Things form by not forming them. Things are formed by not losing themselves. Thus they never have more than they need. Like the ocean, it flows: easy to access, yet so deep it cannot be reached. Forced into becoming, they become unrecognizable. Like valleys, they become cut, yet so deep they cannot be seen. Unworthy of being found, they become hidden. Forging the wheel, however, is impossible, for by forging it, they lose the ten thousand things. However hard they try, such as they may be, things are not all the same.
<|endoftext|>
Do you not notice how the world is transformed, by knowing how to reject things? So the Tao does not change, without change. The world is formed by being, but is destroyed by being. The change is such that it is not present. If you reject things, you reject themselves. If you do not possess them, you are not deprived. Thus the man of high reputation, to whom others will follow, will not cling to fame or glory. To him all things return. To the world, things are changeable, although they may not be in a position to change.
<|endoftext|>
Things do not change without rejecting them. Nature moves without rest. Therefore it may be described as having many valleys, which it can never climb up. For climbing it, it may fall; for falling, it may fall without a fall. You want to accomplish the great work, but only when you have boundless change, And will never forget how insignificant you are.
<|endoftext|>
Do you not see the way of transformation without change, ? Therefore it is the way of heaven, ! and the way of nature.
Revert by returning, and you must return to the source;
Revert by having no desire, and you will return to simplicity.
Revert, but do not lose sight;
Revert yet without desire,
Revert yet seeking,
Revert yet to win;
Revert yet to change.
<|endoftext|>
When the self has no thought of change;
Nature thus runs its course of action.
No group of creatures can contend against it;
it can never be defeated.
The war of the natural world,
of things and men,
can no more be won,

Those who seek to shape the universe by their efforts cannot be trusted. The universe itself is governed by a creative Tao. The Tao that can be shaped by anyone will not last. The Tao that can be shaped by anyone is not the True Tao. Those who desire to control the universe by willpower will fail. In order to control the universe, it is necessary first to be free of desire. The time before birth cannot be held in bondage by desires. This is the mystery of Heaven. It is in order to feel joy that people lose their sense of joy. It is in order to know sorrow that people lose their sense of sorrow.
<|endoftext|>
Those who call upon the Tao for their improvements cannot be trusted. The Tao of the Universe does not depend upon their claims. The Tao that does not depend upon its claims cannot last long.Matter is born but the Tao is destroyed.Matter is produced but the Tao is destroyed.
<|endoftext|>
Those who seek to shape the world by themselves are not worthy of the world. The world as it is, you cannot shape. The world as it existed before creation, can't be shaped. Those who try to shape it will soon decay. Those who try to manipulate it will soon lose. The Way and contentment are the same in the Way and emptiness, in contentment. Those who maintain contentment are generally better at governing a country, while those who try to manipulate the Way are generally better at governing the world.
<|endoftext|>
Those who constantly demand the mind to serve them are not worthy of the mind. When the mind is in its fullest development, no change, no changes, will result. When the mind reaches its greatest flexibility, it is set free from knowledge of what is. When the mind is deprived of knowledge, nothing is left undone. The noblest among men can be the tools of a villain; But the worst of men are the tools of a follower.Whoever knows the distinctions between the two will have clarity;Whoever knows the ways of contrast will have clarity in his mind.If the difference between a follower and a betrayer is not obvious to the mind, then it cannot be known to the mind.If the mind is not enlightened, he will forever find himself perplexed. In being informed and free of all prejudice, the sage dwells in his nature.

Those who keep to a perfect virtue do not delight in violence. Violence, if it perishes, produces its opposite. If, though inauspicious be spoils others, their disasters will have been entrusted to them. But those who have what they want, take it; they are glad when others have come to their own ease, and would abandon them, though not without reason; who have their glory, try to make a distinction among themselves; who have plenty of wealth, are contented with an unduly luxurious view; who have the muscles of the arms, are full of self-consciousness; and those who are strong, would seem feeble; in this way princes with the loyalty of princes, greatly differ from princes without loyalty; for princes without loyalty, will sometimes be toppled; and princes with loyalty, will often become illustrious. Whoever gets what they want, loses it; whoever is humbled, gets their place; whoever is looked up to, will stumble. For princes without loyalty will be toppled. For princes with loyalty, glory will be lost. Those who appear to be their followers lose the credit they deserve; those who are the chiefs they regard as unpretentious, fall short of respect. The meaning is, whoever keeps to the Way, loses the sense of self.
<|endoftext|>
Those who have perfect compassion do not grumble. There are those who lose their compassion because of its power. This power is made up of four powers. When it is shattered, only the left side will be left. Those who lose their compassion do not rejoice. There are those who gain their compassion because it is innocent. Only those who gain their compassion do not revel in it. Those who are deluded will rejoice. Those who have power have desires. When true power is felt, those who desire to be powerful will see fulfillment, and those who are led will stumble. Those who achieve victory have true righteousness. Those who strive for greatness have true integrity. Those who prevail lose their true selves. Those who gain victory do not realize what they have done. Those who are the leaders of followers see the lie of the people's hearts and do not keep their teachings. Therefore, some of them are victorious, and some of them stumble. Some of them are victorious, but others will lose

Bearing a heavy vessel with your desire to reach a high note will result in the loss of the note; can you put it back with the higher note? How do the rulers and priests differ In the way they find the use of dao? In the reason for ruling. That may be known by the number of instruments In the time spent to devise it; in the work done; in the name
Although others may have riches
Trying to make a country grand;
To put down the weighty vessel, and to carry it is to lose the richness,
The following rules govern the government of princes and kings: the king stays in a position of being firm and firm, he does not soften or soften by means of peace; the princes and kings differ in this respect: the sovereign is firmly established in the use of the tools of the state, but cannot take their rest in the use of the tools of the state. The reason for this is that he cannot know the way out of his own condition. He keeps it in the forefront, in the flower, in the harmony, in the inter-relationships. This is the reason for the wisdom of the ruler.

The loyal bowler at high note dares not achieve their aim. The soft bowl dares not complete its duty.
The rulers and lords differ in what they do at the end.
Tao acts with the capacity to set people's hearts on fire;
It acts with the capacity to bring people of high character to their knees.
The designation of instruments by rulers and nobles makes them change;
The designation of activities by rulers and nobles makes them change their position.
Tao accomplishes what it does by choice;
It accomplishes its actions by taking action itself.
The sage acts as the single instance:

As soon as the ruler speaks, all things pass by. As soon as the bard sings, all things return to silence. When the chief produces, everything is at once filled and filled again. The age is inexorable as you contemplate it. The great Way is eternal. If you look inside it, you see nothing. If you look out, you see the world. If you follow it, you find that it runs to the left and you then fall in love with this new world. If you are older than old, you drift in the world as soon as you lose your grasp. Whoever seeks the great Way will never meet his end.
<|endoftext|>
Long before kings made their sacred speech,
all things followed. Before the bard palled,
all things fell silent. Before the leader made his speech,
all things were at peace. Before one kneaded the hardy roots,
all things became mature. Before the great Te was developed,
all things rose into the full light. Before kings ruled the people;
all things fell into the embrace of servitude.
Before the great Te manifested, the whole world had
become a state of silentness and normality.
It is through lack of Tao that some of mankind's
labors are despised and misfortunes endured.

Ever since ancient times,
Everybody takes to hearing a message,
But more and more they can only listen,
and the expression on their faces is not the same as before.
The greatest potential
Expressed once again,
Long ago, a great door is opened,
But no one can be found to step inside.
As soon as the Tao is revealed,
People emerge with a new sense of confidence.
As soon as the Tao is made clear,
People are eager to use it.
The timeliest things are invented:
They begin, too, with kneading and cutting,
and then with the mending of the mud.
The people that follow Tao
Are very close to the Tao itself.
Since they do not use it,
They fall short of it.

There's no reason why a man should hold power over people, Unless you desire to use it to your advantage. But I dare say, there are hardly any men, who would want to be rulers of the world, In that I can see none who would take that position. Therefore, if a ruler wants to control all men, he's only pursuing an unfair attainment. For a ruler who wants to govern men, to take one's stand firmly on it Is nothing short of selfishness and disloyalty. I don't know how a man can take a stand on it, if he's unheeded, or if he's forgotten. If I see a great sage standing on it, I try to treat it with humanity. If I see a leader of other men, I don't like to look up to them. Why? Because I look for results. If I stand on one end of the arm, And look at the other side, I don't dare to be indulgent, if I see others fail; The second is learned, The third without merit. If I'm fed on fours, I have to abide by one body, And if I'm fed on one end, I don't dare to be obstinate, If I'm fed on the other, I can't stay with one body. It's as the second applies to this whole system.

Aim to observe what it is that the universe is. Do not follow things which others take as their rule. For heaven and earth know nothing of themselves, and neither does the gods. Whoever wishes to understand them will not succeed. The supplicant to the world follows the way of the heavens and the earth, not that of his own nature. He is not followed, and when he is, he is not satisfied. He who seeks after things of his own volition does not achieve his ends. The sage is like the springbird who brings forth only what he has already selected, not those which others bring forward. In his choice of things he chooses not to contend.

It has been long feared in those who have listened, that what they are about to hear is bound to turn out differently from what they have been taught. The following may be told them:
1. The Way of the universe is like to sit still, with no motion.
2. The Way of the universe is like to change, with no change.
3. The Way of the universe is like to grow, with no growth.
4. The Way of the universe is like to be full, with no fullness.
5. The Way of the universe is like to be empty, with no emptyness.
6. The Way of the universe is like to be hard to find, with no hard to find.
7. The Way of the universe changes for those who live in the material world.
8. The material world in turn changes for those who live in the Way.
Therefore, the sage devotes himself to that which is of use in giving and receiving; - he never acts in an unworthy manner.

It's the 'outside' that rolls up the eyes. And the 'inside' that rolls up the ears. The reason you sound as angry as you do is that you have been surprised. When you have shown yourself as confused, you have done great damage. You will do great damage if you try to make a fuss over things like this.

When these things are so firmly established, who can manage their four quarters? The sun does not set on its work, nor does it stumble upon all things under heaven. Such things are permanent, and in their possession do not be wasted. Those who are clever in their hunting do not take advantage of the passions of others. Those who are earnest in their teaching never resort to argument. Those who are kind and considerate are mild and mild-hearted; those who are energetic, are weak; those who lead, are tendentious. Thus such things are distinguished, but for one who succeeds, he is shabby.
<|endoftext|>
Hence the administration of the four quarters is lost to the one who claims it. Wherefore those who would act upon the earth go astray. The earth is not an instrument for an ignorant man, nor does he waste it. Those who act on it spoil it. Those who seize it lose it.Therefore those who would go over this earth will go out of the way.The self-controlled among men will not interfere, the self-controlled among men will not show off, the self-controlled among men will not be prone, the self-controlled among men will not be stubborn. Thus one who is mild in his dealings will be mild in his handling.

To open your heart and let go of learning, This is how to win the world. To be occupied by worldly affairs, This is not good for the world. He who knows how to attract a mind and hold it, can gain the world. To make things go by themselves, he is usually alone; He who indulges himself in a moment of agitation will soon destroy it; He who holds fast to what is strong, and yet is not excited, is sometimes ready to hold up things; He who is always yielding, and yet being steady, is sometimes ready to long endure; He who is at rest, but never self-assertion, is also at rest; He who is mild and mild is at one with the world; He who is fine and rough, and yet not rough, is at one with the world.

To keep free from superfluous thoughts is to become one with the World.Things of their own accord, may be absorbed; things going their own way, are most likely to oppose one another. Man acts by taking hold of things; And eventually he loses it.Therefore we should follow the same course with the earth,And then seek to become still again. Therefore some become leaders,Some become instruments,Some become relaxed,Some become weak,Some become scattered,Some become stubborn,Some lose control.
Thus, those who desire to act,Have not the ability, and so desire to stop,And perhaps fail, too.

Those who try to hold everything, take hold of them.
Forcing it forward, you weaken it.
Winning it, you lose it.
These are lessons for rulers:
In action, be sure you won't lose sight of the center of gravity of the world.
In speech, be sure to be like a soundless newborn.
Always keep in check others' desires.
Don't break the rules or you will never get it right.

When a ruler is using force to control his kingdom, he takes the land too lightly.
When the land is ruled too lightly, the land is forced to act forcefully.
Therefore:
In action,
Take care not to use force to dominate the world.
In speech,
Do not use force to control the world.
In power,
When you are not seen as dominating the world,
do not use force to dominate the world.
Therefore, when leaders are moved to act, they always act cautiously.
While active, hold back.
Hold back when necessary.
When time is open to act,
When time is tense, hold back.
Hold back when you are required to act.
Hold back when it makes you feel inadequate.
In this way, the sage sees who is right and who is wrong.

When, in action, many are followed up, they do not show the talent for maintaining their own method of conducting. The best policy is the well-balanced one.
<|endoftext|>
In the coming age, there will be some who advocate governing the world with force and aggression; those who advocate using force to intimidate people to comply with their demands; some who advocate quiet and yielding, others who oppose force. If there is forced action at one end and then a calm acceptance of force at the other, what kind of country is that? Who can avoid a common enemy? But some tend toward being aggressive and some tend to being quiet. Some tend toward being steady, some tend to being weak. Some tend toward pursuing, others tend to be defeated. Therefore when following an earnest desire for the spiritual life, and being completely sincere, are those who oppose force with force unwise and inconsiderate? If one tries to use force to bring about a change, one must also try to use force to bring about change. If one tries to use force to stir up others, then one must also try to use force to stir up others. If one has ulterior motives, one must also have ulterior motives.
<|endoftext|>
In order to lead people, one should be active, so that he may force people to become citizens of his kingdom. In order to act like a master in the state, he should be quiet, and then go on causing as much trouble as possible. When you are forced to act, do it in a humane way, and not be extravagant. If you try to enforce someone's will on others, you must consider that they will always do as you want. This means that you can not stay at rest, in the world. It is a matter of following the Tao and of following the ways of nature, and not acting out of selfish desires. When going against the conventional way, you will be ridiculed and ridiculed yourself. But if you put yourself in other people's position, you can earn respect of the people. So let go of your own particular way of thinking and let yourself understand the culture of others.

Be aware of your state of being. Be aware of your passions. And you have all the essential things: nature and family, nature and kingdom, the doctrine and the principles. What is real nature and what is unreal nature?
As it is real nature, there is no contrast. As it is unreal nature, there is contrast.
Be aware of the differences. We are all part of nature. We are all part of our family. We are all part of our kingdom. We are all part of our principles. We are all part of our things. We are all part of the mysteries that are hidden within.
<|endoftext|>
Heaven is the mother of heaven and earth.Earth is the mother of everything in the universe.Spirituality permeates everything. They have one and the same source. The source is different in both being and non-being, each being a vital, enduring principle that nourishes all things.
<|endoftext|>
All things arise from the womb of earth.
Earth is the mother of all things.
The world is composed of the mother.
Thus, The unity of the principle contains diversity.
Thus, the totality of the principle contains the diversity.
Thus,
All things emerge from the womb of the mother.
All things become manifestations of the mother.
Thus, The unity of the mother is diversity.
The unity of the manifestations is contrast.
Thus, the unity of the elements is diversity.
The unity of the manifestations is contrast.
Thus, the unity of the elements is contrast.
Thus, The entire substance is content to give rise to diversity.
The vast essence is so so.
Therefore, TAO does not venture to "be ahead of others".
"Failing to achieve success is not an automatic fate".
"Avoid extremes".

The profundity of the Mother is that

When the wise man seeks knowledge in search of truth, he soon falls into error. Those who seek to become great need to seek harmony. They seek to gain nothing. Those who gain need to provide for themselves. They seek to shine, but need to be surrounded by the world. Those who shine, have no choice but to shine. Those who gain nothing, will lose everything.
Those who seize and govern the world often act on this world, acting as if they were acting on another world. When a power-hungry leader acts on the world as if it's another world, he will only create even more power and conflict.
When the Tao is a guiding principle, there are few, if any, who oppose it. In contrast, those who try to control the world often act as if they were controlling the world. When a controlling leader tries to use the Tao as if it were control, he will likely destroy the Tao.

Who will give account for the universe?
It is not given to him, so he takes it. Who is a leader of people?
It is never given to him, so he makes it.
Who is a leader of ten thousand things?
It is never given to him, so he makes it.
Whoever is a bright person attains this

Who is a strong person achieves something.
Who is a strong person attains something.
It is not so; it is given to him.
Whoever is a small person achieves something.

A weak person attains something.
Who is a weak person achieves something.
When you take hold of the Universe, it becomes the world. The world is mysterious and not to be grasped.
It is not the skillful leader's chief concern. When the Tao is the leader's chief concern,
then there is no lasting peace. When you take hold of the world, then there will be strife.
It is essential to withdraw and not to struggle.

When wise leaders long ago lost their impartiality, The people began to follow their whims.
What is meant by "follow the whims"? The people start off and move ahead by following the whims of others. When other people are ahead, the others begin to slow down and follow.
How is this othering called "follow the whims?"
The people are taking advantage of the masses of others, and causing them to waste energy. The ones who begin with gain first do not last long.
Thus, to be discerning leaders: You leave yourself open for criticism. This is not to be taken lightly.
To be discerning leaders: You leave yourself open for criticism. This is not to be taken lightly.
To be arrogant: You leave yourself open for criticism. This is not to be taken lightly.
There is still time to learn, so don't waste it,
And if you can't, don't force it.

Those with a high reputation do not aim to change the world as they live it.
Those with a low reputation, if forced to act, will not remain in the world as a loyal servant.
Should a loyal servant choose to depart, the former will become like a wheel that is turned and gets spurned by the former.
Similarly, those of a high reputation, the people will begin to treat them as egocentric; (but it is not their intention to practice this selfish behavior).
Therefore, they learn the ways of others. They set an example of success and allow others to follow their example.
People with high renown are not numerous and occupy a position of great importance.
Should they be of secondary importance, they will not hold this position.
If they are not able to lead, they will die.

Wise leaders will not act to change the world.
They must act to change the world.
Those who act to change the world, fail to lead the world.
For this reason the leaders will have to act to change the world.
Those who act to change the world waste their time.
Those who act to change the world lose their self-control.

One who is adept at mixing recklessly with a myriad things is not a good source for a Great Tao.
Those who give themselves up to folly, try to conquer the world by themselves.
The world does not presume to embrace all things for itself.
Those who try to triumph over the world, win with an empty hand.
Those who conquer the world with force do not be successful.
Those who hold on to the world by force will lose it.
So those who succeed in the Great Way are not like this.
Those who are good at governing the world are not like this.
Those who rule the world like this do not prevail.
Those who are forceful, not like this.
The so-called masters rule over others and yet do not rule.
Those who rule and never presume to rule, do not maintain their position.
Those who use force and achieve no result, do not become defeated.
Thus it is said: The man who is truly wise rules by following the Tao, by following the movement of Heavens, and by not being bound by any particular state, even though he may be the most lowly of men.
<|endoftext|>
One who is great in an abstract way is not of service to Tao.
Greater than great means to the world, the world cannot abide.
Smaller than great means to others, others cannot abide.
Therefore the Great one will not let himself be bound.
The next he seeks to conquer.
The next he dwells in to his heart's content.
The next he lets, not like it.
The next he advances; he advances still, not like it.
The next he sets, is not able to move.
The next he holds on to.
The next he stops and stretches his arm on.
The next he seeks and ultimately gets nothing in return.
The next he tries to force through.
And when the great Way is broken, the result will be failure.
So the next is not so great. The next is too big.
The next is not an end in itself.
Therefore: those who are in accord with Tao are not like that.
Those who lead the world according to Tao are not like that.
Those who oppose Tao by non-interference are not like that.
Those who control the world according to Tao are not like that.

In forming an army, the commanders are instruments for the collective body, not weapons of domination, but tools of strengthening individual self-control.Therefore, the army is never a utopia, nothing like a vessel made to endure the weight of human authority. Once its might is recognized as inevitable, it returns to its natural simplicity. There is no conquest in winning a war, and victory in a war is not conquest. If you see what is great, see that it has a beginning. If you see what is prominent, see that it has an end. If you see what is rugged, see that it has a foundation. If you see what is in motion, see that it is different from you. If you are skilled in your actions, you are ready for the rest.As a king is, he needs nothing from the army; he just invites the soldiers on the mission. As a leader uses the army, he realizes his true nature. His instruments are not tools for winning an army, but tools for establishing the Prince. When you do things well, you are on the way to your enlightenment.

One who leads the army (cultivates it) isn't a drillmaster.Soldiers are instruments, not rulers. Even so, they can't be considered flawless.
This is because the skill of power, that they can, is inherently flawed, the realm was a plan for them. That's why they are flawed.
But look beyond the masses, and you see what is beyond. Just look beyond, and see what is ahead of, beyond. That's why the team is easy. The leader is tough, tough, too tough. The rickety log is strong, too weak. The strong begin, then fall. All-Power

That which has a shape has a sound. And That which is shaped cannot go far. So the Sage [one who is] Supreme cares nothing for his own body. He advances without any reason, He retreats without a reason. That which advances always rebounds. That which retreats always returns. Therefore the great Masters withdraw into themselves the invisible world and become mere vessels. Those who want to secure the world are not Sage Masters. Those who are named are not names. But those who do not rely on others, are not forerunners. Therefore the truly wise are not magnanimous, are not proud, are not prideful, are not roguish.

Those who hold their hands and walk can't get ahead.
Those who move around can't go far.
This is why the wise judge the course of the nation by how they behave.
No matter how far they move, they can't get there yet.
Thus they shrink from the activities.
Now, the activities lead, and people follow.
Yet they both are passing thoughts.
Although they both are disconsolate,
They both are indeed in order.
It is precisely because they understand this that they can remain in the middle.
This is why the truly wise remain independent, since they can bring it about that their actions become natural.

The man who gives birth to the world is inadequate; he who has the world in his arms is flawed. The world is a treasure that must be treasured, not shorn. If a person wishes to hold it, he will meet with failure; if he wishes to be the shepherd, he will meet with alarm. If a person desires to rule, he will meet with disharmony; if a person wishes to enlighten, he will meet with confusion. If a person wishes to be mighty, he will meet with failure; if a person desires to be exalted, he will meet with ridicule. If a person desires to be great, he will meet with failure. Some things go forward, others follow behind; some are strong, others feeble; some are ahead, others retreating. Therefore the wise do not look for blows and ridicule.

The good man is like a harvester; he will strike on behalf of the state. He will not be able to strike on behalf of the state, but he is a bad man. The good man in pursuing his own views will meet with failure. The good man in pursuing the views of others will meet with ridicule. The good man in pursuing the views of others will meet with failure. The good man, being in harmony with all things, Sees no need to seek authority, Rather, he expects all men to submit to him. Do not rush about and seize all, to the dismay of the people. While others seem to be unsettled, all seem to be of the same mind. This is what is called 'Know-It-all behavior.'

Thoughtless violence does no harm. Violence, like ice and mud, harms everything. The ultimate outcome of violence is to do harm to others.A leader who stands for justice and equity will accomplish well.Leaders who do not force their way through chaotic places, take over things with calmness, without killing any creatures.Leaders who allow nature to function without imposing order and stability, show both humility and peace. As leaders, we should be detached from those who seek more than we can bear,

Who acts without knowledge and without folly acts harmlessly.Who acts with foolishness acts harmlessly, as ice and mud.Without acting, there is nothing that can be acted upon.Knowing the chaos in the world and functioning with calm, neither creates disorder nor allows for disorder to come into being. The good leader is a peace and quiet presence in the world, not angry nor threatening. The good leader doesn't lecture the people, not making them feel inferior. The good leader doesn't insist that people obey him.The good leader doesn't know what the masses will think of him.The good leader isn't aggressive and never resorts to violence. The people tend to fear the bad and hate the good.Being wary of the bad leads to followers who will do what they can, who willingly attack the bad and all that they see as bad. They also tend to seek to manipulate and control. The leaders who don't know this cause fear of chaos and they tend to manipulate the people with fear.People turn against the good and end up following the bad, because the good fail to serve them. This leads to followers who destroy the good and destroy the other values.Do you see how dangerously radical this is?

If you would rule the world,
You should first master the self.
You should never interfere with other people's lives
Yet when things move too fast
You can only praise 'non-action'
As before there were those who acted themselves.
I follow Tao,
Yet I dare not interfere,
So I master it.
Sometimes I act (on my own)
But sometime I hide (on my own)
And sometimes I listen to the calm (sound of the voice of Tao)
Sometimes I use force,
Sometimes I contrast myself (against)
Others act just as well as I do.
Sometimes they are ahead of me, sometimes I am behind,
Sometimes I stumble, sometimes I climb up.
I fear to show off.
I am cautious to keep myself from becoming reckless.
How many things I can do, I am busy not to do:
Hence the truly wise stay at their roots and move from one to the other.
<|endoftext|>
The best rulers do not be too busy, so they never lose touch with the people's natural rhythms.
When two actions reach their climax and come to a sudden halt,
the one without doing is praised; when one chooses a more decisive course,
the one not decisive is praised; when one gets too big for his britches
his achievements become insufficiently spectacular.
There are times when one is ahead of the other, and times when one is behind; times when one is peaceful, and times when one is contentious; times when one is powerful, and times when one is defeated; and they all must be found in harmony in the world as it is.

When one has left aside time to work on the path of the Tao, they may not be sufficient to stay on the path. They may not be able to stay on the path.
When someone aims to control or manipulate the whole world, he has not made the supreme effort to do so.
Who aims to control the world does not work, the time has come when one has to work. Who tries to act has failed, so he must be resolute.
When things differ, then they are outstanding, when differences are at rest, then they are calm, when conflict is calm, then they achieve their goal; when power is strong, then it is timeliness; when resiliency is strong,

If one seeks to become superior to all the other men in the world, one will meet with a calamity. If one advances far beyond what the other men dare do, one will stumble. If one seeks to become truly great, one will meet with the downfall of one's achievements. If one stands in silence, as in the cave of nature, then one will become agitated. If one gives directions, as a leader, one will face conflict. If one can seize the chief position, then men are bound to fall. If one desires leadership and control, men begin to rebel. Therefore, some things prosper, others suffer. Some things succeed, others fail. Some things advance, others retreat. Therefore the truly wise do not take extremes, extravagance, or delusion.

If you seek to become an impressive person like the world
I will never let you go.
To dare to defy the world, And dare to go far, is doomed.
Do things and they will fail,
And if you don't do them, The world won't dare to do it.
The sage, above all, do something and fail.
Do what you're told, fail
When you know it's not right.
The sage never regrets a mistake.

Leaders and leaders must inevitably fail.
The Wise Person abandons what he doesn't do.

To do something without using speech is called perfect silence. He who acts, does not interfere. He who is in command, does not lord over. He who progresses, does not blow him away. He who takes charge, does not flaunt himself. Those who lead, do not force them to do things.
<|endoftext|>
To contemplate the single undefined action without words is called the silent sublime action. What he who is in command does cannot overestimate. What he who is able to act does not overdo. What he who progresses does not overpower. He who is present when things happen does not announce himself. When things are in motion, he does not rush to meet them.He who is well established never returns to them.He who remains quiet is not a revelatory person.

To conduct an action without words or codes is called the deep and mysterious. He who is in charge, yet no one else can act, is also in charge of nothing, which is a mystery. As he is in charge, he does not need to anticipate what he will accomplish. He has no need to compete with others, or to attempt to dominate. If you fail to anticipate your progress, and fail to strive, your work is unfathomable.A success cannot be told.

To sit quietly and let people think is to be called absolute simplicity. One who tries to dominate the world by talking is not even able to move it. He who tries to control the world by force does it; therefore, he is no better than someone who has no will at all. Those who win a war have no one to control them; therefore, they are nothing but bullies. Those who are intelligent do not rely on their teachers. The boars and oxen cannot ride them; they do not feel the need to act in a quart-time. The people of the world are like the vessels that are ready for use and cannot be improved. Those who plot to change them for their own ends will ruin them. Those who favour themselves with success are like wolves pursuing the hares; there are those who are clear-sighted and others who are obstinate. The wise are not like this. They are content to rely on their nature and feel no personal interest.

Those who always strive to get the world And never succeed, Yet, in spite of that, TAKE them.
There was something that cannot be done by human power.
The ox and mule cannot roll over them.
They do not need to act, just stand still.
The people of the world Cannot be rolled over.
Man cannot be made to roll over the world.
He who tries to do so ruins the things.
He who tries to control them Is always in the way.
They who trust themselves are too trusting.
He who boasts of his achievements is self-important.
Those who use their power on the world Are dangerous indeed, for even if they succeed, There are the spoils to be taken.

Heaven's laws are such, and they can never be reformed. The good things, as you see, cannot be improved upon; The bad things, as you see, cannot be improved upon. So it is with men: The good get through the bad; The bad have through the good. He who doesn't trust himself is a fool.

Those who strive to dominate all things by force of arms - sooner or later fail. It is the natural state of the Laws of Nature. Do not attempt to change anything, nor your work fail. You cannot know whether to live on Earth

The attainment of the great truth is not by direct action and thus comes to no purpose. Therefore, those who practice the Way do not act. Those who desire the world do not cling to it. Those who exalt the world do not rule it. Thus, Heaven and Earth do not make the great (the world) and ruler the great (the Way). To become great, one must be ruler. To take precedence over the world, one must be precedence. Those who have forced themselves on the world tend to be bottom feeders. Those who assert themselves on the world tend to justify themselves. Those who use the world to justify themselves tend to break. The Way, being imperfect, is imperfect to those who act upon it. The world is one, but one is not the world.
<|endoftext|>
The attainment of the Great Truth is but the following thought -
"To practise the Way is to act upon Earth";
The person who loves the world,
but does not desire it,
will not be long influenced by Earth,
The person who does not love the world,
but wants to rule it,
will not be long influenced by Heaven,
The person who abides by Heaven,
will not be long influenced by Earth.
If one is ruled by the universe, Earth will be the base for ruling the universe;
If one disregards the universe, Earth will be the base for ruling the universe;
If one rules the universe through the Earth,
Earth will be the base for ruling the universe.
Thus, he who knows not the cosmos,
and does not desire the world,
cannot become superior to the universe;

Only the wise rule by knowing the real value of energies of the four directions.
The great wisdom is made plain and simple.
It has no flowery, flashy flair or rags-of-thorns design.
It is simple and direct and yet without spilling anything.
It never flaunts itself.
It always helps everyone find his natural place within.
The wise rule as if from the real center.
It is calm and like a spring river.
The sage knows her place.
Her kindness is total.
Only she helps the unruly chaotic energy grow into wholesome energy.
The sage knows the natural.
Her wisdom is penetrating.
It is plain and simple.
It has not extra-brief expressions, complicated words or glossing over words.
She knows what is important.
Only she can make a point.
She is tolerant of the imperfect.
She is tolerant of the bizarre and out-of-place.
She knows when the strong man has lost his position and his high command.
And so she goes one step ahead.

The Tao is the beginning of Heaven and Earth.
It becomes the constant source of heaven and earth.
Without it, Heaven and Earth would not exist.
Therefore, the wise person knows how to use it, so it is free from desire.
He knows how to use it to achieve his ends, so it is free from mistakes.
He knows how to use it so that it is not self-important,
so it is not obstructed by other interests.
He is in agreement with the nature of affairs.
All things are all equal,
so the intelligent man gets rid of the mean, the mean of his actions,
and recognizes his higher nature.
He benefits people.
He does not abuse others.
For he does not delight in grandiose things.
The intelligent man aims at a commonality of purposes,
and not to try to be first.
Thus he is able to act according to his destiny.
<|endoftext|>
What started from the Tao takes on form in accord with nature;
It is the ultimate origin of all things.
It is the source of heaven and earth.
Without it, the sky would collapse, and Earth would perish.
Thus the Sage knows how to use it, so he is free of desire.
He knows how to use it, so he is free of want.
He also knows how to use it, so he is free of pride.
So

When Heaven-above is rejected, people in front of it will know the truth;
When the people in front of it lose the truth, then people behind it will also lose the truth.
When the Truth is destroyed, people say, "This is what I mean by Truth";
When the Truth is lost, people say, "This is what I mean by Discontinuity";
When the Discontinuity is destroyed, people say, "This is what I mean by Change";
When change is destroyed, people say, "This is what I mean by Decay";
Therefore, it is never to keep the Great Law.

When great kings hear that there is a place beyond Heaven, they are naturally astonished,
And are moved by love for the world beyond Heaven.
When the world beyond Heaven dies and people say: It is natural, then,
Then, the world of words will also be destroyed.
When there is no left-behindness, then, there will be no necessity to think of other things that may exist.
When there are no doubts, then there will be no need to be cautious.
When the kingdom is kept in harmony with the Tao,
Its walls can not be taken.
Therefore, great rulers, when they think of the outer world,
But do not thereby regard Heaven-above,
And when they know that Heaven-above is beyond the bounds of walls
And is, therefore, outside the word 'wall',
Can only say that Heaven-above stands above.

When the fear that is the natural result of being merely confused and confused makes man abandon it, then the enlightened king will be able to say:

The Spirit is one Thing and the body is another.
They will be differently, but the same.

The oneness of the highest oneness is not what it once was.
If it were not, then its nature wouldn't exist.
If it were not existing, how could you tamper with its existence?
Lao tzu says,
The oneness of 'the oneness' is beyond model.
If you tamper with this Being,
you'll never achieve your goal.
If you try to control it, you'll only change it.
If you try to make it conform to what you like,
you'll only attract more people.
Therefore, the oneness of the universe is incomplete,
and if you tamper with this Being, you're losing everything you've done.
If you tamper with the oneness of the universe, you'll lose your space.
You will gain what you've lost,
because you're a reduction of the universe.
The sage is ever on the side of totality.
To be on the side of the oneness is to be simple,
to be flexible,
to be free from desire,
to be a reduction of the universe.
<|endoftext|>
The oneness of heaven and earth
Is not something to be viewed as
And
If it were not for that,
What then could we do to it?
If it were not for this
We could treat it
As the home for all things
And so it could stay in this state.
Hence, it is said to live (be given existence)
Yet it is not dwelling itself.
If we can give it dwelling,
Is it not [some other] world?
So that we treat it as such.
That is how the action of this (thing) takes
The first step toward the fulfilment.

Whenever it loses its shape, it returns to its original being. When a thing is in strength, it is in weakness. When it is in weakness, it is in strength. The people in general adhere to the Kosmos, and make use of it with sincerity. Heaven is not turned into Earth, is not the Kosmos, but the nature of Heaven is to govern Earth with sincerity. In times of sickness, those who are unwell cannot exist, thus Heaven cannot be turned into Earth. Therefore, when Earth is turned into Heaven, it is turning back to the Kosmos of Heaven. Earth in turn is turning back to Heaven. Therefore Heaven is not turned into Earth, and when it is turned into Heaven, it is reversion. If the people are divided into parts, the Kosmos is not functioning, being turned back to the Kosmos of Heaven. When Earth is turned into heaven, it is turning back to the Kosmos of heaven. Heaven is not turning into Earth, and when Earth is turned into heaven, it is turning back to the Kosmos of Heaven.

How can you destroy something from within?
Your aim is to control a spirit in nature.
It is not to be controlled by your own human methods.
For your methods do not clarify what is natural,
What it is like to exist as a spirit.
Using these you will cause nothing to separate from what is natural.
It is in this that heaven and earth are prepared for the spirit of the Tao.
When Nature ceases to act in order to stir up discord, then it gives birth to the Tao.
When the Tao is at rest, it comes into being.
After things come into being, they do not perish, for they do not age.

When you destroy something from within, it will not be able to gain you.If you seek to control the spirit of a person, you will not succeed. If you try to master the natural, only result in dysfunction. If you can master the natural, then you will master the soul of the person. If you can master the soul of the person, then you will be at peace with yourself. If you cherish life you will not seek out things. If you understand the purpose of life, and how your self can fulfill its purpose, you will have peace and serenity in all things. If you never lose sight of the purpose of your life, you will always be in harmony with all things. If you cannot control the spirit of the spirit, you will be overwhelmed. If you are not foolish, then you will know where your true self lies.<|endoftext|>

What happens to the first act of beginning of the universe, the leader of Tao? It's not natural. A sovereign doesn't start with the opening ceremony. People in charge go ahead of themselves.
Let a leader conduct their task by disinterestedness.
Let's say that you invite your loyalist in the tent;
your loyalist stays at home and brings something to serve.
I'm referring to the first great man's job. Do your job like this:
You go out to negotiate a contract with the Sage,
with your people, with their forces, with their land.
Then make it work.
That's the beginning of your daily service.
What do you call it? The Master General?
<|endoftext|>
Should you wish to be the leader of the empire, a positive man of action will serve as the doorkeeper. A sage is like a teacher, he is not really 'it' - but 'him' and his work is efficient. However the sage does not show off himself or praise himself. A good politician has no ego, is not arrogant. He is not needy. A good leader is concerned about the organisation of the whole people rather than himself. He is concerned about keeping the people safe rather than himself. A leader's problems are not problems of his mind, for there are no egos in such problems. A leader's job is to help the people by doing good things, but never being selfish. He does not claim himself. The earth is his playground, not his dwelling. The sage is for all, not a person.

In its activity with great power, there is a possibility of failure. This possibility is known as chaos.
To avoid chaos, is like preparing a feast with lumps of earth. If you have some, it is better to leave them.
To avoid excess, is like practicing sports with muscles. If you have many, you should let them alone.
To avoid fantasy, is like serving a great banquet. If you have great riches, you should take care that you do not make them your main focus.
In the world, there are many subtle things, and I do not know their source.

The great powers are all over us.
They are abstractions and shadows.
Uncovered they are wonderful;
The shadow is not breathtaking.
In holding onto them,
we could not fail.
Between man and beast,
they beckon and beckon;
Between heaven and earth,
they renew themselves;
Between spiritual and material,
they form;
Between spirit and matter,
they merge;
Between harmony and chaos,
they spill.
The constant must always be boundless.
In humanity we develop a vital tension.
It is necessary to shine with great acts of the spirit,
in harmony with the multitudes.
Between the spiritual and the material,
we're on the one side or the other;
in the service of extremes, we're on the other side;
in relation to the empire,
we're on the same side;
in the world,
we're on the side of the most high.
Hence, when the greatness of Tao is expressed,
its essence is hidden within the latent essence,
remaining ever subtle and subtle,
silent and ever kind.
Hence, when we master the sacred operations of the great
We follow its essence,
The body can never lose its subtle power.
Because the great powers are subtle and subtle,
Their essence cannot be lost.
As such, they never fail; they never cease.
When human weakness is crushed
The natural strength is therefore required.
That is why:
When deep insight is expressed,
Its true essence always remains hidden.
Because it has the potential of the greatest,
This hidden potential cannot be turned away from the great.

How many rules and regulations there are in the world! How many rules and regulations interfere with the natural development of men, for how long must one strive to control men in the face of these? For it is not for the purpose of coercement, but for the advantage of self-preservation, and this is the least possible order for humanity.
If there were no law or regulation, the men of Tao would be perfect in themselves, and the natural process would continue. Therefore the Sage does not interfere with others, and so he does not turn others against himself. He does not rush to interfere in the affairs of others, because he knows that he cannot interfere in people's affairs; and so he has no use for those affairs.
His task is to teach others to act according to their own nature, to govern by their own power, and so he gives them the means of establishing the Tao.
All the laws and regulations are unsavory, and therefore he abandons them, for they are not efficacious at all, but they try to block the way to enlightenment.
Thus the Sage is always indifferent to his own merit or virtue; he is always indifferent to his own achievements, and so he has no use for them.
He has no ambition, because he gives his life for the world.
Those who aim at self-mastery wish not to compete with anyone else; they wish not to compete with the world, for this is not the purpose of rivalry.
[List of ways in which to curb passions and restrain physical ailments]
Restrain mental passions, and stop the excessive thought,
And cut down the passions so that the vital force can be released.
Stop habits of sensuality and lust;
Stop fad activities, so that man's whole being can be awakened
In making the world self-authenticating,
And not living for his own personal needs.
Just because one is undisturbed and uninvolved,
He has no need for contention or rivalry.
If he considers the resources of the world
Of no importance and seeks no profit,
He may think he is saving the world,
But only if he acts to bring the world out of the state of desire

Do not strive with the great yet it is in your power to accomplish great things.
The greatest empire does not possess weapons, so if the great does not have weapons, he is not powerful enough.
If you are hard-headed and stubborn, you may stumble in the next step.
If you are energetic and blustering, you will stumble in your next step.
To move the world and enforce peace is a sacred duty.
If you are stubborn and uncouth, you will not master the world.
He who is determined and contrives will not control the world.
Therefore, whoever acts great, fails;
And whoever acts noble fails.
The leader who has that is truly great.
<|endoftext|>
It is said:
The Tao is Ever present; it is always there.
To know it is to be able to do things, and to understand how it works.
It has a mind and a heart, too.
So it cannot be felt with the physical body.
Yet what it has is like a reservoir, which can be used.
An army can't go on forever.
They can only be used in appropriate ways.
A heavy tool cannot be used forever.
Therefore, those who know the Tao live and breathe.
That is how they can become great.
And because they know this, they are always in balance.
The greater the balance, the more light and true knowledge there is.

What is called the Tao is omnipresent.
It is above.
It is in motion.
It penetrates all that exists.
It may be said to be omnipresent,
and yet what it penetrates is different from what it acts.
In its behaviour it is not conscious.
It is beyond thinking and acting.
And in the multiverse the effects of this act can never exhaust.
Great kings can exercise only their lives power.
A ruler who abides by the Tao is different.
The ruler abides by the Tao.
The king serves the Way and acts according to the Way.
It is the ability to act that ensures the kingdom's ability.
The ability to act is the value.
Therefore, the lesser the ability, the more the ability is superfluous.

What is high is Heaven.
What is high is the Earth.
What is high is all other matters.
What is all other matters are sustenance for Heaven.
Whoever takes this to himself will naturally remain at rest.
Whoever takes it to the world will naturally become unstable.
Either way, it is unstable.
He who has nothing is free.
He who has everything is bound to maintain it.
Therefore he will never get rid of what is quite good.
He who gets rid of it finds his needs are exhausted.
He who has what he wants is impotent.
If you can't, what is still more not enough, is what's behind you.
That is the doorway of the one who is well known.

Those with strong will will not be defeated by sages. Those with narrow will will not be defeated by rulers. Those with strong will will be resented by rulers, those with weak will be hated by rulers,
Those who are resented by the other will have no choice but to be resented by the one resented by the one hated by the other.
Why should they be hated by other people?
Because their resistance of the sages is mutual

One thing is all that is, and that's the universe.
One thing is not, and it exists.
If you take that to be the essence of being, then the universe can be described. If it's not described, that's what it's like.
<|endoftext|>
The Tao is entirely one. Everything else is a piece of matter. You can't get rid of this.
<|endoftext|>
The Tao is infinite, but is nothing in comparison to what we call "this." Everything else is worthless. You can't get rid of it.
<|endoftext|>
The emptiness is the origin of the world. It is the condition of all existence. Even though you deny it, the principle of the universe exists.
<|endoftext|>
The natural world is infinite, yet even it cannot act as ruler of everything. All things are more or less small as things create their ways from it.
<|endoftext|>
The Tao (or Way) is both one and non-Tao.And yet every living thing under heaven (as well as every valley and bush) knows by experience how great the Tao is, and in every valley and bush. And yet there is nothing like it in the world.Every valley and bush recognizes the reality of the Tao, and yet there are few things which can manage it as well as it goes on.
<|endoftext|>
One who values Tao-One is one with the universe. Those who do not value it, are like all things that are: small, dead, benumbed, and dying. But the universe (Tao) can have nothing to do with the small (beyond the able to be reduced to something) like that (in the universe), And one can have everything to do with it like that.
<|endoftext|>
The Way (tao) cannot be described. It cannot be achieved. All things are made up of parts, and by these we describe things. All things are born from parts, and by these we describe their development.By the so-called extreme, I would also describe their relative weakness. All living things are born from the instinctive, simple life.By the so-called extreme, I would also describe their relative weakness. All living things are born from the intelligence,

The best way to grow, is to stop. The ultimate way to grow, is not to work. The truest way to grow, is to not work.
The reason it works is because it doesn't compete.
Because it doesn't compete, it's the perfect stew for the world.
<|endoftext|>
The highest (age) thing (su) is not to age
It is eternal, and changes of nothingness (k'ang) is eternal.
And to say it is not to age is to make a lie
Of nothingness is to endure forever.
Therefore, "to say it is not to age is to make a lie
Of nothingness is to endure forever".
But this is the best way to describe: to not change; to not change; to put no limits to one's actions; this is to follow the way of nature; this is to be unforced obedience; this is to be simple, and hence to be free of selfishness; this is to be in accord with the natural way; this is to be impartial; this is to be mild, and hence to be impartial; this is to be equitable, and hence to be equitable; this is to be impartial; this is to be eternal, and hence to be unerring, and therefore to be eternal,
To seek for something else (t'ung), and be something else, is to be lost in things.
Therefore, the taoists say: This is the best way; this is the way of nature; this is the way of the Tao, this is not seeking for anything else; this is what is unchanging; this is the reward of oneself.

So the taoist teaches the student to be subtle in choosing the path that works for them.
Appropriately so. The Taoist gives no orders; she simply teaches
The student how to follow the Way.
Appropriately so, I have come up with a novel on the Tao,
For by me, you can learn anything
Where others speak by showing how,
And you can follow it as you see fit.
Thus I am simply a conduit for the Way
And am able to impart wisdom
The Way is to my mind, as a book that I wrote in its turn
And the Tao to the mind of anyone who is receptive
But just because the Tao does not issue from me,
You can tell by its effect that I am doing a job
That I have done my job
Appropriately so,
Indeed, the Way of the taoist
Is a subtle but sure guide
To the student's behaviour
And always a true way of life.
The Way is like a channel through which everything flows
And the way that flows is simply how everything works
For without it, there is no way
What's the use of going after what you see
Isn't a path that leads nowhere?
So the Taoist says:
This path isn't a road for me
And I don't need one to guide
No need to call myself 'The Way'
No need to grab hold of my own life
So sit back and breathe
And you'll find your Tao here.
Way, the Way is easy
A natural way
The way that is even
A no-thing
All-pervasive
A gentle breeze
Of simplicity
For a portal
To all you see
And a doorway
All-pervasive
A gentle breeze
Of the Tao
All-pervasive
To all you hear
And a doorway
Always
A gentle breeze
Of what goes on inside
A gateway to nothing
A path I picked
And
The Way that follows
Came to me
And so, my Way
I'm here
Always
The way of the Tao
Is a natural way
Though not the beginning of anything
It's the Way

Sometimes you'll be successful and you'll also have to fail
Some things will work and some things won't
Some ideas will be beautiful and some ideas will be ugly
Other things may be good and bad, good or bad
And so it is that the Taoist says
These things can happen, and they won't end
Others are ahead of the taoist
Sometimes he's ahead of them
Sometimes they are behind them
He stays ahead of them
He takes no pride in what he does
Others will make the same mistakes he made

Those who know the path of the Tao should not be frightened of death. For where life is concerned, nothing cannot be dealt with. For I have had experience that those who move without showing off can be the true rulers. For example, when a thing is new it cannot be thought of as being sharp; when it is at rest it cannot be regarded as having a strong impulse. If it are moved with a violent wind, it can never be set on fire. For I have seen that certain new things cannot be molded; things that are not at rest cannot be shaped. For I have observed that certain things that are very beautiful can not be molded; things that are at rest cannot be shaped. For I have observed that certain things that are very ugly can not be molded; things that are at rest cannot be shaped. For even the ultimate nature is a building that cannot be shaped. And so it is that those who are at one with the Tao do not disturb the roots, but will finish, unharmed, in that most natural state.
<|endoftext|>
Those who know the Tao's true nature, do not fear death. Wherever there is life, there is nothing that can deal with. For I know that such is the way life is among living things: some move more quickly than others; some are happier than others; some are more beautiful than others; some are strong than others; and some are older than others. If you want to give way to Tao, you have to understand the single source of Tao. It's the way of the Tao, and you don't have to see it. Why should you see it? Everything in the world exists as a field. Everything takes its course according to how it's shaped by natural principles. Everything is on the move, without intent, and yet the world is as it is, untrammelled and free of fear. This is how I regard the Way: the path of peace and harmony. How is it? It is the simplicity of the Way.
<|endoftext|>
If one wants to become like Tao, he must know the eternal presence of Tao. To know this presence is to know the Eternal Presence. When one knows the Eternal Presence, one is free from fear.By knowing the Eternal Presence, one will be able to move freely in the world. This is called the noblest act in the world.People of the world will court Tao like never before. Thus, there is nothing in the world that cannot be made to conform to Tao.Whoever follows Tao never regards himself as bad, and yet everyone fears him.If this were not so, everything in the world would have to conform to Tao.Thus, it is the self-interest of Tao.The world is free from evil. This is not possible without the self-interest of Tao.If one forgets the self-interest of Tao, therefore one can only succumb to the entropic power of the entropic power of the Entire Tao.
<|endoftext|>
He who wants to return to the virtue of simplicity must know the ultimate virtue of the universe. The ultimate virtue is the realm of the Eternal and hence one is always at one with the Eternal. This duality exists everywhere and there is no escape from it.Therefore it is the highest virtue and at the same time the only virtue.Being completely centered in this duality, one can see that there is no alternative. The ultimate virtue of the universe is the direction of the principle. As the principle happens, no one can escape it and yet

To remain calm, rather than be busy, is good advice.
To be amused, rather than be restless, is good advice.
To be strong, rather than be weak, is good advice.
To let go of something that needs more, rather than holding on to something that needs more, is good advice.
To change when you don't have to, rather than think that you do, is good advice.
To be gentle, rather than harsh, is good advice.
To be learned, rather than flippant, is good advice.
To remember that something occurs to you because you are born of the universe, rather than being remembered for your parents' personal qualities is good advice.

Abandon the good! After good things there will be evil things. After good things, what is it that makes them so? When anything rises above what is below it turns stiff. Everything in the world is strong. I do not dwell too much on things. By not dwelling too much on things I am free. The Way depends on its own power, not on the people's influence. For all things will come to the Way. All things are possible and I am not in the least deficient in favour. I am the same as Nature. I am small in the world, but as it chooses I go a step ahead of everything. I work for the people without ambition. To me every thing comes from above. For I like not to be always at the lowest place. I like to have as little as possible, for if I have more I must provide. If people want too much, they must have as little as possible. I am small, for I want to live as Nature lives. I am at the bottom; I dwell far below the people. If I do not push things I shall fall down.

Give up the good and bad things will soon appear.
Inadequately give up the good and bad things there is but danger.
Inadequately give up the good and bad things,
What is the reason why there are bad things

There is something that forces things to the left and force things to the right.
The universe is soft and makes all things go out of reach.
I am not attached to my own body and does not fear being hurt.
I am the same with the universe as it is forced to turn to the left.
I prefer the world to be ruled by others and do not interfere.
If people begin to act unselfishly,
They would only bring about harm.
Should I want to be the same with the universe as it is forced to turn to the left,
I would prefer to act with reluctance.
There are that some things, when something is left out, are raised.
There are that some things, when something is raised, are set back.
The good and the bad have to do with what causes them.

The things around are molded by you, but you are never responsible. The things you hold are molded by you, but you are never responsible. The things that you hold and reach are molded by you, but you are never responsible. In order to accomplish your goal you must exert your will;and to reach the goal you must remain patient. These two are inseparable and bring about different results.Holding things will mold them;inward force will keep them in balance.Appropriately describing situations is both praiseworthy and undesirable. What you want to achieve and where you want to go is self-evident.Know when to let go, and you'll avoid disaster.

The shape of all things depends on your acts. And you do not cause them to shape themselves. The shape of all things depends on your actions, and you do not cause them to shape themselves. The matter is shaped, and then there is decay. The thing is shaped, and then there is growth. When matter is centered, and when force is removed, there is sufficiency. What we make is therefore not simple,And what we take is therefore not stifled. For the simple is the most powerful forceOf all and brings change to all that follows. Therefore, the wise man does not frame the world,And does not act its shape. He does not abolish virtue,But for that only withdraws from evil.In the shape of things there is change,And in taking things there is regression. When we describe things, we are forced to describe; And when we act, we are forced to act.

The Way does not require the doing of action. This does not force the Way's use.The Way is Direction, but Direction does not require action. The Way is Direction, and Direction never requires action.Things are Directioned, then: they grow. The Direction of Direction is to be progressive, then: strength is lost. The Direction of Direction is to develop, then: your strength returns. When the Direction is absent, there is Direction. The shape of things, Direction and Direction will have differing degrees of existence. For they are shaped by what they are: It is Direction that shapes things, and Direction that loses its shape.Where Direction will be is where it will be.People are shaped by the Direction.People are shaped by what they are shaped by.

He who benefits others by being generous becomes prosperous; he who benefits others by being inhumane becomes hostile. He who benefits others by being forceful becomes expansive. He who benefits others by being radical becomes extreme.
He who benefits others by taking advantage is deserving of blame.
The extreme causes the excessive; expansive causes the timidity. The timidity leads to exhaustion; expansion causes scarcity. The more scarcity the more they use. The more they possess, the more they lose. With impatience and generosity, there is no room for difference.
<|endoftext|>
Prefer cutting to your neighbor to increase your wealth?
Everyone benefits greatly from receiving generous gifts.
Do you love serving others by being selfish?
Let's say that you join the army, by following your inner nature:
You will be a merit to the army, not like a bellowed hunting dog or a scarred symbol.
If you desire to be a mighty warrior, you should let your instinct override your will.
No matter how loyal or loyal you are, if you think of self in the eyes of other, you will be rejected.
If you think only of your own desire, you will be rejected.
You are like a gourd that needs to be hushed.
You are like a sacrifice that will soon perish.
If you would be like a sacrificial lamb, you must wash yourself before the sacrificial feast.
A sacrificial lamb's nature is to mourn and wail after its death.
A warrior, or one who strives to be a warrior, will be insufficient to fulfill the role of the sacrificial lamb.
Rather than mourning, you should be the one mourning, too.
If you live selfishly, your true self will be rejected.
The more you exalt yourself, the more you are despised.
Being selfless, you will not take pride in yourself.
The more self-centered you are, the more self-dishoned you become.
You are selfless as you lose the ability to feel self.
Reality is a dream. Everything is transient.
Feel how the world really is by looking at yourself.

One who assumes a leadership position should be very careful, though, to observe that he does not to assume a command. He who has a partner in the kingdom, if his partners become restless or quarrelsome, they may act from the bottom up by going in front. To take charge in one's own affairs, by means of rites, reverential ceremony, the masses will respond by being quiet, quiet, and still.
<|endoftext|>
One who has a leader who acts like an ordinary person will be a failure. Those who act like this, should in times of peace place their hands on their hearts and watch them not to move and say. The people will be gathered in a circle at the place where a leader sits, and remain still, and not react to what is said by a leader, their self-same. To be at peace, and to watch noone emerge; to watch to not be like to live at the place where a leader sits. To reside in the realm of the Spirit, and to see that the Tao stays with you always, as it has always stayed with me.

Knowing the limits of a good leader's use of the armament, he must also know the limits of a good friend's use of the armament, but the armament should be less than the friend. A man who thinks it amiss to rely on arms for all under Heaven, who has great authority and a lot of credibility, becomes an idiot once he starts interfering with other men's ordinary affairs. When his arms are full he is exasperated. He has a low tolerance of worldly situations, and only indulges in a go at objects when he feels he must. When he has things in hand, he shows his utility, but is not content, and when he has enough he becomes depressed. When he puts his value on being the good leader, and insists on being without "highs," he is hostile to his own, self-interest and will of a leader. If a leader is possessed of even a little trust of the people, they all will become more and more friendly with him.

When great Tao is achieved, there is one who is not distinguished from it. He never abandons his (the state's) firm stance and by doing so becomes at peace. The world that is made by Tao never goes to extremes. It is always at ease, and it does not see what it makes or what it loses. However, although it can boast that it is "not going to extremes," it should not begin to stretch its arms beyond it. It should make clear the limits of its limits. Thus it will return to its original state, returning to the primal state.

Not acting will cause one to fail.
There are times when to put one's hand to one's mouth,

Those who use it by the will Are likely to have their will not on earth; Nor can they achieve their will by it. But the Manifestation of the Tao (the Way) Is like a guest -- It cannot be accepted. Things that come within reach May slip through their fingers, And disappear into nothingness. Those who rely on it do not do that: They are against the will of their own nature. But those who rule by means of it Are likely to be ill-placed, Though they possess the power of life and death. Those who rely on the Tao Are those who resort to right relationships, Those who rely on their Tao Are those who want to win, And those who rely on their Tao Are those who contend with themselves, And those who are leaching of their way And who become vicious,And then the lieutenant of the house is inexact; And those who are fit for action Will possess the ability to fail, But so it is with the efforts of the practitioner. Some are made to stand for Unity, Some are made to follow one. Some stand by Unity, Some follow one. Some are left behind, And some are left behind alone; And some are pushed in front; Some are unfavorably given, And some are forced to receive. Thus,

The Tao is yet hidden and unseen
When not seen by the senses, it acts as the conductor of all things.
Only the way can be compared to Nature.
Nature's shape and shape are beyond compare.
Nature in its natural state cannot be compared to its shape and form.
Nature is in its natural state without distinction
By contrast, the human mind gives birth to distinctions.
Human mind creates distinctions to divide and separate
People in their oneness are uniting with all things.
People in their oneness develop with all things and preserve them.
People in their oneness are supreme.
People in their oneness are ruled by the natural law.
People in their oneness are good in comparison with those people of the human mind.
Nature is unknowable and it is unknown

Only if Heaven and Earth is forced to serve as instruments for rulers are they open to learning. Using tools without ownership is like robbing a house: The house must be returned.
Use the only instruments you have, do not possess them.
(When) you possess them, you gain something.
Sometimes you do things well, sometimes you do things badly.
Sometimes things are done correctly, sometimes things are not.
Do not try to master the things that happen.
While you master the events, you also master your own mind.
<|endoftext|>
Who will turn heaven and earth to fulfill their purpose in the world? This is the useful instrument that the ruler brings to him for use, though it may not be his own instrument. Who makes it, therefore, should not have it. He who has it should make it the master of nothing. When everything comes into being, it may fail to reproduce; at times it will breathe too gently; at other times it may breathe too hard; at other times it may be in want of vigour; at other times it may become stubbornly established; at other times it may be ill-founded; at other times it may be cursed. The sages avoid the use of instruments of this kind, and so preserve their actions.
<|endoftext|>
If we take the world to serve as instruments for governing,Is there anyone there is who can guide them?If we want to be the Masters of the world,Is there anyone who can do this?Only when we have mastered the myriad things,Can we be masters of the world.
<|endoftext|>
There is indeed a way in which Heaven and Earth can serve as instruments for government,And of course, anyone who practices this way is never without. Whoever possesses it, though it be the master of others,Does not always possess it.When we have affairs happening, they happen to be going well. When we have affairs failing, they fail to come out.Where the deeds are doing, it would be arrogant to think that they are masterless. So the Sage avoids 'the instrument of the ruler.'

At one time, kings thought they had all under heaven. All too soon they realize it has been emptied of its potency and has been parcelled out. It is hardly worth mentioning that this parcelling off must take place and not by the application of force or weapons. What is meant is to draw up the spirit of heaven. This being destroyed, it comes to life again. It is not worth mentioning that this new life must take place. It is not worth mentioning that this should take place. If it does not do so, it must be removed. How much cleverness can be shown; how much ingenuity is done! Even so, he who perceives that something is done and nothing remains ought to hold to the shadow and not expose himself to the bright light.

The leader who causes change to happen, he who creates the movement. He who accomplishes what he seeks, he who lets go. When an act of harmony is produced, and still the body is no longer possessed by energy and passions, it is still natural that that which was still receives energy and passions. When the old holds that which is natural, and preserves that which is natural, the latter receives energy and passions. When the new is in possession of such energy and passions, it possesses them. This is the nature of change. All who attend to this matter call it a dissolution of nature. They call it a series of disturbances. This is the reason why they call this matter confusion. To him who attends to this matter calls it change that cannot be comprehended. Thus they assert, "If you examine it you cannot comprehend it". That is why they say, "If you observe the way it is not comprehended". He who realizes the change, he who knows the way, both of them become one. This unity, which has been established, will not disappear, nor decay.

All leaders of the world try to act with violence. How they blow up.How they turn into angels. The one, stay, and the other, blow up.When you blow up you get stronger and healthier. When you are strong, you are more in touch with your physical reality. When you are in touch with your physical reality, you can transform your world.Who has no loss of energy,Who has no expansion of emotional matters,Who has no weakening of his energy,The owner of the UniverseWho has no loss

Doing good is not enough. Therefore, the Leader does good. Doing not good, the subordinates fail. Doing great, they lose. Doing well, they rest. When you rely on the Earth, you would be defeated. When you rely on Heaven, you would be destroyed. Therefore, you need to act like a person. Have the preoccupations and accomplishments and things will come out properly. If your actions are aloof, you lose. If your actions are focused, you lose. If you rely on some natural force, you lose. If you depend on outer things, you lose. Therefore, the Ten Thousand Things govern themselves and do not interfere with people's activities.
<|endoftext|>
The King does not use force against the people, but when he cannot use it,the people will learn to use it.The strong do not use force, but when they can no longer use it, the people will lose their strength. When the wise lead without strategy, they lose their strategy. When the natural order is hidden in action, but enforced with force, the people will collapse. If you would become a thing, you would not become a thing. If you would become a thing, you would not become a thing. You cannot desire success. You cannot desire to do well. You cannot desire to win.If you cannot control your desires, you will not control your body.If you cannot control your actions, you will not control your actions. If you cannot control your desires, you will not control your desires. Therefore, the Sage does not carry himself so stubbornly as to see the people transform themselves into implements for himself.

Conduct is not the substitute for Reason. Therefore, the Wise Person observes none of the conventional refinements and possesses no substitute. The Wise Person holds to the capacity of Reason and lets all things grow but that which through Nature is against Nature. The Naturalist follows Nature's way, yet always not following that way.His tools work, but in spite of that nature of their own accord. He forgets the cunning of his implements, yet acts with them. But he observes all things in their natural simplicity and implements. The things follow Nature's way but Nature rejects it.He adheres to this simplicity and adapts, but Nature does not conform to him, and asks, "How?"The Intelligent people must become tools for the world and do not devote themselves to a higher purpose

The sage of old knew he was empty vessels.
He possessed things but not nature.
The next he made himself.
Not knowing what he made, he became it.
Yet it is on that basis that he is inexhaustible.
He makes things; what else can he do with them?
Well, at last he stops.
And what is left? Nothing.
When others go forward and they lag behind,
Then he tries to slow them down.
When others push and pull and try to dominate him,
Then he tries to let them go.
When others are intent and quick to do what they want,
He is quick to push them back.
Lagging behind, he is intent on countering that which is ahead.
What does he think of when others are selfish?
When others are hard to control, he is exacting.
How self-conscious is he of all this?! He cannot control it.

The ancient sages knew the usefulness of storage
and they used their mere existence
for the fulfillment of their wants.
Truly, they were the tools of the world
that the world despised.
They had ambitions, and therefore they
behaved.
They had desires and yet no contentment.
They had selves
and yet they were despised.
They had achievements and yet they were
truly forgotten.
When others act
and when others lead
and when others treat
them like lumps of material
they roll their eyes and scoff.
Losing their selves
they began to resemble their belongings.
The brokenness of self becomes
a source of renewal.

if he sees Tao in any way,

unless the loss of his sight endures,
or he is forced to remain out of sight,
he will depart and return.
The Tao Te renter never lets go of Tao,
nor does he let go of what he calls "power";
to him power is one thing, and Tao is a part of him.
If Tao renter ever loses sight of Tao,
he will see that Tao alone makes him visible.
If he loses sight of Tao,
He sees that it is the great Tao that makes him real.
What is great Tao does not see.
Can anything else be called what is great?

In the development of the Laws of Nature, we find even subtle subtleties. One can only describe their sound by descriptions. In the development of the Laws of Nature, one cannot follow the developments of what is subtle. One can only describe their sound by description. Within the realm of the Laws of Nature, there are few things that are not fruitful. As for growth, this is the reason why heaven and earth cannot fulfill their tasks. As for sustenance, Heaven and earth can only fulfill their task by deviating from sustenance. Thus, those who are identified with the Pure Way reject this detritus; reject this fruit. By virtue of this rejection of fruit, I can describe the Heavenly Laws very clearly.
<|endoftext|>
The subtle Law of Heaven and Earth is mysterious, yet there is nothing that you can handle that is not tranquil, and a serious danger lurks on every side. The way of Heaven and Earth is all-embracing, a power that never asks for any favors, nor does it seem like it wants to. The use of things does not justify anything. Those who can ignore this have no use. Those who can be influenced by things have no use. The Supreme Way has no "lets-go" or "go-anywhere" style. It has plenty of stopping places, and plenty of "yes."
<|endoftext|>
The mystical, mysterious Reason of Heaven and Earth!
There is nothing in the world that I cannot handle that cannot be restrained.
Things are produced, but from what? I do not know.
We have a perennial "mingle."
From everlasting, yes;
From everlasting, I do not know.
From everlasting, I know;
From everlasting, I cannot avoid!
From everlasting, I know;
From everlasting, I know not!
That is why Heaven and Earth cannot manfully employ their powers.
Though they may desire them, They are beyond them.
Inasmuch as I do not like to stop,
I have in good conscience no use for mingle.
(Having no use for mingle, I therefore confess myself Non-resisting.)
Myresistance may be allowed, But it cannot be my prime. I therefore renounce it.
How I differ from others! In my own original possession, I am thoroughly Simplified; My use of them shall be no more of a mystery.

When kingship becomes the rule, each king becomes lord of the world.
Yet there are two of them. One will master the world in time of peace and recieve honors at the right time.
The second will be master of the world in times of war, and be held prisoner.
The one ruler who can master the world with peace is the one that stays in time of peace.
The other is master of the world at the right time.
In these two rulers, there will be differences. The ruler who rules in peace prevails.
The ruler who rules in conflict prevails.
Therefore the sages avoid action and practice statesmanship. Avoid actions and strive for results. Avoid action and do not accomplish. Do not aim too high, but aim to achieve. Achieve by acting. And a failure is nothing to be feared.
<|endoftext|>
The king of a country can never stand on the throne above all.
Because it takes precedence over all, he fears it when it comes.
One who stands on the throne above all is anxious to go far, but that doesn't make him anxious.
The one who goes far, he fears, also, he falls back on.
One who falls back on, he fears also, also, he too endures.
The King should see only his kingdom's needs.
For this reason, the followers of Tao seek to keep their hearts as still as a newborn baby.
But although they are not insane, they are not as able as a baby.
It is then that the followers of Tao understand the Tao's necessity.
<|endoftext|>
One who stands on a throne in the world cannot stand on the throne above all.
Because a ruler cannot stand on a throne above all, he also fears for his empire when it comes.
One who fears for his empire when it comes also fears that his empire is captured by his enemy.
And who despairs of his empire when it comes will ultimately be defeated.
Therefore, the sage keeps his heart as still as a newborn baby.
He remains a mere child, although his mind is as active as a rhinoceros's horn.
Yet he cannot be regarded as foolish or unmindful.
He is a follower of Tao who pursues goodness and rejects evil.

Masters of Tao (Way), once in power,
They cause all the world to behave like infants.
How then? By being bent down and supporting your weight!
How then? By giving up all desire and asserting your life.
How then? By refusing to take on your responsibilities.
How then? By displaying the power of Tao.
How then? By not acting.
When no one acts, There will be no one.
When all people take action, there will be no less than four rebounds.
Those who are withdrawn and possess few titles, - I do not know what is their destiny!
Those who can accumulate and make a career, - I know not their destiny!
A wise man does no action and yet nothing remains undone.
If the things for which the Tao is known are done away with,
What is left? Do you think that Tao, by being done away, is put back in full potency?
<|endoftext|>
The master's power when he rules Tao is no practice for nature or people.
The power with which he acts naturally arises from his being in charge of everything.
Then he goes back to a natural state of quietude and then begins to act.
When he acts, he seems to be killing everything in sight.
The opposite is also true: The thing with which he works is a natural thing.
The thing he works is also natural and he is equal to nothing.
The thing he destroys is also natural and he is equal to nothing.
One who would strive for natural things and has done so fails to realize this.
He who strives for mastery and has achieved anything contends that he did his work.
The other does not agree.
The other contends: "I didn't do anything."
It is more the case that it is the one who has the mastery that argues.
But no one argues on his behalf.
He who contends against this power should recognize that this power can be overcome.

Being one with Tao is like breathing.
Tao becomes a container that nurtures everything without others and then it dies of itself.
When everything dies then it should breathe again.
Everyone will take action at one time and then it will decline.
Everyone will act and then fail.
Everyone will act and then it should be complete.
Everyone will accomplish something at one time and then it

When people are moved by reason, "Such as will" turn back again to their origins. When people are moved by force, "Such as will" turn back to their root. The strong walk the shy path, as if they have no home; the timid are too clumsy, as if their shoulders are unsupported; the quiet flow with a pace, as if they have no power. The army, with which it is engaged, struggles and rolls to the front; does not make a parade of itself; does not justify itself, as if without any cause. Hence, in military matters, those who are strong are accompanied by those who are insufficiently strong; those who are bound with those who are subject to those who are rigidly bound. That is why the weak are also strong; they are also bound, and so contentious; they are also uneven, and so stubborn; they are also devoid of power, because they do not have the power. Thus, they fill positions which others fill; they fill positions which others do not fill; they fill positions which others do not fill; they fill positions which others do not fill. Therefore the Sage is not bound by things that others are. And by not being bound by things that others are, he can guard all things.
