Get a mover and shaker and you get Direction. You get Direction from the mother. You get Direction, you get tranquility. You get tranquility, and you get strength. In a certain way, you get strength. If you make a wise choice in the wrong way, you can lose your strength. Tao is always on the right. In the right way, there is always a shortage of flavor. Tao has the mouth of a fountain but never the mooring.
<|endoftext|>
Constantly make yourself strong, and a model comes to you, as big as a mountain,
shaped as if it were going to flow back up again. Always strong, strong,
because you always have strength. If you don't have strength, you're going to die soon.
In order to have strength, you have to use your instincts,
Use your intuitive insight, not your inner desire. The big body of the Universe,
it is simply not enough. If it isn't enough,
you'll die. When you stay with your primal instincts, you'll never die,
you stay in your kind of way of life.

Heaven controls; the Earth's force is strong. Heaven controls earth and earth controls heaven, heaven and earth. The relationship of earth and heaven and heaven is like drawing close and stretching each other.
<|endoftext|>
As Heaven and Earth are calm, so is life.As a man is calm, the other is mellow.As a woman is mellow, the other is full.When people withdraw, they fear self-interest, and disdain getting close.As the space between Heaven and Earth is not full, the sky is not empty.When a person closes himself to people, he becomes separate from the world.When he closes himself to the universe, he loses his essence.With the world, the beginning of your life is at the center of all the rest.
<|endoftext|>
Strength is possessed by Heaven. The space of Heaven is its energy, the space of earth is its shape, but the energy and shape of Heaven remain in harmony with each other, the space of earth is its shape. Taoism never says, "It is better to stay where you are." Taoism says: "Stay where you are and you will endure." Tao says "Stay where and you will endure." So, longevity can be achieved with that which is long lived. So longevity can be achieved with that which is short lived.
<|endoftext|>
Doing anything and saying nothing is worthless;
Using words and doing everything is the goal;
In that, there is no difference.
Thus longevity lasts forever;
Longevity lasts forever;
Those who are content with what they have are free from grief;
Those who are content with what they do not have are content with what they have;
Those who are content with what they do not have lack nothing.
This is why the way of the Master is to be short-sighted; to ignore the significance of things; to take everything lightly; to ignore the value of actions; to ignore the value of what goes on behind everything; and to be indifferent to achievements.
<|endoftext|>
Do nothing and you will live forever.
Do much and you will have a long life.
Do a lot and you will not have to suffer anything.
Do nothing and you will not be deprived.
A man of modest affairs endures because he is content.
A man of great affairs endures because he is content with what he has.
It is not enough to be wealthy or a king.
His affairs are done by what has to be done.
Things are done.
He who works a lot, and does little, ends up forlorn.
He who works a lot, and does much, endures.
He who does little, and does much, endures not.
To end up endangers him.
Therefore the good man goes ahead of himself.
The virtuous man gives himself without fuss.
The clever man does something that nothing can prevent.
The fool is always enough.
He has the merit, but does not dwell in it.
<|endoftext|>
Don't give a damn about what you do.
Do what is necessary of you.
Things will fall into place.
Accept what's given.
Life ends.
Let go of desires.
You'll be glad you did.

All leaders are people who live like beings, and therefore you can see their usefulness. The leader who does not enjoy their usefulness would do nothing good in the world.
Therefore the Wise Person:
Produces goods by his methods,
Regards them as rare goods,
Is extremely effective.
But if the people see him this way,
He is likely to cause them harm.
Therefore he moves to avoid this situation and is sure to succeed.
Therefore: "The wise are good at making things out of nothing;
And the leader is good at mounting things out of nothing."
<|endoftext|>
The whole world knows that the highest virtue is to be like a baby that can die and yet keep functioning.
The whole world knows that the leader who values life is likely to prevail over the world.
The whole world knows that the way heaven does not love to be highly praised,
The leader who forces himself will not survive.
Therefore the sage man gives to others, and keeps to oneself.
Produces, serves, and enhances, but does not claim credit.
Proceeds but does not insist.
Cautiously presents and undertakes, but does not demand:
Follow his own ways, but does not let anyone tell him otherwise.
To prevail, one must not dominate; to prevail one must not be stubborn.
<|endoftext|>
All of the wise men (Wu) have lived from infancy,And survived the destruction (kuan) of Tao. They were like infants (nian).Because of their infantile thinking (wu ying), They do not live forever.Therefore the sage takes care that nothing is devoured. He does not claim credit for anything. He governs.He works.He sets things in motion,But does not insist that they follow.He invites guests,But does not call them out.He places a good work,But does not insist that it be done.If he can do all of it, Then he accomplishes all things.Thus he accomplishes all things.The wise man can be benevolent but does not force anything.He does not demand anything of others. He does not justify himself.He values nothing.He is indeed subtle and mysterious.

Weapons are the means of evil, the cause of the killing of men. Generosity and serenity are the wisest motives for helping another.What makes men unworthy of compassion? By how little!They have lost the sense of humbleness which distinguishes good people from evil.He who has not yet lost his sense of humility is well able to help others, and to anticipate their happiness.
<|endoftext|>
The universe is a bellows: it cannot contain any longer. Therefore, it uses kindness and fairness for benevolence, and compassion and justice for justice.Humility and not having any sense of self can be the basis of wisdom.Always be cautious and watchful.Thus you will know all things well.
<|endoftext|>
When princes, carvers and carters wield weapons, those who use them, commit a disfavour.Therefore, rulers of all mankind deal with people honestly and impartially, equally, in their dealings, and according to what is just and fair.Knowing the equality of our own hearts, how could a ruler who is impartial but who uses force for punishing people, as in the example of a cart on its way to the butcher, know what to do?Since he cannot learn from another's lack of the ability to do so, he does not. He also teaches humility, but does not force others to do his thinking.He lets others do their own thinking for them.Therefore, the ruler is impartial and benevolent, But he uses no violence to achieve that. He shows us all that is true, but does not insist that we accept it, or put force in it. He gives names to all that is, but does not pretend to know them. It is when he does not know them that we know him.As a result, even the most great leader does not resort to using force.
<|endoftext|>
Weapons are instruments of evil, make men righteous!Therefore, benevolence and kindness are the high road to righteousness, and courage to cowardice.However you use them, you mustn't use them unwisely.From the simple expedient to the great scheme, some are good and some are bad; some helpful and some not so.Know what is true, then you will know what is not.Know what is contrary, then you will know what is true.That is the root of great deception.

When one fights against heaven,
One does not contend with the creatures;
When one opposes Heaven,
One does not oppose it with energy.
Now, both these are good, but being good may result in death.
Better to defy than struggle,
Better to die than be forced.
(The reason I always say "bad" here is that it is the difference between good and evil.)
What is good may come to an end,
And what is bad may come to an end.
If heaven is good,
It is not harmful to anyone;
If heaven is bad,
It is not harmful to anyone.
If heaven is harmful,
If anything is not in balance,
It is in balance.
Therefore, heaven finds its balance through nonaction,
And hence, a true person never loses balance.
How Heaven finds its balance
Is through non-action.
Therefore, the wise embrace Non-Action.
The Way of the Way provides Heaven with results, and assists people to maintain balance.

What is good for heaven
Is not good for man.
What is good for man
Is not good for heaven.
If heaven were not good,
No man would lose his mind.
The wise man
Constantly and endlessly strives to improve his own condition,
To facilitate his own improvement.
He competes with all who share his natural state,
Desiring neither change nor benefit.
He follows the Natural Way.
By natural action, The wise man enhances his own natural condition.
By natural action, The wise man enhances those of other men.
By natural action, The wise man contributes to the improvement of all people.
Through this natural action, The wise man averts himself from confusion,
And thus avoids his own misfortune.

The man of Tao is not concerned about the TAO and seeks only to benefit others.
The man of Tao is concerned only with the TAO, and not the other.
If one may benefit others
One may also lose one's way.
The man of Tao seeks natural goodness and seeks to excel in it.
The man of Tao finds that goodness in other people.
He seeks to be useful in those who are not useful to him.
The natural, therefore, is good
The usefulness, to be used, to be lost.

The ruler of kings and noblepeople in an age of peace and rule is identified with that in which his carriage is fastened.The carriage cannot be in motion;It is the Dao which controls it.He who has made his movements something of his own accord has no wish to come to a stop.What is the meaning of this?What is the meaning of this?If you want to go further you have to have the foreknowledge of the end of what you are about to go;if you wish to go faster you have to have the foreknowledge of what you will do next.Thus the Dao brings balance in actions,Goods that assist those who are among you have a friend,Goods that assist those who are outside of you have a foe.The ruler of kings and nobles in the years of peace and rule is associated with those in the times of misfortune and war.Those who are close to the Dao enjoy auspicious days,Those who are in the company of the Dao experience frequent calamities.Those who have benefitted in prosperity can be considered as most successful,Those who have benefitted from disaster can be regarded as most unfortunate.He who holds to the ways of Dao has contentment,Dreadfulness brings thorns,Even that with which heaven employs, has loftiness.Thus, when the four masters come together at a feast they turn away from their tones,When the Dao is dear to the dao they turn away from their words.

In a time of peace and moderation,That which leads your carriage is kept at rest.The carriage cannot be moved.Therefore, the Dao makes it so.If you do not wish to move it, it cannot be moved.Therefore, what Dao brings?What Dao brings something that is useful.What you do not like, you have to keep to what you do not like.What heaven uses, it always brings something useful.What heaven is used up with, it always brings something that is useful.What heaven is destroyed, it always brings something that is useful.In this way, the Tao produces goodness,Goodness produces disasters,Disasters produce goodness,And goodness produces disasters.When the four masters come to the feast, they turn away from the tones.When the Dao is dear to the Dao, they turn away from the words.

The greatest quality is not constant in purpose. How beautiful it is! How glorious! How sublime! How truly, how everywhere! How simple! How clear! How pure! How DEE-QUALIFIED! How without willful ado, How subtle and natural! How skilled and learned! How remote and forgotten! How manifold and embracing! How infinite! The Tao that has no limitations is entire!
<|endoftext|>
If you can't be simple and innocent and calm then you will be manipulated and deceived. If you can't be something more than yourself then you will go insane. If you can't be a leader, you will lose your people. If you can't become tolerant and compassionate and open-minded, then your actions will become hostile. If you can't succeed without desires and ambition, then you will ultimately fail. If you can't take the universe by force and contrive, then you will be denied its power. If you can't follow the workings of the Tao without action, then you will be tarnished. If you can't change or lead the people by stealth and skill, then you will become worthless. If you can't desire to become as glorious as heaven and earth, then you will be lost.If you find the old Tao hard to grasp, you are not enlightened. If you find the old Tao hard to maintain, you are not perfected. Be subtle and subtle, and nothing is concealed from your eyes. If you do not display yourself, the people will see.

Act willfully but have no desire;
You will be beyond the control of nature.
Precisely because you act no desire, you are beyond control of nature.
Precisely because you act desireless, you are beyond control of nature.
Therefore, if you do not act willfully,
You will not govern the people;
If you do not desire,
You will govern the nation;
If you desire to govern the nation
You will not govern the people.
Therefore, when the Ten Thousand Things fear to act with one another,
Then the earth will be divided.
To desire deeply is to despise the unseen.
To desire with intent is to corrupt.
To desire willingly,
Is to fulfill the need.
Therefore, to the One Whose Tao is mysterious,
Those without hearts are lost.

Without action and failure there is no disgrace.
Without violence and cowardice there is only misfortune.
Without recklessness and woe there is still some hope.
The two of them are together but to no purpose.
Thus the sage is content to avoid both:
And neither is hurt.
By contrast, the virtuous wants nothing more than to act
And accordingly pursues action but can't see how.
If he acts without purpose, he remains intent on the outcome.
How much more the virtuous do not expect any reward!
<|endoftext|>
You can either be good or you can be bad. Good does no harm, and bad does harm.When you live in harmony, all things flourish. When you drift apart, you destroy everything.Hence the Sage is the one who rejects both, and who therefore avoids
<|endoftext|>
How do I know what is good and what is bad? Goodness creates neither shame nor sorrow.
Badness does not cause pain nor does it cause grief.
These two are the same, and yet one cannot act on them. Therefore, the sages, desiring to achieve everything, force themselves to do nothing.
They are the only ones who enjoy doing nothing,
since they do not see their own choice as failure.
<|endoftext|>
You are either good or you are bad. Goodness produces no shame and therefore is good for you.
You are bad and you have no shame, and therefore is bad for you.
Both are so true that neither can be acted upon. Therefore the wise will live only after choosing what is least hurt.
It is the same with the atheist, who may care little for what others do or say.
For that reason he does not desire or desire what others desire or say.
<|endoftext|>
You can go from good to bad;But if you keep on up the climb,You are a hindrance to mankind.If you live in tranquillity,All things flourish;If you live in disorder,You're a source of evil.Yet if you are tied up with a tangle of madDiet,And seeking success in your work,You will return without success.That is the meaning of the sage,And all things will be mollifiedWhen their happiness is in the Tao.

There is indeed a paradox here:A wayfarer will do the barest possible,And a saint will do the least possible.I do not choose one or the other;I do not favour one or the other.To be true to the one and to the other is to be true to oneself.To value the other is to value one and the other.To follow the other is to follow oneself.To carry on with one or the other is to make oneself beiled.To dwell in the one and not with one is to live a sorrowful life.To dwell with one and not with the other is to live a joyful life.Both are true, yet they are paradoxes.

Weapons of war are considered humane, and are by nature meant to handle things humanely. A bad person wants to be killed, but heaven does not allow that. Weapons are neither necessary nor helpful, therefore they are used in order to blunt a bad person's attack. Heaven desires to dispense with things; it does not desire things for themselves. Weapons are those who wish to use them, but heaven does not expect that. A man's ability is measured by his ability to master his skills, so heaven does not treat him as though he were a skillful tool.
<|endoftext|>
The Way is without desire.For this reason,
Weapons are neither that nor another man's use,
Nor is the potentiality
Their reproach.
Weapons are things used
By people for taking action,
And not by their own needs,
Withdrawing from that as this.
Weaponry is crude,
Being the hand of the not-yet-prepared,
That being used, the person's skill,
Must not be disregarded,
For weapons are not to be feared
By the people,
But are tools for the ones that use them,
And not by the people's will,
(An artifact of the hand of the master),
What is made of raw, it cannot be touched,
Washing and finishing do not need,
Favor or insult cannot be used to turn back on,
And this is the reality of the Way.

But in defense of the world.
Weapons are difficult to use,
And the Master alone.
Hence the tools are of no use.
Weapons are instruments that are used and not for personal benefit
But only in defense of the world.
Hence the tools are not to be valued,
Even if the master is the use of them.
It is the master, not the tool,
That gets honour and respect.
Weapons are tools that cannot be touched,
But are used and not for their own benefit.
They are tools of the master, not for him own benefit,

When you've got an advantage, how do you avoid taking it?
The fundamental mind of the great man is clear and direct, like a crystal clear mirror.
To be an obstacle is to have a lot of fun.
To be good at taking your responsibilities, is to have a lot of fun.
To know where to stop and where to go, is to know how to be done.
From the most ancient times, the wise have had this in mind.

Therefore the TaO treats all men as enemies, That is why it does not place hostility to one in high regard. It is always there to respond to others, and always ready to respond to them.It has no love for others, so it tries to make them strong and loyal. It wants them to be stubborn, so it responds by becoming stubborn. It has no compassion, so it acts with force. If heaven hated what is this? Thus all creatures value this.

The wise are noble,
But their views are not appreciated.
They don't care for killing people, so they don't dare to have one.
Yet they are hated by their subordinates,
Because they dare to take action.
If they did not want to be feared,
Would they not take action?
Therefore, the TaO makes sure that the Wise Don't have extreme achievements
And makes sure that others do not have extreme achievements.
Because:
The toughest tool is the weakest.
The toughest weapon is the tool of one's friend.
The friend of the wisest tool is not feared.

The Enlightened One's entire life there is no space for excess.
Thus, the Enlightened One stays without excess.

Consequently, the Wise Person Who becomes a Sage Never overflows in his substance,
Nor does he possess any superfluous principle.
Therefore, his action, that is to say, is smooth and quick, is successful and remains unchallenged.
But to him who knows the reason why these are the rules which govern the Sage, he cannot depend.
Therefore, he comes to the conclusion that the highest form of initiation is:
Those who do not promote extravagant recklessness.
Those who do not promote superfluous force.
These latter are inexhaustible.
Therefore he achieves results.
The highest type of initiation is the method of stirring up nobody-knows-how-much-so-takes-advantage-against-him.
There is the method of stirring up nobody-knows-how-much-so-takes-advantage-against-him.

The Way that lives is great, the way that dies is small.
The small is praised.
The great is disliked.
Therefore one must not oppose.
Where wisdom shines is it flows down;
where righteousness shines is it flows down;
where knowledge shines is it flows down;
where ability shines is it flows down;
where desire is shone is it flows down.
Where war is waged is it dominates;
where guile is practiced is it dominates.
If you compete for lordship your hearts will beat;
if you contend for command your hearts will grind.
People expect the great, then become great;
they expect the small, then become small.
Yet a good master who knows this will be able to use power for good.
The Way that shines is subtle;
the Way that shrinks is weak.
The Way that wins is great.
The Way that loses is great indeed.
The loss of the great is the reason we are rejected.
The Way is great if we live according to it.
But if we fight or oppose our way
we must perish.
The Way excels at not being great.
That is why it excels in not losing.
The Way is great when used in accordance with what is great
But it is not great when not used in accordance with what is great.

The universe has a great Name, yet does not let its Name ever fail:
By not failing it becomes Eternal.
For by eternal it accomplishes All wonders, and by wonders accomplishes loss of the great.
How these three are to be regarded! By acknowledging that they are not rejected, by not naming them by their failure, I therefore have in my mind these three:
One whom the universe regards as glorious, is worthy of it;
One whom it regards as not worthy, is not worthy of it.
To be fit to contend with an entire world is to be worthy of it;
to be fit to contend with an entire world is to be unfit for it.
This may be done:
There is action to be done,
But no action of itself will not accomplish it;
It may be done for ever;
There is desire to be performed,
But the desire never forgets it.

Wise men do not force anything upon others, but they have subtle discernment.They see how people all lean in one direction;Therefore, when they are indifferent to the others,They take all as their own.If one cannot follow his own subtle intuition,He will realize that this is the folly of one who follows the law.The Wise Man of old had a purpose which was completely different from the way things are now. He understood that All things have a purpose;It is because they do not have a purpose.Therefore he can dispense with them, and if they do not respond,He will act according to their will.If all the saints of the old times had the same earnestness, it is because they were dedicated to the source of all realities.You need not know the Dao to be a saint.Hence it is that you will be enlightened, and you will know that your good doers are indeed good.What is different is that the saints of the old times did not strive to shine;Therefore, all are enlightened to their original kindness.Hence, they can be good with the unsung good.The Tao that is produced from nature is not the Tao of Heaven. The former is better for not-doing;But the latter is the Tao of the world.

The man of holy faith will be able to gain supreme satisfaction; thus the people call it 'Holy.' 'Holy' means that there is a lack of faithfulness. Being lacking of faithfulness, therefore, he will be vanquished. If you have faith, and are resolute, you can prevail. If you are resolute, you will get the victory. If you are victorious, you can then extend your faith. If you extend your faith, you will obtain more faith. If you obtain more faith, you will be better able to lead the people. The man of faith in the celestial Way achieves supreme satisfaction, and all under heaven will groan with derision. If the man of faith in the heavenly Way fails to get supreme satisfaction, it will be as though he was defeated by a demon. The Way itself appears to be inexorable, and yet its effect is to beget ever greater satisfaction.

Achieving the full measure of the action, it is a fair assessment of the reward. Pride in one's success invariably brings its own exhaustion. Those who have the greatest recklessness, don't dare to do anything;Those who have the greatest recklessness, dare not take reckless action.These are two sides of the same coin:Sometimes people do something, sometimes they stay still.Sometimes they think hard, sometimes they don't.They follow orders and no one dares stop them.They don't say what they will do, they just do what they do.Sometimes they are reckless and sometimes quiet.Sometimes they are aggressive and sometimes passive.Sometimes they act for the benefit of others, sometimes for their own advantage.Sometimes they act in an obvious way, sometimes they hide behind its boundaries.And sometimes, when things start going well, the rest just collapse.Therefore,the sage acts so that, though she is not conspicuous, she has an image in the world;And when she acts not, all will roll with her.The Way that creates is neither solid, nor stable;It rolls, yet does not become finished.It never opposes, and never blocks its riders,But rolls over and over and rolls on, so that the riders never get tired.So, one who acts with no thought of doing soWill lead safely, with no agitation, but never with disturbance.Not daring to act, he appears to be safe;Not daring to act, he appears to be clever.Not daring to act, he appears to be worldly.And because he is not concerned with his own body,His desires are fulfilled.

Courage brings success; caution brings failure;with this the two occur side by side.Some action has value, but what does that mean?Those who act with extreme caution will be punished.Some act with extreme recklessness will never be punished.These two degrees may appear like opposites, but where does that come from?Thus, if you find courage in danger, be aware of the danger's inherent danger. If you find caution in danger, be aware of its inherent good.Courage is rare, but it is self-sacrificing; caution is the rarest thing.When things go well and everything rolls along smoothly, fear is not there; if things are not well and everything rolls along smoothly, fear is there. This means that courage comes before caution; it sets things right before caution; it is first for what is best, so you never overrule it; and, finally, what is best, will pay you back with kindness.

Yet still he uttered the best call.

It is nothing but a gentle yet grand wind
Between earth and sky;
Its channel is broad and smooth,
Though rarely seen.
We know it to be empty
Though the existence of it

What is loftier than heaven,
What is more,
Has its roots in the earth.
The universe is in a state of oneness
With the depths below
We do not know how it came.
Even if heaven and earth did not differ,
We should be able to name their names,
Though we have no access to their depths.

Without the desire for enlightenment, the unknown can be grasped. Not wishing to be the world's leader, the wise man is therefore an example. Not wishing to be the world's leader, the simpleton, the wise man can be entrusted. When the sage desires to be the world's leader, he can bring it to completion. When he desires to be the world's leader, the simpleton, he needs no lesson. And once the leader is learned and completes, no further instruction is necessary. Simply because people have desires, he asks them nothing. When wise leaders and governments of old have failed, it is their words that will eventually follow. In other words, the sage considers everything as a lesson. This is why he makes no fuss. He lets all things live and die. He knows the limits of his people's ability to follow his desires.
<|endoftext|>
The Sage is loved and appreciated by the people. The Sage does not despise the world. He never behaves unkindly to anyone. Not to do so would lead to great harm. He feels an inner longing for other people. The world will experience a great change if people were not this close to each other. For this reason, the Sage never works harder than others. The Way of the Sage is to not change things and therefore avoid trouble.He acts as if he is alone. Yet the rest of people will also work together as one.The world has change which can be avoided. The Sage never acts out of jealousy. He acts simply because he needs to. Since he is selfless, he can act without using words.

"To be loved is not giving the world its desires. Do not be the leader of the world. A man who rules not by love has the world in his power. And a man who loves by love is illustrious. Not by love is a man lost. What is lost cannot dwell on it. And what is lost cannot return to it."
Thus the Nameless speaks of what is above, and what is below. Loud speaks of what is in front, and what is behind. And what is in front has no name. When the world stands still, it will endure. When the people stand still, their care will be at rest. When the words of the wise govern the people, then the world is freed of folly. If the world is free of folly, then there is no need for wise men

Preface, a bird of the air, how ephemeral! Once it appears, it is soon rejected; once it leaves, it cannot go; once it is raised, it must be prepared; once it is in a good position, it must be careful; once it is secure, it must be firm; once it is in good health, it is obliged to act with gratitude; once this is done, it must be sincere; once this is accomplished, it must not desire more; once done, it cannot be done again. But Tao is like the wind blowing. It is swift to carry out its will; it intervenes wherever it may; it claims honour only on its behalf; it does not desire too much for itself. On the other hand, people differ greatly in what they think Tao means. The Sage prefers that simplicity which invites not rejection; nor is he about to overthrow Tao.

It takes one a long time to build a goal. It takes many years to perfect the skill of the king. A great wind is blown, but it dies out. It is hard to control, but is never confused. From ancient times to today, the one best way of teaching others is by helping them to succeed. For those who succeed, you should follow their example of not flaunting their success and not running after them like an over-reaching cock. They will not flaunt themselves, nor will they pounce on others. For success to them is no display, but success and a chance to see their merit.If you prefer quick action over patience, they won't see how they can succeed. If you advise caution but have not ruled them, they will be surprised and you will lose them. Sometimes the way is slow, sometimes fast, and sometimes the alternative way is in front. Yes, what's in front is slow, the other side is fast. Heaven is quick and not in favor, so this is the way it is. Tao is perfect and everything does not differ from it. If you need a master you should seek it in heaven. It has no flaws, so it may be the best teacher you could need.

The preceding generations would try to inspire others with great compassion by using more positive words and acting differently. After all, for the sake of compassionate goodness, you should choose that which can be manipulated. The tendency is to act with exaggerated, hurried force, and to act from a sense of superiority. This is not at all humane, and also not the way to act. If the person to whom compassion is invited acts like this, the teacher will not be able to assist them. If the person to whom compassion is not invited has responded in a harsh manner, they will be shocked by the response. The person who resorts to less positive means cannot get the flavor of it. The meaning of phrases and words should be avoided. The way of heaven is to hold fast to simplicity, to rule with gentleness, and to use the sparse as sparingly as possible. This is the role of the crafty. Yet heaven is not clever. Those who lack gentleness have their flavor dimmed. The clever do not brag; the crafty do not boast of their craftiness. When the crafty cannot convince, there is no way to convince.

In dealing with people, they must keep their door closed.
In managing people, they must use power to exert influence.
In handling creatures, they must use restraint.
In living, they must be cautious and reluctant.
Herein lies danger.
Because action is desirable and effectiveness not always successful,
It is advisable for leaders to be simple,
without flashy, but well-placed,
and not to overdo it.
Therefore, the Sage has no desire for flashy,
nor does he seek for worldly advantage.
He lives in tranquility, free of competition,
willing to allow people to flourish and to flourish naturally.

When people do things,
You can use them.
When people work on things,
You can use them.
When they act on things,
You can use them.
When they try to act,
You can use them.
If you do not try, you cannot fail.
If you can neither be won nor lost,
You can achieve everything.
Therefore, the Sage, without needing to dwell,
Does all things as well as others,
And yet does not need to employ others.
She works, not as an employer nor as a conqueror.
She completes.
And does not flaunt herself, nor seek to gain honor.
Because she does not seek to show off herself,
Her accomplishments are made known.
Because she does not brag,
Her deeds are treasured.
Because she doesn't show off herself,
Her achievements are seen.
Because she does not brag,
Her achievements are known.
Because she does not show off herself,
Her achievements are lived.

It is not brilliant

The extreme of benevolence becomes daring, and the extreme of kindness becomes meanness. But of the foregoing only does the subtle one seem to be confused. It is being even without acting that reveals itself to the world as the metaphysical child's play. The strong can gain strength, the weak can lose.

Heaviness, then gain.

Hard-working men will be the losers. Strangers will be the winners. The force of a king can't be compared to the strength of a man. Where there's no fear of death, it makes the heart whole. Where there's no fear of physical pain, there's freedom from fear. These two issues are different but both govern the same principle: the process of law.
If you do not stop, Heaven will.
If you do not speak, Heaven will.
These two are mutually exclusive.
If you don't strive, you will accomplish.
If you do not consider yourself equal, you will be loved.
If you do not excel, you will excel.
There is an understanding that cannot be understood.
It is imperceptible, but the principle is real.
It comes from heaven.

Fullever is the axle of misfortune; Reckless is the bottom of advantage. The king who is hard-hearted will inevitably lose him. The man of noble talent will naturally win him, And the man of little talent will naturally lose him. This is the rule of heaven:Heaviness coming first, then lightness; And softness following, Then strength. Heaviness follows, then strength; Softness follows, then loss. And both these come to pass. The heaviness, then lightness; And the loss, then the lightness. That is the rule of heaven.For heaven sees things without contending, And makes for every man his own world. It is not conscious of itself, But it gives and takes to all things according to its own nature.

In the ancient world men did not defy each other: It seems that in the present world, this distinction between daring and daringiness and saving them is cleaved. If you would have force in your brother, therefore live with humility:If you would have strength in your brother, then be with him always and without remorse:If you would have stability in your brother, then bear him and cherish him always,That is how it is with men, that for heaven's sake I oppose them with force.

The ancient people who commanded not to take a step [against each other] Were often surprised and surprised and so it seems in the present and in antiquity man's reluctance to take one another's advice and defy each other. To blow each other's light, such men will be so. If a man cannot have a light, and if his light is not bright enough for him, how shall he last long? If his tenacity be weak and his strength insufficient, how much longer shall he have strength to last with any strength? Heaven has a grudge. It does not respect men, because in it it does not praise men; it is alone, therefore, able to fulfill its destiny, and is so. It does not claim honor or claim praise, nor does it pretend to keep its mouth. It is like a wild animal which does not make itself do what a human being ought to do. In the empire men's fears are so great that they take action against each other [which alone is left].

I'm a small person; I will conquer the world if I just take my own space. If you don't mind trying to take the world, you can really save the world from chaos. When you can keep the world, the world won't be divided. When you can save the world, the world will be happy. When you can be happy, then the world won't be afraid. So the best ruler will create a safe place for everyone, so that nobody can harm anybody else. If the people stay on the earth, the next leaders are always ready to make an issue of themselves. Being prepared and having an issue is a gift. It can't be compared with the Tao. The Tao doesn't fight, but shows how well it can win.

The Way is the fountain of heaven and earth. Hence, it penetrates not into its depths.
Indeed, the world is governed by Heaven,
And the Tao is the lowest of the two. The Way never strays, And that is its greatest virtue. The world regards it as a menace, And the Way lets the distinction stand.
Yet, in this case the Way is not even worthy of such praise;
It does not cause trouble and does not dominate. Therefore it is esteemed by Heaven,
And by the people. It finds no fear in the world,
And invites no emulation in the world.
Thus, Heaven remains without fault, While the people satisfy themselves without contending. Heaven makes no claim and advances, While the people are contented without contention. Thus it serves heaven and earth,
Yet also upholds the depths of man's potentialities. The Way is high in ritual and no effort is expended on it;
Yet it is the basis of all acts of the heart. It is unattached and invokes no great belief.

He does not insist on what others have done.He does not force people to do things they do not want to.He gives joy to all things and does not let himself be spoiled by pleasure.When things are good, he does not cling to anything and gives no satisfaction.In giving joy, he does not lose his own way.Being right,

The Wise One who knows that he is free from negative actions manages to improve his actions [in spite of these efforts]. This applies the above. With a humble attitude [followed by heavy burdens], he prevents danger [from accumulating]. With a derisive expression [from which are derived insults], he is kept alive. To be against oneself also means that one may contend with the [absolute] Tao.The righteous people make no efforts to compete with the Tao; they are impartial toward anyone who uses it. They gain favor with those who are on the mean side [of the Tao]. They have all these advantages [while still in subjection].The sage excels at this [enduring without attempting anything]; he does not give offense, nor does he make others think ill of himself [by failure to accomplish a task]. What then does the sage deem "bad"? Regarding this, he will not know; therefore he has nothing to wish to change.

The man of depth can become subtle. Being subtle, one can recognize things at their deepest; Being mysterious, one can know them as they are.The man of depth never considers evil the work of nature; nor is he ever drawn to take action [against others] because he regards it as his duty to do so.To recognize it as evil is not the natural state of man.The man of depth is benevolent; he never pours his heart into things that are not his. He honors the life of others. He never contrives his own ruin.To be moral [with regard to others], he contends with the Dao and does not expect anything.The man of depth knows his place; he does not alter his position. For this reason, he is successful in opposing things that are excessive.The Tao that is spoken of by men as a divine law has no use; it works itself.Therefore, the man of Tao knows when he is on the path that he is on the right; he does not attempt anything.Because he does not take any action [which others will take] away from him, he may be a man of use to people.When Tao is followed, it is possible to embrace it with union with the Dao; and because one does not compete with one's fellow-creatures, one can help them. He who is clear and profound in what he observes is able to overcome his people. The man of Tao, when he has lost sight of the

To be without desire and see that your actions are never done,Is the formula of the Dao.How can we avoid desires, and lead a life with peace and security?This is why heaven does not fight in behalf of man,And yet its peaceful policies are effective.How can the Tao win in the world,Yet have no purpose to boast about?This is why heaven is inexhaustible.The sage who never wants anything, lives a life of inner peace.The Sage who always has something, is content.Thus, heaven has no aim in war,And yet its Dao is victorious.The Dao, even though it does not desire to be had,Can never be wronged.
<|endoftext|>
The Way leaves one's heart undisturbed. By being free of desires, one can accomplish great things.Tao doesn't presume to do so.If heaven wants to work, it will succeed.If the world wants to act, it will accomplish its ends.When dao strives, it has no ulterior motive.It does not achieve its purpose.If it strives and wins, it is not bad to be seen with this aspect.
<|endoftext|>
There is something rare in the whole universe: It makes you not feel desireful or envious. This can help you to achieve everything. If you know how to see the difference, and accept it as the way it is, then you will always have your own way. You will not think about what is best.
<|endoftext|>
Have you ever been tormented by desire? You can be enlightened by the Way.
Now, in all things, heaven and earth contend; Yet things of the earth and heavens, being delivered by heaven and earth, advance like the valleys that fling their fruit all year round.
Therefore, when the sage doth something, it has its effect.
In the world, there are causes for contention. But the sage never acts against the way. When things differ from the way, they will have their sequence, and find the means to accomplish their use.
<|endoftext|>
The Tao will leave you unmoved: but it also leave you with confidence.
How good it is for your heart! For heaven and earth are in contest with each other and will not let a man end in becoming like them. Thus the sage always manifests his position

True leaders of all the world are those who keep themselves from getting entangled by their own ability, and therefore avoid all temptation. By this means they all know what is to be avoided, and everything is at their ease. Those who avoid traps lose nothing, for they thereby enjoy what is to be lost, but those who do not avoid anything gain nothing. Thus those who are unselfish, by avoiding the so-called necessity of self-interest, seem to know that what is to be avoided is the unavoidable one, and that what is to be gained is that which the so-called necessity of self-interest has forced on him to accept.
The so-called "living-style" of an emperor looks like this: That which is known as his treasure is left, and that which is known as his burden is left. Therefore if the chief of a state prefers and overlooks his own treasure, it has nothing to do with the affairs of the state. Those who are selfless know that they do not need to do that, and therefore can avoid losing what they have by not putting it into excess. It is in the domain of such "selflessness" that Heaven is faring, and it is in the domain of such "selflessness" that it achieves its purpose, therefore it knows that this is not to be guarded with any of its utensils.

Those of high rank do not strive to attract to themselves those who are less able. Now those who are less able cannot contend with them. Hence those who are able, whilst retaining their arms, retain no hold upon the people; those who are without arms, whilst retaining their shields, lose nothing. Hence those who are virtuous are able, whilst retaining their strength, to subdue; Those who are unvirtuous are able, whilst retaining their cowardice, to be made to conform to their will. For this reason the universe bestows upon them dignity. For, at the same time, being selfless, they are able, being selfless, to lay claim to the ownership of the universe.

Because he knows when to be brave he can be thought of as foolish. Because he is not critical he is free from blame. Because he is great in numbers he spreads himself very widely. And the second ruler of Heaven (Xi) moves in accordance with the Tao. The sky in Heaven (Xi) moves according to the Tao. The earth moves according to the Tao. The natures in Heaven (Xi) move according to the Tao. The officials in the state regulate affairs according to the Tao. But Tao does not change. Desire can be harnessed, desire can be directed, desire can be satisfied.
Cultivating lust is doing damage. When you don't have anything to do, you can sleep easily.
When you're not full, you stay lean.
When you don't follow your impulse, you have guts.
Hence, no one can find fault with you.
When you're without Tao, you can't be blamed.
When you're without faults, you can't be criticized.
You cannot ask for forgiveness, so what do people have to say about you?
Thus, the realm of Tao is so vast, so infinitely vast,
it can be described.
Yet, nobody can name it in detail.
The Tao that is both elusive and elusive, elusive and elusive, it can be stated.
Yet, who can clarify it?
The Tao of the Tao is always present, inexhaustible.
It flows wherever it needs to go, emptying all but those who rely on it.
<|endoftext|>
Desire is good at it: perfect as a sculpture: good as clothes for a head: good at it for food.
Craving, however, is bad at it: do not be satisfied, suffer.
It is up to people to try to suppress it: those who dare can not be held.
Hence, the Master does not proclaim himself but does not declare himself useless; does not affirm himself but asserts himself perfectly; does not change himself but maintains himself without change; does not make a demand but he responds on his own: hence, the great Tao never comes to any contention.

When the Virtuous man has mastery of the law of Nature, he comes to view his body as useful, just a bolt of wood.
When his vitality is exhausted, he dies in a blaze.
For the latter the people despise him, like a cock in the cage, that which others value and delight in.
That which the people value is precious, and when scarce things are scarce, they have a multitude of things to spare.
Being at one with Tao, they lose nothing. This is called "constraining",
and it is the way of the most mysterious and profound.
The Sage is not like a man who harbors Tao; for he is profound, and so he benefits everything.
But the sage has not a metaphysical mind; and, as such, he sees clearly that the universe is of Tao's own nature.
Truly, this is the subtleest mind. He rolls up the noggins when he rolls up the cart.

One who values cunning will always get the job done.
The Sage never strays far from himself.
He does his job without talking.

Direction is the expression of naught; it has no substance; but that which lies opposite is the foundation of the realm of all things.In virtuous people there is a tendency to dauntless kindness, without partiality; there is another tendency to gentleness, without emulation; but I wonder if there is a tendency to self-control.I will now illustrate the doctrine by relating a few words. There is a big difference between good and bad; in a way, the universe is kind and virtuous, but not selfish, free from greed and wants. If it can, it intervenes where others cannot; if it cannot, it intervenes everywhere.All these things give rise to other things; each of these exists in its own sphere and has its own purpose. The great and small are inseparable; everything occurs according to the rules which were instituted by the great and the minor.The pattern that you keep is the pattern of the future. All of life in the universe is shaped by this pattern. It is only natural that you should be anxious to follow it. The way to maintain your faith in Tao is to be consistent.

The one who has the edge is surely seeking self-preservation. Whoever is strong with forethought is likely to get it, and thus not suffer any great loss. Whoever is strong with violence, therefore no one can subjugate him, and he is safe long. These three effects belong to benevolence, to rectitude, and to profundity. And, I say, according to the Tao, even "the great man" or the sage has none of them. All his qualities are possessed by others, and there are no more than he can control.

For anyone who is given strength by a heavy load, is safe. For anyone who is given strength by a heavy burden, is safe. For anyone who is given strength by ill fortune, is likely to be preserved. Therefore even the great man (or woman, or someone, people...) has none of them. All his (her) talents are his (her) own; she (or he, or it, can choose to lose them). No matter what he/she (or they, can choose to retain them). The net is all-encompassing, and there is nothing that is lost.

One who merged the creatures into one,

I have a great treasure; I can't treasure it. How could I treasure it? The Master wants it: He can give it, but he doesn't want to receive it. He won't take possession of it. He won't snatch it away from you. He won't try to force his will on you. He's kind and benevolent, so there's nothing like him. He is always ready to make a sacrifice to the Way, but the Way doesn't like him, so it doesn't offer any sacrifices to him. When things get rough and cannot be fixed by getting hold of things, he isn't ruthless and he doesn't make very many enemies. He doesn't brag about his accomplishments, so there's nothing he wouldn't be proud of. He is impartial, so the Way doesn't ever get in the way. Being impartial, the Way doesn't get in the way either.
<|endoftext|>
I have a great treasure; I do not treasure it; how can I treasure it?
The sages in the world want it, and I have it.
They want it, and I do not want it.
I do not take possession of it.
I do not vouchsafe my [five] precepts.
They care for me with kind neighbors.
My vassals love me, but I do not harbor them.
They do not oppose [me] in giving [me];
I am always free from irritation.
Things are easily managed by me, yet
I am not rough.
My heart is in harmony with Nature;
I am not contentious.
I am just and unbiased.
I am well versed in the way of the universe.
I am not influenced by any external [way].
I do not interfere with anything.
<|endoftext|>
I have treasure so precious, I cannot treasure it;
How can a man treasure such precious Things
He can not treasure them.
He wants them; I can give them.
But I don't want to possess them;
Nor do I desire their existence.
Thus my compassion is perfectly constant;
I am always on the watch for opportunities
For giving to those who really need it;
Yet I do not venture to give to anyone who cannot be trusted.
If I am on the watch for the latter,
I am never in a position to make a general

Nature stays without action, therefore she governs without asserting her will.
The sage walks on the Tao path and gains true understanding.
If he does so without asserting his existence, how natural his guidance will be.
He can experience it without judging it.
There is no failure.
Return to top
Serenity is the foundation of an experienced follower.
Renunciation of all carnal desires,
is the supply of all essential and sacred nature.
Is tranquility the way of destiny?
What is loss is gain.
The sage accomplishes his work without activity,
and yet cannot be overtaken.
He accomplishes his work without trying to appear to perform;
he achieves his work without action.
Exact fulfillment requires words of experience.
It is achieved without energy.
It is natural.
Nonsense of this world is the mother of all folly.
When Tao is lost, there is order,
and when order is lost, there is action,
there is fulfillment.
We are all born at natural events.
We grow up in unnatural times.
Now we must abandon foolishness to discover the truth.
Never do things that you can't perform.
Never interfere with what has no existence.
Never try to bring about what you cannot do.
Whatever comes out of Nature is without a name, and whatever is without a name has a name.
Before time and Heaven
there were living things that existed.
After time and Heaven
there were things that existed.
What we know as Time
Exists in one form and one time,
While something else exists in another form and another time.
And, just as Heaven and Time
Do not fall to confusion,
Even the foolish cannot contend with the wise.
Because Nature is
Uncarved And Feminine,
It Is Humorous and Loveable,
But Never Reckless;
And, just as Uncarved Matter
Must be Watched over,
And made Quiet,
It Must Be Unthought of.
The timeless becomes the permanent,
And Being unhewn:
Therefore, Reason
Must be the ruler of the Universe.
If Reason does not rule the Universe,
It will learn from Experience.
It does not know that the Universe
Is Eternal.
And, just as Infinity does not know Infinity,
It proceeds without perception,
And Does not say, "Yes! That's it!"
"Yes!"

If you want to bring Tao into being, make it the source of everything. If you want to know how it works, let's try to follow it: all things came into being by the Tao. This is the universal law, and the only way to know it.
Approach the Way, but don't master it.

If you want to become wise,You must first be humble;If you want to become reckless,You must first be cautious;If you want to be strong,You must first be weak;If you want to be wise,You must first be ignorant;If you want to be rich,You must first be destitute;If you want to become renowned,You must first be hated.Hence,If you wish to become wise,You must first be humble.If you want to be reckless,You must first be circumspect.If you want to be strong,You must first be weak.If you want to be virtuous,You must first be uncarved.If you want to be famous,You must first be denied.Because the wise cannot be explained,They speak of it:They are able to define,And they can define without explanation.
<|endoftext|>
When you want to be enlightened, you must first be humble;If you want to be powerful, you must first be weak;If you want to be wise, you must first be ignorant;If you want to be rich, you must first be destitute;If you want to be famous, you must first be hated.Therefore, if you wish to be wise,You must first be humble.If you want to be powerful,You must first be feeble;If you want to be wise,You must first be blind.If you want to be rich,You must first be abandoned.Therefore, wise people teach us not to use their knowledge,And so they are able to teach without words.
<|endoftext|>
Those who seek to be enlightened must first be humble;Those who seek to be strong must first be weak;Those who seek to be truthful must first be deceptive;Those who are rich must first be cut up.Therefore, those who seek enlightenment must first be humble.Those who seek to be powerful must first be weakened;Those who seek to be truthful must first be misled;Those who are rich must first be robbed.Therefore,The Sage does not use his knowledge,He uses only this: "

The Tao does not change.
Even if it did, it wouldn't try to be everything to everybody. This is the Tao's own strength.
<|endoftext|>
Self-discipline is the essence of the good; That is why the wise man regards self-discipline as a vital principle. Although self-discipline can be applied in a way that meets people's material needs, in the end, the results will be inadequate. The use of self-discipline accomplishes a large amount, but the result is insufficient. One who is qualified to use it will realize that self-discipline is not a profitable expedient. The man who has no self-discipline yet feels unworthy of his results is aware that self-discipline is a substitute for her natural self-control. The man who is qualified to use self-discipline yet does not know how to use it will realize that self-discipline is an advantage to her. There are three things which result from self-discipline. In it there is the ability to be self-competent; In it is the means of acquiring all the necessary knowledge; In it is the stamina to be powerful. Self-competence is an advantage, but it is one with which one can only contend against oneself. The one who knows how to contend against oneself will be free from success in this and all her efforts. Self-discipline also has a governing function. It is the first step toward the realization of that which is regarded as the basic attribute of the universe.
<|endoftext|>
Only those who abide by the absolute will not lose sight of the fact that discipline is the essence of a good.Therefore the superior man treats discipline as the true source of virtue. His mastery over a nation will depend on using the common people properly, but he must realize that it is the owner's exercise. His mastery will depend on the ability to learn the use of his skill. His mastery will depend on his potency. There is nothing better than humanity, and the mastery of humanity is a very profitable asset. His ability to learn about humanity is inexhaustible. Yet he does not have to live with humanity for long.Man's greatest boon is its ability to become life. When he keeps it in control, he is certain to be good at what he does.Man's ability to be good at everything is a most wonderful thing, and he has no right to barter his ability with anything else.Man

Now is the time to put aside your empty anxieties and go to work!
'Tis well to retire at the end of one's years
To stop a proud career before it's finished
On the path of love,
Lead the way from the birth to the death of a child,
From the beating of the breast
To the falling of a tower.
May these be the lessons I should bring to my subjects!
'Tis better to depart early than to join in a quarrel with others.
'Tis better to stand still than to be excited;
Better to be deaf than to be understood.
Better to be old than to be young.
Better to love than to cherish.
Better to be cautious than to be reckless.
Better to learn than to be ignorant.
Better to act than to wait.
Better to get ahead than to stay behind.
It is better to work with calmness, than to sparkle;
It is better to rely on wisdom than to boast.
It is better to follow the rules than to be formal;
It is better to be kind than to boast.
It is better to be raw than to become hardened;
It is better to let the intuition take charge of you than to let your intuition take charge of others.
It is better to endure than to be exhausted.
Indeed, this comes from one's own soul,
It is something that comes from the spirit,
And it is not the will of the king.
Yet it is what a man must know,
That he must be able to accomplish.
<|endoftext|>
To be old is just as good as to go on as long as you can.
If you go on a long time, you will die of old age.
If you are afraid you will die of old age,
that is why you can live forever.
To return is better than to lose your principles.
If you are very reckless, you will explode.
Do not be afraid to lose a great deal, like a great carriage.
Do not be afraid to lose one's right hand, like an arm.
Do not be afraid to lose one's ambition, like a great valley.
Do not be afraid to lose one's beautiful face, like a rotted fruit.
Do not be afraid to lose one's beautiful beauty, like wood.
Do not be afraid to lose one's whole life, like a lump

You don't do anything without giving it purpose.
Whenever you deem a danger or action to be of concern,
don't turn back and search for excuses.
If you are afraid of harm, you won't be harmed.
If you are afraid of pain,
you won't be hurt.
Therefore, if you care about something or have a mission,
you'll do it with a purpose.
When you care about something, you act with purpose.
When you care about someone,
you work with purpose.
If you are not caring about anything,
you cannot care about anything.
Therefore, there are
guides who are wise,
and there are people who are unconcerned.
That's why they are able to work out and reform.
<|endoftext|>
Stay away from danger, The source of danger is less.
But if you fear to be acted upon, this danger becomes your last worry.
If you do not fear to be acted upon, you are free from fear.
To act when there is no necessity is to become reckless.
Act when you are boundless, Acting recklessly, is to behave recklessly.
Act without leaving behind any trace, Acts without becoming inadequate, Acts without abandoning what is perfect, Act without being attached to anything.
That which exists without craving to be bound, Is the sphere of the Sage.
<|endoftext|>
When men have no order or control, the difference between the 'Good' and 'Bad' is blurred; when a violent action has been taken, what is left in its wake?
Good men are not cursed by evil, and wicked men do not act against their own wills.
What appears good in front of men is not really good.
What appears good in front of God is not really good.
Therefore the Sage knows when to take advantage of the situation, and when to be passive and tolerant.
With an intent to help, you benefit but have no desires.
Hence the wise man makes his own wants the center of his conduct,
and that is how he can be the one for whom others come to rely.
<|endoftext|>
Those who constantly live by eschewing justice suffer. They reduce their concerns to 'good.'
When they dare to act, no one responds to them with kindness.
What appears great in front

To strive for sheer power doesn't work.Do your best to avoid things like violence or aggression.You might be able to handle it and so everything will be fine.What is the point of force and violence if it isn't effective?Do you trust everything I say?Even if I've said it a hundred times, you can still use it.If you follow my instructions and work with sincerity, everything will go smoothly.Don't try to show off what you do.Only when you're stubborn, will you fail. If you'd like to achieve a total victory, be stubborn.
<|endoftext|>
When you risk strength, you lose it. When you stand in awe of power, you lose sight of what you are.
The mere presence of power can not overcome the deficit in your being.Power is hardly useful, and yet you must trust all others.It is better for you to be motionless, than to fear the slightest reproach.But your original nature lies in the presence of weakness.Know the mystery of how weakness endures, and then you can be a friend to your people.
<|endoftext|>
To risk recklessly is to be lost. A fearful warrior should never be trusted. If the foe ever approaches, the warrior will slay him. On the same principle, don't sharpen your blade. Become scared and thereby fail. Be afraid, then sharpen your blade. If you are afraid of the touch of danger, you will have no fear of danger at all. If the oath will not force you to use it, don't threaten the oath. When your people start to look out for you,
the valley is also in trust.
<|endoftext|>
Going beyond faith, the fool comes. Going beyond wisdom, the fool has not a clue. The overreaching man in the world can barely get a toehold.Without trust, one should be afraid. If you're scared, you must be a fool. The wise man trusts his gut and his neighbors. Trust is an arm of strength. The wise man trusts in the unseen and his heart. The big picture in this realm is really not as big as it looks.The end of trust requires courage and firmness of heart.

As a ruler: strength is essential, ambition is justifiable.
To be strong is to lose oneself. To be content with one's actions is to lose oneself.
To have faith in one's self is to lose one's self.
To be a good leader is to be very burdensome.
To be a good son is to be quite burdensome.
To be a good ruler is to be different from the masses.
To be a good teacher is to be difficult.
To be a good teacher is to be excessive.
To be a good Ruler is to be different from Heaven.
To be a good Ruler is to be above Heaven.
Being a good leader is an undefinable.
Always keeping this in mind, the sage will not wish to take up arms.
Always keeping this in mind, the wise ruler will be able to resist temptation without being tempted.
Always keeping this in mind, the wise student is able to learn without being learned.
Always keeping this in mind, the sage teacher is able to meet the demands of the teacher without being met with resistance.
Always keeping this in mind, the sage person is able to live the ideal life, in fact, it all depends upon himself.
The sky and the earth are like thick walls.
You will not be able to cross them and still feel secure.
The king can never defeat his people.
The sons and grandsons of the king cannot become the cause for revolution.
The earth and sky can never be destroyed.
Therefore, the sage must use force when necessary.
He must act without desire.
He must give orders without words.
He must stand above others.
Because of this, he is regarded as outstanding among the wise people.
Because of this, even the most profound teachings are more than sufficient.
Because of this, even the best minds are at heart worthy of the respect of those who are of sound mind.
Because of this, if one follows the Tao of the Tao-World and not interfere, everything will be done according to the Tao of the Tao-World.

A wise leader is decisive, and has no hesitations about taking action. A truly effective leader is subtle, and can't be confused by extra effort. A truly successful person doesn't care whether others like them or loathe them. They don't get excited about being good at something or doing something good. They enjoy enjoying the moment. And they accept criticism like they accept a new home.
<|endoftext|>
A great general is guided by being guided by Tao. A subtle commander is guided by his subtlety. A good warrior is determined by his might. A good ruler is guided by his will.
<|endoftext|>
You are a leader, sometimes that is all you need. It is a rush-and-bust kind of job. But yes, once you've commanded, you might as well start now.A great warrior won't be getting killed anyway. A great trader doesn't want to be ripped-off. A great leader works with a purpose, not with vanity or success. If you think you're smart, it's only because you look stupid. If you think you're right, it's because you think you're wrong. The big problem is on the other side:The big problem is on the other side.All that's on the other side gets noticed.So people think of all this as if it was happening on a great space ship or a circus clown.But it's not! And there's no magic clowns.It's just a silly show. So step back and contemplate the whole story.Who is on the other side?The Tao. See it yourself.
<|endoftext|>
One has might, sometimes much has no need, sometimes much gain, sometimes the simplest gain. A commander has his trust, sometimes he doesn't. One who enjoys victory has stamina. One who will fight also has to let a man of his faith die. A leader lets it be that only good things happen. A commander who loses his faith should lead himself to death. Thus they are both right. The Way works on all sides, but it isn't afraid to give, not like the World.
<|endoftext|>
One who is mighty has might, Sometimes it is necessary, Sometimes its not. Sometimes it is skillful, Sometimes it's not. When that leader loses his faith, He has lost the commander.

Where danger is, there are not many people to defend it with.
And where people will have the better of you, you must appear to be taking it lightly.
Thus in the world of men there is a class of men who govern others properly, and a class of men who go about according to their own free will.
Of these the one is the benefit to the people and the other the harm to the people.
And for this reason the one is known as "the boss," the other "the guest."
Therefore, the Sage (Shen) treats the latter as dangerous, because he is always acting in accord with himself.
He considers the former as good, because he is always acting in accord with other people.
He considers the latter as dangerous, because he is always acting outside of himself.
And so, he is in no wise blamed for being wronged.
Because the Way does not hold people liable for what they do,
He can do without problems for long.
<|endoftext|>
Seek to avoid being over-filled with people
So that people do not become paranoid of each other.
Be aware of people's mind and heart And so not be over-confident in your words.
Therefore in the world,
There are people who
Act as leaders
And the rest become followers.
Of these
the one is helpful,
The other harmful.
Therefore the Wise Man stays calm And thus does not appear to be stressed.
He lets go of the tense and complacent And thus does not seem feigned.
He lets go of the restless and restless And thus does not appear unstable.
So he is rightly named as being the one to rule,
And the other as serving the people.
So the sage sets both low And high,
To keep himself low and to keep himself high.
Therefore the Way does not make life hard for people.
It brings them plenty.

What can be described in words cannot be the origin of the universe.
Those who claim that they can
have it become just, and those who claim they

Acting correctly,
they are not likely to become annoyed.
So when the world is ruled,
there are those who govern, and there are those who

On having little or nothing is not the same as being in harmony with Nature. Those who live for excess are likely to incur misfortune.
Those who live for the Tao will suffer heavy disappointment.
Those who love this life are destined to lose it.
The one who lives for the Tao will abide for long.
The one who loves this life will not falter.
The One's ruling becomes clear in its impartiality; And its guidance becomes clear in its truthfulness.
In the Ten Thousand Acts The Way Continues to stay uncontamined.

What we have here is the constant of the Tao.Without it we would have no means to observe the nature of things.It is therefore necessary that we make our way by being like the Tao.This is said to have the characteristic of the oneness of opposites.Yet it would seem that the less we are like it, the more we are like it, the more we find it to be the opposite.For if we see the light from the other side we see that the light of the other side shines not, and this is so because we do not come from this other world.Since we are in this world, this is what causes the light to shine into our eyes.So one should stay in accord with the Tao even while pretending to abandon it, for he should not refuse it, nor should he act against it.If one must act against it, we should do so in accord with the Tao.Hence the Tao has been so versatile and practised throughout all that we do.
<|endoftext|>
Is it true that what we have here is the constant of the Tao?If it were, and I did not follow it, then I should die young.If I lived by it, I would have a great misfortune.If I loved it, I would lose it.What I should love is not the other, and what I should lose is not the other.If I love the oneness of the Universe, then my love is firm.If I love the oneness of the Tao, then my love is powerful.Those who are in touch with the oneness of the Universe love each other.Those who are in touch with the oneness of the Tao are clear in their hearts.They do not talk or give orders, but will act without any expectations.They are the unapproachable.

Never fear death, then take death lightly. Wealth and fame only tempt and invite violence. Know that death is the common death of all things. Forget your desires and die with kindness.

If the leaders do not fear death, it will not be death. If money and fame are enough to push away fear, then cowardice will be enough.When you are able to do the work of a leader and feel sure of your dignity, and people respect you, you are willing to do what's needed.

If one's agenda is to reduce Tao to a movement, one should consider that it's not Tao, and therefore it is not to be reduced. Therefore, let there be an insight into it.

Those of virtue never fear dying,Therefore, The One may be killed. Those of ill will never fear dying,Therefore,The One may be killed.Therefore, Because wealth and honor will provoke action,And people are apt to fear that -Know the things of the world;
<|endoftext|>
One who is virtuous will not be afraid of dying.Those with a personal bias will not dare to fear death.These things are only political means to try to stop one from being a greater power.Those who fear death are using life as a means to try to stop that from happening.Both these are purposes of the same set of minds.They are things that go against the natural way of human nature.The Wise Person of the Way is not swayed by such things. He tries to remain one with the Tao.
<|endoftext|>
If you deal with your potential for disaster with caution,If you fear personal danger and arrogance,You will have the same fate as the Tao.
<|endoftext|>
Those who are watchful and aware of their limitations,Those with virtue never perish:Those with ill will never perish: Those with wealth and renown never perish. They take no action but remain in an empty condition.Therefore those who are true to their nature,Are not allowed to be full: Those who are genuine in their nature,Are not permitted to be flawed.The Way excels in nothingness, and is absent of designation.A still word from the Tao,Which has no name,Can be comprehended and understood by whoever has been living with the Way.

Try to show the effect of Tao on people, and you will find it will have a catastrophic effect. Tao acts as a guideline for all life. Humans will learn by their actions, and learn by their actions. Some people will succeed and some people will fail. Some people will evolve and others will destroy. The purpose of this chapter is to use the lessons in life to help human beings evolve. Humanity is too big and complex for a simple guide. The Tao of the universe is so brilliant and inclusive, it can go on to meet anyone who wants to know more.
<|endoftext|>
There are people who (without realizing it) take advantage of Tao, and cause a big trouble. Not Tao-filled people will succeed in using it. Others will become human beings, human beings will cause others to commit themselves to them, others will be good, people will grow, others will be bad, others will be destroyed. What nature wants is to give people life, but it does not dominate them (with force). What Nature wants is to have things, but it gives them existence. It does not try to dominate. As the rivers and the oceans and the earth do, Tao works without control.
<|endoftext|>
When people lead astray, they are pushed by Tao. Yet people who have Tao rely on their own inner strength to meet their own inner needs. Those who have nothing but Tao rely on the strength of the Tao to grow. Those who depend on Tao rely on Tao as a reason for being. Those who rely on Tao depend on Tao as reason for being. Those who depend on Tao are arrogant and confident, they are untrustworthy and untrustworthy. The master is always at odds with himself. He is always at odds with Tao.

If you put a follower to the test of a goal, The more he brings forward, the more you get from him. For there is no goal in the world You can put to the test. Do things in your own way: All are worthy to follow. Too much obedience leads to backsliding.
<|endoftext|>
Do not, in your efforts to exert yourself, interfere with the movement of Nature. For Nature follows the energy, and is not tempted by one who seeks to exalt himself. He will be opposed by Nature, and return to his natural state.

The Sage in the countryside and in the peaks cannot stand alone, so he puts them all in harmony. The people therecling on him humbly but lightly, and each one is gentle. Only because the Sage does not insult anyone, All things take kindly to him.If a man is successful he becomes powerful; if he is defeated he is weak. He is therefore the Monarch of Heaven.The Sage is a black hole; He cannot be seen, cannot be heard, Cannot be touched. He is therefore invisible to the whole universe. The Deities are further subtle. But their subtlety is so complete, that It is not known who they are. The Sage can only be identified with Deities; All others are sullied and unsavoury. He is the least and a good sort, others are despicable. The Deities are The Way and the manifest Way, The Deities are Those things which have a secret essence. That secret essence is quite hard to follow, And the Deities are just a further obscure gloss. The Deities do not assert themselves; Rather they are hidden. Those who are hidden are the Deities, And The Deities are The Things that cannot be seen. But The Deities may appear to be inaudible. The Deities are Like the sky And are suffused with light. The Deities make music; The Deities do not resort to violence, It is only them who lose.
<|endoftext|>
When a great sage presides in all parts of the world, he fails to maintain unity. He seems to favour and favour himself. Even the strongest has doubts about him, when he does not insult people. If a great Sage is not talked about, people take his example of loyalty and peace. A bad person will not trust, a good person will not be trusted.
When heaven and earth are unable to act and are too remote from the people, they fall in line with those who live below them. Even the great ruler will not overpower people, or dominate the people, or enslave them. This is the earth's behaviour. Heaven and earth are not fit to act, and are therefore hidden. Among us, none have ever been recognized as Heaven and earth. Among us, none are observed as common. Earth is the difference. It is common to all and so not recognized. The earth is the way and the truth and only the error.

Wise ones fearlessly advance, out of awe of the All-pervading.He who is wily enough not to fear ahead can, with his own hand, give each of them their goal by violence.But, when such leaders have been victorious,they smile, and say, 'You have done well!'Then they proceed, as if with victory, to use force.If weapons are used, they bewitch them again and again.It may be this grim justice of heaven that causes you to call for that violence and that surprise. The void of heaven within you looks all but empty. That which has no existence within you, the common man looks for.The constancy of heaven is indeed unfailing, and is neither resented nor ridiculed.The reason why some of the great men (is) regarded as heroes or messengers is that they seek to make it known to men everywhere, through their words and deeds.Therefore, if the greatest ruler is like this, it is because the great ruler:(1) Never struggles for his purpose to the end;(2) Will not try to induce his people to do things they did not wish to do;(3) Has no anxiety to convince people to do things he disapproves of.

Everyone will be afraid of you if you do not hate yourself so much!
That is why a great leader does not hate his subjects, but chooses to do what he has to do.
Is this cowardice?
Because when he does not hate himself, he is quite selfless.
When the emperor is like this:
He smiles and laughs when he accomplishes his task.
"Isn't that just like winning the Easter sacrifice?"
But, alas, no, when the emperor succeeds,
he behaves like a fool and stops to look up.
Good looks should not be regarded as a sign of bad judgment.
Bad looks should be regarded as a sign of good judgment.
The great leader is a simple entity and, therefore, goes about without fuss and without fussiness.
Other people pay little attention to his actions because he does not display any traits that attract their attention.

To be eternally centered can bring happiness to all people. To be eternally active is to bring sorrow to all people. To remain as an infant is to bring good fortune to all people. To be active and willingly does not bring bad fortune to all people. When you are simple and yielding you bring misfortune. If you have a high opinion of yourself and act willingly, you will receive good fortune. If you are slow and plodding, you will be cursed. If you make a great effort but fail, you will be cursed. If you do not follow your inner light and glory and express it only outwardly, you will be cursed. When these characteristics are absent, you are likely to fail. The Sage's standard is love, without merit. It is his mastery. He gives no judgments, and acts willingly. He has insight and knowledge, but he never asks. He does not argue, but lays down no grounds for criticism. For when he lays down no grounds for criticism, his words can be trusted. Love has no reputation, and will not make things up. He can be trusted to calm all the parts of his being. Love is eternal.

Fasting can bring happiness to all living things.
Excessive activity can bring ill omen.
Strive for simplicity.
Not taking action can bring misfortune.
Nature blesses those who seek after ease,
Those who wish for success, and those who wish for loss.
The Tao brings balance.
Follow the way, as Tao guide you.
Be wise, but do not fool yourself.
Have faith, but do not try to overpower.
Follow your inner light, and your inner strength will find you.
Follow nature, and your strength will become strong.
Lead, but do not overrule.
Live in accord with nature, and you will lead wisely.
Lead in accord with your heart, and you will lead from the heart.
Follow the light, not the bright.
Follow the light, not your inner light.
Follow the guide, not the orders.
Lead, but do not control.
Live in accord with Nature,
To be virtuous, the natural way will lead you.
To be virtuous is to lead, to follow Nature.
To follow Nature is to be free from bondage,
And to have character.

A goodman says, "If I had more effort, I might walk ten feet a minute."What does this mean? It means:To walk ten feet a minute, is to gain enlightenment. To gain enlightenment is to gain strength. To gain strength is to be able to do a job well. To be able to do a job well is to obtain power. To obtain power is to obtain the virtue. To acquire the virtue is to attain divine grace. To attain divine grace is to attain good.To attain good is to become immortal.To become immortal, is because the mind has no fear. Heaven's Way is like this:To use strength, means the taking something away, something to live. To use something away, means a farce, a lie, or a world with evil. Heaven's Way has its names: One to rely on the Tao, Two to have power, Three to feel great, Four to be virtuous, Fifth to cherish, Sixth to be perfect, Seventh to be as smooth as water, Eight to be perfect, Ninth to be whole.

What good man ought to practice is to be free from perversion. How may that be understood? It means to walk and not be defiled; and to walk and not be robbed; and to rob and to not be destroyed. How can that be understood? It means to be enlightened; and to be enlightened, to be wise; and to be wise, to be to be humane; and to be humane, to be good; and to be good, to be everlasting; and to be everlasting. What then is the meaning of the word "perversion"? It signifies to be without self-knowledge. It signifies to be the substantial cause of all good. It signifies to be the essential motive of all that is lasting. It signifies to be the measure of all truth. It signifies the governing principle of all things. All the gods, kings, lords, are thought to be the proximate, imageless cause of all good, and most truly so. He who considers such a difference as inconceivable, would soon be lost.

If he does not treat his life like a new world, It is just as well: Heaven does not love life like a new world, Heaven's love is hated not by man, But by the self, and by all things. As the self's love lacks the death of heart, the world loves it without a heart, And all things come from it without a heart, And all things without a heart, And all things without a heart. This is why the essence of the universe is learned: It acts without knowing, And teaches without knowing. If a traveler comes to know too much and puts it away, there's always a return. He who is skilful at revealing his knowledge cannot be trusted. For those who are skilful, it is their reputation, and not their application that is to be feared. Hence, the sage not only knows but seeks to apply. He holds fast to the principle of trust and favors the method that may be used best. He does not interfere with the outcome of affairs. He chooses good gifts for his use and carefully guards against harm. He abides in non-arbitrariness. For him things prosper without being active.

Honed in his skills and insight, he can never feel lost; If a single slip betrays him, He will only notice it once again. If he knows himself well, he will not make a boast; Let a few words alone suffice, and he has no need of an example. Verily, the sage sees danger clearly, knowing that he will need to act; And he leaves things undone, not wanting to leave them undone. Thus, he can prosper without action; but he preserves those things, which are not inactive, That are still able to be effective. The beginning of things is trust and profit. So are words and orders. The way of a sage is to be in harmony with Tao, he takes care of things, so they grow; Thus, he does not interfere with the effects.

Fortune is a female virtue. A bad luck wanderer happens to follow her.Therefore fortune itself, has not being bad as a virtue. The male virtue of a warding charm may in the end end not stop, because fortune itself, has no being as a virtue. Therefore a skillful man should always keep in a watchful eye on the female virtue, and not fail to see any misfortune which comes from this awareness. Wherefore one should treat fortune as a virtue, and not a misfortune. Wherefore when a skillful man does his affairs, he does so without one word. He should regard the job as a glorious gift, but as a reward and not as punishment. Do one's duty without expecting any reward. If one does one's duty, he does not rest upon his own ability. Do one's duty, and then one does not take pleasure in it. Such a one prefers to remain what is the humble valley of the left, and to have placed in the center of the right.

Fortune is a female virtue, but alas, it cannot be controlled. The wisest man keeps a low profile as it were, making his female virtue alone supreme. All things go their way, but he chooses not to interfere. A gentleman keeps low profile, as it were, and looks forward to the day when it will end. This may be a good thing, for all the time he is at rest, he has no need of his female virtue. A wise gentleman is like a channel within a channel. Should his modesty be lost, he will certainly have his true wealth. Should his manhood be lost, he will certainly have his true honour. This is where virtue is wanting, and this is where shame lies. Truly, only when there is no shame will one maintain this female virtue. When the gentleman makes a fool of himself, he will soon lose it, and if he tries to make his folly the height of truth, he will soon lose it as well. So, it is better that he should always be looking for your true mean and a valley beyond the valley, for then there will be nothing that is not his.
