In seeking the tao of unity, one of great depth is already exhausted. Where the tao of unity is, not much action is to be expected. In a country centered on unity, the boundaries (of society) are smoothed, the palliative is promoted, and the virtuous are better known.The upright carry on a campaign and rid themselves of big burdens and destitution. Although they are not always successful, they do not refuse to succeed. Rather than the parts, they are more luminous than the whole. They display the lessons of the greatest work and are set up to take the place of the teacher. If their skills are sufficient, they are never used by a greater man. When the great man is no longer in touch with the transcendental nature, the virtuosity, or virtue, he chooses to transform it into an ego of his own, and becomes (not an important part of) society again.

he can concentrate the affairs of the state.

The Tao can make you a vessel.
The Tao can't make you a vessel.
The Tzu-Te in the Great Way takes nothing from you,
and never lets you go without taking something.
The sage when whole becomes a vessel.
When a vessel loses its vessels, it does not lose itself.
The Dao never falls apart.
Why is this so?
Because everything in the world has its necessity,
and the sage is one with that.
She also accomplishes nothing.
Why?Because she does nothing.
Is this not not quite like getting rid of your desires?
Is this not like being without desires?
Does this not seem to be an object of desire?
Is this not like a thing which cannot be packaged up?
This is something which can't be handled.
Can it not be the source of desire?
Can it not be something which cannot be dealt with?
Can you handle things from the standpoint of something intangible?
Being entirely without desires, can you love?
Being entirely without objects, can you follow?
Can you follow a Way, but never to get caught?
Because the Way is unfathomable and infinite,
and things are to be understood from the root.
The small is the origin of the great.
In the valleys of life, there are natures infinitely subtle.
In this we find the root.
Tao that cannot be made manifest flows not.
Tao that can't be made manifest does not turn away.
The Way that is at one with the great is subtle and has no name.
It is boundless in substance and contains nothing, yet it does not perish.
Because it never does anything that is done, it does not become confused.
<|endoftext|>
Tao creates nothing.
Tao doesn't create anything.
The Way gives a gift that is sufficient for your journey, but never brings you to despair.
The Way is self-existing.
It is also always the same:
It is always free of talk, and so you will never think of it.
It doesn't treat itself as a thing or an object; so you can't call it different from anything else.
In other words, no thought comes into it.
It is perfectly without pattern.
It is untouched by desire.

Such is the Way (the way of nature),Which draws everything in towards the goal (of Tao).
It is not the goal that causes its being.
It is all that we do.
Thus, it is no good for people to be self-complacent or ambitious.
To do things is to receive merit,Not to be self-complacent or ambitious is to lose merit.
When all things are at rest,As is their nature,They manifest their own true nature.
That which manifests its true natureSolitary and passive - it does not issue forth from it,
Which takes no action and yet merits no credit;
It is inaudible, but does not go unnoticed;
Yet nothing is absent from it,Because it is unchanging and so does not transform.
Thus, the people
Can serve it by contributing (in good faith);
And so the TAO (the Way of nature)Does not act (for its own sake),And so it does not seem to do any harm.
Just as it is said,
The Tao in its constant course does not do anything.
The Tao does not do anything.
It is without command, nameless, without a name.
It is silent and uncontrived, and without struggle.
It is everlasting and unchanging.
<|endoftext|>
The Tao (Way) acts and acts without direction.
It is inert, unembodied.
It may be called passive.
If that is the only definition of it, then you will see that it is not compelled to act.
It is simple.
Quiescent.
Indicative.
Not changing.
Unchanging.
It has no aim
And is called the Tao of the inexhaustible.
Unused.
Undecided.
Without desire, it can be controlled.
Use it to help the poor,
Then there is no loss.
Use it to do things for the wealthy,
Then there is profit.
The multitude need not fear being harmed,
Otherwise how could they be benefited.
This is what the Tao says:
The Tao in its original state does not act.
The Tao in its changing state acts.
Is it a demand to act?
It is called the nameless.
It is without merit.

There are those who lack strength of will and who fail to preserve what is eternal.How can they preserve eternal this
such unshakable firmness!
They can withstand extreme pain, soothe them with soft music,
soothe them with gentle music, soothe them with gentle hands,
soothe them with gentle words.
When all who are ruled have attained such noetic states of mind,
then all men will be produced through them.
Having produced them by noetic means, they are no longer possessed of acts,
without passion. It is their secure preservation from becoming possessed of these acts.
When the passion by which they are possessed is absent,
then they can properly proceed to their goal.
If all men could reach there goal,
their virtue would be so complete,
that they would be able to retire before their beloved in their ancestral home.

Lao Tze says:"In the world there are those who make use of the Way with difficulty,
and fail to preserve the Way.
How can it preserve the Way like that?
It can endure,And its being preserved is like that!
That is how the Way is able to endure;
It is able to be preserved.
When All-under-Earth men have attained the Way,
There will be produced a number of children.
Having produced them, there will be produced a number of grandchildren.
This is not possession of this Way.
Not possessing it, there can be no desire.
There can be no desire.
If desire could not exist,
Then there could be no desire.
If desire could not exist,
Then it could not be diminished.
If it could not be diminished,
Then there could be no need for action.
Since action could not be performed,
Then the Principle would be ready to act.
Being ready to act, is not something that happens.
It is something that can happen.
It can happen whether you are at home, or not at home.

When in peace you have stillness.
When you have gone right, there is no more confusion.
When you have gone wrong, there is no more trouble.
When you are always on the right you are an example for all people.
When you are always on the left you are an example for no one.
When you can accomplish even your greatest task with unity of purpose, you are the clear example for all things.

The Tao flows in unchanging motion. It does not feel pain, and yet it feels nothing to be lessened. The highest virtues come from one's lack of desires. One who is at rest brings order to the world. One who is at peace brings peace to the world. Let the world be at peace. If you do not abolish desire, you are the clearest example for the world.

Always, watch the way That flows like an unchanging tide. Those who lack the Dao Exist and do not die. When men rob the precious stones, there is nothing that can be taken from them. That which has happened and that which is to happen Are both identical with the law of nature: beauty to the former, disgrace to the latter. Everything that happened and that which is to happen Is in accordance with Nature.

Next,
you must work on your body,
on your hands,

when the Spirit touches you,
when the voice of heaven speaks,

You have transformed to the complete light.
This transformation is completed.
It is a Secret Secret Secret.
One who understands it does not tell.
There is no object.

It is Nature's own way:
To do as it says, and stop trying to do what it doesn't say.

The Subtle Being is present in its primordial simplicity. It does not desire anything of the world and therefore no harm comes to it. With names and laws and feudal entities.The Way passes for Tao. The Subtle Being is hidden within its pristine simplicity.It is never desiring to move beyond its rightful place in the world.The world over, even if there are gates, and rulers and officials, it will not try to initiate contact with them.Without wanting to be moved, it abides and chooses its position;without seeking to be moved, it resides in the undivided self.Unoccupied, undivided self: It is free from all desire;In peace, it is even free from disorder.As such, it itself would turn to the world of the world.

The Way is constant;yet never does it fail.Heaven and earth unite,And with the children they bring,The myriad creatures themselves.If mankind could be like this,And bequeath all they wrought,To all under heaven, all would be born naturally;But if the world were to hold to this naturality,
Forced for the simple,All would drift in the social sea;And it could become peaceful and undisturbed.The kingdom of heaven and earth would embody sweet rain,The people would find it of themselves,And their households would long remain simple.If all were self-embracing,And possessed the Way of nature,This would be a simple state of Nature.It was only those who feared and held fast to Self-display,That in the belly of the state could ever remain eternally.
<|endoftext|>
There is something (Heaven) that is constantly without: Thus the myriad creatures have been made one. The Ten Thousand Things have been made one, And have grown whole without anyone's command. Without relying on names, yet a people will unite and arise. Heaven and earth will make a rain, It will fill the house, It will produce sweet dew. Thus all will have their needs satisfied.
<|endoftext|>
There is a thing that never ceases, giving existence to everything.The creatures have ever been made up of one.The ten-thousand things have ever been made up of one, And have obtained life from nothing.Without some force that can rule people, It would be a condition to live in harmony with nature.All things arise from their parents and come forth, Then everything is supplied by it.The original principle of things comes from nothing;Thus it is not adverse to the Way.It is for people as well that the way should be used, Because people need to be given the nourishment of Nature. If people had all been of this nature, It would be a natural state in the world.

Thus, there is neither transcendence nor emptiness.
There is neither transformation nor loss.
Thus the DAO is ever in motion.
Inevitably it overcomes all things by means of itself.
Thus the DAO is perpetual in its perfection.
Those without desire never return to it.
Those without desire always return to it.
Thus it is that nothing loses control.
Therefore the DAO can never be abandoned.
Thereby it goes without interruption.

In time-honoured ways, tao is always at one's center.
Dao gives birth to nothing yet there is nothing to give birth to.
If anyone gives birth to something,
It will be existing.
Desire only endures and it gives birth to something.
This is called 'convergence'
and cannot be reached with words.
Therefore, know you cannot speak to the people of people.
Therefore you keep to the gentle way.

The Tao is always in motion.
That is,
It does not get in the way or get out of balance.
It is ever everywhere and nothing can stop it.
If it could, it could transform everything into its components.
If it could transform everything, all the people would follow.
But if it could not transform everything,
Everyone would respond by joining the Tao.
If there is no end to the constant transforming of all things,
then all things would be like they are always without end.
All living things would then return to their natural form.
Where the Tao is present, life is natural.
Where the Tao goes, there is life.
Where the Tao stops, there is enlightenment.

The Tao never overcomes,
It always outlasts.
If people could embody the Tao,

And act without contriving.
Then things become Tao, and Tao becomes the world.

Constantly active, the Way has no urge to move. When people think about it, they realize that there is nothing. When people unite it, it is peaceful. When all become aware of its sovereignty, they do not display it. When no one dares, nothing changes. When the people learn the goal of the Way, they dedicate themselves to it. When the ruler honors the Way, nothing does wrong. The king gives up power and independence to the Tao and the people are freed from the corruption of the world.

The way is constantly inactive,yet cannot be stopped.When the people feel bound by it,the space is open.When they have realized its true nature, they are unbound.When those who are no rulers lack restraint,the people will fall back to themselves.When the government of men is free from desire,the earth will be fertile.When the government of people is without desire,the universe will promote freedom.

Heaven and earth (Mao's self) may work but cannot be stopped. When men strive to hold to it, it cannot be stopped. The people will have as their common ground a people without content. Lao Tze says,
All greatness is minute, like a valley, bright like springtime, quiet like the ocean, still like the land.

In the mountains,
The gazelles of them go out again,
The oxen turn round again, the roosters roost again.
Still the valley is a quiet place,
Like the ocean.
But it is a lowly valley,
Which is soft as the melting ice.
It is a place of soft dew,
Of the greatest mystery.
Even those who go out of doors
Can never get clear;
And no-one can restrain the multitude of things in the world.
So when men could alone
In order to govern the world,
All things would flock to them:
All things would have their right of rule,
And the world would not deviate from the law of natural equality.
When men can say to the world,
"We are for you one,"
The world will be one.
Thus the one state in the world
Is quite secure.
In the natural way, the hundred thousand things
Is thus full of life,
And so again more there is of natural tenderness.
Even though the people will not be exact with each other,
The state is without friction.
It is quite natural,
Indeed, what it does as a whole
It does according to the state of the whole.
So let it not be overly strict,
For, in the natural way,
The whole is following the way of the mother.

then I also feel pity.
If people are sincere, then I also feel compassion.
If people will act, then they will benefit from the power of Tao.
Tao cannot be feared,
but it's a lot like faith.

The Sage (/Te) is always at work and the
forces do not interfere. So when the feudal king manages to hold on, the ten thousand things follow. If a feudal king could be the same the ten thousand things would spontaneously abound. If he could be like the ordinary man, without desire, then every living thing would join. Without desire, the people would be quiet, and Heaven and Earth would be harmonizing. Unheeding and without longing, Heaven and Earth would take their places. The king should know he can do this and then there would be no worries. The 10,000 things will be in harmony and then he can govern himself.
<|endoftext|>
Heaven controls the planet. Earth governs the valley. And the empire governs the myriad creatures of the world. If the empire were to control them through non-action, They would gradually govern the world. If the empire were to act like a ruler, The ten thousand things would gradually join with them. If the emperor were to control the ten thousand things through action, The multitude of things would gradually unite. The empire would then realize (inspiration) the potential of the ten thousand things And then it would unite with the world. It is not possible to control the ten thousand things, And one should therefore allow the ten thousand things to do their own work. And to allow the hundred things to do their own work, One should, by acting alone, determine to be cautious.

The Sage governs all under heaven. They do not contend, so each must contend for a little.When a nation-state is ruled by a king, he turns the kingdom to the barons.When the barons turn the kingdom to the sage, it becomes a rite of passage.When you turn the kingdom to the barons, all under heaven will roll down their sleeves.I have never seen anything fail to roll down its sleeves, so the barons turn the kingdom over to the sage.It is not right to rule over an unoccupied country.A king who is not willing to do this, will lose the chance of independence.If a nation is ruled according to such a law, each nation will agree and allow for division.

Tao does not create (through doing), yet it is able to empty itself of all desire. Yet those who possess it do not control it, nor can they control it. Therefore the Sage: Holds the Economy of Tao and not any other. Therefore the Economy of Tao, although it may seem small, is also a great one. When the great thing is
forced upon it, it does not refuse to yield, and does not break it. It is as an empty vessel, but still resplendent.
<|endoftext|>
The Tao does not act and yet there is nothing that it does not do. Thus the Sage always acts, yet nothing remains that it does not do.
Being an empty vessel, the Tao is self-sufficient. Yet when the mind takes hold of the self-sufficient nature of the Tao, it will not abide with it.
Desiring to be contained, one may only be forced to submit.
Therefore the Sage holds the Economy of the Tao and does not hold on to the Economy of the world. The world is a container of the Tao, and that wherein it must be kept.
<|endoftext|>
Tao (absolute Tao) is not capable of anything [but rather] accomplishes nothing.
Therefore the Saint (a leader) does not try to get and accomplish.
He achieves nothing.
Desiring to act, I have to wait for the command of Tao.
He acts with the doer on the other hand:
I want to be quiescent.
I want to be free of desire.
When desire has no place, there will be quiet and orderly conditions.
<|endoftext|>
The Tao (Way) does not do.
Therefore, it accomplishes nothing.
Therefore, the gentleman never tries to do anything.
He accomplishes nothing.
Though he desires to act, I don't do anything.
Though he desires to be responded to, I don't do anything.
Though he desires to be created, I don't do anything.
Though he desires to be free, I don't do anything.
Though he desires to be made, I don't do anything.
The Tao never accomplishes anything.
Therefore, one can always go about doing nothing.
If desire exists, it will be empty, quiet, like a vessel.
If desire exists, it will be restless

The Tao, the ultimate desireless compassion, could be called the hidden grace of the universe.
The core of the universe,
shaping without change.
Heaven and earth,
not in action, without desire.
In nonaction,
involvement, without desire.
Non-action,
involvement, without desire.
Desire,
loyalty, and deception.
Since we may not desire,
free of desire
the void is fillable.
Free of desire,
knowledge

Since the Tao

it can be described.
The Tao, the ultimate emptiness of love, could be called the eternal conscience of nature.
The nature of nature reveals its hidden essence,
inside all wonders and unspeakable powers.
<|endoftext|>
The Simplicity of the Way is hidden, hidden, never known.
This simplicity is the Spirit of the Universe.
The Inner Spirit is hidden, hidden, even unknown.
All things evolve on the Way,
and without desire
they flourish.
The Tao gives birth to all things,
but it does not want them.
No desires
can ever make it go wrong.
It is the essence of the Tao,
and all things go their own way.
Each of them
invites a welcome response
From which comes the beginning of Creation.
Nature's nature is impartial,
not discriminating.
It exists alone, without desire,
and yet it has many children.
To desire a life beyond the Self
is not fit for Nature.
To act outside Nature
is against Nature's nature.
Nature knows this,
but it does not dwell therein.
It exists, and lives,
in the end, only because there is no Self.
Nature itself is unselfish,
neither daring to be self-assertive
nor stubborn to be self-reliant.
That is why Nature does not delight in the birth of things,
and it takes no pleasure in their destruction.
Why should it delight in the creation of things?
Because it cannot yet be led.
In this end, as in the beginning
Nature brings into being without desires,
without desire and without play,
the nature of all Things.
Because it has no desire it has power.
Because it has no power it is

At the first rule the people will take no notice of anything.
At the second rule the people will not be moved by any thing.
At the third rule the people will not stop by it.
Therefore, in teaching the people to pay no attention to anything that has not happened yet,
I have divided the people.
That which is not a man, I have separated from it.
Inasmuch as I have separated from it, I have no desires.
Having no desires I have no desires.
Thus it is by being without desires that one obtains in all places a set of rules;
By being without desires that one has no desires.
Inasmuch as one has no desires, one does not harm one's neighbours by forced abstinence from desiring.
And thus this Way of holding fast to one's nature will lead people to allow themselves to become by nature unselfish.

Do the rulers of the world

The myriad creatures thrive on it.
If the government were

The sage should realize
this and live nonviolently.
Hold to this and nothing would happen.
Manifest all being
to achieve the state of nonbeing.
Emptiness is the beginning of being.
Nothing is impure within man's being.
Nothing out of the common plain can stain his fabric.
No danger arising, he could maintain his equilibrium.
He could be without possessions,
being free of obligation.
Possessions are the origin of danger.
No danger can be created by possession.
If he could maintain such a state, all beings would flourish of themselves.
He who is free from fear will maintain equilibrium.
All beings will flourish of themselves.
He who is stable will maintain security.
The country can be settled by being free of fear.
Free from fear, the country will be at peace.

So treat them like they're natural creatures.
Simple being's work
Is the beginning of a life.
But no worries, let your being remain intact.
Endless goodness's potential
Is what leads to peace and harmony.
And being unmoved is still life's own back channel.
All things flourish of themselves.
If the ruler can keep them from striving,
Peace and harmony will be a permanent asset.
For, should the lord of kingdoms
Embrace this way of living,
Other lords would naturally follow suit.
By this it's possible:
Hold to the constant
And everything will flourish from itself.

Nature's natural way is what ensures the existence of peace and harmony.

To be a good person is to hold to the Tao.
That is why the great leaders hold to it;
and so we are never threatened.

Therefore, great men are good at holding on to it;
so that we, too, are good at holding on to it.

You will be protected, and be found without harm.
You will be at peace, and be found without conflict.
With the Tao there is peace and quiet.
It is in harmony with everything.
It brings peace to all things.
It is simply natural.
When people live according to this natural way of life,
they do not live in fear of harming others.
If these traits are learned, we can live in perfect peace.
If we are always at peace,
we do not need to do violence.

If we put things away from themselves and live in the experience of Tao, then the whole world will be completely well received.

Therefore, I would appreciate the Tao so I would stop thinking about myself. I would stop caring about myself.

One who knows the Tao (Tao of Heaven) acts with equanimity, and those who know the Tao are hardly fit to act. Those who are fit to act may naturally act, but those who are fit not to act will not be made fit to act. This is called "serenity and pacification." In this sense the virtuous are peaceful, and in the case of the virtuous it is true that they enjoy neither luxuries nor affluence. They can be content, and in the case of those who have no affluence they could be forgiven.

The good man without the Tao is ungracious. The good man of the Tao is easy going. The bad man without the Tao is quiet and restrained. All things are created and nourished by the universe. The universe is multitudinous, never identical, and therefore may not be a parody of itself. The universe is infinitely vast, yet it is never singular; rather it is infinite. Infinity does not presume to define itself. The universe is an ageless mirror. The universe is the mouth of the void, yet beyond space and time.
The universe contains all things. This is the source from which everything arises. It is also the source from which all have their fulfillment.
In order to understand the universe, one must not attempt to understand the universe.

The Tao does not act or withdraw;
When other things become mover,
Tao acts, but not to act,
When the four things go forward,
Tao withdraws.
That is why the sage never moves;
When he moves, he does not dare;
When things go into motion
He does not glorify the action;
And when events take place,
He does not exalt them.
This is why the world is the source, and the realm is the fulfilment.
All things emerge and arise from it;
But Tao is the origin of everything, and nothing is beyond it.

And the Tao is the source of everything, without exception.

The Tao may be described as a sudden appearance of reality. By it all things have the possibility of developing. They develop naturally, becoming alive. It is only when Nature declines that vitality begins to decline. Nature, when living on its own accord, progresses inexorably.
In the context of Tao, the Universe is like a large vessel. The vessel may sometimes be empty, but its potentiality is infinite. The Universe may sometimes be mischievously stable, but if it stays at home and quietly provides for its own growth, it will long endure.

The Tao is the hidden source of the world. All things are born of the Tao. The Tao resides within us all, and forever.
All things had a beginning, but the Tao had always been their master. The Tao always existed before humanity came, and all things that exist today arose from the Tao.
Manifesting all things and trying to control them, we reveal ourselves as the repressed Tao.
Manifesting all things and trying to control them, we reveal ourselves as the uncarved, uncut wood. Revealing ourselves as uncarved and uncut, we reveal ourselves as stillness and renewal.
The past was the beginning of the present. The Tao existed before humans existed. We know our root as the sky. We know our nature as the earth. We know our desires as the endless womb of life. The Tao can be understood only through the practice of the sacrificial Way of the Tao.

Everlastingly,
when this world was first established,
It was not the natural ordering that was manifest;
The laws that appeared to man were derived
from the primordial codes
and could not be regarded as existing
in themselves.
For its own sake,
all things were formed.
From the beginning of the universe,
all things have felt desire
and acted with definite purpose.
The universe being without desires,
it can act with full potential.
The universe without desires
can act with unlimited potential.
Now all beings are born of the primordial codes;
but the pure and profound codes
are all within us,
as we come of ourselves.
As we come of ourselves,
we can know that
we are all one in birth;
and the purity and profound codes
are all within us,
as we perish and die.
Born of the primordial codes,
the deep and profound codes
come to us,
like the sky;
and we ourselves
come to us,
as different beings.
We come from the same mother,
and are like the Earth.
But we may be called the parts of one
or the other;
like a cord,
or the root of a lotus.
Like the cord, we are bound by the Tao;
but we are like different beings
in the same bound.
For each of us
there is the root of the Tao,
like an old road.

Heaven and earth are immutable and self-subsisting and never change. Heaven alone is ever without change, only returning to the original place. He alone is free from self-creation, creates all things, yet his acts remain beyond himself.He alone is free of desire, creates without end.He alone is perfect, always completing.Through this he is not confused with the world.
The world therefore cannot be confused with the sage,
Therefore the sage who is free of desire becomes the teacher of the world.
This way the whole world can follow the sage,
Thereby beginning to be centered.
The sage's goal is to make all beings prosperous,And so he teaches the world what to do.
This way he can use the big picture and not boast.

Heaven and earth are eternal and subsist alone and ever-abiding, as a thing of dust and wood, just as solid and as it is moved from place to place.They do not quarrele, but are at peace within themselves, as if they were neither disturbed nor disturbed, as if they were still in peace, or ever still and as if they could exist without the desire of becoming.Being so, he who follows their example will understand and be without complaint; just so, the Master cultivates [or tries] to bring all under the spell of the Principle, not only what is useful but also what is useful only [of those whom] he would naturally have under the spell.The only use for which he makes such teaching is so that others may be of his [his principle] will; and indeed he takes his teaching to serve his own purposes.

Can its essence's utility be general?Dao's function in its essence never disintegrates.With perfect integrity, it is always the same.The creative Principle itself is in complete gentleness,And does not contemplate the "grand" Tao's limit;The Manifest Principle in it seems to enter,And never returns.When a person's virtue is totally in balance with the root virtue of Dao,He will in no time become impartial.When the root virtue is in balance with the creative virtue,He will with simplicity and benevolence rise. Lao Tze says: The mysterious virtue in the Cosmic womb is not hidden, it is without flaw or imperfection. To the end of Heaven and Earth, it keeps alive and nourishes all creation.It is beyond external things, it does not confine its service to the desires of anyone. To the end of Heaven and Earth, it does not cherish honour for its own. As the Manifestation of the Hidden is beyond being shown, I will make it clear to others with my words. If a king wishes to have his subjects to yield to him, he has his realm to do so by the conventional way of holding, which I call the cave of the Formless Tao.To the end of Heaven and Earth, they do not presume to coerce or force their subjects to do anything of their choosing. If lords and kings would abide by this, then all under Heaven would be at peace.

Lao Tze says,The Tao is truly nothingness. It has no existence. Being nothing, it has life. Its life is like light. It is like an uncarved block of wood.The King and the nobility embrace it, and it is lived on. The Tao is nameless, yet no one knows it by itself. <|endoftext|>
The unceasing Nameless Way is then called the most nameless. Although some people have the notion that it is the Female, this is really the Male. Since he is the Male, it is the Female. He who wishes to be something wishes to exist, thereupon he lives and does not depart from it.One who is contented lives in the comfortable. The One that dwells in the comfortable exists in order;The one who dwells in dissipation Lives in the Great Cave of non-existence.Therefore the Way is to live the One's nature, and live in accordance with the Tao.

The World, on the other hand, had long been (always) so (in its restless state), that, now that it has been contented, it may well decide to depart from its proper course. The Tao is hidden, but not unworthy. If a ruler recognizes it, ten thousand things will change, so the rulers will change too.If a ruler recognizes it, one finds that in changing he uses words and names, causing ruin to the fruit.If one uses the words and names, it causes a change in the fruit, and it may be that the change has nothing to do with use of words and names.If one does not cause ruin, then at the end of the day those who have stayed with the Tao will not be destroyed.

Tao is hidden and "orphan." It can be a ruler. As a ruler, the ten thousand things will flow towards it. When they reach it, will take rebirth in them. When reborn, they will destroy one another. With the unity of Dao! A person of integrity gives his life to assist people, if you can also allow to aid people. When one does not treat people well, one will not endure in the universe.
Therefore the wise one should keep to the Dao that is natural to the universe, so as to deal with people of integrity without subjection.
He is still with the way that is natural to the universe and is still without favor.
Thus he will not harm people.

The Tao is an undifferentiated mover of nothing. If lords and kings could keep it, all creatures would become indistinguishable.The undifferentiated unchanging would become a mysterious presence. Intricately hidden, the mystery would appear. Transcendent and unpervailing, it would become the central portal. Emptied of desire, it would become hidden. Solitary, it would become expansive. The universe would be created in the unity of the Dao. The Dao is always unchanging, always invisible. If rulers and lords had the wisdom to keep it, the ten-thousand things would flourish without limit.If the ten-thousand things flourished without limit, abundance would arise spontaneously.If they flourished spontaneously, then they would lose none. In their nobleness, they would be devoid of distinction. The Awakened world would of itself be rightly ordered.

The Way is something nameless; if the king rules, creatures will grow into something; if the sage rules, creatures will become to things. The nameless is gradually matured and becomes just. Indulging in extreme self-discipline, excess of self-control in the world is met with regression. Indulgence in extreme self-discipline in the world is met with deprivation. Only while being withdrawn from deprivation are there left-over desires. This is the insight into the simple, simplicity is the core of enlightenment.

The ancient Tao, Standing alone, cannot be commanded,And therefore it is nameless.When the lords and kings rule, All things grow, and therefore they are of the same nature.But self-righteousness seems a way of growth;It would be better to maintain some humility and stillness;To be still would mean to be withdrawn, To be withdrawn would mean to be multitudinous, And multitudinous means lost.So the sage must let go of the self,And hence self-sufficiency emerges.Showing selflessness, the Sage himself has no self;Only then will he be fully grounded.Ineness in its entirety becomes complete.The world emerges.

He who identifies the Tao with namelessness becomes living
While yielding him, he becomes energy.
He who bears to him becomes energy.
He who gives to him becomes energy.
He who dwells on him becomes energy.
Without discarding himself,
He yields himself to the Tao.
Discarding himself,
He dwells on the Tao.
Without dwelling,
He finds peace.
He cannot abide on the tangles of things;
He goes to the middle

The Way is nothing named.
This is the constant, and can be preserved.
The Nameless Way is natural,

He who bears the Way

Who declines, is able to live;
Who dwells, is free from desire.
Who is free from desire,

The Tao is neither named nor is it sown.
Thus it never dies.
Hence, it can be preserved.

The one who desires to see the Name
Is to remain without desire.

Whoever is able to be at ease with change will be at one with all beings.Whoever is able to become aware of the subtle, will know all things.Whoever is able to renounce apparent things, can thereby know the hidden things.If one does not know the hidden things, one does not know the invisible things; for being ignorant of the invisible, one does not know the hidden.Knowing the hidden, one does not commit folly; the world will thus become the fruit of the sage.If a master man has the nature to know all things, he will accomplish his goal; but if he is not aware of this, his aim remains unreal.He who knows his goal is correct and just; if he is not just, he acts with justice and fairness.When the instruments of the ruling wise person are in proper working order, the world will be governed with the end of the bad and the triumph of the good.

A living person is not an object of wonder to him. Thus, he sees that simplicity is the only way to lead people. The uncarved block is the origin of the block. When the sacred knows the sacred, the sacred know the uncarved block. When the block is uncarved, the block becomes effective. If the block is not effective, there will be holes. That is why we have the four-wheeled chariot: it is as big as the chariot, but the axle is made of wood. With the same kind of wood as the axle. Now, people transform the transformed. There is no wonder in heaven and earth that Heaven and Earth can act and support everything that comes and goes. They can act and preserve everything that comes and goes and do so without falling into temptation.
Since they act, they do not interfere; that is why we say: When Heaven and Earth act, the ten thousand things do the same. When ten thousand things do the same, heaven and earth act, and do so without springing their own power. They do not spring their own power; if they are not springing their own power, then they must be without power. But Heaven and Earth do not spring their own power; to have no power, there is no need to act. And there is no need to act, because the universe depends on nothing but it. The universe exists by itself and contains without ever needing to be replenished. The universe is able to be based upon nothing. It can be founded upon nothing and yet be whole.

The Tao (the law of the universe) cannot be examined.Is it worth comparing it with?It cannot be compared.Is it not worth knowing the difference?Is it not worth knowing the differences?Can it be compared to this?That is why when one measures the corners of the world there can be no account.If we do not control them, the world cannot be divided.The world in its turn cannot be divided.Such being so, we call the state which is the only one for those who know the Tao.

The way of the universe is always silent, therefore it is not like any other.One can therefore treat it as "the invisible" and the "unquiet part".The silent part of the universe is identical with the Unquiet.A corner is neither quiet nor silent;Therefore, when one does not force things, the whole is all in accordance.If we do not coerce people, people will not refuse;Therefore we call it "the unchanging".

Tao is hidden and yet highly versatile.It is beyond comprehension, so it is not within its reach.What is so hidden cannot be described.What is highly versatile cannot be measured.Things which cannot be named can't be distinguished.To be thus able, therefore, are all the ways,And in order to define cannot force things.Do not desire to take by forceThe Tao-nature of everything.Keep to the simplicity of simplicity,Settling everything,If possible,Free of the kingly type.To free yourself from those thingsIs to be receptive of the wholeTao.We may all live in harmony,

Do not try to hide what is most important inside yourself.It will not be wasted.If you realize this, you will not waste it.The Tao does not force what it wants to possess, and does not cause its completion.If you want to display your efforts, let your true nature shine forth.If you want to proclaim the perfection of your work, let it be done with sincerity and on purpose.Do not dwell on what is within.The Tao is without expectations, and within it nothing is empty.Through this perfects itself, then nothing is left undone.It is well to leave nothing undone.

A perfect, incorporeal man strives for the physical body.He attains perfection, but does not become perfect.The material body is perfect, but it is not perfect.In their desire for perfection, people try to become perfect.I can give them this as an example. I can hold a block of wood and let them work it with perfect skill, so that they become dull and flexible, so that they lose their natural way of existing.This means I am able to accomplish the desire for perfection, but making them lose their natural way of existing.It is simply this that causes them to become desireless. They become so and remain perfect.

Perfect becomes imperfect.The very presence of imperfectness has become the prime of perfectiveness.A perfect man finds strength in imperfection, to feel that he is able to return to the more original capacity of the human being.We do not seek to be perfect, but find that we are, and that we must return to the stillness and the openness of simplicity that we all know is in perfectness.

For the selfish one the world has many points. If the sage were to have the spirit of this,He would not go through actions and say what he has to say, but would keep his body in silence, leaving the material world and its myriad beings to him. Thirty-two things have not yet disappeared; why maintain this by endurance? Why will I long endure them all? Let it be kept not thus, but revert to being what I am. When you don't want to be great, people expect you to be.
When you don't wish to be ordinary, people expect you to be outstanding.
And that's what it means:

Those who know Tao avoid mutation and are natural. Those who practice it avoid willful action and always act spontaneously. Those who are not aware of Tao rarely achieve calm; those who lack knowledge of Tao rarely become accomplished. Those who were successful in producing the World achieved without any evidence or knowledge that they had worked hard and improved it in a timely manner. Without intelligence and not knowing that people could be improved, I am comfortable with those who presume their progress without trying to show people how the method works. I can't force people to my way. If I am moved I drift off.

Those who understand Tao seldom act rashly.Those who practice Tao are never high spirited or arrogant.Those who act without intention are always slowly drifting in the direction of Tao.Those who lack any understanding of Tao end in becoming confused.Those who are possessed by Tao eventually fall. Tao is never on the back; like a bow, the wind rarely moves in front. Indeed, in the way it is the Tao is subtle. The winds do not blow and the rocks do not collapse; the water does not freeze and the earth does not break; the people never become rustic. The Tao never fails.
<|endoftext|>
The Tao of ancient times is the Eternal Simplicity. When the Saint is present and at home in the Tao, everything flows to nature and roars without fail. To guide, do not value a person, nor praise a nation; to see things without your eyes, cannot be. The sage is present, and free from harm. He is free of enemies, not even in death, whereby they are without disgrace.
<|endoftext|>
The gentle source of the Tao never stops; it cannot be toppled.It is constant, ever gathering, and never contracting;for it is undistinguished and changeless.In Heaven and Earth, the harmony of the Tao is perfect;there can be no disarray;this perfection follows.Because we don't crave praise, we don't need it;in death, we do not need it;we need nothing.In this, too, the wisdom is true.
<|endoftext|>
In the ancient world, Tao's mechanism was called hidden and invisible,
Hidden and elusive. Yet its gentle and subtle flow is inexhaustible,
Moving and existing without ceasing.
Whenever heaven and earth settle, they receive new beginnings.
If a man shall obey without value,
he will not be rejected by the world.
If heaven and earth turn to him,
they cannot find fault;
he is above the world.
If he regards society, he is not despised;
the very end of the world.
Without vain cares, the entire world remains.
Without praising the self,
the self cannot be disgraced.
Without blamewal, without hatred,
unite all under heaven.
In truth, even if men do not understand, they seem to.
The Tao does not oppose anyone,
he who acts for the sake of himself is welcomed.
If one does not act for the sake of others,
their righteousness can not be recognized.
In this respect the Tao is similar to us
--It keeps to the truth and lives it.

The Way is never in motion.
And yet when the realm moves, it does not cause a bump.
But when the kings and princes follow the Way, it remains stable.
And when the people rise up against it, it does not act.
When the world does not lie quiet, it will act.
Therefore the sage, when governing by the Way, is like the wave of a lake that never departs.
The world is indifferent to that, and not wanting to act.
The sage then holds a calm state, and it is like a calm place.

With its name with lasting power,
There was never that unruly spirit
That set it on a course of evasive action.

If the world and the Tao did not rebel against each other
And the unified mankind endured,
They might issue forth to manifest themselves.
If the world and Tao did not rebel against each other
And the united mankind endured,
They might yet act;
And if the world and Tao were not rebel against each other
And the united mankind survived
They would do so, with mildness;
And if the world and Tao did not rebel against each other
And the united mankind survived,
They might just be a little,
A little rebellion!
And if the world and the Tao were not rebellious against each other
And the united mankind survived,
They would act without a word.
When the supreme male (the rulership)
Is alone, the world knows the course he follows;
But when there are princes and nobles,
the world knows the world follows him.
Therefore he who governs alone

The one who governs with princes and nobles
Seeks the outer (fen) to guide his course;
The one who governs alone and the world
Seeks the inner (wu) to guide his course.

I use it for analysis.But I don't use it to make distinctions.And just because I don't use it, can't be said I'm using it too much.I see a state, but it doesn't appear like a state.A place, but it doesn't appear like a place. A multitude of things, but they don't appear to be myriad.I'm no good at counting.I find a thing, but it doesn't appear to be a thing.And I see a thing, but it doesn't appear to be a thing.Things always come into existence by themselves.When things are not interested, they do not create.When there is no division in people, no aggression, nothing is necessary to order.Therefore the Sage in all things uses his utmost benevolence,And does not expect people to do his work.He uses his utmost prudence,And does not expect people to act in accordance with his way.He uses his utmost compassion,And does not expect people to listen to his way.Forget about things, and everything will come into being.

Those who follow the Way must trust in the reason of Tao. It is always there, yet we can never know it's existence. The wise person knows Tao is not self-existent, but perceives that it is so. He doesn't try to do so, and yet Tao exists. It is not something existing, it is perfectly self-existing. Tao is unlimited. It isn't grasped, it does not leave. What is considered "evil" - Is not the original at all.
The root of all evil is nothing, The origins of the greatest good is nothing. Things naturally change as they come to, But once they are in, nothing is left. So Tao may be compared to a valley,

Tao-Nature is uncarved; and its unbroken existence extends even into the six-thousand-year old.

Because it comes to be, the people regard it with respect.
Because they regard it with respect, the people of the world regard it with care.
Because they regard it with care, the people of the world regard it with humility.
Because they regard it with humility, the people of the world regard it with peace.

In governing the world, we first of all advise that which is without being, namely, that which is doing nothing. Next we advise that which is doing anything, namely, that which has no beginning. After this we advise nothing, namely, that which is acted on. Therefore Tao performs all the virtuous actions, And as no one assists Tao in action, Tao accomplishes its work without any interference, The world then results as it should, For there are the good masters that lead their people on.

Give oneself completely, then do nothing.Acknowledge the unlimited, and give birth to all things.Acknowledge nothing, and return to nothing.Acknowledge the unlimited, and then be entire.Acknowledge the things and return to the emptiness.Acknowledge the things, and then return to the myriad things.Acknowledge the myriad things, and then be complete.Doing everything will not achieve anything.Because everything has a beginning, it will not be without a beginning.It is always without an end.Everything that has birth, always has an beginning.The Tao of Tao is absent of desire,It is absent of craving,It is absent of intention,And always has without.
<|endoftext|>
Be completely at one with one's self: Give it no thought about its own presence; Give it no thought about the end of its life.If you cease to worry about it, it will not be long-lasting.If you cease to fear it, you will not be long-lived.I tell you this in accordance with the Way of Nature.For this reason the sage honors what is free of desire,When the Tao of Nature has ceased to be desireless,What is free of desire,What is free of desire,What is free of desire,What is free of desire,What is free of intention,What has no end, is long-endowed.
<|endoftext|>
Give yourself completely to nothing.Tho' desire abides in nothing, The world will do nothing.If desire abides not in anything, All things will move on their own.Thou shalt know of this:"Thou art entirely ignorant of desire. Within these laughest, Truth doth not tryTo satisfy it,The name of subtle truth doth not bespeak it,The words' nature doth not clarify it.The world in its hundred thousands is quiet, Being whole within itself.
<|endoftext|>
He who has the Tao is not riven with desire, because desire never leaves the heart.He who has not the Tao does not fear decay.The spirit of the universe is like that of a vessel that is not well filled.The change of a vessel does not last long, the vessels of the world are built up by the will of the master.On the contrary, the Tao that leads the master towards love is not (purposeful) love.
======================================== SAMPLE 7 ========================================
<|endoftext|>
When the Tao is thin, it lasts a long time.The most strenuous learning never stops developing, and the leader never gets tired of countering what he calls the 'superior' students.It's precisely because these inferior students have never given up on the Way that they can still be refuted by it.The Way needs not be thick, for it never fails.In many respects, the Tao is without name: and the useful thing (the Tao) which it seems to hide is in fact what's so intuitively simple to us that we can only understand its concrete form. Simple, and uncontrived, and untrammelled by any thought or desire.The whole world in its natural vitality and rest, in its constant original continuity, is utterly peaceful and so is kept from harm by the Tao.
<|endoftext|>
By hollowness the tao is preserved, for a long time.Although vigorous learning never abandons [even though the words of the master may not be understood for some time].A true king's system of government never loses its essential character.Because his essentials do not disappear, nobody is bound to do his will.The way of a general is not unarticulated, and the way of the lord is not abstract.It is in keeping with the nature of the natural, which does not make claims on man.This universal nature is preserved by hollowness.It is constant in its nature and it is without other kinds.He who has obtained the comprehensive nature in himself has the advantage over his neighbours of being in perfect equilibrium, that is to say, not losing his equilibrium.This is the most natural of things, and as for itself:he knows only the shapeless.This nature and shapelessness are inexhaustible.We must pass through them in order to understand them.This is called the immeasurable simplicity.
<|endoftext|>
Silence is constant, And longevity is assured.Thought alone is not weakened, Neither is it bestowed.Such a simplicity seems artificial, But it becomes the highest among all subtlety.Since he who lacks art as a ruler can do little, As for politicians: The Master may but forever seems unattached.The natural way seems to dwell;But when lost it too appears.Pleasant and tranquil there, Steady! his heart goes to all things.All things without end, keep firm hold of the natural.

Do not dedicate treasure to sacrifice.Yet there may be profit.Do not gorge and mingle riches.And then there may be hunger.Do not covet after wealth;Yet there may be loss.Do not crave to have enough.Therefore,Abandon desire and desirelessness arise.Then there is a perfect absence of desire and of desirelessness.Absence of desire and desirelessness and the completion of emptiness.
<|endoftext|>
Honor it. Sacrifice it.Eliminate it.Become ever-whole-without it.In order to avoid confusion,Abandon personal excellence,All beauty, to become one with the Tao.If you lose it, You will have at last your perfection.

Thou hast a symbol which contains virtue (Teh) and virtue lacks (tl-chang).Therefore, only being able to assist it (Teh) is sufficient to possess (tl-chang).Becoming thus possessionable, you become thoroughly enlightened (tl-chang), and
you are thereby transformed (tl-chang).You are thus completely transformed.That is why "My love (wu) and my loathing (yu) are in harmony and one."By this one (wu) no longer is the one (tl-chang).Therefore, my love is not selfish, my loathing is not universal, neither does this (tl-chang) be the result of love (wu).The truly virtuous (tl-chang) with no selfishness, pure love is the way.

"Having four treasures has obtained virtue.It is good to keep them yet have no desire.With no longing, you can be one with the Tao.Without desire you will be content with small matters.Without dwelling, you will be in the state of emptiness.Therefore, those with no desire will overcome the conceited."So those with desire do not want.Being content with nothingness there is real emptiness.Therefore those without desire have no need for desire."Therefore those with desires have no need of desire."Thus the Tao appears as the want and desire of those with no desires.The real Tao appears as the emptiness of being content without seeking."Without wanting anything, there is nothing to desire.""Therefore, those without desire are the people with no desire."Therefore, they are the people without desire.Thus it appears that the

Dwell without attachments to something
and it's free from all problems.
Do not concern yourself with things, and they die.
Look not at it, and it stays there.
That's why, in the beginning, it did not want to be free.
It is like a bird without wings, it is carried in the air like a hurricane
And yet it never needs to be alert,
it lays aside its natural order,
only its not-so-natural order.
Because it doesn't need to seek to become known, it lives in a calm place,
and when it's empty, it moves about.
When the Tao comes to you, be careful to keep the uncarved block together and so you'll preserve the ancient Tao.
<|endoftext|>
Ever-endlessly
Plunging from the steady body
The tao returns to the source
The thread left behind has no need of saving
The uncarved block dwells
It allows a person to receive without effort
That person, like the uncarved block, will live as unproduced
Therefore, there can be no possession
Therefore, there can be no desire
Therefore, there can be no disorder
Therefore, there can be no resistance
Therefore, there can be no fears.
This is why all great things arise from the unoccupied space
The tao flows to the uncarved block
As uncarved blocks do; they become the products of desire
Therefore, the unoccupied space
Should not be conceived of as the unoccupied space,
No attachment to the space as the space itself,
Where these two things intermingle.
Thus the empty space becomes the source of enlightenment
It will transform itself
And it has achieved this because it never tries to dominate
It has achieved this because it has no desire
It has achieved this because it is still!
It will become so complete, that it will forget about itself
<|endoftext|>
Going beyond sensation, the "absolute is still."
Between substance and essence, "the essential is still."
The highest goal is forced to arise in a difficult situation.
Being pure and calm, this elusive stillness suffuses the whole.
Do not wander. Be still.
Where will your path end?
You cannot always know when it will end.
Be in the stillness and stillness.

Grasp power lightly and you can't defeat it.
Hold power and you'll lose it.
Fulfill your ambition and you'll get nowhere.
Better to retire and let the wind of change do the work.
True simplicity's end is freedom of the mind.
True simplicity's fruit is peace.
A valley where no-thing ever grows grows naturally;
There's no need to possess to dominate.
<|endoftext|>
If you pound lightly at all, you will not be able to pound deeply.
To know and not to know
One is trapped in perfect harmony.
The Tao is on and off
Between these two things we are
Peace, and the emptiness
Of Nature itself
The Way to Heaven and Earth
Is to keep the mind at rest
And not to be agitated
To learn, there is nothing to learn
And to desire, there is nothing to desire
This whole body is at rest,
While Heaven and Earth are at rest,
Loving each other
With quiet perfect trust
And nothing more.
<|endoftext|>
One who exalts himself lightly, will not be able to conquer.
One who leans back, will not be able to recover.
One who wants for nothing, will not be able to get something.
If the ruler did not try to conquer, things would be a real paradise.
Therefore, he must follow the way of the way and not try to compete with it.
To stay at the back of all is the way of the Tao.
To abide by it is to be at one with the Tao.
If the ruler does not compete with the Tao, and doesn't meddle with what is already complete, then the world will be at rest.
The Tao cannot be controlled.
The Tao is still and does not desire to be controlled.
Therefore the world is at peace and returns to the Tao like returning to Tao.

To set one's full-grown head above one's fellow men - That is to treat them harshly.
To come to the utmost of one's capacity - That is to step out of bounds.
A constant is the state of perfect peace

The empire in its steady peace
Will attend to the constant

There is no "Great" of the universe,Yet it cannot be repressed.Therefore, what is great is never preserved.Its end is foreseen;Wherefore, it is put off as "very little."And if it are preserved, what is in it really marvelous?It is eternal, and therefore it cannot be exhausted.If it can be exhausted, what is therein be, really marvelous?This being so, it is nothing more than a vacancy.And if it can hardly be anything more than that, it is void of all significance.Therefore, if you are at all wary of something, You will be at its mercy,And everything will become well-ordered.
<|endoftext|>
There is no great principle,But that which cannot be named.The great is to be given up,For that which cannot be given up is eternal.And so is it preserved.What is deep and deep yet not exhausted?Is, in fact, the end of things.What is deep and deep yet not being exhausted is to be called a hole,An insufficient hole,Yet it is in fact the beginning of things.If you look deeply,You see that all this is being done.If you think the job well done,You see it, too, is subject to exception.Therefore, there is a great end.For everything begins as the great end.
<|endoftext|>
The greatest, though not the great, is never abandoned.Therefore, when the greatest is lost, it is preserved.The deep does not prove too deep, the deep does not beget too deep.It could become the beginning of anything.The deep cannot be determined, therefore it is thought of as deep.What it can be resolved into is known.What it can be resolved into is known as its real origin, its real outset, the real goal, and the beginning of all truth.Knowing the source of truth is called great wisdom.Understanding the source of truth is called great wisdom.The source of truth is long understood.To know the source of truth is called wisdom.Great knowledge is the beginning of all truth.
<|endoftext|>

If you take hold of Te and hold it hard, All-pervading, All-giving, Ever-ready to fulfill All-pervading All-giving Always un-ending: Oh, it never fails to satisfy. Ah, all things grow; Each receives sustenance; Each receives sustenance; Each receives sustenance; Each receives sustenance; Each receives sustenance; Each receives sustenance; Each receives sustenance; Each receives sustenance; Each receives sustenance; Each receives sustenance; Each receives sustenance; Each receives sustenance; Thus do all things work to feed on nourishment that never fails: This is the Way of the Simplified.
<|endoftext|>
When you hold the constant Tao and hold it firmly it never lets go. Truly it doesn't care about what people say.Hence, it serves all people effortlessly.Hence, the Tao is never-ending.Since it never needs to be used, people can live easily.It is the TAO of peace, undisturbed tranquility.Wealth comes through:I do not desire many things, therefore it is through those that do not desire much that I am able to satisfy. Therefore the nameless Tao provides my Master with all needs and joy.I take no care of myself, therefore I am able to bring things about.I am greatly satisfied by non-lifest, by not wanting to be pleased.My Master doesn't wish to be pleased, therefore he has nothing to desire.Such peace and serenity are known as Dao.

Hold the eternal square of Virtue and taming it, all-pervading, all-equalling, never-disregarding, always overflowing [one above the other, and thus each unvarying in its complement], yea, it never fails to exist and to improve the myriad beings [all mingled], yea, it would never cease to receive them, and to tend them well. Hence:Those having bountiful nature on earth can thereby take joy in their sustenance, those having provision, the right atmosphere, may be free from calamities, and so may become true and perfect [the multitude]. Hence the yang and the yin harmonize with one another in their arising. I therefore only see the few that could not greatly benefit others having the further in their manner toward them as the path towards which [all true] virtue is directed.

The Dao Way looks active, but everything is done. If Leaders will follow, everything will fall into place. If leaders follow, things will turn around. If things turn around, there will be conflict. If there are enough conflicts, there will be calm. If there are too many conflicts, there will be chaos. If there is too much chaos, things will appear as straw.
The Tao Way has no beginning, no end. And it can be followed by anyone who is open-minded.
Buddhists are awakened, yet nothing is found to oppose them. Those who look only at the outward might lose sight of the inner. Those who look only at outward might lose sight of the inner. Only when there is nothing left to lose, is peace in the heart. A lack of peace invites disinterest. Being desirous of more than one thing creates sorrow. Not desiring another has produced happiness.
The Tao Way is all-embracing and infinite, even in its simplicity. In the world, people rely on it, and all, all, will be well. The life of the Way means that it is subtle and open. The simple is the beginning of Infinity, and the myriad ways of life, for the simple ends in nothingness. For the simple, light is sought and life comes, and it is life itself that is laughed at. People who laugh at the light are tired, with no purpose. People who laugh at the simplicity find it difficult to accept the Infinite. It is because they do not accept it that Infinity finds that simplicity.
<|endoftext|>
The tao is everything and nothingness; it is without end. The path of the tao is the Way of All Things; everyone follows it. In this way, the Way exists, is all encompassing, and at no cost, all living, all living with nothing, All-existing and without desire, all having all, all knowing everything, without asking for anything or expecting a reward, all having enough, knowing everything, without expecting anything, all having the belief that everything is also everything, without being afraid of anything, taking advantage of everything and without being selfish, receiving everything and without being the least bit selfish. The tao is all-pervasive. It can be followed by any of the myriad things, but whoever follows it finds there is nowhere to stop. Some people are content to observe the smallest details. If you must follow the tao, watch out for the minute
======================================== SAMPLE 4 ========================================
The Tao Way is very passive. Things happen naturally. The Tao Way looks on, but nothing is done. If the leader follows the Tao Way, the world will come into existence. People will become enlightened and not confused. At the same time a vacancy of their desires, so these people will grow a fair number of desires. The great crowd will have many desires. The Tao Way is not complex, just one simple way.

The Tao does not talk,
The world doesn't require explanation
Sage Te is silent,
To its left,
To its right,
To the PATH,
Through all things,
It acts all the time,
Turning back to it and looking,
Perceiving everything,
All things,
Turning back to it and looking,
Receiving everything,
All things,
Turning back to it and looking.
What is hidden and dark is never lost.
The Sage is serene.
The Way seems inactive,
But everything happens.
When the leader of men,
As the way,
All the world conforms,
All love and wealth grow.
The gentle leader is grandiose.
The many appear new and dazzling.
The sage keeps to the ordinary,
Which is subtle and impersonal.
As Nature is subtle and eternal,
The Sage does not assert himself.
Yet as the empty shell of the world,
Sages do not forget their past.
Knowing what is nameless,
The lonely and lost,
The humble and honoured,
The mysterious and ordinary,
They are for the sake of happiness,
All blossoms for the sake of exquisite form.
The Wise Person doesn't push for more.
He is content with the simple and ordinary.
In truth the Cosmic Light resides in the inner emptiness,
Which is infinitely subtle and true.
<|endoftext|>
All things are well regulated by the Laws of Nature, but those who aim at physical knowledge are at a loss.
They are therefore hostile to the Tao.
Nature guides men to the best path, and they follow it.
They are barely aware that they have been wronged.
They learn now.
They are discerning.
Now they are wise.
Now they are free.
They receive all things impartially, and take in hand all things impartially.
They hold all things well within their grasp, and they use them impartially

Favour of this Way Is to be as impartial as a guest, To be as generous as a widower, To be as simple as a student, To be as maddening as a wild animal, To be as welcoming as a hundred people. Favour is like a sweet ruddy, Bread and water are like a lamp. The sage hears all good and bad from Heaven and the guest welcomes all guests, Simple is the method of good, Open the door of bad,
Noble the method of bad,
For all is very good and very bad, Therefore the wise will also be righteous and righteous will be humble, And simple will be the path of the world.
Good and bad may be divided but all in origin are good. What follows is what should precedes. Its original source is what follows.
It's original are truth and falsehood, and if the latter are not sound, there's nothing left to dismiss.
<|endoftext|>
The Tao is as impartial as a guest.
As generous as a widower.
As non-hurtful as a child.
As brilliant as a lamp.
As wise as an idiot.
As solid as rock.
In this way, the Complete Tao is as an infant.
As an expert is as a fool.
As solid is as non-solid.
This is Truth as goodness and badness.
As a way is as rugged.
As an extreme is as genuine.
Not doing a whole, these are dao.

Favour of the Tao is like a guest.
Discreetness is like a widower.
Valuing a child like an infant.
Direction is like a light.
Hence simplicity is as the Primal Absolute.
Without multiplicity there is nothing to be examined,
And simplicity is Tao itself.
Nothing is imitated, but Tao is itself.

Being favour of the Tao,The guest behaves just like a guest.
We all value people equally;It is only when there is difference that people can be hated.

"Vague in form,
Gole, formless!"
The One
Is moving;
The One
Is hidden;
The One
Is bright;
The One
Is empty;
The One
Is gentle;
The One
Is rough;
The One
Is hard.
Thus is there the One (the perpetual Way),
Which keeps all things at rest;
It shelters all things,
Which quells all disturbances.
It is there that no people dwell,
And that no district rule
Amass such a vast territory.
Who in his mind holds fast to the One (the Way)?
<|endoftext|>
The Way's vague!
It is like an obscuration.
Its formless!
It is like a vacuity.
Is it bright?
The brightness is still in it.
Is it low?
Is it dark?
Is it gentle?
Is it hard?
Is there no worry?
The Way keeps all things still.
It clothes all things,
And manages the domain.
What is lacking there
Must exist
And yet it has no desires.
What is lacking there?
Must fill its spaces.
<|endoftext|>
In the nameless Way all sounds have their origin.
The formless is like depth,
The formless like a void,
The void like a bright sky,
The bright sky like a blossom garden,
Blossom gardens like a muddy place,
Mud and dew on one's face,
Blown and ragged on one's back.
The way is the path,
Not out of mind.
How can one
Hold on to what is
But one has no desires?
How can one maintain
But have no house?
<|endoftext|>
Vanish
The subtle airy soundless
widow of the Way.
The formless
can be seen.
The formless
is a blur.
Hence!
The light of it flows
Until it is in danger.
Thorns grow everywhere
But without an aim.
Hence
The 'white light'
comes to life.
From this come the
specks
of life,

See if a good ruler is called good. See that his person is not conspicuous. See that his ruler is not named. If that is not possible, he may imitate the life of a wild animal. See how at times the yang and the yin depend on each other, as they do at times at the splitting of a great cord. He who follows this pattern becomes one with his lord. One who goes without, as on a journey, looks like a stranger in a foreign land. But when he takes the road that makes him happy, he looks like a guest in a foreign land. The simple and the unworthy who may presume to act as rulers, have no future to expect. This is the second way of heaven.

Know that the way is good if good cannot be shown. That it is good when the way is not plainly shown. Know that it is good when you cannot see it clearly. Know that it is good when it is in contradiction with the sequence of Nature. If these two opposites cannot coexist, the ten thousand things will fail to come into existence. That is the Way being so beneficial. It acts without intent, but is with ease and contentment. The profiteers have no right to interfere in the social order. Those who maintain this "Peace and Harmony," by contrast, are likely to gain their profit from the higher standpoint. The Way benefits all things and achieves prosperity on behalf of the masses. Therefore it is said:
What has bene bene's has bene's bene's.

It is best to know how things are; one may look as if one can see them, to see them as if one could see, though he must see them dimly. It is best to know how things grow; to know their growth is to see clearly and actually, though one may have it dimly. It is best to know how things go on in themselves; to know their action, is to see them effectually. It is best to know when things are right; to know their transformation, is to know their permanence.

When a man of good character rules over the whole world, the people are brought to the understanding of one general Way. When there is a Grand Minister of the Empire, those whose minds are supreme understand everything;
And those whose minds are insufficient understand the different ways.
When those with no mind themselves are provided with it,
The things to which they relate, the things to which they refer,
Perceive, indeed, as they do, what they cannot see;
They have not seen it, and it has not appeared to them to appear.
Thus,
They, who are unoccupied with their affairs,
Have the land of their people in order;
And when the good ministers and rulers will not interfere with them,
There will be harmony and tranquillity established in the Empire.

When governing a nation, let there be a ruler whom one respects; but let him also have confidence in the people.
When governing a country, let there be a ruler whom one respects not; but let him also have confidence in the people.
Both places of belonging to the world possess different names. How long it is remote from our mind the thought of those things which must have existed, and not seen,
As far from our mind the thought of those things which are present, as the present.
Thus the man of wise and stable mind will maintain that there is no use in observing the external world; he will preserve to the inward things that the public mind has knowledge, and will preserve to the inner things that which the public mind has knowledge.
Thus he will lead all things by virtue of his fixed principles, which he will have in nature.
The old man of statesmanship, when he will not let his empire pass away, will preserve to it the same policies which were in the ancient times.

When we fail to conquer something, we become the object of fear, so we become the instruments of fear, because we hold to non-action.When there is no fear, there is no winning, and that is the end of the Way.

Rulers have precious things, which their chiefs possess, and lead and rule not.

Mesmers of the Way do not need to balance people.
Musicians of the Way do not need to play with instruments of music.
Meshes of the Way do not need to care for expensive things.
Musicians of the Way have to have something that is so, so needed.
Musicians of the Way do not own it, so they have to give it to people.
Meshes of the Way do not have anything to own, so they have to give something to people.
Meshes of the Way have things that need to be cared for.
Meshes of the Way are very tolerant and kind.
They are very forgiving.
They are very loving.
They are very simple.
They are very open.
They are very discriminating.

Those who practice it have lessons and mandates.
Those who practice it do so for themselves.
Those who practice it have things to give to others.
Those who practice it have the desire to do so.

Says 'one who knows all things knows their reasons and effects';
Says 'one who knows them only' knows their limits.
From the beginning of creation,The sky overflowed with the sky;The rivers mysteriously drained beneath the valleys;The ten thousand things moving in infinity's harmony all came from the One.
From the very beginning,The sky was like the sky.From the very beginning,The rivers were like the rivers.The ten thousand things were like the ten thousand things.All being originated from the One.
From the very beginning,The way appeared as the way.
To the wise, the way appears as an outcast.
To the wise, the way appears as a leader.
To the wise, the way appears as unnecessary detail.
To the latter, the wise guides and guides;
To the latter, the leader depends on loyalty and support.

The one who knows all things knows their reasons and effects;
The one who knows only his own existence knows their limits.
From the origin of all things, heaven and earth have been continuous.
The Ten Thousand Things appear constantly as one;
The myriad things move continuously through unity.
All things originate as the One;
The One manifests as the ten thousand things;
All things are manifested as the One;
The ten thousand things are manifested as the One.
The One manifests as all beings;
All beings manifest as the One;
The One is the ultimate reality.
The ultimate reality is beyond perception;
As long as one is unperturbed, he will recognize its manifestations;
And as long as he remains unmoved, he will see its depths.
These two essentials cannot be denied:
They are found in Tao;
They are revealed in its Laws;
By making no distinction, the Sage rules with wisdom;
By relating to Tao as its essence, the sage becomes its reality.

of his own nature but not of all things
for he knows all things and has no need for creation
to do what he needs to do
I know that which has been before,

which I need not to know
(for then the need of knowledge would dissipate)
I know that which will precede, and all the matters that follow after it,

That which is not moving is not to be depended upon.
Not moving is not to be relied upon.
Thus, one who knows the Way doesn't hold on to surprises.
Knowing the way, one knows that this is not true.
When choosing an empty seat, it is not to be picked.
When choosing between angry and smiling, it is not to be praised.
To know the Tao, we need not treasure things.
To know the Tao is to be free from selfishness.
One who is free of selfishness doesn't try to gain anything.
To try to gain anything is to try to grasp the world.
Grasping the world is a bad thing, and so it is not Tao.

He who does not bend himself will not be bent; He who does not live in fear will not be abandoned. He who knows the Way will be without desire; He who knows the Dao will be without wanting. The Tao that does not change, Does not go astray; The Dao that does not change, Doesn't go astray.

One who does not change does not lose his self. One who does not live with fear is contented with his self. One who is not jealous has his self hidden from danger. One who has no desire has his self free from need. The whole path is directed by desire, not by renunciation. There are great Tao masters who do not focus on desire and renounce the world. They live in the whole with love and contentment.

One who has attained enlightenment will not hold onto the world for the sake of being content with his worldly possessions.

One should be content with what is not material, for the realm has become a source of our joys.

A leader must be wise, But no one will need to be taught, Therefore he is wise.The wise leader does not live the life of the moment, As if he were a baby.He lives the way of nature, and has nothing left undone. When you learn about what others have done, he will not try to correct you, For he can see that his purpose is not to correct others. He is now perfectly aware of what others need, And does not want to change anything that is in the world. He is able to see that things are not finished yet, And that the more things he does, the more he must do. A leader knows that he must act, But it is not for his benefit that he does so; And, when he does not think that he has done enough, He has not worked too much.The wise leader's goal is not saving men from harm. He sees that people are born with a need to be saved, And that he must stop here and now.The teacher will never leave him for too long.He will help to inspire him, In the knowledge that his purpose is not to save men, And that his purpose is for the world.

What is good for you Is not good for us;
Therefore we may act as you Would not mean to violate your integrity
Nor steal your virtue to gain the things you possess.
The great elder statesman did not live in a vacuum.
He observed the world around him;
He learned from others that not to violate integrity
And to refuse virtue to acquire things is always correct.
The lesser statesman has knowledge of the world and knowledge of differences
Yet he has no restriction on his essence,
So he also has knowledge of the world and doesn't spoil integrity.
The greater statesman knows the world and does not know to waste his essence
Because he sees that not to spoil integrity
Is the nature of the universe.
We know that now, he should act with caution and then nothing evil should occur.
If he had not knowledge to preserve for this purpose, he would be insane.
The greatest men try to act without action,
Because they know their duty.
Therefore they know that they have no action.
Because they know this, they have no intention to act.
Act without acting is without action; That is why they have all virtue.
Great men know the world and how things

Because he finds peace in the world
Lives in harmony with his Tao (Existence).
Those that live in a worldly way don't know this

The sage does not rely on others.
Knowing how to trust, one can live a simple life
with few possessions.
Love all things, and know that what you've done is for the greater good

That's why the world turns against its own self-interest.
By not confusing with demands, there will be no distinction between good and bad.
It's good to live in harmony with the Tao.

How is it? Yes, the people are taking their lives too seriously.How would I describe the people when they are acting critically? I call it self-indulgence.I tell you, the people, when they are taking self-indulgence seriously, I call it rashness.They act excessively when they are reckless.So,I say, they act viciously.Now what is rash and what is foolish?
The foolish is the result of overindulgence. The self-indulgence is the result of lacking insight.Myding together, with nothing to compete with, and having nothing to divide among, we will make a common work of anything we want.Is this not to follow the Tao?

The words of the Dao are lost in silence and obscurity.When people come to learn of it, they listen with silence.Where do the ancient words come from?The ancient words came from Tao. The Tao came from the silence, the wisdom and the simplicity of antiquity.Thus the Tao is not fathomable, yet it remains untouchable.It is true that the Tao is really no dark, but at the same time hardly known.Because it is unknown, it can never be regarded as dark.As Tao is without words, it is really silent and unrefined.Through silence, it has always existed and is a manifestation of all things, from the very beginning of time, until now.When people talk about Tao, they mean the Inner and the Outer.They use the Inner as a model for the Inner, but without referring to the Inner; the Inner is that which is eternal.The Inner is the mother of all things, but it is without being understood by anyone.All things have their name, and all names have their mother.As Tao is not defined, and contains all things within itself, it is the ultimate mystery.That is the Tao.
<|endoftext|>
The Tao is inconceivable.Words cannot describe it.It is eternal.What is eternal cannot be described.What is eternal cannot be named.From the very beginning of the universe there was nothing.Not being defined, it cannot be described.Uncontrived, it can never be described.This is what the Tao is like.
<|endoftext|>
That which is the original has been lost in the past.Things are multitudinous; the Tao is vague and indistinct, and does not sparkle. It has its beginning in silence and has existed through all eternity.The things of the world have names, and so the world names them: I have a name for what is below, below-wise, yes, Tao - yang. Yang means no shape, nothing to be shaped, it is not shape to be defined, it is not to be limited by, it is not to be weakened by, it is not to be abandoned by.Desireless desireless transformation, such is the Tao of the universe, the Tao of what goes on endlessly.

He who is the Sage, in the widest sense of the word, also implies the Way.The Way is made up of things that have no name and thus are called 'non-endowed'.From this it is that even the parts of the Way are therewith named: the body and senses, the head and hands, the beginning and end of all names, and so we can call them by the Collective Name.As for the parts that have names, they call them 'the nameless' and so we have 'Non-Endowed'.Therefore, even the nameless parts are as names.Therefore, even names have names; while the Named has no names.Therefore, the Named is the beginning of the Named and so is also the name of the Beginning of the Named.Therefore, we call such things 'the Collective name'; but we call the names 'the Named' The nameless in accordance with the Collective Name.These three things are of the same nature, and are not separate.That is why they are called: 'the nameless, the truly named'.

Existence comes into being by not existing. It is different from being and existed before heaven and earth. In the Discourse on Being the Tao is concerned about its relationship with existence. Therefore, in the Discourse on Being it is said: He who exists comes into being and exists in a manner different from his life and death. He comes into existence and exists in a manner different from his life and death. His life and death can be made to conform to his life and death, so that the mixture can be produced. He comes into existence and exists in accordance with his life and death. Therefore the action of "existence" is of itself a non-existence. It is also non-existing because he who is born exists. He who is born exists. It is only by distinguishing the two is that in this respect the two exist in the same relation. From this we may infer that his life and death must also be non-existent.

The profound Way (Ming) of heaven is something which can be observed (by one who recognizes its transcendental form). I have known that it is something which cannot be experienced (by anyone who recognizes this metaphysical form). Such an occurrence I call 'not-' but without it, I don't know where to stop.To know the 'thing' aspect of the Way (Ming) I must know that it is Tao.To know the 'thing' aspect of the Way (Ming) I must know that it is Dao.The two know each other but with different degrees of the self. Because of their different degrees of self they see the essence of the self as it is. The essence of the self is profound yet profound it has no limitations. To know that this is deep and has no limits is the Tao of the Way.To know that this is deep and has no limitations is the Dao of the Way.

The Way of Heaven is like the Tao (Tao) of the Cosmic Tao. Heaven has nothing to do, but not for an indefinite time.When Heaven has nothing to do, it always attends with nothing.This attendance of Heaven is called non-attendance;It is an absence from Heaven;This absence from Heaven is called regularity (t'ai).He who knows how this may be regarded as he observes it can call it the Tao (the Essence of the Tao),The person who has overcome the Natural Way and became a Ruler can call it the Way (the Whole);The person who has overcome the Natural Way and become a King can call it Dao (the Laws of Dao).
