== Patent case ==
In June 2012, as Xiao-i sued [[Apple Inc.]], Max Yuan Hui was involved into the eight-year-long patent invalidity litigation. The Xiao-i chatbot had been granted a patent in 2009 (Patent No.: ZL200410053749.9), described as a chat robot system that “can complete conversations in natural language,” and Max Yuan Hui believed that the features and technical path between the Xiao-i chatbot and Apple's [[Siri]] were consistent.<ref>{{Cite web |date=2021-09-07 |title=Xiaoi Robot Seeks Preliminary Injunction Against Apple in Shanghai Patent Infringement Suit |url=https://www.chinaiplawupdate.com/2021/09/xiaoi-robot-seeks-preliminary-injunction-against-apple-in-shanghai-patent-infringement-suit/ |access-date=2024-03-05 |website=China IP Law Update |language=en-US}}</ref> After multiple rounds of appeals and trials, the Supreme People's Court Of the People's Republic of China made a final ruling in June 2020, upholding the validity of Xiao-i's patent.<ref>{{Cite web|url=https://www.scmp.com/tech/big-tech/article/3148000/chinese-ai-firm-seeks-stop-apples-iphone-production-sales-ahead-new|title=Chinese AI firm pushes Siri claim to stop Apple's iPhone production, sales|date=September 8, 2021|website=South China Morning Post}}</ref>

In September 2021, Xiao-i demanded that Apple cease the sale of [[iPhone]] products that have allegedly infringed on Xiao-i's patent and claimed [[Renminbi|RMB]] 10 billion in compensation.<ref>{{Cite web|url=https://www.cnbc.com/2020/08/03/chinese-ai-company-files-1point4-billion-lawsuit-against-apple.html|title=Chinese artificial intelligence company files $1.4 billion lawsuit against Apple|date=August 3, 2020|website=CNBC}}</ref>

As of today, this dispute remains unresolved.
