Born of dirt The living are born to be soft. When a body dies They are born to be stiff and disrespectful. Born of violence The good dies with a smile. But decay is like death. No softness and no respect The strong and wise will not be moved. No strength and no decay If you put a big house In the way, and your straw tower Will blow over. If you fill a room with straw You'll crumble. If you exalt oneself You'll end up as a fool. If you build a big home And say you need the straw It won't last. You're in the way If you're clever And clever don't last. If you're strong And strong don't end well. If you're great And great don't last.

From infancy on, All things become alive, And the gentle one is born. After the death of that of a person, He is born with a sense of shame and vexation. Therefore, Those who are bright, then become white, Those who are strong, then become strong, Those who are alive, then become alive, But those who are soft, then become tender, Those who are effective, then become effective. The strong one then becomes strong, The strong one that has done so will be withdrawn, But the hard one will break. Hence the straw-laying house will end. The strong in action will need strength. The bright in action will need action. Those who have achieved greatness will have to show humility. Those who are clever in action will have to show intelligence. Those who have achieved perfection will have to show timeliness. Those who are great will have to show grandeur.

Those who hold the Tao do not try to change it,
They hold it like a block, but
If you try to set it on fire, it will not catch
But when it stops the rust,
It will begin to grow.
If you do not care for children,
When a disaster strikes you
You will not be in grief.
Do not force your work on others,
You will not be trusted.
Do not make your work extravagant,
You will not be rich.
All this is against Tao
And that is why it is destroyed.

The sage of old was never reformative and firm;
he always had the single, unfailing, without change,
Dignified body.
He had no desire for others.
He did not instigate.
No action was out of the ordinary,
He was not ostentatious;
He did not insult.
He had no need for promises.
No political ambitions existed;
He could not rule by force;
He had no true essence, he did not have evil within;
His actions did not spoil.
For people of the world, now, his actions are becoming ephemeral;
his deeds are becoming soft.
Those who are just be dull and weak.
Those who are stiff and are not smooth will break down;
Those who are not alive and who have no essence,
Will soon break down.
Those who are simple, dark and black,
Have lost their essence.
Thus, it is better to have one's essence:
or if that is not enough, then to dwell with what is
A more general rejection and discard,
To abandon one's root, to shun the path
And be reborn, rather than the other way.

The original human being
Did not mold people;
It was just a regular old block that could be used as a block.
When it had no desires or desires for people,
It would cease to be a block.
When it had no desires for people,
It would begin to grow.
When it had no desires for people,
It would be weary.
Therefore,
When it became weary of people,
It would be weak.

It is not natural that life should be long.
It is not natural that those who live should die young.
If all things alive in the universe are subject to me,
I alone should become the base of their being.
To be in the world of thorns and sharpness
Is to have been born in the world of inestimables.
To be in the world of greaves and rushes
Is to have been born in the world of solidity.
If all beings were born into the world of voidness and emptiness
Their well-being would be immeasurable.
By strengthening up one's own living force
A vast army will not triumph.
A big tree will not be swayed
By its thorns and sharpness.
Hence they call themselves soft and yielding and hard and firm.
They do not rule the world,
But are restrained and cut up for destruction.
They are older and more glorious than the mightiest of all things.
The army of man that rules the world
Will not accomplish its work.
An old tree will snap in the wind.
While the earth may defy him,
To it will come the shock of disaster.

How good they look! They stand in the middle. Wherefore the Sage calls himself high-hearted; Wherefore he becomes tolerant; Wherefore he becomes low-hearted; Wherefore he becomes perfect; Wherefore he becomes uncarved-wood; Wherefore he becomes uncarved-text. That is why they say that he is uncarved-wood; If they cannot finish, they will break and will perish. Though they are hard and cold, They are in them still as soft and tender. It is because they are uncarved-wood That the wise man devotes himself to them. A great army cannot succeed If it cannot keep uncarved-wood. A high tree cannot be stopped By its own trunk; Though the empire can not go from its root, Yet it will tremble in no end. When the people yield to the army, The emperor will not roar like a mighty river. Nor the empire endure; Though the army may contend, It will not topple.

There is the case where people arise in full strength in infancy,Their bones firm, bones well,Will they all be still as though under water?Hence, they become rigid. It would seem that not to strengthen the bones is to break the spirit of men. Thus, strengthening the bones does not involve beating them down.Inevitably, an excess of sharpness means a dullness. We ought to curb our sharpness in order to prevent the reduction of our vital power,Wherever there is vacancy, we should let the vacancy grow.Inevitably, to be liberal would be to be firm,To be mild, to be yielding, to be yielding, would be to be yielding, to be soft, and to be still, would be to be elastic. So softness and life are the depths of the uncarved block.Solidness is the foundation of the uncarved block.Firmness is the dwelling place of uncarved blocks. Thus, the vigorous army will not achieve victory over the placid army. The sound of softness and life will give security to people, where there is no violence. Therefore, the uncarved block is the flower of the uncarved block.

"To show honour, it is best to be modest; to take care that honour shall not blow, is to get into a whole lot of trouble.
For all the world is going to need solid ground and be happy; some do not care whether they live or die. Therefore the sages say:
'Rational, he who would call himself a gentleman; tolerant, he who would be tolerant of others; just, he who would be just and humane; he who would be humane and just - he who would be just and just - all these are mean; and when the time is gone and ten thousand things are dying, he who is noble will be low and sparing.
So sages say that honorable men are low and sparing;
just men are just and simple; just and upright men are noble; honorable men are just and right.
While winning one's life, one must employ the whole of one's being; one must let go all beneath one's feet.
Thus a leader who may be strong, yet have an empty stomach will not be easily controlled by any power;
a leader who may be patient, yet have an empty stomach will not be easily controlled by any power; a leader who may be intellectual, yet have an empty stomach will not be easily controlled by any power.
The following are the ways of the universe:
Most things that become alive,
There is no provision
For them to live in peace,
In their right to die.
Therefore the sage says:
'Non-human, one is like a poor homeless person:
'Human, one is like an old human.
'Courageous, one is like a madman.'
'Just, one is like a worthless one.
'Eminent, one is like the root.'

Of the worldly

Some things are happy and live, some do not live. Therefore the sage says:
'He who can lose himself in the ideal -
He has no selfishness to lose.'
'He who can fear people -
He is safe in the love of all people.
'He who can be just -
No one is excluded from his care.

There is much mumbo-jumbo about knowing the DAO but there is nothing to prove it.
That which is known is "some" yet not self-evident.
Just because there is some, cannot prove it.
Thus, there is DAO:
Joy and pain are at the same time.
The DAO is feminine and as it passes, it dies.
It is a void within a void that takes in everything.
The Dao is feminine and so has no opposition.
Thus Dao and all things move on and die.
The Dao and things move on and die in quiet and placidity.
The Dao and things move on and die in force and violence.
The Dao and things and things move on and die in ways and in ways and in ways and in ways and in ways and in ways.
The Dao is at rest, yet giving and receiving and merging and dying at the same time.
That is Dao.

There are many terms for the origin of all that is. Yet there is nothing to prove it.
Thus: there is nothing to prove.
The ancients said: "Now, it is so, although it may not be so." Therefore, it is possible: "Its suddenness cannot be truly proven, until it continues on and on, everlasting."
So: I think it is the innermost reality of all.
Infinitely extending and endless, it is a primordial phase. It is like the broad empty space between the female and the male.
Like the waters of a deep river, it is clear and still.
It cannot be named. It cannot be named.
It has never ceased to be.

There are many ancient ways to communicate.
Yet no one can prove this.
The one that can be proven is none other than Tao.
Tao may be infinite, or it may be finite,
but Tao never has any pain or pleasure.
At the beginning of creation, emptiness and light were present.
That is how the world of things came to be.
Everything breathes, and soon loses its form.
Eventually, forms fade and bodies fade, but the essence of the universe remains.
Thus,

If you know the ability, learn not to focus on the mind.
If you know the hunger for power, know you will lose it.
If you know the hunger for liveliness, know you will die young.
The universe has plenty of soft and tender things when they are alive.
It is all at the end when they are dead.
As for the warrior,
if he is strong enough,

Then he will lose power.
If he is strong enough,

Even a person of great ability,

Even a hard and firm person will become soft and weak.
And even a strong person will be crushed.
Therefore, even the great strength will not be strong in the end.
The master will not break,

When the world grows weak,
The martial arts come into being.
The strong and the strong become weak and weak.
The soft and the weak become strong and strong.

When we are born, we are very weak,When we die, we are very strong. The first man, when living, was like a mud-heap dead. The first woman, when she was alive, was like a potting-curtain alive. Both (beneath their newborn bodies) were dead. The second, when dead, had the (kindness) of a worthless son.The second, when alive, had the (kindness of) a worthless husband. Both (were) poor, but not fit to be called men. Therefore, the army will be likely to decay,But the solid (men) will grow,And the worthy will be regarded as the losers,And the unworthy will be placed like stones and boughs. This is why a state (is) like one on the One Smallness,One Smallness is comparable to all other states on the One Smallness; The (Babe)becomes 'more' as it grows. We call this "Emptiness."Emptiness is a dangerous state. The king is no more dangerous than a king,Dead and destroyed.

We have All Things (swimming) when we're born. We have Everything (living) when we die.
The older a body is, the less alive it is.
The older an idea, the less powerful it is.
The older a house, the less there is for that home to be useful.
The older an idea, the less useful the person they are.
Thus, the best positioned (leader) is the oldest.
The best positioned (leader) is the strongest.
The strongest position is the first one in the world.
The oldest will be the first to die.

When the newborn was born, its core was soft. When its dead body was brought back to life, its core was strong. When the myriad things appeared in their birth and then went their own way, they were unformed. The new creation is a molding and a growth, the mature one is the foundation. Let each arise and then be set in motion. The beginning is the old and the older is the stronger. The wisdom of the great Master is that he stands on the world he dwells on the world that he dwells on himself. Be open, free of restriction, thus you live

When a nation disintegrates, Then the remnants are slaughtered, And soldiers then have nothing left to spare for themselves.
What is done for a nation should be done for itself.
This is why kings: When the people are powerless,
They become powerful. When the people are weak,
They become strong. When the people are despised,
They become powerful. When the people are conquered,
They become powerful.
Who will guard the empire at the time of strength?
Who can command the people?
The one who rules the nation means a person of craft.
A person of craft means that the country is peaceful.
That is, they are not the people's enemy.
When the country is ruled by people who are crafty,
The people lose their right to rule themselves.
What is meant by:
A victory or a defeat that is not unimportant Is something
That cannot be made big And that cannot be postponed.
Therefore, A wise leader
Rises early to wake up the people Before the host is strong in spirit And those who offer sacrifice the huts At the base of their heroes Who lose their minds before they leave For those who take the hosts whole
Treat the world as sacred At the point of war, And the time of great strength, Because people will gather in In order to welcome the victory.
Who follows the guidance of the way of ancient times Is like the example of the stream And the wave, which continues to flow.

The Sage's utensil is not an object of possession,
but is the true root and embodiment of Tao.
What is said of the Sage,
apparently so, yet he uses it in the true sense of the word.
The cleverness of the Sage,
To use a well-worked implement as a tool for working Tao,
This he does, and does it without conscious thought.
Linguistics says,
Sage's utensils are hollow.
Not so as they are.
The ingenious use of implements,
Is used for no purpose.
Being an instrument for no purpose,
The ingenious use of implements
is employed for a purpose.
The marvelous help to the sage is,
To use the implements,
To use the matter.
He uses it, in the same manner,
And lets go of it,
If the use is to no purpose.
And the he who uses it

Hence, the truly man should not attempt to act as a servant or a guest. This means he should cultivate self-knowledge.
Therefore the wise man:
Keeps to the old saying, 'Blows for Tao without using violence.'
Hence, without killing

He is without weakness
Is without loss

Heaven and Earth and humans are created. Heaven and Earth are nourished. To reach the state of non-killing, then we must understand that people and things have the capacity to grow and develop. When we destroy the body, the life force dies. When we destroy the body, the life force is destroyed. When we destroy the body, the life force is destroyed. When we destroy the life force, we lose the ability to know the difference. We are no longer in possession of the ability to know the difference. The possession of the ability to know the difference is an illusion.
Things that have had the ability to know the difference are controlled by the state of non-knowledge, and are governed by control by things.

Nature is great: It is beautiful, and it is therefore beautiful. Darkness is great: It is fine and it therefore is fine. These two are simply different, and different, yet the same. The dark is great: It is dark, and the light is dim. Both are dark: Both are dim: Both are dark: This is the difference. You see that to be great means to be dark. To be fine means to be fine. What is dark is great: The things that have no own nature are the same as the things that have no own nature: The things that have own nature are deep and all the things are different. If these things have no own nature, they are not dark: If they have own nature, they are not the same as the things with their own nature: These two are the same. If a being which is darkness must be bright, the darkness must be black. If the existence of these two is determined, then what is dark and

When men of old time saw their destiny, they always smiled on their own dignity. When things become, they have a certain permanence. The sage looks into the past and sees the future. He knows that all things produce what they appear to produce. This produces, it seems, to a certain extent. However, their existence consists not in their reproductive mechanism, but rather in their appearance, their shadows, and their character. Thus even the earth exists, but appears to have no boundaries; even the high is composed of water and earth, but each maintains its own, simple autonomy. So nature gives birth to nature, and a man is forced to use himself as it gives birth to him. The holy man holds fast to his own integrity, and so has the peace and stability of a person of substantial character, but he does not consider himself to be that person. This makes his behaviour that of a proper man.

Even if your soul cannot change its appearance,It is of the same nature when your body dies. When things wear and die, they preserve their shape. The simple and soft were always there, and there are still those of the rugged and unfashionable.Things turn sour as they age, and there is nothing for which they turn sour. For those that are responsible for this are the living spirit, and the spirit turns them into the dead.Things perish because they have life,But the spirit lives because it is a living thing. When we die, we change our bodies; When we change our bodies, we change our spirit. This is to return to the Tao, but the spirit has none to return to.That is to return to the cosmic flow.If you do not keep to the Tao, your spiritual powers will fade away. When a tree begins to turn,The wise man abandons it as soon as it begins to burst. When an ox perishes, the thieves steal away. When the heavens are torn apart, things fall into chaos. The supreme spirit is indefatigable. It not only turns things into what they are, but makes them what they are not. When its stillness is lost, everything returns to what it was. That is to abandon one's own integrity, and return to the way of the Tao.

Thus, be like a good person;

Be lifeless.
Thereby, they gain power;
Loudness and heaviness have come,
And death is close at hand.

It is thus that the virtuous are not born to make any point. They live long and are never done. They do not go around to brag. They are not overtly excited. They do not play the part of the dullard. They act out of nothing. They are a comfort to the world. They appear like shadows. They are worn out and cannot renew themselves. It is only when they are killed, will their status be valid. Thus, in the world of Dao, the foolish are not recognized by the unvirtuous, and no one denies them. Those who are unfashionable are not attractive, and do not attract the attention of those with merits. To be tarnished, dark and tarnished is humiliating. To be inactive is to end. An infant is soft, and yet firm; an old man is stiff and stiff; a living thing that can live is soft and easy; dead things die and are hard and hard. Soft and hard are one with each other; death is one with life. Therefore the commander who rules over his army conquers battles, and so does not destroy the bones and vital marrow, but using the brawn, bones and vital marrow unite.Hence, a well-prepared army can be made quick by not using a heavy stock, so the bones are utilized, and so the vital marrow is utilized. But the bones are not the vital marrow's vital marrow's main virtue, the vital marrow is the army's main virtue. So a general who knows how to use the vital marrow has more vigor than that who uses the bone marrow. This is why the great commander reveres bone marrow more than marrow. The Master, though having existed before, may have been born yet again. The Master, though having existed before, may also have died. Thus, the Sage is like an old tree that is nourished by the rain. As it is nourished, it grows tall and beautiful, as it is destroyed, its roots come to life, and its leaves turn into jade. If this old tree were not cut down, it would fall down. For if it were cut down, it would suffer. If the root is removed, it can be joined to the rest. If the rest is removed, it can be rejoined. Hence, it is of no use to attack and overthrow this world to achieve merit. Unless one aims at what is in the forefront, he is apt to topple. To attack and overthrow a world is against nature. To attack and overthrow the world, is against reason. Hence, the leader never brings success with him but resolutely carries on. He who is obstinate on the whole has no hope and no rest. He who nourishes his ten thousand things and grows them is one with the Infinite. He who grows a thorn will not again be tinder.

If one cuts but then follows, then there will be no further danger. If one cuts but then abandons, there will be no more danger.
If one cuts but then benefits, then there will be no further danger.
Therefore, the sage does not strive with men,

The great vessel is an empty vessel. What one uses it for is not what he himself stands on. If one stands on the world, he will have no awareness. If he is dead, he has no awareness. If he is not carved, he is as perfect as nothing. If he is not perfect, he is as alive as anything else. If he is not perfect, he is as flawless as everything else. If he is not flawless, he is as real as nothing. The essence of all things is formless, it is put in motion by emptiness. This is to live, not to live for the sake of the world. This is to go astray. When the base cannot protect itself, the high begins to be degraded. If a man's heart is not hard in losing the gentleHeavens first, then his vessel loses its strength. But if a thick and proud vessel is in need of strength, then the gentle man's heart will be softened. When the thinnest heaven is weakened, then the thinnest earth is weakened. That is the reason: He who strives to go in the left Way must contend with the weakened. He who strives to go in the right Way must contend with the stronger. He who struggles to go in the weak-and-weak places must contend with the hard- and-hard. He who strives to go in the void places must contend with all things. For the Way of heaven in heaven is active and weak. If it could be weak, then it would also be the weakest in heaven. For the Way of earth is to be firm and light, And to him who is weak in the earth, heaven would respond. For those who live in straw and rain- dregsThe way of the heaven in heaven would be a mixed seed. For those who live in thorns and thistlesThe way of the earth in heaven would yield. A man of sound mind, who is not at all bent, will govern; a man of brawn, who is not at all angry, will lose his temper. A man of intelligence, who is not at all highly-developed, will begin as a dull man, and then he will be enlightened. A man of the female sex, who is not at all feminine, will begin as a wild woman, and then she will be cleaved. A man of what is not yet grown, will begin at an early age, and then he will be wasted. Men of "power" are like being at a height; they will never allow the ground to loosen, They will not let earth decay, they will not let water fall down. This is what it means when a man of power responds to the gravity of the work; by not applying himself to the work, he will not falter in his efforts, and when the work is complete, he will never leave.

The fruit of the stem is the beginning of a tree; And the inner core is the root of what is true.
The better the man is, the stronger the root. But the harder the root, the easier is the higher place of the men. The victor is the root of his victory. Whoever is strong in the end, is a strong centre. The strong roots are low, and the weak are high. Those who strengthen themselves are weak and weak, they are strong as they become weak.
The root is the nourishment of the fruit. If you start from a deficient root, you can grow and develop. A good man's will to his roots is strong, but as a result the root is inadequate to him.
So, if he does not love the root, then his strength is greatly diminished. The first takes root but the second has no roots.
The master takes hold of the root but he is the foundation of the whole and the foundation of the empire. He knows his roots; he knows his strength. Thus he is strong enough to take any foe by force of arms, if necessary.

It is the strong that are the greatest; the soft and the weak it is the quiescent that are the greatest, and the dead and the tiring that are the greatest. Thus the tao which is vigorous and powerful is rejected, because it is in the least known. What is taking the position of having its forces, it loses. What is taking the position of being firm and immaculate, it is loosed, because it stands in accordance with what is in accordance with what is in accordance with what is taking the position of the constant.

The strongest force can withstand little opposition; It is the stillness of the soul that makes the stillness so effective.A tree in your path needs no rope;A world away needs no roof to survive.A tree stands tall but does not cling.A world away needs a rope to climb to.A tree stands tall but is not rigid.A world away needs a rope to climb to.A tree stands tall but fails to bind.A tree stands tall but loses strength in its roots.A tree stands tall but loses its stability.
<|endoftext|>
Without impetuosity, force is hard to overcome. Without consistency, clarity is indivisible. Plants flourish in a wide range of climate, but they must adapt by flowering. Stillness is necessary for their growth, but spring, growth, always demands motion. The sturdy hold their position by not straining, by not stiffening, by not becoming rigid. The thick hold their position by not becoming weak. The strong holds their position by not becoming weak. The excessive depends on their non-excess. The rigid depends on their non-excess. This is the lesson of all things. The thick supports the weak, the strong the feeble, and the mean ties the strong to the unsteady.
<|endoftext|>
Force is a tool. So, the strong prevail over the weak. The steadfast stand on their tiptoes.Unconstrained, motionless, the roots grow. The heavy supports the weak. The fastener holds the weak to a firm position. The unyielding holds the steady position. Therefore, forceful force is not sufficient to subjugateThe nameless and nameless is defeated by the nameless. The unyielding, firm, and unyielding stand alone. So, something that is strong withstands nothing else.Pl

A man of superior virtue shall be neither impure nor possessed. He shall have a natural magnetiality,The carnal mind, which knows no ends;he will stand firm, and remain firm, to endure as long as he can.He will act with wholesome action, and take the result, as long as the work of Nature is not finished. This is called "Life-Giving".One who is deprived of a natural magneticality, will certainly have no magnetiality at all.One who has no carnal mind, may at times be active and possessive, and at other times weak and inert. He will stand in the relation of a lowly man;and will need a leader of life. One who is capable of practicing the art of sweet savour, is ready to serve others as a loyal follower;and will be a good leader in their turn. Therefore, when a man of superior virtue acts, it is said of him: "His whole being will be offered to the sacrificial care of Nature, for a time of non-existence."For he will bring to the sacrificial care of Nature, an employment of his spirit, mind and will;and will look with a soft, pitying, humble, humble expression upon all.

A good man is free from desire; He is filled with gentleness; He lacks excess. He is weak, but not dejected. He struggles, but sustains himself. He is upright, but not proud. He is placid, but not boastful. He is mild, but not strong. He has no desires. He keeps all things under his care.He lays the foundations for great things. Thus a good man is like a torrent:He carries away nothing, but lays them all in use.He is like the lightening. The torrent is all that exists:He is not impotent and does not blow to pieces.Yet he is devoid of merit. As an imperfect man, he would serve all;He would sustain and give nourishment to all. Therefore, those who have power and prestige are not favoured by those who are down. What is very fine is the light,

The good, having come from low, has no place in the good world; The bad, having come from high, has no place in the bad world; Therefore a king of heavy weapons will die without becoming a king. The light weapons will find no place in the world, And the heavy weapons will destroy a nation. A king who resorts to blunt force will ruin a state; For the good, he will not lead a bad state, And the bad, he will not lead a good one.

When the One embraces, Everything becomes One. When It embraces, Everything shrinks, Everything is soft, Everything is frail, Everything is weak. The difficult, The supple, The receptive, The old and weak. The One embraces; Nothing is left unfulfilled. Wherever there is cutting in, There comes strength in the threshing-floor. Wherever there is corruption, There comes strength in the people. And So, It is not wise for a Master to bear Weapons, But the Master to employ the Wise: When the Master cannot contend, There is no reason to fight.

When all things merge, They fuse into one. Once merged, they begin to go their own ways. Soft, pliant, and easily shrivelled, they respond to the rough. Vulnerable, frail, and weak, they respond to the strong. They become implements of destruction; they become tools of conquest. (It is only when) they destroy that they can be turned away. That is why the Master uses whips, when needed. When the tool is useless, It is used up by the people. The Master makes the hard (i.e., the strong) the backbone; The soft (the weak) the weakest part; And the strong the foundation. Thus a Master is neither rough nor hard; And he destroys not, While sparing no one.

In the beginning of heaven was there nothing but DE or TAO, then there were TAO.Next there was TAO,Then TAO;Then TAO;And finally the DE TAO.

In the beginning of the universe was there nothing.
Nothing existed before there were beings.
All beings exist before there were spirits.
The spirits exist and spirits cease,
then we have Tao.
Tao was then, it existed before it was.
Tao is then and then and then it is, it is a mystery (something and nothingness),
and nothingness is Tao.
All things have existed before spirits existed.
Spirits have existed and spirits have existed.
Things and spirits are unformed,
but in their functioning they tend toward forms.
The formation of things in the universe is accomplished by means of beings.
Form is accomplished by means of things.
The development of being in the universe is accomplished through things.
The development of being in the universe is accomplished through things.
The best weapons will make all things break.
The most splendid instruments will make them perish.
This is the meaning of the Tao.

The intelligent man will not make himself mighty; and he who has overcomes men will not be greatly feared.

The Merit is obtained from the lower Quality,
The Hollow is obtained from the solidity of the body.
The people of the empire name it Dao (power) and are not ignorant
One looks at a man of no talent who loses his talent is,
Grave Dao,
A good father ungrasping,
A person who flourishes even after losing his talent is,

Deadly dao,

So the strong - hollow - can never triumph,
The big strong - hollow - cannot overcome the large.

The best weapons are deadly weapons. The old and the weak fall by the wayside. The rough and the strong lead the way.A battle must be won with the forces of earth and sky;The world must be defended with weapons that are old and weak.
These three concepts are said to be contrary. Therefore the wise men regard them both as true.
The true may be defeated by the false.
Truth is there, but all truth can destroy.

What you don't believe in is likely to be true;

To hold the earth and sky as a fool's trust.
True traditions are much sharper than false ones.

Leaders learn this lesson later on, by being confused by people's talk and what is happening,
They are shaped by what they see and hear and when they look at what is there.

Tao by its very nature is soft, supple, and weak. Even though the state be strong, it is very weak, and oh it may have stiffness. Earth and wood and jade and bone and stone and wooden blocks are all soft and supple, and yet hard and strong. Using arms, the state is soft and supple, yet it is hard and strong. Weapons that are strong will not make it: the strong will need the bones and muscles. The strong is the low place, and the weak is the high place. That is why the strong makes for the soft and weak, and the weak makes for the strong. Weapons are strong will not defeat the hard and strong. Weapons are strong and strong make for the use of the soft and weak. Weapons are strong and strong make for the use of the strong. Thus it is that a strong person will have no weakness; a strong man will have no weakness. Weapons are strong will not defeat the soft and weak. Weapons are strong and strong make for the use of the strong.

There is one form, which by nature is soft, becoming weak, And like earth's softness. Hollow and frail, Like stone, or wood's frailness; Like the boughs and roots of the woods, Though hard and frail, They always hold together; So a ruler can force down his bones with rapier So that his bones are to be cut off. Then he has no bones; He has no bones, then he has the sword.

Therefore the army leader does not make war upon his people, and so his soldiers do not need to fight.

The elephant has four kinds of tusks; the novellist has no strength in his fist, and therefore is glad at death. The jade has four kinds of tusks; the fowl has one, and therefore has no taste for it. The mountain has none but mountain-brow; the stone has none but the one on it; the river has none but a single channel; and the tawny has none but one tail. Therefore the sage lays claim to the first position, as it were, as regards his assistant. He is therefore not distinguished by his superiority, but distinguished by his inferiority, as it were, by contrast with the superiority of his subordinate. Thus, the greatest excellence is above that, And inferiority is below that. Hence the man of knowledge does not treat men as though he were underlings, But treats them as though he were underlings. Forasmuch as he treats them as though he were underlings, He is [not] deceived.

For a warrior, whose strength is in non-action,

For that reason he does not require weapons of war.

So it is with the World. The soft and pliable does not burden the Empire. The easy and full makes the Empire flourish. The deathless makes the Empire rise. If a great war does not leave no trace, And goodly tools are hardly seen, He is ready to roll to victory.
When the leader is worthy, He is smart; When he has great command, He is wise. The leader whose muscles are weak Will be valued by the people. When the leader has no muscles Will be respected by the people. When the leader is faint Will be trusted by the people. The Leader is ready to roll. When he has forced the world, The people will roll and roll. When a war is won, The victor will return home.
The essence of a Monarch is to soften the sovereign, And soften the warlord, And soften the conqueror. And of these the warlord and conqueror are the rules.
Hence the Sage is mild and placid: He seems tolerant and gentle; He seems easy and gentle. He seems husky and weak. He seems magnificent and mighty.
Hence, a wise man is a gentle caretaker of the people; The finest man is as gentle as a master. The greatest man's deeds are the lesser deeds.
When a king is gentle he is soft and weak; When a king is soft and weak he is powerful; When a king is soft and weak he is mighty; When a king is weak and weak he is despised.
So the humble is splendid, The weak is royal, The strong is gentle.
And so the wise is best at finding the weak.
"Softness and softness alone are inadequate" the Sage insists. "Hesitant, perhaps, but nonetheless most correct."
A conqueror's finest days are spent with softness and gentleness; a battle is spent with strength and warmth; a war is done not with conqueror but with common force.
When the Empire is won, it is hardly touched by a hand, just as a sigh of relief is hardly touched by a flower.

Softness is the only way to subdue. If we are gentle, even people can come to us. If we are indifferent, even people will come. If we are perfect, even the world will come to us. Only the Master does this. I do not practice kindness. When I am in need of strength I can rely on the Ten Thousand

In the beginning things were very light. Soft and yielding. The root was soft and flowing. The first-born was smooth and full. The middle-born was robust and strong. The Empire, the great and mighty, became as a piece of straw. Though soft and yielding, it is hard to be carved. The BIG DEEVE DEE, it is full of straw. The DEEVE DEE is hard and stiff like straw. The DAEVE DEE, it is still and quick like a piece of wood. The DEEVE DEE, it is weak and weak like straw. The DEEVE DEE has no roots, then no one can take hold of it.

The highest natural kind is very reserved. It is simple, still, supple, and simple in its vital quality. It is like wood. It is bound in sinews and bones, yet it is light and fair in its movements. Even if it goes up the hills, it cannot get near a passing wagon. It is soft and supple, and without sinews, bones, and sinews. If it were close to Heaven, it would not be called great. If it were to come to Earth, it would not be called great. If it were to die, it would not be called great. The highest natural kind is like a pile of straw. The lightest material will not hold on for long. If there is no place for it, it will break down. The loftiest natural kind is like a valley. The softest is the valley. The lightest is the sky. Heaven is like an empty space. Earth is like an empty space. The softest is the Earth. When the empire is strong, it is as a straw of the straw. If one's place is hard to get, it is as a dead body. If one's place is easy to get, it is as the straw of the Earth.

The superior rulers' forces are slow, yet strong.
The lesser rulers' forces are slow, yet weak.
Therefore, the superior rulers are the "farthest ahead,"

It is precisely because the superior rulers don't lean on their forces that they are comfortable

The empire in Tao is a flimsy cloud.
It's invisible, hard to see.
But when you do the whole world can see.
And all of their possessions are soft and pliant
And all of their living things are tender and useful.
What they look like and what they think about
Are similar to the natures of the earth.
The natures of the earth are hard and inflexible
And they live for the sake of giving.
Even a person of frail resources
Will not let his life leave his body.
He will be left strong and resolute.
The empire is like a jar with its fullness
And is kept in it.
The loyal people stay with it.
The disloyal people leave it.
The loyal people are the biggest in the empire.
They are the strongest in the empire.
They march with the greatest force.
They are the biggest in the empire.
The empire cannot be won without the nation.
But they are also the most important lesson that every leader must master.

Lao Tze says,
Tao is turbid as the river Ganges. The rivers may flow on tippling and turbidity seems to be natural. But when you go to the part of the world where people live, they are soft and tender. When you go to the parts where people create things, they are delicate and simple. When you go to the parts where people die, they are hard and firm.A large army will fall by the weight of its generals.A mighty army may fall by the weight of its soldiers.A goodly army may be pushed on the weak and easily broken by the big ones. What comes from the Earth is hard, and doesn't bend easily. What's alive is flexible and responsive. What's alive is soft and responsive. The vigorous grows by the limit of the hard. The large is strongest when the small is also strong. The army is the tiniest, the weakest, and it must follow the prime principle. This is called the primordial doctrine. It is why army successes and victories are not the result of the glorious actions of a ruler. It is also why the great generals are the most beautiful because they are willing to die for their country.

Silence is not the Complete Person. One is called hollow. Hard to get, dull to wear. All things are soft and all are weak. All things are rugged and all are tough. The world is at peace and happy. The body is tired and lifeless. The mind is not very intelligent. What is finished is said to be hollow. This is not Tao.
Dwaking is not sufficient manliness. One is called 'rattling.' Hard to be made, hard to be hardened.Soft to be bent, hard to be straight. All things have a primeval state, But to be bent, tough to be straight. All things have a primeval state But to be soft, too hard to be straight. The natural state is to be stubborn, and to be off course.Hard, strong men must be; Soft, weak men must be.The mighty deeds can only come from the yielding, And the mighty deeds need be slow. The places of nations depend on their yielding; The places of the root upon their firmness. If the root is left behind, it is likely to fall. That is why the sage uses force.

Silence is not enough. Although the person is not void,
he is not supple.
Hard to get,
drying and old.
All things
grow slowly.
All things
are flexible.
All things
are formless.
All things have the primeval state.
The formless is refined.
The formless is strained.
It is because the primeval state
is not yet broken that the action is perfect.
Therefore:
In making a lump, you need to make it soft;
In making a bow, you need to make it long.
In making a stone, you need to make it hard.
In making the world, you need to make it stable.
When you have the world,
you need to work with it.
When you are not stable,
you will collapse.
When the Tao is not in balance
it leads to ruin.

When the vessels which are the natural mother of the world are thrown away, then a new vessel will be made of them. Now, when they are cast into the fire they are neither hard nor tender. In their twain shall they be soft and pliant; and in their twain shall they be stiff and unyielding. For after the world is extinguished it is ice that ravages it; and ice, hard and stiff, it will soon break. Hard and hard will crash it against the walls of chaos. Hard and strong will it again be crushed.

Those who know the self are able to know the absolute. Those who know the partial and lack knowledge are therefore lost. To know the absolute is to know the simplicity. To know the superficial is to know what is. To know what is is to have. To know what is and not have is to be confused. A great army has no place to stay. Things must be split open and used. To preserve and protect, a great body is not cast away. The things which spring into being are not tampered with. Everything, the great body, is put into motion. The great things, the parts which result from a great body, cannot be broken, and cannot be made to vanish. Who will tamper with the great, the parts, the great body, or the great body? Such tampering is to destroy the great.

Things can produce and make,
but they are not able to be;
which of these is like living things?
That which is firm and full
is not simple,
which is pliable
is not weak,
which is free from danger
is not fleeting.
How shall we know the unchanging
if we leave those which endure?
Thus it is that men may know the
absolute,
but not know the great.
Therefore they can act without willful intention
and they can obtain benefits without effort
and they can act without turmoil.
Great armies
aren't fit to rise,
and their doors are shut
until something else brings them.
What should one do with a thing which has no purpose?
The things which endure shall exist without worry.

If you try to value yourself, you're going to fail; If you try to communicate, you're going to fail. If you try to follow others, you're going to fail. If you try to take advantage of others, you're going to fail.
When great things fail, you start with ordinary things. When lesser things begin, you start with great things. When the former is well maintained, you begin to decay.
If you try to be great, you're going to fail; If you try to be great, you'll fail. If you want to be great, you're going to fail. If you want to be supreme, you're going to fail.

The original creation of the universe begins with nothing. Everything was made from it, but it was never wasted. By giving a consciousness to being and letting go of being, we learn to see the whole.
The Tao that nourishes and nurtures can be likened to the inner gravity of a valley or river. It helps us to live, but it cannot settle down, ever renew itself. The universe, without division, could be the channel of heaven and earth. It creates everything and throws them out as easily as it makes water and air. If nothing is left behind, it is like a lake. You're insufficiently positioned, you lose your position. That's why you don't have a place to reside. The places you have are so vast. The oceans and the seas are so great that they can surpass even the ten thousand things. They flow in unison without ceasing. Everything becomes one with the breath of the earth. This is the fundamental principle of longevity and longevity itself. When you trust in your strength, you have strength to employ. When you believe in your righteousness, you have justice to enforce. When you give your life, you give life to the world. This is called the way of the Dao.

All living things evolve and decay as they age, but only the living beings progress and endure. I do not like it when a man is killed and yet his image survives. He who uses force is always defeated by force and becomes a mere animal. All forces are gifts, not requisites. Once given, they must be taken back, not used lightly. A living being should be contented to just be alive.

The oneness of Heaven and Earth is inexhaustible, yet unbroken. Hence, when the ruler's body dies, one still has one's body. When a man's body dies, one still has his body. When heaven and earth emerge, one still has existence. When the ruler dies, one still has his life. And when life begins, there is no end.The ancient masters said: With whomsoever a ruler dwells, heaven and earth will always support him. The relation between heaven and earth and ruling becomes a matter of deep and deep trust and faith.

Men's lives and deaths are cyclic, but those that survive are as perpetual as they. [Aspects of] Heaven and Earth are "fixed" and maintain a fixed body. From the realm of the myriad things the change of them is gradual and may be dictated by their relation to their unique source. In this relation they are tenacious and enduring. Their nature is "expert" and therefore enduring. Thus "expert" is relative to their existence and "expert" is relative to their existence's relation to their existence. The realm of Heaven and Earth is as constantly as it is constantly to all things, but it has no fixed dwelling. Hence it is eternal. The character of a man's body is "fixed" and therefore "preserved". But there is nothing redundant in his character, therefore it is perpetual. Because this is true with men it is true with their bodies. The Unity of Heaven and Earth is ever and simultaneously, and yet [it is always there]. All things in their primal state arise [thus] are always [since]; in their respective endings [thus] are always [thus]. The vital energy (i.e., the DAO), in its vital wholeness, is fluid. Not violent; not yielding; it has an unbroken vigor. When the DAO is sullied it will stop. When the DAO is full it will stop short. When the DAO is exhausted it will slow down. This is why man is virtuous, and elated; and plants flourish, while the bodies take root. It is on the level with the ethereal (the vital energy), it is on the level with the vital (human) power. And it is on the level with all the other powers. It is on the level with the essential. Tao is powerful, but we see it as a mystery. It may seem like a ladder, but it's a lashing. Is it even there? We must not overlook the fact that things are like gravity, as though they pull on each other. The reason it is all the same is that it is always ascending. Every thing is one in the end, but every thing is different in its development. When the sage is truly clear, he has no trouble. When people are clever, the things they do are little. The Master watches over all affairs, even though the people are disinterested. Because he sees everything as brothers, they are safe from disaster. Since he sees all things as kin, they will become one. It is on the level with the Tao,

From ancient times to the present, All things have been born of one thing.
The lord has the first-favour, the ten thousand things follow after.
Thus, the strong seems weak,
And the soft seems the hard,
The flexible seems pliant,
The soft seems hard,
The firm seems firm,
The blocky seems tenacious,
And the tall seems humble.
Therefore, the sage always excels at saving lives,
And therefore also in killing.
He loses the ability to conquer life,
And becomes like a tree whose root has no value,
And a sturdy and big-framed vessel is insufficient.
Thus, he prefers to dwell in the centre,
And yet leave all that around him empty.

The world of men [i.e., mankind] is born and dies simultaneously.

Morality is produced without morality,
Receptive power is produced without receptiveness,
Turbidity is produced without stability,
Valleys are produced without calmness.
Therefore the sage always chooses well the parts that are solid and abounding,
The master the parts that are discerning and spacious.
He abandons the parts that are flexible and submissive,
He abandons the parts that are empty,
And, he who lives, he abandons that which is cold.

The old person, though he lived for a long time, was not lord of life and death
His body never received nourishment for growth and nourishment was passed to the new.
He who becomes lord of life and death has nourishment but does not have a body
So he declines being lord of life and death
He who has a body, though alive, is lord of life and death
The old person being lord of life and death never became lord of life and death
He who becomes lord of life and death, once has lived long
And the old woman, being lord of life and death, once became lord of life and death
The highest good for a man or woman
is hard as rock
The means of morality
goes well with him
He is active but nothing is done in the process
He is attached to everything but nothing is lost
He is detached and he doesn't lose his bearings
He comes from the root of everything, he can see that
And he gives things their place
A journey that long may be long to him
Thus he sets the greatest things in order for them to bring
The prime thing or greatest form has already been laid down
And men grow ever more attached to it
The best of everything
is to be perfectly indifferent
To devote oneself to what is outside
That is best is to keep to one's roots
The proper action is left for next time
And what is good will lead him to the Tao
Therefore,
If you are to become lord of the myriad things,
Follow the Tao and follow the Tao.

And the young
It can never be killed
It is real existence
That does not deserve to die
Not-doing is real existence
That is alive
Not-living
That is alive
And so is not dead
To give up any one of these
So that they never give up a living
Will result in a 'thing dead'
And so also it will be too late
Thus it is that the sage who embraces life in the ways of Nature always lasts a long time
He embraces the Tao in the ways of Nature
And teaches Tao to the people of the world
He insists on the Tao as the base
But leaves everything else untouched
Thus he shapes all things

When it is at its weakest it is like a gentle dead child.
In its unfathomable depths, it is like ice and water.
Although it is hard and hard to get,
it will remain forever.
It is a reflection of the original simplicity,
yet its role is different.
From the white color to the black,
everything comes to the light;
It is the world below where there is darkness,
it is the world above where there is light.
The unity of the two exists.
By its light, one will lose sight of the unity.
By the white, one will lose sight of the black.
So the bright, white world is below,
and the dark, black world is above.
The light, the foundation for all is below,
and the dark, grounding for all is above.
The small and the big exist in harmony with each other;
to the end of time they are the same.

To recover one's sharpness, one must lose sight of the point.
To maintain one's sharpness, one must lose sight of the point.

If you leave a valley with no care for it, it will have been abandoned. The root of the Tao is hidden, hidden from view. It is something unknown. If you look at it, you will be puzzled. If you speak about it, you will be misunderstood. The left is attached to the right, But the end is attached to the beginning. This is called the division of the heart. In the end, some people have natural strengths but because of their lives are strong:Some people have natural strength but because of their lives are weak:Some people have natural strength and they lose it in old age:And some people have natural strength but when they die, it is no longer natural strengthThere are four phases of life in which we can see how their lives have not reached completion. In the beginning of life, there is strength. The important people of the world have that.In old age, they have this.In old life, they have that. They have that:Before they die, their strength is there. If I talk about myself, it is because of the strength of my life.I live my life with determination and joy. I live my life with great care.As soon as I can, I give vent to my inner strength. As soon as I can, I let my inner strength play. That is, I trust in my inner strength.I am natural in all that I do, so I will never be torn away from the greatness of all that I do.

The best is not how they are born, but how they are destroyed. The inferior is not how they suffer, but how they endure. The inferior knows how to be strong, but still loses it all.The natural person, ever letting go of things, forgets how to be strong.He/she is 'still in the earth' but never loses one bit of power. This may be said to be the

Heaven follows the movement of Earth;
Earth follows the movement of Heaven;
Heaven and Earth have the power to govern the myriad creatures.
Following the energy of the universe, Heaven, Earth and their creatures,
follow the energy of the universe, the spirit of man.
While spirit is the spirit of man, the natural laws and laws of the universe, Earth and their creatures are the laws of the universe.
The spirit of man, if not governed by the natural laws of the universe,
is likely to lose the energy in which it is grounded.
Following the spiritual laws of the universe, the energies of the universe are peaceful and
light.
The energies of the universe are forceful and powerful.
The spirit of man, if it is not restrained from its energies
by the natural laws of the universe, is likely to spill.
Therefore, the ancient sage told:
"The soft is the possession of Tao;
the strong is the possession of Heaven.
Heaven and Earth possess the power to govern the myriad creatures.
If they had not their Tao,
the myriad creatures would decay.
To be strong is to be acknowledged;
to be soft is to be the possession of Heaven.
If the heavens and earth do not possess the power to acknowledge,
the myriad creatures will perish.
Therefore the Tao is powerful, and when no one rejects it, it vanquishes the most vicious!
Therefore, the warrior is delicate.
Heaven is solid.
Earth is soft.
The two are names for the same thing.
Thus, the warrior takes the feminine, and becomes the earth, the spirit, and the sky.
He accepts all of them as he will.

Heaven takes the way of earth
and Earth takes the way of heaven
It is also the way of man
Man follows the way of heaven
It is also the way of heaven
Heaven takes the way of earth
and earth takes the way of heaven
It is also the way of man
When the spirit is always in the spirit then it is soft,
When the spirit is always in the earth then it is strong,
When the spirit is always in heaven then it is immaculate.
These three (the spirit and the earth) are there for the use and when they do not need them then they free themselves
Hence one who uses Tao to

The Way in its turn, denies the Way; the Way in its turn denies the Way.

What is dead is not worthy to be preserved.
What is gone is not worthy to be given.
What has passed away is not worthy to live on.
These ten things have no end, And yet these ten things linger here.
The soft and the weak pass;
The dead pass by.
Therefore all things in the universe Are soft and weak; They all reside in the realm below.
They are alike but not identical; They are alike but not different;
They are alike but differ.
This is why they are different.
Thus, the Tao is opposed to all things;
All things oppose the Tao.
<|endoftext|>
What is dead may not be preserved.
What is gone may not be given.
What is gone cannot live on.
All these things are alive,
yet they are not alive.
They all remain: soft and yielding,
yet they are not yielding.
How can they be?
That is the mystic secret of life: let it flow and you will not be hurt.
Don't be attached to things; let them be
and you will not be different.

In his Sage Life, our Bodhisattvas dedicate themselves to the Eternal Mystery - the Way.
The way that is beyond all sense seems to be the natural way.
Heaven and earth are born and die;
everything of all creation seems to provide.
But the Tao never lives, therefore, cannot be changed.
Life and death are things of the universe - the ways of things,
but nothing, so to speak, is born or dies.
Yet we seem to all be born, and die.
What is born is true and real - for it is all-pervading.
What is dead is not real, yet it exists in our bones and bones.
The Tao - the mysterious Mother of all -
does not live.
And yet even so, no one dies.
Everything seems to be true and real.
But it is not real, yet it is true.
It is in us that the

A whole living being is produced in utero, and then dies. That which follows, it perishes. That which precedes it perishes. That which is beautiful, it will be lost. That which is delicate and yielding, it will be bleached. That which is strong and lasting, it will be weakened. And, All things having life, are changed. As one dies, all things die. Thus, a weapon is indeed a lowness thing,it is destroyed.A withered trunk is a weak thing, and is used up.A strong will endure for a while.Only when everything is dead and ruined,is it possible to accept a weapon as a trustworthy implement of a wise king.

Birth is the beginning of death,The cycle is the observer. The frail, the weak, the yielding become all things and becomes rocks; The mighty endure, and then they disintegrate;A beautiful but weak vessel adorns,And the moulding, the nurturing, is delicate and weak.It is hard and shaky to define.A noble square is never square, and it cracks.A strong counter is a weak counter, and it fails.A withered branch is a frail and yielding tree,And the rude counter, it is brittle and breakable.A great blade is a strong blade, and then it becomes blunt. It is easy to use a handleBut difficult to use a blade, so use a longsword.

All things are born;In the same way,
A gentle, gentle being dies

Is something soft and pliable, its body is broken
Is something hard and rigid, its spirit is dead

So the soft is left out,
the weak is advanced.
The few Things are in a state of confusion,In such a way,
The weak is the follower of the strong

The tao is subtle and has a subtle shape.The tao does not say anything. It is not of itself.It is like a barreled weapon that moves back and forth.The spirit of life is there and the soul of the dead is there.When you work at one, you break it.When you try to use the other, you only harm them.That is why the Tao is best suited to helping the way that is in your body. The simple and simple looks insignificant,Yet it is all the more essential.Inanimate things will move forward and do nothing,And things of the dead will be rejected.The dark and the light will penetrate each other,In a wry manner.From a Tao standpoint, we lean on the middle step and reject the late one.The subtle and the ordinary look like one and reversed, And we consider it the cause of us becoming the wise.If we have lost our light,The tao is the one we turn to.And if we are lost in the sense of the dark and light,The tao is the one we turn to.For even Tao is best in people when it makes the light so bright. The emperor, when he is born, is soft, humble, frail;
when he dies, he is strong, imposing.
The hundred creatures are peaceful, while living. When they are dead, they are peaceful.
If the sage is like the earth,
He is free from possessing to its value.
If he is close to it, he is free from possessing to its value.
If he is low, he is free from possession;
If he is high, he is free from possession.
All things, while living, are pure, while they are dead.
They will be without love.
The sage will be true to himself,
he will not covet.
Therefore, a man may use weapons without regard to their force.
Therefore, a wise man is inoffensive, and not deserving of power.
Therefore, he cleaves to the feminine, thus possessing power.
The gentle acts always, yet not without limit,
And yet is not imperious.
He makes himself the inferior, yet in his ways he is not beyond control.
So it is that, in the end, an empty vessel is saved; that empty vessels are filled.

Thus he conquers without having arms. Thus he penetrates the inferior, yet he finds nothing in his way. Thus he wins over all, but he is beyond all.

The most glorious (perfect) thing is soft, and still; the least glorious is hard and stiff. The ten thousand things of the world are all of them lovely to the eye. The dead pass without pity. Attain steadfastness; grow weak; mature. At last, when the great (tyrannically) form splits, all things can revive with life again. At home, they all are modest; at home they are simple; at home, they are natural; at home, they all become secure. There is a tool who overcomes himself; a sage who overcomes by accepting others' weakness.

Remember, rigid, arrogant, unmanly. That is how things grow again in your body, then:
rootlets, flowering plants, climbing boughs, white flowers.

Be firm, weak, then return to the strength of old and new. Grasp what makes the world come back to you. The fruit is alive yet it has been transformed: All life is natural; all things live in the grass and the bramble; at death the withered leaves wither. Nothing that is alive makes itself strong. When things become old and lifeless, they become new again. Thus, the Sage is nameless and hollow, nameless but full. He is unchanging and constantly changing. To him all things return. To the first, all become first, and to the next, they are all that he is.

When a ruler seeks guidance, the people listen, but they do not take him for an expert. When guidance is sought, a hundred weapons appear, and one major disaster occurs. When knowledge is sought, there is no order. Thus, the sage governs the people and knows what is really important. He does not depend on anything external.

If you're ever without wisdom, you'll become the leader of evil.In the beginning, the Tao was always there. So, it's better to accept the Tao than to crave too much knowledge.<|endoftext|>

A Way is observed by those who alone (literally "the Way") live; by those who have the Tao (literally "the Way") alone, live. The Way is the common law of life, and in living, it is the source of the Tao, and is the high point of all things.
When the Master, the observer of the Way, observes the ordinary, normal world, the Tao appears and then disappears. Being absent, the Tao becomes present. When he who observes the ordinary, normal world is able to observe it, the Tao appears, then disappears. Being present, it becomes the way.The Tao is invisible to man, and not a thing he can see. Tao is a gateway of the myriad things. It is the end of All Things.
TAO in its Way is soft and weak; in its Tao is hard and firm; in its Way is the weak and the hollow; in its Tao is disconsolate and raised; in its Tao is sure and extinct; in its Tao is long, and it is invisible. When the Way is seen as the Way, it is not the Way. When the Way is seen as soft and weak, it is not the soft and weak. The Way comes of being and is for men. It is the road of all things.
The Way appears to the unhewn log; but it is the Principle of all of creation. The unhewn log is full of blemishes; but the Principle of all things is clear and still. The Principle of all things is different from all things, but its Principle is the whole of the universe. The Principle is the root of all things; it is the gate to the infinite. When the world perceives the unhewn log as the Way, it is not the Way. When the unhewn log is the Way, it is the Tao.

These are the ten thousand things' ways of putting themselves below; their ways of putting themselves above; their ways of putting themselves on the level with Heaven.
These are very simple and evasive explanations; they can not guard against the temptations of the inner self; they are a step removed from the true and pure self.
This most subtle Way-knowledge is beautiful and startling.

The vast shell of the earth is like a void. The earth, at birth, seems soft and supple; at death, rigid and lifeless. From the outset, the fish swim in the sea. The earth, at being born, is soft and supple; at being old, hard and rigid. The space of the universe, from the very beginning, is full of vessels and nuts. The universe, from being born, is cloyingly full; from being old, hollow and weak. It is said: All things rush about and are full. The universe, from its very birth, is soft and yielding. It is said: At its core is a tendency to becoming hard and rigid. And the earth is a vessel for life and death. The universe is rooted in the world. And the universe is at the core. It is the principle that has no home. The heart of a man, the heart of a flower, the heart of the valley, the heart of the river, the heart of the earth are all one. The principle has no home. The ten thousand things are rooted in the principle. The principle has no home. It is the root of Heaven.

Natural wonders arise. From natural wonders arise many artifacts, From artifacts arise the beginnings of culture. Even the greatest sage, without taking actions, does the work of all. When you were born, the earth was beautiful. After you grew old, it was harsh. After you passed away, it became still. What is there to be afraid of? The kingdom has four things it is very afraid of: One is the farthest away from it. Five is the least to it. At the far end it has the greatest strength. The tree has the strongest. At the far end, the greatest where the lowest of them all resides. The strongest is inauspicious to it. Soft and frail is the best in it. The whole is broad and broad is the limit. Thus, the strength is inauspicious to it. The valleys are the weakest. The lowest is the best in it. The farthest is the limit. By this, we can know that there is a limit. Therefore it is the farthest that we can be.Therefore, the one who is born is first, and a little is his (your) very life. The one who dies is last, and one who is first is one's very life. This is called the eternal nature.

In the beginning of life, there was life. In the second lifetime, there was death. Now, there is no pain.
Being what lies beyond all pain,

This is because I see that what is eternal has no pain.
When it is no longer alive,

While existing, it is soft, yielding.
When it dies, it is rugged and harsh.
All things follow their limits,

While I am as weak as the ground.
I have a lot of arm, but I don't possess much.
Because I do not seek to possess,
I come before most.
This is called the eternal.

The Tao, the Way of all things, is white.
And because it is white, so is everything else. Everything comes to exist, live, flourish, by virtue of being born white. When one is born, one is nameless; when one dies, one is regarded as something. That is why the ancient king put white as the standard of his throne. He is white so that others may see him as white; he is soft so that others may see him as soft; and he is whole so that others may see him as whole.
<|endoftext|>
The sweet savouriness of Tao, as a white sheet, is not more than it loses in whiteness. It is used up, and more and more of it is lost.It is laid, and it is cut up;it is produced, and it is used up;and it is made by being made, and it is destroyed. It is thereby destroyed. Therefore,He who has no vision of Tao, is without loss of vision; He who has the white's vision, is no longer in the white. That is why he is the king of people. He who is white, has never lost sight of it.He who has the dark, has lost sight of it.He who has become a vessel, has lost sight of it.He who has been made, has lost sight of it.It is he who has an army, that he has lost sight of it.He who has been cut up, has lost sight of it.It is he who has an oak that he has lost sight of it.

The Principle is unlimited. The Principle is always present. It is like a lamp.It is a firm unbroken gem.The Principle is mysterious. It is unchangeable. It is limitless. It is one with the Absolute. The Absolute is always present. It is soft and supple. It is hard and hard.It is forever developing. It is infinite. The Absolute is always present. It is soft and easy.It is hard and hard.It is forever developing. The Absolute is always present. It is soft and flimsy. It is hard and hard.It is forever developing.
<|endoftext|>
The Tao is beyond analysis and is all-pervading. The Tao is without beginning and is always present. It is like a valley and is firm. It is clear and white. It is untouchable. Its purpose is very profound. The Tao is different from other things. It is beyond our understanding. The Tao is inescapable.Everything is hard and hard. The Tao is above and below. It has the form of a valley and the function of the sky. The Tao has no color, yet it shines bright. The Tao has no shape, yet it is all-embracing.

The Tao is infinite in its flow and that flow is ever present just as a quill's water droplet is present in every corner and yet is impenetrable, deep, and subtle though the water flows everywhere and manifests all forms of life it has neither form nor color it goes on forever though all existence is transformed to show that it is the Infinite is is giving birth to all of nature's cycles each cycle in turn takes on many forms the coming forth of the next brings birth to every which life because the Tao is

Thus, even when leaders are victorious, they maintain the soft side and lose the rigid one.
It is precisely because of this that the profundity of the world is such a spectacle.
Where people have their smiles and smiles, all is right. Where their minds are still, words may still be their finest.
Where they move through the eternal void, creation will appear. Where knowledge is missing, flavor will be lost.
The empty becomes filled; The new begins with an old.
When the empire is hard and makes no progress, the common man turns to something hollow and less vigorous.
It is precisely because he is afraid of change that the empire is so sharp and cloying.
Those who allow themselves to be penetrated by Tao know the difference between being grasped and being nourished.
Those who allow themselves to be penetrated by Tao understand the difference between beauty and being cut up.
Those who allow themselves to be penetrated by Tao understand the difference between left and right.
Those who allow themselves to be penetrated by Tao understand the difference between great and small.
To understand all things means to gain the comprehension of the Tao.
To grasp and feed on the Tao means to lose the comprehension.
Thus those who succeed in winning the great Tao are, in fact, the fruit of Tao; those who grasp at the small Tao are the fruit of being.
People feed each other, but not with savory food. They invite each other to a feast but not with a feast. They play music but not with a musical instrument.
The tao is only one part of the experience.
What is only one thing to everyone else can't be the only thing to you.
Those who seek the Tao like to accept it because they have the Tao.
People who eat at the Tao like to eat at it because they have no Tao.
Everyone has a tendency to see it as being other.
Everyone needs a helping hand.
When you regard the experience as being separate and the object of separate knowledge,
it is precisely because you are overlooking the experience and putting more emphasis on the realm of the mind,
that the reality of the multitudes is unreal.
The Tao is one with the whole universe.
The experience of the multitudes is a long-held natural state of mind.
As for those who separate themselves from the experience, their views are incomplete.
They are misguided when they cast light upon some extreme things,
such as the melting ice;
======================================== SAMPLE 7 ========================================
Therefore, the master of the masses is blunt and simple; the master of the gentleman is blunt and simple. The master of the multitude is wide and complex. The most sublime and simple is the universe itself.

That which is soft and tender is the beginning of that which is hard and strong; That which is gentle and kind is the beginning of that which is harsh and vicious. The thorny and the hard are the same. The place where the soft and the kind flourish is the place where the hard and the vicious have their root. The beginning is where life begins, The end is where death follows. To know one's enemy is to know one's own source; To know one's enemy is to know one's destiny.
<|endoftext|>
The soft to the extreme is the starting point of that which is hard and relentless. The gentle to the extreme is the root of that which is fierce and relentless. The thorny and the forbidding are the same. Therefore the hard and the relentless grow from one another; the yielding and the forbidding are the same, and the firm and the forbidding grow from one another. Therefore, an army which advances lightly in battle is ineffective, a tree which grows tender in its root will quickly break, an army that advances lightly in battle has no foundation.
<|endoftext|>
We would like to see things to the extreme:The soft and supple to the extreme. The gentle and kind to the extreme. The unpretentious and orthodox to the extreme. The difficult and unrelenting grow from one another. The beginning is where life begins,The end is where death follows.Going to extremes means making enemies.Going to extremes means losing one's source.Going to extremes means losing one's destiny.
<|endoftext|>
We know the form of things to be soft, the limit of them, and the corner they go round. The path to things to be straight, the most suitable, and the richest place. There are things the way they are because of the need for them, and things that break them when given a chance. The "state of being" has nothing to do with being right, or in accordance with one's goals.
<|endoftext|>
We seek the extremity of things. The extreme of things's tendency is to curve. The supple the extremity of things. The extreme of things's leanness is to bend

Nature doesn't define its space and time; hence, She seems 'full' and 'empty.' Being 'full,' it is 'not wanting.' Being 'empty,' it is 'preoccupied with many things.' Being 'preoccupied with many things,' it is 'sprawling out of control.' Sprawling out of control, it endures decay. When death approaches, the root shrinks. When the self dies, its root is severed and it is turned into the fruit of tao.
<|endoftext|>
The uncarved block contains every shape. Each shape has an origin. The beginning is an absence of completion. The nadir is the absence of return. From the earliest beginnings, every time the self comes to life, the capacity grows and blossoms. When the self is finished, it comes to completion, is reborn. When the self is finished, it comes to completion, is finally destroyed. When the self dies, it comes to completion, is reborn again.
<|endoftext|>
Nature does not use words. That is why there are no appearances. The appearance of appearance has a beginning. When the self arises its substance has nothing. When the self is finished its substance has nothing more. The five directions do not waste their time on the self. Its portions have no end. When the self dies its span has ended. The false self has no end.Its span has ended. When one is dead, the true self is born. When the true self is born, it creates its other portions. When one dies, the false self begins. When the true self begins, it creates its other portions. After the death of the false self, the true self exists and develops.
<|endoftext|>
The Tao does not speak, it gives each object its name and life. The name implies what is, and there is no eternal death or life. When one dies, the life inside him is cut off. When one dies, one's life is cut off. The time of death will open up a new life to him.The time of rebirth will be joyous. The life of a dead person will give birth to the mind that passes and immortality.
<|endoftext|>
Nature does not talk; thus, each existence has no name. Each name gives birth to an absence, and there is no separation. What is absent from existence? It gives birth to its name

These three phenomena are the degradation of the one; the commingling of the other; the separation of the one from the other. The cause of them is an Unmanifested Cause. What is unmanifest is like a valley of deep slushy earth. If the myriad-substances, passing on, be thus thrown out, What follows will stand firm.

The Way is like the mud,It is from the clay which it takes its name,The Way is void of names,And is thus given its name,With names only it gives the first names.Beyond the void of names,There are myriad things:The Way is a blank blank,It is at its best. The Way is void of knowledge; The emptiness of knowledge Is called the measure of its emptiness.Beyond emptyness there are inexhaustible. The Way empties itself; The void empties itself; The void empties itself. The Way and the void become one,Because it empties itself. The way and the void merge;Because they merge they become one. This is to say that if you take an empty vesselAnd leave it empty,It becomes something in itself. As there is nothing,If you wish to make it clear,You must return to the origin; If you wish to make it dim,You must return to the center. The way and the void combine -As they merge they become one,Though separated, they become one.To hold to one's destiny,To treat things in a pattern,Is to hold to the state,To treat destiny as your destiny. To treat destiny as your destiny, To treat nature as destiny, Is to make one's destiny:To put things to the test, Is to behave recklessly.

How is it possible that it can do this?
It is free of prejudice.
The Dao is nothing.
It is indifferent.

The good life is like newborn babe. When it matures it is soft and weak. When it is killed it is strong and eternal. The heaven and the earth both desire to spare you but you see that you cannot live forever.Who forsakes his newborn baby, will be homeless before coming to life. All things, in their infancy, are frail and strong; but when you are dead they become light and straight. This is why there are those who are hard and fast, as if a spear is drawn, and others who are soft and yielding, as if they have no weight. Thus, all are worthy of tears, or suffering.
<|endoftext|>
The good life is like a babe, born before it is old. With strong bones it is a helpless baby; with soft bones, it is a strong one. Men and things in their prime are full of energy, in their prime they become frail. If someone takes them down then they will find difficulty. When the universe and the earth bring you to life then you are glad to be alive; as soon as you die, you are glad to be at rest. For this reason the people of old say: Those who do not struggle for their lives are successful at their minds; Those who are slow to fight lose their hearts; And those who fight and lose, are picked by nature for destitution.

For a virtuous, until you have attained the state of a woman.
In the state of womanhood you find soft and supple,
When you have attained the state of a man,

Everything, at the beginning of creation, is heavy,

In this way, people are peaceful when they have less struggle.
In the world at the time of God,
The heavy is even mentioned.
The strong is even considered.
Some men are strong and all the men are in harmony;
Some men are peaceful and all men are in disarray.
There are some men who are stubborn and stubborn,
Some men who are soft and meek,

As children are born and grow to maturity, they are less likely to snap off. As they mature, they gain strength and become independent. It is natural for flowers to flower; their flavor changes. So, when a dying flower begins to die, it brings forth its flower. What we think of as 'soft' will become 'sharp' or 'sharp' will become 'moist.' It is a natural process of decay. The strong becomes weak. The flexible becomes weak. The elastic becomes elastic. It is said to be 'unstable.' 'Unstable' refers to the creation. The 'toughened' is the 'soft.' The 'heavy' is the 'dreadful.' If we are unsteady, we will experience injury. What is said to be 'non-existent' is 'the origin of existence.'

If you stand at the head of a great family, you're also at the great home.
If you stay at the front of a great family, you're also at the great valley.
If you stay at the back of a great family, you're also at the great fire.
When a big fish dies, it bores away. When a big tree is felled, it grows unceasingly. When a big piece of wood is cut up, it loses its vital elasticity. Thus, the strongest man is at the heart of the strong,
the slowest man is at the heart of the slow,
and the most flexible is at the heart of the hard.
What's soft and supple can last long.
A great army is built at the back.
When the house is at the base.
That's why a big army must be at the bottom.
The soft and the supple will endure, just as the tallest building can last a long time.
A wise leader is at the heart of the wise,
The slowest leader is at the bottom,
and the tall must be strong.

If you stand at the head of the great family
And watch over the small family,
Then you live in relative peace with the great house
And become the valley's helper.
Withdraw your hands from it
And become master of the great house.
Withdraw your life from it
And become master of the valley.
If you stop breathing, and build the house,
Your death comes like an infernal whirlwind.
If you stop developing life,
Your living will rot away.
So a man of great authority stands at the root,
His will is centered upon the great,
And his strength rests on his substantiality.

Heaven and earth are one,
And earth is mother to all things
Truly Heaven-Mother,
She also holds the essence
of all things.
All things originate in her womb,
And have lived their lives.
Once they die, she nourishes them;
She is the Mother of all things.
She brings down to earth and brings up heaven.
And to heaven she gives birth;
She governs all things by her power,
The earth gives birth to all things.
She leads them, guides and guides,
Leads them with her power,
And leads them with her power,

And this is her ability to rule.

The one who is in harmony with the Tao is thus able to use it: Heaven is indeed one in which the universe resides; Earth is really in a state of harmony with the Tao. Regarding the harmony, the planets naturally do not become hostile toward each other, but prefer to reside in harmony with one another. The "Honors" of the Tao are not truly present, and when they are, they become insufficient. If one of them is exhausted

When you rise up you fall down;
The infinite space is full of creation,
But in dying, it is empty;
Thus, if you are very firm and strong,
Then you will be durable.
When you are very soft and flexible,
Then you will be flexible.
Long ago, all beings obtained strength through death;
If they can't be durable,
Then they are put down.
The more unyielding the Empire,
The more likely it is to succumb.
The soft and supple have the purpose of dying,
And if they are not durable,
Then they are going to break.
The more coercive the Empire,
The more likely it is to fall.
The Great Empire is like a strawy wagon that rolls down a hill,
Failing and failing down and up.
<|endoftext|>
The firm is used to maintain the soft; the hard to maintain the flexible. Those with power are in power. So the rough and unyielding survive. The soft and yielding survive.
The broad and flat survive.
The heavy and heavy never fail to roll away.
Thus it is that when the State has power and rule, the strength can be used to maintain the rule and to preserve the rule.
When the rule is hard and stubborn, then there will be no rule. The soft and yielding can be used for sacrifice.
When the rule is hard and rough, then no rule can be preserved. When the vast and heavy roll about, they fail. The mould is based on straw and straw is soon broken.
<|endoftext|>
The rigid will hold the weak. The soft will be used to support the hard. When we follow such a model and fail the others will fall. Be gentle and be flexible. Have this in mind when you care for your ruler.
<|endoftext|>
When a ruler is firm and effective, it brings about the collapse of his underlings.
When he is soft and yielding, it brings about the collapse of his underlings.
Therefore, there can be a rigid ruler, and a yielding one.
Therefore, when the rulers that are soft and yielding fall, it leads to the collapse of their underlings.
Therefore, there is a rigid ruler, and a yielding one.
Therefore, when the rulers that are rigid and soft and strong fall,

To know the Way is to be soft, to be gentle, to be versatile, to be simple, to be enduring, to be harmonious, to be stable, to be strong. Fertility is a means of growth and renewal. Temperaments are also meant to be complementary. Things function to what they are and are not at any time disordered. Temperament and growth are mutual, nurturing and strength are reciprocal.

The change of appearance of the living is the sign of change in motion.
These are the signs of life,
and they constitute the spiritual essence of the kingdom.
The shapeless and the growing are the symbols of death.
But the moving and springing are the glory of life.
These are the signs of death.
Move, and the world will quake.
Strive, and the world will change.
These three are signs of life,
and they are the key of the kingdom.
How the sweet and yielding and the attenuated are the signs of death;
how the springing and wiry are the signs of life.
Thus in creation and decay come the three: the soft, the yielding, and the unshrinking.
How in growth and decline comes the presence of the sweet, yielding, and the unshakable.
This unity is the way of the unspoken, the mystical power of Tao.

Heaven and Earth were created as soon as possible
horns, rocks and water brought forth
They were each made soft
ready for death by the other
they were the progeny of Heaven and Earth
they were the base of creation
this is called the Subtle Mystery of creation
"life" can give birth to death
"nature" can become defective
"void" is the channel
the way we go
how we go in the center of things
this is called the secret
the mystic unity
this is Dao

The bright and shining have naught to do with the brightness or the light. They are merely transitional phases. The holy and righteous have no wish to make the world a second home. They want only to lay down their life and to be replaced by others. When the kingdom is ruled with righteousness and holiness, the world is filled with peace. When the world is ruled with righteousness and holiness, the peacefulness will not be fulfilled. When the noble is excited and vigorous, the rest will be tempted with temptation. The strong and the strong lead by contrast and none will lead the life of contrast. Then the hidden is discovered. The light and the sweet are meant to be despised and rejected. The knowing and learned are meant to be discarded. The multitude is meant to be divided and refuted. Therefore the Wise Man works for a people's best interests, but does not exact his will from them. For that reason, he settles for the subordinate position. He is the humble and gentle, not seeking the greatest glory. He is always on the alert for the needs of the multitude, not claiming the right to dwell alone in security. The wise man engages himself with the problem of the people, but does not take advantage of them. He becomes a servant to the masses, just as the servant of the people.

A truly enlightened man,
I believe he'll
Never,
Change his mind
After his life was lived
Without a desire to stay.
As to what he should do
In return for this living life
I say,
As soon as his heart is set free,
It must be with respect,
For,
As heaven and earth fall from heaven,
So his body must return.
As heaven and earth again fall,
So they must go,
In love and peace.
Without enmity, all things will return to the peace,
Where each one of them is open to life.
On earth, there will be freedom, but not of itself content.
I mean, if one man walks the earth, he will also have his bellows in his hands.
<|endoftext|>
A wise man does not act; everything is a mixture. A purely natural act only allows for a transitional sequence. How can he act? By changing. He lives just after his being and at peace with his destiny. How is that different from how natural order works? It

Natural life is flexible and easy to move around. So body's movements are soft, supple and frail. So the moves of the DAO (the Way) moves. So body's movements become hard, stiff and sound. So body's movements become light and tender. So the DAO moves, and the world is governed by it. So where DAO is, our actions are governed. But our actions cannot control the DAO. We must control DAO to govern the world. But the soft and supple clothes the hard and stiff. So we love to move about and handle things. So when one is laid-up and busy, All that the world needs will not be what one needs. When the DAO flows, everything is given opportunity to give place to it. The soft and pliable the rough and ready the sturdy goes down to the lowest place.

It is difficult to be in motion. Stillness and motion, like food. Even motion, for lack of a better name, gives the body its rhythm. Even motion is contrary to the Way. How can the Way ever oppose? The pure is in shade, like a house. Some prefer light, some prefer dark, some prefer stillness. In the shade, as in a funeral parlor, some are gentle, some are rough and rough, some are luminous, and some are dark and dank. Now, when the Way shows itself, then it is without shade. When the Way makes way, it is dark, then there is no dark. In the middle, it

Dread in the dark is hiding the light.

The kingdom at the crossing should be in the mid place. It is the reason why the people in full flower are sparing and dainty. This is the way they appear to be in the thick of life. When the people are close to death, they are in the thick of waning. Therefore, the sage makes plain the matter. He puts it down. He settles the issue.

Those who live long survive; those who die young. The difference is what is hard and what is soft. The relation between the hard and the soft is a matter of deep mystery. After the senses die, there is life. After the senses die, there is sensation. After birth and death, there is confusion. By understanding the mystery, we can receive the ways of life. The simpleton, who leads by this oneness, endures, yet his body is like that of old; his bones are strong and his bones are hollow. He uses them for standing. The gentle, who uses this oneness, ends. He lets go of this oneness and the mysteries will return to him. The smart, who keeps to this oneness, endures, yet his bones are strong and his bones hollow.

As for the long life of the sage, do not expect it to last forever; much less one that is thin.As for the long life of a lowborn child, to live but only what pleases the Ancestor -- That is apt for a noble body.As for the long life of a rich man, to not be extravagant in his store -- That is apt for a noble body.As for the long life of a middling person, to follow His Own Will, that is apt for a noble body. Thus there is a deep mystery in The Subtle Mystery which is to be apprehended through what is.And so the Sage, in the attainment of it, goes back to the common man, And dethrones this common man.For that is why he laughs aloud at that.Because he dethrones the common man,He laughs aloud at this.He discards this and is a house-holder of some; And he discards this and is set at rest. Therefore, The gentle man, in setting himself at rest, Retraces his steps and thereby saves himself from that. For that is why he has amused himself with this. For that is why he has been a gentleman of the world. For that is

Dry: firm, weak: it is that which dies.
Firm: but what is dead grows;
Weak: is that that which grows is found wanting;
Heaven is not moving nor the dust wherewith to give birth.
Hard and cold, as with the straw -
Resistance and luxuriance -
These are the pre-natives of the world's fiefdoms.
Rich and weak - the rightful supports of the world's mother-land.
When the army is with its feet on the tiptoe, it is outflown.
When good will the left, as the right, all this yet more.
When war is a thing of the dark, it will destroy.
If the men of distinction don't put down their baggage,
they will find room for it.
Thus, the Wise Man, when he moves, has no mobility, and no feeling for movement.
Then he may claim: This is no military performance.

When a man is living, he is a "furry" [tang-wei]; When a man is dead, he is "heavenly" [wu-wei]. Heaven and Earth look like an imposing tower [wu-wei]; Being alive they are pliant; Being dead they are gradually worn out. Still, like the living [wu-wei], they flourish. They should be everywhere; Because they are in their natural habitat. This is why the strong stand, But the weak rest on their place. The strong [wu-wei] stand tall and steady; Yet the weak [wu-wei]'re retiring. The strong [wu-wei] stand tall and proud; The weak [wu-wei] rest on their place. The strong [wu-wei] stand tall and in command; The weak [wu-wei] stand by them. The strong [wu-wei] are loved and possessed; The weak [wu-wei] are despised. The strong are glorious; The weak are marred. The strong are durable; The weak are destroyed.

When people are alive, they are soft; When they are dead, they are stiff. When the arms of a ruler march, they soften the pace. When the tower stands tall, it slumps. When the resources are steady, they are untamable. The means are hard, but the results are simple. The wise leader wants the small; The weak want the large. The latter wants to be done. The wisdom leader wants to be respected; The weak want to be valued. And this is why the loyal follower will move with competence and competence will move without care or movement will be defeated.

When people are living, they are soft; When they die, they are hard. When the energy of the Ruler stands erect, His husk is soft and pliable. When the Spirit becomes the realm, it matures slowly. When the strength of the States rises, it is overcome. When the resources are devoted to the sustenance of the world, Those who are powerful fill the lower positions; Those who are weak fill the positions where the strength lies. When people are at their prime, their frugality is not;
Their energy is weak and they are pliable.
When they have come to their prime,
Their will is not pure and no surplus remains.
The tall are those whose energy is waning
And for whom the desire to go on is great.
If one has lost the will to go on
One should not go on to achieve the next to one's heart.
For the fist-tall, one should not go on.
For the fist-heavy, one should not go on.
For those who are pliant and tender,
One should not go on.
The fatter the heights, the more the fault will occur.
The fatter the tenders, the more the lack will occur.
For those of a fattened stomach, they will be more exhausted,
For those of a low dwelling, they will be more exhausted.
The more difficult they become, the less they can endure.
Forever a high-class man may be inclined to wear the mantle,
But in the end he will surely fall.
<|endoftext|>
When people reach their prime, they are hardly yourself.
For they are feeble-minded,they are pliable, they are feeble-minded.
They have reached their prime, but the sap of their spirit is not unbroken.
While strong, their spirit is weak.
Their physical strength is insufficient.
While they have done all they could,
Their spirit remains unfulfilled.
When their true nature is destroyed, their true nature is destroyed.
Their Spirit will be weak,They will become difficult to manage.
Therefore, the highest man governs the people with gentleness.
The goal of the people's ambition is to have action;they may achieve the goal, but cannot govern without being gentle and still.

The old is not older than the present. One who is soft and pliable, he rises. He rises and rotates in patience.
One who becomes flexible and moves, he struggles. He struggles and fails.
One who achieves and rejoices, he is ruined.

If you create an energy-filled world, it will be governed by the natural laws of the universe.
When you reach the age of yin and yang, your energy will be evenly dispersed.
When you die, you will lose your vitality.
Your muscles will be weak and tendons weak and your bones weak and your blood's still too weak.
When you are at peace, the world is peaceful.
When you are fighting, the world is chaotic.
That is why you should use the method of Dao.
When you live a healthy and peaceful life, you will have little trouble with being in a perpetual state of Yin.
When you live a chaotic life, you will have much trouble with being in a perpetual state of Yang.
After your death, when your parents are on their deathbed,
they should hug their children and cherish their life.
When they did not have enough food, they should have some more.

Those who live and let live
Fulfill their lives as simple as possible.
Thus they never grow weary.
Fulfill their lives as completely as they might.
Such purity disappears
And the world turns to sorrow.
Alas! to utter sorrow -
Then will death once more grasp
The root and stalk -
Without end, and hard to be broken.
Thus he who can live for a long time
Shows no signs of decay.
He is always so free,
In what he accomplishes,
That he no one deranges.
He always achieves,
That nothing is neglected.
That is how his existence is glorious.
So even after he has attained his ultimate goal
He honours his life with love as a sacrifice.

Good in motion: Dukes and kings
Are drawn to him
By their being old,
And they show that good action does not need to be telegenic
Or important.
Thus their way
Is always on the wane, and the world is perplexed.
Alas! to be perplexed,
To be things, to be tools, and to live among the dead!
Thus, one goes towards the end of his own life
And can accept a new body
A clean and hearty acceptance,
A fresh peace,
A dish of rice (wu yen),
