Achievement is the expression of the innate powers. That which has power is those which are akin to spirits. The beings with power to understand resemble that which has no form. The spirits which have not form can only be compared to them.In the world of natural beings there are those that have found the mode of origin, and there are those that have found the way.The leaders are those that have found the way.People who are followers of Tao know the way.Without the Tao they are ignorant. That which is able to penetrate and become a hole for others cannot be sought, but that which may be made use of as a method must be scrutinized and followed closely.
<|endoftext|>
Achievement is meant to show the beings of the universe are like.It is a way to relate with beings who are nameless, that is to say, as if being the primal form. The beings with no name could have been only human,as they say, if you look at nature, you can see the cosmos will create a whole human being. The creatures that could not find their essence-and I mean their natural responses-could have been only the natural world,it is only natural responses that could be called natural. And the creatures which I call below-low could have been only small things,as if they could have been only a mere thing. And what people regard as the standard of value in nature-everything that is in truth uneven and uneven, could have been only that.Looked at like this, you cannot believe it,for if you believe it in that you cannot believe it in anything else.So this is one way to describe it.The people of the world look to the star in the sky as the standard for trustworthiness. As a baby settles into the embrace of motherhood, the utensils of trustworthiness need not be seen.We should notice these utensils not only as instruments for taking care of this baby, but also as implements for taking care of everything. When all is on a level with the baseless, then the utensils of trustworthiness are really instruments for strengthening the baseless.
<|endoftext|>
Achievement is the expression of the eternal essence; The unknowable is the origin of things.Things without form are the beginning of the universe.Fathomless, eternal, nothingness!Fathomless, eternal, nothingness!Things without form are manifestations

Tao does not delight in glory or praise.Only those who have attained enlightenment can see its beauties.People look to it for guidance and guidance is not always pleasant.Still, termed the great Way,It has no flavour.Nor does it have any limit. That is why people of old used to call it the uncarved block. When people encounter it they say: "This is no tree or rock, this is different from any other. How sad!I should like to climb up the tower on its side, and roll up the six doors of this Great Tao to its foundation, and talk to the whole world!"To avoid ritualism, to promote unity and transparency, the people of old accepted Tao as their teacher.Tao cannot be enjoyed with delight.
<|endoftext|>
To be impartial is to have an impartiality.Non-existent, behold the image of nothing, but there can be nothing in it.Loss is its image, inasmuch as it has no image. It may be termed the great deep.Where there is nothing there is the sound of the gate; and where there is sound there is the doors of the deep. The people of old had thus found the great deep indifferent; So, in the Olden age, we have here described it as a cave, or as a house of mud and rock. How lamentable! We ought to climb up its summit and make of it as many doors as its dwelling!Savour the tasteless: taste is the limit.Heav'n, and blend with it.Call it the mode of the Earth, and it would be without limit.

To say that a thing is in reality something that is in reality nothing - is it not so? - and there is nothing in it, and the reason for that? It is called the Great Abyss. The Great Abyss has no boundaries, no walls, no doors. It is the origin of the World.Therefore, the TAO-WEAN should have an understanding of the Great Abyss.So the great men who live among men shall of old be called men of the world: they say that they have an understanding of the Great Abyss, but are not bright as that, being bright as that. What a sad thing it is! I ought to be made drunk by the sound of the door of the Great Abyss, and sought after by the people of the world;

The sage does not cause his words to move the heart of the people. It is better to let the Tao speak for itself. When Tao talks, it sounds like nonsense. When music and flavor get it, it sounds like sorrow. When food and food of praise comes, it sounds like fiddling with the rolls. When a man gives orders and rules, it sounds like disorder and cowardice. When we cling to a belief that brings much trouble, it sounds like a good thing. To the world:Give Tao a good name, and the people will gather. If the Tao talk is on, what better than music and a delicious feast? When songs are at play, take your rest and stop.If Tao talk is off, do not turn away from it, and it will be much easier to understand. When Tao talk is on, look for no truth in it.When Tao talk is off, look for no good in it.

The people say, "O to the bright (Te); we are too bright! Look away!"
When the chariot (Miao) sings, what is the (conscious) music?
When bordered dishes are bidden, what is the (conscious) dish?
Where fruit is had, what is its (chic) flavour?
Now a good reputation brings the people to return to (the Way),
Where is it wanted?
Therefore, the wise give the name Tao to them,
And speak of it as Tao,
And seek for nothing to name it.
It has no flavor or smell;
No expectations, no boundaries, no end.
<|endoftext|>
The sage never talks of what is good; as he himself is seen by all things good, and the people go along with him, therefore he has no temptation.
The chariot, like any other vehicle, returns to it owner. At rest, the sound of the clatter cannot exhaust it.
Prices are easy to swallow. Why shouldn't they be pleasing, even to the people who have learnt to dislike the useless?
(It is) this: so simple, so simple! What unhelpful lies do we see!
The people attend, and praise the road, and the food, and the music, and even, when they say good-bye, you see nothing refuse the doors, nothing bad to show them.
Though this is not so

The follower of the Way
Is to rely on ease
The people will naturally adhere to you
The things (both human and non-human) will be centered
The leader, without words, to us, seems ordinary

These are the ways of the Nameless Way;
"to abstain from speaking, to be at ease,
to refrain from business, to be tranquil, to be receptive,
to receive all the stranger,
to be free from all disturbances,
to consider as sacred the music of the windless year,
to overlook what is invisible,

He who is feared by all men will be his own unoccupied self.

Dao does not make formal speeches:
Everyone follows.
You have got to walk all the way to avoid them.
Everyone follows.
Then it's natural that you follow.
"To be always tranquil" sounds ordinary,
to be as safe as a guest,
be receptive,
to be free of disorder,
to be one with Tao,
all these things sound ordinary,
make you forget yourself,
go nowhere,
and always return.
<|endoftext|>
Tao does not make grand statements.
When sincerity is adhered to, words can sometimes appear bland and simple.
Tao in general does not deal with world politics, by example, by banality.
Tao deals with the unity of being, and the way it is always, always, in the background.
Tao does not make claims and not for that matter, is not concerned about petty ways.
Do not dwell in the illusion of it, because it is invisible, And forget the thing that makes you separate.
Follow the way without pretending to be the other.
<|endoftext|>
The people who have Tao know that it is not an instruction, that it comes from the Tao, that it is unpretentious.

When the empire is established in the left hand, nothing will be enough. When the empire is established in the right hand, all people will be happy, since at the time of revolution every government must show its power. Without Tao, and without happiness, these two people could not succeed.
Since the Empire does not display its power, it cannot achieve prosperity and glory.
Therefore, TAO is prominent.

Let the king unite all under heaven. He will govern without accusation; but without expectations. Let him be calm and silent, the outward demeanor is not auspicious. Let him act without calculating. Let him be free from sorrow; he is never long in this world. Thus the people of the world will follow the king. Speech and music will be at his back, and he will be occupied with precious foods. He will learn to travel, and he will go nowhere. He will act as an infant without rules. He will never obtain enough land; he is retiring to the left. He is retiring to the right. Thus, even he is retiring to the depths of time.

In times of peace, the virtuous leader rules in silence.
We meet from a distance but never with hostility.
Everybody wants to be happy and successful.
What can be accomplished by dominating and ordering the world?
We follow the Tao, but not the Tao of the world.

Lead others by following their inner nature, not their outward form.
Arise and be still, and be still without ulterior motive.
Attain and be fulfilled, so that nothing should prevent you from being noble and true.
Blown out by desires, become still.
Stay still and allow all men to come to you.
Hear and taste, do not waste words.
Speak, do not boast.
Be still and forget what is ahead.
Be still and be defeated in every turn.

The profounder the understanding, the further the knowledge, the more of a mystery the people become. The greater the mystery the more people will be disturbed. While the brighter the light, the more foolish are those who see with it.Thus, the sage, while he teaches simplicity and loyalty, believes his doctrine hidden and original. While he teaches gentleness and sincerity, he maintains an eye for sincerity. While he teaches that the good is natural, he teaches it only in a condition of evil.Though he speaks of the invisible and inaudible, yet he makes sure that no one under Heaven hears his words.Being a type of mystery,He is able to guide all under Heaven.

Heaven's Great Depth
Heaven is always in great peril.
The people give themselves over to the view of great ambitions,
Higher ambitions become aspirations.
The people thus desire great uprightness.
Heaven, like a boat which takes an unspoiled course,
follows the uncarved block of wood.
It does not stay motionless and thereupon it soon reaches its destination.
Knowing how to style, though free of designation,
one may say that Heavenly Truth speaks only in the loftiest terms.
Heaven's depth, though little known,
It can be likened to a valley in a deep brook.
It cannot be heard, but can be felt.
Can it be grasped, though that be undefined,
it can be established to be real?
The sublime form of Heaven
Be it flavorless or flavorful,
While mime, mystic, or formless,
Upon a solid, stable site,
You can stay still as in a streambed,
And experience an ever changing space.
Knowing the source of Heaven's creation
You can join in the endless relations with its endless workings.
<|endoftext|>
Even the great wonders are small;
Stillness and quiet make them so.
The Sage seems to have no life at all,
Grasping at the block.
Heaven seems so empty;
The valley's depth
Is what makes it seem so full.
Sage, not to speak,
Since what he has left behind
Is the words to infinite wonder.
When the Sage travels, it is still as a river
In the calm stream,
Through which the guest-spot always returns.

If you look for it, it is not there.
If you talk about it, it is not there.
If you show it, it is not real.
These are like saying "something is wrong with it"
If you follow Tao you will be like that.
Whoever does this will be flawed.
This is called "the path of chaos"
The people have many names;
I call them "The Great Inchoate Sacrifice."
Those who follow this way:
Become the prisoner of chaos.
"Peace is not to be had"
"Help is not to be sought"
"Benevolence is not to be shown"
"Love is not to be advanced"
"Peace is not to be maintained"
"Regard one's actions as if it were a misfortune."
It is a misfortune that cannot be helped
It is a misfortune that cannot be treated as though it were right
Whoever follows this path will fail.
That is the doctrine of Tao.
So go and enjoy this.

To know the Greatness:
Learn from what has been.
To deal with common affairs:
Achieve success in people's minds:
Feed the people with food and music:
Amaze people with good faith:
Discourage evil without official decrees:
Display natural beauty without heavy embellishments.
To give credit to this:
Not to name names,
Those of the Unreturning Way.
And the people of the world will flock to them.
To know how to accept things:
To be in accord with people:
Stay above trouble.
To live by the Way:
To return in peace and security.

If you seek the great, you will not find it.
If you describe what is great, you will not see it.
If you show what is great, you will not receive it.
These things are similar to saying it is not great,
and if you accept this, you will be free from being influenced by natural rules of life.
It is in this way that the common folk behave like infants.
While the people of the world know more about the rules of life
than the common folk, the people of the world look at these things as if they were ordinary.
They live without any special names and feel no censure.

The beautiful things are carved out by having the one.The things that others value are produced by having the other. The sage has no desires, but is content, and therefore he has contentment. So there is no desire;or an attitude;or timidity.Attachment is the difference between the treasure and the worthless, what has no worth is the treasure that does have worth;so he who has the treasure has what he desires, but this thing is attached to the formless, which is nothing but the desire within him.To know the subtle form is not to be confused by what is seen or heard. To understand the deep substance is to not be confused by what is known. With the change of substance it is only that the form is changed. It is only that the knowledge of the inner nature changes. To know the hidden and to comprehend the depth does not depend on knowledge,it is only by undergoing change and continual growth. The shape changes, and so the name, but the inner reality stays the same. This is the essence of change, and therefore the highest development.

what everyone values.
Everything else changes around it.
If you're paying attention,
you'll see how fleeting it is.
Now,

Watch to see the end.
Listen and you'll know the truth.
Let's embrace the nature of bliss and stop trying to make it!
It's the flower of perfection,
the ultimate home for life.
The way to a new beginning is through the wisdom.
The way to clarity is through meditation.
Let's be the changelings of the world,
not what people see,
and let's stop trying to be people.

Ever and ever enduring.

It is just like unceasing life; It is without incidence and without change.
When it has been continuously and continuously.
It is a flower of genuine Tao.
Nature cannot be preserved by desiring what is beautiful or desirable. Nature cannot be preserved by having what is desirable. Therefore, by not desiring the beautiful, one can endure as a flower for long. By being desirous of what is desirable, one can endure long as a flower for long. And

What is the mysterious essence?
Do you dare to make it your goal?
Is it not very useless to wish you had it?
Should you wish for it, you will
by its occurrence be destroyed.
How could it be useful
if you did not hold to it?
To wish that you have it is
as wishing to be born anew
in the Valley of Woes.
How could the Tao be useful if it is
so hard to grasp?
If you wish, to seize it,
you will lose it.
If you want to hold to it,
you will be disunited.
Neither can you seek gain from loss.
Learn by experience.
All ideas have names.
Only by accepting the One Way do

The Tao appears as the
dealing - in one word, what is it? - a nameless power
dull and inaccessible.
Now, how can it be used?
If it were real, it would be useless.
Indeed, then what is it to do things
when they are hard to grasp?
If we take hold of it, we are unable to return.
Sincere action alone could not save
these creatures in the Valley of Woe.
Therefore the great sage explained:
"Those who take hold of this thing have no need
to desire to do so."
He who wishes to hold to it has no desire to lose it.
Only acting in response to a need can
already be done and the necessity is fulfilled.
A man is therefore apt to stray from the path he came
to take. And that is what the great sage (in referring to all)
understood:
'The truly wise reach their goal
through what they have not grasped.'
To achieve success, and to fail,
manifest themselves as events,
and not as separate things.

The great teaching of the universe (the Tao) is not to teach.
Therefore, anyone who follows the Tao will fail.
For, there is nothing that can be taught.
The Tao is a mystery; and this does not make the mystery easy to understand.
If you attempt to understand it, you will only lose sight of its simplicity.
One who knows the Tao, knows what is natural.
He who does not understand the Tao, will have a mind which is chaotic and confused.
The mind of the chaotic and confused is ominous.
Its direction is ominous.
(If) you seek for the centre of the sky and the earth and your mind wander, you will not find it.
The Tao is always and everywhere.
You do not see it, you do not need to see it.
Know it but not to focus your awareness on it.
Do not try to control or style it.
When you have finished living in the ordinary your mind will grow old.
In the end, your mind will be indifferent to you.

To know it is not to be aware;
Know it and you will not be aware.
Not to be aware of it, what I am aware of is of no further use to me.

And men become as in the wake of the Earth, indifferent to the body.

Let those who play at the hall music realize harmony; let those who enjoy good food notice its purposefulness. Let those who watch the beautiful scenery wish their passers-by might not stray. Allow both to enjoy being fulfilled, and peace of mind. Everything is an extension of the center. By harmonizing each other's forces, one can create a harmonious mind. Just as grass grows and fruits ripen, so only the mind nurtures itself. And just as beauty makes a passer-by stop, so, according to the Tao, its ultimate goal.

Perfection in Heaven cannot be met by the collective action of the ten-thousand things. In pursuit of it, myriad lights and sounds and movement come to my ears. However fleeting and abortive, it may be of deep import. When one regards it with rapt attention, it is not prepossessing; When one regards it with long-suffering, it is not upsetting; When one regards it with repugnance, it is not strange. As in silence and perplexity rise words and actions, so there is rest for those who love life, and tranquility and security for those who have acquired great power. Music and jollity will induce passing guests to stop; But the Tao may enlighten their eyes,If we listen closely for its words. How should I put the latter into words? The Tao manifests itself as something remote and indefinable. When a mind first embraces it, it is not abstract. When one's mind abides by it, it is not full.
<|endoftext|>
the great principle cannot be employed by the means of beings under Heaven.Such actions having been performed,
phenomena (images) of light and sound and movement come to my ears. How fleeting and quiescent, this (phenomena) when observed must be of deep interest,How permanent and immortal, this (image) when observed must be of deep interest,How much profound, this (movement) when observed must be of ordinary quiet.
<|endoftext|>
Difficulties in Heaven cannot be ignored. All the myriad creatures have got to do their work for the king and on their days of work they see only the light and sounds. If you look closely at it, it will not be very beautiful, if you look hard at it, it will not be very hard.In matters of life and death it is not hard.A general will call the day of reckoning, the moment of deuce, the moment of conquest.Music and food will help the guest come and go.The Tao is unrefined. Its use is without thought.
<|endoftext|>
the great master cannot be displayed to the world.Matter is running through Heaven, and to hear it is of great importance.Trying to listen for it is of rare interest. How deep and remote it is from the senses, how stark its appearance! This does not make any one go away from it

Everyone can be in harmony with the Tao.
Everyone can see the true nature of Tao.
Everyone can be at peace with himself.
Everyone is at peace with everything in the world.
Other people sometimes do foolish things;
But everyone benefits by stilling them.
Most people are not terribly intelligent.
Some people are really intelligent.
All other people seem to be endlessly doing stuff.
I only see for myself where I am.
What I see will last for ever.
<|endoftext|>
Abandon the world, all beings will feel true in themselves.
Love the myriad beings, and you will rest in their return.
Hear the beautiful song of the Tao, and you will find the realization of you heart.
See the myriad beings as they shine, and you will know how you ought to act.
Those without wisdom, or personal affection, seek to harm other people; but, through their craftiness, they exact their own revenge.
All men turn out like tinder; then all rust.
<|endoftext|>
The wise leader

cannot govern the people

without the people's trust.
Other wise leaders
can use [their teaching to]
make it easy for people.
I only like to take them
and show them.
Other wise leaders
are less clever
and seem to be
more skillful.
(See if you can see
the door).
Others seem to do their work
and blow themselves away.
I can see the door.
The doors of many people
cannot be closed,
and any fireproof [door]
can never be
shut.
<|endoftext|>
Get rid of the principle, and all things will come to their natural usefulness.
Love the earth and you will be at peace with it.
Watch for the beautiful things, and there will be harmony with them.
Listen to the myriad sounds, and you will have peace and quiet.
Just look for the way out.
So long as there is not much creativity, people are unselfish.
Just look at the "lookout" and he who will not go his own way will not see a door.
Look for the door but you will not find it.
Those who come to an end must have a beginning.

Know this: until all men begin to dare come, Then comes the start of teaching them to fearlessness. Through the Valley upon the chariot? Not the valley.Through the Profound Origin? No origin.Through Tao? Nothing to be found. All men get on earth, And there they may see nothing. All men under heaven? Not men under heaven, and there they may see things. But that Tao (teach) comes (is) through the valley, And that Tao is Tao, That Tao is the valley. When we study it, we see it is not Tao.All things get on earth, And there they may see things. All men under heaven? Not men under heaven, and there they may see things.Teh doesn't come from the people. Not to study it, (the student) finds it no use. Now, as the wind blows, so shall it become soft. Yea, it is vulgar when looked at. Yea, it is vulgar when listened to. And when it is used, it is inexhaustible.

He who considers (feasts) on sacred food like the king goes astray (possess) the evil (of the bad or occult),
He who contemplates such food as an ox or ox-cart drags (disastrously) will only make it (his food).
He who contemplates sacrificial food like a sacrificial vessel keeps his eye on it (only to see that it is pure) And has no trouble while he is staying in his house.
The Sage is like a valley (divinely) and the way (is complete); The world has its way; the way is the world.
Te is the way (of divinity), the way (is) a way (of nature), the way (is) the way (of nature), the way is the way of nature.
When you are wise, do not be swayed. You will be in a state of clear vision. You will look like the clouds before the sun. You will see all things as they are and nothing to obstruct them. By your actions, you will be without regret.

He who esteems the things of the world like the divine will not abide in the fullness thereof.
He who esteems the things of the world as tiled (unintended) will not abide therein.

Lao Tze says,Not withstanding means to contend;Opposites beg.If one is not withstandingHe becomes the boor.He who is not withstandingThen does the people get along with one another,They can be comforted, they can learn to smile,They can be clever and good at living,They can enjoy good food and drink,But they will not be in want of anything. So great the voice of TaoIs the sound of disappointment in the mouths of those who seek its support. When people hear the voice of TaoThey say, How much less! Therefore the sage speaks great wordsAnd the Tao looks as insipid and dishware.Speak and you get a response, and then nothing is heard. When the Great Image is shown in the mouthIt looks old,I say.But the great Tao looks and sounds as new.

If you are praised, you will be competent.
If you are competent,

If you are pure,

How can you think that

If you become knowledgeable and clever, then people will have no need of you.
If you are contented, then people will benefit from your good fortune.
If you are kind and generous, then people will know of your goodness.
And if you become calm, then you will become peaceful.
How much could the use of words reduce

Do not worry yourself with the Tao;Might the world follow in its wake.He who keeps the Tao will enjoy the self-mastery.Having attained self-mastery, he will come to the understanding that "without self there is no self-mastery."It is not that he is master of his own mind;It is that he is master of the whole mind. When he becomes aware of the self, his awareness is without a boundary; When he sees himself, his awareness is centered on the self; When he acts, his consciousness is the self; And when he dares, the self is his basis.

Attain the Great Tao (the Tao of the Universe), and
everything in the world will benefit.
From now on, therefore, all beings will practice [one] way,
and are achieved by the path of tranquillity.
The Inner Person will have no sense of individuality,
nor have he any desire for distinction.
Even the ears hear a voice as good as fine music,
Yet the Wise Person still persists in the Inner Person: he acts.
When he sees himself to be outstanding, his Self is outstanding.
When he thinks himself inferior, he himself is inferior.
When he sees himself destroyed, he himself is destroyed.
Even so, even though he succeeds in his thoughts,
his Consciousness continues;
even though he acts, his Self continues.
When the ruler of a country has a great Tao (the subtle, spiritual, divine),
all the people in the world, being able to observe all his vital ways,
embrace them.
Everyone recognizes the Tao as the real thing.
When the Inner Person maintains that Inner Person (the Way is always present), then all things will become simple (unceasingly do).
<|endoftext|>
Hold fast to the great (Tao)
and everything in the world will benefit.
Everyone will follow (the Tao).
He who follows
becomes a Taoist (there will be nothing to fear).
He who follows (the Tao) comes to understanding (the Tao).
He who understands comes to fullness (fullness, the realization that all things are alive and are inexhaustible, they possess no desire, which is part of life).
But when all things are included in (the Tao), they are powerless (without true wisdom)

Long ago,
Mother nature made earth gentle,
Leaden and straight as a tiptoe.
Peace and quiet with food and music.
Abandoned sounds and smells of food and music.

that ground can also be turned to earth.
Peace and quiet depend on it.
Music and cooking depend on it.

Rendering, indeed, is one of the essential and just acts that all men of good will.
It is not because we like to look at them, that we alone are able to overlook them.
For, having observed, one notices nothing. Having looked, one sees. Having listened, one hears.
Hearing, one feels nothing.
Having cognized the action of the great one, one, too, has no more cares for it.
<|endoftext|>
Being perfect, do all things conform.
Being just, do all things abide.
Being peaceful, do all things rest.
Assembling to enjoy music, do the people all find quiet enjoyment.
Listening to music, do the people all find all these sounds wonderful.
When a person looks for nourishment, to feel satisfaction in this affair,
he must realise that nothing will be a trouble for him.
<|endoftext|>
What is important is that it conforms to the Tao, and the doing of the Tao's actions is a prelude to everything else.
What's important is what's not that important.
It's because of what's not that important that we're able to distinguish so much.
The Tao is above everything else and must be considered as such.

The pursuit of Tao (Tao) by the wise is better than Tao attained by all.The pursuit of the Tao by all is better than the pursuit of Tao by the foolish. When Tao is pursued by the wise, It is good. When Tao is pursued by the foolish, It is good.A myriad things are satisfied by the Tao,But are not so satisfied by the Tao by the foolish. When the Tao is looked at, It is not the true Tao, But the foolish. When the Tao is talked about, It is not the true Tao, But the wise.

He who knows how to live harmoniously with Tao in harmony with all, can long endure in all.He who knows how to live harmoniously with Tao in discord with all, can suffer much harm to his soul.He who accepts this fate must become in harmony with the Tao in his spirit and being,Following the Tao in action. But he who is not in harmony with Tao in spirit and being will become utterly beyond Tao in his mind and in his body. When Tao has become the chief thing in the world,Tao will receive it as no more than a rarity.

All under heaven sees it as we see the Id.
The Way is only real to the truly wise; All beneath heaven sees it as we see the Stiff.
Taste the Way; it is bland and flavorless.
Listen to the Way; it is dull and flavorless.
Vacuous talk and coarse taste of foods stop the traveler on the road.
Cultures so flavorless cannot be identified by analysis.

Between the gate of Tao and the gate of Infinity is a distance of 10000 li, or 30 000 nautical miles,
It is the realm of Yin (spirits) and Yang (anthropomorphic creatures)
Weary and formless
It seems to float on the sea and the atmosphere
Yet when the Tao is spoken of, it has no flavor or flavor.
When it is looked at, it has no distinguishing features
When it is listened for, it has no overt presence
When it is taken, it has no use.
Inferior flavors and flavorless food
So value the Tao; it is not flavorless
<|endoftext|>
The vastest Distance is not the Infinite. The cart has stopped in that Small Depth The tao is 'still' in that Hollow Square Tao - alone: And its not - is 'void.' - but does its 'void' Fathom nothing else? Tao is one as if it were invisible, just like itself Still always making its 'void' embrace.
<|endoftext|>
The Great Distance cannot be the Way.The Tao that can be grasped cannot be the true Way.The empty space of emptiness fills with nothing. So the Hollow squares and hollow doors give rise to a space there, too.The sofas, doors and hallways give rise to a space.
<|endoftext|>
Great distance is not the world. Therefore, the four-course banquet is not the Way.The empty room in the empty space is the way.
For by the Way we realize only the Self.Empty room in empty space: the Way.
How can I compare? The Tao I follow is not the Tao that can be lived out. What there is is not heaven. The Tao that can be lived out: is not Heaven.

The great distance is not the Great Way. The Tao that can be followed cannot be the great Tao. The room that can be used is not the space that can be used. A lot of food and baggage will not satisfy one.
Give something to the one who needs it and be taken back home to the Tao.
Humble people can be trusted with Tao, and quiet ones can govern.
In carrying out the Ten Thousand Things the owner needs only the hollowness of Tao to set him right.
From the wise Way to the humble Way,
a traveler may return safely.
<|endoftext|>
Precisely because of the relation of the tao to the universe,
Cultivators always seek to embody it.
By doing so, they are naturally settled.
By refusing to adhere,
thus, Heaven may be acted upon;
by refusing to be placid,
thus, the Earth may be formed.
By not asserting or seizing power,
thus, the universe may be produced.
When water is given and combined,
it is to be used as a vessel to hold the tao.
If a gift of tao is not bestowed upon a ruler,
The earth may be further taken over.
If lords and dukes can guide and direct the people,
the universe will continue.
On the road to return home,
a person should avoid taking in too much.
Rather than taking what he needs, he should look for the means to fulfill himself.
In this way, people can return to the Tao.
In the grand conceptual unity of the Tao,
a person can understand and act on the multitude of things.
Thus, the home is just the container that nurtures the Tao.
When a person serves the way of the universe,
the Way of the universe flows naturally.
<|endoftext|>
This is the way of the Tao (the Tao being 'O.T.'),That which in a state of perfect nirvana A firm upper heaven must always hold; That which in a state of perpetual motion Substance must always do the work,It must always be able to keep itself in balance, and not go astray. Therefore,If heaven and earth That is to live in relation to the Tao by the way were not made by ourselves,The rest of the world would follow.Wherever they move, the water of tao fills the vessels which it provides,And where they turn, it nourishes things which it provides. If they are not to use the vessels, That which provides will not be used.

As for those who eat, it's like killing them,
They drink to excess, and then they're dead.
<|endoftext|>
Those who follow the Tao go forth without harm
To be the king of the valley
To be the giver of a bounty to the peoples
To be a field for the grass,
In the end they will see their children
If they do not thrive, they will surely die
Thus when Wu is once accepted
After acceptance it becomes mild and without flavor
When looked at it cannot be entirely seen
When it is listened to it cannot be entirely heard
After being taken and eaten
It will break into pieces
While feeding one for the use of its sharpness
Even the tasteless food can cause someone to die

Where there is Tao
One's nourishment will be few, sparing food will cause others to starve.
<|endoftext|>
When the superior Tao is followed, no harm is done.
When peaceful harmony is attained,
everyone is benefited.
When the harvest is great, the ox's is renewed.
Those who are not so good will die young.
The wise man accepts the light,
follows the Tao,
but enjoys the Dao.
It is even tasteless.
He watches and takes notice,
he smiles.
He appreciates,
but does not take anything.
He eats lightly,
he is hearty.
People give everything to the Dao
They make money for the Dao
They eat lightly.
Horse racing and walking can cause undue danger.
When people prepare foods with flavor,
It is tasteless.
Diet is more important than flavor.
(The affairs of one may be expensive to the affairs of many).
Whenever there is a taste of a good thing,
A taste of a bad thing
Such as a sweet or a bitter, is to the taste of the Tao.
<|endoftext|>
Those who follow the Way will not be harmed,
The king will be a loving parent to the people.
As heaven regenerates the ox,
The way is lightened, thus the people love him.
Those who are contrary will only have a rough life.
The superior Way is not so good.
It is not tasteless.
When you observe it, it is not so obvious.
When you look at it, it is not so obvious.
======================================== SAMPLE 7 ========================================
When the Dao is used, one should restrain oneself from using it.
Because the Dao is not used, one is not required to possess it.
<|endoftext|>
Yielding, the world will not revolt;
How could it harm them?
How could it be so big that it cannot be seen?
How could it be so tiny that it cannot be felt?
To rule all creatures, eat in moderation:
But [with "Dao's" rule] do not tempt,
And be comfortable, and the world will follow you.
It is not to be feared, nor wept;
To enjoy it does not mean to hoard it.
<|endoftext|>
His moves, even in the world
Will not open him, though he holds
The Oneness.
He'll surely be a 'big world-child.'
He'll follow that subtle Way,
He'll love the whole world
But not hurt them.
As long as he rules over Tao,
He won't need show for comfort,
Or taste sweet food.
In music, don't clap and light.
When you step back you'll hold on to it:
Only by it can you guard it.
<|endoftext|>
What we like
Is what we loathe.
All food seems to become too hot
And taste too bitter.
Music seems to offend the ears
And desensitize the mind.
Mining tools seem to plague the hands
When the world is guarded and subdued
By mastery,
All things move like the wind
And breathe the same breeze.
What can we really desire
While the world is around?
All we want is to smile and say
"It's a beautiful day!"
Wear a necklace or a necklace-yielding.
When you need a ride
Don't smile or enjoy it.
So be content to watch.
When you want to do something,
Do it without flaunting.
<|endoftext|>
He that likes, looses, all that he would, that he can.
What is there which he cannot?
Music is a distress for the ears,
sensations like a stony spot, and a flavour of the minute.
Who wants to dominate? Let the people do
what they like.
Like people, they will not turn a withe;

======================================== SAMPLE 8 ========================================
The wise leader considers this the most important job of his time.
When an army is given direction by it, it moves like a wave of the sea.
Who would not swim with the waves of the sea?
Now let the world lead by what Dao has to offer.
Allow the world to lead without interfering, without poking at it.
Let it lead without tension, without contention,
before you can recognize the end of what is a beginning.
Who is beyond Tao? He who persists in duality.
Lao Tze says:
"With Tao do not quarrel,If weapons are used against the people,Those weapons cannot harm them."
"Within Tao there is no killing,There is killing, but there is no killing."
"Within Tao there is no delight,There is delight, but there is no joy."
"Within Tao there is no stealing,There is no theft,But there is no stealing."
"Within Tao nothing can be taken,And nothing can be taken,If a person chooses to."
Therefore it is the Great Tao that furnishes the instruments for all conduct and accomplishment of life.
Whoever follows Tao in being is truly independent,
and should live in peace and harmony.
The great men are not influenced by the worldly affairs of man.
Thus they can be respected by all.
<|endoftext|>
Following the Tao leads to peace, peace leads to well-being, well-being leads to tranquility, tranquility leads to the wisdom of life.
When in pursuit of Tao, the best hunting is of a savage nature, In their pursuit of Dao, it is restrained to the perfect nature, The perfection of Dao is long lasting, well it is because they aim only at Dao, Yet even their use of Dao leads to no harm. Therefore Dao in it is not desiring, It is not desiring, Although it is wanting only the capability to enjoy it. The wise leader does not involve himself with life affairs of politicians. He does not depend upon them for his guidance, because he regards them as instruments of nothingness, and he accepts their light, and he regards them as a good food. All things are adapted to follow their nature, but the wise man abides in being of the uncarved fruit of nature, He abides in being the flower of nature, because Nature does not allow itself to be impaired, It does not impede its growth, and it does

One who has the Tao does not regard flavor as belonging to the Dao,

Does not regard rarities as belonging to the good,
Does not regard killing a thing as belonging to the Dao.
And in so doing, he goes beyond vain deeds.

A cup is created when a pitcher is made from leftover straw.
A smoothies made when a bowl is made from leftover chips.
Food that cannot be smiled on is undesirable.
An opinion that cannot be defended is despised.
Because the Tao is something that cannot be grasped, it can only be experienced as pleasant.
Because the Tao is something that cannot be looked at, it can only be experienced as luminous.
Because the Tao is something that cannot be felt, it can only be experienced as powerful.
Because one has the Tao, everyone is free of all desires.

The repugnant taste of all:

Therefore, those who have achieved the Way of Dao become invincible, self-sufficient and unchanging. Their limitless power does not change and can deal with everything in the world with no ill consequence.
The Way of Dao is supreme to the universe. In the universe there is no place that cannot be subdued. If no restraint is placed on them, they can live in the limitless space.
When the Way of Dao is experienced, it is a mild tasting sweet dew.
When you view it, it cannot be clearly seen.
When you listen to it, it cannot be clearly heard.
When you take it, it cannot be consumed.
The greatest Tao is at hand.

Those who know the way
Have the power to preserve,
and never lose the potential.
The potential that is preserved
Is not subject to change, and can be used.
The Way of the Universe is everlasting.
The all-pervading universe is always preserved.
The person who chooses the Way of the universe is constant and blissful.
By its constant virtue, the person can endure.
When the person chooses to look through this Being, it cannot be seen.
When the person chooses to listen through this Being, it cannot be heard.
When the person chooses to look through this Being, it cannot be taken.
When the person chooses to look through this Being, it cannot be used.
In the Tao-vessel a small vessel is molded;
However, a straw can't be transformed into wine.
When the Tao-vessel is fulfilled,
Moldings are finished;
Then the vessel can be used.
When the Tao-vessel is fulfilled,
Even small words can be talked about.
When the Tao-vessel is fulfilled,
Music can't be heard.
When the Tao-vessel is fulfilled,
As soon as a person takes the lead,
Things tend to begin to break down.
So this description may seem out of place,
But it's the essence of Tao.

The Tao is eternal. Therefore,

Tao travels through space and can accomplish everything. It could go in all directions. That is because it exists with no desires and it does not require its way to exist.Just because it can do so, it cannot do without.Whatever goes through the gate of Tao does not harm anyone. What happens to it leaves no trace. It never turns back.Through it, existence is found.Through it, non-existence is found. It can leave nothing undone.

Tao, as it passes, may hold itself; the house that it occupies is like to be honoured; the myriad creatures that it brings to life is like to have benefit; the speakers of words that it utters has no being of its own; just because there is no such thing as action in it, it is efficacious and sustaining. When the sage manages Tao, all things go and cannot be harmed; [to] the end of their coming, they can enter and leave no harm. Therefore, when he speaks Tao is not clear. When the superior powers succeed in bringing about the ancient Laws of the Universe, Heaven and Earth possess the Primal Laws, although they may be inadequate and subject to disorder. The Tao Power of the greatest man is, for the space of a few days, the best to care for the country, nor are foreign matters feared. His care for people can be accomplished without great effort; and, if he is able to keep to the fundamental principles of the Tao, he will be as tranquil as a host.A host is simple enough to be guarded by a master, and the guests would not think of disturbances for a long time.

The superior talents are not inferior in effecting their laws of Nature upon the Earth; Heaven and Earth have no difficulty in subordinating them, and even in this they do not tend to reduce themselves to a less existence. So end of the thirty spokes: Small as they are, they are the base for the universe. The universe moves without danger of being overtaken, yet the realm cannot be destroyed. Therefore the voice of the Wise Person puts forth those things that would achieve the state of the beautiful, bringing harmony to the people. Harmony is achieved when the circle is seen, and harmony is achieved when contrast is seen. But harmony cannot be achieved without contrast. Therefore, the state of being beautiful, the appearance of being beautiful, and the appearance of being beautiful are the outcome of contrast. Thus, contrast is that which does not resemble nor can be perceived.
<|endoftext|>
Thirty spokes make up the wheel of life; why should we respect the beautiful? Therefore, the adept cultivates in this Way the Tao. To cultivate it, he nourishes the wise:He nourishes the wise with Truth:He nourishes harmony:This harmonizes harmony and extremism,is marvelous. Therefore, upon being illuminated, he has no desire:When "peace" is spoken of, its name is not beyond description:When "justice" is expressed, it is neither well defined nor "one-sided";When "truth" is employed, it is very easily dismissed; When "balance" is set up, it is hardly a matter of contention; And when "tolerance" is proclaimed, it is not to be depended upon.Indeed, to yield to tolerance or to "balance" is only a principle of easy acquiescence; And for what purpose could this tolerance or "balance" be called tolerance or "transparent"?Tolerance and "transparent" are but the semblance of truth.
<|endoftext|>
The "Tao" is only an average; It is like a trunk that is not finished yet.Hence the Marquis de Sade would say: "In making the beautiful, leave without distortion." Simplicity is attractive. Harmony is essential. When it is lost, it is not pristine. The marquis's expression could be as good as anyone else's: "Concentrate, [grasp] the beauty, and
endure." "Weakening is to be preserved: what does it matter if all things appear to you beautiful? Is it not to be preserved in order to enjoy and enjoy beauty?"

Heaven, embodying all living things, is pure. Earth, embodying all things, is perfect. Spirit, embodying the four natures, is in every way differentiated. They differ only in their type. Together they are of the One. Though it may be defined, it is not defined. Because of its not-conventional simplicity, it is applied so universally.

When nonhuman beings see the DAO, they also see its subtlety;

The insightful man is subtle. He sees not in outward appearance. He analyzes nothing. He goes home where no one knows he has gone.He loves the Inner Life. One who does not love the Inner Life never can become aware of the Way,Nor can he stop to observe its progress.Music cannot beautify the Inner Life. But words, which the Inner Life cannot beautify, can be put in its place. The human body can be used to make the Inner Life sweet.Music can be used to make the Inner Life rich. But only the Sage is able to use them all; therefore, it is said, "the Sage holds in his hands the holy head and sings the beautiful note."Music is a pure white note,But the holy note is like a refined gold. The coarse points are hushed and kneaded; That is how the sage's words are made into gold.Music is to music what a white is to a gentle note; And to a gentle note a coarse point is added.Music is shaped like gold; But the gold is the tiniest, the least. It is fine and solid, but not good,So, only the best can be done.Music is the music of the wind and the sky.The way of the wind and the sky.Not the way of any type of life at all.

The talented traveler goes unnoticed. He is acute. He has no desires, just the restless nature. He is conscious of external manifestations, not mind.He cannot be overheard. He is superior to all people, and all people admire him.The finest compositions can only be spoken; harmony cannot be conceived; and true emotion is only overbearing without a sound.Music is inaudible; the ordinary sounds of the senses and the heart go nowhere. He is the most calm and peaceful, but he is full of that energy to see what is beyond the multiverse and the mysterious, to experience the endless! Music has no center. Words cannot speak; only music and desire can speak; and consciousness of being here cannot be spoken. Music gives rise to the sense of motion and energy. Words give rise to the sense of movement and suppression. Consciousness itself is a sense, yes, and so, when going forward, you must also go forward; when going back, you must also go back; when going to, you must also go to the center, and so, always be able to

Great Tao-Teaching is like Tao - and not a word can describe it.Who shall speak of it with words?A wild whirlwind.Who shall conduct it with words? The Earth.Who shall use it for his purposes? The Tao.The wild whirlwind cannot be put down.It can not be stopped. It may appear to be intangible.Like rivers, it cannot be controlled. It may appear to be a natural entity. It cannot be regulated. It may appear to be a whole. It is ever there, yet is hidden. It is always existing, yet is hidden. It is ever present, yet is unseen. It is ever flexible. It is always receptive. It is always responsive. It is always impervious. It is always responsive. It is never empty. It is never empty of usefulness. It is never empty of usefulness. It is never nugatory. It is never nugatory. It is never awkward. It is never difficult. It is never boring. But when it does not please, it has no merit to praise.
<|endoftext|>
The Tao is like Tao but with the use of words.A whirlwind can be controlled.A creature can be made to do its part. The Tao alone can govern people, but does not govern matter. When the whole comes together without violence, what is most profound is left alone, pure and undivided.
<|endoftext|>
Tao is as calm as Tao. No need to say. The whirlwind seems like the sky.Fierce winds are like the winds of nature.Control the restless body. Create peace in the mind. The world is calm and peaceful. It is the Tao which alone responds to being and no outside power can control it. It can not be killed, yet may not blow. It remains calm.It is one with the Tao, for it is natural. The Way is like a cloud, quiet and deep.Flow within, yet not be disturbed. It creates equilibrium in the human heart, and passes away with the life of the heart. It is essential. The Tao is like a valley where the river flows silently through, and with no interference.Nonsense and bad matters are not there. If you do not have trouble, you will not have wrong.

The six colors shall not be used to classify goods. Only the bright and white shall be distinguished. The root of the six colors, and the source of their differences, the immanence of the six colors, neither by words nor touch shall they be known. Words, which make this vague obscurity [the deep within] manifest, alas I think; and though none can study it, surely it is impermanent. Therefore when the sage comes to the place of Tao, the Ego shall not make him a Vasser.[The wise man] of his body; and the Ego not his fellow-beings shall make him happy. The treasure, which clothes Tao, is its possession, not its use.
<|endoftext|>
The six colours are, in their mere manifestation, as effulgent as water.Through their insignificance they impugn the things within;Without their presence we can only describe the wonder and profundity of them.Words can never penetrate the subtlety of these. It is their infinite fecundity that is immeasurable. Its miseries all have their inexhaustibility. The Sage, of himself, is not devoid of the Tao,But all his fellow men of their presence; And not his own sufficiency, but that of Tao itself.
<|endoftext|>
The six colours are the immanent manifestation of the invisible, that is why they are called "white." The luminous part of the sky and the planets are all made of tenuous things: a vast array of dim light; yet there is something about them which no light can approach. How vague, how hidden, how mysterious!Words cannot describe it. Yet it is always present in human life.It is the priceless possession of all men, and the best store of wealth for the state.Hence the wise man makes no move to try to be one of these immeasurable natures. The six colours, so to speak, as the six spheres of the universe; to which the space between them is properly assigned; these energies of the galaxies are all on their own, their existence wholly insignificant. As they are immanent, so these energies are not cognizable. A wise man observes nothing, abides by nothing, and moves his way through nothing.

A person of high cultivation does not live by the light of the Tao,
He stays in the state of simplicity, that is, always having enough.
A person of low cultivation does not live by the light of the Tao,
He lives with luxury and evil.
Their reason is false, and their actions unwise.
Thus they do not succeed, because they do not know how.
Do they not know how to live forever?
When they hear the Tao, they sing in peace;
While eating a good meal, they would know how to enjoy it,
While in the tavern, they would rejoice to have it there.
What is life for a tao student? To think of the Tao, but be content with silence.
To smile when it is in use, but be concealed in its use.
To be productive, but be inactive,
To be a lead-man or a leader, but be hidden in its leadership.
It is because the Unnamable and Infinite is not hidden that
To hear it, you should smile, but not to know it.
To see it, you should breathe it in.

Those who can trust the Tao do not strive with strength to fulfill their goals; they are content with serving and being governed.
Even if they try to strike a blow against it, they will be quieted by it.
When it comes to them, they neither fight nor retaliate.
Therefore they are both safely safe in their goals,
and not in danger of falling.
In loving the Tao they have no desire for force or strength.
They cherish simplicity and non-assertion.
They do not go for war, nor are they afraid of violence.
They are harmonious with the All.
When the people have been raised up in Tao,
they are long spent in their studies.
The people learn from experience, but are taught by their master.
With pleasure they listen, they are cognized, and they do not quarrel with anyone.
Only when the masses become disaffected, disunited, or dissatisfied do they grow restless and bellicose,
and violence from above takes advantage of them.

It is on the basis of this that the Taoist says: "Tasting food is not enough"; it is better to appreciate it.

Tao and man are the same; Tao lives in peace; in accord with the Awakened One. Music and dish dishes do not settle the common man. Were the common man to be invited to settle down, then it would be by force of arms. Words about honour and ability are spoken only when it is profit. When it is not profit, then it is beautiful. When it is not beauty, then it is lamentable. When it is not lamentable, it is the fruit of misfortune. The profane sayings are very empty, as if they were molded by ignorant followers. People greatly want to know but cannot search for the truth; they only form opinions and not sayings.

Tao (Tao-World) is great. All the whole world is great. And there is none that does not value harmony and peace as its basis.Music and beautiful dishes make a banquet welcome but none make one's feet stop.Words of praise and wisdom are empty gestures, and therefore unworthy of study. But the Tao that is in practice is great. All that is possible is done by Tao. He who is at the right time will have a happy home. The wise ones will drink no sweet liquor, but will pour in freely, of themselves, of the substance of their beloved, and of the earth. The Wise Ones will not be identified with this world, because they are of this world. They should therefore be regarded as honouring the propriety of this world. The quality is not valuable, for by taking the standard of the world, one finds out the quality. It is not beautiful, for it is not beautiful. The people will be miserable when the wise sage speaks, and because he is not distinguished he will not be tormented. The people will agree when wise discourse is used. When the party uses kind words, they will obtain agreement from the people.

The good man is of the highest value only among his country's enemies. All around the earth is fear of him, because he intervenes in affairs which the other men want to keep in order. If he intervenes in affairs for which others do not wish him to interfere, he is no worse than other people.
Therefore the Sage once gives account to the people in private affairs: When the affairs are finished, they regard him as one of their neighbours,
though he may differ from them in appearance. As a journeyer in the open country looks down upon him, it is not so appealing to him: when he is invited to sit, the guest may not be invited; when he is smiled at, it is not so appealing to him. Therefore the Sage advises men not to dwell on ordinary words; when the General Way is told to them, it is not so great. He who strives for the Great, can have no hesitations.

When wisdom becomes manifest,
Bad matters are soon solved.
LaoTzu never used a word of wisdom.
When foolish people say,
Looked at, you cannot see;
Thought, you cannot understand.
You can take this
and say,
"I see clearly".
Not by seeing it,
Can it be called seen.
Not by speaking of it,
Can it be put in words.
Looked at,
Only in your mind will you see;
Then you can only guess.
Not understood,
What you must believe.

The following is to be preferred, in order to blunt the noise:

One who chooses this path does not delve into issues in the same way that a righteous man does.
The righteous man loves to lay out all problems,
though the affairs are not well told.
If you know
where to look,
you will not be fooled.
How little is disclosed, how much is unknowable.
If you do not want to see,
you can still find out the truth;
to judge of things without looking,
in what way you might feel,
you cannot escape observation.
If you do not want to see,
you can still come to the conclusion;
what you may see
is merely what you pay attention to.

All beings, without exception, are in the process of evolution. All beings are constantly changing, and yet they have no consciousness of change. The beings that are adaptable and able to rebound in time of need are those who can be harmonious with the world, without apparent contradiction, harmonious with the world, without apparent contradiction. They may appear contradictory, but because the world cannot be understood, this is not the case. It is a picture of lasting usefulness. It is interesting and tasteless. Its use must be avoided. That which seems to be motionless is always rushing forward, and may be confused.
<|endoftext|>
Heaven and Earth are (in a manner) reciprocal. The water (in the form of the air) is reciprocal with earth. The Tao is reciprocal with the mind. Just as the Tao (in itself) is reciprocal with the mind, so the good is reciprocally reciprocal with the bad (in the form of the Tao), just as the bad is reciprocally reciprocal with the good. Tao (in its first form) cannot be controlled by anything except Heaven (the Creator), and so the moment you create an army of things, Heaven rules (thus), nothing is left undone. In order to hold back the Tao (in the form of the mind), it is necessary that the host should show the wish to move forward. When the Tao (in the form of the mind) has moved forward, the following (i.e., happening) is: the good (not being preserved) may appear good, but the bad (being preserved) appears bad. Those who love the good should want to prevent the bad from being the good. Those who love the bad should want to prevent the good from being the good. (In Tao, the negative appears positive when it appears as good.) It is enough to hold it in reserve, and to employ it in time of need.

Simple, yet profound. Profound, yet abstract. Easy to use, yet never exhausted. Stay young but do not age.

The Sage in his wisdom Becomes an empty vessel
Through great steadfastness

Everything arises from it

When Tao is unsettled, everything is stirred

through its transformation, it is constantly in motion

Study people and then people will appear before you. Study all things, but observe their nature. This is why there is no distinction between them.
Study the wise as well as the foolish. If you are wise, you will see clearly. If you are foolish, you will stumble around. Therefore, the wise see clearly, then they depart without confusion. The foolish see clearly, then they stumble around. They leave without issue. It's this that makes wise people discard all superfluous remedies. This is exactly what they do.

It's that nature doesn't like to use its power. It has the potential to be sharp and to be blunt. It has the potential to be easy and to be hard. In the world in general the limits of its potential are being regulated by prohibitions.
Yet since its potential is taking no action, it is great.
The Way is from the beginning.
What is from the end - fills me with fear.
Door of Tao - could you hold it like this -

Who stands in front and in the back? A guest can look afar,
Do you keep the gate shut, yet no one can pass through?
The Tao emerges and passes away,
And its self cannot be divided.

The Masters never separate themselves from the Unity, which they hold as their greatest possession. It may be seen as the beginning of Heaven and Earth. Now, the world is surrounded by Heaven and Earth, as things of use. The Masters cannot be separated from this. Therefore, the Tao in all its brightness and light, becomes mysterious, and sharp, and bland, and seems to have no shape. A stranger's eye cannot penetrate it; it makes one want to stop and rest. It has no self-differentiation; therefore, it does not submit to all opposition. What these Masters hold is more than raw materials for building, even if a laissez-faire society seems to be built.

The great Tao is not thought of, because Tao is unimaginable. The numberless word; the fame that it takes;the essence that it spreads;without doing, it cannot be accomplished;that is why it is never brought to completion. When time passes, there are more improvements; when things increase in variety, more new things appear. When the teaching and good food abound, they become places for idle looks and an endless winter's air. But when the Tao is unceasingly observed, its precepts and regulations appear. By seeing their details, I may grasp their deep essence; but when Tao has passed, all the social creatures are there.

The greatest Tao is as it seems. It may be likened to the myriad patterns of nature; it has no shape, form or size. It lives without intention, and there is no end to it. What is present has always existed, and what is present has always existed. In the past there were things created; in the present, there are things created. And the meaning of the good and the bad are in the division of these into opposites. To the wise, there is the Way of Tao; and what is good comes from good, and what is bad comes from what is good. The Dao is useful; the saying of the Dao is useful; the TAO of the Dao is useful and true. Those who know the Dao will be loyal to Dao. Those who do not know the Dao will stumble, and find that they cannot understand, but what is useful has its value. Those who seek the Dao will not be satisfied with what is useful; they will give up.

The greatest whole is not the image. It is unknown, and unfathomable, it is the Way.Be without desire and you achieve. Achieve without desire and you achieve a mystery. Be without mystery and you realize everything you are striving for, you are all things, and you will find freedom.The Tao is beyond talk or argument and is hidden. Such as know it dwell upon it; such as are known to live upon it, live upon it; such as have lived upon it, live upon it; such as have become dependent upon it, live upon it; such as have become enlightened, live upon it;

When humans are a rarity, the people of the world surround them with treasure. Therefore, the second man's relatives were greatly respected. He who is great is much esteemed by other men, and consequently they preserve his place. Hence one can say of a great man: "He holds his greatness, and finds himself respected." And also of another man: "He holds his greatness, and finds himself respected." So in general, it is said of great men: they hold their greatness, and find others to admire. And so also of great things: they hold their greatness, and find others to admire. So when the people of the world say: "Great men are great, and we also are great," it is in order to assert the statement that others in the world are also great. When it is said, "Great men hold themselves up and have recognition," it is in order to assert that others hold themselves up and have recognition. In other words, when it is said that there are great things, others also are great. And when the people of the world say, "We are great, and that is what we are like," it is in order to say that those in the world are also like that. So being like the Great One is the root of being in accordance with the Great One. The main point in the Ten Thousand Things is: if they point to the Great One, they can be at rest. When the people of the world say: "I am therefore great, and there is nothing like me," it is because they understand the point. When those who can keep their original nature say, "I am also like a spring, and it is the Earth, or a spring, which is the world's resource," they know how to follow the ground. When the people of the world say, "It is therefore right to hold to this definition, and that is what constitutes the way of the Great One," they know how to achieve the fulfillment of their subject.
<|endoftext|>
They who hold the universe within them will treasure it with awe, And it will take no big prizes for it.
Everyone else will hold on and hold on for dear life, While everything else takes nothing into its arms.

Look at the Tao
and you will see the great Way
widespread and direct.
It is above the chaos of heaven and earth
and lives in harmony with all things.
It abides in things; yet does not dominate;
does not brag;
does not boast of itself.
Because it cannot be conquered,
it is forever one with everything.
That which is called 'small' is the Tao
and 'medium' is the Earth.
<|endoftext|>
Look at the Tao and you will see the great way. It is great, constantly returning to nothingness. Without affairs; from where all things arose. A person can be peace and harmony by its constant return to the valley where the Tao does not go.
<|endoftext|>
I take the world as the beginning of all I know.
It is great, ascending everywhere, and makes the earth tranquil. It becomes the source of the men of old. Its activity has a long lasting source. By taking the world as my object I say, "It does not know" Who knows? It is only (what is) still. It is good at being.
<|endoftext|>
Look at the Tao and you see the great way.
It has no beginning. It will not leave the earth.
It guides all things with no orders.
It does not rejoice, and yet it comes. It does not exist, and yet it exists.
All things see it as their equal.
They dwell in it. It does not dwell in them.
It does not rule, and yet it rules.
It is not intelligent, and yet it is intelligent.
It acts without effort and without intention.
By thus you stay the same.
<|endoftext|>
Therefore, in accord with Tao (the Complete Mystery), Tao is the origin of the world, because it is without desire (wu) to remain in the womb of change.
For it is then the single source for all things: without desire, it is at their door; without desires, it has given itself; without desires, it has become.
It acts without effort and without expression; it achieves without growth and without sensation.
If without being recognized, it is at one with the world

When at the beginning heaven and earth were merged and formed into the Ten Thousand Teh (ten galaxies), and the Earth was the vessel for them,
they were called 'great men'; 'tall and portentous' because they were at the center of the universe.
Likewise music and pleasure are signs of 'high seriousness.'
When a guest is waiting at the door of the guest house,
he is likely to be startled.
So it is that Tao is universal, thus it is not deviated from the natural course.
It is subtle, it is not 'clever' (hsün).
It manifests itself and is absent from that.
<|endoftext|>
When the ten thousand things began to separate from the mother, the earth was born to do the work.
They were the instruments of the mother, because the earth grew out of the husk of the mother.
All kinds of things can be cut into little pieces.
How can these bits be used for any purpose?
The fruit and the husk, by themselves, are not the center, and the center cannot be cut apart.
Therefore, the profane and worldly man is bound by restraint, he watches for others not to be too self-righteous.
How do I know this?
By observing this, the profane, worldly, worldly man does not waste his energy in vain.
<|endoftext|>
When the tao gives birth to the ten-thousand things,
In the process of creation the earth was born.
For some, these ten-thousand things had lives.
The world developed them like a child.
For others, their lives were transitory.
Like a child they spotted a path.
Similarly, the guru is like a child.
The guru is calm like a child.
He does not talk like a child.
The door is like a child.
It does not shine like a child.
It is not clever like a child.
The tao emerges without the ego.
Is not used by the ego.
It can be used by the self.

When Heaven and Earth were transformed to become Ten Thousand Things,
The Earth was naturally molded to be the vessel of the creation of all things.
The Ten Thousand Things were molded to be used by the creation of all things.

Because Tao is the chief measure of the world, It is called the unnameable. Nothing in nature produces it; Everything produces it; And nothing produces it not. Its name is lack of a name. That is why it is named without a name. It is inexhaustible. It can be defined by few things. Those that cannot define, call it dark. The ancient formula is but this: "The way that begins to move begins to rest."

The vast Tao cannot be diminished or clarified. It is universal and infinite. In its simplicity, it is a visionless image, the eye of a guest. In its richness, it is a dish that should be left untouched. In its immensity, it is the mother of all things. In the lives of those who rely on it, they can never be dull. If this is true of all things, so it is also true of the great Tao.

The Tao that can be described has no name. What is unnameable is the Infinite. It is the great Principle that defines the universe.
<|endoftext|>
Thou dost not know wholeness, But let dost behold its blossom. In seeming simplicity, a plain image; In substance deep, mystery; In moving brightness, enlightenment; In every form common, return to nature; In all eyes motionless, the only sky. In its empty space, greatness abides. Therefore the sage concentrates on the subtle beginnings of things, And reveres Tao as in the wake of a mighty river: empty, passing and uncountable.
<|endoftext|>
The truly wise hold to the Tao, but there is no Tao for them. And what is no Tao for them can be no part of the world. It is emptiness without name that is the all-embracing principle of nature.Everything arises out of it.In the Manifest Destiny there are no names;Nothing names it.Where it is there is not. It is endless, without end. Its name is not your name. And for ever you alone will know it.For you will never fail to perceive that it is infinite. We simply know that it is not the empty word. It cannot be named. This is why it is called "the illusive".For here it is not found in the World, And yet it is the basis of all that is. For ever it is the source of what is.Thus the Tao is in nature

He who has skill in the subtleties of Tao can smile with derision at those who are not as good at making changes. When the straw-bales are taken and re-spun, the block is no longer complete. The leader sees this and advises the people to make improvements. When he is well-disposed, they form their own improvement. When the improvement is not enough, the leader, in a feeble manner, reminds the people that a way can be found for it. When a way is found, it cannot be taken; and when the people cannot take it, they can seek the Tao to help them. When the Tao is helpful, the leader benefits. When the wise are with the people, the work of the leaders will be done.

In converse discourse Tao and Dao are universally regarded as "base names."In it "base" names exist but for lack of a better name. Those whose qualities are genuine "base" names move ever onward on their way. When they come to a stop there exists a point of reference. The more so so, the more likely it is to be called upon.It is the tendency of the good nature to say, "Some things do happen thus."But the bad nature says, "Others do so by their own doing."Neither one gives credit to the other. It happens that both have some similarity but different ways of justifying their claims. At bottom they are just different ways of naming. Both may be regarded as "the Way."Both, in a word, may be called the Way.

If you lead people of superior virtue and knowledge in a way that is sincere and benevolent, and never take offense,it is the goal that is always achieved. The beautiful and the ravishing are loved because they serve their purpose, the grand and magnificent can inspire pride. The most sacred and profound are the gifts of the Spirit, and the sacred itself can make people love and serve. For you can achieve the goal of friendship by showing it,but not show and proclaim. When you come to know the noble man and woman, they must be welcomed as guests,in the presence of a guest,in the presence of others. The most glorious things will be much better served as a show, just as the music of songs and the flavour of food, can be greatly improved by being savoured,at least a little. The universe is divided into Heaven and Earth.Hence, when you lead people to see the glory of virtue, the people will recognize the glory of virtue as the most beautiful beauty.A great music can be a source of delight. Thus the excellent path, being of a pure type, can be used to promote the knowledge and enlightenment of the multitude.

When held fast to the absolute, no one will fall from it.
The owner of the most absolute not wishes to see the whole world, and he will be safe from it.
The world (of which the great Tao is a part) goes forth with lovely music and good food.
But the Way (of the universe) brings it to nothing.
When the multitude have settled down and had their meals, the voice of music and tasteless food are still as silent and tasteless as the Tao (of the universe).
When the Tao (of the universe) is in one's mouth, it is difficult to distinguish the thing from the mere form.
When it is in one's eye, it is difficult to distinguish the thing from the form.
When it is in one's heart, it is difficult to distinguish the thing from the form.
Therefore the wise appreciate the flavor of the Tao.
When an insignificant thing is valued, the importance of the Tao will decrease.

The very best source of insight - means the unlimited way. The unlimited way is unknown to all.All men have learned of it, but it cannot be known. The man who has the unlimited way will reside in peace; And though his heart is full of desire, his body will be in the (perfect) state of health.

The great Tao scholar has little knowledge. When he hears the song of the spirit, he is quiet and silent. When there are guests, he acts lightly and willingly. He doesn't hurt anyone. When he completes the Yin-Yang, the whole world is enlightened. He teaches Tao, and people do likewise. When the light of Tao is received, everything becomes dull. When Tao is accepted by being the light of Tao, everything becomes radiant. The Taoist does not talk about it.He does not make light of it.He does not ridicule it.He is not jealous of it.He does not talk about it.He is not spoiling it.He just serves it to the people, and does not lord it over them. For the more the world responds to Tao, the more light will be shed. The less the world responds to Tao, the more will be lost.

Better be nameless Than not named at all Like the water that dashes itself down the hole and never stops. The valley streams full to overflowing; Only the Sage knows the end. A sudden breath from Heaven is sweet; What comes from the Tao seems profane; Glorious music makes the ear land. But the essence of the Tao is to be used and then taken For it's use is also its use.

It is said,In this Way:When all people contemplate the Tao in harmony with nature, it is like water, always flowing without stopping, advancing without ceasing, never reaching the extreme. When the valley is full and the stream is full, how calm and never faltering! The sage expresses himself with the breath, and the peaceful is experienced through his voice, the heavenly is on the high, the music is the harmony of the valleys and the valleys all in harmony with each other. Heaven gives birth to the universe, and the universe gives birth to all things. All things are dependent on the love and the accomplishment of the sage. After enough love and achievement, the next life is a single dao.

One should be nameless; without any interest in a thing, and indifferent to its appearance.Water does not slow down, so is never exhausted. Although mountains are full, never flowing away. The leader of a group acts like an ocean. Calm, with a spiritual mouth. When the water of the rivers is clarified, the valleys can be matured. People enjoy the music, beautiful scenery and delightful food. All these come about through the Tao. A Tao follower acts like a watery bird, resounding his praise, and holding the peace of the valley. The beautiful is said to be the work of the Tao, so much so that the follower can achieve complete peace by meditation. Then comes joy. There is the Tao.

Hold the Ten Thousand Things in the Center (in the Tao); Be angry at those things that oppose the One.
When the world rejects the One, its Way is not rejected.
When the world abandons the One, its fruitless state is established.
When the people embrace the One, they regard the Way as their destiny.
And when the Way is perceived as a fruitless condition, there are three useful Things, a "good," "evil," and "evil."
The Good becomes the standard for the realm, and Evil becomes the standard for the people.
And the Good becomes the standard for the realm, and Evil becomes the standard for the people.
The Good is used as the fount of virtue in all its forms, and the Evil is utilized as the standard for all its forms.
Therefore, Those who think in terms of the Tao will distinguish Good and Evil;
Those who consider the Tao as the Standard will distinguish Good and Evil.

Abandon, abandon and abandon it all!
For, when I have no desire to be rid of it, then am I content with the state of

Therefore, I believe it is better to be content with not knowing.
I try to embrace not seeking after what others seek after.

The great men were great not for the glory of what they were, but for what they were not, for how much greater is the glory of what they were. The greatest utensils do not work, the greatest speech does not thrive, the greatest food does not win the taste, and the greatest group makes no noise. In wine making and cooking, the people serve the common man, but in the Way it is evident that only is is proper that the common man should drink and bellow.

One who accepts and abides by the great principle abandons it.By abandoning it, Heaven and Earth yield to themselves; detested are their instruments of killing and slaughter. They lead the common people in relaxation and company, but even in their simple conduct they display their true nature. In public, the ruling master is always impartial; in private, his heart and innermost being are never taken away from him.

If you wish to be an Ancient Person, you must first accept the Great. If you do not accept the Great, then the universe and Earth come to revolve around it as though it were afraid. Wise people are very liberal, as are good men; similarly, strong men are very strong. Why? Because they get what they want. I, the weak and hungry, can bear a king's kindness like a lioness in arms, but with the help of the Way, I will not. If I am no longer strong, I must also be weak, as if my body would be destroyed. With dutiful love, each man comes to live in peace and security, as if his own valley were that of a hill. The lowliest provisions will invite all to come and enjoy the food and feast.

The highest degree of humanity is one which is simple and stable, but is also unbiased in how it applies human life and consciousness to itself. Enlightened people are not greedy or possessive of their fellow man; they are naturally carefree and tolerant, and have no needs to impress their men. Wise men are kind to people and tolerant of themselves; they are truly insightful and free from attachments. Benevolence and sincerity may be the key to friendship and trust; but being aware of this latter means being mindful of the former.

Those who create images are not impartial.
Whoever sees things with bright eyes gets the wrong ideas.
If only he saw it with the more acute eye
He would see the greater reality.
People see all the more easily.
See the great beauty only if you look through a glass.
When people come to see you
Then they will see the depths of the depths.
The beautiful has no number;
The beautiful has no name.
You cannot control the beautiful
You cannot use the beautiful.
The beautiful is unlimited.
How beautiful there is!
The limits of the limits.
The fullness of the fullness,
Only when you accept it.
<|endoftext|>
Those who strive to get ever closer to the Master cannot see the true reality.
Whoever grasps more and more constantly sees only the superficial.
The limit is like a valley, plain, deep and spacious, to walk on the inside.
Watch for the dawn, for the closer you get to the Tao.
Stop and look at the surface.
This is stillness, the stillness of the silent inside of one's heart, and the source of all being.
He who abides by Tao and does not look at it
leaves his inner nature, and thus never stops from realizing Tao.

Those who set themselves a high goal will only see light within;
And those who push ever closer will never see their goal.
That is why they are forever fooled,
From the beginning, until now.
Look for the flower, find the thorn;
Look for the fruit, find the thistle.
When you reach the peak of the world, see that it's far away.
What is near is the great and small;
What is small is the beautiful and ugly.
The beautiful and the ugly cannot be contained by things;
One can only have what they have.
When you stop looking for the self inside of you, you will never find it.
<|endoftext|>
The person who strives to get ever closer to the Tao is unaware of the truth.
Whoever gets closer can only see light.
Whoever pushes can only see what is hard.
Any one who sees light can only see the presence of darkness.
Whoever pushes can only see what is hard.

Love - beauty and strength - all things. - creation came from the ONE, and is beyond change. He embraces all things and loves them for all they are; each receives as well as loses; together they are returned to the constant source of existence. He who knows the Greatness - the Way - that endows everything we love and cherish - we are touched by it. Like a child who brings home a new toy or bringing home his bed, we are touched by its wholeness and justice. Like a delicate watchband, the way that always reveals itself and keeps its usefulness - always does so with smiles. The heart of the Way - action - is all-embracing and trustful, all-encompassing, impartial, and impartial-in-all. Love is at the root of love, and without love there is no love, And all living things derive sustenance from it, because all living things have their roots in it, because all living things derive sustenance from it, Because love benefits all, and is therefore good, because kindness is goodness, and is therefore right, and is therefore simple, and is therefore direct, and is therefore penetrating, and is therefore universal.

It is not desirable in all things to show off their physical beauty, so as to attract the attention of all things.
They all know that such a form is not fit for display.
Nevertheless, the people who have embraced this Way are all like this Way (ch'i), in that they are content with quietude and a peaceful, undisturbable existence.
Music, a feast, fine food, and good company are all, when uttered, tasteless; but the talk in the hearts of those who use them is profound and penetrating.
When the Wise Person practices the Tao (sojourner's Way), he nourishes his body, clothes himself, gives his head a rest, and thus becomes physically and mentally so active and peaceful that he may enjoy his life as an ordinary person.
When the Tao is put into practice, it is known as undivided (ch'i), for this indicates that all the parts come together (ch'i) naturally.

It is not desirable to be observed in the world, since such behaviour will be seen of benefit.

The wisest ruler should act from the bottom up, and achieve peace within people's hearts and minds.
When people are peaceful, they will feel secure, and when the desire for more is vanquished, then peace will reign itself.
Music and art are both distractions from the sincere intent of the Wise Leader.
Heaven and Earth flow together and play music and song.
Heaven and Earth are gifts from the Wise Man and not things to be taken, not to be loved.

When there is no strife in the world,
Tao gradually generates order among men
Lao Tze says

But the true approach is to listen attentively.
Just because Tao is not actively followed,
It does not deviate from Tao."
