Drug import accused in court
A Palmerston North man accused of importing methamphetamine has made a brief court appearance today.
In the Palmerston North District Court, Dylan Terry Richardson, 23, entered no pleas to charges of importing the class A drug and possessing it for supply.
Each charge carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
Defence lawyer Steve Winter said Richardson was called to court to allow him to make a bail application, but he decided he didn't want to.
He was remanded in custody until later this month.
Richardson was arrested at a Palmerston North property earlier this month in a combined police and customs sting after a package containing 15 grams of methamphetamine, thought to be worth $15,000, was intercepted by customs officers in Auckland.
