Blake Thorburn was driven away from home and family by a vicious fight over inheritance, returning only for a deathbed visit with the grandmother who set it in motion. Blake soon finds himself next in line to inherit the property, a trove of dark supernatural knowledge, and the many enemies his grandmother left behind her in the small town of Jacob’s Bell.
Pact is the second undertaking of Wildbow (J.C. McCrae in real life) following the completion of the popular superhero web serial Worm. Pact is a web serial in the modern supernatural genre, and was updated one chapter at a time on Tuesdays and Saturdays, 12:01am, eastern standard time. Chapters are grouped into arcs, five to ten chapters that cover a single theme or substory, with side content appearing between arcs. It now joins Worm as a finished work, having run for a little over a year and three months.
Any resemblance to real people, things or places is coincidental. Pact is liable to be dark, given the author’s tendencies & style. With that in mind, trigger warnings abound. Though efforts are made to treat all mature subjects with the gravitas it deserves, young and emotionally vulnerable readers are advised to skip over this story. Expect violence and foul language, and know that sex may well happen, though it will occur ‘offscreen’.
Pact is generally aimed at readers aged eighteen or older, acknowledging that some younger people are more than capable of handling the aforementioned material and topics, while some older people can’t. Use your own judgement, because you know yourself best.

You’re an excellent author! I’ve read both Worm and (now) Pact. I enjoy the worlds you create and the way you escalate the danger with every arc. It’s fantastic!
For some reason the capitals, R, P, C. and T, and lower-case f and p are doing some weird flickering on my screen. Don’t know if that’s intentional or not, but it seems to be slowing my computer down (though vista isn’t exactly fast) more than usual. Just thought I’d bring it to your attention. Anyone else experiencing this?

True dat, Worm had a weird effect on me, now, I can appreciate the hope radiating from everything else, especially in Brennus, which if my understanding is correct, was very heavily inspired by Worm, becoming two sides of the coin we like to call superhero genre in web series, though to be fair, so far, those masterpieces are my only experiences on the genre
And I realize I started rambling, again, what I wanted to say is, things were so hopeless in worm that I cannot look at other novels the same way as before, It’s like everything suddenly got more lighthearted without losing any seriousness it might have, making the really bad situations gain impact by contrast with the rest of the story. All in all, I consider it an improvement to my reading experiences in general
Hey, Wildbow. I’ve just uploaded the first ‘real’ chapter, and here’s your official invitation, as previously discussed! I’ve changed quite a bit about the chapter according to your feedback. The character should appear just a little more proactive as well, though she won’t really kick off until later in the arc. Dancer is going to appear in arc 2, after the first 5 posts.
Please let me know if it’s okay to mention you in my credits. You’ve probably had more influence on my writing than any of the other people listed there – whenever you see a character with hands jammed into pockets, there you go.

Will there be an audiobook/podcast for this like Worm has?
Worm’s was purely a fan venture, not official. It’s possible, but it’s up to the fans.
I was waiting until the whole story was completed. Now I can binge properly.
