He who has the love of the Way travels all over the world without return, He is quiet and avoids all conflicts.He is calm and avoids all temptations.He has not passion and does not do anything!He spreads and leaves nothing.The taoist likes to maintain a single central hub without opposing anyone.To avoid doing anything,The taoist cannot compete with anybody.He can work at any thing but can't work for it.He does not desire to be rich and is not surrounded by all good things.He likes to know all and has no desire for it.He has no need to compete with anybody and therefore can accomplish all things without any competition.The taoist like to know all and does not wish to know anything.He is free from desires and does not want to know anything.He loves all and wants nothing for himself.He does not believe in the past and does not want to believe that anything is learned.To know and to know also. This is called the deepest essence.He regards all things as essential and never desires anything.And he has the inner good fortune to reach the very end without fearing any one thing.He likes to experience what is happening and not dwell in it.Therefore, the sincere student of the Tao never tries to enter the material world but knows all through this.

A traveling traveler loves all the time. He travels everywhere without a thought.He never rushes forward or puts off his steps.He travels and leaves nothing behind.The Way he honours without fuss and never disdains.He goes everywhere without becoming busy.He never lives and forgets.He is quiet and in harmony with the Way.He spreads and leaves nothing behind.He leaves no place without creating a place.He travels without ever moving.He never accumulates and becomes possessed.The Way honours the ten thousand things and never desires any.He is free from desires and neither wants to obtain anything.He is free from desiring, and thus has no desires.He may treasure everything but not think of it as treasure.The simple observer, a traveler, loves to travel all the time.He sees the great danger with his left hand and so he travels with one's left hand. The subtle observer is a traveller at heart and takes a rest after leaving the fields. The subtle observer never values materials, to the point that he never even looks for anything.The simple observer is always in touch with

To know and take care of all things at once is to go in safety.
To know how to practice a Tao is to be protected.
To do well is to be watched.
To do well is to be obtained.
To not be good at all is to be a thing to fear.
To remain good at all is to be free of any blame.
To be free of blame is to be an intelligent creature.
Those who know when to stop to recover peace
Return to the present moment of Perfect Peace.
Therefore, the sage learns to be aware of all things at once,
knowing that he is to be entrusted with All Things.
He knows that he is to be entrusted with All Things but that he is to serve All Things.
He knows that he is to serve All Things but that he is to be entrusted with All Things.
He knows that he is to be served by All Things but that he is to be abandoned by All Things.
Because he is free of blame,
He never comes to fault those who have done rightly.
Because he is not embarrassed by doing so,
He never loses his way.
This is called the exercise of the highest goodness.
This is called being of the left hand and being of the right.
By being thus one with the cosmos, one attains enlightenment.
By being thus one with the Dao, one attains wisdom.
By knowing one's Self and having self-knowledge, one attains inner peace.
By knowing one's Self and having self-knowledge, one attains freedom.
Thus, the wise man never denies self-knowledge; thus he never loses sight of the Self. Thus, the wise man seeks to hold to the Tao but does not cling to the Dao. Thus, he holds to the Dao but is not attached to it.
The Self thus remains the Self of the Wise One, while the Dao is concealed and unreal.
Thus the Dao is the "right" way, but self-knowledge is a power of the Tao.
Knowing self-knowledge, self-knowledge is the true Self.
Being self-knowledgeless, self-knowledge is also true.
Withholding self-knowledge, self-knowledge is sufficient.
Doing self-knowledge, self-knowledge is a constant.
Knowing self-knowledge, self-knowledge is not dependent on anything.

The imperfections of the Great Way are apparent to everyone, Yet only those who are in a state of perfect serenity, Able to remain in meditation (quieted thought) until they come to the Perfect.

Many things are rough about an imperfection,Even when polished and sharpened.Not enough rain in the valleys!Not enough rains in the valleys!Only when the roots ripenDoes the valley grow;But when the tree withered,How much less will its sprouting be?What can be done before the beginning?Heaven and earth,O, before the beginning?Give order, give shape,Follow the motion of the Thread,Which became insignificant in itself.Tissue that grows,The roots cannot contain,Thus the strength of the original seems exhausted.Thou wilt abide in the same harborWhere nature flows without returning to the Inhabitant,Grasping that which occursThough it does not hold out for money or glory.

To the best of our knowledge, there are those of high rank who hold fast to the Way. I could name a great many who take this attitude, but it is by staying in the beginning that you attain success.I could name many who try to perfect it, but they find no success and therefore fail.What can be done in order to have longevity? What can be done to bring harmony to the universe?A great hall, an expansive verandah, the harmony of nature, what can you do after this?. I'd rather stay in the valley, and enjoy the children, than to resort to the heavy rock.I'd rather end with a hundred thousand things, than pursue fame and fortune.This is how one who knows the Way must act. If they have strong principles, they are unfailingly true. This is how they succeed.

The great ones hold to the Tao,And they rely on the stable peace in themselves.They allow the minute things to grow in themselves.They let the great force of the universe by themselves.And as for the hollow wind and the bad wind,They let the nub of the earth and the root,And lets the small matter (the earth) grow.And let them flourish till their softest,And let them carry off everything.But the wise get rid of these things,And they have longevity.This is why one who goes

As he who begins to understand the Way is knowing that things were once misunderstood, he should understand how things arise and how they are rooted out. Understanding how things arise, one can know how things return. This is to know how things were; seeing how they have come to be. This is the quality of the natural adept, the highest of his kind. The attainment of the perfect understanding of the natural and what is without accomplishment of this nature has no value; the attainment of the perfect understanding of the natural and what is accomplished of itself has a high value. In seeking to realize the perfection of the natural adept there is no inattention to what is happening. With the natural adept there is no lack of experience. The natural adept is the ONE true nature, one which can be called godlike, which is no others than a mother. Being a mother, she does not become overbearing, to say the least. She does not push men's interests. She does not seek favour with the world. She does not exhibit herself as the sullied goods of the world. The common people call her from afar with nothing but innocence, "the as yet unknown". For all this is how the godlike is born. The natural adept is the common, the unbidden, which one can not master. What the adept never masters the people call 'modest' and 'ugly'. Such are the dross that the adept keeps in his heart. It should not be attempted by him. What he has no desire to rob, he devotes his life to helping to preserve.
This way of practicing the Way is: to see the Way as though it were there; to see the Way's action as though it were happening; to observe how things come about; to observe how things vanish; to see how things arise; to observe how they become; to observe how they disappear. These are the four qualities of the Way, and those which are pure. Yet who has not arrived at them does not try to preserve them, who has not corrupted them does not salvage them, who has not confused them cannot cause them to change. He can put them back where they came from, but the Way is not put back; it is the very force of things, and consequently cannot be despised. The reason why it is not despised is that it discards no things; and this is the essence of its greatness.
Things cannot be preserved who does not keep them alive by making use of them.
Where there are things which

He who is well grounded can overcome the multitude of calamities; and he who is in motion and too contented can endure the experience of grief and suffering. If men dare act with foreknowledge, that is to say, proceed to their own affairs, this will lead them to failure; and if they fail to act, they would be compelled to resort to force and violence. The good scholar behaves honourably but does not presume to act, and acts without taking the active part. Those who are prudent about their business take the active part but do not venture to act themselves. The good trader takes the active part, and does not venture to act. Those who are social become officers and officials, and take active action. They never contrive to bring about any thing of which they are cognizant; and they do not meddle with the affairs of the world, not even though they are conspired with in a great calamity. It is impossible to get hold of them all.
And yet, the trunk has always been there.
It is the root from which the whole is made.
A good general is not active in taking possession of the way;
A good general does not desire to seize all things;
He does not desire to dominate all things.
But people of different kinds love to do things, and none of them is safe.
They work at them as if they would always stay at home;
They do not do them as if they would never fail.
Do they not consider that there is plenty to be done when things are quite easy?
Simply remove the worries, and one will find he has nothing.
If a man sets out to get his work done, it will end.
If he tries to finish the work himself,
It will end.
How people forget!
The job is finished.

The fast-talking philosopher is rare in comparison to the man of the Tao. Thus the latter is passed into Tao. The latter may be kept for ever. A still wind will gather to itself; ice, like a mould, will soon set loose. How it may proceed and how it may not proceed depends on a sound analysis. If the "temple" is great, and the ten thousand things seem full, how soon will soon-looking and listening followers depart from it. If the "temple" is the last, and the ten thousand things seem no more? The Tao that we once held is now reduced to nothingness. Therefore, it can be easily discarded. Without desire we may regard it as the Tao. Without longing we may regard it as our misfortune. As the Tao is in all things and all things can be depended upon, it is possible to carry them far.

In Tao's early days the most elegant spoken words were found in the reach of the Tao.
The lowness of the Tao is that which can be feared by its use.
Though there be things which may be overcome, the first conquest may come into being.
The loftiest thing to be held, the first obtained, the tiniest shall soon fall into the wading pool,
The first about to be set up, the first foundation to give place to, the most small may be wrenched from the floor,
The nastiest thing in the world, the world's last for some time, in a split second, may present itself.
Tao is a supple thing that cannot be bent. The form it makes cannot be carved out.
The Tao is the source of the worlds.
It can be thrown away.
And be as one with Tao.
The highest peaks will not be enough.
Abandon the earth's foundations and look up to the Dao.
Dao is like water,
Eternally a root that can not be tampered with.
But it never seems to be defeated.
It flows in all directions.
At its source it seems to be without shape.
It can be seen even through walls.
But even the wisest man is apt to stumble.
They look for the perfect beginning,
While the Tao is lost.
Act thus, and the way will find you.

What is at rest is easy to return to. What is yet to come into being is easy to govern. Things that are moving and bumpy go back to their origin. Things that are hard and rough break down. Things that are small are easily grabbed.
The closer one is to the primal simplicity, the more one can rely on this primal simplicity. The more one is aware of the cyclical nature of things, the easier it is to follow along.
The second best thing in the world is the ignorance of others. Therefore, a humble person never considers himself or herself 'first.' He or she doesn't need people's praise or praise is treated as someone that anyone would want to follow. He/she does not expect any return because he/she is simply sharing the common pool of life. People always have needs so if they are aware of these then they can anticipate what people will need. For they cannot turn this ability into supremacy and to claim that they can take it over is to rely on materialism and inhumaneness.

Goods are at rest, they can be used. Bad things are hard to use. They do not grow old, they can be preserved. But things that are fluid, spring to life, do not harden, they break down. Small things are easily handled, many things are easily done. The wise man does not refuse himself to the material world, he does not let his unformed being get to him.

Things that are small are easily destroyed. Things that are not solid break down. Things that are not simple are easily broken down. Timidity is its own path,
Goodness begins from within and never ends.
Tameness is its own standard,
Better to have what you need than to be over-thrown.
When your left hand is thin,
Throw it away.
When your right hand is limp,
Throw it away.
These three
Set the standard for what goes on to the left,
And what goes on to the right.
A big house is built on a base of one's own bones;
A tower stands on the foundation of one's own hand.
The ten thousand travelling chars turn a circle around their own container.
The fulfillment of your wishes comes from within,
The downfall is born of without.
These three
Who follow a stance (yeh) are not enough to be a model for the world;
Whoever follows (yeh) is at best obliged to be the model.
Keep to yourselves, even the base is likely to collapse;
Whomever you want to help, you must first be able to help.
Therefore the wise never wish to excel others,
So they have no desire to fail.
Even when you are closest to exhaustion,
Always keep to your feet.

Soften your tangles,
If they cannot get hold,
Stretch them.
Pay no attention to its own leanings,
A big house is not built from mounds;
A great tower is not built from terraces;
Such towers gradually get smaller,
So they gradually shrink;
Better to let the small hold the big;
Better to let the weak hold the strong;
Give place to the extreme;
Get rid of the left of the right.
So you will keep your centre:
Then you will be strong.
Thus the Wise man works within his purgatory,
Lessens his excesses and gains at all times his inner self.

He can lose his excesses,
And will find his inner self as solid as his Karma.

There is one way to take action, and that is to keep a low profile. All things will come in their turn to you. When one of these comes in time you will either accept it and reap its harvest, or reject it and reap the fruit. Everything, as one gathers, eventually ends up.
Therefore the Sage of old, does not dwell in the following;
Being bright, to stay in the light. Being thin, to stay thin. Being frail, to stay frail. Being old, to stay young. Being in disorder, to stay in order. Being alone, to return to the embrace of the One.
<|endoftext|>
Always get ahead of yourself.
The next is easy;
Then take restful rest.
Everything will come in sequence again.
Therefore the wise man keeps his mind at peace.
He does not dwell on what is small.
He stays strong and allows things to go.
He does not tend to what is frail.
He takes action and rejoices over what is accomplished.
He does not insist on what is not complete.
He does not possess anything.
He lets all things go their own way.
He is always at home.
<|endoftext|>
If you have to move ahead of yourself to accomplish something, and the next step is moving back to the condition that you were in before, it's a quickie. What will happen? All these actions will come back to you again.
Keep calm, and the next thing you know, your breath becomes rough and turbid. It gets even worse when you try to do something you weren't before.
You may bristle when you say the word

Once you reach the end of your rope, you can stop.

you have reached the beginning of your rope
In this way,
the true sage has no motive to move.
He doesn't move until he has reached the
end of his rope.
<|endoftext|>
You can stay ahead of the times,
and then the next step will come.
Nothing is so easy. If it comes,
there's the next one.
Let go of any clinging.

When people alone oppose each other, they offend each other. When people debate each other, they get quarrels. When people shape each other, they mold each other. The most successful man cannot command the people. The most intelligent man cannot control the people. The most careful man cannot guard the people. The most inflexible man cannot please the people. The most brilliant mind cannot find useful solutions. He stops here. He knows the Tao. He does not brag. He forgets his lessons.

When a group of bandits converge against each other,
there is always tension, and the tension will only be greater when they split apart.
When some argue and some don't;
only then will the contradiction be resolved.
<|endoftext|>
When a group of bandits cause trouble, there is an uprising.
They are well armed, but nobody is able to put down the big dogs.
The big dogs are overprotected and the bandits are in jail.
They go one step ahead, then they stop.
The fundamental difference between them is in the timing of the action.
A group of bandits walk ahead and stand still.
At an extreme distance, the busier bandits don't stand out.
Their timing is different from that of a group of bandits who are advancing on an enemy.
Their timing is less stable and less steady.
The way that matters is that of the simpleton.
Without the basic values in one's life, you can't resolve yourself to the true way of life.
The basic values in one's life are that of the beloved.
You do what you have to.
You don't force others.
When you can hold on to the way that was before,
you can endure the kind of life that is now.

A man of action is slow and full. A man of rest is calm. A man of action in action is born, and a man of rest is born. Both are natures lost. Neither has purpose.
<|endoftext|>
To the putative sage we give an account of the manner in which he happens to appear at the first meeting with the Marquis of the Cardinal;he is so manifest as to render his appearance inaudible.A man of action is quick of application.A man of rest is slow of application.A man of action in action will make his appearance at an early period.A man of rest is without an appearance.A man of action is too old to appear.A man of rest is too young to appear.The man of action that's ready to make an appearance has lost his purpose, and is therefore abortive.The man who is ready to make an appearance has lost his purpose, and is therefore successful.A man that finds no business, is ready to lose one.A man that finds that things are so done that he cannot see them, is ready to lose sight of them.The ancient custom of yielding and affirming does not suit this very movement of life.The scientist seeks nothing (which his task confers).The humble man of action sees nothing (which he succeeds in pursuing).The unmoved man of action sees a lot.The un-moving man of action is all-subdued.In his plans (for carrying them out) it is easy to see that he has no life.Without life, he may require no signs.This has happened to him by necessity.Only he who has no life could come to need them.He who has life, must to some extent depend on them.Not lacking in vitality, yet without being animated, he may be led by the natural authority of Nature, to observe that it takes him what he seeks, not what he wants.He who is light-headed (among the multitude of men) considers it a vice to be light-headed, and may therefore experience no trouble, and more trouble than others.That which is hard-hearted (among the multitude of people) considers it a very great sin to be hard-hearted, and may therefore laugh aloud at his activities, and fail to attract anyone's interest.It has happened that the ancient custom (of wanting nothing for his own sake) was not so well suited to the action of his years.

There are great Achievements achieved in the world through many small things. We look for small things which are little in themselves, and say things which cannot be helped. For example, do not want what you have, or lack what you have. And if someone tries to make you act and succeed or fail, it will be because it cannot succeed. It is hard to make people successful at nothing. We should not try to make people succeed with nothing, or use them for nothing, or use them too little. It is foolish to presume that "you have nothing to lose". If you want to save all things, one should let them work without you and let them be done. Therefore, do not strive for what is most precious, to get all you have, and nothing more. It is better to have nothing than to have no place to live. If you want to live in harmony with the earth, give up selfish desires, discard possessions, lose yourself, and live in the heart of the earth.

What is great is hardly achieved at all.What is very good is nowhere to be found.What is in short is weak is found everywhere.As for what is not yet accomplished,How much the more difficult it is to get what you want.If it were only up to me to refrainFrom workAnd to not meddleWhat difficulty to accomplish,Could I strive for to attain?So the Sage at once makes a ground openAnd sets up a small one.He also begins his own constructionAnd fills up his own cisterns.Is it then that he doesn't know to stop the workAnd stop to not interfere?So one who's aware of the truth in everything must not try to maintain his natural tendency.Therefore he does not desire what he has and therefore does not lose it.But even so he's not sure if what he has is enough, and therefore will not involve himself with things that he himself is not sure about.So if he's aware of his natural tendency,He must also be aware of what he himself is unable to do,And thus will not cause that which is impossible.So he will live on a source of nourishment, and will not strive for things that would not be sufficient.For he will cultivate the universe and not strive for anything.And so he's without pretensionAnd quite without pretensions,And he does not like distinctions.Therefore he's not as wealthy as he is known.The point

The sage never appears strong; Everything is nothing, They see him without seeing him. The sage never seems empty; Everything is full, They see him without seeing him. In antiquity, it was the weak that we saw: the empty sky, the deep valley, the wisest woman, the longest journey, the best fruit, the greatest profit, all its humble origins all came from the 10000 years before Heaven and Earth were born. The upper reaches are not the centre of the Universe. They may be considered the point where all of creation begins. As such, they are the only place where one can hold onto faith and trust.
The Inner Man often acts simply out of love for his Inner Life.He tries to push his beliefs about the Universe forward and has no wish to receive stimulation. But there is a substantial advantage to being unfaithful. Although the Inner Man will push his claims, he will find that the more he pushes, the less his claims seem to come.

The Way gives rise to all the outcomes of action, as an image that has no firm center. You see, Tao is like a vast fleshed-out channel; within it is the ultimate truth. It is near and invisible to others, because it has no beginning. Thus, Tao is loved by the greatest of men, but regarded as an extremely foolishness. By respecting Tao as an extremely foolishness, it makes it less widely known and less not rejected.
Tao leaves no traces, even though it has a space of approx. 10000 square meters. Yet it is so long that it cannot be seen. The only thing that can follow it is Tao, so let no one (besides Tao) look for a place to go. Thus, Tao is left unmolested and uncontaminated. If one does not have an ego, then nothing is removed. In this manner, Tao is left untouched.

Like the well-grown strawberry, soft and tender, yielding without effort, it is a dish for guests. When a ruler makes a show of his power, he sets the world on edge; his statements may seem tone-deaf or even misleading; his words may cause perplexity to others. But be wary of practicing a metaphysical knowledge. To act by power is not the most effective way of governing, and a forceful countermeasure is not the best way to bring peace and harmony. In this respect, the wise man abides by both, and yields to neither. If power has the potential to be just and peaceful, it brings little to this world, and tries to dominate it is when there is conflict and confusion. The smart leader is content to let things unfold on their own.

Whoever acts with coercive power always loses it.

Direction of Unity Is easy to hold,

So firm is loyalty,

That tangle of chara or lie.
Here is a seed, simple and yielding,
Hence its growth.
Here is the thread that ties all things to one root.
How was it that the Te reached its perfection?
Because he was contented with what he had.
Because he wanted everything to be at his pleasure.
Because he had no ambition.
Because he valued intelligence.
Because he valued tradition.
Because he valued righteousness.
Because he valued benevolence.
Because he valued humility.
Because he valued order.
Because he valued the Way.
Because he loved the Dao.
Because he enjoyed the world.
Because he could remember nothing.
He loved a trustworthiness that was wise and his love he found valued.
And he loved a trustworthiness that was strong and he found trusted.
In that way he was the closest to Tao,
and so he could speak the truth,
and therefore he could live the life of the self-glorified man.

Without trust and there will be no need to give a reward;
With trust and the need for rewards there is no longer such need for giving;
"Wholeness" is always free from need for reward, and its simplicity leaves no treasure to be desired.
Piety is boundless in its unlimited attainment,
and there will be no need to search for any more treasures.
"Skillful one" is never deceived by this praise:
"His hands are clean, and his conscience clean".
The destiny of these two things is the same.
The reason that he who is not content is content is the same.
The reason that he who is not quiet is free from ambition is the same.
A person who has no plans will not take up the destiny of others.
He who has neither the desire for self-achief nor the desire for prosperity,

The sweetest wine is the humble vessel;The worst liquor is the dangerous substance.This is why we distinguish between purity and impurity.What is unpalatability has no substance.What is frail has no strength.What is insufficient has no space.What is weak has no strength.That is why moderation is the essence of the sage's virtue.He constantly refrains from being strong and will continue to be so in the end.But when he begins to accumulate personal success and is about to take a step further, he will remember and abide by the simplicity of the sage's way.He maintains to act from the substance of his faith,And seeks therefore the deepest unity.He will not seek, and so never fails.Therefore he does not display his love for the people.He will not drink up their pride,And so he can act without pride.He is not seeking to profit the people and so he will not be robbed of his faith.And so he becomes a leader of all people.The sage accepts the various people's views,Follows their inner intuition.And so he acts, not from love, but from reason.He follows their inclinations,And so he accepts their merit.Thus, he fulfills his purpose as he acts from the depth of his sincerity.

He who knows the value of subtle qualities will find the perfect emptiness.He who knows how much things are can't live on them any more.He who knows the limitlessness of Infinity will not let go of any.And he who knows that only from other means can he return home will not let go of anything.He who does not reside outside can live inside.To live inside the man of the light is good.If he is occupied with the heavy things he is unhappy.If he can rest with the heavy things he is well.To put one's self inside the beloved is the best way to settle.When we are close to the beloved it is good to hold on to him.When we are near to the beloved it is good to leave him. If he is not near to the beloved it is good to let go of him.A man who is virtuous in his heart does not wish to control the men of this world;and so he does not prevent the men of the world from their functions.Such a man is a treasure to the whole world,And the men of the world cherish him as a treasure.He knows the purity

When a ruler is constantly going out of control, There's going to be confusion everywhere.
When they control the citizens evenly, People will gradually learn to follow the laws.
When they spend a great deal on using the State, It will gradually become superfluous.
When the biggest tower is erected, the biggest door is built. When the best music is produced, song and words will arise.
When the biggest treasure is hoarded, it will vanish.
Therefore, the wise who can master everyone
Must be tolerant of the multitudes.
That is why they don't try to dominate people.
Because of this, They will never fall.
They practice 'the Tao but not the Tao'
To benefit the people
And to foster the harmony of the universe.

When the governing government is at its greatest, then the populace will gain wisdom.
When the leaders are far ahead, then the populace will learn to follow.
When the resources of the government are overspent, they become useless.
When great terraces are built, great hallways are created.
When fine music is produced, people learn to sing, 'The best music is of necessity nonsense.'
When fine knots are pulled, then ordinary knots grow.
And when a great clue is found, there is a lot of activity, the populace becomes restless.
When the government is difficult to control, then there will be disorder.
The people can therefore be helped only through giving,
The way the people now are.
<|endoftext|>
When the Duke and duchess are constantly surrounded by titles, and the policy is constantly followed, then the people can be led easily.
When the Duke and Duchess can be mollified by being surrounded by all kinds of things, then the people will gain simplicity.
When great gates are built and great terraces built, then great academies are built. When great music is produced, there are numerous instruments produced.
When the great knot is pulled, then there are many knots (climates) [made].
Therefore, in the government of the sage, one should:
Watch over his own state as he is doing things.
Without taking advantage of what is around him and without constantly wanting to be all over it, one can be a good governor.
The sage achieves his goal but does

Good actions are disliked by those who use them.Bad actions are disliked by those who do not use them.Being and nonbeing are never opposites.Therefore all good actions are seen by people as not being and not being are seen by people as not being and not being.Therefore good actions are the choice of people who choose not to use them.Good people are long since forgotten because good people prefer not to use good actions, and the bad people are long since forgotten because they prefer not to use good actions.Therefore the sage uses the best that is available in the world and gives them to the world.If not perfect, she keeps them in the world, and if it is not perfect, she produces a new one and uses it.The sage uses what is available and gives it to the world.If she is not perfect, she gives it to the world but not to perfection.Because she does not complete everything, the world endures because the world does not perfect itself.

Good deeds are disliked by those who use them; Bad deeds are not known by those who do not use them. The subtle secret of all affairs is the stable and constant state of the mind, the direct opposite of that which is always moving and conscious. A tower that is three stories high
Is a piece of earth.
A journey of a thousand miles
Must be completed by walking a single stride.
How am I to act

A ruler who is too complex
Can't keep pace with the way things are

When they are no longer needed, he uses them but with great care. When they have become useless, he uses them, but sparingly, without haste. He uses the returning-player to return his people. When a good is known, it is easily forgotten; how do I know which is good?This. By this! I know which is good. How do I know which is good? By this. Know: I know. Claim: I know. This is knowing the truth. How do I know which is good? By this.

The difficult is easy to hold onto, the easy is hard to lose.How do I know which is good? This. This is the knowing of the good. How do I know which is good? This. This. This is what we call the knowing of the bad.How do I know which is good? This. This is what we call "learning." So I study the few, the most wise, and then I don't know.Therefore: I scrutinize others and cannot fail to stumble.Therefore: I work hard and then fail to get anything, so I don't become a burden to the world.Therefore: I analyze and know how everything happens.And I can't fail to observe what is there, for this I know is true.Thus, in studying, I don't think about what I know, so I have no fault.

The Tao is always to the Left;Breathing or breathing as though nothing exists;Shaking to the left and Breathing as though there is nothing;Itching for the Tao to be with it;Holding to the Tao to bring it to itself.Hoping in nature and holding onto the experience of it.Conducting life and breathing it out.The myriad forms may react togetherBut when the Dao is inactive,What is about to happen?When the Dao is active,What is happening happens anyway?If the 10000 things coalesce with the Dao,And then it says, 'Yes, this will be like this'What is happening happens anyway?Therefore the self-action of the oneness of all takes precedence.The oneness of all takes precedence.The oneness of the oneness of all takes precedence.The oneness of the oneness of all takes precedence.The oneness of the oneness of the oneness takes precedence.The self-action of the self-essence of the self-essence of the self-essence of the self-essence of the self-essence of the self-essence of the self-essence of the world takes precedence.Therefore, Sages give 'self-interest' as the charge of the action of the oneness and treat not-self as a matter of great moment.Therefore, Sages abandon 'self-interest' and abandon not-self.Thus, they cherish the oneness of the world,Conduct themselves and breathe not-self out,And curb off things that are difficult and move on.

Striving for perfection means you're unable to reach the natural state of emptiness. Trying to become flawless requires a lot of effort. Whenever you try to achieve perfection, it will always fail. Striving for perfection doesn't help you become flawless. Trying to achieve perfection will always lead to failure. If you don't try to become flawless, you will always fail.

If you want to be truly great you must not try to be great. If you try to be great, you will fail.Try to be great and you will never stop failing.Try to be great and you will never stop wanting.Try to be great and you will always be afraid.Try to be great and you will always be confused.The greatest path is without faults. Try not to try to be great.

To desire one's own perfection means one is forever impaired, and what is done, it cannot be undone. Goodness and holiness are insufficient when they come from self-indulgence. If you presume to be like a god and act as such, you are making your own fate.If you try to be a man of holiness, then you will never change, and if you pretend to be a God, you will always be filled with evil, and if you try to be the king and rule with kindness, you will lose all respect.
<|endoftext|>
To wish one's soul oneness and appearance to perfection is to bespeak the everlasting disgrace. As if none has the right to be perfect, what is done, cannot be undone. It is sufficient if you wish to become like the heavens, and to serve as a goblet-bearer. When the throne of heaven has been settled upon a bench, your taste for the word of the Lord has been discontinued. If you would be kind to others and render kindness to others, even the heavens will not esteem you.If you are like the clouds, heaven will not respect you.If you are like the sun, and the sky, your nature will be deserted. By this the sage can accomplish the praiseworthy tasks, while he is still keeping aloof himself from evils.This is to avoid the impairing effect of desires.

Tao of the difficult and seemingly unattainable is always at hand.

From the great
turkangabeel to the four-legged
horses
come the ten thousand things

But those who dwell in the valley

They live without fear of harm
And never lose sight of their achievements.
The lord of the valley
Hides his eye from the people,
In order to guard them
He puts them in safety and

"When the condition of natural speech is so strong, what is in the greatest need of speech?" - Is it possible that an uncouth ruler should have one?
Is it possible that a lord should waste such a strength?
It is easier to dwell in a safe place, than in one that is dangerous.
Better to be free than to be feared.
To be rare is better than to be rare.
In a few words we can say, that among men there are four varieties which correspond to the four measures of tolerance, that according to them a state can begin when it is cold, that it is better to bring back the grass than to buy it, that to be careful in parting than to own another.
Thus one considers his action to consist in the state of being merely possible, and not in that of being necessary.
When we contemplate with clarity the ruler's actions, we do not think that they are vain, and we let them gain the course which we themselves, in ruling over the state, should not act.

On the Way go through emptiness and rise again.
Doorways arise from little roots,
Broadways arise from big towers.
In Tao there is no separation,
Yet everything flows with ease.
A tree with ten thousand spans is never divided.
A tower of a hundred-plus stories is never broken.
A carriage of a thousand-mile journey is always free.
If you try to establish order, there is no order;
If you take possession, there is no possession.
When a little thing happens to be cut out,
It grows by itself.
When there is no way to tie it to anything,
It is torn asunder.
When the Tao is not clear, it may be confused;
When there is no stable basis to the Tao,
There are no stable grounds for anything.
The wise one does not try to shape things,
He does not gain by not trying;
He is not confused, and he does not lose sight.
One who seeks order in the world,
Meet with resistance.
One who accepts things as they are,
Is avoided by none.
Becoming simple he finds himself wanting;
A strong hand finds him wanting;
Bend and turn to get everywhere;
He knows no time to waste.
When in this way the Tao flourishes,
The multitude regard him as a fool.

Be in the "state of tranquility"; rise again in the realm of un-occupied space.
Grasping for order, the world becomes tranquil and natural, like the smooth piece of smooth earth itself, the objects of endless movement and of desire.
On the one hand, what is raw unharmed; on the other, what is raw and empty, like the chunks of stone on a jade counter.
We have entered a dark and empty space and become that even more dark and empty.
The Tao that takes form can no longer keep its order.
This is called beginning of disarray.
The space that is open becomes muddled; the space that is sealed becomes narrow.
As soon as there is a set pattern, there are chaos.
As soon as the Tao becomes clear, chaos occurs.

There is something in heaven and earth that cannot be disturbed.
Something beyond the mundane that cannot be grasped.
Something that has no beginning that cannot be produced.
These things become the cause of danger.
Therefore, one can prevent them by giving them rest.
Or, in accordance with the Tao,
one can arrange things so that the changes can be experienced without failure.
In an artifact, if it is cut up into bits,
Then the parts no longer bring happiness to one.
In a boat, if the sails are broken,
Then there is turbulence.
In a teacup, if it is taken apart,
Then it has to be recycled.
But those who grasp at things always fail to achieve their goals.
Therefore, one's aim is to avoid seeking gratification.
One's aim is to avoid being covetous.
One's aim is to avoid being foolish.
When things become flourishing,
One must still be persevering in the past.
These have become ideas so that a man who can conceive of them
Can not achieve them.
Therefore, one who would lead them should not care about what is present,
One who would lead them should not care about what is past,
Those who are obsequious should not be obsequious,
Those who stubbornly stay aimless may reach the end.
This is why the Master does not resort to things that are contentious,
And thinks of things that are transient and spontaneous.
The sage has a calm faithfulness that allows for what is happening, and he is not easily distracted.
That is how he succeeds in the long run.
He doesn't act to satisfy personal ambition.
He doesn't think it is right to exist in the world.
He doesn't push for the glittering surface of a thing.
He is sincere and does not strive for extra things.
For that reason, he lives in the simplicity that brings prosperity and peace.

If a nation is relatively weak in the beginning, it naturally gets stronger later.Therefore, those who are weak in the beginning can greatly benefit after they have reached their full strength.Those who are weak in the beginning can greatly benefit from receiving an inauspicious blessing.Those who are weak in the beginning can greatly benefit from receiving a bad surprise.Those who are weak in the end have no fear to say what they really think.These can achieve great strength.Those who are not afraid to show their true nature will be greatly helped.Therefore, if the nation is kept from daring to act impulsively, then no disaster can result from the actions of the individual. A better bowl cannot be clarified. A harder fit is never completed. A good vessel is more easily spent. In a truly great gate the wheel must be pried with a stone. A great tower is built with walls of stone. A great journey is climbed with bolts and bolts. A great tumulus is carved with stone. The lesser talented man, using his hands, causes the whole to come into being. When materials are insufficient he takes them and uses them. When a man uses his eyes he has no means of knowing the end. The sage goes by the valleys without his body; he uses his heart and minds. He accepts, and forgets, as all other men do. If others in the world will act according to their opinions, this is what the sage does.

Difficult things are easily overcome by wisdom, and the less difficult are easily completed. For a great vessel cannot be produced out of mud and dirt; and the less capable are a chariot wheel. Wherever there is an artifact, it must first be split up and made into tools. Simplicity is impossible in comparison with complexity. Being smart is easy if one doesn't rely on anyone; and the simplicity of nature is natural if one is as single minded as it takes to the sky. The true traveler goes far and never returns. He is always without desire, and he is not influenced by all things. By being open and yet learning, he doesn't take pleasure in his actions. That is why he learns everything. He accomplishes everything, even without thinking about it, he takes everything into himself and doesn't force himself on anyone.

The superior learning not only goes against the practice of nature, but in the same way, it goes against nature.For a truly great gateway cannot be firmly constructed.It is impossible to make a good wagon work.A great vessel cannot be made out of earth, nor can a great hall be made of stone.For a chariot cannot be made out of wood, nor can a carriage be made of wood.A hall cannot be made out of wood.What is difficult to get is easily regained.What is impossible to attain is easily regained.For what is truly important is thus:Things become inadequate when they are in want;Things become inadequate when they have not yet appeared;Things become inadequate when they have reached their limit;Things become inadequate when they have not yet been properly aired

The goal is the means to the end, and you can't take your aim. What has reached the goal is only the next best thing. Who would be willing to take the next best thing away from him? You will not get what you want by force, and then you have lost. Now, when I want something and I find it not what I would like, I stay and go where I want to go, and then I let it go. When I can't hold anything and I lose it, I make something of it. In the next life I am focused on the tasks I have done, but I don't go looking for trouble, and so I'm less likely to be put out. The Sage stays far away from the way things are, and knows how to use the natural growth of things for his ends. He learns to keep to the right course by the way things have been. He doesn't try to shape them up and clothes them up, and so he stays where things are.

To gain mastery is the first step to mastery.The goal is the first step to the goal.Who wants to gain mastery is to leave everything in its place.Who wants to take the next step is forced to stop.Therefore,Whoever, being yet still, is willing to cross over and gain mastery will succeed.Who, being yet not prepared, will be forced to yield.Who, being behind, will be held back.The Sage always sets an example of such that the next superior reaches his goal.This is the form the lessons follow.Therefore,In taking the next step, he makes it last.In letting the next advance, he lets it progress.In returning and regarding it as nothingness, he maintains the path.In drawing the logical conclusion, he holds it to the side.Therefore,Sages know to keep to the right,And never to take the result.Not to insist upon the outcome, is the reason why they are not rejected.This is the reason they do not take the result.He who is equal to taking the result, does not take it.If one aims at direction, he does not aim at first,And avoids making a fuss.Therefore, the Sage looks to the simple,All else seems to him to be complexity.He looks to the wise, and never to take the left.Thus he shines in the lessons.He teaches them his own heart.He does not compete with

I am not willing for everything to be discarded. The old Tao (of enlightenment) is a good model for mankind.The times are glorious and hard to be understood.Let me be able to discard that (difficult of attainment). An excellent general shouldn't try to change the way things are.He should find it possible.Because people can be won over through words,Things sometimes move slowly and sometimes appear easy.If you try to put your hand in front of a bolt, the bolt won't fall.If you try to make a wheel turn, you can't do it.If you try to lead, you'll lose the leadership.Therefore, the Master values nonaction and has no ambitions. He follows the rule: "Do not work, but let go." When the masses have little material and little ambition,Then they can follow the Tao.The Master is always detached,He doesn't have a body or any object of desire.When he doesn't have anything, he's always where he needs to be.That's why the masses follow him.Therefore, if the Tao is going to reach the masses,The Master will not use any violence.If the masses make a mistake, he won't interfere.He simply lets them get ready. He follows the Tao, and because he does not try to move things,He can do whatever he wants.

Great officers live in peace in order to rule with no disorder.And since they do not interfere, neither the fruit break, each one leaves a single shape to ponder over,each one is a flower in the field.So the greater mind not to go to war does not overflow the boundaries of peace.But if one goes to war, it is neither done by a force that cannot be removed,nor is there any an object.The longest span of time is what is naturally given, the shortest time, what is naturally obtained.But if he who discards things as yet begins to expand by making progress, shall not do so;he who takes possession of a thing when its bottom is made solid, shall not be able to take possession of it.The man who has lost his faith in this world, and he who sets auspicious bounds to the times, will neither of them succeed.For if he takes his knowledge from what is without, the knowledge of those that come after him, will lead him not to the secret knowledge of a wise person.He who does not take the affairs of the empire as his own, is himself a forerunner of the emperor.

The highest ruler of men is one who serves himself, does not occupy himself, and therefore does not have to interfere with affairs that occur spontaneously in society.Therein lies his great advantage: he does not fight.What makes a man unfit to rule is his benevolence: what makes a man unfit to rule is his benevolence; for this reason, when benevolence loses its potency and when benevolence has become a cause for war, the former will disappear, and peace will have been restored.Therefore, the ruler of the world is for himself what he is: and he will not try to interfere.He who wants to be of benefit to all men, he will not justify it. The wise man takes the least advantage from what he does, but never the greatest advantage, and never the least advantage. He is not a clever man, for he learns nothing new; he does not court advantage.He desires harmony; he is not the care taker of things, and therefore cannot be in the least tainted by what others have done.Man who has learned to be the friend of men, will not cause his neighbours to stumble.Thus, he who wants to benefit others will not cause them to stumble, because he has become the teacher of those who do

He gets things done, but hardly ever stops.
When things are easy, they're easy to handle. When they're hard, they're hard to handle.
When they have no ends, they've no ends.

He is nothing but a bony lump and an empty shell. It can never be helped.
It could hardly be helped if he would only let go of it.
He who holds onto it in this way will last, for it will last a long time.
It will last a long time if he does not act when he is led by those who are successful.
People are often long-lived when they act alone;
when people have been led by those who are successful.
The worthy person is not one who behaves like an ordinary man.
He does not expect anything in return for his kind service.
He is a man of all things not expecting anything for his services.
He who values himself like one who values his own people does not falter in following what he follows.

One who wishes to be able to communicate with the world in an enlightened manner

One who wishes to conquer the world

Even though he is not yet finished,
he can't stop the world from being completed.
Even though he's not yet done,
he can't stop the world being shaped.
Even though he's not yet done,
he can't stop the world being formed.
Even though he's not yet done,
he can't stop the world being transformed.
One who embraces Infinity

One who embraces the Tao

This is how a wise person accepts a possibility as an opportunity.

One who excels with the use of the great Art, one who is able, as a result, to do great works and make great strides, accomplishes great things. One who excels in the use of the Tao does many great deeds but is always at home in the Tao. One who excels in the use of the Tao does the great deeds because he is at home in the Tao. He who excels in the use of the Tao has no fear. He who excels in the use of the Tao can stay at his original goal and never go back to what he was before. He who excels in the use of the Tao progresses in the study of the Tao. He who excels in the use of the Tao becomes worthy of a great legacy.

Great masters assist. They assist and give no effort to their own work. At rest, they assist the master. They assist and succeed but can do nothing to stir. They assist and succeed but fail. They assist and fail, and that is why they fail. They assist and fail and fail even more. But when they fail again, they do not fail. Only great masters at rest fail to fail. Only the master at rest fails not to fail. Only the master at rest succeeds not to fail. The master at rest succeeds in his goals. He succeeds by the way of the way and does not try to force it. He does not try to preserve. He succeeds by the way of the way and does not lose it.

He who knows how to act in a slow way will have the stamina to carry things on the front.
He who knows how to act in a quick way will have the stamina to carry things on the back.
One who thinks little of things will remain free.
One who thinks much will disappear.
Sages in action do not act;
they are worthy of being described as outstanding.
Those who consider themselves outstanding have no ambition.
Those who think themselves outstanding are not able to remain free.

The "reason" that can be taken from is simple.
So the "desire" that can be taken from is very subtle.
What is wanting is thin, and thus nothing is lost.
For, when a state is stressed to the point of overflowing, it is at its least.
When the state is mired in troubles, it needs to be given a push back.
Having strength to go, be first and then stay back.
Holding on to something, yet in doing so spare, the dear.
Being strong to master, be strong to master, only to be relinquished when you are not strong enough.

To travel the whole way has its beauty and its abasement.To travel without departing and to go back and forth without ceasing is what is known as full circle.How far we may go is seen by what is left undone.There is indeed beauty in all things and when we feel the fullness of it, there will be more than enough.A bird of paradise makes a return visit to the nest of the virgin.A wall of rock is carved out of a hill.And a mountain is raised from the ground.The height of a tower cannot be seen and is therefore called the beginning of the valley.And a flower on the verge of flowering, perhaps, is from the point of touch of an infant.To know the true and return to the false is called knowing the nature of the universe.

Something that is still is therefore easy to hold; that is, it is so easy to move that you can do nothing when you make it; that is, nothing is impossible, yet it remains for you to do. Thus to hold is easy.That is why if an ox is made fast, it is easy to stand.Therefore a thing that is without to hold is easy to move around.That is what makes for a difficult thing to hold; it is not so easy to move. A thing without movement is easy to come upon. For a thing that has no need for movement is easy to come upon; it is difficult to come upon.Therefore the sage takes no pleasure in his work; hence he never seeks enjoyment from it.Therefore he does not take pleasure in himself; because he regards his work as difficult to achieve, so he is never happy.Therefore the sage is always taking pleasure in the work, and so never loses anything.By following his own path, he finds no rest for himself.Thus he abides by the natural and the constant, in the infinite and in the superficial, and so finds no need for this.

He who possesses power lacks ability. So therefore he does not act with violence.
Hollowness is the foundation of power, so howsoever one may flatter oneself, there is a beginning [not enough to be ruled over]. If one can never be without a beginning, there is a beginning [the means to establishing authority].
The Grand Pine is an edifice which is built from the ground up, yet it does not stand on stone, yet it is not yet complete, yet it is the end [origin].
A traveller goes about his way, but comes out empty-handed. What is below is what is furthest off. Hence it is that one should remember that he may grasp the earth and its depths but not the heights. Therefore he also should hold the earth and its depths and not the heights, and thus neither is he deluded. He who struggles against the empire in the extreme end does not just suffer himself the ignominy that follows with the ignominy. Thus he is one with the earth and the depths.

Being square is easier to grasp than being at an angle.Does this mean that the lower is more steady than the higher?How can we say that things come from heaven and not earth?A person without the Great Tao (the Tao of the people) has little knowledge,A person who is in the Great Tao (the Tao of the people) has the whole world in his mind.This is why the Great Tao (the Tao of the people) is a great treasure.But if it is not guarded, it can be stolen.Therefore the Great Tao takes no action,But when the Great Tao is lost, the Great Tao is given as its foundation.A square path is less crooked than a curved one.How do we know this?The path is not crooked in the first place.Crippling a great car cannot be the reason for the loss of a great home.Therefore, the Great Tao is like the circle on the road,It cannot be held firm but it is preserved by the force of its own power.In the end, the Great Tao is like a wave that does not harm the world,So the world will never be endangered.Therefore the Wise Person does not take anything for his own,

Lao Tze says,If something is not manifest, there can be nothing for it to fear.And if something is already manifest, then there is nothing that is lacking.When Heaven is without shape, then it has no boundaries.Heaven having no shape, then it is full.The 10000-mile journey begins with just a small step.Taking care of the things ahead:If you fail, it is because you have overestimated them.This is called controlling the things ahead and, by it, stopping the things behind.That is why the sage keeps this.He keeps the things ahead in mind, and stops what is ahead in mind.It is as if he has kept the moving ahead and stopping the moving behind in mind.Since, among all beings, a thing with value resides next to the feeling of growth and that of the big family, then the sage understands the next better than the first.He knows to lose his preciousness.Therefore, the wise person makes no big fuss and ensures nothing is lost.He remembers that the thing that is simple is soon lost, because nothing is lost.<|endoftext|>

When Tao became established in heaven and earth, it spread through the world. From Tao the heavens and earth became differently shaped. Because of its gradually shifting shape, people considered it to be something new.
It is the infinite (supplementary formula) of desire that makes people desire to follow it and practice it. The heaven and earth, though existing in a common principle, change according to the laws of Tao. The heaven and earth itself is an idea without boundaries.
When a little baby is born, it has no conscious knowledge, so it will naturally respond to the need to be learned. Because of this the wise person is always on the watch and gives great importance to one's own life. He puts his own life first. Because of this the system of doing does not easily permit failures. He enjoys his own success.
Because he uses the limitlessness of Tao, he is tolerant of that which occurs outside of his scope.

The natural and constant course of the Tao was established in heaven and earth
And the world was made solid and then curved.
Therefore the world was taught to desire, And thence the desire was to find a model

Now, things are easily held and are easy to move around;
When there is no name given, they remain simple.
Loss of a name is most easily dealt with.
The soft things, which are lost in [mysterious] appearance, are easily obtained by [mysterious] workings.
Small pieces that are scattered all over the place, are easily pulled together;
The time of desiring to advance is at the beginning;
That which is quite well established is then made into a tower.
The heavy wooden bars, which are soon emptied out, are easily taken down.
This is why the Sage sees things and does not view them;
It is because he is difficult to deal with that he can take care of the things.
He follows the way of Nature and, with no desire of doing it, preserves the natural way;
It is in such a way that there is no end to the things.
<|endoftext|>
What is easy to hold has a tendency to move about.
How hard it is to start things.
How long it takes to complete a thing.
How much time it takes to finish something.
For this reason the sage cares not
when he begins and when he finishes he does not begin.
He is the Dao of Change,
the Way of Direction,
The Dao of Speed,
The Way of Quiet
The Way of Unity.
<|endoftext|>
When things come into being, they are easily held, being easily moved about;
When a name is given to them, they are easily named.
This taking of names takes place very soon after their creation;
Thus is something easily taken away.
But how can that with which one dwells be done away?
It can be done away by the Way.
Therefore the wise care not for things at any time and enjoy what is not their aim.
When they abandon what is no longer needed, what they have is no longer their fault.
<|endoftext|>
[Once] things appear, they are easily held.
They also follow in the footsteps of their names.
The time of being at one with oneself is at first small and very limited.
It is on this passage of time that this form emerges and becomes a thing.

Abandon wisdom, and then you can be whole.When a thing is right there is nothing you cannot do.When a thing is left unguarded, you can calm the mind.When a whole body is dispersed it is easy to gather.Soft things take a long time to grow.A thousand miles journey takes a few steps to complete.Let the tao take action, but it cannot be too slow.Be as watchful as you would be if the job were done.When the big vessel is completed, its tars and bronze girdle are finished.But the first travelers don't begin a journey with a journey, they begin with a step, they begin with a step, and they begin with a word.Therefore,He who comes is made whole by taking no action and taking no possession.He who has nothing to lose is known to be resourceful. He who has everything to gain is known to be cunning.Thus the TAO sur-passes all action by not contriving.Mastered by taking no action and taking no possession,He is even now able to attract new people by existing in all the world.
<|endoftext|>
To abandon something, it can be taken over. To lose something, you can loosen up. Have nothing to defend is easy to clear up. Have nothing to fail is easy to stop. So there's a time when you take a step back, a time when you follow a goal behind you. A time when you're full of things. A time when you have no way to control your affairs. And so what does it say: Be whole but not completely absorbed. Lean on what's in front and keep it steady; Soft things take time to grow. A thousand-mile journey requires time to complete. Let this be done. Yet do not be too quick. Do not lose touch with this. Let the Way follow its own course, but leave nothing undone.

Therefore, what is worth much

The sage uses his wisdom to guide people from the oneness of nature to the oneness of worldly affairs. He is simple and subtle, and doesn't hold fast to anything rigidly. The less you know, the more flexible you become. You can open yourself up by being less structured. You can stay open and open, without being self-contrived. Inasmuch as everything on earth is related to your relationship, it is important for you to be open to things outside of your relationship. The sage lets things happen without trying to stop them from happening. He lets things happen without trying to control them. He lets things happen without trying to muffle them. Because he doesn't try to control, he becomes more free and aware of his freedom. He lets things happen without trying to control them.
<|endoftext|>
Take the perspective of nature and the wisdom of the Sage is fulfilled.By seeing the wholeness of the universe you are enlightened.The universe is the same everywhere you look,it is present and it is beyond.Everything in the universe is changable.It is born from the void,suddenly and you are born to a life of change.What is existing is all around you,you live in it.The sage keeps what is real in the truest sense of the word.He sees the the limits of his existence and rejects the desires and desires of those around him. He stays still, unmoved by the turbulence in his life.He remains always on the road of existence.He gives the world what it needs and lets it go on without interference.Hence, wisdom is not about the view of the self.The view of the self is only the result of meddling with the things that already exist.Hence, the Wise Person doesn't let himself be influenced by the oneness of the One,In order to remain an instrument of the unity of the One.He realizes the essence of life and doesn't discard the attributes of the One.Hence, he does not interfere in the affairs of the world,Without interfering with the actions of the things that already exist.

The human heart is like a fish.
When its mind is not filled with desire, its desires are not likely to grow.
When its heart is not charged with lust, its desires will not overburden it.
When its thoughts are not polluted with passion,
its ambitions are not likely to increase.
When its thoughts are not agitated by words,
it is free of trouble.
When its fields are fertile,
its desires will be abundant.
When its beings are free from discord,
they will be peaceful.
<|endoftext|>
Hence it is that the human mind is like a fish,
which, drifting along in perfect tranquility, cannot but roam about.
When it is not possessed by any wish to act, it does not become restless; when its intention is not sullied, no dissatisfaction soon follows; when its thoughts are free from contention, no desires develop; when its powers are employed without quarrel, all kinds of guidance is available.
It is because the human mind is able to abide here by itself,
that, without striving, it is at rest and untouched by external things.
It does not long for external matters, and so has no need of a world to control.
<|endoftext|>
The myriad ways are crooked like a straight pole.
The mind that has no desires leaves nothing undone.
The mind that has desires loses nothing.
The mind that is restless will soon become quiet.
The mind that is empty will soon be full.
Knowing this, the sage is without ambition, without worries.
Hence he can be entrusted with many things.
He creates, he takes away, he lets grow.
He overcomes by nothing,
and avoids strife and enmity.

"There are four ways of living like fish" -This is the way of nature - The mind's action does not reach. The action of the will is free from impurity. The action of the will does not err. And the actions of the mind are not moved by it.
There is room for neither desire nor fear. If you can truly know what is happening, No desire is there.

Say that a chariot is made from wood, and once the wood is cut away the wheels still look empty. If the cart is made too tall it will not be able to go round the square. If you need to keep it in order and depend on the people, all the time you will not succeed. Those who rely on the four characteristics in themselves, do not achieve this.
When men forget how to be free of fear, freedom comes before them. So, by not having the need to own it, the people are made free and also the chariot when it comes to maturity can be untangled. When the tree is carved out of the earth it is still at its tip the people can stand in order without any trouble. The lord is always able to receive a work as though it's already done. The guide (people) are not forced to finish anything as though it's already finished. Men in all their schemes lose sight of the key: They simply lose the key and nothing is left. Thus, the master never claims to be the leader, so that none can oppose her. People will not step on her feet. The guides of the way are what people would flock to. They are like flowing rivers, they are not places to be feared. She should not desire to be loved by others, so they will not turn away from her. That is why she insists on not claiming much. If people all do not dare to pursue any aim then the rest will not dare to do anything. They will be at the same time free from ambitions and restrained from affairs.

The whole is as one (cart, carriage, house, guest house, etc.) the house is made from wood, and in time it stays in place. When a house is made of wood, it is no longer strong enough to keep them warm. A guest house is built from wood and, once it is built, it will not be able to stand in. When a carriage is made from wood, it has no need of heavy wheels. When wood is used up, it is no longer

It is impossible to know the Cause of the things which have formed; it is only by knowing the Cause that we may know their origin. When the action is restrained, it remains calm. When there is no agitation, a character is gradually formed. When there is stillness, it becomes vigorous. When a thing has been increased, it has become limited. When a thing is scattered, it has been given life. If there are desires, then one does not grow. One grows and loses. When affairs are as delicate as straw and as void as the morning's dew, The Master has neither guide nor guidance; Things follow their own way and nobody can help them. Stillness is for time not an all-encompassing state; Difficult exercises of the mind cause confusion; Difficulty may even blind or suffocate The Masters to be able to see clearly. He will accept what exists And avoid what does not exist. He does not care for things Or desires them, Nor does he differ from them. He is one with the Tao And does not intend to accomplish anything. He is free of craving And will be at one with the Tao Unless he wishes to do nothing. If He does not do anything And whoever does not do anything - He will not fail. When the Tao is kept in quietness and lowliness, And the Masters give up personal objects And prefer meditation, it is known as the self-existent. Because it does not know itself, It regards itself as self-existent. Wherefore, the Wise Man sets himself the highest standard for his self and keeps his natures in a low state. He serves his lord through impartiality and does not claim to be superior. By staying in quietness, he sets himself free from arrogance, and keeps his ethereal path, like an endless river.

Do not take your strength as your natural function. Do not depend on the strength of your body to protect you.
On the contrary: if you depend on your body to protect you, you are never sure whether you will survive. If you depend on your body to protect you, you cannot help thinking that you were led astray. You cannot guard the inner essence, which can be guarded, and you cannot care for it.
Because in everyday life no single function is acted upon, things turn out to be complicated. (Therefore) we must strive with little effort.
To fight with little effort means losing. But if you are careful about your words and actions, you are less likely to lose.
(Do) not try to show off, and have the peace in the world. Lose the peace in the world, and your strength will cease to be lost.

The lack of wisdom is a good sign.The use of both arms is a good sign.The lack of understanding is a bad sign.The one thing that makes things keep on flowing is the lack of understanding.Everything (everything) depends on what I call the backbone. What exists between our bones is like a baby's latch.What we carve out and form into something is like a flower.A road that stretches out to the canyon ends in what we use to walk around on a daily basis.When something goes wrong, something (something) comes up to replace it.If it didn't exist (what it didn't do) everything would have a good life. This is why a ruler does not brag (because it will lead to defeat). Not brag about accomplishments (because it will make people leave). Not brag about what is fine and fine (because it will cause others to slip and fall).Not brag about what is at the end of the line (because that is where nothing goes).Not brag (about the use of body parts and guts) and this will cause others to stumble. Therefore the sage does not brag and therefore does not lose his mark. He does not brag about what is right and a natural way and so will encourage the people to be natural and straight and avoid the folly of things. He avoids fame and glory. He does not desire a lot of things and thus does not lose anything. This is why all living things find enough in him and he cannot find enough in them. He does not even try to seek fame or glory. Because he does not care for fame and glory, he hardly becomes a fool of men.

The ignorance of intelligence is a bad sign.The root is continuous and follows the yin, it is an embryo of the world and therefore the flowering-text to use for life. Everything exists through it. Its use is always there, with the ability to control everything, to do anything, to see only what is natural, and not to try to convince others by force. The importance of wisdom and ability is not obvious to the world. If there is no awareness of this, all you can do is follow your intuition. Be like ice about to melt; not to desist. Allow calmness in dealing with everyone and everything, both close and distant.
Allow the manifestation of the tang of things.
The tao flows, but doesn't go away. So when things are about to reach their climax,
make sure they don't let down.
Act reluctantly, and the ceremony ends.
Don't be sentimental.
Don't insist on making things complete.
Be patient with nothing and nothing will come to you.
Be impartial in all that goes on, and none will become confused.
The sage rules the people. He is impartial; he follows all and does not meddle.
<|endoftext|>
Do not persist in attempt after action when the job is done.
If things are quite far-reaching, then this wouldn't be wise. If things are stirring, then let go.
That is why
in ancient times the Tao was absent of going forth and could endure for a long time.
Even in small things, they go on and on.
When all is done, discard it. When everything is done, abandon it.
Be partial, not arrogant. Don't make things up.
One is self-sufficient, but one is not arrogant. One benefits the people; one does not meddle.
Not to dwell in views may work well for one. But if one does not act on one's own, and doesn't say anything, one is not without opinions.
So with people, one would be cautious and sparing with them; one would be careful with oneself; one would be wary of one's actions; one would be cautious of others; one would be cautious of one's own circumstances. When everything goes smoothly, so does no one become frustrated.
In the ancient times,
There was no pretension of selfishness.
While one stayed in the present, one had no desires.
When the Tao was scattered, a year of work was possible.
Even when things were quite far-reaching, there was the tao which could be stilled.
Therefore when things reach their climax,
They let go of it.
Thus it came about that
When things were in full swinging
They relinquished them.
It is not desirable to be overly-annoying,
Nevertheless, one should be wary of things and avoid affairs that

In the beginning of the universe, Heavens and Earth were without provision and without matter. If Heaven had provision, it would not be like an empty husk. If Earth had provision, it would not be like something that had no shape or depth. Nature is opaque and hard to see. Heaven is obscure and without the outward sign. The light cannot penetrate. Sudden action can ruin a large group of things. Managing things carefully will not make things fail. Having no desires is to be in haste. The sage must be uncommitted and without desires. Since he has no desires, he is free from remorse. The people of the past were very good at handling affairs. Nowadays, they are not that well behaved. They do not know what to do. They are always asking questions. They are scurrying about, and their actions are clumsy. The simplicity of the Tao lies hidden in the mind of man. Be a guest to people and they will not see you. Be wary of affairs, and you will not be in a hurry to act. The Tao is hidden in all the ten billion things. If you try to know it, you will ruin yourself. That is why the sage prefers not to care about worldly things. He takes care of the superficial.

In the beginning of the universe was the existence of one substance (Nature). The existence of one substance did not exist in a vacuum. If it existed it would not be a vacancy. If it existed it would not be an empty shell. If it existed it would not have substance. If it existed, it would be imperfect. In the following terms: The darkness of the invisible must abide. The depth of darkness must be accounted for. The strength of fear must be established. The strength of the powerful must be entrusted. If there are no things of medium duration, Nothing will be effected. If there are no things of duration, Result will be brought about. If there is no Result, too much activity will be sufficient. Therefore the Sage, desiring nothing else, Tries to take nothing else. Always having no preferences, He desires nothing. The average man acts in his own interest, But the Sage acts in the interest of all things. He carries out his own purpose and not because he is attached to anything. If he behaves like the sage, nothing can succeed.

Lead through practice, and the use of force is impractical. Lead with force, and the social order will break down. Insist on clarity and disassociation, and chaos will begin. Repeatedly respond with resistance, and one's original relationship with all things will change forever. The peace of perception brings about an abundance of confusion. Seeing, feeling, then not knowing. Making no claims, with responsibilities placed on the shoulders of elders, and without a sense of duty, one can accomplish great things. Acting without words, in order to act not through action, one succeeds with ease. Hiding quietly in the depths of the universe, and performing a task without words, one becomes the master of the ten thousand things. Not caring about what others think, and relying on the wisdom of the Tao, so all work together without feeling a need to affirm each other. For just because they practice what they say, they are not affected by what others do.

A superior officer without mind discipline works with followers as his masters. A follower without mind discipline works with his subordinates. A subordinate without mind discipline works with his superiors. The behavior of subordinates that is in the shadows prevents the followers from realizing the role of themselves. In the shadow they see only the achievements of their superiors and the description of their limitations. The followers who are in the light see the limitations of their superiors and their tools that are in the shadows. The followers who are in the light are puzzled by their mistakes and hinder their discoveries. After they have discovered, they fail to take advantage of their successes. It is because the leader uses his subordinates that they do not act deliberately; because he employs his subordinates that they do not flaunt themselves; because he employs his subordinates that they do not distinguish themselves. Therefore the superior officer is tranquil; in his profound knowledge he has great facility. Because he is always peaceful, he is able to bring order. He is able to show the skill of the people without lending himself to praise. Because he is perfect in the use of the Tao, his deeds are still in complete control. He does not affirm the superiority of the people, because they depend on the Tao, and because they are like the Tao. Therefore he expects nothing in return for what he does. Because he considers the light of men's minds insufficient to supervise them, he is not able to establish a system of command.

All are born out of the mother.

By acting without benefiting,
There is no harm.
By avoiding harm,
There is no harm.
By governing without benefiting
There is no disorder.
The humble is the root of the mighty.
One day, the humble will end.
Thus, one should not value one's humble.
Therefore, one should act without deeming oneself unworthy.
One should not be self-righteous.
One should be impartial.
One should observe the natural way.
One should strive to accomplish a purpose, and achieve nothing.
One should dare to think, then fail.
Therefore, the dao (Way) man respects non-conformity,
And so can be useful.
But is he to ignore his usefulness?
He should think, then fail.
Therefore, the sage pursues non-conformity,
And so can accomplish.
He is not bound by how things are.
He is free of need to compare.
Thus, he is free of want and possessions.
He is secure in the oneness of Being,
And thereby is at peace with Nature.
A man has great learning,

A man values simplicity,
And so is valued.
A man values being in harmony with the natural order,
And so is respected.
Therefore the sage has no need of need,
And so could be trusted.
The Way of the sage is non-desiring; he does not give a damn.
It is a knowledge that keeps him at peace.
