5 Arrested in Maine for “Molly” drugs by mail operation

Ellsworth, October 8, 2014- Agents from Maine Drug Enforcement’s Downeast Task Force based in Ellsworth arrested Five (5)individuals from Hancock County in a joint investigation with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department, the Ellsworth Police Department, the US Coast Guard Investigative Service, US Postal Inspectors and Homeland Security Investigators (HSI).

Acting on information received earlier this week, investigators from MDEA’s Downeast District Task Force opened an investigation involving the suspected shipment,through the US Mail, of a synthetic drug known as Methylone AKA: “Molly” to individuals in Sullivan, Maine.

As part of this investigation, on October 8, 2014, agents obtained and executed a search warrant on the residence of Ronald Brown, located on the Ashville Roadin Sullivan, Maine. When agents entered the residence they discovered that it was occupied by several individuals and that some of the drug that was recently shipped was being packaged for re-sale. Approximately three (3) ounces ofMethylone (“Molly”) with a street value of $6000 was seized during the investigation.

3. Jamie L. Brown- 12/05/79 (34),Sullivan, Violation of Conditional Release Class E Unlawful Possession of Schedule “W” Drugs Class D -Bail $1000 secured

4.Edward Muise -09/20/75 (39),Sullivan, Violation of Conditional Release Class E No Bail

5. Samantha Polchies- 02/03/89 (25),Sullivan, Violation of Conditional Release Class E No Bail

Methylone or “Molly” is a dangerous synthetic designer drug, similar to “Ecstasy” or“Bath Salts”. It is manufactured in laboratories and has no legitimate medical purpose. It said to combine the effects of hallucinogens, such as LSD, with the effects produced by “Bath Salts”. It is a schedule

It is anticipated that some of the charges against these individuals could be upgraded and that others may be charged.
