the parents themselves announce their births. One could perhaps simply go with birth year or birth month if desired, but not giving names when mentioning children is simply vague and unhelpful for readers.

I'm not really seeing a blanket prohibition against the names of celebrities children. The BLP link says, in part,

The names of any immediate, ex, or significant family members or any significant relationship of the subject of a BLP may be part of an article, if reliably sourced, subject to editorial discretion that such information is relevant to a reader's complete understanding of the subject. However, names of family members who are not also notable public figures must be removed from an article if they are not properly sourced.

The only requirement for removal is proper sourcing. In these cases, the sources are RS publications from the likes of Time, Inc., or an entertainment channel from NBCUniversal. And honestly, the names of a subject's children is a standard part of any biographical reference, which suggests an academic and ethical standard for inclusion. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 11:28, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Editor of the Week [10 December 2016]

Editor of the Week
Your ongoing efforts to improve the encyclopedia have not gone unnoticed: You have been selected as Editor of the Week for diligence to a neutral point of view on Obama-related timelines. Thank you for the great contributions! (courtesy of the Wikipedia Editor Retention Project)

User:Buster7 submitted the following nomination for Editor of the Week:

As the eight years of editing the Timeline of the presidency of Barack Obama (2009), Timeline of the presidency of Barack Obama (2010), Timeline of the presidency of Barack Obama (2011), Timeline of the presidency of Barack Obama (2012), Timeline of the presidency of Barack Obama (2013), Timeline of the presidency of Barack Obama (2014), Timeline of the presidency of Barack Obama (2015) and Timeline of the presidency of Barack Obama (2016) come to an end, I would like to nominate Editor PatTag2659 for his unquenchable assistance in making sure the timelines were pertinent and important in a historic sense and that they remained free from political bluster. For years these articles have been edited with brevity and clarity as the guiding precepts. It is commendable that PatTag and others made sure these timeline articles managed to stay out of the fray of the usual political conflicts for articles of this kind.

You can copy the following text to your user page to display a user box proclaiming your selection as Editor of the Week:
