When the untamed fruit of Infinity (Nature) is cut, a fine pattern is produced; When angry, a calm response is given. When fearing, gentle gentleness is given. The female of the universe exists to yield to men, and becomes the king of the earth.The male of the universe exists to yield to men and becomes the servant of heaven.All these two - in their female aspect - share a common cause: their conscious desire to be what they are not, to take possession of what they have, to be the beneficiaries of what they are not. Therefore, the loyal follower does not claim mastery; the powerful does not boast; the durable does not try to intimidate; the masterless lacks confidence; those who lack valor are the first to fall. This is the nature of loyalty. This is the spirit of stubbornness. This is the world of Teh.
(Ordinary people would hardly notice this,)
But the Master practices the Way in order to justify the results of his actions; he is not arrogant, nor does he try to intimidate, nor does he boast of his results, nor does he insult, nor does he boast of his results, nor does he violate, nor does he break, nor does he falter, nor does he retreat, nor does he retreat with disgrace. This is the Tao of Tao, but the lesson of Tao is found in the Way.

When the faithful person is uninvolved in all affairs, the good do not compete with the evil. When the proficient is the good and not the bad, the wicked never win. When the best in the world is not like the average, the experts do not know how to manage the masses. When a leader is inattentive to the main point, the people are confused and go to action without knowing what is happening. When an inattentive leader is like a master, the people are all ahead and there is nothing you can do about it. So the intelligent leader shows himself not as a bad person, but as a good one. The people, expecting honor and success, forget their real nature, they can be defeated by the inattention and lack of concern. But how should you act when you act in harmony with the Way?
<|endoftext|>
When it is a misfortune that was the outcome of an unwise man, then the good will go to it. When it is the worst that is meant, the bad will take it. When people fear that the bad will be put out

TAO is eternal, forever NOT wanting to possess it, therefore it doesn't depend on being given. Having no desire for possessions, you have no need of receiving it, and so you don't need to dwell on what you do have. The Tao master is constant, forever being present, never losing his ability, never losing his steadfastness, never losing his impartiality. By not dwelling on this, no one who meets with him dies. He takes no pride, doesn't brag, does not brag of himself, so the rest of the world would not consider him unworthy. He is different from the others, because he is without partiality, without desire for possessions, without desire for leadership, and consequently, he is safe. He has no fear, so the world would not be afraid of him. He has no desire, so the world has no desire for him. Like these, he is always of use to them, and will not diminish in the end. Because he has no desire for possessions, he has no desire for success, and therefore the rest of the world can depend on him. He has no desire, therefore the world can take care of him. This is the way that the teacher can always be of use to people.
<|endoftext|>
If you cling to Dao, You do not depend on them. You do not possess them. If you lose them, you lose them. If you live for them, you live for them. Therefore the truly good do not act virtuously, They do not compete, They do not show themselves off, They are not arrogant, and they do not have many possessions. They are free from desires, They are like rocks, that rock does not crack.
<|endoftext|>
Tao is eternal and true, yet not possessing. Do not act with desire; you will never tire. All things spring from the same source, so why show yourselves off?The truly enlightened are not arrogant; they have nothing to boast of; they have no accomplishments to boast of; they are as peaceful as rocks on a hill.If you make people feel proud, you lose their faith.If you treat people like brides, you lose their loyalty.Therefore, the best leader does not do anything flashy,As the wise person knows all too well.The truly wise are not arrogant; They are never arrogant, and they have no reputation.For that reason, the world considers them untouchable.If you do things

For the warrior, there are four methods of war, all above Tao:
To first try to take charge;
Then, show how much you are in charge;
To last long in order to act righteously;
To be ruthless, and then have no desire to retaliate.
To be ruthless will only lead to failure.
Therefore, Tao is the Highest Virtue,
To go deep,
To withdraw oneself completely from all!
If one can go deep, then he will only be able to withdraw himself;
If he will only keep in harmony, then he will be able to be one with others.

When the wise officer relies on using weapons only, he comes up against the TAO! This is the light-hearted of worldly weapons.All weapons will not be used if there is no counterforce.The best martial art may be confused.If the warrior is careful to learn not to use weapons, then he has not overused weapons.The best warrior has no desires to conquer and take others.The best leader must be humble and does not possess a high position.This is the Way of TAO.

The military cannot lead without the wheel, The best fighter cannot rely on mastery, The best warrior never loses control of his spirit, The best warrior never loses his daring, The best statesman must be humble and be in the forefront, The best leader must be strong in his command, And no warrior can touch him, If the warrior should lose the way of battle, the war would end all the same. This is the Tao of the wise, those who do not fight should not be used as weapons, Those who rely on mastery never lose control, Those who never lose their pride cannot have much pride, Those who always go ahead know what to do and how to lead. This is the Way of the Awakened Man.

I have a great work to do
And I cannot leave the front door.
Those in authority are not as clever.

Always find the essence in your work, as the master always finds the essence in his work. When a man is supreme in his craft, he is also supreme in his craft. When a master in his arts is crafty, he is also crafty. If a man's craft is subtle, it is easy to miss. When his skill is brilliant, it is easy to overestimate. When his power is great, it is easy to destroy. In all things, the master is one with Tao. And when Tao is lost, he is without a master.

He who has won the mastery of Tao is not truly master, and thus not thoroughly nave
He who does not lose his mastery is not truly master, and thus not wholly nave
He who gets back his mastery is not master, and thus never completely lost.
He who stays with the right way is not greatly master.
His ability to do the right thing is beyond his ability to not do the right thing.
He who is master of the natural world is superior to the physical world, and yet is in that position.
When Tao is lost, the natural world is left unattended.
He who will never lose his power for the sake of such becoming, is truly independent, self-contained, self-sufficient, self-lover, self-gracious.
Without Te, all things take shape and become realities.
When Te ceases, all things depart from form and become opposites.
When Te abandons, all things return to the source.
The entire universe is the domain of Tao and consists of things of itself.
While Te is lost, all things blend together.
Though life itself is not Tao, but this merging of things
======================================== SAMPLE 10 ========================================
Tao alone is lost.The Masters alone attain perfection.The hundred-thousand qualify in the world.The 10000 are surrounded by Tao.
Teh lies on the left; so Tao on the right.
The wise man follows Tao's right path; the warrior follows warrior's right path.
To a master is attained only to perfection.To achieve is only to human arrogance.Human arrogance leads to misfortune.The perfection of the Tao lies on the left; the left lies on perfection.
<|endoftext|>
In regards to the way of Teh, it is said:
There is something too great and Powerful,
There is something too great and Powerful,
There is something too grand and Great,
There is something too fine and Light,
There is something that is beyond understanding.
That is why, the warrior,
When confronting a warrior,
Follows that which he feels:
The leaders of the country,
Being greatly informed,
Follows that which he feels:
The leaders of the country,
The high-ranking politicians,
While being greatly informed,
Follows that which he feels:
The leaders of the country,
The officials,
While being greatly informed,
Follows that which he feels.
That is why, he who is self-centered,
What is best for him,
Is to follow Tao,
Therefore, on the left,
There is what he desires,
On the right, what he feels,
And the skillful general
Is on the left,
There is what he seeks,
On the right, what he feels.
Therefore,
A scholar in this is to look for the Teh,
And not to have self-interest.
If it is sufficient for him to follow the Way,
And not to have self-interest,
A warrior he is to follow on the left.
And a general is on the right.
Therefore, when a warrior looks to be above the general,
He is to look to the warrior as to the general,
When a general looks to be below the warrior,
He is to look to the general as to the warrior.
Thus, he is not able to desire the one or the other.
Therefore,
He is only above it as he wants to be below.
Therefore,
A true general is not in the first position,
And so is not a general of that.

Knowing the profound truth means that you are not a pretender.The foolish dares to argue a big, personal battle in front of others.I think that wise people stay quietly in their core and don't fight over things, or try to compete with other people.In a battle, it is always the fighter who wins, as the battle never ends. Being modest and caring for other people are traits which no one in the world could honor.This is the way to leadership.I would like to hear about the way that Tao rulers treated others.When the leader speaks about Tao being eternal, I could listen to him because I respect Tao.

Wise leaders know the way of the Tao And do not claim their position as master.

The good ruler does not play the part of great yet is grand in deeds. He is kind to people, not oppressing people. He has strategy and could not achieve victory by force. He is diligent and complies. He is good at doing things, therefore he gets results. Good things come easily. Good things are not dull. Good things are not always hard to get. Good things are not the things of the moment.Therefore the good rules avoid these.

If you lead without becoming great, you become great. If you are kind to people, you treat them with compassion, never force them. If you work hard, you will obtain results. If you are skilled at doing something, you become knowledgeable. If you are strong, you become strong. If you are kind, you become kind. If you have merit, you are worthy. If you are obedient, you are obedient. If you are deep, you can accomplish. The most clever man, even the one who can play the polo-stick, has no intention of straying. For he just gives his mind and body and lets it go.He goes and wins, and that is enough. A wise person is not distracted with what people do to him; he can't avoid his own body. Yet he doesn't interfere at all, and lets others do their job. With self-control, he achieves results, and again, he isn't sure which has happened. Why not? Because he is focused on the results, not the experience.
<|endoftext|>
The most proficient man, whether he excels in arms or wits, does not attempt to force what he considers his right, or achieve himself. As for strength, he rests on his own ability to stand firm in battle, And because he can stand firm, he gives up nothing.It is because he lets go that he can act, And even acting, he never loses faith that all of the work has been accomplished. Nay, to follow the lesson: If you really want to know the lesson, and you are a man of trust, I advise you to seek the light that shines so plainly, the student of thsi Tao. See now that there is a whole world of men, who do not all welcome your light. This is the worst to trust in. The leader of a nation should know how to use that light and stillness. Let him guard against the spilling of that light. That is to say that he can govern a nation without climbing too high, and he can govern a nation without killing people. To do so would be to destroy. This is called the dark side of virtue. To hate people and blow their own horn is to be the worst path. This is a good example.
<|endoftext|>
The truth is not to be looked for; The eye that has it is looked for. And that which the leader calls the light looks so dark. King-honed ministers who live in light, May profit thereby, and keep their country free from war. The light shines everywhere, This is the deep truth. The darkest is called a kind of clarity. It is to rule, and not to think, The government which the kindest may serve. The kindly one does his job, The kind act endures, And the shepherd's work is done. To act for the purpose of making his goal is a wonderful kind of clarity. The worst, the darkest. That is an idea of the ancients.

To know the Truth is to follow the Way of the Tao. The Way is not to be seen, it is to be found.The Way of the Tao is without point; the leader who looks for it is ridiculed.This is the greatest folly.The leader who is a follower of the Tao is worthy of praise.Those who are good at using the Tao will be peaceful.Those who lead by the Tao will be secure in their dwelling.Those who use the Tao will be productive of it.The worst is not the Tao, the best is the way.When you are of the Tao, no one can harm you; when you rule by the Tao, no one can hurt you.Only when you know the Tao can you be benevolent. Only the Tao can strengthen the leader. The Tao will do this by the example of the leader.In times of bad rule, the Tao is the master.

The best general, he who is not afraid of losing the war, is the best general.
The greatest achievement, he who employs all his strength.
He who approaches it with humility, becomes the greatest.
He who serves with moderation, becomes a brother.
He who uses all means to achieve his ends, is his own master.
In this way:One who is great is a great sage,

In the last analysis, his actions are the work of nature.

Those who are good at winning are rarely afraid of losing the war, nor are they afraid to lose a victory. For this reason, if a conqueror is afraid of losing a victory, that fear is also based on cowardice. But those who take possession of the country (of Tao), if they are afraid to lose it, must also be afraid of losing their government. To lose the government is natural, and therefore he who tries to control the country is naturally like a natural ruler. For this reason it is said: "The best general fears losing the war, and seeks the victory with trembling. For, being a conqueror, he seeks the victory with trembling. For that reason he succeeds with trembling, and is the lieutenant of the commander-in-chief." This is called, "Man achieves by acting, but when success comes, he does not bray with excessive self-approbation."
<|endoftext|>
How can you win the war? Do not think of winning it lightly. Such a process is rather slow. It means that the war is won, though defeated. The defeat is because of cowardice, not strength. Do not rush to victory, but prepare for victory. As a means to this end, be humble, be modest, and be a ruler of the state. Those who have gone before (the past) were not afraid of losing. So this is the secret of glory. Now, with great men, they do not go for glory. If you do not go for glory, it is hard to motivate people. Since they will not motivate themselves, they will just throw up their hands and say: "Not good!" Those who succeed in using this way also gain true greatness, even without using great force.

Those who are good at loving are good at loving. Those who are good at skill will be good at skill. Those who are good at command will be good at command. It is because of that which is the master that I do not think it wise to fight with them. Those who love and do not hate can be their good love, and those who are skillful in winning, can be their skill winning, those who are good at disciplining, can be good at disciplining. To know the not-knowing is to be one with the fullness of space.To know the named is to be at one with the smallness of space.Know the not-yet-understood is to be at one with the fullness of space.Knowing the named is to be at one with the smallness of space.Knowing the not yet-understood is to be at one with the fullness of space.Knowing the not yet-understandable is to be at one with the limit of space.Therefore the wise are never angry,Always calm and very humble.They are always adept at taking advantage of opportunities and giving opportunities away.They know the potentialities of things,If needed,but don't let them take the lead.They treat what belongs to other than themselves as important.This is called being one with the Unfathomable.The Tao doesn't always shine so it can be the constant.

When you are absorbed by great insight, you stay aware of what you already are.When you are absorbed in great danger, you stay aware of what is right.When you are absorbed in great satisfaction, you stay aware of what is needed.When you realize the many flavors of life, you stay aware of the many ways to enjoy the fruits of life.When you value all creatures above your own self, you stay aware of the many ways to do the deed for yourself.This is Tao.If you are not very angry when you get angry, you will not be easily angered.If you are not very sad when you get sad, you will not go crazy.If you are not very selfish when you get greedy, you will never become egocentric.If you are not very selfish in spite of everything else, you will become very egocentric.So the great Tao is constantly at peace, always free of hollowness.

What is infinite, we love.What is finite, we fear.What is unknowable, we fear.What is expansive, we enjoy.What is limited, we control.How could being one with the Tao be difficult? How is the universe so small?It is not in ourselves that we are small.It is in others that we are great.True wisdom is impartial.It never grasps at the point of confrontation.It never does violence.In this way it is one with the Tao.

To put off action - this is known as 'carving out the door.' To put off talking - this is known as 'flowing back a stream.' To put off artifice - this is known as 'alluding a flower.' To put off stealing - this is known as 'toiling a hundred years. To put off nourishment - this is known as 'giving up a tree.' To reject honesty - this is known as 'exceptionally high.' To reject ritualism - this is known as 'atrocious.' The wise man is always like this: cutting out the door, not opening it. Appealing for the worthy, not relishing vulgarity. Fashioning piety, not acting. He gives and he gives freely. He allows and he lets. He asserts and he asserts willingly. He rules and he rules without ever seeking acceptance. For example, he chooses the mausoleum where there is nothing to be mausoleum. He walks the earth with hardly a care.

The teacher is the least of all places, the most amazing teacher. The teacher is the king, lord, deputy governor, head of state. All things come from him, but he teaches them how to live. Because he does not contend, he lets them flourish without restriction. Because he does not abuse others, he strengthens them. Because he does not play the role of the ruler, he establishes some order. This is the quality of the sage. He does not criticize his teaching, and therefore shows no hate. He teaches without boasting, without boasting, and without arrogance. The teachers thus occupy the one spot that is the most important; that of leaders. The chief cares for the things that matter most, the humblest people need no guidance. And the sage tries to use them for the purpose of life, not to dominate them. No one takes the place of the teachers; but as the Masters, we give them their special place.

He who rules by the most proficient rule Is laissez-faire in his disposition. He who rules over one is [in] violence. He who rules with violence He takes with him with violence. He who rules with violence.Will do to all creatures with violence.To take possession of them is with violence.To do violence to them is with violence.Because the righteous are not violent.The man who is in the lead is not subject to violence.The ruler, even though he presides over violence, Is not distinguished by it.The ruler never attacks;The man of violence never succeeds.How good is his teaching! Those who follow him Always say: You should not be harsh with the whole world; The man of the least is not harsh with the world; The man of the most is not harsh with the world.Thus we see that the righteous cannot be harsh, The man of the least can not be harsh, The man of the highest can not be harsh, The sage never over-rulers, He follows those who are least effective. Wise people avoid those who delight in the Tao.
They guard the hidden roots of the Tao.
The Wise Person is not clever and claims no credit.
He remains modest and becomes a center of gravity.
He isn't contentious and is never "right."
He stays grounded and becomes the middle ground.
These are traits of the Tao Way,
and the reason the Wise Person is not impacted by violence.
In the light of the Tao Way, violence
is not among the DAO's arms.

He who is thus ordained to lead his people,
Must be circumspect;
He who is endowed with the Spirit of the Tao,
Must be on guard;
He who possesses the mind of the Tao,
Must be supple;
He who is steadfast, though hard to control,
Must show mercy.
Is this not the law of the Tao?
That who conquers underlies,
Can overcome,
and have no enemies in arms.
He who governs others
Is impartial;
When he does so,
He keeps to a small sphere
Of absolute kindness,
And he does not explode in passion,
To either hate or love,
Or show them how violence sometimes nourishes.
For all that, we have rules of common consent
And universal codes of conduct.

The good leader does not assert his might. He not gets angry when forced to do so. He does not lash out after his subordinates when forced to do so.

Never erupt in this respect.

If only you did not want to be afraid, no one would ever be afraid of you.
If only you were not concerned with what others think, and just lived by your own merits, you would not have to compete with anyone.
If only you were not shy, you would not have to hide who you are.

Cautiousness means serene indifference.
Cautiousness means not fearing violence.
Cautiousness means there is no desire to be offensive.
Cautiousness means one who is clear of his own motive.
Cautiousness means there is no pride in the accomplishment.
Cautiousness means there is no arrogance in asserting one's power.
Cautiousness means one who has the least desire.
Thus those who attain Perfect Tao in this way are just, and do not compare themselves with anyone.
To attain this Tao is to be in perfect harmony with Infinity,
and not to see the advantage of competition or showing off.
Thus it is that the best and the worst come in equal measure.
The worthy succeed and do not strive for the self-endowments.
The undesirable is rejected.
Those who are without striving, are without (visible) competition.
When no competition occurs, no conflicts ensue.

I do not try to impress others,

The people who have true understanding want to avoid war but are never happy and therefore must have peace. The people who are happy are always killing each other and yet they do not want to die. The people who destroy each other cannot be happy yet they do not want to die. Therefore the Taode cannot find harmony in killing and then rejoicing in killing. Violence produces harmony. When the people like killing and then rejoice in killing, that's called insincerity. Violence is against the infinite nature. When the people like killing and then feel sorrow for killing, that's called what is called a great desire and one who seeks turbidity. They realize that turbidity is not what Nature wants. And that when they accomplish great accomplishments, they are not returned to peace and harmony. The military should be avoided in order to preserve peace and harmony.

The good man hates war.
The foolish man values peace and tranquility.
And evil men cannot find balance.
Therefore the good man will not use force.
The foolish man will use violence.
And the evil man will use ignorance.
Hence, one who does not use force and force,
will cause no harm.
One who does not use force and force,
will cause hurt.
And one who does not oppose with force,
will inspire no response.
Therefore, violence is inauspicious.
And there is the following way.
After a war, the good man loves peace and rest.
And the foolish man does not glorify war.
Thus the good man endures war without killing.
Then he endures peace.
After peace is won, he is again a nuisance.
And the next war will not end the good man's long life.

Force it. Hew it back. This is called the way of Heaven.
(When it is truly) Those who don't grasp it, can't be rejected.
(When it is) Those who use it, can't be tested.
Those who are forceful and strong. Can't be beaten, cannot be deprived.
Those who are cautious and peaceful, can't be broken, can't be overpowered.
When Heaven is at rest,
Its forces are great;
Its people excellent;
Its reputation unimpaired.
It is called "toughen the overgrown."

The strength of nature is applied only when it is fully abundant, not inattentively.

You're not lost,

The ten thousand things abide in it, and he makes no provision of them. This is called the ancient virtue. When we go from being to being, we return to non-being. When we make provision for all, we have only ourselves

Do not fight to win;Instead use your subtlety to give opposing views.Therefore, eliminate arrogance, defeat force, confront enemy, surmount defeat.
<|endoftext|>
Do not go to armsAnd fight to win; Do not seek a cause for armamentAnd seek to act in conflict.One who seeks success is not true to themselves;One who seeks defeat is not true to oneself.
<|endoftext|>
Do not conquer others because they are too strong. Achieving your goals simply means that you lack determination. You are a person of experience but fail to achieve anything.But if you have genuine self confidence, you will experience success.Confidence has its limitations. Only when confidence is lost, does achievement fade away.Confidence is no substitute for energy.
<|endoftext|>
He who strives to act as an eleron will not be able to overcome men.He who wants to defend himself against force will not be able to conquer;He who thinks himself good will not be able to maintain a high position.When a man has confidence in himself, it is not enough to see that he is good.But when the trust is taken away, the man who is good will have no place in his mind.When confidence is destroyed, good people will disappear. When loyalty is abandoned, great power will vanish.Therefore, the one who follows the Way takes hold of the heart,and by taking hold of the heart,he can find what he seeks in things.

Fierce opposition may work to weaken a man's strength but it cannot be used to strengthen him.Hastened conformity is only a passing block.How not to fight?And this may be applied to the three under heaven.I do not wish to appear as a proud man - I am far inferior to the world in this respect.The highest man in heaven is in me,But he does not dwell far away from me.He does not contrive to show off - it is a great advantage for him.Such strength I have from myself.To want to have it - all this I do not feel like it.I do not venture to pursue this, It is the way of Heaven.The world should be constantly from that person,Or else he will go far away from me.He who is clever in manhood is his own elder brother.This is an aspect of the Way.It is the Way of Heaven.We call it ancient, everpresent.

If you are fearful of an enemy, do not be offensively hostile.What is the advantage of war if people do not fight?What is the advantage of arrogance of superiority if people do not oppose the army?It is because the people would not oppose the army, that these things should be thereby regarded as a blessing, and not as a disaster.Thus the Master, in dealing with men, does not claim to be the sovereign, and does not attack people to humiliate them; this is an auspicious phenomenon. The people take it for granted that when they are in harmony

It is as though the stilling of one's force of will on earth is a brief rest,And perhaps even as though the return of the Dao were the first resting place,That a man might regain his original nature.What can be said of reason, To live by another than the white and the black?What is going with justice,Is it not with its own satisfaction?Hence the strong man takes no violence,But never loses sight of his purpose;He always knows he is right.For if he does not know this,He would not be fit for duty,And the people would not need him.Not naming names is my duty to the world.That is the Master's way of being.Truly, only he who follows in accordance with the Tao could be called a servant of the Tao.Why should we think that his new teaching is new,He who gives himself as one loses his original nature?

Heaven and earth were there before the king was born.
When Heaven and Earth were there before the king was born,
Things have been made.
The Tao does not take action;
In its action, it is without boast.
Its actions are without pride;
Their actions are without cunning.
Therefore, it is said:
The Master does not act cunningly;
He acts without feeling of pride.
He acts without cunning;
He acts without knowing of fall.
He is a model for the common people.
This is called Virtue.

When the leaders have different views, All who follow must also be separated
From their bums.
When they are separated, they are attached to their roots
The hearts of the people are most pleased
And then it is not necessary to be so fond of them
Be tender toward the inner self of people
Seeking selflessness, they no longer find it necessary to act by force
The strength of the Tao doesn't try to make things happen
Because it doesn't do anything, nobody does it for it
It works through men and isn't voracious for them
And this is the virtue of Yin and Yang
The leader must not let fame come to their heads
That too is a virtue to be remembered

When both leaders are in agreement and agree, unity is achieved; when one is in disagreement, the result is discord.
The two result from people seeing the parts of the whole, rather than being the parts of themselves.
The side that sees the parts will say, "What a pity! Let go!"
And the side that sees the whole will say, "How amorphous

To become effective is not to act with arrogance. To achieve a goal without resort to violence is to be victorious. For victory, violence is not the only way; no violence in battle is likely to be effective.When people fear and fight in front of the battlements, as in theatres of war, they blow strawhorns and play loud music. How ridiculous! Those who know the doctrine of non-action are cautious, even cautious with their enemies, making no active action and yet enjoying victory. Those who are victorious of the way of war are men of ability, who can use skillful strategies to meet a difficult opponent in harmony with their intent. For these reasons, when the rulers who knew the Tao lived according to it, they were not aggressors, nor agitated in battle.They were not hasty and belligerent in their calculations.They did not expect victory or resist them with violence.They did not brag of their superiority, nor show off their own superiority.They were not forced to compete in many displays of force, because these would bring no resistance from others.This was the way in which they were able to accomplish victory.

What does the TAO mean? The eternal way and the consummating act of Heaven. What does Heaven do? It creates what It wants, but never acts on it. It acts on it, and therefore it acts upon nothing. If heaven were like a man, It would not be fit for being a lord. If a man were like a valley, It would not deserve being a valley. If a valley were not honorable, It would not deserve being honorable. If a lord were not worth being a lord, He would have no room to act on them. Therefore, the TAO means: the permanent Tao And the eternal deed of Heaven. The perpetual act of Heaven: it acts never and never. And yet it acts on nothing, And so it acts upon nothing. What is permanent and everlasting is a form in the Dao. A form in the Dao is the truest form.
<|endoftext|>
What does the DEF say about being eternal? The DAO says that there is the eternal Cause. The DAO says that the eternal cause is the cause of the entire universe. The whole universe is governed by the eternal Cause.
The Principle may be compared to the natural governing principle; For these two principles work in opposite ways. The natural governing principle is constant; The constant governing principle is transient.
But the TAO does not wish to be considered as timorous. The TAO is in reality eternal.

In the ancient world,There were heroes of supreme virtue and virtue's abilityWere less than what today is called saintly virtueAnd less than the modest and beloved virtue of a decent virtueAnd much less than the polite and amiable virtue of noble virtue.
The saint is distinguished by the mastery of virtueBe it a jade, model, mansion, mirror, mirror mirror, mirror.
The natural virtue of the ruler - being responsive to reality:is likely to lead to severe disapproval and even assault.
Wherever a virtuoso appears, the natural virtuosity is met by a bland like the ubiquitous one.
The substitute might be different - an ordinary type and personality - but the blandness of conventional virtue is the criterion.
Here the natural virtuosity is prevailing and another styleof performance will conform to the natural propriety - a person.

A good person engages himself in modest affairs and, embracing no private interest, accomplishes. A mediocre person engages himself in more important affairs and, embracing a private interest, accomplishes less. He who makes no enemies with words finds people receptive.Those who are moved by deeds find the will to do.His methods are non-violent.His creatures obey.The hearts of others are kept alive through inaction.Leaders allow people to evolve, since this nourishes the more subtle evolution. When good men are not wise they find audiences receptive. When those who are not wise see good deeds done good deeds are done. When good men are not bright their own deeds are not obvious. When things are not vigorous they are moved to move them away from danger. That is what the universe does with people. Those who are faithful, long to guard against danger. Those who are strong, long to avoid danger. People who love each other endure. This is the nature of saving integrity.

Like the root, a gentleman has experience in ruling,And thus is competent in any peace.Like the root, a gentleman understands the needs of the peopleAnd serves them through his words and deeds.As a gentleman, a gentleman takes no advantage of a victory,Like a gentleman, he takes no advantage of a victory,And will not commit a victory,Even though he has a victory.A gentleman of war lives in peaceBecause he knows that success brings many defeatsAnd that he can never afford to lose again. As a warrior, a warrior lives in battleBecause he can take no delight in victory,If he has even one, he does not enjoy victory,And will never again have one.When one of us gets killed, he is missed. When one of us dies, he is returned.This is called Dao Virtue,and it is called the Way to life.All things depend on the Way of life.In war, the warrior needs no weapons,he prefers to be patient,and lives his days with the honesty of a guest,but the warrior of faith sees victory and loyalty as just a victory,and will not participate in victory.Dao virtue, having fought and survived,never dies.He thus never loses sight of victory and loyalty.

Don't dish out blows in public
But take a stand when the occasion calls.
Don't want to assert yourself
Even when you've won a battle
You'll always remember it's been by your own strength.
When dealing with people, don't say I got the victory
That only shows that I'm a fool.
When having a drink in a bar, don't talk about how you were really hammered
Because it'd only get you into trouble.
Letting go is taking charge
Never blaming the men you surround
But preferring to rely on the leaders on the grounds of natural love and intelligence

Let there be no satisfaction in victory
And fight with no animosity
Restrain men with fair responses,
Put a halt to the flowing of trust,
And consider the merits of a warrior
As if a virgin, Mother of all the world.

The best warriors do not stand on the battlements, for the reason that battlements are weak points; Therefore they stand on the plain without equipment. The greatest warriors are peaceful, because they never venture to act (or fight) in battle. The truly great ones are known for their unrelenting selflessness, because they never venture to act in battle. What makes them victorious is that they never think of defeating. The great conqueror is a one who does not use violence, being no warrior himself. The best are not highly esteemed, because they are not involved in conflict with anyone. Therefore, they are like the heavenly instruments, called sweet and mild. This is called the supreme one. They act on the lowly as the great one, and so carry the work of heaven. The truly great conqueror is one who uses nothing, but is freed from the need to fight. This is called the ability of loving the people. The master uses not fighting, yet as the superior one, he is able to do nothing. This is called the capability to act upon all things. When a land has been peaceful for long, the nation takes no actions. When the earth is strong, it is peaceful. When a master acts the way a child acts, he never fails to be moved by the mysterious. This is the use of the people.

Thus the most skilful officer, though only a lieutenant, is the direct action of his superiors. Thus the skilful commander, though only an officer, is the direct action of his superiors. (Thus) therefore the greatest leaders never stop using the excellent but so that the whole army remains unmoved. Therefore, a truly excellent general does not lash out and greatly advantage, But calmly gives orders, as a very good student. Heaven doesn't make great armies. Peace doesn't make great armies. The great conqueror does not fight to make conquest. Such leaders are inexhaustible. So the best commander will respond to the lieutenant as an inferior officer. This is the ability of honoring service. The greatest conqueror responds to the lieutenant as an inferior officer. This is the ability of honoring his subordinate. (Thus) the ability to honor the soil of heaven. Is this the ability to use heaven as a helper? It is called like Heaven of old being so yielding as not to oppose! To this no argument is allowed! (Such) capability is the ability to use men. [A military strategy] is the ability to use war as a tactic.

The skilful commander never sets an example, so his subordinates learn to follow his example. When a superior serves in authority, the subordinate might wish to follow his example. When a commander does not act alone, his subordinates might wish to follow his example. So, the skilful commander doesn't expect anything of them; he uses the ability to command. The man of God might inspire a war, but he neither stirs up to fight nor orders others to do so. He rules as a valley of sky, not as a great head tower. He never engages in worldly affairs; it is when the needs of his people demand it that he resorts to active power. If the head man has a task and needs a reason, he will value the respect of others. And so, he trusts the land. In his dealings with his people, he meets the king. He has faith in the relationship of man and nature, even in the seemingly insignificant matter of battle. All rules are built up by expecting the sufficing. To what end does "base work" have a say? It is the use of the Tao to enforce on man. The man of God simply provides men with a purpose.

No efforts will be made to compete, because no one can achieve success unless he breaks off from those who have come before him.Man who acts naturally lets go of the ego and becomes objective;thus, he reaps the benefits of a benevolent and humanitarian state,and the peace of the world.By imposing this principle, the prince may order his officers to be friendly, to manage wisely, and have the ability to know the correctness of their own actions.Such insight is greatly useful, yet the general has no need to use it;that is how he undertakes a great effort of his own doing. If the country needs to submit to such a strong ruler, the proper function of the ruler should be to communicate with the officers of this world by being mild and kindly;this may be done, and the general is unaware of it, because he is acting properly, as the kingdom need not submit to such a ruler.
