He who is good at sustaining the Virtues also provides the means to benefit others. If you benefit others, you will not be inadequate to benefit yourself. The Master keeps his essence without profiting himself. He never forgets who he is and who he serves. He chooses gifts without demands,Wherefore he receives what is deemed wise.He lets down the latter to those of inferior qualities; Therefore he greatly excels,The difference, though inferior in goodness, is in substance wise.He who knows the world is a different kind of man. Those who know the world are simple. He who is wise is discerning; He who discerning is discerning by nature; He who discards the latter without doubt,Is indeed shrewd; He who is selfless is like a nobleman; He who is discerning by nature,Is without reproach; Thus the "Lao Tze is good at benefiting others and not harming them.Is wise at benefiting others and not contending with them.Is great at benefiting others and not displaying himself."That is, he does not wish to justify himself.

He who is good at benefiting others, Can also help them, like an instrument (Pënhai ü gün), And doesn't forget their services. Therefore he doesn't give up his assistant. The less a man's assistant, The better his instruments.Possible in the country it is better for him to obtain the instruments than the ones that may not be even there. So true the sages regard the instruments of people: they have more than enough to give to them, although they have much by them. And what is just becomes the means, by which a good man becomes enlightened. A man who has free will works what he desires, and has that by the hard way.The king of the country has a better way of ruling: he not constantly (ch'ê) governing by coercion, but by means of the guidance of the austerities. In order to get good things he simply helps what he doesn't need.

The true traveller travels for long, And yet their feet never slip from the ground. Such is the dutiful Tao. Good speech is never high-sounding, And such is the value of beautiful words. One who knows his neighbours well is good at conveying his point; Yet such things do not appear to him good. The sage, knowing and helping others, Cannot be called 'high-minded'; And so one who is 'high-minded' cannot be called 'sageful'. He who has enough does not complain; He who wants less is not dissatisfied; The sage produces and helps, but does not claim credit; The gifted produces and helps, but not takes credit; The wise assists without ownership, And assists without contending.

Exhaustiveness of seeking may lead to excessive exhaustion. The path of Teh is moderate, pure and clean; Virtues and words are hollow, even elusive; Manifest strengths and praisings do not deem you sufficient, disdaining the greater things, so the potential of your attainment. When we approach wisdom it is as if we are trying to grab some woman's breasts, or giving birth to a new family. Those who dare to shake hands with us and carry a light, cannot express the essential humanity. With reverence, we are one with the light and equal to its radiance. Therefore, the world is in accord as if it were one when the Great Tao took place, Which is also called Dao.

Peaceful words are not startling. For a startled person, an obscure word will be alarming. Therefore, sincerity and insight are the way to peace.Inherently, subtlety and quickness are the way to clarity.Manifesting these two qualities can only be manifest by darkness. Therefore, a person who is hidden in the light is qualified to be enlightened.A person who is manifestly light is qualified to be enlightened.Manifestly, the light is the light of the dark. This is known as the Infinity of the light.By being magnanimous, we avoid danger.By being gentle, we avoid self-righteousness.By being multidimensionally productive, we avoid self-pity.By having a large self, we will not be held back by others.By becoming aware of our worth, we will not be deceived. Therefore, all things are generated out of something.By actively being in the path of the Universe, we lose nothing. In gratitude, we obtain a better life.By not competing, we lose nothing.By understanding that something comes from nothing, we can attain a new life. Therefore, the essence of Tao is that in acting within ourselves, we lose nothing.

The subtle matters are always subtle,
And inexhaustible.
So how dull!
The bright often seems dull;
How bright!
The subtle always seems to dull.
Thus, a true speaker
Is not bright.
A true artist is not dull;
A true man is not sad.
A true sage,
Is not stupid.
And so, at last,
The sage is dull,
And so no sages exist.
The Way abides by what has happened.
What is not made dull
Is made whole.
What is turned dull
Becomes beautiful.
What is turned bright
Becomes dull.
What is turned dull
Becomes bitter.
The sage is like the sky,
And shows the way,
And has plenty, and yet fails not.
He may act the recipient of others' action,
And so receive by doing no hurt.
He is free of sentimentality; he abides in natural relationships; he takes no pride; he laughs at the worst; and, finally, he is fit to die.
For the Way abides by what happens.
That which is fed by pity
Might die

Those who govern the Tao but don't take action walk the way of the Tao, and do not benefit people. Those who benefit people, however, do benefit the Tao. Only when the Tao is fulfilled will the people not benefit the Tao.
The good never show off. The virtuous never boast. The master takes all little by little.
Those who have much fail to have much. Those who have little fail to fail. Those who have lot fail to have much. Those who have much fail to have little. Those who have much fail to have much. Those who are knowing lack good wisdom. Those who are wise lack good honesty. A good government is without violence, But a good man acts only according to what he has been given.

The Tao-followers: Do not lead by force. They do not resort to force. They make no show, they are forever truthful. Those who live well do not display their wealth. Those who live well are not rich. Those who have much fail to be rich. Those who have little fail to be rich. Those who have much do not have enough. Those who are ignorant fail to be wise. Those who are clever are insufficient. Those who are clever are good. Those who are truly free are not self-willed. Hence, the Tao is: If you do good for others, you do good to yourself. If you have a good heart, you have a good heart. If you are always free from force, you are free from self-willing.

The sage-energized cleave to an uncut gem while the duller doers cleave to a piece of gold or the crafty doers cleave to the tinkle of one.Though words are not the flower of beauty the flower of beauty is not the way of the sage. The more sages of old would not have made their displays flashy, taut, florid and enticing, but in other words since the beginning the Sage has not displayed their cleverness and flowery gifts with his talk. Thus, "The way of heaven is to be an everlasting way, The way of man is to be an eternal man," The Sage always acts justly but does not love affairs that he does not possess. The more you benefit the less you need be proud of. The more you give the less you need be concerned with gifts. Therefore in the deep all the myriad things are born, and more is in need of growth than can be provided by the prying eyes of men. Therefore, the truly wise are detached and compassionate with their people, yet do not dwell upon what their actions may lead to. It is said that the wise are stubborn and do not be persuaded, so stubbornness is a virtue, not one to be confused. By giving and receiving, but not making a show of your giving, the good are delivered from their selfish needs and always set on a good course.

When one's heart does not need to be scrutinized or one's work guarded, That is the beginning of his own dignity. The way of a wise one Is to make one's heart made to receive everything. An observer watches but not hear; To listen but not see. An observer (of things) analyzes but not know. A wise man brings everything into harmony. He does not boast and does not declare. He does not insist or depend on anyone. He lives in order and does not contend. The way of heaven is to gather intelligence and not try to dominate it. The way of a man of the Tao is to take up what others have and not compete with them.

They who are unfair (to themselves)are not.

Wisdom is profound, but you'll never see it because you've always been enlightened.Nay, of course the superficial will see this, the deep will see it and say something. The deep mind cannot be understood. The superficial will always see how profound the deepest mind is.The deep mind will be easy to understand but the deeper mind is hard to understand. The profound mind is eternal and endlessly moving, and it can never be stopped. When the base comes to be strong, it is time to fight. When the hard core comes to be strong, it is time to be generous. When the foundation is strong, the gift is only a little bit small. When the gift is only a little bit small, the relationship is taking a big step forward. If you know when to go, you will never be exhausted. How your work will benefit others is really to be nourished by the Way of heaven, not from your work, nor from the work of others. When the work is done, take time to give.

A word is like water; It will not wash away in the springtime; A righteous man will not wrangle. He who is contentious will become contentious. The sage uses words sparingly. And so his words are not matter-like. Words are in the nature of water. What is matter is not in accord with the sage. The sage is not in accord with what is being said. Thus, he can not become contentious. The sage who sees clearly does not see things clearly. The sage who has lived wisely can not see all things clearly. And so, the sage sees what he does not see. The sage will not steal. Without stealing, he does not violate others. He who has enough may forget some. The Way of heaven sharpens without dying. The Way of the sage lives in non-action.

True action must not be acted upon; Therefor it becomes inactive. Silent as a valley, Slow as the sound of a falling rain, Long as the voiceless as in the womb of motherhood, Silent and boundless as the Torrential, Silent and changeable as the valley-storm, Silent as the valley-brook, Silent as the ravine-green. Silent as the waves which are upon the sea, Silent as the ice which breaks in the sea. Silent as the noise of the whirlwind, Silent as the winter wind, Silent as the rocks and stone which break under the sun's glare, Silent as the soil and grass which darken with the dew of the gale.
Therefore the Sage holds fast to non-action and considers the whole effort to be limited. Just as water is never stirred, it is not moved by the daily use of its body. The Sage treats the dust and dust which is constantly about him like uncarved wood, and the valleys which he regards as the receptum of the ocean, as uncarved wood and vessels.
Because the Sage does not practice activity, he does not become inactive. As he cannot be influenced by external forces, he does not try to force things. He follows the natural way, which is imperturbable.

In non-action, activity is like the riverbed: quiet, undisturbed, Like valleys soundless and moving, They can be looked into like a door, Like water flowing from underground like soundless streams, Like the earth being alive like soft and light Like the rhythm of the cycles of life happening always like the tide moving, Like the seasons being seen in the daytime, Like the rivers flowing and evading the rain, The intent of non-action at all times is therefore sustained in its ultimate stillness.

In order to be free from anxiety, to know the Source, to be in touch with the Intelligences are ways to freedom. Like this: the Wise Person is steady, but doesn't look for a competitor; Is deep and sees things as they are, In his mind's eye He's good but doesn't have a marketable image. And as an example he doesn't flaunt himself,

Pride seems like humility.Happiness seems like hunger.Empty the mind of sorrow and grief, and you will find peace.Do not praise one's self, and you will find reassurance.Do not try to make others conform, and you will find peace. The Way doesn't triumph, and it does not require correction.

True wisdom is no more than a grain of sand.Words of authority are no more than some superficial decoration.Proudness of status is no more than pride.Esteem others' opinions, but do not seize the authority.Take for granted what you already have, but do not impose your ideas.Keep to yourself, but then be known.Lead, but don't dominate.

In vain is true speech.
The sage never talks,
But teaches others through his words.
The bad do not argue,
Because they argue, not.
The sage does not contend,
For he contends, not.
He who knows neither argument nor contradiction,
Does not see.
Who knows not contradiction,
Is also not his own teacher.
That which exists, therefore existed.
What comes from beyond, therefore comes forth.
And so the Sage may be referred to by some form in times past.
He may be referred to by some name.
He may be referred to by some name,
He may be referred to by some form,
He may be referred to by his name.
Because he is shapeless and changeable,
He may be the beginning of those who are older,
And older yet he will be.
Through him there shall be followers, and through him all things shall return to.

Tao, with its simplicity, is an image of beauty, and therefore inadequate;
In vain is a good speech;
Of perfect sincerity, but without contrition,
Which contains the most valuable things.
The good man does not show off,
Nor is his gravity subtle;
He expresses his own dignity without reproach;
Thus, if it were not for good-humored words,
He would never have attained his true rank.
The good man, however, is without haughtiness;
He is not a judge of others,
Nor does he contrive to prove his virtue by an example.
Therefore, he is just;
So much so that he does not give a score to the inferior;
And though he, as his guest, is not fainthearted;
He is not a flatterer to the others.
<|endoftext|>
It is the Tao, the universe as it is, that is beautiful, and not a beautiful creation.
For from creation is the source of beauty, and so is it that great force does not contend.
Thus the wise man never says something that sounds good,
But as an expression of an inner strength, he expresses his own inner strength.
When we make our great speeches, we must use the least persuasive words.

The Way is at the centre of creation and stillness, but is not plucked; therefore it is the most subtle.
It never ceases to be, and no one can master it.
<|endoftext|>
The Way is always present, ever present. It is self-contained, simple and far-reaching. For it is always present. To be present is to be limitless. To be limitless is to exist within. Yet to be within you cannot be destroyed. To be without desire is to be utterly without desire. The sage is free from desire and is empty. The wise man is free of desire and is filled. The wise is always content and boundless. The wise man becomes known through the Teacher and then he returns to his ability to master the group.
<|endoftext|>
The Tao is constant and self-evident, it has no mutation; for it is the wellspring of everything. It manifests itself as the light of the dawn, eternally present and without changes.Yet it manifests itself like a nebulousness: eternally present and without change.Eternally present, it is not imperishable, for it is subject to no change. In other words, there is nothing permanent within it.To be eternally present is to be universal. To be universal is to be absolute. To be absolute is to be prior to everything. Therefore, to be eternally present is to be absolute.
<|endoftext|>
The Tao Way is constant and great. If you take it, you'll never go wrong. It exists in your soul and will never go away. Its strength is without force and you can never use it. It's dark as the dawn and cannot be seen, it's nameless and is always at the center. You can never be someone's slave, that is the way the Tao always is. You can be someone's vessel forever. And you will never be destroyed. What is un-carried is never abandoned. If you never

Natural words are not so good as them. Terrible, they are not so good as them. Good words are not so good as them. There are good and bad words. Whoever knows when he is good and what he does is a good person. Whoever knows when he is bad and what he does is not a good person. There is no one better or worse than what is. Whoever knows the end of the universe is not justly praised. And whoever knows the end of the universe deserves to be praised. The true Sage is perfect in being, is complete in being, and has no more need for praise. He does not seek praise for this reason. The Sage does not presume to be superior to anyone. Therefore, the real Sage does not seek glory for himself, and therefore he does not deserve it.
<|endoftext|>
The highest goodness is one which is sincere; the vilest goodness is one which is not sincere. The most good bequests us no thank-you, and the vilest good bequests us no praise. In the mind there is no superiority, no precedence; the sage seeks nothing beyond and nowhere, there is no craving for time and space. The way of the world is blunt-edged and unrelenting; it is like the way of man when one lays hold of nothing and dwells in no territory. Because there is no superiority, there is no anxiety for glory and distinction, and no desire to claim for oneself any honour.

The best of humanity is sincere, the worst of humanity

Tao is mysterious, rare, beautiful,
and yet cannot be told.
It is entirely intangible and yet
refers to as the source of all.
Crazy?
Do you have such desires?
Cautious?
How can I know so much?
That's just my own heart's way.
If I don't know what I want, I'm powerless.
If I don't want what I want,

That's the essence of Tao,

It is the Father of Heaven and Earth.
Nameless and eternal, it is the fountainhead of all
articulate and tangible.
Cautious and receptive, it is the fountainhead of
effortless desire.
Embodying tranquility, it is the threshold of
the Great Dao. The sages follow tranquility and
do not leave the gate. This is the Way of heaven,

He dares not lead others, nor rely on his

What he does, he does not discard.

The Way is beautiful, mysterious, remote, and unknowable. It is the Great Mirror which holds all things, the source of all things, and the ultimate master of all beings. Unmoved by earthly life, it embodies calmness. With indifferent views, it allows insight into its limits, and with eagerness for all things, its subtle curves are drawn from within, revealing the multitude of things, yet desiring nothing in return. This is the hidden essence of the Way. Those who maintain it but do not set about attaining it are forced to remain without the Way. They know that without seeking, there can be nothing. Without seeking, everything is contained within their reach. Possessing the Way, they cherish it and the unseen desires can never leave.

Let there be an honest perception of each other: clear and pure is the one who can experience beauty; pure, still is the one who can see its goodness. It is only the one who sees his essence, yet his essence cannot be seen, that is the One that can do so. Seeing is not beautifying; Being is not beautiful. Goodness is not good-looking. To see is to see the beginning of all else. When heaven and earth are close you cannot be seen; when all the people are close you cannot be seen; when all in the kingdom are close you cannot be seen. The ancient way is to hold fast to the One-Ended, but preserve flexibility to the One-Non-Ended; be satisfied with the wealth of the one and reject the poverty of the other. If it is God and the ruler who are close to each other, then they always are; if it is the Sage and the ruling yet he does not hold on to the One-Self, then he is rich and also the ruler. The master does not rule arbitrarily. If he holds to the One-Ended, then he will never be excluded.

Because these two
Should not be confused
Since then it's only by concentrating on what is
That our thoughts arise
Not to give up the task,
That we have work to do
To simplify things:
You're precious, so keep it
Here's your gifts:
Here's your fruits.

If you cherish it, you will remain unrefined. When you have cherished it, you see it clearly. When you are enlightened, you fear no danger. When you experience passion, you find yourself at peace. Those who pursue justice of human kind live in accordance with natural law. Those who seek victory, all are separated from this world. Those who promote their own desires, win the man. Those who boast of their value, are listened to. Those who are centered in their mission, develop the Way. Those who overcome others, dominate them. This is called the circle of happiness.
<|endoftext|>
Those who are content to accept the oneness of the Being, they are nourished in the oneness. Therefore, by choosing the oneness of the oneness, they are enlightened. By choosing unity, they find themselves able to be peaceful and free. In choosing freedom, they find themselves able to be impartial. In choosing impartiality, they find themselves able to be impartial. In choosing impartiality, they find themselves able to be they find themselves able to be truly impartial. In choosing unity, they find themselves able to be given free will. Through their choice, they are not restrained by personal gain. Thus, they can win the nation by its benefit. Because they are able to win the nation, they can start expansion in this world. Because they are able to start expansion in this world, they can flourish in every corner of the world. This is called the oneness of the oneness.

Without truth, So bland is the sound; Without wisdom, So fruitless is the fruit. Since each in turn is empty of content, As the cosmic void is empty of its own, When only everything can fit There is not yet room for a host; That that is why he who benefits others, Is content to do it, And he who glorifies men, Is content to be glorified. For the one does not seek honour; The other not seek fame; The one does not drive his carriages; The other does not take to claiming credit. For he who abides by nature Is safely nourished; He who merges with Tao Is safely preserved; He who acts according to heaven's guidance, Accords a safe harbor.

Without True Virtue and True Virtue is not Truth. With Truth Virtue and Virtue is not Virtue. Without Virtue Virtue and virtue does not exist. Therefore without Virtue they have no Virtues.Having no Virtues, without Virtue Virtue and Virtue has no Virtue.Being without Virtue, no Virtue, not having Virtue. Thus they are in eternal Confusion. It is Virtue that benefits, Not to others, Being useful to others, Being beneficient for others, Being beneficient for others. This is the Principle. For this reason, the Sage Presides over;it is the Principle that controls. For without the Principle and the Sage there would be no way of knowing anything.

One who has a virtueful heart is without the heart
One who has an empty head is without the mind
One who has too much good spirit is a creature
One who has no good spirit is like a dead body
One who is satisfied is happy
One who enjoys much and takes nothing
In the world the sage is held to be worthy
He is honoured by the world
A man of the world's nature is a burden
The life of the world's nature is a good fortune
The life of the sage is a blessing

The wise man acts as a female. He acts not out of malevolence, but because he knows that everyone around him will respect him. When he acts and speaks, he does so in a manner that comes across as sincere. When he receives gifts, he does not demand a return. He responds to that which is already in his natural state. He is responsive and loving, though rarely responding with joy. When his true nature is witnessed, it is likely that people will be amazed and perplexed. Even though he acts according to his principles, he is in no way moral. If his principles are not respected, he will not be able to act properly. That is why the wise man acts without ulterior motives, yet he does nothing to justify himself. The wise man acts as an example to all people, yet he does nothing that distinguishes himself from the rest. Scrum leaders' sharpest arguments have no merit,
Leaders make no effort to look impressive,

The rule of heaven is not to distinguish good from bad.
The rule of the sage is to distinguish good from bad.

True heaven is devoid of good.
True humanity is devoid of humanity.

Those names alone, those being all, are the hearts of the virtuous, and the hearts of the indifferent.

The rich do everything but he does not flaunt them. The formal does everything but he does not force it. The gregarious is everything, but he has no style. The people seem to be cut up, but he has all he needs. All of this is Tao, and is without effort, but the wise lead and forget his worldly things. The people seem as if cut up.

The great ruler, though he presides but not wields the dominating principle, the average gentleman seems unconcerned, at times even dutiful, the dour have quick temper and delight in showy actions, the gentleman of the world appear dull and reticent. This is because he is forced to rely on what he needs. One who has a broad knowledge, perhaps the climate is rough. The gentleman indeed need no lordship. One who sees all of his resources, even though his house contains plenty of land, will be in no danger of running out of food or water. For who dares show himself in others? A man of substance may gain much by being agitator of the world, but such a man is a fool, a fool because of the lord to him. He may gain by acting in accord with the world and he will lack life experience. Thus, a man of substance will choose a different path, not through leaving the current, but through aware that he is following the current.

For in its doctrine, the Way desires to abandon That which warms its heart. Thence it grows: Never fret at profits; Never venture to take what is to be; Never show mercy; Never fight where the enemy is; Never fly where the enemy is; Never follow where no enemy is. For this reason it seeks only by the Way: To nourish the weak and to get at the best; to beautify the body and to polish the eye; to satisfy the whole course; to preserve harmony and to fulfil orders. The government and arms of the King are contrary to the Way. For these reasons the people cry out against them. Therefore I say, In the Way are found concealed the illusive qualities that appear in this valley, Which can be used by one that is weak, or the common man, Or that desires to abide but cannot, Or that seeks the greatest, and has no wish to leave home.

In order to avoid excess, take care of what you have.
And in order to avoid diminishment, keep to what you have.
If you find it hard to take or handle, it will be easier for you to hold and keep.
If you find it hard to exert and force others to conform,
it will be easier for you to maintain these states of mind.
If you find it difficult to enjoy, control or rejoice,
it will be easier for you to control your feelings.
Therefore the noble Sage does not seek to rule others.
Nor, from the outset, does he build or issue commands.
In this way he stays close to himself, and does not attach himself to any result.
Neither does he seek to follow the developments of the world.
Because of this, he considers all things outside the realm,
And treats them with respect.

If you are a selfish creature, avoid taking things as possession.
If you have a poor mind, only be selfish.
If you have no good will, only have bad will.
If you are in the position of the sovereign, only have leadership.
If you feel like chasing after the world, just do nothing.
Therefore, the noble is kindhearted to those that are not like themselves.
Those that are not even like the noble have no sense of pity.

When kings build too many palaces,
They will invite their neighbours to join them in the feast.
Without this well-established provision,
It would be better for everyone to go their own way
Wherever there is abundant water,
Wherever there is clean earth,
The mind can focus on one's own heart,
Wherever there is a well-founded environment,
A sound voice can be heard.
But look and never move;
If you want to go somewhere else,
Go ahead and master it.

I alone am Great; My Empire is great; There are not that many Wayservants in the world, That are spread all over.
As for Heaven and Earth, I too do not respect their orbits.
And so I am content to dwell among Nature, Among Its innumerable creatures.

When rulers find room for too many palaces, they resort to responding to the others. Rather than change the course of this great country, they return to the gradual path.
When the sky is not pure and the earth is not tranquil, natural beings will be at their ease.
The healthier the ruler is, the easier he/she becomes.
<|endoftext|>
When rulers limit themselves to the empty path of life, they lose sight of their Infinity.
When Nature is without a bound and nourishment is inadequate, The world is threatened with great calamity.
Therefore, the master dwells in her essentials, Is virtuous with life and makes virtue, Is pure in beauty and makes her virtue; Is pure in knowledge and makes true knowledge; Is pure in knowledge, making true knowledge; Is pure in the essence of the world and makes her essence.

To make the case for going the path that the rulers have already taken, we can do so without going beyond the mandate of the Path that they have taken:
The Higher The Tao
An infinite, unlimited way
A great Tao of deep subtleties
Opinion matters not
Doing what's right
The ruling does
Free of
Meeting and speech
The people are peaceful
The earth doesn't fall
The sage is at peace
The sky isn't filled
Everyone speaks in the face of conflict

It's not enough to be powerful to become famous: There has to be power to make famous. And it is in doing this that power stops. Without fame, what is known is already known.
The unheralded may be famous, but
who is known shall never perish.
To make known is the fulfillment of the Will;
not to be known is the fulfillment of the instinct.
The will that defines the world is equal to its passions and excesses
Yet it refuses to use its strength to drive the world into conflict.
To the world's excitement:
The events of The Book of Heaven are still unfolding.
The "Love of The World" stands alone:
Its gifts and desires are not threatened
The Unshaped Pot contains the mystery of Tao.
Beautiful objects are not sought,
Most beautiful objects are hidden
Renownable and treasured, but not to be won.
The infinite universe is in its unfolding;
Watching is a potential danger.

What is worthy is sought; what is not worthy is taken.
The Ruler in chief knows that he cannot last long.
He can be as first to tell the world:
No, even if you are the great, you must be humble,
For to be great is to be alone.
If you are great, you must rule lightly,
So your power is inadequate:
You must guard your possessions for the world.
The mighty arms are there for the world's sake.
But they cannot go,
Nor can they get,
So you must manage them yourself:
There's no battlefield.
And the gods look at you as you stand at the doors of the world.
They say: "Is there nothing at all that could shake this place?"

Tao always allows the way. It allows only way and does not stop.
To know how to take action, is only when one has Tao. To be partial, not knowing how to control oneself, is only when one has Tao. The one who owns something cannot know how to hold on to it; the one who can can give, cannot rule; and the one who lays claim to something, cannot control it.
The things, the people, all move, all are moved, to know the difference between things and people is the beginning of knowledge.

As for those who have resources, but prefer not to use them:
They have a mind to use them.
They cannot be used;
Therefore they are not to be compared with
preparedness.
For there are plenty of things that one can use;
But never to take possession of them.
For one can keep things secure by returning
to nature,
But one cannot
accomplish things by force.
One is not without values and virtue;
One never strays from them.
For this reason, one can be satisfied with one's
worth,
But one cannot dwell on one's root.
For one is content with the multitude of things
But one cannot live on just one.
Not seeking to be among people, one should not
possess their mere way.
Therefore, be one with the myriad things,
Be one with the simple dwelling,
And one with the simple living.
Be one with the nameless,

They are left empty.
Their absence seems to be permanent.
Only when the ruler sends in order to be kingly
Or
When military force is raised against the country
Is there left where there is no lord!
Do you not see how this is:
A divided nation is once again close to peace
But this time it is the state that does not have a ruler
Or the ruler who has no country
Or a country that has no ruler
Is no nation and therefore no country
So:
One cannot become lord over the people
If one does not have the Ten Thousand Things
(Commonwealth)
One cannot become lord over the army
If one does not have the ten thousand things
So:
You cannot live with virtue
If you do not have the ten-thousand things
So:
You cannot succeed in your affairs
If you do not have ten-thousand things
These are things to be master over
But for this you must know the unity of the ten-thousand things
Therefore, even though you may enjoy prosperity,
You must also know the unity of the ten-thousand things
Therefore,

Fine words are not beautiful; The good words are not true. The stupid people who argue don't differ from one another. So people in the world follow the Way;They are intelligent and beautiful, yet do not think too much about themselves; They are good at their job, yet do not expect much from themselves; They are quite good at saving people, yet do not demand the results. Thus the 10 rules of the Tao are laid out in verse and are not beautiful or funny. The Wise Person is like someone who uses written words,Not fashionable. The Book of the Tao is like someone who uses spoken words,Not fashionable. If you are not clever enough, not good at making choices, you will be defeated. The great knowledge has no good words,So the great person has no difficult things to do.The great teacher uses himself in a respectful way to anyone,Always but not necessarily just,And teaches all to have the ability to have a place in the world,Because he believes that it's better for everyone if he helps other people than himself.
<|endoftext|>
Words are not beauties, But the Complete PersonIs indeed beautiful. For that reason, Those that argue are no match for Complete People. Not those who justify themselves, Those who brag, And those who take credit. The sage Is the man of action, not the man of word. The Complete Man lives from selfless love, But not selfish desire. The Complete Man's heart is pure, But his mind is self-centered. This is why He is truly a Master Teacher, For to teach is more effective than to take action. The glorious Masters Make the people love to watch them In order to set an example for the world. They do so by being generous, By serving as guides, But none can compete with their ability to make people.
<|endoftext|>
The most full of words is not beautiful,The best at reciting a word is not a true one,The stupid of the world will argue about someone without being right,A good man does good to another man without demand,A good person does good because it is done,And so the one who can not live without doing soIs not fit to lead a government at all. The Sage is like one who is retiring, but is active, He can find no other expression in writing than "ay yao in er yen," "I don't want to go anywhere near anything

In the great circle the ten-thousand races take a collective breath; For the master they all remain humble and empty. In the little, there is stillness; While the wise are good at judging the affairs of men;It is by this that the laws of mankind are founded. Thus, the teacher may fight for his students; But in the end he does not rely on force to win; That is, he not uses force to fill his own goal.A great man works for himself,And can be entrusted by others.A small man works for the group; And tries to be entrusted by others. The sage works for all,Yet is not like one who trusts his teacher. He works for his own result,And when he has it, he gives it to the world.
<|endoftext|>
When all things (under Heaven) contend for mastery in the Great Way, the tiniest creatures must.Truly the most profound Masters (of Heaven) never show favor to the inferior ones; But instead favor the higher ones and the humble ones.Who is inferior to one who favors the highest and the lowliest is not worthy of the highest honor,And who deserves the highest honor must, by himself, accomplish the greatest service. Therefore the great man takes his place as one who serves all under heaven. But for a humble person the position is precisely the same, And that person is employed and saved by others. For the superior man, as for the inferior one, he does not show himself to be so superior. He is like a teacher whose conduct is calculated to benefit all.He does not seek his own advantage; He only bestows what his work needs on others.
<|endoftext|>
All things in Heaven strive to grow and flourish; The average person in the Universe follows the path of gentleness and humility. In the world of man there is rivalry between the a few:There is rivalry between men who are too arrogant to be excluded. What is the inferior is not the superior:What is the low is not the high:What is the high is not the low.Which is the inferior is not what is high;Which is the low is not what is high; The high is not what is low. Thus a Sage follows a way which is not to the contrary,And serves all men under Heaven with gentleness. The Dao will not profit him.The Dao will not reduce him.He abides

Wealth, fame and profit are what define life. A bad person does not receive them. A good person should receive them. A bad person is afraid to see that he will be hurt by them. A good person is always ready to accept them. A bad person comes here because he can. A good person works in harmony with all, and accepts everything with care. A bad person comes to destroy and destroy. Just because one does not need or want to win will insure that you are not likely to make someone you have hurt. If a good person acts with compassion he is trusted by others too. A bad person acts with hostility and cannot be trusted. In his oneness with all, the Dao is like a constant yet benevolent wind that flows through every corner.
<|endoftext|>
Good words do not rejoice; evil ones are not honored. Men of good will are often ignorant of their own skill; men of ill will, have learned more than they can ever trust, and so are always seeking to intimidate. Therefore a wise man is always present, though he appears not to be. A man of high learning, although he is wise, is ignorant, and so he is always returning. A man of low intelligence, though he knows, is not, and so he keeps to this. If there were no knowledge, the wise man would know himself; if the sage did not know himself, he would know others; if low intelligence, he would seem unworthy of trust, or he would be unworthy of his place in the world. The things that are good are those which don't compel: the knowledge of that which is not compelled is the treasure to which all other things should return. But if the mind be free from knowledge, there is ignorance. The Master, if she chooses, does not press; though she seems not to know her position, and the Master must feel that she is not ignorant. The Master's work is good for little and in no way productive; the work of the Master is not another thing's; it is the light of the world; it is the flower of Dao; it is a channel for all that comes, and it is the means of furthering Dao.

Numerals are inadequate.A master is not clever.A fool is not clever. The wise person does not argue. The wise person does not argue. The average person will not argue. Therefore, people of the intelligent type are indifferent to others. What is indifferent is considered foolish. The intelligent people are intelligent. The intelligent people are capable. The average person is average. The average person is average. The average person is average. The wise person can not be stubborn. The wise person is tolerant. Therefore, all things have life and are directed. The lord has no right to fear.

Lao Tze says,Words are not good (tao) and so are not the teachers (ch'i) of people. The ch'i does not try to teach and is therefore not stupid.A person is not one who thinks he is, therefore he does not know the difference between right and wrong.A good man never seeks the reward (desire) for what he has done.Such people are unreal and despicable.A person who seeks what is meant for him will not meet it with faith.Such a person does not work for the success of the state, which cannot be helped. When a good man becomes ill, it is by not going around making people lose faith in him.

To say 'Good' (tzung) - isn't good at all (tzung-hwan).The sage cannot even make a good person (ch'ien). The sage does not regard it as good. The wise man cannot even justify his rightness (kuan-hsing).Therefore the sage is indifferent to those things that are indifferent, thus they are not any good (ch'ien). The truly good do not presume to presume. What is self-important (hsing) has no aim. What is determined has no point. What is a way to another has no direction. What is formless (chih) does not exist. The truly formless is without substance. What has many kinds (boh) has many forms (chiao). The truly many have no subject. Thus a wu-wei (flower) that has nary an flower is inconceivable. What is in a state of dissolution is dissolved (yin). What is without a beginning is without beginning (shu-wen).Therefore the Complete Way can't be strayed (k'ang

It is better to not speak loudly than to be vain,Though a cause of great trouble and suffering.Speaking well is not to be feared.Failing is not a cause of grief.Failing to be loved, is not to be cursed.Loving not, is not to be rejected.Who knows the past can observe the future. When heaven and earth work together,Not action is required. When the sage (leader of a nation) acts, he or she does not compare himself with others,Not comparing himself with the people. When the sage makes life his own, he does not interfere with others,He does not interfere with others in their actions. But if heaven and earth do not rely on their own action,They cannot compete.
<|endoftext|>
Loudness seems to be the greater virtue than vice;Vanity and folly are the cause of misery,Racism and patrivation,For these cause fear and grief. In the former case, caution may be advocated; In the latter, it must be led.The sage exercises caution,For he is not known to others,And so he is free from harm. The more that he knows about himself,The less he knows about others. Therefore he knows all things,And so he does not obstruct,Is not a wimp,He is among the people.

What is beautiful and elegant is not virtuous; what is beautiful and elegant is not good; what is good and elegant is not virtuous. The good and the virtuous must disagree. The bad and the virtuous must agree.A virtuous mind does not search for the good,But a dishonest mind will search for the evil. One who keeps this in his mind is not in want,One who has the will to fulfill his will will not waste anything,And one who has trust in his own ability will not be easily defeated. Therefore,The old folk say, "The beautiful does not desire the beautiful; the useful is not the useful." The useful is not the useful to the useful."The virtuous mind does not seek the image,But the ugly minds seeks the shadow. One who is as useful as he is,If he trusts in his own ability,Will not be overcome. The old man said: "In order to keep to the present, one must not cut the corners; in order to keep to the present, one must not make distinctions."

That which looks beautiful does not hold truth;
That which is beautiful does not produce truth;
That which is beautiful does not lead to truth;
Those who lead cannot be trusted.
He who is following, is not in accord with God's will.
He who has lost trust, will not be able to help.
All men, possessing the above qualities, stand in direct opposition to each other.
To attract them is for this reason futile.
One who does not compete will have no need to compete.
Those who have all the attributes of the Tao
Are bound to the Way, to nurture, and to yield.
Those who are clever and great-hearted
Are bound to receive glory.
Those who are good at teaching are bound to be the instructor.
Those who are able to do great deeds will be remembered.
Those who are virtuous and magnanimous will be universally praised.
Those who are grand, devoted and powerful will be acclaimed.
These four extremes, therefore, are the life-blood of Tao.
To act or not to act, this is what is of essential importance.
So it is that when an individual acts in accordance with Tao,
There is mutual charity between them.
When they are excluded from the Tao,
Confusion and conflict reign.
A single person, in no wise contesting the supremacy of the Tao,
Arises in acceptance of the ordinary human life.
A large number of people harmoniously act, but when it cannot be done, quarrels arise.
When it cannot be done, much gratitude is felt.
When it cannot be done, many great deeds are accomplished.
And in Heaven's course.
The loftiness of spirit of men is restrained by the gravity of the earth.
The fruit of the mind of man is fulfilled by the Earth.
Yet in Heaven's course there are but one attitude and that is approval.
To possess the one, one is an end in itself, to possess the other, you may become his useful servant.
There is a grand reason and that is how he succeeds.
That is why such deeds are seldom.
The substance of man is as thin as the shell of a fish.
The breath of man can be the breath of Heaven.
Just be original, be guided by the Way and you will never waste your time.

The superior Way becomes manifest through the inactive flow of its creatures. This Way is self-existing and self-sufficient. Those who wish to gain of it find it unattainable; those who wish to preserve it find it null. Those who wish to hinder it find it could not do them harm. Being self-existing and self-sufficient, it abides forever. The superior man is ever active and discerning of potentials, but never at the limit of his activity. The inferior man is always passive and discerning of potentials, but never at the limit of his activity. It is through the latter that one is always at the limit of his activity. Being at the limit of its activity, it is always replenished by the former. The highest virtue involves less action. The principle of Tao takes the active part, but does not act, and has no desire to take action. The principle of Tao is ever passive and discerning of potentialities, but never at the limit of its activity. The great Tao makes people: The Master of natural actions, gives them things, gives them what they need, then returns; and the novice helps the Master.

If it becomes deficient, it can be improved. If there are defects, improvement is also possible. The superior man is always active and discerning of potentials. He is at the limit of his ability. The follower of the superior Way may be beneficial to others, but he does not justify his acts with praise or appeal to followers of the former way. The follower of the former way may be beneficial to himself. Therefore, when this mutual difference is no longer important, it may be settled by mutual perception of difference. How to approach men with 'kindness' - are not worth desiring. And this is enough. In this way,The natural way of dealing with affairs is not subject to argument.

It is a universally-disadvantaged attribute to treat all the things as potential prizes,
When the average person sees only the evidence of such treatment,
he turns a blind eye, and becomes only the instrument of others.
The other party sees only as a makeshift,
the ugliest half of humanity.
When those who are impartial have no motive to prove themselves,
They are plainly biased.
When those who are middling in character are just as adept as others,
It seems that they have no intention of taking any action.
When those who are determined to act can't keep their promise,
they roll up their sleeves and follow orders.
<|endoftext|>
The best, average, or mediocre students say
It's natural to look for an opponent
It's just how people act.
What if those who show things off are merely instruments of the world?
What if those who fight for power
Are just following orders?
Whatever people do for their own benefit they should say
By who are we benefiting?
Do we not deserve benefits?
Do we not know enough to know what's right?
Act according to what we know, the Way doesn't insist.
<|endoftext|>
To treat the prince and the whole world as prizes is disgraceful.
To think like one's opponent is unhealthy.
To act as if you are victorious, showing no respect, is also disgraceful.
If you keep you will of fighting, people of the world will not be happy.
Those who are stubborn and stubborn themselves will get nowhere.
Forget about loyalty, I will never have loyalty.
If we do not know who is right, I will always be right.

Pleasant words are not good taste. Pleasant words are not sincere. Whoever is in touch with the Tao can do nothing but get on well with the Tao. Who is possessed of wealth knows not where it comes from; who knows where it comes from, does not know himself. The sage is impartial; he loves all; he does not discriminate. The more he does, the more he has; the more he gives, the more he receives.
<|endoftext|>
Sincerity is not good taste. Non-simplicity is not true sincerity. Whoever is in touch with the Dao can only get a superficial understanding. Whoever possesses wealth cannot get a full grasp. Whoever knows, does not know. The sage does nothing without a cause. He greatly creates but does not demand much. He greatly gives but does not take advantage. Therefore the Dao of the universe helps a lesser man. That is why he forgets to be great.
<|endoftext|>
Plain speaking is not pleasant and sincere.<|endoftext>
The polite speaker is not wise. Those in possession of wealth refuse to use their wealth for the benefit of others. Those without self-knowledge refuse to give of themselves. The sage is virtuous and yet he does not show himself. He does not show his wealth. He does not receive of others. The more he does, the less he can do.Therefore the sages teach dispassionately, they do not show their own kindness.Do you have enough? Give to others.Give to others to benefit others.Don't get by!The more, the better.By applying oneself to the lesser people, you become more perfect.By using the more, you become more selfless.Do not pretend to be righteous.Only your subtle essence can be fulfilled. The Sage is in all that he does.He doesn't try to impress his own greatness on others. The sage stays detached. He does not display his worthiness. He does not display his superiority.

Let us pause and contemplate the way of teaching good acts.To teach good acts not to possess the Will.To teach the Way of Un-assertiveness we must not speak too loudly or boastfully. To teach good discourse or talk,We must not assert anything on behalf of our speakers. We must not compete or argue over everything.By being strong we create a foundation for others to build upon.By being real we create a foundation for all things to come into being. In the Tao-World there is a land of peace and goodness.Through the Way of Tao there is harmony and goodness.Heaven gives and takes away. Thus he who acts in accord with the Tao is one of the followers of Tao.He who acts without feeling bound by Tao is another who has no relation to Tao.He who follows only the Way of the Way brings about no response from the Way.The Tao itself is a spacious valley and a mountain river. To dwell there is to settle, peace is to abide. For for ever there is this valley which is hollow and empty and more spacious than the sky.So long as nothing is there to receive it, it can never be empty.

When righteousness is regarded as a lesson for those who are virtuous, all of humanity should be absolved from the duty of compassion.

These truths are found in the whole of the universe, and they can be followed without the need to strain your bones. Indeed, if you are able to demonstrate to others that you are able to follow these truths, you will be able to be entrusted with the leadership of your group of brothers.

The application of the old and the giving the new are both matters which cannot be easily fulfilled. The long-lasting attainment of the moral purity and the accomplishments of loyalty and piety are essential to one's existence and well-being.Although what is beneficial to the person has been greatly improved, sincerity, propriety, and benevolence have not been abandoned.Though one finds himself thoroughly satisfied with the achievement of his social commitments, no extravagant display of wealth or clothing would disturb his equilibrium. One of the following considerations should be considered:One should not act (in the production of Tao) with the ulterior motive of benefiting the world. One should not be highly hypocritical (in his action of the creative power of Tao), and one should act for the benefit of the world. Those who are possessed of (the true character of) the virtue of Dao are so impartial and so impartial that they do not seek to gain by merit. Those who are possessed of (the true character of) the virtue of Dao are so ingenious, so clever, so ruthless, so uncouth, so inconspicuous, so obscure, so innocent, so direct, so insistent, so blunt, so inactive, so sparing, so benighted. The constant Way invariably brings its destination. Things stand still, as if puzzled. Therefore the Sage governs them by increasing their silence. When I promote the principle, I have not made it my very essence; I prefer the alternative: Some new thing (labouring) may not be good. Others (labour), though not a useless thing, may have been (presented as) harmful; others (labour), though not a useful thing, may have been (presented as) dangerous; but others (labour), though not a useful thing, may have been (presented as) unworthy. That is to say: he (the Sage) does not consider them unworthy. He treats them with sincerity. What is said has nothing to do with the principle, but is merely used to keep alive my loyalty to the (tao of) heaven.

Therefore, the sage takes care to not show off,
does not flaunt or insist.
He is aware of his functions, and at rest,
Does not talk and praise himself.
He stays calm and contented,
even though he is losing his mind.
A profound teacher makes a deep understanding,
but does not act the parts
So they become even deeper than they began.
The Way of Heaven would become detached from everything,
But the Way of the sage would remain in the center.
