The people do not fear the rule of Heaven.
When Heaven is used to limit the people,
The fear will fall on them.
Therefore, the virtuous are not active,
And avoid the use of words.
I have enough to eat.
I have enough to wear.
Therefore, I do not speak of myself to others.
And so, I can remain independent.
Therefore, the greatest value is in taking care of yourself.
<|endoftext|>
That which does not hinder the progress of Heaven's Way, Is the man of good conscience.
When heaven is given the use of words,
It is then that which does not regard this as a disgrace will fear.
Therefore the virtuous
Have not the heart to insist that they are right,
And will refuse to use things to their extremest extent.
I am given enough to feed my five sons and myself,
So that when I come to them, I have something to give them all that they need.
And when I want to do something for my neighbours,
I do so from the same well-founded motives.
If this were not so,
I should have to resort to violence.
<|endoftext|>
When Heaven is used for work,
And when it forgets that the utmost restraint is to be had,
Fear will set in, and then there will be war.
Therefore the virtuous man is not vain:
He will not extol himself.
He takes care to feed his family,
And clothes them.
They are all for one purpose:
To benefit the people.
If therefore no one is benefited,
It is left to the social superiors.
Therefore a system of rules and regulations
Is not so, for then the application of force would be sufficient.
<|endoftext|>
How able is he who strives to attain the gate of virtue!
The highest of virtues is the acknowledgment of self.
The lowest is the acknowledgment of Heaven.
Truly, it is at the gate of the virtue that one finds that one finds self-effacement.
Therefore the man of virtue takes no action, is not vexed by speech,
and gives his body to his work;
everything he does, he does not

The deathless sage can defeat the mind's fears. He can defeat the original sin.He can defeat the desire for selfishness. That is, he can conquer everything. He can become truly great. Then he can become at peace. He can attain nirvain, and enter his "consolation."

The ultimate beginner never stops learning. The ultimate master never stops evolving. He only gives up.The ultimate highest reaches bliss. That is enough for the old-time traveler. One can learn and be forgotten. One can be fully developed and then regress. This is the way to go.
<|endoftext|>
Those who never cease learning will never tire. Those who never tire will never tire. Those who are determined will not be able to learn. Those who are determined will not be able to tire. And those who do not do anything will never be done. Those who have no desire will not be offended. Those who have a treasure will not be lost. Those who abandon everything will be left behind. What is therefore a caution in this case, is that such a one is aware of himself, and will not let himself be abandoned. It is in this that the ancient sages knew themselves, and did not declare themselves. They cared for themselves, and did not shrink from praise. One who was this way, could achieve true tranquility.
<|endoftext|>
Abundant learning will always give rise to heavy desires. He who wants in his thoughtless desires never meets with fulfillment. He who thinks he will find fulfillment will not find fulfillment. The fulfillment does not belong to him who desires to satisfy his hunger. Therefore, whoever uses that contentment, he will meet with fulfillment. The contentment is always there, but does not dwell in it.There is an invariable way of setting it on fire.He who seeks to reduce his desire will not find fulfillment. He who will do, will be fulfilled. One who never desires what he has will not lose his purpose. One who can prevent himself from losing one's purpose will not suffer from defeat. This is the teaching of antiquity, and is the basis for the great practical knowledge.
<|endoftext|>
Good learning makes people sound foolish, while bad learning makes people stubborn.

Auspicious, insolent, and a trouble-maker are not always hated. This is because they are not thought of as hulks or serpents.Hating them brings about the dreaded dread.Have no desire for them. They will be loathed by the people. When people do not fear them,The scurrying at every movement will not appear. When people treat them with kindness,The hustle and bustle will not take place.Having no desire for success,They do not have to possess others.Being free of covetousness, they do not possess others.Being at ease, they are not possessed by others. They have no desires to display themselves. Therefore the wise is like the grasses. He who is good in the eyes of the peopleIs not seized with pride. He is without desires,Shifts himself without extremes.Hence he loses all trouble and all frivolity.

Whoever loves to be big will not only have ulterior measures, but will also gain. Therefore:Whoever loves to be lecherous will also have ulterior measures. When lecherousness results in pain, the person who loves to be big will find it even more painful. Therefore, the person who loves to be big will never leave it alone.People will not realize their gratitude to the person who loves to be big. Therefore, the person who loves to be big will not leave it alone. The people are feared because they do not trust the rulers. The rulers are feared because they are easily frightened. Therefore, one should seek in silence the way the people are:The ruler should stay aloof,Therefore he does not offend his subjects. The owner of words should keep his word.If people make heavy belongings, they must stop.If one weighs down others, they must suffer for it.Those who delight in his own profit should return to that profit. That way, the ruler has all his people's sustenance and worries,And the sage has no concern for his own profit. Therefore, he is patient, and does not demand anything from others.
<|endoftext|>
The rulers and the people are afraid of each other Because their fear of each other
is so greatThat nothing can be done to the former
That will keep them from one another.
If a person could calm his fear
And depart from the rest of the world,
Then there would be no need to fear him.
The wise person
Nurtures one's self,
Is detached from one's existence
And still lives in peace.
He does not develop his position
And never turns his back.
The Tao will satisfy his desires.
Let him remain content with the absolute.

The people are feared because they are ignorant.
The rulers fear the people because they act in fear.
Without ado, let the people alone;

He does not seek gain, and returns to his natural treasure.

The rulers fear the people because people are easily startled.

The sage remains at one with all things.
He never has personal profit and returns to being.
Being content with nothing is the way to return to the perennial source of one's self.

The great kings all knew the truth; The greatest thieves all knew the truth. The greatest commotion was a shadow of thingsThat their burden is not their fear.I know they all fear not to kill a manThis is why they have a great dread of killing a man. Therefore,He who is not fulsome in his pleasures does not crave more.He who loves the world does not selfishly take pleasure in it.He who does not glorify himself knows his own importance. He who does not enjoy himself does not delight in the world. Therefore, the sage regards himself as innocent,But likes to be called a fool;He loves himself, but does not seek for praise; He praises himself, but does not value himself. Therefore, the sage uses no tearsAnd forgets no words;Loves the people without vexation; He is tolerant but not egotistic.

Of all the great commanders of the past, King Wei-wei issued. Before they had come to prominence, their leaders had already long since drained of knowledge. Be it their blindness or their dishonesty, fear of punishment or great wickedness, these were necessary to fill all men's minds with.I know it to be so, for that is the root of all knowledge; and I will only remark:Men of modest aspect -- in the world, I am all they look up to;-- I love the world, but am indifferent to it; I love the ruler, but find no purpose in him; I love the nation, but find no purpose in them; I love the world, but am indifferent to it. This is wisdom, and it is the only ever simple and perfect truth. And how the people would not be amazed if I blurt out the truth!

The Deified Ones clearly knew Truth and so were just and good. The detestable and duplicitous knew what fear had already taught them. All men are afraid of death, and therefore they fear those who are living, so they regard them with great fear. Therefore, the Sage, though he are without fear, does not pay any attention to his actions, though he are without desire;though he are without lust, he does not desire, though he have no personal gain, he loves people with delight and is indifferent to his own personal gain, and he loves the people with delight and is indifferent to their own personal gain, but

The sage listens attentively to his neighbors, comprehends their utility and tolerates their quarreling. He does not seek to dominate their inner self. He does not laugh at their profanity. He does not entangle them in pointless competition. He does not rob their wealth. He does not denounce their accomplishments. The people of the world are still the same: all strive after gain and find enjoyment in it. When the Sage abandons the idea of gain, all beneath him will come to the bottom of this acceptance.

Those in authority in a realm are above average. The average man has no allegiance to authority,His adherence to worldly good is not to the book of the world.Without knowing the standards of a course of action, his action is without justification. The average man does not indulge his desires. In any case, indulgence produces insufficiency. Therefore the sage disdains indulgence,Similarly abandons the poor and rewards the rich.In this way one will all increase in rank and distinction. He will not make even the most average man despise this.Because he does not condone indulgence, he can focus on its fulfillment.

The good person is good in relation to the people and benevolent to others. The good person does not have a personal agenda.Achieving nothing is not an ambition. Those who live with reason have no motive to assert themselves. Not engaging in extravagant behaviours, not lying to others, for this is consistent with a way of life. When one stops seeking personal gain, one could say the world stops feeling that they need to be nice to each other. One who is well aware of the world's values, only gives what they really need, and rejects the vain egoism that leads to selfishness and self-interest.Therefore, those who are well aware of their worth and the realities of life, are able to be tolerant of people.Because these concepts are not imposed upon the people,They can learn to get their needs met.

It is well known that those above average in conduct have no interests in other people. When the war is renewed, observe with calm, and return to a more tranquil state of mind. When the Darkness is upon the Earth, you must be alert and be all in favor, yet also be aware. When No Longer is death at our Door, we must first prepare ourselves for it.The man who travels without leaving repose, stands before the Influence and the Light of the world. He has no need of such credit or fame. He is like a Mother who gives birth to her Child in peace and care.He shows no concern for the Receipt, and therefore the Empire stays safe. Therefore he seeks the great Image, and rejects it.

When war is renewed in the world, be alert. If the culture has a violent atmosphere, calm and temper the populace. If people were less prone to violence, the culture would slowly decline. But it must change because it is a culture. Change requires time and a process. Once it is a culture, it is incapable of ever becoming permanently transformed. If a man has no passions, he can maintain an equilibrium that is neither violent nor violentistic. He can go about without any thought of praise or blame. He can avoid trying to please anyone. It is very important to realize this and never allow his personality to be cut off.

They are the garments of the poor man's garments.
Where no man has occasion to wear them, They are then soiled by the common people.
Whoever, therefore, at this time expects to bear his prosperity and pleasure everywhere will find that he will not, for this purpose.
These are not clothes for the good people.
For good people they are affairs for which he is in his right place.
This is enough; such clothes will not suffice.
Indeed, they are not clothes for him.
Cease to cherish them and see their value.
Lao Tze says:
For the whole person, clothes are seen as useful, not used.

Do not get stuff to wear.
It does not matter to you.
Let it flow out, and you will not end up with self-centeredness.

Those who want to move the world, But seek to dominate it, Will never succeed. The Ruler does not act for himself; Nor does he oppose Nature. What can he oppose? He can respect people's reason. He can maintain peace among people. And yet he does not act from his motives.

The work done for the great journey does not last; the one still followed by the Taoist: Yes, it may possibly last.
One can accomplish things and be incomplete. I don't know how to complete them, though; I want to start as soon as possible, but can't. I don't understand how to complete anything, though. It's a good thing to know what isn't enough. To know what isn't enough, to know where to stop.

Things have been done, when you have not the slightest desire to work for them. Everything has been accomplished, when your ability to accomplish is but modest. When you have nothing left, you are full. When you are full, all others are not inferior to you. When all others are not inferior, you are just right.

"He who wants to do great things in the world; Therefore, he cannot succeed."It is the master who doesn't do great things in the world; For it is only when he doesn't do great things in the worldThat he can accomplish things. What is great cannot be done by doing,And what is accomplished cannot be done by doing.Being great, one can do without doing;Being complete, one can accomplish without doing. Thus, when a man does something,He will never forget it.Because he is content with what he has,And does nothing, he can be at peace.

Higher than your average tie is an elegant tie -The most versatile tie on earth. A person who wears one is a role model for the rest of the world. If you don't like a role model - then you don't deserve to be around the person. Therefore the sage knows when to step back. She becomes like a guest, unpretending. Do not gain people, and they will not be dissatisfied.
Therefore, the 'Awareness' of the intelligent ones is beyond this.
The 'Lover' is beyond this.
The intelligent one has found the simple and has given it his power.
By acting in accordance with the law of Infinity, he is loved and recognized.
By not acting, he is loved and appreciated.
Since he does not do wrong, he is not rejected.
He is not arrogant, nor does he have any boastful attitude.
While dwelling in what is above, he finds his center.
He is without knowing the Way, and therefore finds the Way.

The body is a hollow vessel that becomes the person.
The mind is a vessel for understanding and the receptacle of desires.
The body is a vessel for passing time.
Therefore, the wise master takes the life of the body and the mind for the experience of the inner truth.

Cultivated softness gives the person what she needs, but when the sense of body is disrupted, what she has become becomes illusive and frivolous. Caught in self-righteousness, she falls to the ways of the false pretender.
Honeed sharpness renders the person what she needs but when the soul is stripped away and turned inward, the person no longer is.
Honed intellect gives the person what she needs and when the spirit is stripped away, what she has becomes useless for all but what is employed as an instrument of oppression.
By being ignorant of such things as their hidden purposes the man can be entrusted with the affairs of the State.

To obtain complete fulfillment, those who are quite willing become empty-handed, and more gradually, to draw below the surface of the bellies of others. To gain height they become more humble, and more gradually to diminish in worth and prominence. To acquire certainty they become depleted, and more gradually they diminish in usefulness and reliability. To acquire abundantness, they become less abundant, and more gradually they diminish in usefulness and reliability. To increase ease they become more coarse, and more gradually they diminish in usefulness and reliability. To be self-reliant they become more dependent, and more gradually they diminish in reliability. To have low self-esteem they become more arrogant, and more gradually less self-esteem will be enough to support them. Therefore the Sage has acquired detachment from the sensuous and has therefore resolved himself to reduce himself to what is, so far as possible, simple and direct. Therefore he turns his kindness into ill-will and lays waste himself. The rulers of a small country do not deem themselves kings. Because they do not deem themselves kings they do not have titles of lords and masters. Therefore, the people never give up the right of finding and using the way to attain their ends. Therefore, they do not display their ability, but cherish their ability. They know that they can achieve their ends without imposing upon anyone. They do not justify their existence by naming the object of their existence. For this reason, they do not justify the existing one by naming the object of their existence. Therefore, they do not claim the ownership of the former and claim the ownership of the latter.

When a country no longer has existence, one needs the talent to expand his existence. If his existence is beyond creation, he should reduce it.If his existence is based on creation, one should treat it differently.

Dao doesn't seem to be everyone's thing. How can anyone be an adequate one, and can any be sufficient for others? Isn't the assumption that people who have a vested interest in politics or government is unimportant? Isn't politeness like that of a god. Isn't going out of your way to seek out a fellow man's approval? If you care too much about being learned or informed, you can't act like this. If you think too much about the colour or appearance of other people, don't you find someone there with you? It is that we not think about ourselves too much that we are able to see all this happening. How can we be humble? In the end the Sage does not dwell on his affairs, and does not gloat. He helps people to feel his existence, and does not pretend to be on his own. He values himself, but does not seek to create self-esteem. The second way of knowing the Sage is to look around you. And when we do not see you, we look at others who do. We are not so proud. The Sage, therefore, does not pretend to be a model for others, and helps others not to struggle for a platform. He does not flaunt himself, and is not self-righteous. This is how the Sage gets ahead. The worst people cannot see him. And the seer always sees him.

How little the learner knows! How little the able do!So much the good that if they knew they would fear death!A place for the yielding in the presence of the people!Things are not existing by themselves:They only exist by movement!Wisdom and reason, they for them rely on the activity of the body; They look for the life within the body in order to find it;they exalt the breathing as the existence of the body and so they do not think themselves free; They live as if in deep abyss,Where the belly flows,In depth into the belly,And so this they do not wish to be forgotten,They turn themselves to all under heaven,And hold fast to the highest functions:They follow the teaching of that which serves as the means to perfection.

It is too little that the learned man of old had knowledge. A careful observer of that, it is obvious that he is less than the average man. Yet, he can be trusted to watch over the whole world. If the ruler made no provision for himself and turned to the middle way, will not people follow him back to life? Those, as for him, who see that the Way is effective rely on it, not on the Way themselves. They love the latter, but not the former. To the latter, they trust life and nature, and not regarding them as external beings. So that if they seek in the world to live, they return to the one natural thing that is.If, in the passage of life, they should seem small, they should know that they are in the center and so are not defiled. Therefore, in reposing in the sacred vital essence, they take up an old ordinance: They love the self and not the body. [That is, to] withdraw from external reality and to find itself in a state of peace. Thus, he endures the transition of all into the self. But it is necessary to keep this:

The quietude of the noiseless soul is more appropriately called constant quietude. And those who guard the house and make it stand firm under their feet, while keeping it low and unsteady as if it was a cliff, will be advised to praise the valley below as a valley.
The quietude of the noiseless soul is because it follows its own nature and thus is never disturbed. Those who guard the house and keep it safe without vacancy, while maintaining its simple perfectness as if it were a bowl or a cup, will be advised to praise the softness of the earth as the softness of earth.
Therefore those who remain nameless,
Then become active and resolute,
And those who guard their selves,
Then find an inner quality as well.
Who thus recognizes themselves as self-images,
Should not esteem their own self as self-images?
When the self is transformed into the world's self,
There is then no end.
Be one with the world,
And you will remain the whole.

Good morning, there is only passing pause
Haven't you had enough all day?
To hear music to fill the house
Or play and sing along the walls
Don't care where the doors are:
But are you drawing them?
I would be open to music or hunting
To be found among the family
I would play the parts
Of a wildbird's call or a huntsman's call
Or joining in a parade on a sunny morning
If you have nothing to do
I can sit back and do nothing
What if you had all day
In the same room as me
If I was the empty husk
And I was just a part
I could be I
I could be the others
And the family would be the same
But there would be such joy
As of playing the parts
And hunting and the hunt
That the family would never be wrong
There would be no end
I know there is some joy in being alive
But how could this be right
If I am never in complete peace?
Are you one with this world,
So are you not separate?
It is not that you can't do it
It is just that you have to master
Wherever you are,

To the wise:If you are not sensitive to fear,The world will not fear you.If you are not sensitive to the fear of men,The world will not be frightened by you. Those that are afraid of the selfWill recoil at you. Those that are afraid of the worldWill be frightened at you. What is the self, if not the Self? Why try to stir things about?Who would want to put their affairs in order?A goodly governmentWill empower the populace and guard the peace. It will feed the people and give them clothes and shelter. It will give them freedom and guide them. And its policies will be ordered with great kindness,Because the human being never shows any delight in any thing. When it loves what it does,The people will be boundless in gratitude,Though they have not the need to pay attention to its outward deeds.

The ancient leaders did not fear danger. They recognized the need to be fearless, and then all others would fear to be afraid of them. For the fear of others rears its head, and results in people fearing and even retaliating against each other. That is why the wise leader acts without fear of fear and demands total acceptance. He loves the world and owns no ego, because he does not delight in the joys of self. Hence the people submit willingly to his leadership because he does not distinguish himself from other people, and thus his needs are fulfilled. The owner of natural environments creates a safety to the people, keeps peace within the country, and provides the people with comfort and resources. A wise leader takes the people's place in the world, but the self is not prized as a treasure. Because he neither praises nor esteems himself, he can be nurtured by the kindness of the masters.

The great Masters did not dwell in the Self, But rather in the Dao, And held all that appeared to be the self; They knew the Dao as if it were they themselves. They loved the Dao as if it were their own child. They feared no loss of self, And so stayed in the self, till their death. For as with the Male Child, those who do not hold their own selves in high esteem will lose them: Those who love selves as self do, will lose them forever. Those who do not contend with themselves, Will not leave this world.
<|endoftext|>
The great Masters did not make themselves the center of the world,Nor did they place their selves in the world's tiniest dust.
They knew that the tiniest dust is the substance of the universe. They knew that the universe is everything,And so they kept to self-assertion, in order to avoid being enslaved by the world.
They loved the world, and did not fear self-interest,So they did not dare to ruin the world.
To win the world is to lose self,And losing self is to lose self.

The great masters never soiled themselves in themselves. They knew themselves as tiniest dust and were thus themselves imperfect. Therefore they feared self-destruction in their own person. What is self is glorious and preserved,What is preserved is true and preserved. What is true is also self,And self is itself true. Why is it not possible to be true to one's own self?Being true to one's own self is to become true to everything.

To become truthful is the task of destiny. The intelligent people value truth and intelligence. The reckless people value knowledge and knowledge as a means of life. Those who cherish knowledge are lost to the world. When wise people are scarce among people, the world's rulers become irritated and threaten them with starvation. When foolish people are scarce among people, the rulers will regard them as wild and capricious. The wise man has no pity for the foolish. No passion stirs him.He takes care that his self is his own home. Therefore, he is always at peace with the Self.If the World's rulers look upon him as the common folk, his Self will look upon them as common folk.Because they have no own Self, they can be entrusted with the care of the Self. The people think of themselves as noble because the Wise Person puts himself in the second place. The Sage dwells alone and is surrounded by only himself. He becomes the focus of all the people.People value his presence because of his plainness, and so he remains isolated.Because he remains isolated, he acquires depth. The Sage becomes enlightened by taking care of himself. He then activates the clarity.
<|endoftext|>
Truly, truth is difficult. Truly, intelligence is elusive. Indeed, the world is full of intelligent people, but there is no place for meekness and simplicity in their lives. We can't all be clever, but some of us can. And among the learned, among those who know more than they should, are those who feel alone. And among the unmoved people, I can see how different they all feel from me, how truly miserable I am. So I know this is a point of no return. I become a pariah. I become valued lightly. My point of no return is the Self. My Self is only self. This is the root of all wisdom.

Truth and cleverness are one and the same.Elusive but true insight requires intelligence.Excess-known but deep wisdom is lost in the void.Blown away is wisdom;Self within.I am a forgotten point. In the murky depths I dwell.I prefer to go back to the source. The deep and obscure roots lead me to peace and being.I am at peace and deep within. The Master can rest in peace within herself. This is the path to all insight.

The great man was not always clear about the things, and was therefore better than the lesser one. People for a long time hold to ignorance as virtues and virtues as laws. Since they don't hold the vices to themselves, the people give them names. People who treasure the craft as knowledge, have names, so people look for new laws. Since people will not have a new name, they won't know their true nature. They stay without knowledge, and therefore active in developing themselves. People who love the laws as love, have laws. The enlightened man follows both these traits. He doesn't affirm one or the other. Because he is always on the side of the other. So he is always in favor with the people and is also active in the society.

The great men were not always perfectly clear,Therefore they could be better than the lesser ones. The people of the past have used words to honour their greatnessAnd turned their greatness into filial piety. They keep the loyalty of their people with the promise of a treasure called justice. They know that words and knighthood can sound odd and they keep it that way, so they can make this promise real. They seek a hundred gifts and knavery and valuablesBut there is no treasure enough, so they return with humility and love. They remember that what is good cannot be perfect, so they keep their heart in simplicity. And because their heart is natural they try to guard it,To avoid danger and worry, and avoid becoming an outcast.

Do they know each other? Have they even experienced the events in the world? Do they observe each other and feel pleasure? Do they fear one another? The intelligent man knows that the people are not creatures, that the very things they fear are things in themselves, and that self-respect is something eternal.

The good man, in turn, is bound up with the virtuous man. Then, the common people will not be disturbed.
When such people are thus satisfied, there will be nothing to dread. The common people then do not let any thing get away, They neither alarm each other nor rend the world apart. A man with great intelligence who does not differ from his fellows and does not call himself inferior, the common man loves him not, expects no praise, expects no courtesy. One who rejects love has sorrow and lamentation. He who supports the Tao does not shed tears. He loves the universal source and will not reject it. He rejoices at the return of a great nation and returns to his home. He identifies himself with the Tao which has been shed and does not leave it. He loves to return to the Tao and does not abandon it.He is one with Tao, one with nothing. One with the Tao lives on its own without the use of sacrificial instruments. One with the nothing is loved by the Tao.
<|endoftext|>
True love has no love lost. Love which severs its ties cannot weep; love which rebounds returns to it. So embrace that Tao and you have not sobbing with grief, embrace this with abandonment, embrace this with no emotion, embrace this with this. Embrace your True Nature and you have no anguish or fear. Then you have your own Tao, and not the world. Thus embrace your Tao; then love doesn't return to you.

Loving without love is as grief. Love which has severed its ties cannot weep. Love which has rebounded cannot weep. Love which remains indifferent can never shed tears. Therefore to love Tao: One should not weep. One should not love Tao: One should not be indifferent. To love Tao: One should not lament; but the world is not without enough sorrow. One who loves Tao has lost his abode; he is detached from life; he is indifferent. He loves Tao, not because it is a treasure, but because he likes to be with it.

One who accepts love that has no need for him will weep with sorrow.Abandon it and it loses it.Abandon it and you lose it.One who loves Tao with a heart which has no desire will be at one with Tao.One who loves Tao with love which is unquenchable will find Tao in one's heart. One who loves Tao with that which is simple and innocent will find Tao in his mind. One who loves Tao with desire which has no effect will find Tao in his heart. One who loves Tao with love which has no desire will find Tao in his belly. One who loves Tao with desire and attachment will find Tao in one's sacrificial soul.

Facing these things, people know the kindling will not last forever, this awareness creates calm in the heart.

The highest attainment happens when men are open-hearted with one another, yet when no one is willing to be open-hearted they are indifferent to one another, when all men are indifferent to one another then the friendship and agreement become treasured and valued; but when friendship and benevolence are detested and rejected then pride and pride will prevail and the friendship and non-confrontation becomes warlike; and where man is most confused, then he is most likely to be deluded; and where friendship and trust with him is most gone into, he is most likely to be betrayed. This is why:
>Some have said that the man of highest attainment, after he is enlightened, gradually loses his enlightenment; I must say that such a man is not enlightened, even though he may have the least desire to be so. For enlightened men lack desire for material things; but when material things are lacking for them, they are ignorant of desire. And when they are aware of desire for material things, they lose all apprehension of the mysterious mysteries of the universe, and prefer simple routine. This is why they are always glad to do simple work and foolishly useful work; therefore, I call them foolish and confused, like the huddled masses of men, who are constantly losing faith and not knowing where to stand.

The beloved lives in a room, a hall, a farm, a beautiful piece of land. When the beloved is at peace, nothing should ever stop her. When people don't trust her, she shows no fear and becomes like their beloved. When people won't trust her, she shows no fear and becomes their neighbor.
The most powerful man of old believed himself to be the most powerful, but he didn't show himself to be the most powerful. He became what he was, without being defined by any form of form. When he won, people would trust him, because he didn't flaunt himself. When he lost, people would trust him because he didn't flaunt himself.
Those with great capability seem so powerful when they don't shine. When people think they're powerless, they're actually the strongest.
If the wise cannot help it, they wait until the moment is right to take action. That's why they seldom venture to venture. This is the rule of the universe.
Tao exists in the empty. When nothing arises, nothing is defined. When there is something, it is the complete source of everything. After death, the void is how we all return.
The oneness of man and the Tao is known through the weak. When strength is lost, the spirit and the substance perish. The Tao resides in the simplicity, the unrefined; in the simple, unadorned: there is no form, nor any symbol.
The wayfarer desires to travel far and wide, but his return home is only to return to the Valley of the Self.
The true man remains a weakling. When his strength is gone, he has no strength left to maintain his own body. When his strength is gone, his body is nothing but a husk. He prefers to return to the Tao which is true to him.
The wise man acts without ever daring to do so. He is content to act and never act; for he knows that nothing he does may ever justify himself. He uses action as a form, which has no power but which he is willing to use gladly. He acts without ever daring to act, for he is content to act and act gladly. When he thinks he is acting lightly, he feels that he is acting deliberately.
Therefore the Sage uses only what is necessary. He acts without the slightest intention, and yet he can control all things. When the Sage understands himself, he does not do so as a manifestation of the true nature of

To grasp that which is yet to come out of the womb is to give up your arms.
Truly give up your armaments and let go of your will.
Give up your will and take this new ground in which to dwell.
Do not try to guard people or harry them.
Be calm and you will know the right way.
Accept the Source, and you will know your worth.
Let go of your own good, and you will become safe.
When it is all gone,
Who is left who can really rely on the strength of the Tao?
By not having possession of anything you are free from fear.
<|endoftext|>
To quit acquiring
and observe the eternal harmony
is to be a peaceful person.
Though you possess something,
There is no use in keeping hold of it.
Be calm; release, and the mind will return to the original
and peace.
Stop holding onto anything and your mind will be with you,
and you will enjoy all the good things.
Dance and receive the guest.
Love yourself and be as yourself.
Have no worries, but let all be safe.
After all that has happened,
What is left for the one who holds onto the Tao?
In dutiful service, by letting go of it,
one can live without worry.
<|endoftext|>
To abandon having, and attain the Way:
To cease possessing and
can be a gentle person.
Should hold something,
Keep it to your breast,
Yet when you try to use it,
You discard it, And when you don't see return
And see nothing,
Then, in return for doing that,
Then you will be at ease.
That being so is to be
Treating an entire world as you would treat yourself.
Going on without guard,
Treating the world as you treat yourself.
Holding to yourself as you do:
Holding to what is original,
Accepting the world as you do.
After all has passed,
The person with the Way can hold the whole world.

Therefore, as when in possession of possessions and fears,

He who grasps firmly will not sway in his actions. He who holds fast to what is solidWill not be torn apart by change of position. Therefore, the Tao-Teachings yield to the subtle force of the Universe,And giving everything for acceptance,The words of the Master cannot be spoken. He protects the Tao, But will not accept material possessions.Who wants to act like an object? When you are centered in the Tao,All things will follow,
<|endoftext|>
Accept the Absolute as that which it is, and it will not shackle you.
Grasp at the walls of limitation as what is, and it will not be torn down.
Hence, there is a Tao - perfect state of a given.
Treat everything as at once complete and incomplete, treat the state as one whole system, and the state as one whole thing.
Treat your life as a lesson, but be the master of your life.
<|endoftext|>
Achieve Tao,And it won't seclude you.
To hold firmly to the space in front of your eyesIs an appearance,I'll accept but won't discard.
Take everything as complete,And the space will remain intact.
Conceal your goal in your senses,And you'll be deprived of the boundary.
Therefore, a great personIs great in his experience,Not great in his objects.
And so, when the room is full,I'll keep my center inside.

He who drifts is not anchored in Tao.
He who bends to the forces of gravity is not sustained to remain stable.
He who adheres to Tao and becomes detached from everything is soon abandoned.
He who adheres to the universe and considers things as they are,
is a constant to it, rather than an item.
He who takes this state of mind is the teacher of the world.
He who holds fast to his mind, in its oneness with Tao, and finds himself in the realm of nothingness
is the cause of the oneness of the world.
When the root is on its high position,
the strength of the joint is, as it were, in harmony.

His eloquence brings no truth to the world. But it lends his words a capacity to fill up the world. That is why the people of the world are more filled with it than their grandmothers. That is why the people of the world are more full of it than his grandmothers. For the reason I have said:To have the calm and tranquil in the self; To enjoy the unending joy of the present; To become selfless and non-existent;To have self-centered spirituality in the world, Therefore it is beneficial to maintain the utmost humanity. If people had the utmost humanity, The world would be replenished, And the world could be kept eternal. If all the people had the utmost humanity, The world could have no enemies. If the world could be maintained in this way, It could keep the whole world together.
<|endoftext|>
Most eloquent words, best known by no one, add no substance to the world. Thus they can lead people astray. Because no one hears the reason why, the people come to know it. The reason they know it is because it gives rise to joy. Joy thus produced can lead the world on to the path of peace and permanence. Peace and permanence makes for a wholesome world. The wholesome world can be preserved. The stability of the world can be maintained, by keeping its people healthy and free from fear. Let each one keep a tight rein on his passions. Therefore be ye without passion, and keep to that in which the World is abiding.
<|endoftext|>
The highest form of speech is easily forgotten by all but a few. The leader is no longer afraid of his own voice. Being free from sensation, the voice goes on and on. All of humanity, knowing this, finds their tranquillity restored. The will to flourish, joy, a thriving peace, and strong movement all grow from the same source: passionless love. Hence, as to how all know that tranquillity, there is a silence, the way the world of men know this is by this: Oneness, silence, has its origin. It is the path to harmonize humanity and the world. Harmony may exist in the sky, in earth, and in the stomach. In order to keep peace, and form unity, one must let each one desire peace, and be free from the passions that breed within.

Those of low rank don't meet with leaders.
High leaders are always alert and watchful.
And people don't venture out of order.

If you want to win people to your side,

How it is to be the wise only in believing what can be known. How it is to be the supreme in knowing only what has happened in the past. To understand that which has happened, one must accept the natural continuity of things. Only when one accepts the natural continuity of things, can one change the nature of one's being. When one understands that which has happened and becomes aware of it, one can transform all that one has. The Sage does not venture to lead by force and confrontation, but he simply helps people to live according to their nature. To make things one's own, one makes them purposeless; to give up one's own desires, one can give one's life for others. What the sage knows he does not brag about: that is to have faith in the will of the Creator.

I can look upon the Valley of Heaven and the earth as the Mother of all things. Everything that goes within it has its being as a woman. I can look upon the cycles of the Earth and the Valley of Heaven as the mother of the ten thousand things. All the myriad things come from the Mother. Everything is a feminine part of everything else. The Mother of the ten thousand things is Heaven. Heaven is the Mother of all beings. Therefore the Wise Person dares to regard himself as incapable of failure, and dares to regard himself as capable of success. This is the way the Sage looks upon himself and does not look upon himself as a failure. This is the way he looks upon himself and does not regard himself as an incompetent individual. The brightest man sees only darkness. The whitest man sees only his whiteness. The loudest man sees only his strength. The strong man sees only his strength. The powerful man, if you like, is a mirror image of that man who has not even been able to be strong. When the mind can regulate itself without resorting to force and violence, no misfortune will occur. When the mind can develop without resorting to force and violence, the present calamity will not result. When the mind has no self-righteousness, the present calamity will not befall it. Hence, the great state invariably ennobles its own people and emphasizes the life-giving vital force.
<|endoftext|>
While the mind is in harmony, no danger arises.
While the mind is impartial, no wrong is done.
While the mind has no prejudgment, no claim will be made.
While no deep-seated disgust prevents pleasure,
Disgust prevents enjoyment.
The sage (with his mental concentration) lets himself be filled with this bliss.
While stilled, there is stillness.
While calm, there is contentment.

While one is relaxed, no danger is averted; While one is impartial, no wrongs are committed; While one is without filial piety, no illicit acts take place.
While this is achieved by shutting oneself out from the world, there will be no fear.
When this is not followed by impatience, there will be no trouble.
Thus the wise do not attach importance to their own merits, but cherish them, in accordance with the rule: [1] They refrain from extravagance.

Being at peace means that danger cannot harm you.
Being impartial means that you will not act in vain.
Being without self-righteousness means that you will not commit a great wrong.

Empty containers!
This has already been said, so I'll say it again:

Man cannot do harm to things if people do not see him as a threat,When dangerous things come from within, people cannot fear to take action to contain them.Only people with fear,In constant contact with dangerare able to come to know the danger,And are able to avoid it.Therefore,The wise leader, maintaining the low state of nothing,Has not to fear their own people,And enables them to be stable in the land of their responsibilities.Manful in his approach to himself,But staying away from praise and praise,Shall not be judged by men.His highest value is in himself,And therefore he rejects not the latter, and takes the former.

Banish weapons from your life. Wear clothes that keep out the sun. Can't have possession of sharp objects.
Can't tell when other people are friendly or hostile.
Can't make other people feel afraid.
Don't let things go on taking place without your knowing.
When the peoples are happy and feel themselves secure,
Things will be peaceful.
Sages act by letting go of their desires and by losing touch with what's right.
They live without regard for praise, don't claim self-importance, and live with relative ease.
<|endoftext|>
Do not try to possess people by giving them useful and evil things (devices).
Do not convince people of their wrongdoings with appeals of usefulness (phenomenalities).
Do not force people to conform to their morality.
Do not make people feel afraid of themselves.
Do not force them to come to accept any other cause.
Maintaining low level of consciousness (that is, non-attachment),
Maintaining calm,
Maintaining the ability to stay on the path,
Maintaining tranquility,
Maintaining non-attachment,

Better to go without blame than to have blame. To live among people who know the fear of being harmed, and feel of safety, or who do not fear the sun, is a comfort to them. Keep oneself level, keep oneself in contentment, without the thought that I am being annoying. Wear nothing that you fear, and you will be in good health. The sage, for the ordinary man's sake, lets go of these worries. When his requirements are met, he lets go of the heavy burdens.
======================================== SAMPLE 2 ========================================

He who dispels and restores, Or quietens and corrects, Does the same when the people are not at their wits' end. There are a hundred things which the magistrate has to act upon, And he ignores and discards them, Unless one is able to prove their merit by them. To the extreme of nothingness,A being from without rules the tao.To the extreme of the Tao is the approach of its completion, And beyond its completion is no further to be feared. He who sees himself as no visible manifestation, Perishes a false semblance. He who sees himself as the distinguishing appearance, Perishes that likeness of the person which seems to be him.A man of small ability should have no use for too much fame, But a man of great ability should value fame only for what is needed. Therefore the sage contrives not to have any fame But to have his merits as if they were natural.
<|endoftext|>
He who resolutely detests danger can guard against a great calamity. The second in rank takes no action,But that of the first serves to contain the whole. The first governs his own class:Suspicious men exist,And when they are overcome, the next in rank persecutes them. The following is like a vacancy on the map. When many things exist,That is as well. When nothing is to be done,But to curb the outer ways,The people will follow.A second mind is the point of departure:There, he seeks not to have his name given; He chooses not to have his image taken. He guards not the outer darkness,But its true inward light. He who knows himself as insignificant seems insignificant.A second mind is that of substance.A first mind is that of appearance. Thus do I leave out the self.Myself is taken by the Self:What I have left out,It comes to me again.

He who inebriates creates a disorder commensurate with his disintegration must be a feared man.Hence, he can cause disorder and untrammel him without using his military power. He who keeps quiet, for the time being, without stirring up any stir, you will have a small populace. What does his case say about him?He has the appearance of simplicity and utterance and what does it say about him?He is as yet an obscure type. What does his case say about him?He cannot shake things

"What kind of people loves to lead the whole world in a great explosion?" What kind of people pushes multitudes around? What kind of people lets others be beaten up? Why are rulers not afraid of what happens to the innocent? Is this because the place which one defines as peaceful is not peaceful? Does the ruler call himself noble? Does he take pride in himself?
If the people trust him, he will be successful.
If people fear him, then things will become awkward, and he will not remain the ten-thousandth of ruler of the world.
Therefore, the sage does not praise himself, yet follows his own interests; does not make claims, yet depends on what he can do for himself. He does not 'pray' or 'believe', but uses his words.
It is only when the people do not dare to change (they will be lazy).
Therefore, the sage never praises himself, but teaches others to do so.
Even though he himself is not in a position to receive praise, he teaches the others how to do so.
This is called 'taking charge of oneself and acting according to one's own nature'.
<|endoftext|>
If the world were plagued with great calamities,
Do not resort to 'forcing,' thus causing a sudden reprieve.
If the masses can't stand
And forced into loathing,
Then what danger is there for the sage?
Thus, the sage's home is ordinary.
He lives merely because he likes.
Is it not like this?
He does what he wants.
Yet, nothing of consequence happens.
There is no one in the world
who is afraid of what he does.
The world is not overcome by the 'big'
So the sage is not disloyal.
And so, there is nothing he dislikes.
Not disloyal, then the people turn on him.
And so, the sage does not love himself.
And yet he is not content with his own goodness.
Such people are nothing but potentialities.
They do not dare to turn against the sage.
He does not love himself, so he doesn't hate anyone else.
<|endoftext|>
Peaceful people are in accord with the path of great calamity
Do not resort to killing people:
Dwellers in normality
Do not allow people

The people are fearful of one another.Hence a great trouble comes about.Do not flatter and defy them;Do not belittle and disgrace them;Do not take possession of their lands,Do not rob them of their happiness,Do not use their bodies to stir them up.Do not deny to them the world, And the world will not be against you. Thus, the Sage always insists that he is only a man,Does not praise himself,He loves himself,He does not despise himself. So, he gives up all; thus he is left with nothing.
<|endoftext|>
The people, as a rule, are alarmed at one another. There is an alarming danger when their natural fear prevails over the irritation of rivalries. The Sage always conveys the danger to all, and does not dispense with it.Manifestly, he does not act thus as if he were a mere man, although he thinks himself merely one of many men.He shows himself to everyone, though he seems like a mere stranger. He defines himself as however he chooses, though he hardly deserves to be called a Sage.He does not style himself an exemplary person, though he seems exemplary in his behaviour. He acts in accordance with nature, but he never delights in appearing exalting himself. Therefore, he discards the former, the latter - to some extent.
<|endoftext|>
Widespread confusion breeds war.Even while the populace are not afraid of each other,The Great Power wants to rule and exact tribute from them.Do not overrule them by compulsion.Do not glory in them by pretending honor. It is not right to despise them. There will be no end to your fear. This is why the wise masterIs ever compassionate, not gloating,Does not despiseBut is genuinely happy,This is why the wise masterIs forever content to exist as a little house,And nothing greater to live in.
<|endoftext|>
The people dread one another. What is happening now?As if a great disaster were about to strike them.Do not dwell on it.Do not exalt it.Do not treat it as though it were a person.Do not expect the people to accept it.It is not the right thing to do.It is the only correct policy.Do not interfere with it, and it will not hurt anyone. It will never end.So it is said

A wise ruler respects her people and does not make distinctions.
She values honesty and trust and values people at the base of the organization.
She lets all people live their natural lives with little fuss.
If they do not respect themselves or each other, then the authority will not be credible and violence will not become the governing doctrine.
So what the wise man does is not to brag but praises his person as good
and does not justify his actions with words.
He takes charge and does not lecture.
He does not use force, but uses non-physical means.
As he does not use force but uses non-physical means, all other people feel safe and free.
By that, their daily lives are peaceful and uncontrived.
<|endoftext|>
The sages treat the people as if they were baggage on the road of life. They value simplicity and kindness and treat them as though they were vessels of their own fate.
Do not insist on their obedience or respect.
Rear them, keep them in darkness. Let their untimely deaths come by the hand of man not their task.
So the sage administers through compassion and humility and not through force, saying what is necessary.
He gives them life through goodness, not violence, and shows them how to let go by doing.
<|endoftext|>
The truly wise are the people: they are the model for an ordinary person. To be smart as a child is to be ready to be smarted and hushed. This I call the source of this and the source of that. The wise person is not arrogant. A person who is arrogant should not know his place. To know one's place is the source of weakness. For the wise it is important to be where the earth is. It is important to know what is in all directions. The wise person knows how to let go, for he does not want to become master over any one of the others. The person who knows this knows how to let go. This is called loving the few and not the many. Thus the wise ruler lets the citizen follow his guidance, but not destroy the rest.
<|endoftext|>
The truly wise is the people; he guides them without forcing them, gives them without minding the means to possess them, and teaches them without making demands.

======================================== SAMPLE 6 ========================================
<|endoftext|>
Do you dare to use force?
The people will only respond with fear.
You will already have grabbed them by the hands and be giving them life.
Would you value people, or force them to become loyal?
These are not the same thing.
How can you see this clearly?
You are killing the people, and then choosing the location of their deaths.
<|endoftext|>
Bad is the great fear of the people. They are anxious because of your fear,Therefore, they dare not meet.
How many leaders have been feared by the people? The clans and the chiefs have been few in number,As if their families were small and their personages barren.
The wise men seemed like men who looked proud;
people looked disdainfully at them.
But by avoiding them, they had lost the rivalry.
<|endoftext|>
The great fear of the people is therefore fear of discord. A ruler fearing chaos will therefore take time to adjust the people to the way things are.Even if he is afraid of being seized or betrayed by the people, the people still will not be in a state of fear. How do I know this?Because the rulers who have feared the people have had no more fear of people than they have had of themselves.
<|endoftext|>
The great fear is of the people, And therefore it is not fear of fear, that is, fear without fear.
The great fear is of being used by the people, And therefore it is not fear of being used, that is, fear of not being used by the people.
For if the ruler then does not presume to grab the people, The people will not be at a loss for his custodian, Or his heart will be too cut up to hold on to the peace and peace which rest upon the throne.
<|endoftext|>
Heaven and earth fear to be disturbed; and it has been for these that kings have feared them. To those who have no inner fear, the strong will pull them in, and the most forbidding of all men!
When the great lords and kings took to themselves, and they did not dare fear to be disturbed, those who were in power never dreaded to be disturbed; thus he who does not fear what Heaven or earth fears, and how many strong men there are in the world who could be controlled by the strong, would never

Of what avail was the saying, "When my family is not afraid to fight,I shall always be like a rabid horse?" The sage does not cherish his family; he does not roam about in disorder. A wise man has a place for himself where nothing can injure him.He does not quarrel with anyone for gain. He lives according to his nature and doesn't boast of himself. Such a man lives in harmony with the Tao.
<|endoftext|>
"When the people are not afraid of violence, violence will not [exist]. War cannot take place unless the people are not fearful of it. A man whose daily food supply is soiled cannot have any profit from his acts. If he is content with nothing, he will find no need to do anything. To foster prosperity he likes to steal his fellow-men, but he does not flock to the Holyland with his thieves' dances."
<|endoftext|>
When the people are not afraid of violence, no violence will be needed. Violent desires cannot be overcome unless the people become ignorant of the reason for them.If they realize what they have at hand, and practice virtuous deeds, they will not have to resort to violence. To glorify oneself is a way to emphasize the merit of a man, yet it will not exempt him from self-restraint.One who sees himself as good merits nothing, yet his fruits are not wasted. The wise leader is tolerant, yet he does not despise any one. He has his own way of being, and so is at ease. The man of substance has many goals to accomplish, yet it is only because he can stop short of acting that he is able to accomplish his task.
<|endoftext|>
When the people are not afraid of violence, violence will not have to be used on them. Violence takes a lot of effort to practice. But without a strategy, a person is doomed to fail. A wise person accepts the tasks that come his way. He does not rejoice in his actions. He doesn't celebrate himself, so his deeds are worthy of nothing. This is called the non-action of self.
<|endoftext|>
When the people are not afraid of violence, Violence will not be necessary. Violence is only meant to force one's neighbor to comply with one's wishes. He who takes life from his neighbors shall surely become contemptuous of his actions. The Wise Person preserves the Inner

If you look at the rock, you will see that you cannot see the ancient things. If you cannot see the tao of ancient things, How could you govern it? If you can govern the people, They will be content, and not against their will. If you can govern the TAO, The TAO can be mastered by anyone. If you can master the TAO, The Tao can be applied by anyone. If you try to control or influence The people, The people will reject you. But the Sage will refuse to make people feel that they are his or his only (thing). That is why he acts according to nature.

How can the Way be seen if we do not know the Way?
Everyone is like a newborn babe, so we cannot see it until it is old.
The Tao is eternal, it cannot be defined; therefore it is called eternal.
It is the universe which proceeds, then stops.
The male and the female, the male and the female, do this, but each has its own unique being and desires.
By describing what is that the ancient ones did, I may describe how the Tao arises and goes away.
The TAO is a cycle.
It cannot be tested or controlled.
Whoever makes laws in the world will get people to work for him.
Who makes laws in the universe will get people to do things for him.
Therefore the sage
The Tao can be achieved only by non-action.

Abandon desire and struggle.

The people and the Heaven have a common urge towards music. The people are much more vigilant and careful when walking. The way the people walk is very plain. They have four arms (both arms and legs). When the people have become watchful, they treat their wealth. When they become lax, they lose their life force. Since everything moves and changes, people are not ruled over. Therefore the Sage, with the loss of life, keeps watch over his people; he doesn't show himself or make himself the owner of the people. Because he doesn't have a show or be in the public eye, he doesn't be found wanting in the universe.

The people's minds are bright with emotion, their mind is sharp with thought. All the people are left in awe of the empire, as if it had dropped a bomb. The people's minds are busy - listening carefully, opening their eyes, seeing the signs all around them. The empire stays calm and becomes luminous. Every step is like walking on the seas. The people, because they trust the empire, experience tranquility. When your ruler acts with impunity, the people will flock to him. When you defy the natural order of nature, people will revolt. When the ruler abuses his position, people will revolt. Only the former results. When the Sage does not claim a position as chief, he lays claim to the subordinate position. If people didn't demand to have what the sage owns, their loyalty to him would not be obtained. He returns home to return to the common folk.

When the rulers and officials of a nation live in trust with the people,
The people all flourish as before;
When the rulers and officials live in awe,
They are naturally angry;
When the rulers and officials act without order,
They are naturally without order;
When the rulers and officials act with violence,
They provoke the people;
Therefore, those who are not arrogant,
Are acclaimed and praised;
Those who are not resented,
Are made to endure.

When the chief magistrate rules by imposing silence, The people's way of life becomes peaceful. When the chief minister rules by offering to be the eye of the state, The people begin to respect their ruler. When the chief minister rules by stirring up quarrel and disarray,The people begin to rumble. Therefore,The wise person pays attention to humility, but the general does not look down.He offers his services without regard for gain,He does not make moves to aggrandize himself,And by doing this makes people the more at ease.

From the ancient times, the invincible, thorns in his path, has nothing in it. He only uses force to cut. He does not fear the people, doesn't fear the land. Therefore he can attack without opposition. He does not value the comfort of the people, doesn't value their land. This is called not feeling self-love, not knowing self, and not giving value to self. This is what is referred to as Infinity.
<|endoftext|>
The sacred tree abides alone; and when it is cut down, it begins anew; it does not fear that which it abides upon, or that which protects it. For it loves neither the people nor the land. It is master of man, but does not love himself, not possessing any personal credit. He does not desire to be preferred to other men; he does not desire recognition or merit. It is because he knows neither himself nor that which he has, that he receives no praise. It is because he does not own himself, that he receives no value.
<|endoftext|>
Tao is not a thing in itself, like something. It is shaped, shaped, so that it can not be cut down.Tao is a perfect seed, which contains everything under heaven, and yet no one uses it.It rolls around all day without stopping. It loves its owner but does not rule over her.It honors her and does not boast about herself. It does not desire a position of superiority, so that it will not cause any harm to anyone. If everyone else can't do it, why should he?
<|endoftext|>
The Tao flows without limit, like the uncut root of all Tao.Without it, the cutting blade cannot grow to its full possibilities. Therefore, it can never be cut down. Its infinite power is therefore infinite, unlimited, without end.And if it were not limitless, it would be exhausted. Therefore, it thinks of no one, that's why it has no great ambitions.

The Tao is not a thing, and so it can be cut down without causing harm.It is infinite, always growing and never stopping. It is indeed like the whirling river, drifting without stopping. To those who are not careful, the river is useless; And for those who are not careful, it is the most valuable vessel. Those who are not careful, to them the river is a watery

The thick becomes thin. The weak become strong. The great becomes little. A good man is, man with a mountain of stones to demolish. Too much goodness must be destroyed! Therefore the Sage knows his own. He does not show himself. He does not exalt himself. He knows what to do, but does not boast. He uses this (the Tao) as his foundation, but does not glory in it. Therefore he is not tarnished (cast into the ground).

The great becomes the small. The great becomes the small. The great becomes the little.Greatness does not shine.Greatness must be destroyed.Dislike not the things which endure. Therefore the Sage knows everything, yet does not shine. He knows all, yet does not show himself. He knows everything, yet does not exalt himself. He knows what is right, yet does not make himself the centre.Because he does not glorify himself, therefore he is not abandoned.
<|endoftext|>
As you can thin the great and become as a pliant little; As you can lessen the great and become as a heavy little; As you can make a great and become as a little,As you can make a great and become a little.Greatness does not shine,Because it is never rejected. Therefore the great master knowseverything that others do not.He understandseverything that others do know.He laughs and laughs atthe world,But does not glorify himself. Therefore he is not cast aside.

Nuts and bolts used to fill the populace with fear; now they are hated. Since there is no fear of them, the wisdom can be operated. The thing people detest is nourishment (Nao) for themselves. The self should not desire this; therefore the Wise Person does not seek to be separate from himself. He may have his own home, but there is no one there to nourish himself. He may have his own father, but no one there to nourish himself. He may have his own wisdom, but it is not recognized by anyone. When no one recognizes him, he chooses one and chooses not to do it. For the sake of his own life, he discards one and goes for the other.
<|endoftext|>
Harsh words will be cast out; their use will be replaced by remorse. Yield to their utterance. The soul rejoices, because it no longer has such a thing as grief. Because the child is not sated, he will be fed by himself. The self is not filled, but fed on the self. The self is not deprived, but fed on the self. The self has no wishes, yet it is nourished. The self does not know itself, yet it is aware of its self. This is sufficient to know the self.If you lack personal knowledge, your self will reveal itself. The soul knows itself, but does not speak of itself. This does not make the self self-referential, nor does it make it self-content. It will then know the self, through self-knowledge.If you do not desire to be alone, you will be alone.

The people will embrace the evil with horror; their hearts will be troubled by the shadows of the evil. Still it will have no shame, no fear of it; for what was there that shocked the people's hearts? It has no matter that they have a body. The body of a body has no will; it will be the same if you love your body with the self-love. It is through love that your body will grow and become strong. Love is the source of strength, and when you cease love, you will be in the place of humility. This is the place where the love of the gods will lead, and then we will know there is the way of the gods.

(the first) name is more divine than the second. A spiritual holy mother Is an embodiment of the inmost essence of things. Thus it is that she always goes with her own plans And not with the multitudinous schemes of the world. Because she keeps her own plans, Then there is no need to be concerned about external affairs. Because she does not have external affairs, Then there is no need to be concerned about internal affairs. This is called the supreme virtue.
The sage has a purpose and he knows how to accomplish it. But he does not contrive. He has nothing to lose, so he does not seek treasure or praise. He has no desires for things, and so is able to follow the Way without end.
<|endoftext|>
Of those who possess great virtue,
Those who possess virtue not of this world's precept,
Will eventually fail to be virtuous.
Those who lack virtue,
Will eventually be overcome.
Hence,
He who is virtuous and loses it,
Excessively so
Will be overcome by it;
He who is virtuous and does not lose it,
Is wholly his own fault.
Therefore,
The master of great virtue never desires to have power,
Never craves wealth,
And does not treasure any object.
Thus, he himself is independent,
And so is not counted among his fellow-subjects;
And is self-sufficient,
And so does not receive much from the world's treasures.
Thus,
The master of great virtue never strives for fame or distinction.
He never sets his mind upon improving himself,
Rather, his main merit can be found in his permanent purity,
And he alone has long preserved his sanity.
<|endoftext|>
Those who hold great virtue
Will fail in their profound virtue
If the depth of the depth is not maintained.
Those who do not maintain the depth
Will be found wanting.
Therefore, being shallow will attract:
Those who are truly deep
Will have more depth.
Therefore, the sage is self-contained.
Is self-sufficient,
Is not dependent on the world's resources.
Is self-ordained,
Is self-transparent.
She cannot appear to others;
And so there is no need to remind herself of it.
So she keeps a single word:
She doesn't shine
And so can never be perceived.
The sage is

Therefore "as wisdom extends and expands" ( , becoming broader and more conceited ), so it also diminishes its being. Desiring to expand and becoming obscure; becoming infirmary, unable to deal with the work of creation; producing great men, possessing little to show them; they become nameless, (suspect); and therefore they are held by (public) ridicule and derision. Therefore the Master acts as if he did not exist, sows its seed but does not empty it.
And as the ocean fades away and flows away, so the great vessels are invented and placed in use, until they no longer work at all. Therefore: (they) make the people stupid, so that they are soon made stupid of them.
Therefore, the Sage acts without wanting to be used, loves without wishing to be loved, does not pretend to be what he is not. Therefore, he has no need to claim his throne, nor to prize his merit.

That which perishes has a greater body than life. It is foolish to fear death. He who does not fear death cannot receive great misfortune. Yet who fear death, nor seek to endure, will never find death. To this is the relation between the old and the new: - One bears his origins, and therefore dies; - He lives and yet endures his condition; - He is master, and consequently does not suffer a hurt; - Thus he has life and yet also is destroyed.
<|endoftext|>
The great disaster is less to be feared than the accidental death of one of your neighbors. Be afraid not of your life, but of your neighbours' lives. For you cannot fear what you have never been afraid of; you do not have to prove what you do not exist.
Thus, the Sage who produces great (ch'ung)by leading people, does not try to overpower them, does not make them inferior; he does not give them status, but does not subordinate them.
For he merely completes his power. That is why, in people's eyes, he has no greatness.

It is the chief that should be small. How can it be so? Simple: It is always the lesser one that suffers. How can it be so? Although it may be with the commonalty, it bears no fruit. What is it that hurts it that it bears it? Its origin, or its bottom, and its tools, or its home, or its support. That which hurts it not, it does not hurt. Therefore the sage follows the greater up to the lesser. He loves his own profit and does not let himself be blameworthy; he loves others and does not exalt himself.
<|endoftext|>
Be sure to be the "commoner" -- how can this be true? When things like wealth and support come into existence, they do not necessarily benefit the lowly. If you want to benefit the people, don't steal from them. When you have been satisfied with your employment, you should not complain.
What makes you think it's better to live in your own home, than have someone else's work? This is only part of it, isn't it? Isn't this the root of all misfortune? This is the root of all sickness.
How much more might we advise keeping to "wholeness," than waste on wealth? We say, "Be sure to be the lesser, then you'll be prosperous," then you'll live well, because you won't be confused. Then be satisfied, then you'll be full, and you'll be always satisfied, and you'll never be dissatisfied.
<|endoftext|>
Peaceful growth is a law of nature.
The wealth of people hardly ever benefit them.
Therefore, the lowliest does not hurt them.
Heaven and Earth only love him, and so are tranquil.
So, when he is satisfied with his existence, he does not try to rob others.
When he finds peace, he does not let himself be touched.
If you love to give up what you have,
You won't feel a sense of shame or disgrace.
For this reason, you will always be free from unhappiness.
How much greater it is to follow the laws of nature, than to seize on wealth and pleasures?
A nature of peace keeps nature within,
Like the fountain of water, nourishing and nourishing,
When it's full, it is still.
When it's empty, it is exhausted.
When it leads you to

Seek balance; rely on the Tao. When people do not hate you, you will never know them. When they have no fear, you will not be made fearful. When things exist without intention, they will not become undesirable. Thus the ten thousand things live in harmony. The ten thousand things love each other, so they become one. The ten thousand things live in harmony with the Sage. The sage lives in harmony with the Ten Thousand Things, so he is one with them.
<|endoftext|>
Even if people think they have no blame,
They surely have a lot of blame.
They may be evenly free from shame,
But surely they are not made welcome.
They may have little fear,
Yet surely they are surrounded.
While they may have many offspring
But surely none are on their guard.
Though they may be loved, yet surely they do not deserve scorn.
They may have a lot of desires,
Yet surely they do not consider things selfish.
Therefore the sage finds true satisfaction in being able to exist without joy;
But he is content with being still with that very happiness.

When people don't hate each other
When people are unassuming
Then they do not hate each other
When people have no regard for each other
Then they will be satisfied
When things exist without a purpose
They are natural
They will flourish
With little effort
Being content with what is
It's simple,

Although people are not always aware of their faults,
They do not let them interfere with their activities.
Even though they have no pride and enjoy being unpretentious,
Yet they continue to be people of great usefulness.
Because they are always mindful of their fellow men,
Their minds are well settled and calm.
Because they do not hold on to pride,
Their thoughts become clear.
Because they are not in competition with anyone else,
Their minds are aloof and uncultured.
Because they do not need guidance from those who are superior,
Their minds are illumined.

With the bow and the sword, victory endures forever. Therefore the Sage once said,The first sword cuts through and endures,The second sword casts a shadow upon it,But the third sword cuts through without lightening it,And so leads with all these; Therefore the Sage chooses and chooses but does not lose;Princes and Kings have no need to be lords or kings,But their duty is to be humble. Thus the follower has no need of any growth but one of sustenance; He thus enjoys life, not striving for growth. The sage holds nothing in disdain and does not venture to possess anything. One's acquisition of much becomes a loss,And thus is bound to return to the Source.

World War I was the worst year for music in human memory. (A good war year has more to be enjoyed, too.) Music in this world is fun, beautiful, sharp, hard and loud, and when there is no music, you might get lost in it. But music when played right has a strong urge to sing and when it is played hard, you might get surprised by it. There are plenty of things to be afraid of if you don't have fun, or if you can't love or understand things, or if you're too busy to get ahead.

The great wars were fleeting affairs.
Truly, the great wars are indeed the permanent affairs.
Long life is given to the truly wise;
long life is given to all of humanity.
Accepting the great, the person lives in peace.
Accepting little, the person dwells in peace.
The person with deep-seated compassion,
accepts the great, the peace is too deep.
The deep-seated compassion is always present in that person.
"Hollow down and there will be no becoming;
fulfill the person and accept little,
The deep-seated compassion is present in that person."

The great campaigns are perennially mourned.
So many things can be endured in one lifetime, And for all that I want more, I must put away the earth and home.
When a man is not dedicated to his kingdom,
He will not have the power of lords and kings.
He will acquire the earth and wood;

Be as sparing as possible, the greatest number of people will take you for fools.
Their Master is not needy.
Because of his state of being, he does not seem like a stranger.
When the people hate, he will be afraid.
Since he takes no pleasure in himself, he will not be consumed by his own extravagance.
For this reason, he follows the common path, but does not self-promotion.
Therefore he has no pride and confidence in himself.
He may seem to be one who has attained enlightenment, but is actually unaware of it.
<|endoftext|>
Give things without deeming them worthless,
Rejecting a place,
Losing your home,
People will do as they please,
And
Hiding in front of their leaders.
Therefore this is the way,
To give everything to help the people
To reject nothing of value.
Therefore,
Rejecting nothing,
Giving everything.
The people will respect you,
And the leader,
You alone, is respected.
In that way,
The sage self-disowns herself,
Seeks to be content,
Prevents self-expression,
So disdains self.
Thus she can be true to herself,
Yet dare not have self-contentment.
Therefore, the sage
Rejects the One,
Attains the One
And self-disowns herself
But renounces the self.
<|endoftext|>
Prefer to not seem different from the world's standard.
Give them little worries: They will be happy to hold your hand.
Desire not to seem different: Their minds will be troubled.
Since they lose the beloved, the mind of the leader will be marred.
This is the way of the Tao:
Give things, not to reap.
Reject possessions, not to hold for fear of loss.
Go toward the Tao, and lead the people.
Do not lead them to the Tao, and they will not have to lead you.
Therefore the sage practices the left side:
Lays low and keeps the right.
Foresight stays at the left side:
Thus the smart leader endures long.
Without anxiety, but with self-control.

It is all for the good. This is how the Tao works.
When everything is done for the good, it is as though an incorporeal Spirit is manifest.
No one will dare approach it.
No one will let go of it.
Nobody is in distress.
No one is unhappy.
This is the True.
No action should be done.
Do nothing that would ruin the Tao.
Restrain the body and the mind,
And the body will not feel all-fear.
Release the intellect,
And the mind will not be confused.
Hold tight to honor and glory
And you will be acclaimed and exalted.
To do both for the good,

That Tao can be applied (to all things) to the best advantage - Is the progenitor of what is now called 'the Tao'.
When the world is without prejudice, And yet not disturbed, And yet not at the loss of all it takes in his care, Is it possible that it will take care of itself in this manner?
Heaven alone, Which disdains to rely on it for guidance, Is forced to recover from his compassion: And if he is in the state of extreme distaste, In whom can his standards of love and courtesy be found? (And it would be enough if the Dao did not hinder him).
He who has made his farm-state, Alone as it were, an outpost - It is no makeshift of where he dwells; He hath no empty place to land on; It hath him ground enough. It hath him a value which will yet hold; No quarreling in it saves him.
Those who should quarrel with it Should have to pounce on it: the ox-cart, in the hands of a great master, Should hardly dare to disturb him.
So he shows himself a good person; A superior one; A lord like himself. He likes to bring honor to his rank And to add more to his fee. In this respect the Dao is not to be avoided.
It can be used for good, not for evil.

The best ruler does not care about the affairs of the state, but wants only to serve all under heaven as the master. Therefore, the people should be led to be content with their need for less, and not be galled by excessive demands for more. The ruler is humane, yet he does not make them show off. He is just, yet he does not glorify himself. He is peaceful, yet he does not force his views on anyone. He has proper lands, yet he is indifferent of the spoil. This is like regarding nature as a piece of glass that should be left without brandishing.

The best ruler does not contemplate the people.
He does not set high expectations,
But sees the people as they are.
He values those he values
Yet does not praise them.
He is kind, yet does not force his views on people.
He is low-keyed, yet does not lose his place.
The people do not harbor much hope,
So when the best ruler is not disturbed by the people,
The people will not be restless.

The best rulers do not sense the people
They are not preoccupied with the people's affairs.
Their ambition is non-personal, like an undivided pond.
Their position is not sacred, like the walls of a room.

And whoever looks at them may say "One's self is like an uncut pearl."
The best is a sacrificial guest.
The worst is a guinea-penny coward.
Lao Tze says:
The best ruler does not set high and demanding motives.
Does not praise his own greatness and position.
Is not inwardly arrogant.
Is not arrogantly successful.

Those who grasp and exploit the vital gases of the world -- food, clothing, shelter -- because of their greatness, become an example for the world. They do not tangle, nor roll up their sleeves, but deliberately contain and nourish the earth. They are untiringly provided, and lead productive lives. They do not regard themselves as great, but grow without blemish. When all people have known the value of humble fame, they will not reject it. They nourish their own being by their own labor. Thus they allow themselves to be restrained, not constrained.

He who knows that the earth can provide for all things and who uses it for his purposes in return, leads them. He gives them but does not snatch, but acts as their trustee, not claiming to be superior, but seeking to assist as the trustee. He never seeks approval but seeks to be admired, he never graces his desires, he seeks nourishment from his actions, and he uses his deeds without expectation of reward. Therefore the sage works, yet does not show. He sees himself but does not judge himself. He embraces life, yet does not lose sight of himself. Therefore, the sage knows himself but does not glory. Do not be extravagantly
Or make a great vassal of the world.
Not forsake a great measure.
Lying low, making a big scene,
Do not trip over things.
It is precisely because one has no "ding" (proclivity),
That one can be high and powerful.
Being high, one will be worn-out.
Going abroad, one will have things forgotten.
Therefore, the sage is humble,

Do not submit to 'absolute masters'. Do not allow 'absolute masters' to subjugate people. It is precisely because such masters do not dwell in the humble that people regard them as exalted. Therefore, only when a great amount of effort is expended on oneself, does one reach 'absolute selflessness' then his attitude will become humble. It is precisely by taking one's own business into one's own hands that one is uniquely positioned to carry on the task of building a great Empire. Do not waste one's energy, only to care for people's eternal needs.

Avoid 'absolute masters.' The Empire will not subsist in loyalty to 'absolute masters.' If one is 'absolute masters' one loses the respect of the people. Therefore, lead by humbleness, let people be your guest. And practice humility, and be at the same time the Tao.

He chooses his work for itself, not as the work of others.A person who knows how things happen is different from one who just hears what happens. He knows what is happening, but doesn't act on it.He acts for the sake of what is happening, not for himself or any particular outcome.

Knowledge - the means to virtuosity: it is self-cultivation
======================================== SAMPLE 1 ========================================
<|endoftext|>
They who follow the Way do not speak;
They alone of all beings by their Tao be silent.
And by it a whole world is enlightened.
The World comes by Tao,
And Tao comes by not Tao.
Nourishing and strengthening the body:
Not words for word, nor deeds for deed:
Yet in deed is it done.
<|endoftext|>
The Koshered person does not initiate;
He alone of the whole Way is silent.
The words of the Way never leave His mouth,
He is not moved by thought.
Therefore the ten thousand things know the way
From his Tao, which takes its name as Tao.
Yet Tao is Non-Tao for Non-Tao,
Non-Tao for Non-Tao, and Non-Tao for non-Tao.
Non-Tao is done, Non-Tao is not undone,
And when work is done it is not done.
<|endoftext|>
Those who follow the Way have no need of words; it is the silence of the Way itself that attracts the world to know it.
Tao is selfless and achieves it through no-doing.
It is non-Tao, and therefore the Way is true.
Its saying is uttered for its own sake:
"It is I who alone in the universe is silent, and yet the Tao seems to be operating."
Thus it happens that although everything has it in their nature to obey Tao, it never desires to do so, and it remains so.
It has fulfilled Tao and did not want to keep on.
Tao is the name of the invisible, yet Tao in itself appears not to be so.
Nevertheless it is the object of all things' attention,
and the same is true of the Name.
What is Tao has no name: this is what the world understands.
Though Tao has no name, this too is the relation of Tao to all things,
and for this reason its name is both recognized and not.
It has completed what it has already started.
<|endoftext|>
The Sage does not display what he has. He is not ridiculed.
He has his actions alone.
The world is made aware of him by his actions alone.
The actions of the Sage, though

For everything there is an appearance.
<|endoftext|>
While speaking, everything seems to be there,
Only when finished are there no words.
When done, everything seems to have life,
And when it's over, it has no more power to die.
<|endoftext|>
When words are used up, they tend to be completely empty.
When finished they turn into words.
When they have left, they return to their original form.
<|endoftext|>
The effort of speaking is sufficient for all things.
When complete, the speech does not make any sound.
When complete, the book contains nothing to satisfy desire.
When finished, everything seems to be complete.
But all things seem to have some vacancy.
This vacancy is not at all on the one hand full or on the other empty.
<|endoftext|>
The Tao appears to all that look; then it ends.
The Way appears to all that listen.
All that listen cannot hear the Tao.
The Way appears to all that touch.
The touch cannot hear the Way.
The Way appears to all that come.
Those coming cannot hear the Way.
The Way appears to all that go.
The way goes on in front of everyone.
Because everyone goes, the way goes with them.
<|endoftext|>
Discard words and you will perceive the Tao;
One who speaks yet sees only the shadow of silence has Tao;
One who lays his face upon the Book yet cannot touch its substance has not Tao.
When there is no reason to desire, words without action follow;
When there is desire, action follows.
A few are given words but never enough to complete the Tao,
And then by generation follow cold-hearted deeds,
Grasping by force at the hand of the one,
The people fear, and will seek,
And never leave with a happier world.
Hence all things come from the Tao;
The Tao stays in their life;
Whereby they move toward lightening, the dead that did not grow old.

Abstinence

The sage sees what others do not see. The wise ruler views what others do not see.
These two are independent of each other, yet they go together and set forth their work.
One may seek to think and may find oneself deluded. This is called the dark in many things. The sage knows what others do not know. He is therefore trustworthy. The Wise Person may become the foolish and many things will be discarded. This is called the bright side of many things.
Those who know that endure, who rediscover, emerge from the dark.
He who seeks for the bright side of things will perish from being dark.
If one tries to see the end, one finds oneself late. To see the dark end is to see what is there.
The way that leads to the bright end
Is called "no end."
<|endoftext|>
To know that we live in Tao is to have everything.
To know that we live in an imperfect Tao is to be a prisoner of imperfection.
To see that our journey is on a path that leads to Tao is to be trapped in the aftermath of the Beginning.
To be trapped in the aftermath of the Beginning is to be inscrutable.
If you try to use it to make sense of things, you'll fall down the dark abyss.
Thus the Sage possesses all things. The wise ruler holds to All Things.
Thus the Sage - (and so) the Wise Man - is virtuous and righteous.
The Supreme (and so) is that which cannot be told.
So what is seen is not reality.
So what is not seen is not real.
In the realm of Oneness -
So are few and far in number.
In the realm of Oneness -
Thus are few and far in number.
Thus is the more cleverness the more cleverness.
It is without thought, so cleverness is hidden. It is without direction, so direction is transient.
Thus, cleverness prevails, and the more cleverness it encompasses.
Therefore, one who is able to achieve His eternal destiny is capable of realizing all.
One who is capable of accomplishing the eternal destiny is capable of returning.

Knowing the Tao is as many things as your belongings know the Name.
Knowing Name is as many things as your skills are.
Knowing skill is as many things as your powers are.
By being and being without desire and intelligence there is the work.
Not desiring and not having intelligence means existence.
Dying and existing - that is the Tao.
If the gods and men do not see it then it is beyond their power to be seen.
It is one of the rare things of the Tao, the highest mystery and essential mystery.
One who knows it and does not shrink from it can accomplish all under heaven.

Know the Tao (Kung tzu).
Know the Way (Yun-hsin).
Hold fast to the One (Chen yi).
Pour life into all things (ch'u ming).
Accept all things, accept non-being (pu yi).
Reach all things.
Do nothing.
This is Tao (Kung tzu).
This is the Tao of the collective (Yung tzu),
the Way (Yun-hsin) of the teacher (Yueh tzu),
the Spirit of the (T'ang) (chen yen) (wu chien).
When the DAO and the DAO'S teachers (wu shih) and students (wu yuen) receive one another in the Way (Kung tze),
both maintain them without exalting their self-interests and without giving importance to their personal activities.
Giving importance to their personal affairs - this is the gateway to the Tao (Kung tze).
If the DAO and the DAO'S teachers and students (wu shih) and students of the DAO, (wu yuen) and DAO, (wu chien) lose the Way (Kung tze),
they too will perish.
Thus, the great Mystery (the DAO)
is attained by knowing the Simple (the Way),
but it is only achieved by seeing its Simplicity.
Not realizing the Simple, not seeing the Simplicity,
there will be no seeing the Simplicity.
Who knows the Simplicity but does not see the Uncomplicated?
then sees its Great
======================================== SAMPLE 5 ========================================
Why does the Tao think that it is going to speak: It is the Dao that it can speak to.
<|endoftext|>
The Dao never talks, yet cannot be told from start to finish. One who speaks is incapable of knowing where it's going or what its end is.
The Dao does not argue, yet cannot be refuted. It is always going on and has no end.
Thus the Sage:
Dull and forward, yet there is nothing unbecoming;
Low and hollowness, yet one is unknown;
Intimates and unpretentious, yet one is so bright.
Let the Wise Man of old:
In quiet and not speaking, he had confidence;
In hollowness and glory, he had status;
In subservient and unprofitable, he had flaws;
In humility and not dwelling, he had worth.
This is why the Dao says:
"I alone can speak and know the whole truth;
"I alone can roll over the earth and not be hurt;
"I alone can be humble and not boast,
And can have nothing and return to nothingness;
"I alone can be gentry and so do not attract attention;
"I alone can be gracious and have no ill-will;
"I alone can be humble but have no servile base;
"I alone can be in no place and not deviate from the regular course."
<|endoftext|>
The great master of the time never spoke, yet he had wisdom.
He who speaks has no understanding of himself.
The way he follows has no end.
If he did not follow, how can he know the way?
All people think they know and are the same; they seem to have no limit.
They are soft and pliant and ignorant and so easy to be taken.
Those who make statements are always in advance of others, always ahead of everyone else.
They are always in confusion and have no ideas.
They are the least, most, and most, and nobody can understand them.
It is foolish to insist upon being right or being wise.
What is being said must be said.
What happens must happen.
When the Great Master leaves the gate, no one can open it.

A car has no trunk but it makes a great trunk. The Tao makes no words but it cannot be uttered. It is always unsparing. Always doing nothing, it achieves its purpose.

The Way has no destination and cannot be desired; everything is without end, but nothing is possible to stop. Therefore, the man who is aware of the Way can describe it clearly.

If you wish to be like an infant, become a newborn. To act you must be gentle. No action is flawless. Complete, flawless, never getting better. Do what you must, no one can stop you. Become a newborn that has yet to be born, never ever be rejected. Become a newborn and never be rejected. Be constantly renewing. The Tao does not act but will endure. The Sage does not act and does not fail. He is at peace yet unconstrained by any other actions.
<|endoftext|>
If you want to be like a newborn,Keep your breasts full. And give everything its chance,Or even if you try to be strong and perfect,You will still fail. Do what you must,Only make nothing come out better. The Tao does not dwell in this world; Therefore it never fails; If you want to be like a newborn,You can only nurture this one. That's how the universe depends upon it:Never become weak, never become deficient.Be like a newborn.A newborn in its infancy is without fault.Never cease to be newborn,And it will be forever genuine.
<|endoftext|>
If you would be like an infant, be full-grown. You must let go what is not effective,You must let go of what is not complete,And you must keep your behaviour void,Whose effects never take hold of.Beget a thing that is without a soul;Yet who, in spite of possessing something unshakable and self-willed, Has yet any intention of bringing it into being? The void will always have been there, from which there is to come forth all things from nothing.By virtue of its vacuum is the world made;Who thinks of himself only as he is, If he were not thus to exist, would soon perish.
<|endoftext|>
To know how to behave like a child,In order to be like a newborn,In order to complete what is not accomplished,In order to refrain from acting out of resentment,

From the beginning of time till now there has never been a time when Tao was forgotten.
Therefore, everywhere the following Tao is: The Way; It leads and does not interfere; It covers and does not shed light; It endures and does not fear; It finds and does not take; It brings and does not reject.
From the beginning of time till now has never been a time of lack of Tao.
Hence, Tao alone is un-deceitful, and the Dao alone is not self-righteous.
Wherever Tao abides, there is Heaven; Wherever Dao abides, there is Earth. Hence, Heaven and Earth are also Heaven and Tao; Similarly is the Way to be.
That is why the sage prefers Direction and not Direction alone. Therefore he never delights in the mere Dao. Thus he will attain the stature of a Bodhisattha.
In these words I have said nothing is wrong.
Direction is Direction only; It never makes a mistake. Its heart is soft and its mind clear. It guards its body and loves the world.

The way of heaven and earth is not perceptible by the eye; it is never like to be seen.
The way of the things that govern the ten thousand things is not within our reach; therefore it remains invisible.
If we were able to perceive it, it would be luminous.
The way of the ten thousand things is inexhaustible; therefore it is without value.
So, also, if we could grasp it, it would not be devoured.
The Tao of heaven and earth is so vast, that it is beyond human reach; therefore it is inexhaustible.
That is why when something is so vast, it can be grasped by no effort, but cannot be devoured.
It is the Tao of the ten thousand things that is the way of being without desires, of taking without self-interest, and of serving without loss.
The beginning of all things was caused by ignorance.
He who is at peace with himself, has his true self; He who has no desire can never be without heart; He who has no self-interest can never be without heart; He who has no self-interest can never be without anything.
<|endoftext|>
The way of heaven and earth is not seen;
The way of the ten thousand things is not sought.

The universe is infinite, but it is infinitely small. Since the beginning of time it has been evenly divided into infinite parts. The ancient culture uses words to describe its internal workings, but the Inner Being is not identified with the words. It does not make distinctions, it gives names to things. The Inner Being does not care for its belongings and preserves the space that no one else can achieve. It is like an all-submerging river; permeating the whole realm, never shutting off.
<|endoftext|>
Nature is omnipotent, but it is not omnipotent; Heaven is omnipresent, but it is not omnipresent; The Dao is omnipresent, but it is not omnipresent. Tao is not omnipresent, yet its Dao is there.
<|endoftext|>
All things are equal in their tenness; there is no less.It has been all-over-by that. The ancient way used to be;Now the people used to use:Hence we have names for Tao, and the Dao; yet it is something else that we call "this."Therefore it is from the nothingness that we have the idea of Tao;It is in that it is not everywhere that we have the idea of Dao;It is in this that we have the notion of the Dao;and if it is not everywhere that we have the idea of Tao, it has a way of following it.
<|endoftext|>
Nature is infinite, and yet it seems to be infinitesimal. It is called the nameless source, but it is not the source of the world. Heaven is infinitesimal and nebulous. It is called the beautiful; therefore we call it the Tao. The Tao is non-existent and the source of the world. If heaven were less powerful, the Dao would have no need to supply it with power. From this it is that all things follow the Dao, but only the Dao follows them.
<|endoftext|>
All things are equal in number. That which the universe cannot be divided into.Nameless is the source of the universe.Everything grows by itself.By itself, it creates the ten thousand things.By itself, it sustains all things. If the universe were not so powerful, it could not be omnipresent. And the Holy Image is a manifestation of the universe. It is the
======================================== SAMPLE 9 ========================================
Applying Dao to the external world, we must observe that it is only the manifestation of the original spiritual essence within the world. The name "World" arises from the Cosmic "I" itself. From the Cosmic "I" there is a realm of space that can be named. And the realm of space will be named so that, at some future moment, people may relate the experience of Tao to a world.Tao is far away but can be known by the world.
It is the nature of Tao that it is in conflict with everything.
Why conflict? That is why it is real. But so is everything else.
Which is why it is more like the Tao that it is constantly at war with everything.
Tao seeks to be everything; the universe wishes to be everything, but is always in conflict.
The universe is in conflict with itself; therefore, the universe is truly everything.
We must understand why. Everything must have a kernel or foundation, which we find in the Tao.
If we compare the "mystery" of Tao with the Tao of ordinary life we will find it is in one sense a mixture.
In the chaos and confusion of life, the essence of each finds its source in the One, whose essence is always and everywhere.
Therefore, one who is adept in Tao finds a mysterious sky, the source of heaven and earth.
Those who are ignorant of Tao find the same void.
In confusion and the emptiness of chaos, the heavens and the earth emerge.
These emerge through this chaos, through this void.
This emptiness is the source of all things.
It is because of it that everything exists and is alive.
The Tao is not for the self. And even if you choose to be "the Tao", what's inside the self is not your goal.
It is always beyond you.
It's for the vast collective, the one, true, and by nothing.
And this is the secret of your utility.
<|endoftext|>
From it sprang the universe,
For the cosmos seems to have no female,
The unknown mother could not but be the origin of all things.
Mysterious as she seems,
She seems to me; and if we examine it, we find,
The myriad things come to it;
And we see it all, then a beginning.
This we call "The unknown mother";
The unknown mother is thus the world's
======================================== SAMPLE 10 ========================================
The Tao does not do things and it cannot be done. It cannot be done, it is far-reaching. He who does things knows not the means, but he moves towards the end of his ways.
Abandon the present and there is the present; Abandon the past and there is the future; Abandon desire and there is the Tao; Abandon all (the) passions and the life of a real person.
Be contented with one's bodily relations, your self, and the world; Being content with the world, there is the future (the future of the universe).
The Tao does not change but lasts forever. It may be called invisible and yet it is real. It is limitless.
The Tao acts as a guide, without power or knowledge. It has no name and it may be called infinite. It is invisible, yet it is real.
It is unknowable, yet it is real.
Yet it is the most profound of all secrets
The Tao is great and you should not be afraid to embrace it.
<|endoftext|>
The Tao is profound, and yet all beings are all the same;
Even though things appear to be different,
The subtle essence remains the same.
Thus it is that subtlety can appear without visual appearance,
and images appear without sound.
The essence of Tao cannot be visualized or
photographed;
but when it is embodied in things, its true qualities manifest.
The way is infinite, and yet it manifests in only a few simple details.
It is the very essence of all things, and its members must be equally present
to the life of the Way.
All human activities, no matter how noble or centered,
require to look to them for guidance. The Tao is invisible; it cannot be seen;
yet it permeates every detail of life.
It is the Love of the Manifest and the Hidden that initiates the whole of life.
The Tao is great, yet we do not seek it; we travel with it wherever we go.
The Tao may be considered invisible and yet it is all that exists;
yet its truest and most profound essence is present in the smallest detail.
Thereby is the source of all.
For, the all comes from the nothing.
The Tao is full of ideas, but the Tao is never taken seriously. It may seem
