"Unused Templates Task Force" listed at Redirects for discussion

An editor has identified a potential problem with the redirect Unused Templates Task Force and has thus listed it for discussion. This discussion will occur at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2022 March 3#Unused Templates Task Force until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. eviolite (talk) 00:12, 3 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you

The Technician Barnstar
This barnstar is awarded to WikiCleanerMan for your tireless efforts in contributing to the maintenance of the Template namespace, and retirement of unused templates. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed. Thanks for all you do! Mathglot (talk) 08:56, 3 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, WikiCleanerMan,

I wanted to let you know that I relisted several of your nominations because no other editor had expressed an opinion about the nomination. I'm new to closing discussions at TFD so I do not know how common relisting nominations is there (it's very common in AFD) so the discussions could very well be closed early by another admin, one who is more familiar with TFD discussions and protocol. But I wanted to let you know that I relisted a few even though it's clear that you are very active at TFD and know what you are doing. I just feel more comfortable closing a nomination if I see agreement from at least one more editor who is active with templates and template editing. It would sure make decisions easier if we had about a half dozen more editors who checked in on TFD nominations who could share their opinions.

AFD is very active but RFD also has a very small group of editors who are familiar with the policies and practices surrounding redirects on Wikipedia. Most editors find their editing niche on Wikipedia but closures are easier and less controversial when there is a clear consensus surrounding a nomination. Thank you for all of the work you do here and help on cleaning up and cleaning out discarded or unused templates. Liz Read! Talk! 23:41, 9 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

NATO templates

Hi. Would you be able to check if any of the NATO templates in Category:NATO templates could be substituted and deleted? Thanks! — DaxServer (t · c · m) 17:59, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

DaxServer, the templates in the main templates category are used on at least three articles. It's up to you if you think they should be nominated, but I don't see any issue with them. They seem to be pretty useful in terms of their scope. --WikiCleanerMan (talk) 18:19, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I don't see any issue now ;) — DaxServer (t · c · m) 18:22, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
BTW, do you know of any tools/userscripts related to Templates, apart from the https://templatetransclusioncheck.toolforge.org/ ? — DaxServer (t · c · m) 18:25, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Not really, I don't use tools or userscripts when it comes to searching for templates or other transclusions for articles, cats, etc.. Might want to ask the other template project members. --WikiCleanerMan (talk) 18:33, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I applaud your ability to do massive cleanup efforts without using any of these tools. Thanks for your work! DaxServerOnMobile (talk) 16:58, 12 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Canada NTS map name templates

Since you had this series of templates deleted, breaking the ability of {{Canada NTS Map Sheet}} to display the name of each map sheet, can you please suggest to me an alternate method of implementing this functionality, perhaps involving Wikidata and a Lua module? -- Denelson83 21:30, 25 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed your addition of Category:Chris Rock to this template. Templates don't belong in content categories. DoubleCross () 04:08, 31 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!

Hi! While I recently called you "a bit overly eager of cleaning", I just checked your profile and I do really appreciate the work you do here on Wikipedia, so I wanted to say thank you! AdrianHObradors (talk) 12:53, 5 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Template:Canada NTS Map Name Links

Yes. It may now be deleted. It is not being used in any articles, and its functionality is really just for me to use, with the code residing in my template sandbox. -- Denelson83 20:18, 12 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Denelson, you can tag the template with G6 and state your rationale by saying you're the creator and it can go. --WikiCleanerMan (talk) 20:26, 12 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
