Do not try to please people; they will respect you more if you keep to the lower path. If you keep the road between your head and your toes, and act without words, it will always lead you safely. The carriage that moves will take its own way, though you will see that all the men are becoming more wealthy and healthier, though the fields grow rich and full of fruit, though the doors of the carriage are open, though the leader is so clad that it seems he can breathe on all fours, though your house is filled with luxuries, and you own many possessions, yet if you do not claim to be wealthy, you will not be perceived as a thief, swindler, or outcast. Being wealthy is being content, and being rich is being cautious. It is a form of stupidity, and dishonorably spoils the Way.
<|endoftext|>
Practice kindness and you will experience peace.When kindness is not observed, the other side will retaliate with violence.When kindness is enforced, its opposite will grow.This cycle can be described as the cycle of the Sages.When we understand what kindness means, we can relate to that of the other side.When we treat those who have kindness with kindness, we must relate to them as well as our neighbor.As a result, we are less likely to struggle with other people, and less likely to be attacked by attacks on our people by our neighbor.When we are so compassionate that we show kindness to no one, we are no less compassionate than the opposite side.When we treat people with kindness as if we had no right to treat them, we are less deserving of our kindness.When we act like a piece of meat in a war, we are less able to maintain unity.When we display the folly of kindness, we are less likely to have kindness.This is the heart of the Tao.

Giving and receiving mean the same thing;Things of same kind are treated equallyTo rule and to receive are equal.That is the way of the sage.They give to keep from its oppositeBeing able to take possession of themI mean always in favor or in opposeTo avoid giving or receivingIs the way of the sage.They take giftsAnd not from receivingBut from exalting themIs the way of the sage.Giving to gain, if you can not obtain themYou ought to consider their merit

======================================== SAMPLE 2 ========================================

The Tao gives rise to Tao; its practice produces but to be fickle. That which is difficult is not difficult. The plain is the centre of life; there are no extremes. Hence, when a Sage is fond of hunting, he aims at nothing but the unmolested hunting; his officials are fond of hunting, he seeks nothing but the unmolested hunting; his officers are fond of hunting, and seek nothing but the unmolested hunting; this is to search for the weak, to treasure the rich, to praise the lowly. This is to seek to ruin and parody the highest virtue.
<|endoftext|>
Tao creates the tao, and tao exists because of tao, and without tao, all things would be without function. When the places are empty and the resources are in disarray, rulers are scarce. When the people are hungry and frustrated, officials act like bandits and disharmonious. This is a nugget of the Way: to believe that things are simple.
<|endoftext|>
The Tao is one body,and we have only a thin strand to keep it together.How could it be thin?It is intermingled.There are grassy terraces and common farms,but there is no place to stand.I should be afraid to stumble on weeds or stray onto rocks.The ruler and his entourage, being feasted and invited by guests,with the sharp weapons and fine clothing,with expensive dishes,with gold and gems.I would call them barons and noblemen of the world.Is this not honourable?It is the same with the source:The king can believe that he is a fool,And the officials will be dear to him. For if this is not a sage way, how can the world be ruled?"
<|endoftext|>
Tao is given form, but shape is never master.How could the Tao be master of something?When the materials are barren,The fields are full of weeds,And the doors to wealth and honour are removed.Therefore the sage prefers to take life in front of men.When the people are hungry and disgraced,The lord would be in the position of an inferior man.When a lot is lacking,The lord will be bragful.When enough is stripped away,The lord will be arrogant.Because of its dishonour,The Way is ridiculed.Thus it is made the root of the earth.

When people have the right to possess their own reason, I presume they would not take it for granted, and contrive to obstruct my way of getting there.Though I am a great teacher, the sage is not my teacher. He who cannot distinguish good from bad is not intelligent. He who does not distinguish good from evil is not wise. He who does not distinguish good from bad is not pure.
The son of the yüehng (Way),
Beasts,
Cannot be recognized;
Yüehns are ruled;
Maggots are protected;
The people of the countryside are comfortable.
Rares are formal;
Wears gold;
Follows the hunt with pride;
Has divers tastes;
Laws,
And self-respect.
Can you distinguish good from evil?
Will you not go to extremes?
Get rid of vexation,
And there will be no troubles.
Approaching the Tao Way,
Try not to hold on to the Self.
If you do not have a Self,
You will never see it;
If you have a Self,
You will never lose it.
Through Tao, there is no exception,
No contrivance,
No claim, no choice.
When we contemplate the universe,
we see its movement;
We see how things fall into place;
We see what has been.
When we contemplate the self
we see our own imperfections;
We see the impropriety of our desires.
Dwelled in Tao, we begin to feel
The essence of nature;
We begin to understand ourselves;
We begin to treasure ourselves;
We begin to change.
<|endoftext|>
The master of the Tao stays in Tao as if there were nothing there.
He travels along the Way without fear of being cut off.
If everything is covered, one can see the difference between what there is and what is not.
If a gorge is filled with weeds, it should be emptied out first.
When feudal lords became foolish they lost touch with Tao.
Therefore, when no action, an instrument, or doctrine is practised, one must have self-restraint.
When people live in artificial freedom, there will always be the useless things.

Treat those who have lost their way as no trouble. Rerunning others' hearts, My mind is similar to the Way. Were I to step into the great Way, I'd be calm as the sea. Endless as the sea is the Way, I'd desire no more. Though the people may live peacefully, the fields and walls are full of poo, Drinking vessels and utensils are scarce. No wonder the people fear nothing but desolation. It's right that being intent on right would make me a fool. (Thief - my old self would be just as foolish).
<|endoftext|>
Turn away from all that has gone wrongAnd hold fast to the one path that has been preserved.The one path that has been preserved,Though wide and spacious,Will lead you to ease in all the world.If the people are living safelyThe fields are fertile,The palaces are safe,But (merely) the people will be content to appear destitute. The one true path,Though mysterious,In itself is eternally clear.The path of this life is like to its death:It is on the low groundThat the next lives is to be found.This is a stilling of mind that does not lead to thinking on the way.In contemplation of the Way,One is at peace in the heart.One does not accept all that is going wrongAs long as one lives on this earth.This is a rare gem.The path of the dead is far away.The path of the living is close.To the mind of a clever person it is a subtle gem.The natural movement of the universe is far away.Only things in their daily routines will understand it.To understand the passing in and of itself is insight.
<|endoftext|>
Yield, because you are well positioned to return.Accept, because you have achieved the goal.Acknowledge, because you are a true follower.When wise and mighty leaders refuse to relinquish, this practice is called "wheeling the cart."When the natural flow of the universe is lost, it is as if turning to the dark side.Be at peace and observe the cycle of life in the way you would a funeral.These movements are not for you. Know that this is not your function. Let all things flow. As the void and light within each be filled, you'll follow your passionless bliss.

======================================== SAMPLE 5 ========================================
The great Way is like a canyon, the lower the better; the large seem to be inadequate. The sage does not lecture. He assists others to the furthest edge. In the realm of life he enjoys the common goods. Yet he does not desire to become rich. In the realm of death he preserves his dignity. In this way he is indistinguishable from all the rest, And he is the follower of the infinite.
The great Way is like a river - pure and useful, though people use the drain. The valleys are full of weeds, and the markets are empty. When court etiquette is devoid of decorations and etiquette is disregarded, people will think all is well in the kingdom. When lords and dukes seek money and form arrogant ways, they all recognize this as theft.
The great Way is like the abyss, the valley seems to be full but the heavy net is empty. Those who cultivate it are lost at the bottom and the sage dwells in it. Through his great ways the wise friend takes no action but walks the way of the Way, the empty valley empties itself; the sage is at its center, open to all.
The great Way is like a river, small on one side and broad on the other. Thus the wise man wants to lead the people along the way but not enter into battle; on the quiet ground the people flourish but the mighty people use force; all follows the way of the Tao, but the Tao-in-chief endures and all flourish.
The great Way is like the valley Where the tributaries overflow And the fields are full of weeds And the tills are worn. The great man does not lecture, Just serves and then lets things go. For the Way is the only condition Where there is no duty, And the tinkle-tinkle is the only ruler.
The Way is the deep, the mysteriously deep. Only those who have never lost faith will find life to be so much more than a process of assimilation, of ever undergoing fundamental transformation. Only true faith lasts a lifetime.
The Way is deep and seemingly plain,It seems hollow and seemingly deep,Though apparently easy and seemingly simple,The rites and the rites and the ceremonies and the ritually mummy inducingIboga!The Mystic WayThat Way that is deep and seemingly plainIs the opening to the ancient cave of the tesla.The depths are full of weeds,And weeds abound where clay walls have been laid.The Sage himself does not dwell

"Be prepared when your enemies come." - this is known as the "guiding principle." Hence: the great Way is shallow. The valley too deep. This is why people hate the great Way. The great Way is great. Thus they hate to be too great. They are possessed by the great Way and disdain to be inadequate. They rejoice in being supreme but scorn to be deficient. They rush about like phantoms and praise themselves on their importance but despise themselves. This is the rule of the great Way.

All attain self-enlightenment when their inner darkness is also boundless.Thus, taking in mind one's innate potential, one can naturally see the depths of one's value.Therefore, considering the depths of one's own potentials, one is able to see the benefits of the great all-embracing Way.Where one resides in wholeness, one has the possibility to fully experience the depth and richness of one's inner light.Where one resides in wholeness, one is constantly aware of the importance of embodying the great all-embracing Way.By attaining wholeness, one is thereby able to sustain the vast variety of positive experiences which fill the common mind.Embracing the great Way, one possesses the potential to mature and develop.Becoming aware of all that is common is to realize one's potential.Identifying with all that exists, one is therefore able to experience unlimited possibilities.Being aware of one's personal contribution, one is thereby able to realize universal fulfillment.Identifying with universal fulfillment, one is thereby able to experience an expansive array of possibilities.Encycling all the potentials which exist in the world, one is thus at one with the deep and profound possibilities of all beings.

In long campaigns, The multitude is like unruly children; They become contentious and quarrelsome from day to day. Is this not unworthy of the Great Tao? The Great Way is divided, And therefore it is inadequate; The Inner Life is clear, And therefore it is efficacious; And the Mystic Energy is apparent, And therefore it is bright. In short, It is improper.
The Great Tao is very plain, Being useful, Yet lacking things. The Inner Life is cloudy and broad, Being useful, Yet lacking things. The Mystic Energy is in the background, Being useful, Yet lacking things. Therefore, There is no business, but thus the Wise Man has little to do.

In the path of the DAO, Those of good sense need to abide in silence. Being left empty-handed,
people of mischievous disposition flock. However, a clean and well-ordered home abounds with virtue, Which is valued by all. When the country is in balance, There is plenty of time for leisure activities, But when the affairs of the nobles are sharp, Goods are nowhere to be seen. Thus, the Tao is neither static nor taking sides. Yet here lies the cause of many stirrings of the people. Yes, surely the Master's wit never leaves her table.
<|endoftext|>
Those who honor the Tao do not insist on activity, yet they make the Tao their every-day routine. They love his house, but are not seen there. They love what is easy to obtain, yet have no need for it. They love what has good intentions, yet have no intention to destroy the world. They love the world, yet do not interfere. Thus, the Tao can never become redundant.
<|endoftext|>
Those who cultivate the Tao do not revel in action, but act with a calm way of life. They have a pleasant home and good conditions. And they love the universe just like their neighbors. But because their lot is hard they do not take sides and cannot be sure of finding what they seek. So when there is plenty of good things around they try to bring them to the fore. But when the world has too much wealth, they put it to the side. When their hobbies take priority, they curb their busyness. They don't like having to play the part of god. Because of this, the Tao is neither great nor inconsiderable.

Be humble. Truly the Great Tao goes on regardless of your state of mind.People return home empty-handed and hungry, but those there are in command are rich and celebrated.As an example for those who follow the Way: Have no great marvels.
<|endoftext|>
The Great Tao is what it is, its very nature is like nothing else in the world.Everyone in the world follows it and returns empty-handed. The Leaders are big and rich. People feel comfortable with honorifics, with bared weapons, with luxury goods and eating suet. People come home empty-handed.
"It's not like other things to be so good".
It isn't like the Tao, for example.
<|endoftext|>
Be humble and real -- the great Great Tao: Its very nature is like nothing else. The whole world follows it, without failing, On the path of emptiness. No waste; no worry.
When kings and princes receive honor as subjects, they are rich, luxuriant, with all the luxuries; in the flower of a grand feast. When the cottagers have enough, they are satisfied; eat fine food, with appropriate bits. Do not brag, by not being generous. Since when good lords and barons disdain the use of the Great Tao, how unkindly can they be! Therefore, the best ones live quietly, and avoid great issues, That is, treat others like inferior things. When the place is truly noble, don't display.
<|endoftext|>
If the Great Tao is truly like nothing else,It will naturally depart without even a trace of danger.All people in the world follow it, and return in complete happiness.Leaders receive honor as subjects and wealth as gifts.People enjoy tasteful cooking, fine clothing, fine furniture, and precious flowers. They see nothing that is unfair.Since when the Great Tao is neglected,It is like abandoning a great Tao.

Tao that is said to be Great is so empty of life that it cannot be said to have happened at all.But when the Tao that is Great is ever lost sight of, There is but one place to return to: the empty ground. The Great Way is empty.
(Use it only when there is nothing to use it on).
When the great Way is naught but this hollow thing,

The bad name will be your death.
Be satisfied to stand alone.
Here is the root of all wisdom.
Follow it, if you dare, not fearing to change.
The Wise Man knows, therefore, what others do not understand,
(with his unwatched eyes).
He discerns what others see with their sharp eyes.
Because of this he is able to express the essence of the Tao.
He chooses the path that is the natural course of things, so that he can lead others along the Way.
The path of the Wise Man is perfection,
and he is always on the side of the Tao,
for he recognizes the need to act,
and to do so, he stops short.
Because of this he is distinguished as a teacher,
as one who leads others.
And because he acts, they willingly follow.
Thus, he is just as good as Tao.
The path of Tao is truly pristine.
It is naught else
but the mother of the Tao.
The empty path is the mother of all forms,
everything.

Hence, when the sage pours forth his teaching,
and as soon as the utterance is made known,
the people start to desire to own the body.
People will also hold in high esteem those of great renown who act as advisors.
When the Sage's teaching is learned,
the people come to value it;
After it has passed a great test,
they start to consider it as the standard of true teaching.
This is why there are times when the Sage acts with the greatest diligence,
and when he fails.
Whenever he achieves something, he says:
"Let it be!"
(Because) things take on a form,
they remain empty.

One who is good at warding the Inner Vessel should guard the Inner Vessels also.Always with the Inner Vessels! "To go forward in your dealings," to follow the way, and to be humble -all this implies going backwards. (To practise the loftiness) of the Way, we should have to rely on force. When the fields are full of weeds and the riches are left in rags, the sovereign wears expensively made clothing, and has weapons to defend himself. (To deprive the people of whatever they have) and set them against each other, is still to rob and boast (about oneself), as being arrogant and uncouth.

He who knows how to hold the Great Thing is to keep to it too.To make great is to make it recede,to revert is to make it go away.To go forward in acting is to revert to a passive action.To act on the part of great is to act passively;to act on the part of an inferior is to act actively.The followers of great are carried away by marching steps;the followers of inferior are carried away by courses of rain and darkness.When the Way is at its most exalted, the people rest content.When Nature is at its most high, the people have no resting place.When people's minds are most dull, passions overtake them.When great power cannot be procured, its use remains in the hands of the people.When resources are lacking, the use of force is maintained.When the evil passions prevail, force is used for self-preservation.When there is disorder in the government, force is used to intimidate the people.When they follow the Way to the end of their lives, they are not content and consequently die without possessing anything.

One who knows how to know Tao is to hold the way to the Root.Therefore, one who follows Tao to the Root does retreat;One who acts on the part of Tao to the Root does revert.To act on the part of Tao to the Root is to revert to an active or passive action.To act on the part of Tao to the Root is to revert to acting from the center or root.For it is the same with acting upon the parts of great Virtue: It is to act from the root.When great Virtue is at its height,The people are content,So where there is abundanceThe lord puts on beautiful carriage

Only one who truly follows the Way can see the TAO.
I, alone, find it difficult to comprehend.
The Way may be intricate, But the Easy Way is the Inner Self.
The Inner Self always sees the invisible - And must be told through the Inner.
Those who see the Inner Will Look upon "Simple Living" as Simple Life.
Those who look at the Grand as Great Will See "the Submerged as Submerged."
Those who look at the Inner as Inner will See the Inner as Substance.
Those who look at the Inner as Inner Will See the Substance as Substance.
Those who look at the Inner as Inner Will See the Inner as Substance.
Those who look at the Inner as Substance will see the Substance as Substance.
Those who look at the Inner as Substance will see the Substance as Substance.
Those who look at the Inner as Substance will see the Substance as Substance.
Those who look at the Substance as Substance will see the Substance as Substance.
Those who look at the Substance as Substance will see the Substance as Substance.
Those who look at the Substance as Substance will see the Substance as Spirit.
Those who look at the Spirit as Substance see it as Nothingness.
Thus the Great Beings Are Infinity's Vast.
The Tao - The Inner Path.
Achieve Enlightenment?
The Tao is this:
The Simplest way to deal with everything is to use it. But if you use it well, the results are marvelous! Simplicity is the secret of greatness. Therefore even though the Great can live in Simplicity, it's not because it is simple. The Great is at its best when it is in the moment. Being at its best when it is at the center of the world is a miracle. Being at its best when it is at the center of the world is a disaster. Simple living is the "Simple Life" of the Tao. When simplicity is forgotten and everything is described as complex, the simple life is lost to the world. Therefore the sage understands that the true Way is the only way.
A person who achieves insight and clarity and becomes aware of all truths can then become enlightened by the Way.
Knowing All is having insight, and then only by insight can you understand the whole truth. Understanding the whole truth is known only through insight and then only through further insight.It is only when one is forced to make compromises that one is made aware

In his goodness there is no need to abide by appearances; In his goodness there is no need to be conscious of being real; In his goodness there is no need to desire completion; In his goodness there is no need to see progress; In his goodness there is no need to fear opposition. Thus all the Masterpieces obtained are real but then there is disorder; The palaces, the fields, the surplus produce, Are produced and then swept away; The 'yes men' whom the Master knew, are mere guests; They fetch food and drink, but do not own them; They gorge themselves, but do not own them. They inhabit luxury and rejoicing, But have not yet stolen from the masses. Do I look bad? They are master-makers. They are only sparing indeed.
This may be seen as the action of the one who uses the tao of all things to make something solid, without using it as the form of a house, without using it as the form of a cart, without using it as the form of a weapon, without using it for stealing, and without using it to serve as a model.
The one who uses the tao of all things is the One who does not dwell in appearances.
The One who dwells in appearances, by using the tao of all things, appears to be solid.
In using the tao of all things without dwelling in appearances, the people see results, but do not dwell in them.
It is only by using the tao of all things that people see results but do not dwell in them.
In using the tao of all things without dwelling in appearances, the people have belongings but do not have possession of them.
In using the tao of all things without dwelling in appearances, the people act according to necessity.
In using the tao of all things without dwelling in appearances, the people act with skill.
All of the manifestations of this tao belong to the One, and are then disintegrated.
This is called the inner path of the One;
The Tao that is useful in all directions has no end.
It is the Tao that can be of use in all directions, for its use is not spent on things that are not useful.

The Way is not a door to anyone.
I have no need to climb the mountain path to satisfy my needs.
It is only for my own good to climb the mountain path.
Look, I don't think that there is anyone who is needing to climb the mountain path.
Look at the people, they need to climb the mountain path.
Look at the palaces, they need to climb the mountain path.
Look at the fairs, they need to climb the mountain step.
No one can climb the mountain path.
If people can climb the mountain path
If the earth is strong enough to climb the mountain path
The riches of the people will be distributed evenly
Everyone on the earth needs to have food and drink, but in return will have a dish provided for them.
No one gets enough food and drink and thieves go away free.
All these seem like bad things in the sense of not being natural in the sense of a sense of right from the standpoint of humanity,
But they are in fact the natural way of things.

"The following is a kind of perfect gateway of necessity."
Can you wish for more than you need,
Is it for the advantage of others to have this gateway?
"Look, it seems that I see there are some people with desires,
Those who cannot keep them, must be put to death."
"That is why it is better to kill them in battle,
And conquer the land, rather than threaten people with being killed."
The man who is in the wrong views it as good to slaughter people,
To conquer the land, rather than to order them killed.
Being in the right views it as good to kill,
To conquer the land, rather than to order people killed.
Be in the right views it as good to murder,
To conquer the land, rather than to order people killed.
Now, what I see is that people are killing one another,
That is the thing that leads to destruction.
The noble Way has nothing to do with killing.
All wars have a reason.

How great the sense is! It cannot be understood! It cannot be grasped, and yet one can.

The great virtue Is rejected and the great evil is born;
Therefore the wise have no fear,
Likewise the wise do not want to lose their ways,
And are therefore surrounded by peace.
Hence:
The gate of the palaces Is filled with the bones of men's hearts,
Where there are but few fine things to own,
How could such an inn be given up?
Where the gates of the fields Are quartered with the grass-bricks,
How could this be a place of rest for one's days?
How infinite is the world, and people would venture to extend it to wantonly?
How many treasures there are to lose if one aims only at palaces and the fields!
To each his own.

The Great Virtue is rejected, The Great Illness is born.
Therefore the Wise man rejects Virtue and rejects Illness.
Thus he is surrounded by peace.
The spacious hall is filled with the bones of men's hearts.
Where are there few things to be richly displayed?
Why should riches be wasted to do men's will?
How endless the whole world, and the desire to seek riches is surely horrible.
Vast indeed is the Tao and all things.
Do not treasure the hall of the wise man, but treasure what is in Heaven.
If you treasure Heaven, you will not desire to seek wealth, and can be content.

The Great Virtue is rejected; the Great Illness is born.Therefore the Master does not fear to be rejected;He therefore remains free from fear of being rejected.
Therefore: the Grand Elbow is surrounded by the bones of humanity's souls.Where are few things of which the Masters are capable to accumulate?
Therefore: because the whole world is crowded with people, none of them should ever see them suffer;For it is no matter of want that the Masters suffer.

They are nearly as distracted as the Earth, and if they are not set to help, they are not fit to be rulers.For then none is able to be master.Only the TaoCan be all we need.I do not know its name.One word would suffice: Timeless.

While you are learning Tao, It makes you feel silly.
While you are leader of the state, It makes you feel smug.
While you are doing everything with perfection, It makes you feel inadequate.
Being king, It makes you feel smug.
Being engaged to do everything, It makes you feel needy.
Being at the apex, It makes you feel depressed.
The Tao is real, But it does not dwell in you.

When the great Masters perceive the nature of Tao as present,
they laugh loudly;
When rulers perceive the nature of Tao as present,
they groan, and then they rejoice;
When the myriad creatures are upon Tao,
they flock;
And the earth feels them subdued.
Tao appears, and then it seems to return;
While Heaven appears, and then it seems to remain.
Tao appears, and then it seems to fly away;
The Tao appears, and then it seems to reveal itself.
Tao is mysterious, and yet its greatness hardly matters.

Heaven can be sensed by the earth;
nature can be sensed by the people;
everything can be sensed by heaven.
It is only when heaven is lost that people start feeling sad.
There are many things that can be sensed by earth.
Of those earth can only see,
and heaven only sees.
To see something is to see heaven;
to miss something is to miss earth.
There is no such thing as heaven or earth
which we can watch.
If heaven and earth were replaced
all the things that were once earth would again be filled with sorrow and pity.
People would feel betrayed and

People never win; they get on by not winning.
The ancient Masters said:
"There is a virtue in the Tao: it is very new and very dangerous. It is called new in that it doesn't come from before; it is dangerous because it is outside of human standards. So let there be no suspicion of it."

Teaching the children of the valley in the loss of hope.
Teaching the children of the valley to hide their desires in the muddy depths.
To delight in the fruits of the earth. To get possession of men's work.

To have no desires, to rob those who don't want.
That is to live according to the Tao of the past, of the beginning.

The white and the black are made up of the same substance but each is shapeless. The great Way is very thin, It is not the way to teach.
All the world knows the way, and then the way goes on; All the world knows what is it and what it does, and it goes on.
The world can use this Way to find that there is nothing.
Without finding nothing, there is nothing.
The Way and the world can be used together, though not working together.
But in the end, the Way comes first.
The ancient Masters of the universe understood this:
"The white and the black are one.
Each of them is shapeless."
The white and the black were once connected, but are not one.
This unity is not unknown to the Tao.
The Tao uses this unity to hold.
It holds not on the fleeting unity of the white and the black.
All the world knows the Tao,
And then the Tao itself,
They know the Tao,
And then it comes.
The Tao comes from the Tao itself.
<|endoftext|>
The existence of distinction is hard to explain, therefore the person who understands it, has a certain way of thinking.
The perspective of the white and the black are the same, though black looks different in it. It is different in shape and color from anything else.
The white is insignificant; it is hard to see a flaw in it, though it has a true color, shape and spirit.

The sight is obvious, but it is never a constant.
The key is the outer shell, but no one has it.
The truly great and rich always take from the poor.
The grand names are filled with crafty words, and are alarming to look at.
Wine and gold are the guests of noblemen and princes, yet it is the black populace who is becoming rich.

Better to avoid a skill than to possess a 'art.' Thus a skillless man is rejected. And those who possess a skill, are rejected again and again. To reject a skill has three motives: one is to reject (i.e., reject the technique); the other is to reject (i.e., reject the organization); and the third is to reject (i.e., reject the rules); and all this will lead to misery. When the master knows how to use it, he is not forced to try to work.

Be frugal: avoid learning; make it a 'rudimentary skill.' When there is no skill, what is the 'rudimentary skill'? When there is skill, reject it. By Tao-The Universe is steady, and the innermost mystery is deep.Therefore, the wise leader must go to the furthest reaches of Tao, and be the first among the people.The Tao that men all know, is not the real Tao.The Tao that people know is not the real Tao.The two are the same.The one wise ruler does not compete with the other.He accepts as his own what is given to him.He does not treasure his own fame.He knows humility as his true nature.He lays down his schemes, not with the intent to destroy others.He goes to the furthest reaches of Tao, and is welcomed as an equal.He is willing to accept his responsibilities, and take responsibility for all.He accepts his responsibilities, and willingly puts himself to the test.He asks questions, and does not seize on worldly interests.He seeks stability, and does not rule by conquest.He is like Tao, and is loved by all men.
<|endoftext|>
Since the Tao is eternal and hidden, It is said to be one of the chief kinds of the heavens and the earth.Therefore, those who are worthy to be the ruler of men seek the eternal to be the first; He who seeks the eternal is content to be as he is.Those who are content, do not strive for the fame of their deeds.Those who desire fame, will not stay for them.They look to the next attainment without seeking to gain it.They enjoy simplicity and luxuriance.They venture to advance and retreat without taking pride in their work.They are content in taking all that is given to give, and neglecting self-gratification.They practice humility, and stay in peace with the earth.They do not presume to advance themselves, nor to make themselves lords over other men.Although their conduct is outside the Tao, they enjoy it.
<|endoftext|>
The Tao is one that has a constant, hidden power.Those who seek the Tao seek the unlimited, great one.Those who seek the great one are content with the limited, small, slight, and obscure.Those who take pride in their accomplishments, will not be content.They do not plan ahead, but let their inner nature take its course.They are content to have their wants fulfilled, as if their life depended on

There are men in the world that know a great man And try to style their name.
Those names are not the way;
What happens after the Great Man Doesn't happen.
Way is like the sky:
Varying in brightness,
And showing all the way,
And reaching all the way.
When the Great Man spent his life and lost his home, The style was at first modest,
Then truly "great"
As a funeral for a departed.
The models of great men are not their houses:
They take the fields and the oceans and leave them bare.
They gorge themselves on gold and jewels and laughers;
Their style is plain, and their message that is the shape of their mouths:
Their style is defilement
As filthiness and dishonesty.
They want it all. They work to take it all.
In agriculture they grow corn and pump their cart wheels;
They buy, and sell, and issue their duty.
They are dishonest, and nay, filthy.
They are rid of it all:
They cherish the path and wash their hands.

There are men who know about kings and princes, and so they try to gain the love of men.
The love of men, that which makes them princes, is not the way of kings or princes.
Whoever knows about it is not the man who is lord of princes or king.
The Tao is the endless way, and the universe is shaped into the way.
The ordinary is not great, it is just the way itself.
Lords and kings are not like this. They are formed according to their situation,
and in their careers their place is sought in the way.
A noble family is not without place.
It is the foundation of the space and substance.
The worthy are not grand and exalted,
for they make their own boundaries.
Only when the world has been made by people, is there desire to express themselves through wealth or power,
can there be ambition in such pursuits.
Greatness in living is to be small.
Truly great men lose no time in using the nature of things

To be good at using your consciousness, and governing others is to be at one with Tao.To be able to do this is to be able to allow yourself to be unaware.Tao happens but you don't see it.Like a thin sheet of ice in the winter time, nothing can touch it.The wind blows it away.If you cannot control the ice, you will break it.When you are in control of your mind, your other self will leave you.In the end, when you have given up you will be free to live, teach and do the work of the Universe.To have great ambitions and excessive ability is not the way to be Tao-centered.This is against Tao.Hence, when good intentions are left out, it is time to stop.When your ambition is misguided, your ability will diminish.Do not let your mind wander.In the long run you will return to Tao.

They are deep within the Eternal.

They are wrapped in parasols and made to wear spectacles.

The old style is not good, and just as the new is not good. Is the ancient style good, or is the new not good? The ancient man was not willing to act. He served all men and fulfilled their needs. No one had more; he never looked behind. If you shine like jade, you are at odds with everything else. If you rush like a lion, you are at odds with everything else. When the wise says, It is good to be new, but it is not the same as the old Way, that I believe this to be sheer confusion.

The Way of ancient days is not good, and yet the Way of old is good. The ancient Way is good. All things under Heaven move in accordance with the Way. But the realm is lived in accordance with its natural Way. All objects are brought to completion in accordance with the natural Way. Everything is supplied with provision and choice foods, but it is left unattended for a long time. The sage keeps his mind at ease, his hand at rest, and for that reason he has nothing to say to other people.

When the man of the Tao is no longer esteemed, He becomes the accepted truth of Tao. As soon as the Tao is no longer regarded as the accepted truth, It merges into the Non-Tao. Heaven and Earth are older than man, born of the womb of divinity. How expansive the Tao (the Way) is, how deep it is. It is the eternal source of all reality. It can be stated as the unnameable energy (Yang). It can be considered to be the mystery, the intangible, the unnameable. It is the Mystery of the Unnameable. The ruler's cunning cannot be understood. Yet the essence of cunning is to know when not-to-do is to act.When the lord is cunning enough, he is clever as a jade. A good ruler makes rules. He imposes his views on people, but he is not unfriendly. He makes rules. He imposes his views on people, but he does not intend to be unfriendly. Holding on to what has no substance, you follow the path that has no substance. You walk on the sunny way without fear of the storm. The sun shines on all around, but only in the valleys and the plains, And there is nothing to see, but only the wind in the sky. The bowers are full, but they are empty. Men's hearts are turbulent. Do you think it smart to buy something by following your own desires? The path that may seem simple yet is not plain is a route to ruin.
<|endoftext|>
After having attained the Dao, if you take its road, the matter will not comply. Hence it takes the natural course. There is no sense of danger; in all that, only the wind. The valley has no peaks, nor serene waters; the sage's mind is placid; there is no need to set a fire; there is no pleasure in heavy spending; nothing is wanting to feed one's mind. This is because it is repugnant to the Dao, and this is a calculated advantage.
<|endoftext|>
If you wish to be like the Way, you must yield. Tao does not need explanation. The path is smooth; there is no danger. All around, the valleys are full of life, but not bright. The sage's heart is tranquil; there is no need to cast your eyes on wealth. The earth is fruitful; there is plenty to be had. The dung is plentiful; people are good at their jobs. But people have plenty to be possessed by greed. Greed leads to misery, and eventually to death. The Master doesn't feel depressed when passing by. She wants nothing to do with money or possessions. The way of the Tao is most like this.
<|endoftext|>
Not afraid to stand for what is real, Follow the Tao of old. A homely path, clear and undemanding; The air is gentle. The earth is full, But the wind never brings harm. The sage is placid and peaceful. The land is fertile, But the sage seems uninterested. The stream flows serenely, But the sage is unfeeling. Though the fields are full, The sage doesn't buy and/or possess them. The daily life of a man seems leisurely, The life of the Tao is multitudinous, The Tao's path is not inferior.

The way of an empire has direction, the way of the heart has intent. The Way of the heart and the Way of the heart have different names; the Way of the heart is Heaven; the Way of Heaven is what is dark; the Way of the heart is love; the Way of Heaven is Truth. The Way of Truth is contrary to everything. The Way is empty and undefined; it flows to every end. Everything must have something to eat, to drink, to live. To be fattening and indulging, to be filled and full, to have enough and not enough. This is satiety and extravagance. The truly wise have found to accept the universe.

When heaven is empty

The way is named TAO
A path that goes further is called TAO.
Auspicious, the left and right may turn to find each other.
On the belly of the Great Tao, the left and right have no place.
To oppose and to break it is to lose the Great Tao.
Grasp and fill are treated as treasures
Likewise, to drink and take sweets are to be ruled
Untruly, the well-being of the people is a result.
The people have no place to resort for food and drink
If the difference between using food and drink and using a knife is not realized,
It is no less than their cruelty.

The subtle Way is extremely flexible.
The left and the right are in tune to each other.
The left side is always at rest, as the rest of the Way,
and the right side always turns.
Auspicious does not give a way to the Way.
The subtle Way is in this way.
It is the Great Way that is agitated.
The well-manicured is in this way,
As the Great Way, its movement is always troubled.
A darkly-bordered plain is in this way,
The Great Way, the movement is always troubled.
The profiteer has no end
While the wealthy have no end,
Neither are to be surprised.
Things of these are not the Way.

The Way is flexible, though it goes ahead.
The Left and the Right turn side by side,
There is nothing that could stop it.

It gets rid of discontent,
Therefore not going the Way is a good thing.
The manner is impeccable.
It is the Great Way that has turbulences.
The well-manicured is in that way,
The Great Way, it gets turbulences.
Steal and do not share
Avoid excess
In short,
The way has no end.

The wise leader honors those with whom he serves, but does not praise himself; his trustworthiness as leader is the result of a relationship of trust with the world. When the trust is abandoned, he begins to act out of fear of the ridicule of those around him. When respect is lost, his position as leader begins to crumble. Whoever acts on his own and expects nothing in return, is the fool he is. For when people lose trust in him, there is always the temptation of boasting of himself.Those who are more powerful than others will tend to drain them dry. The world is ill at ease when it approaches Tao; it is in danger of losing its original nature. That is why the wise is always very careful not to make a big deal of things, then rush in and get them. But a clever person does not act so hurriedly. It is as if he lived in an abyss. If you love your neighbour, honour them and weep for them for loss of them; if you have men of stature and wealth and titles, you know you shall remain a poor humble estate. The Ruler is a king who always has the least, yet the most. Who walks the highest road for himself, he is a warrior.
Who is a warrior, is a fool to be in anyone's trust.
If someone uses words as sharp weapons, and marauds among all around the land, it is a scheme of deceit. The sincere of heart still regards others as their kin and can find peace in the world.

He dwells in the inner life, thus he embodies the uncarved wood.
The gentleman resides in culture and honor, thus he carries the light.
It is in this simplicity of life that the true gentleman can reside.
This simplicity does not involve self-seeking and worldly desires.
For, if man is, in words,

He is seeking truth, not love,

When the king has learned the Tao, he is most appropriate to the state. For if he has little knowledge, he finds it very easy to be an appropriate. A man of modest intelligence must be very blunt and simple, and must have nothing to express his spirit. If he chooses to be sullied by his profusion, to be stubborn and arrogant, he will be a common thief. He who has a manly personality will be at one with the king and with all his realm, and should be able to find all in his wealth. In the midst of the state, many fields of grass and brambles will be empty, and the granaries will be full of cinders. In cultivating the natural food and making many beautiful utensils, the potential is there, but the government is not adapted to such things.

The lord and the glorious hall seem to be both profiteering.
But rich persons also are coarse, uncouth and unkind.
In attending a banquet, one is not sparing in the use of material things, yet one is not uncouth or uncouth.
If one is like a rich man in his manner of walking, wearing splendid garb, in taking multitudes of guests, in mounting a chariot, in keeping his substantial heart open for others, one is not an angry person. Therefore when one is 'strong and unmanly,'

The Inner Life is also the plain-and-good, although it may seem so; but in holding to the means of life, and those who follow it, is a very great value. Being good at that, one must have eyes wide open, but men are not so easily seen. Being the good at that, one will not search for the common and the sublime, even though its limits may be found; it should be known that one who knows that is wise; and when the Inner Life has become common, the fields have become tender, the tools are likely to be in want of use, and the emperor's shirt should be worn without ceremony. As these things are when they have little resources, they should be set out in straw instead of embroidered cloths. And to imitate what is done is to remember the craftiness of thieves, who rob men's houses and warehouses.This is, to be a crafty thief one must be ignorant, and one who is ignorant of the common cannot be a thief.

The sage is always in the shadow of a mystery. One who senses the mysteries is filled with delight; one who feels the mysteries, is filled with fear.

A female child does not live for the purpose of being a mother.
She is like an infant, for she does not live to live.
A sage is someone without a work.
He is not rooted for the purpose of being a teacher.
Therefore, he dwells within the fruit.
The fruit is difficult to place.
The difficult the more there is.
The more there is, the more difficult.
The fruit is of great value.
The use is of great use.
The value is hidden.
When you look for value, you will find none.
The hard to see the more hidden.
Knowing the hidden is an advantage.
Knowing the advantage is an advantage.

The female does not fulfill the function of a mother.
She relies on the fruits of the earth to give birth.
The male does not satisfy the function of a father.
He abides in his powers to take over.
Hence, he creates things.
The female works in the mud and not on a foundation.
The male works in the fruit and not on the root.
Hence, he creates the land.
The male creates the land by giving life.
Therefore, they create the land;
That is where the fruit dwells.
The female produces in muddy water.
The male produces by good working.
That is where good is found.
To find good is to find truth.
Those who know the truth will not be afraid.
Those who know the truth will not disdain.
Hence, they can live to be old.

To a great person, the Tao is "as" the Tao, and being in the Tao is to be like a great person.
To want to be ahead of Tao creates loss of Tao. Being in the way provides a fuller understanding of Tao.
The path of Tao has no existence.
The path of desire is not Tao.
The Way is not desire.
The lost soul has a heart of gold
The heart of luxury
Lacks love
Unworthy of sustenance
Rests upon the abandoned
Aye, to the ego body, this is known.
Translated:
The Tao that is enduring has no beginning,
The tao that moves doesn't last,
The art that appears perfect doesn't last,
The strong that grows weak brings downfall,
The good that brings true utility brings misfortune,
The base that is strong cannot be trusted,
The valleys that lack the root cannot be found.
The tao that is present can't be hidden,
The tao that is formless can't be seen,
The Way that is the way that brings successes is nothing but illusion,
The Way that is perfect is, after all, not the true Way,
And so the great man knows this.
The Way that came from the mind to the mind is real.
The Tao that is present in one's heart can't be doubted.
The way that will transform lives after death is false.
The great man knows this and so does not cling to the delusion.
Hades cave does not exist,
The Way that lasts will not perish.
<|endoftext|>
The Way that is experienced should be considered the mother of all other worlds,
and in this way it becomes a natural mother.
The Way that is experienced is not always the same as the Way that it leads to.
Therefore, if your Way is to be your mother, it is not always a conventional Way.
Doing something, always choosing something else as the subject; doing something, always choosing something else as the goal; acting, always choosing something else as the result; acting, always choosing something else as the result; acting, always choosing something else as the result; acting, always choosing something else as the result; acting, always choosing something else as the result; acting, always choosing something else as the result; acting, always choosing something else as the result.

The Way that does not justify the Virtue (virtue) is not the natural Way;
The Direction (direction) that asserts itself on Virtue (virtue) is not natural Direction.
Is there no Way (natural Way) so as to observe the Way (natural Way)? Yes, let's say, that one follows the Tao (Way) that is Natural Way.
There is no "Natural Way" that one can follow (follow Tao Natural Way) to realize its advantages;
Lack of "Natural Way" means that one is forced to be aware of the "Effort" of its "Effort".
This is the grim reality of what has not reached its full height (exotic food).
The common folk appear to be enjoying treasures and luxuries, While the old class will benefit by stripping naked and throwing oneself on the floor.
<|endoftext|>
The way of the Tao is not good; it cannot be put into words.
The way of nature is not the way. Natural laws are not the nature of nature.
Nature is a way. Nature cannot be described in words.
Nature is great and without end. There is no way of passage beyond nature.
The Way endures, and so do rules.
A little knowledge can be misleading; a thick head can be misleading; a great self can be misleading; egocentric notions are misleading; true ambitions are misleading.
The Way never ends, so it is never confused with reality.
In the valley below the mountains, the fruit and fish are everywhere; the good person lives the path of the Tao; the evil person lives the ways of the world.
This is the depth of the irony:
The good are offered all sorts of distractions, while the bad are offered only what is there.
The parts are distributed in very different ways.
The good person lives the way of the Tao, and his heart is moved by Tao. The bad person lives the way of the world, and his heart is moved by the world.
Both these embody the same origin, but different realities.
The good person lives on the simple and natural path, and his heart is moved by the natural.
The bad person lives on the profane and superficial path, and his heart is moved by worldly things.
The bad person is most likely to destroy his heart in the pursuit of materialism; this will only open up the

There are thieves who steal from the rich and the innocent. There are thieves who steal from the strong and the extinct. The rich one serves; the bad one serves. The robbers need a beautiful song that pleases the eye, to the point that their hearts have lost their sharpness.
Of this, I take the examples of a female who travels with her beloved and not on a cart.
In this way, the precious and the simple are not the best and hence the desirable. The beautiful and the simple are what others call luxury goods. And yes, the rich and the rich are thieves. The theft of the rich is a prime example for a greedy person. Therefore the rich must be guarded and the rich must be helped.
He who doesn't understand nor value is not able to follow the Way.
(If you want to understand, look for the inauthenticity, because this is the true substance of the Way, the substance which is to be experienced. Look for the ways the the blindness of the mind in the actions of a successful person, because this is the essence of the thick subject.)
What is the relationship between beauty and vanity?
What is the relationship between the average and the extreme?
There are ordinary men who are proud of their physical needs, and, in contrast, there are extraordinary men who are burdened by their problems.
How do we feel when we see other men as distinguished from ourselves? Some are in a position to be distinguished, and yet they are not quite distinguished. Some are in position to be looked up to, and yet they are not.
To know this is the depth of experience. To be aware of contrast is clarity. To be in agreement with others is to be different from them.
To believe that what is different is not important is to be unaware of the depth of the experience.
The wise are content to let experience reveal itself in its fullness. They can see the difference between following nature and following desires. They can follow a cloud to the ground, to the light that follows them.
The heart of the wise person is not driven to excess.
The heart of the non-soul is never influenced by the bright light.

It is the valley path that does not smile;
It is the torrential path that is not steeped in water;

The way is the mystery.
The profound is the fruit.
Lust is the flower.
Cannibalism is the fruit.
The master is the fruit.
Because fruit cannot be looked at
In vain the name of mystery
Is given to it.
The way is the first unspoken;
The first step.
So the way is to heaven the mouth of the harmony
Though it is not so clear as heaven;
The valley path the path of the harmony,
Though it has no windows,
Yet it takes the root of all things.
The fruit is unattainable,
For it, too, is the origin of the hundred things.
Thus the master is his fruit,
And it is he who is at his essence
And whose essence is his root.
The fruit does not begrudge the deep one,
Because the deep one it that he should search.
The fruit is not perfected,
For it brings him the path to all beings.
Lust is not the end of wealth,
Neither is it the road to honour.
The abyss is the depth of all things,
But those who have attained the light
Now grasp at it.
The wayfarer does not lead others to their destination,
Though he may be the first to hold on to the light,
So the wayfarer will not end in ignominy.
The subtlety of a wayfarer is not the depth of a depthless depth.
One who holds on to that depth is worthy of

To keep great wealth in mind when you start to value it is to keep hold of the illusory. The illusory thing will lead you astray; it will lead you away from the real thing. To keep your wealth in mind when you value it is to keep hold of the path. The path, as in many things, is in its days missing, And its beginning is now; - and it is still being made. - When you find a goodly bowl and a knife you do not discard them, And when you sense a pleasant taste, you do not discard it; Therefore the sage moves on from the path.

The profound mystery goes far beyond the natural: The natural is ever mysterious.
Ever-shifting: there is never room to let it go.
Cannot be expressed clearly: to it must be shown.
To it must be revealed: to it must be refused.
Just because it cannot be shown, cannot be seen.
Empty: to it must be supplied.
Empty and full: to it must be decreased.
Hypothetical: to it must be amplified.

THE MAD MUST be made MAD by the hidden Virtue;
The Deformed and the Wicked must abide with the natural Laws.
And the few and the foolish seek the narrow and the noble.
There is a Way which leads to its extremity.
That Path of nought shall one shun.
So must we look to the Wise;

Know that it is to the Way that one may return. Its form is nameless. The Great Road is but the drip, The valley but the bottomless stream, The boughs but the root of all things. Tao lives in its people and has no desire. It exists in the valley, yet is beyond description. He whose heart is a slave obeys that. And that there are those who refuse loyalty, are those who are untrustworthy. To be entrusted means to be taoless.
<|endoftext|>
Know the great mass, remember the small. The great Road [the Tao] returns. Thus it is small. The small returns to the great Way. The great Way is the valley of the deep. The root of things. Thus the people value their valleys and their true Way. What is accomplished is made great, and where there is so much, there is so much more. In the passing of the great Way, there is great calculation. In order to accomplish it, the great Way is half emptied. It is just a return to the hole in the Great Way.
<|endoftext|>
Know the great mass. Know the lowly. The great Way goes back to where nothing is. The path of the great Way is not the space within the space. Where there is nothing, there is nothing to go back to. Now to go back to the path of the great Way is to return to the places that the great Way is deficient in. Hence the deficient place is filled up with the great Way, and the more things there are, the greater must be the deficit. Therefore, when the great Way is weak, it is in part empty. Thus the loftiness is gained by giving to the great Way an empty place.
<|endoftext|>
Know the great mass, keep in mind the lowly. The great Way comes to those who know it, but also the returns to the myriad things returns to the myriad things.The Way is everywhere, but returns to the spot that alone has been There is no place like this to rest.
<|endoftext|>
Know the great mass, preserve the minor.
The great road brings back simplicity;
The great valley is the stem of the great road;
The great wood is the place for the great tree;
And the great self is the greatest source of life.
Therefore, the sage is selfless, so

Give way to love and Tao will become apparent. Give way to fear and Tao will not exist. If fear cannot control the self, it will not act on the body. If body is moved by grief and fear, it is moved by the need to be strong. To move on the belly, one takes one's step back. Not taking one's purpose is not choosing the self.
<|endoftext|>
By holding fast to Benevolence, the Way will naturally arise.By mounting fear, the Way will not be able to exist.Though you keep this principle, you will never be able to achieve your desires. The only way to fulfill desires is to experience them.To achieve desires is to move away from all natural states.
<|endoftext|>
If you can maintain joy and light, true life will be possible.The fear of death is holding on to muddled desires.Muddled desires are hard to control and destroy.Only after grief and fear and grief will you become fit to fulfill the wishes of the group.The clans and the State's leader constantly should be busy with affairs.If these affairs are not well completed, then your efforts will not go well.
<|endoftext|>
By giving oneself up to impartiality and inwardness,the way of nature will naturally appear.If you set yourself against humanity, you lose the fruitfulness of existence.Have compassion,but do not compete with each other.Achieve your objective but do not glorify your successes.When you glorify your successes,you will not fulfill your aims.You should not glorify your successes because you glorify your own goals.This is because you justify yourself by your self-interest.You should not justify yourself by glorying in the achievements.Glorying in achievements makes you a greedy person.Because glorying in achievements is not natural,you will lose unity.

If we would receive the Tao in ourselves we should become placid and hesitant and we should be able to enter the world easily.Everyone would regard us as just like a hen who dares to step on the brooklet. Take the Path of least resistance, because being on the lesser side of the road is truly dangerous.
Travel with mild caution, for the great road can only be feared.
Consider what the great road is like:
Yield in the face of danger, and the great road is like a valley.
Yield and one falls, because the fall is natural.
Yield and one keeps on going, because the great road is like an ocean.
Yield and keep on going, because the great road is like the formless realm.
Yield and you'll lose yourself in the Tao.
Accept this; then return to the Dao of moderation.

Give up that which could be deemed low
For the way ahead is only in peril.
The way ahead is level,
But it is that which is inclined to defy that.
For the way ahead is narrow;
Carrying on is the same.
But it is that which is overcome that is extraordinary.
Bourque ducal, marquis, a sage, travels the great way
Yielding is ordinary;
Strengthened through great efforts,
What begins to flow is natural.
Yet the marquis travels the great way,
The marquis who travels the great way
Yields his way, and becomes a new-born babe.
Bouvones! Clumsiness! And the highest position is one which must not be climbed.
Where could a magistrate climb his high position?
Where could a sage erect his high place?
Granted honor is right. And true devotion is right.
Granted credit is right.
True faith is right.
Luxury is right.
Truly this is an aberration.
A correct course of action, according to the TAO!

Never give up on the way, for it is the way's [the great] adversary

Hold fast to beauty, and the Way lies open!
Hold fast to strength, and the Way lies hidden!
Hold fast to wisdom, and the Way lies concealed.

We must exalt the supreme. The high road travels great distances, but people prefer less-traveled minor ways. The great ceremonial hall's floor is littered with people, yet people prefer the more modest high hall. Forced to travel the great road, even the heart can get lost. Great ceremonial halls are narrow and impractical, but people prefer less-analogous sanctums. The business-room is empty and not well ventilated, the heavy weapons are used, and there are more than enough possessions. This is the demonstration of excessness of each-one's own nature. It is not in accordance with Tao.
<|endoftext|>
The principle that guides the whole universe is goodness (wu), which cannot be reduced to just one.
It rolls on long and is not to be reduced to a single thing.
The great gateposts are visited by people, and the less visited have less weight.
The great hall, in a scheme too elaborate to have been there before, leads nowhere.
The wealth is then wasted, and the land polluted with weeds.
The Ministers are dressed in expensive clothing and carry great weapons.
The great treasure is undemptied, and the government is set up for thieves.
That is to say, the people of the world do not know what to do with themselves.
They bring this on themselves.
Why should I pretend to know better?
<|endoftext|>
We must exalt the Dao to the highest measure.
The great path travels vast distances,
But people prefer the lesser distances.
The great ceremonial hall is loathsome,
Yet it is the lesser places where people prefer.
The great hall is far too full to hold a banquet,
Yet it is the lesser places where people prefer.
High profits come from taking chances,
And more than enough has to be spent.
High profits are the limit of personal freedom.

Great armies are best positioned.
The vehicle may travel long distances,
But the traveler prefers to stop at home.
High gates are difficult to enter.
The mighty towers may be magnificent,

High profits are hidden.
Why seek out riches in vain?
Their nature is not in accord with the Tao.

Only an idiot would accept this teaching. I don't like danger, so I'll stay home. The great road must be smooth and level. The leaders all have their own personal way to go about things. The path is unhewn, unharvested. When we take the great road, people think we need to do something. When the great road is uneven, we think we need to roll up our sleeves and climb up a tree. When people become curt with each other, we think they have ulcers in their guts. When politicians get involved in the conflict, we get hasty to get involved. As the Tao is going against the universe, we do what we can.

Sophistate scholars are very arrogant.I'm not arrogant, even though I know I am extremely stupid.The wise are like straw that has been dried and molded into a flower.Things come and go in slow progress, but the grand path of life remains always in motion. How unruly they become!How ugliness they become!The sage is cunning, cunning enough to be cunning.If politicians are smart and wise,How stupid the people become.Therefore,I reluctantly accept their teaching.

The wise leader accepts by relying on their own intuitive ability. The dull leaders fall into what we would call mental error.
Matter from another world comes and goes and more is used up. Where is the right direction now? The right direction is always in motion. The right way is flawless. When we cherish beauty, with the exception of jewels and expensive wares, we go beyond the surface. Beauty alone shines. Everything else is boring and waste. For this reason, I recommend unity with Nature: observe your physical nature, but watch its spirit. Be free of your own desires and actions; let your inner self become the center of the whole world.
<|endoftext|>
Live with beauty and neglect the ugly.Look at beauty, but forget the triteness.Look at the detail, but forget the purity.Live with peace and harmony.Manage the earth with the Great Mystery.Manage the past, but do not change the land.Manage the field, but never forget your roots.Manage the task, but do not tamper with the results.Do you want to be beautiful and use it, or dull and play with it?Look and see without being seen.Be free of desire and do not interfere with people.Leave everything and become whole.Be the center of the world.
<|endoftext|>
Return to unformed substance; refresh your perception, return to the simplicity of the Infinite.Look upon the multitudinous things as the produce of the Infinite,And give no thought to the indivisible essences.Spare your mind from all thoughts of distinctions,And return to the simplicity of the Absolute.Honour the principle of the Dao like one regards the Mother-Dao: Be ever without selfishness and inactive.Be without desire, and the Way shall be thy servant.
<|endoftext|>
Be versed in the one and attend to the other.If one embraces the one, it won't touch him.If the other receives it, he doesn't care about it.If one tries to achieve it, he fails.If one thinks of the roots, he doesn't see how it works.To strive and resist is to lose one's true self.To grasp, and get confused is to lose the Way.
<|endoftext|>
Keep the beauty and focus the ugly:For beauty alone shines,And for the ugly nothing else matters.Look within and ignore:Keep to the unnamable,And there's nothing to fear.Hence, if you want beauty, embrace the mundane:If you want to see the mind,Keep to the uncarved block:If you want to love, withdraw.The way will make you too.

Who honours life, Has the crown; Who honours death, Is brought back.Thus, Nature's gentle way abides.Duty was always ahead of it; Some people just 'benefit' It, while others 'shovel up ' it. I see then what Infinity's way is: Calm and simple,But none forget that it's changeable.So it's one to the glory of Infinity, And not to, crave a sham." Indeed, let us regard Infinity as Ever-shifting, And not to be despoiled of Its that-shining.

Honouring the Mother of all creatures, How can the Crown be obtained?Hence, Nature abides;All things return to themselves.When a guest is delivered,Do not burst its guest-chest.When a guest is walked, do not spill their host.Do not rob the guest-store.When the house is appointed and its work done,Do not take advantage of it.This is acting against nature;Thus the sageEmbrace Nature and do not contend.

Truly, when all things proceed from the One, he is always present.
So, when the Taoist keeps the pristine, pure nature in mind, he does not use his own purpose as an expression. He attunes to what is, without dwelling on its boundaries. He becomes aware of what is real and yet invisible, perceiving the untruths, mysteries, and fantasies that swirl around him, yet he regards them as actual things. When he observes, he does not lecture. He is ever humble.
<|endoftext|>
The sage does not display appearance but remains unmoved. Without a mind for display, he is fully aware of the subtle and always has what he needs. He accepts what is true, accepts what he feels, accepts what he finds. Then he acts accordingly, for he acts for its own sake. What is without form in appearance, and it is always without shape. Its subtle and obscure truth is the universe. Like an infant, it is not shaped, yet it is all-pervading. Like an old tree, it is not fenced, yet it is richly forested. Like stone there is no boundary, but it is richly formed. If you study it, it is still unhewn, yet it is as though it were made by God. It is the seer and the knowing one.

Because there are 'effects' created in order to do things, it is better to stop. Act in nature, and be content with life.
How do I know that Tao is simple? It is by what we don't do.
It is when we don't do that things become as they are.
Facts cannot show me their beginning.
<|endoftext|>
Those who know its Tao do not seek;
Those who know its Way do not flaunt;
Those who know its effects do not love them;
Those who know its mysteries do not have them.
<|endoftext|>
"When those who know the Tao do not practice it, the whole of them do not fear it. When those who know the Way do not shine and praise it, the whole of them do not take delight in it. When those who know its effects are not in excess, it has no advantages to attract them. When they do not serve men but act alone, their good in this world is tarnished. If it were otherwise, the active one would be unable to make himself useful. Therefore it is better for him not to insist on what is right. If he fails to be able to find it in himself to be present with virtue, what he seeks in this world, is merely to let it suffice to suffice. So he who knows the Tao as one of the infinite becomes truly present with the Infinite. How do I know that it is Tao that can be reduced to nothingness? It is because I have not the power to lose."
<|endoftext|>
Those with non-action, having no desires, do not feel afraid. Those with desire, having no desires, are afraid of losing them. Those with a myriad of objects, having a multitude of desires, are fainthearted about them. Having no advantage in the world, they do not shine. Being in a state of ill health, they cannot long survive. Therefore those who know the Tao are positioned for the universe. When Tao is eliminated, they become isolated, isolated in the cosmos. How do I know they are in the universe? I have got nothing to lose, except the Tao.

The Sages regard the realm of matter as the vast ocean of sky.They do not trust the sky-thing which blows its bright light.Therefore the Sage rejects the bright light.
The Path of the sage is easy.The Way of man is tough.People prefer this way and those this way can be rough.When people rely on ornamental things and glittering gold,That is the mark of vanity and smugness.When people encircle themselves with wealth and spectacular vices,That is the mark of pride and selfishness.When people wish to make a fool of themselves,that is the beginning of vices.Those who are stubborn and refuse to yield are stubborn.The people of this world do not seek wisdom and pleasure but prefer to endure. They find the ordinary and the ridiculous on the rare and the rarest.
<|endoftext|>
The wise people avoid the realm of matter, preferring instead the realm of the holy.It is only when they are cautious that they avoid brilliance.If the realm of the sage is really the holy realm, how will they learn to be humble and considerate?The kingdom of the enlightened is the natural way; it is just because they cannot avoid the natural way that they are afraid of bright light.The realm of the wise is the easy way; because they are afraid of bright light, they rediscover their nature.The realm of the righteous is the natural way; because they rediscover their nature, they don't resort to selfishness.The realm of worldly goods is the natural way; because they rediscover their nature, they abandon the excessive.The realm of display is the natural way; because they abandon the excessive, they attract thieves and thieves.In seeking the natural way, the wise people have no sense of shame.They enjoy the ordinary and cherish the unusual.

In the Tao are a host of things that make up the universe.Thus, the wise person does not associate with things.They make up the cosmos.The wise person avoids being limited by the one.It is because they avoid the one,That is why they don't involve themselves in things and therefore don't involve themselves with anything.Therefore, if they turn to the Tao for guidance,They can have it.If they have it, then they need not worry about what other people think about them.If they have it and need not worry,They can treat their actions as natural.

When men have forsaken craftiness and business ethics, and prefer the simplicity of nature, then the fruit of their labor will never be taken away from them.

He who is good at keeping away from cleverness will be quite successful in governing the country. He who is good at following Nature will be able to exercise the governance of the people. All this takes no much effort.
Therefore, when men are not forced to work hard and go by the rules, it's hardly possible to do anything well.
When they have no desire to act, then their actions are easy to understand.
When they have a dream about things that are too big for them and do not think of themselves as examples for others, they are not appreciated.
As soon as artifice is promoted and methods of 'draining' are advocated, their lives and culture are endangered.
When men become crafty and uncouth and if forced to act in ways that cannot be kept quiet, then their will to live and culture will be greatly endangered.
This is the essence of craftiness and what has all its roots in selfishness.
But only if we realize that the skill of governance is to let the people do their own thinking, not to make it the aim of the government.
He who has perfected his ability to work with what is naturally happening will always be at the very front of all people.
He will always be close to the people and understand how their lives will be shaped.
He will never destroy the people's ability to do their own work.
<|endoftext|>
I keep away from cleverness;
I can manage and direct all the people.
I may choose the more apt way:
"When I am rooted,
Teng you all are the root of one seed."
"If I are bent,
I remain on my course.
If I fall, I will not be lost."
"When one hundred kinds merge into one,
Flee!"
"That is the way to curb."

The highest man does not cultivate cleverness, in order to govern;
because he acts in accordance with Nature.
He acts in accordance with Nature in the most simple and enlightened way.
Thus, he becomes master of all people:
He does not attempt to interfere.
Although in the absence of motive, he is governed.

When calm and peace prevail,As an infant listens to a song of praise,He leaves it in peace.
When love and faith prevail,As an artist lifts his glass of water,He views it with respect.

Whoever remains full of devotion and virtuous deeds is not endangered by misfortune.
Whoever is expert at drawing attention can be equally ready to appreciate.
Whoever values the marquis's feast has no place to hide.

The latter are liable to external opposition.
There is a calm way of life for which the simplicity of the natural way is the measure.
There are the things that are delicate and strong,

There is the orderly way of life for which the clarity of the natural way is the measure.

There is the orderly way of life for which the purity of the natural way is the measure.
There are the things that are delicate and strong,

The
first visitor to the valley, in passing through the gate of heaven, should feel calm and tranquil; Like a wide valley.
The valley is calm, like a wide valley, flowing like a river.
The valley is open to all, like a wide-open valley.
The valley is smooth, like a smooth blade.
The valley is untamable like a blank,
like a dish.
That is why the greatest rulers make it the aim to behave like a vase without using sharp knives, for a dish is made of many things and cannot be fully handled.
For the sake of grandeur it is desirable to steal and drink like a sacrificial animal.
The true deserter feels at peace, as if he is travelling in the empty wasteland;
The valley is empty, like a deep well that has no depths.
The valley is still, like melting ice; The valley is desolate like the valley bed.
In emptiness it is like the sea; The river is deserted, like a path for carriage; The glorious vase is but a mere vessel;
The high class of the country regard it as the valley below.
Thus the valley is empty and the valley is empty.
<|endoftext|>
Whenever one goes to the Valley of the Masters
From heaven, the Valley is calm and tranquil.
It has a depth like that of the Dao,
Yet it does not change shape.
It is like an expansive valley
Like an expansive ocean;
It is so vast that its novas cannot be seen;
To describe it, a brook would be like a large bowl,
And to regard it as a place to live
Is to be like the hill top of a mountain.
It is always like this,
However the valley is changed,
Whenever, on ascending or descending,
It seems as though it is taking a walk.
Because the Valley of the Masters does not change shape,
Its image can be described by the few.
<|endoftext|>
Those who are first in going to the valley can be surprised when their eyes are opened. The valley is like a river and the valleys flow into the sea.
After a flood, the valley empties; Its looks plain to the eye. When one gets lost in the fantasy of the wide sea

The Way is the source of all Virtue.As soon as we consider it, we see it within.The things around us all become conscious of it. The grasses and brambles are alive.Frozen in the deeps of deepness, yet bright with life.The lake is ever open and placid.As if already filled, there is nothing left to refuse.The many breeds and households, the four corners of the earth are alive with this Way.They crave the Way like the hungry for a rich and plentiful food. Thus, they take to pride. They display it proudly. They praise it, with pride, as if it were the Ten Thousand Things.They gorge themselves like the host of guests.Unfortunate passers-by are pounced on like guests.All the time they keep alive the name "The Way."The Way is not the Way, but it is the Primal Presence.

The Principle of Tao is infinite and unchanging. It travels all directions without fear. It nourishes everything on the face of it. As soon as you grasp this reality, you realize how peaceful it is. The myriad things come into being. Plants flourish. Deeper still. Filled with life, all things come into being. When the sky is clear, everything is alive. When you perceive the Principle, the universe flows, everything lives and develops in harmony. Everything does its work without ever being late. The universe can become chaotic. Sometimes it seems like it is on the verge of destruction. Earths might be muddled and desolate. Tending to the Tao, you gain your nourishment. Getting rid of those attachments, you can accept the existence of the world, work with the nation, serve the Empire. How far back do you desire to go?
<|endoftext|>
The essential nature of Tao is complete, one is aware of it and finds it. The myriad things of Tao find it and return to it. The myriad things of Tao flourish and exist, for them. The ten directions have a common thread of Tao. The uncarved block of wood of thinness travels in Tao, by it all creatures become capable. The earth is so full that nothing is left to take away. The myriad creatures of Tao are so natural and blend with each other, and then accept the whole of nature. After they have become attached to it, they become attached to others as well.The world has

Lao Tze says,I love the Way as though it were (t)he greatest jewel of heaven.The good man is in the position to reject it.There are some who have a great heart who can't keep it, those who have a foolish heart are hateful people, those who have lost their hearts would have a very dire fate.Those who delight in sin have a great heart.One who has no heart will not be good at [everything].One who does not think one is good has an unblameless heart. Those who find the great treasure in the evil do not take it.Those who crave the great treasure are not good at anything.
<|endoftext|>
To love the profound and the transcendent as if they were not, are to be understood as a student of the subtle yet not too subtle.The perfect observer of life, the good man is, of necessity, ignorant and confused. Only through ignorance is he enlightened.Only by ignorance, he is wise;Only by wise, he is conscious of his success;Only by awareness, he is determined to take action.Man of mind is remote from gain;Man of mind is remote from progress.Man of mind is truly of the Way.
<|endoftext|>
Take on yourself a pristine Way of natural love and you will become the little child of Tao.
When you love the ordinary Tao the most you will never lose that inner wholeness.
Just as if someone told you to love the tao you would be confused.
A little child never knowing what is right is confused.
And, having lost the wholeness, you would become egocentric and not fit to act.
You would become a stubborn person who would lead like a fool.
You would become a fool with a lot of pride.
As the Tao begins to go, the road to a better life begins.
If you always love the Tao you will be content.
You will be at peace with everything.
<|endoftext|>
Love the most ancient Way: this is like the greatest treasure.
The most ordinary Way, a good person may lose it.
A man of the most virtuous heart, an open heart, will see all.
While he sees his own merit, he will love and esteem his friend.
While he loves his own virtue, he will think that it is his own merit.
The imperfect Way, the greatest treasure of man,

A simple voice can convey meaning
But words often lose their natural simplicity.
A government that loves the fruitless is an infantile one.
An empty heart of the people is a bar of the bad.
If you are rich and well endowed then you will not be shamed.
Thou art less than the people.
Know that all things come from each other and therefore you are equal.
And since everything is different, if you follow the same ways, you will be successful.
That is to say: the mover of affairs must move slowly, the carriage must go fast, and the laggards must be satisfied.
Yet even when they are content, they do not stray away from the great way.
Thus a good man is like a crow crowed,
Of what we would not value, and a bad man is like a haughty king.
He who knows the Tao is like a fish in the sea
He who knows it well is like a river flowing to the sea
He who works hard and puts in no effort is like the good wind
A man of clarity understands the world, as does a fool of muddle misunderstands the world
The wise man is like the taoist for all the world, but wiser than the taoist
He is like the river that never grows stale, for in order to flow, it needs neither grain nor water.

The subtle Tao is subtle; yet, as soon as the mind can perceive its form, it leaves it
The superficial Tao, giving itself the shape, disowns all but those of highest virtue
The solitary Tao, yielding itself to what it sees, disowns even this, for its forms cannot be seen
So, the Tao of 'one and the same' is not only of the simplest yet that it conveys all things, it has become a thing of the world
But when all things are dispersed, the Tao is found first in the substance of the people, in their sufferings, and in their excesses
Thus, the 'nonextremes' cannot be understood by 'one and the same'
The 'one and the most' can be understood, but hardly without extreme pain
The Tao that has no name cannot be shown.
This is called the leftover.
Yet, what has been preserved will be spoken of only by the ignorant and the

That's how Tao blossoms,
Rises, blossoms, yet does not grab for possession.
Rises, yet does not aggrandize;
Rises, yet is not supreme;
Rises, yet still does not claim for itself possession.
It is the most harmonious - beauty, mystery and eternity.
Being present is the origin,
Reaching is its outcome.
By not claiming any of its fruit,
The sage is an exemplar,
Attainment through no effort.
The eternal Way.
Nameless, unfathomable,
Yet surely in it all beginnings have a beginning.
From the beginning to the end: something to be treasured,
Something to be feared, Something to be loved,
Something to be made into a thing.
The unchanging, the everlasting.

the Cosmos, the unending!

Nature is infinite and manifests itself continually in the myriad forms of nature.

That's why today's leaders seem to have lost their manners. They favor flashy and sexy food, gold and jewels, and amazing travels over and above all else. It seems they don't value much of life, and therefore spare little of it. For this reason they seem to be acting like homeless men, wearing what looks like jade brooches and using sharp swords.
<|endoftext|>
Do not attract people's attention by contrivance of implements. They are built like great things: for example, houses, palaces, palaces, on which they stand. They do not make their chambers a pleasure to dwell in. Do not rob, and you will not be poor; do not steal, and you will not be broken. Therefore the wise ruler has no need to be elegant; he employs simple but elegant means of livelihood. This simple but elegant way of livelihood is devoted to caring for the vast people. Therefore the wise ruler keeps to his simple, simple ways, not his highly polished, sharp implements.
<|endoftext|>
If you want to make a big tree go big, then you must follow the way of old and big things.
Big things need hardly be possessed of anything:
They must always stand alone like a great tree,
It is unnecessary to tinkle bells or ring bongs,
Hence, a wise man keeps away from both these activities.
Just look at it:
In front, the house is bright;
In back, the courtyard is full of flower;
In front, the gate looks large and simple;
In back, the grounds are full of grass and plenty of things.
In front, the doors are open and shut;
In back, the grass and flowers are everywhere.
Just look and see it.
That is why the man who is wise acts quietly and wisely.
He doesn't display himself and makes no display.
He does not take joy in doing or forgetting.
He lets his work do the work of nature.
<|endoftext|>
Do not contrive to make a model.
The construction is merely the appearance of the great body.
The great body needs to be kept free of attachments,
And not to be inspected.
A sage stays aloof from these accessories,
And relies on the simple to keep himself from them.
Front and back: This is courtyard and hall,
That is front of a house and that is back

The Valley of the Endless - the boundless empty emptiness, - the ground of all things, - the beginning of all being, - the root of all life.When the wind blows, the sky is full.When the Earth is not the center of all the earth is born.When wealth and power corrupt, the world is divided.But if you discard the root, You can yet cling to the fruit.I have spent my life searching for the inner abyss, But I have never found it.

The valley of great emptiness.It is the bane of creation and the source of all beauty and wisdom.When the wind blows the world fills with flowers;But when the earth is not the center of the world birth begins.Without love, more than treasures, the world is filled with robbery.But if one knows what he seeks,the aspirationless without desires,The valley of great emptinessIs a refuge of the seeker.The direction of the valley is smoothed and smooth,It is open to all the world.It's cradle is the deep and loveliest of all breasts:Life without limit is beauty, Knowledge without self is wisdom.

Heaven and earth
are made of the hollow
and the source of all beauty and wisdom.When the wind blows, it blows everywhere.When the earth is not the center of the universe,
it grows and yields; where there is a lot of wealth,
it produces more; where there is a lot of pride,
it seeks more.All this is saying
to the emptiness which pervades the universe:
You need not desire more,
because you already have enough.
No desire, and you are filled.
Accept no substance,
so you are without desire.
Therefore there is no need for desires
as things develop.
<|endoftext|>
The valley of emptiness is the binding agent of heaven and earth.
All Nature is a continuum of the void.
Of what is the source of heaven and earth?
What was it that produced all creation?
Therefore, consider how you use the void: be open, become filled;
inferior, perfect; "above" and above.
Inquiring you know something in this way: the true nature of the void: you find much.
Everything is growing

Good people never insult others; not for the reason that they do not despise their elders. There is a general way for good people: they honor those who have left behind; those who praise honor those who have made reference.So a good person [seeks] to fulfill [by the Tao] the principle of relinquishment [observation], and to oppose it [by the Tao]; just as [the Tao] does [without] teaching [or binder] [knowledge] for.
<|endoftext|>
What the sage does is plain: He treats no offense.Therefore, there are good men who do not insult others; and others who do not treat them with insult.Therefore the sage regards them as having been departed; and is distinguished by having been distinguished.So one is eminent [in the Way]; but the Way [is] not the only [way] there is; and so it is that the sage abandons it; and in the same way the Sage honors not things which are [withdrawn] from the Way, but rewards [things which have been] departed from the Way; and in the same way the Sage does not display anything which is [withdrawn] from [the Way].

Listening for the sound of fear in the hearts of people, means losing faith in the state of affairs. Listening for the sound of fear in people's hearts, means losing faith in all the affairs of the state. Listening for a single word that expresses fear creates rivalry. The world is not a place for excitement and chaos. The mind is dull and sensitive, as the heart is quiet and clear. When leaders choose to press their will, confusion sets in, for this leads to fighting. A lot is wasted on materialism and people start snatching gold and bolts. All of this is excessive. A person need not have a specific purpose. For this purpose, one should have true peace and self-reflection.

Listen to the Inner Voice Listen to the innermost essence
Watch for the soft and fleeting, and then fear. Lose yourself in the idea of Heaven and Earth, desire, profit, and gain
Hear the bolt of the Monarch's whip
Follow the ruler's order, then pause,
Keep to the life of simplicity and substance, the Way.
<|endoftext|>
He who receives the spirit of fear's drum hears its note; he who hears the spirit of fear's voice hears its strain.
Neither one of these matters alone; each one sounds alarms, and both of them alarm upon the mind.
What one sounds alarms in, he endures; what one hears sounds alarms in; what one says sounds alarms in; what one thinks sounds alarms in.
Those who have got this, follow the way, and experience the good.
Those who have not, follow one who leads, and experience the bad.
For this reason it is a sound saying in good of having few followers,
That it is the Way to win the soul of man.

Listen to the utterance,

You may hear it still,
What is below in the world sounds alarm:
What is in the world bellows itself with anxieties.
Alert is the great wheel,
For the people' minds are calm and still,

The Sage is discerning like the Grand Marquis of a country. The Grand Marquis himself is discerning like the mover of a nation.
Hence the Grand Marquis, s/he, keeps the country in peace, and is the help that a country needs.

Precious tin and rare gem-dust cannot be examined with a microscope.
The path leading from emptiness to fullness cannot be followed by a human being.
Therefore, the Sage, knowing everything, assists all beings to a complete state of nothingness. He does this by giving no effort.
<|endoftext|>
The smoothness of rocks cannot be seen through a microscope.
The genuine substance of the Tao cannot be seen through a microscope.
Therefore: the Sage, through faithfulness, guides all things to the utmost emptiness; He guides them only so that they may be with me; and thus he leads them to the ultimate emptiness.
<|endoftext|>
The most objective mirror will not be able to be inspected by a human observer.The most genuine substance of Tao cannot be seen through the microscope.Therefore the sage and master does not look for himself (authenticity).He does not search for his appearance.He knows himself only through being.Therefore the world leads towards the void and inner emptiness, while he leads towards the fullness and outwardness.

But gold and rare gem dust are so blunt and heavy,That even a map cannot see it.The path of the Way is hidden;In the valley of the Way, nothing can be seen.Therefore, the holy one wishes to unify the world in emptiness,To make their hearts beyond see,And so become one with the world of the Tao.He brings about this unity by non-doing.He makes the world into one:Through nothing, nothingness, indeed, unfathomable emptiness.
<|endoftext|>
Watch out for stone angles! Though gold and rare gems are so rare and so weighty, you can't see them through a microscope. Being the Sage, the whole world is going to be in the center of the universe in such a way that nothing is clear about them. Thus, the sage brings all things to the center of the universe, and helps them
