A barnstar for you!

The Baseball Barnstar
Thank you so much for your GA review of Ronald Torreyes! I know that it can be difficult reviewing articles that aren't exactly in your wheelhouse, especially ones that have been sitting in the slush pile for a while, so I commend you for taking it on. And I'll finish my FAC review tonight! — GhostRiver 18:19, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the barnstar! I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of your review. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 20:01, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The article Providence and Worcester Railroad you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Providence and Worcester Railroad for comments about the article. Well done! If the article has not already appeared on the main page as a "Did you know" item, or as a bold link under "In the News" or in the "On This Day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear in DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On This Day" column do not affect DYK eligibility. GAN

Hello. I came here because I thought you could help me with reviewing good article nominees. I have never done this before, so it’s always good to use some help. I want to do one with you, and then do some more and check with you or others and see if it’s good. Thanks for helping correct my mistake. I will try to do better next time. Cheers! BubbaDaAmogus (talk) 22:41, 2 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@BubbaDaAmogus: Thanks for the message, but I'm afraid I'm busy with other things onwiki at the moment and I am unable to directly supervise a GAN with you. You could ask at WT:GAN for assistance, but what I recommend is to do a review and then request a second opinion. What you did wrong was changing the articles to say they were GAs before actually doing the reviews. Have you read through Wikipedia:Good article nominations/Instructions#Reviewing? You can use one of the review templates to help you work through your review. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 23:00, 2 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to the 2022 WikiCup!

Happy New Year and Happy New WikiCup! The 2022 competition has just begun and all article creators, expanders, improvers and reviewers are welcome to take part. Best wishes for the New Year and an apology

Best wishes for the New Year and an apology
I hope the New Year brings you nothing but the best. I wanted to thank you for teaching me something I was not aware of prior. These days I mainly do recent changes patrolling; occasionally there are reports to AIV that administrators use the canned reply that ANI would be a better referral. When I has an issue with you, that I could not resolve, I brought it there. I had no idea what a toxic experience that was. It is my greatest regret to date here; there were a plethora of other avenues that I know now would have been less confrontational and dramatic. I am sorry for initiating that. Ifnord (talk) 21:49, 7 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Ifnord: Thanks for the message, and I accept your apology. I also want to offer you an apology of my own, I am not proud of how I acted at ANI towards you and other editors. I was frustrated, but I did not handle the situation appropriately, and said things I shouldn't have. I hope we can work together productively in the future. DYK for Providence and Worcester Railroad

On 8 January 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Providence and Worcester Railroad, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Providence and Worcester Railroad (train pictured) became independent in 1973 after 85 years of being leased? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Providence and Worcester Railroad. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Providence and Worcester Railroad), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Someone who likes train writing's compliment for you

I just want to tell you that you seem like a very mature person for what you do to these pages, and I actually like that. I don’t want to be one of those people who think what you do is questionable or bad. In fact, if you want to improve the pages I’ve written over the months, I wouldn’t mind at all. If it wasn’t for you, I would’ve never realized that railpictures.net doesn’t qualify as a good Wikipedia source, nor would I have known that you have to ask permission or create a talk page before you redirect an article. I really think you deserve a higher ranking as an editor or publisher on Wikipedia. Someone who likes train writing (talk) 03:23, 12 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Someone who likes train writing: Thanks for the message, what you said is very kind. I've noticed you around and I've always considered you to be a good editor. One thing I do want to clarify is that you don't necessarily have to leave a message on a talk page before redirecting an article. It depends on the circumstances. I have unilaterally redirected or merged articles when it made sense to do so. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 00:31, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I stand corrected. Thank you for the clarification and for your kind words to me. Someone who likes train writing (talk) 19:26, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Your GA nomination of Train

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Train you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Message delivered by Legobot, on behalf of Mark83 -- Mark83 (talk) 21:00, 14 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I've taken a first pass at the review. Please don't be put off by a lot of comments - I have quick failed some GA nominations recently because they were so far off. I think this article is good and not far off promotion at all. Happy to discuss any of my comments. And I'll finish up the other sections ASAP. Mark83 (talk) 18:31, 19 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Mark83: Glad to hear it's close to GA status. I was typing up some responses, but I'm going to wait until you're finished with the other sections so I don't edit conflict with you (already happened once). Trainsandotherthings (talk) 18:40, 19 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'll leave it alone and let you reply. That will give me time to spend time on the other sections and I can type that up when you're done? Mark83 (talk) 18:44, 19 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Mark83: I probably won't get to everything right away (am planning and packing things for a move two hours away from my current location today and the next week and a half), but I've left a few comments just now. I will work on the ones I replied to, so feel free to do the rest of the review and then I'll respond to more things. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 18:51, 19 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I know a rough guideline is 7 days to finish a nomination, but there's no need for you to feel pressure when you've other things on. Happy to be relaxed about timelines when we both know we're working on this. Mark83 (talk) 18:56, 19 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Boston, Barre and Gardner Railroad you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. If I need to add links in my replies, I'll reply here. That seems to be what makes the table eat entire sections. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 20:26, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
