Category:Wikipedians in Annapolis has been nominated for discussion

Category:Wikipedians in Annapolis has been nominated for possible deletion, merging, or renaming. A discussion is taking place to decide whether this proposal complies with the categorization guidelines. If you would like to participate in the discussion, you are invited to add your comments at the category's entry on the categories for discussion page. Thank you. * Pppery * it has begun... 14:55, 27 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It can be possible renaming to "Wikipedians in Annapolis, Maryland". LucasKannou (talk) 15:08, 27 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting without discussion?

Again, there was no year 0, so the first decade was 1–10. At some point in the 1990s people lost their sense of time and just started rounding down. There's a reason those cats were there for so long. WP:STATUSQUO and WP:BRD are the principles you should rely on. Walter Görlitz (talk) 16:56, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The first year of the 2010s decade was 2010. LucasKannou (talk) 16:59, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No, 2010s ran from 2011 to 2020 as explained by the regression to year zero above. You are now edit warring. Your next revert will place you at beyond WP:3RR. Walter Görlitz (talk) 17:01, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You've got a lot of self-reverts to go make. Walter Görlitz (talk) 17:04, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
And I have opened a discussion at the albums project. Did you have a chance to read STATUSQUO and BRD yet? Walter Görlitz (talk) 17:08, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I read both of the WP:STATUSQUO and WP:BRD. LucasKannou (talk) 17:13, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, LucasKannou,
That is not the message that these notices is meant to send! Go ahead and place appropriate pages in these categories. We tag empty categories when we come across them to mark the day and time when we find them empty. If they are still empty in 7 days, they are deleted. If they are not empty during this 7 days, the tag is removed. "Speedy deletion" in this criteria, is not actually that speedy! The tagging is just to mark the beginning of this 7 day period so the system can keep track of them. But often times, an editor creates a category and then later places pages in that category before the 7 days is up. They usually don't make this many categories all at once but that is your call. We don't want to get rid of useful categories so, by all means, if you think they are valid and helpful to readers, use them to categorize articles in the next week.
And also, if categories are deleted simply for being empty categories, they can always be recreated later, when they are needed. It's not like categories that have gone through a CFD deletion discussion and are deleted and can't be recreated again. We just don't want thousands of empty categories that are not being used and this is the system that has been created to deal with that. I hope this explains things in a way that templates don't. Liz Read! Talk! 18:15, 7 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I will place appropriate categories for stubs. LucasKannou (talk) 18:19, 7 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
and I will never recreate those categories ever again. LucasKannou (talk) 18:20, 7 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Notes about {{pp-semi-protected}} and similar

Hey, i appreciate you adding the {{pp-semi-protected}} templates to some protected templates, but you have to be careful. Make sure that you put the protection inside <noinclude> tags, as if you dont, the protection then gets transcluded to any page that uses this template, leading to a Category:Wikipedia_pages_with_incorrect_protection_templates issue. Thanks. Aidan9382 (talk) 06:03, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I make sure i will put in it. LucasKannou (talk) 06:05, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for finding a source for this. I'm not sure if you're interested in this image specifically or just images in general, but just as a heads up I'm probably going to list it at WP:FFD later today to evaluate the appropriateness of its use as non-free content. OK, I found the source of the image. LucasKannou (talk) 14:39, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Teyora - Development first look!

Hi! I'm Ed6767, the original creator of RedWarn, now one of the most popular tools on the English Wikipedia that's been used by over 1,000 Wikimedians to make over 300,000 edits since mid-2020 that's been praised for its user friendliness and ease of use, but criticised for its limited functionality. I'm leaving this message as I think it may be of interest here - I left the RedWarn project in November to develop Teyora, my successor to RedWarn (alongside Chlod's UltraViolet). It's a new in development web app that uses some of the latest web technologies to create a highly extendable all in one editing tool with a focus on administration, counter vandalism and general patrolling - not to mention, it'll work on every Wikimedia project without any prior configuration and can be used by any user with at least auto-confirmed rights*. Now, I'm ready to give the Wikimedia community a first look at what I've been doing over the past six months and what to expect going forward.

You can check out the 20 minute first look at the in development version on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzlpnzXdLP4.

There's lots more to expect too! Why not read the full details page at meta:Teyora and leave any feedback, comments or wishes at meta:Talk:Teyora (please leave any correspondence there to keep discussion centralised). If you're interested, you can leave your signature

*with basic features, advanced features require configuration. To prevent abuse, auto-confirmed users will be in a restricted mode until approved by an admin or via rollback rights.

I am able to make categories. LucasKannou (talk) 15:46, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Are you able to make a catagory for "Grahovo" in Montenegro, I also saw that there was a catagory created for 1502 establishments in Montenegro. Surix321 (talk) 21:30, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No, I am not going to make a category for "Grahovo" in Montenegro. LucasKannou (talk) 21:38, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Sister Dynamite.png

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Sister Dynamite.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:26, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I've added back the image of the album cover. So it has been used in the Sister Dynamite article. LucasKannou (talk) 19:15, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Cropping of non-free content

You or a bot in your control recently resized and cropped this image. While resizing images is obviously perfectly fine (and necessary), I would ask that you please refrain from cropping images of artwork in the future. There is a reason the image included so much empty space; the work is very small and that needs to be communicated through the picture. I specifically took that photograph (and several others) with Wikipedia usage in mind, and they are a specific aspect ratio for a reason. Thanks! 19h00s (talk) 03:10, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Some advice…

Hello, I saw you had reverted vandalism by this user. You had subsequently added an only warning and final warning here and here. My advice is that you can report persistent vandals to AIV, a noticeboard for administrators to take action on vandals across Wikipedia. Typically, you should report them if they continue to vandalize after a final warning. If you see this text on their talk page "You may be blocked from editing without further warning", and they continue to vandalize, best report to AIV. As I see you are using RedWarn, you can report it as easy as going to the user's talk page, clicking on the three dots, and select "report user to AIV". Then, you will be given a drop-down menu over the following rationale. Now, since I already reported the user, you don't have to, but keep this in mind when you see a similar case. Hopefully this helps! — 3PPYB6TALKCONTRIBS — 00:28, 23 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I will report this user when they vandalized before their fourth warning was given. LucasKannou (talk) 00:31, 23 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm assuming you meant after. Typically in some cases, yes, you can report before the final warning (such as vandalism-only accounts), but in most cases, you should only report after the final warning. Thanks! — 3PPYB6TALKCONTRIBS — 00:32, 23 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I will report after the final warning. LucasKannou (talk) 00:34, 23 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned image tagging

I've found four cases just now of you tagged an image as orphaned when it's both used in an article and has a single revision. What's going on? You need to slow down. -- ferret (talk) 00:24, 27 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

OK, if it has two or more revisions of the non-free file, i will make sure to tag it with Template:Orphaned non-free revisions LucasKannou (talk) 04:29, 27 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
