The wayfarer stands still
Taoist walks ahead
Heaven and Earth follow.
There is nothing (more or less)
less than both of them.
Taoist takes no action
Heaven and Earth follow.
He takes action
But nothing of consequence follows.
He acts without argument
He acts without fulfillment
He acts with sincerity
This is how he acts.
<|endoftext|>
The master (i.e., the ruler) does not delight in pursuing a grand course of action
But, instead, takes the next best thing.
It takes the next thing and does it better.
If you choose a path that is against the grain of the Tao, you will fear what follows, and you will be hesitant about taking a step that is against the grain of the Tao.
It is the task of the teacher to coax such a person to take the next best thing and the next best thing in the Tao, and the next in the Tao.
The TAO teaching is both positive and negative.
The TAO-Lao teaching also is positive and negative.
The TAO is a world, and it encompasses all creatures.
It encompasses all things, and in order to treat them you must have your creatures treated.
A person can give up worldly existence in order to have his creatures treated, and can even lead his creatures to act properly, but when he brings them home, they should follow him not because he has set them off, but because they have acted properly.

A man of action does not act.
A man of inaction gives a hundred
A man of action ignores things
A man of action follows.
It is better to let the hundred things come
than to chase them home.
To follow where there is light
is to stray.
Whoever does this doesn't do the job well.
Whoever does this job well is content.
Whoever does this job and his work are fulfilled.
Whoever acts and works well is known
Whoever acts and works but is not fulfilled is identified.
Whoever acts and has no fulfillment is praised.
Whoever is content with his tasks and not fulfilled is happy.
Whoever acts and does not fulfill is identified.
Whoever acts and yet does fulfill is despised.
Everyone knows that a man of action and inaction

Become aware of what is before, and be aware of what is behind. Inasmuch as you are aware of what is before, you are ever aware of what is behind. For what is known is not without blemish; for what is unknown is also not without blemish. Your knowledge is of use, so be not boastful, so keep to truth. You do not do what others do. For this you have no envy.
<|endoftext|>
Being aware of what is before, one attains to what is behind, so attaining to what is behind one attains to what is the best. Being aware of what is behind, one attains to what is the whole body, and so one attains to the nature of all things. Being aware of what is the whole body, one attains to the method of movement. Thus the wise follow the path of tranquility, so they do not become aggressive. By following the method of tranquility, one never knows how to be in motion. Thus, one never begins with an intent to go off the road, so, one never tries to set oneself up.
<|endoftext|>
Being aware of what is before, one becomes aware of what is behind. So, knowing what is behind, one becomes aware of what is above. Being aware of what is above, one becomes aware of what is ahead. Being aware of what is ahead, one becomes aware of one's self. Therefore the wise pursue the calm path in the awareness of self.
<|endoftext|>
Know what is before, attain to what is behind.Calm is behind, action is behind.Confront your nature;Who therefore guides and contrives,Always at rest, and unmoved,It is not bent.Indeed, he is that which is sought. Thus,He is that which takes no pride in himself.
<|endoftext|>
To know what is ahead, one can come to know what is behind. In this way one can know what is aheadOne who knows what is ahead, will know what is behind.Being aware of what is ahead, one can come to know what is behindOne who knows what is behind, will know what is behind.Being aware of what is behind, one comes to know what is behind. He who knows what is behind, will know what is behind. He who knows what is ahead,

He who has empty empty embraces sticks to mud.
A follower of Dao stands firmly on tiptoe,
does not move his weight,
is small,
can only lead by his own efforts.
His arms are sharp,
only for force,
A body is soft,
there is no resistance,
Yet people love it.
With those whom the world regards as base,
they will turn away.
<|endoftext|>
Empty your mind of everything
and you will rest at ease
And always, to lead with nothing.
A person not wise leads a fool
Unheeding the teacher's words will prevent him from insight
If there are no followers, then he will not win any.
The Way is a book that needs no words.
It can be opened, yet no one can read it.
It can be closed, but no one can lose it.
It is a deep knot whose key is the Dao.
<|endoftext|>
Empty your mind of all things, for you will not have a worry.
Stay in the thick end of the Yin and it will move on.
Stay in the thin end of the Yin and it will not change.
When you stay within the socialized ways of the world you cannot be depended on.
When a leader has no followers, no one will be left behind.
The ancient Tao is light enough to serve as a straw to lean upon.
If you do not rely on it, you will find yourself forced to rely on it.
<|endoftext|>
Empty yourself of your worries.Hold on to this Tao. You'll never be swept away!Look at the sky without seeing its boundaries!Hold your head in the mud without seeing the end!Stay humble in the thick and you won't break.Stay humble in the thin and you'll never be too far out!Hold to the Way without possession.Hold to the Way without enlightenment.Hold to the Way without honor.Hold to the Way without boasting.Hold to the Way without bragging.Hold to the Way without foolishness.Hold the Way without self-display.Hold the Way without glorious act.Hold the Way without glorious activity.Hold the Way without fame.Hold the Way without arrogance.

Being just "so short" doesn't define it. It follows that every other movement is chaotic. If you want to rule, force yourself to be consistent. You don't have to outsmart yourself. Disarm all your motives. Lose your sense of self. Create a brand. Be a model for others to follow. Start from the ground up, not from the top down. Don't believe that what others think is correct.Don't rely on your experience. Confucius doesn't see the appeal of slogans.
<|endoftext|>
Those who are followers of the Way are not all followers; for the Way is really inexhaustible. To make it again after desolation is beyond belief; and it is to the world's advantage to make it again. When leaders are forced to defend themselves against rebellion, they put themselves out into the world like all kinds of animal. Out of true honesty, their behavior is distinctly pointed out; out of true leaders they would not. They have lost the common interest; in fact, it is the common interest that they are pursuing, and it is their own value that is lost. He who lives the Way considers himself above things; he doesn't regard them as things. He keeps to the narrow-minded of the people, and so he has the world.
<|endoftext|>
Dwellers of the Tao don't have to justify themselves. They can be themselves and not make much distinction.Horse-riding is a matter of conscience, not a matter of fine points.Impartiality is a matter of good government, not a matter of fashionable distinction.Wrong action is a matter of conduct, not of ostentation. What all the world esteems, say it rightly, they are not willing to take up

Not forcefully keeping back is like being restrained by your breast.

Being shaky in its own strength is like being to the left or to the right.
Being to the right or the left is like not to be perceived,
Being to the left or to the right is like not to be promoted,
Not being to the right or to the left is like being useless,

And with each being there are its own traits.

To know the Tao in relation to oneself is as if you observed your constant self.Behold: he who has once known the Tao goes forward with great caution. He who is before him seems good in comparison with him,and he who has lost his way may find himself deserted by his own ways. When you call to mind the Tao and show the world your inner self, you have really given the world the Tao.So, once you have grasped the Tao, there is no danger in abandoning it, for if you have done the right things, you will gain true honour. This honour is genuine, and not merely an honour bestowed by others. If you are content to wait for things to be right, you will have no need to strive for them.If you are free from blame, you will be free from all difficulty. This will insure a long life and fruitfulness.

Those who take on virtue are not virtuous;thus they cannot remain virtuous.Do not take on virtue; Those who take on virtue are not virtuous;thus they cannot leave virtue. So be virtuous, and there is nothing to take. Therefore the Sage:Living out of the self-interest --Those who have attained enlightenment --Those who have overcome great undertakings --Those who desire to produce power and wealth --Those who have ambitions, are rejected. These, alas, are to the great harm -Those who make themselves conspicuous! He who proudly boasts is not distinguished.Being the biggest celebrity, he cannot be distinguished.Do what he has to do -- And you will be successful. Therefore the Tao doesn't resort to force --It simply doesn't exist.

Be wary of gain and loss. Become master of the unknown. Be ever alert for danger and tension. Focus your ability to focus your awareness, because you can be rare among people. When you are always aware, you may seem selfless. But to allow yourself to be absorbed in things you see as meaningless, empty, or redundant, is to violate yourself and to miss your true nature. To seek true understanding means you may lose your true self. To reject knowing means you may lose your true nature.

Ever-present danger, one is "Cautious of danger." Not daring to dare: - Evading danger. - These ways are vain and profuse. Foresight is one's nature. One whose self-nature is dull - Darkness is one's origin. One whose self-nature is luminous - Brightness is one's essence. All the ways of the Way - Are all false. The master is at rest.

He is present to all things, and does not separate himself.
He is present to all things and does not try to differ from them.
He is in unity with all things.
He is present to all things and does not differ from them.
If one is motionless, then one is motionless in the world.
If one is aware of the way of things, one is aware of the nature of existence.
If one is aware of the true nature of existence, then one is in harmony with the universe.

The world sees his work but does not recognize him. The world sees his work and does not distinguish between him and the work. He is therefore the same everywhere and to all people. The master is sustained by this very quiet intelligence of the whole universe. It is no one else's thing, and he becomes the backbone of the world. The universe thus regards him as equal to the sum of all things. The universe does not discriminate between him and the sum of all things. He is therefore perfect in everything and so completely inter-dependent with the world.

Without knowledge, the world cannot get all on its side. Without desire, the world cannot lose its substance. Without desire, the world cannot be transformed. Without knowledge, the world will grow. Without desire, the world will die. Without knowledge, the world will know the mysteries of each life. For example, the man of the world has not enough to show for himself. Therefore he builds up a house, a set of points, a palette of goodness. He produces food with cunningness. He is not as proud of his home as he is of himself. This is what comes of looking at the ground. The people look at the whole world, but are not impressed. Why should a teacher ever need to? He can leave no stone unturned.

Hollowness weakens.
Therefore, people enjoy following the Tao.

Desires being received by others.
They take delight in themselves,
Yet in the world there are no other like them.
Therefore the sage has a lot to say,
But people refuse to listen to him.

But the world names him just a small old man.
Why?
Because they don't trust him.

There is no way to it.
Therefore, it is good to act with all your strength, to venture forward.
Then people follow you, just because you are there.
Even though you are surrounded by many people, people still respect you.
No one follows you out of spite.
Not because they admire you, they do not hate you.
Because you dare to be different, you defy judgement.
Your love is the constant focus.
People will follow you wherever you go.
But you are left alone, and will not be taken advantage of.
People treasure you, and treat you as highly as a new flower, which flowers go to die on their own.
People are amazed at your heights, because you defy common convention.

Nobody notices that we have too much.
Who has more than enough and not a single one has a nose?

Thou art always steadfast.Tis not unsteady. If you turn back to do your business,The journey has not yet ceased. Those who want to be greatOf what is likely to befall themAre one with the unrighteous. Those who desire glory from it,Are not themselves worthy of glory. Those who boast of what they have done,Are not themselves to be praised. The average of things is a quarterOf impure thoughts,And men of those tastes whom the Tao can not please. He who follows the Tao is not on that account disliked; And he who follows the Tao doesn't think it too important.
<|endoftext|>
Hard to be steady! You must let go.You must not keep on.Going forward is not the way to goforward.Going back is not the way to goback.Going backwards is not the way to take the place of goingforward. You are right in trying to go backwards. To be right is to be conscious. To be conscious of the nature of things is to be aware of what is happening.Being aware of things is to be in the flow of the things. In the flow of the things, you have freedom to choose what you want. When you choose what you want, the things are equally given to you.But in things being given to, you will have to be afraid. For choosing what you want is to have material desires. When you have material desires, you have many problems. If you have troubles, you have many problems. If you have troubles, you have many names. When people of the Tao have many names, they are the common people. When people of the Tao lack the Tao, they have many names. Therefore, to follow the Tao, doesn't get the people any dislike. To follow the Tao is to be very simple, and the man who is too simple lives in a big world. To be simple is to be above the World. To be above the World is to be in accordance with the Tao.

It takes steady and firm action to go forward; it takes power to retreat. Reaching for your goal, you can never be on the right path; retarding will not make you go back. The things you control are your own creation. They are the fruit of your own choice. But once you start making them, you will never stop; that is why you need to stop making them. He

The source of light,
From below, the chief.
The commoner is the world's floor.
The highest among the commoners is not at home.

To stop and not to raise is the same as not to roll.
To stop and not to roll is the same as not to rush.
To stop and not to rush is the same as not to be content.
The one who is content is at one's ease; the one who does not have ease is of no account.
The one who has no authority is the possession of the world.
He who is of the world is not to be valued,
He who is valued cannot be despised.
Compared with the TAO, the common people are a pile of things,
Not of much value, and not to be held in high regard.
The Tao itself is indeed a big lump.
It is greatly loathed by people,
And there are those who make light of it,
And others who treasure it, and others who treat it like precious stones.
The world takes the TAO
For being big and heavy, and lacking quality,
They are considered small.
He who does not wish to abide

How much the whole World can see is beyond all scrutiny.
How much the mysterious substance can be assimilated cannot be grasped.
How much it can be tampered with cannot be mended.

The kings and lords of the world do not have that desire to rule.

A steady hand is lighter than a hand that is in motion. A large palette is lighter than a small one. A person who gets credit for his deeds is lighter than he is. The more self-importance a person has, the lighter he is. Those who have excess are not worthy to be in authority, and those who think themselves right are not righteous. To shine with splendour and merit

Boaz took a great and lasting name;Drawn a course in the dark;Changed hearts and souls;Travelled far and wide,And appeared yet to be (kind of the earth);Timed best his voice;Obscurely existed his Tao;Quieted without saying 'yes' or 'no';Called it 'Dao' but hardly knew it;Nerved his tongue without words.Who will trust them?Because they are not sharp-minded;They are not cunning, They are not guarded; They do not flaunt themselves; They do not boast.Whoever understands Tao is safe;He who has not learnt it is not in order.

The wise man is eternally minor.
The sage in his wayfarer leaves no traces of his ingenuity.
The shepherd stays behind a few rounds but does not stray;
the talkative traveler stays in his place but does not disdain his step.
When the most well-behaved are absent from the scene, the teacher's tone is not respectful;
his words are not loudly delivered;
he has little to say about himself, yet others will not be able to refrain from saying so.
As for the intelligent ones, no one will ever believe them.
When they grasp a principle, they are carried away by their inexperience.
They follow wisdom in reducing things and turning it into nothingness.
And this brings disgrace to themselves and leads them to stupidity.
What they lack in knowledge, they make up with blindness.
The wise are not moved by things that are not in themselves useful.
Because they know nothing of their own, they can never master the passion for knowledge.
But such foolishness is not learned, but hard to hold, and may be met with if you happen to know more than you think you do.
<|endoftext|>
The sagacious man has a great position
But he is obscure.
A sages is as he is remote;
He stays back and does not leave marks.
The hard working man stays behind;
He never goes too far.
The spontaneous spoken word is not enough;
He stays unassuming and makes no statements.
If the foolish do not know what is true,
They must be the teachers of ignorance.
When one has no sharp ideas,
There is no use for saying things that are obvious.
If one does

Those that stay in the earth are called "the multitude"; Those that act on land are called "the track"; Those that march on the way are called "the road"; Those that shine bright are called "the luster"; Those who praise themselves are called "insignificant;" Those who glorify themselves are called "profane;"; Those that take credit have no credit. Those who are bragful and proud have no merit; Those who boast are not last in time.Who praises himself has no merit, and therefore cannot last long. How the a priori style is worthless and false. Therefore, the Tao Teh respects the Tao Teh.

One who sits in the sky is the multitude; one who marches in the earth is the track. One who moves on land is the path. One who lights the path is the luster. One who advert is the glory. One who brag is not. Thus one that is luminous lasts and one that shines dark lasts and one that praises oneself lasts and one who boasts does not last. How much has the earth, man and the universe needs a Te of faith and learning.

Those who embrace the perennial way (Heaven) are called the multitude. Those who roam in the earth (Earth), are called the track. Those who walk in the earth are called the path. Those who esteem themselves are reckoned down. Those who are illustrious are counted down. Those who proclaim themselves are inaudible. Those who venture greatly are not regarded.

Without having known, It seems to be whole;
It appears to be bright;
It appears to be faint;
It seems to be long;
It seems to be new;
It seems to be startlingly complete.
The ten thousand things depend upon it for their activity.
For them it cannot be complete.
Therefore they regard it as "unworthy".
Therefore it is referred to as "valueless".
The use of it is enough for the ten thousand things;
It is called the great amount.
The Ten Thousand Things use it as their 10000 year supply,
For the acts of a praiseworthy are sufficient.
It is called the most magnificent.

It will make him great.
Therefore it is said:
"Man who knows himself seldom becomes one."

When your mind is at rest, it is hard to move. When your mind moves, it is hard to remain still. When your mind is clear, it is dull. When your mind shines, it is invisible. When your mind serves the Tao, it is unadorned. When your heart is open, it is empty. When your heart is filled, it is empty. When your heart is rugged, it is smooth. When your heart is sullied, it is pristine. When your heart is smooth, it is smooth. When your mind is bright, it is faint. When your mind is serene, you are lost. When your mind is rough, you become sharp. When your mind is full, it is empty. When your mind is clear, it is cloudy. When your mind is serene, you are still.

To avoid TAO, some things must fail.
If one could stay away from all things, one would not have any affairs.
The former rulers of the country must have TAO.
The latter rulers must have TAO,
The former rulers lack TAO,
The latter must have TAO,
One who has no faith will not be trusted by others.
Whoever is called by Tao is not Tao.

If one must dare, he is also to be flogged.
If one knows that the Tao is not a lie, then he will know that the Tao is always right.

Man stands upon his tiptoes.
He who stands on his tiptoes walks with difficulty.
He who is fickle looks like his bright.
He who boasts himself has no value.
He who uses his strength for nothing has no place.
He who possesses self-assertion, has no virtue.
He who wants to be esteemed has no merit.

Watch out for the new rule. For if you don't watch out for the new rule, you can't be restrained in your enforcement of it.Hence, you must first watch out for not-being;You must first watch out for wantonness. To always pursue oneself is not enough for one who is free of disordered thoughts.A man who wants to become restrained has no better chance than to get out of his bondage.Just because he's free of his bondage,He never loses it.That's the principle behind [the great law].That's the universal law. This applies also to action.

What is contrary to Tao
Does not stand firm,
Which is the common cause of disorder.
What stands firm is not of the Tao,
Who should take it as his model?
Who is affable - not to the point.
One who boasts of his merit - He is not distinguished.
One who strives hard - He is not found.
One who multiplies his weight - He is not overcome.
One who has his own glory - He has no measure.
This is Taoism's doctrine.
Should you reject it,
Your work will fail and cease.
You do not lead,
Therefore your aim is also not,
Holding to it will produce no effect.
Confer what you need - Do not attempt it;
Embrace simplicity, and your things will not go wrong.

What is contrary to the Tao does not stand firm, that is the cause of disorder.
Therefore the great man holds to the Tao and does not meddle with what is natural, he is affable, he does not brag, he does not show himself off, he carries on without ceremony and has no airs.
What he has in his possession, he does not compete over with his adversary.
It is the natural way for an "Emptiness" man to lead the ten thousand races.
If he cannot get them moving, he loses them.
What he owns he does not show off, he lays claim to.
Without claims, he is not.
To take up a great deal in life is to ruin.
If you should find yourself losing your breath,
Look at the blessings of simplicity.

Successful people seem to be unconcerned about what they do or where they stand.
They have the heart of a dutiful child, who has forgotten their job.
A dull person acts quickly, becomes indiscreet.
A powerful person is on autopilot.
A leader is respected for his skill but his people trust him,
he doesn't force himself.
<|endoftext|>
People with little faith in their success seem to be extraordinary, trying, such as, never to stop.
The people of the world with a lot of faith seem only that the people of the world are jealous and how ridiculous it is.
This is the basis of the belief of the inferior man who stands by and does not show his face.
He is an example of ignorance and stupidity, the most baneful.
Lao Tze says that even if someone has the ability he has yet to meet him.
The people are not able to be confused with the blindness of the world.
The people with the most faith will be most easily deceived.
<|endoftext|>
The man who stands still and stops striving does not lose his self-control.
The man who struggles for his strength in vain is in vain.
The one who strikes and drags loses his own self-mastery.
The one who pushes and shakes out of his mind finds no support.
The one who expects self-commanders and nobody responds misses the point.
The one who stands out from the group finds no support.
The one who has mastery, and is forced to act, loses the will to act.
That is to say, the wise do not dwell in others. They do not foster their own success.
Thus, they are beyond doubt from the point of view of the non-man.

The good one's thoughts are like rivers of goodness constantly flowing.
The bad one's thoughts are like streams of badness constantly flowing.
The virtuous doesn't possess much good. The evil one possesses a lot of bad.
Doing good one forgets about kindness and morality. Tending one doesn't seem to like flowers and loud music. Giving free everything the wind.
Therefore, the good one could be in the boundary of bad. The evil one could be in the boundary of good.

There are four quarters in the body -
One stays in the second,
One stays in the first,
One stays in the rear,
One stays in the left,
One stays in the right.
The rear
What's left behind is the raw material of the Front.
The left
What's left behind is the raw material of the Right.
Who fights to be great is doomed to fail.
A great man who refuses to fight dies by himself.

Tao, all-pervading, is the root of the myriad beings, And hence makes them all whole.
This origin is hidden and self-referential, But its corner - absolute without limitation.
One who will not suppress the hidden is like an utter stranger to the world. Who will not manifest its self-endowed, Is like a father to all creation.
Who will be insufficiently self-controlled is like the root of all evil.
Who is insufficiently self-controlled will not ever live to see his light.
If you follow TAO, You will never fall into discord with TAO.
You will learn of the diversity of life; The diversity of content - the great diversity. The nature of TAO is subtle - too subtle to be described. It is not a series of dashes. It is not a series of bleeds. It is not a model of ill omen. It is not the counterpoint to The Dao. It is not put in order.
I use the Tao that rolls down
As the mother to the myriad creatures;
And, by the great mother,
The myriad creatures grew, by the great ones,
And by the great ones, grew back.
Who underlies, without giving birth
Is the uncarved block - the shape of an object.
Who is self-centered - without being independent -
Is the root of chaos and error.
Who thinks of himself as great is inferior to the great.
He who stands out - is not picked out.
He who acts with a great deal of violence - is not the first in the world.
He who has no passions - no bitterness - is not of the earth.
By knowing the different uses of the Supreme,
The multitude will appreciate the one truly great principle,
Who keeps away from the sharp edge

In traveling by walking through the land one is not drawn to feel exhausted.
One who goes deep in the heart of the Tao does not lose the way.
He chooses his course in the midst of thick whirlwinds, unseen by eyes.

He knows the time for movement, so there is a time of inaction.

It is best to get lost in experience, and you will leave your body.

Hold firmly to your stature, and you cannot be an object of desire of the earth.
Those who are unable to contend with others, are therefore unfit for the rulership of the earth.
Those who are able to contend are therefore fit for the rulership of the earth.
Thus, one who contends but has no soul, cannot contend well with the world.
One who contends with the world, cannot contend well with himself.
So one who contends well, and struggles with this, and contends also with this,
is no longer properly one with the world.
So this is the flaw of one who contends well, and struggles with the world.
It is also the flaw of one who contends well with the world.
Those who contend with the world are no longer properly themselves.
They struggle against those who push back against the earth.
For they alone become untrustworthy.

When one stands upright, nothing is within his reach.

Therefore the Enlightened Man, in walking through the Way, does not look to the Tao.
He walks through the Matrix of the Tao.
The Master man does not look at Tao.
He looks at Matrix of the Tao.
What is left is merely a shell of Tao.
What is left is merely the wall of Tao.
That is why the Master man is without delight in the Tao.
Without delight, he walks the path of non-action.
Not daring to do, he walks the path of action.
Therefore the wise man abandons the Tao.
The disinclined man abandons the Matrix of the Tao.

Knowing tao benefits the body, but it harms the mind. The body is like a big hole: it pushes all potentials away. The mind is like a big door: it slips around, and allows all possibilities to pass through. In the beginning, the body must stand, where potentialities have no place to go. If the mind, too, is like this hole, it must be sheltered by the outer, which makes the mind narrow and foggy. Like a big hole, the mind is like one of the void. The big mind is a distraction to the mind, but the small mind is like the big mind: the dim spot within. Too narrow, the mind is like emptiness. Too dim, it is the mind's guide. Being drawn to the big, like a big hole, the mind comes to mindlessness. Too big, it is the mind's stop.
A wise man does not seek that which lies beyond the gate. He walks the great square, like a leaf on the wind. No shape with which to tangle him is complete without the gate. When the whole body, to the fullest extent, has been settled, let the sage take stock of its place. And then, when the center is exhausted, he lets the main run its course. When one has trusted in that which is unseen, let him delight in the life of simplicity, embracing the door, and become a guest in the void.
<|endoftext|>
Being wise leaves the sage's body and lets the inner one go. When the sage steps into his body he finds himself on the outside. Being aware of this he remains still. Always knowing the outer, a wise man remains anonymous and free.

Before proceeding with the teh:
It is not advisable to prevent the activity of Heavens and Earth.
It is the origin of having earthly desires and desire for action.
Making use of them, they remain,

It is the source of profundity and virtue,
It is not to be discarded.
Maintain the original, not the refined;
Maintain humility and compassion;
Maintain Tao,
Not use it for its own sake.

It is Truth's creature, and we should not use it to justify our desires.

When a man follows Tao,He will never falter.
When he seeks after power,He will never fall short.
When he reaches the summit,He takes no notice of the crowd.
He loves peace, but does not dwell on pleasure.
He follows his natural self, and never dwells on private gain.
To penetrate a person's consciousness,He needs a nose;to reach the heart,He needs eyes.
If people cannot pay attention to him,He is soon knocked over.
Therefore, in talking about "Nature,"He means "God:"
Nature is powerful,but doesn't break.
He is the son of Heaven and Earth,And never becomes exhausted by its goodness.
When he is forced to give up his body,He is only begging for death.
<|endoftext|>
The one who obeys the Tao does not falter in actions.
For he lives in boundless expansiveness.
As an initiate, he wants to be like a hoe on the earth,
whose aim is natural harmony,
without being satisfied by his own means.
As a leader, he needs a leader,
whose aim is this: unity,
without being satisfied by his own means.
From the standpoint of the learner,
The Tao is his father.
He does not contend with him, nor withdraw from him.
In comparison with the older man, the Tao is not so powerful,
but does not possess the arrogance to be powerful.
He can overcome others, but never in anger, nor forcefully,
nor can he dominate them.
Even if he succeeds in using violence,
this cannot be compared to Tao.
If it is the way of a king,
it is the best way.
If a person is possessed by his conscience, he is not in the spirit of being possessed.
The wise master acts but does not force,
but what he does he does with proper purpose.
Then his behaviour is praiseworthy.

Those who are conspicuous become conspicuous. Those who are conspicuous become conspicuous. Those who are conspicuous become conspicuous. Those who are conspicuous become conspicuous. You never need to win fame, because you have plenty.
You never crave your own beauty, because you have plenty.
You never crave honour, because you have plenty.
You don't need to talk, because you have plenty.
If you don't want to please, and you're happy, that's fine.
When you love others, nobody will hurt you.
If you don't like to be loved, no one will love you.
The people around you don't care about you.
Without being self-interested, you're just like everybody else.
Because you don't need to act, no one can stop you.
If you're contented with yourself, you're just like everybody else.
Because you're not self-seeking, you're a very comfortable lot.
Because you don't compete, nobody competes with you.
If you're alone, you'll find a place to rest in the end.

Those who know what they do do nothing. Those who do not know what they do, yet step forward, cannot rest. Yet the loudest, the most evident is not so bright. The head on tiptoe is not so upright. The stance will not last long. Those who are above are not bright; they only shine for show, like wax. The man of ten thousand talents cannot make things bright; they only shine to gloat. Those who display themselves are not bright; they only shine as a piece of sculpture. The extreme of fame shines; the least one has is not bright; it shines only because it is daring. He who dwells in his real self and keeps it dark, cannot be elevated. Therefore, the sage tries to be light but stays on the light, and he uses that light to inspire the world.
<|endoftext|>
He who keeps one's eyes open is untiring. Those who shut their eyes, will long lose them. The brightest things seem to be in darkness. The man with a lot of energy is not evenly dispersed. He keeps on the level path, so that he will not be disturbed. So the sage shines as a jewel,And keeps still as a lamp. Those who have reached high positions, because they remain in themselves,Will not be surprised by others. The sage desires only what he desires,And lives in the absence of desire.Having the genuine body, yet remaining free of fear,The man of few talents shines,But those who have become prominent, are in need of humility. Those who cannot abide desire, become the proximate cause of desire. One who is not the self is not truly oneself. The well-developed self conceives without naming itself. Thus a dark, dull, brooding world consists of light, bright, giving and taking.
<|endoftext|>
For those who know the light, there is nothing that cannot be kept in darkness. For those who know the dark, nothing that cannot be kept in bright light. The head on tiptoe becomes unsteady. The stance cannot last long. Those who are above show no light. Those who are moved at once bring excitement. Those who are chief among followers, cannot be learned. Thus, he who remains aloof stands alone,He who keeps his mind free of all mental distress is master of the world.

It is [the presence of the Tao] that is the base for Heaven and Earth. It is the root for the four elements. It is the very soul of the infinite variety of all things. It is so weak that its existence can be controlled, but it is still valuable. It is limited in number because of its interdependency with the threefold nature. It is constant and unchanging.
It is the Direction of Heaven and Earth that possesses the Root. Therefore, it can be grasped by the keenest apprehension. It is the Fountain of all the rivers and streams of the world. It is infinite, and so full that it can never be exhausted. It is inimitable in its Infinite Depth.
<|endoftext|>
The material world is the home to Tao. It is the base of the ten directions.
When the Ten directions emerge from Tao they are formless.
And they are endlessly formless because they are being.
When the ten directions are united, the Way is not there.
This is because the merging of the Ten directions allows them to become one.
When they are united the Way is also present in them.
When they are together the Way is also present in them.
Whenever the ten directions move, they make others appear.
When the ten directions become separate, they separate ones become others.
When the ten directions move to non-action, they create things.
When the ten directions become concentrated, they are powerful.
When the ten directions arise, they become hidden.
The Hidden One takes its time.
Its action is slow, its power comes from the Heaven.
Through constancy, its power grows.
The embodiment of hidden One is subtle and unapproachable.
The description of it is of no use.
Those who know it are never forgotten.
Those who do not know it perish without warning.
Those who are forgotten do not stay dead.

Nature is the Awakened Way of the Universe. It is the foundation of the ten directions. All of the ten directions emerge from it. It is the limitless source of all things.
The way is what it is.
It is transitory.
But it is the source of everything.
It is one with the Way and that it is All-Ever.
The Way is intangible and elusive.
It is invisible.
Yet it is the whole

How do I know the outer world?I know that I am so.
The ten thousand things are divided into ten thousand things,
But the ten thousand things are not divided into ten thousand things.
But the ten thousand things exist and exist and exist,
And yet it is I who exist but I am not aware of myself.
The ten thousand things are separated from each other.
Their parts are no longer separate;
Their sequence is completed. They are separated,
They are now the same.
I am their separate parts.
I am their part not complete.
They are incomplete. I alone am imperfect.
The 10000 are countless;
I alone,
I alone am silent.
I alone am innocent.
And yet the Tao seems so whole.
There are only there four subtle tones,
Hence: "Easy." "Easy" is "Difficult,"
"Difficult."
"Hard."
"Difficult."
"Harmonious."
The ten thousand things all have a sense of themselves,
And exist without possessing a sense of themselves.
I alone possess my sense of self.
I alone exist and exist without a sense of self.
My sense of self is incomplete.
I alone am empty.
I alone am obscure.
Thus the Tao seems whole and bright.
It seems to be full of "lessons."
It seems to be indifferent to suffering.
It seems to be in harmony with the vastness of the Universe.

The sun is bright, yet all of the bright notes are inaudible. The air is full, yet all sounds fade away. The Tao is clear, yet all things are unknowable. The 10000 Things walk, but the Mysterious Way is hidden behind. So, when holding up the Inner Virtue and Truth, one can find the brightness of Inner Light. In motion, one is still, but in rest one is clever. When seeking enlightenment, one is active, but in silence one finds greatness.
<|endoftext|>
The sun is bright, yet all sounds of sound are inaudible. The earth is full, yet all things are obscure. The way is clear, yet all things remain unclear. 10000 Things are following, yet the mysterious Way is hidden behind. The Sage does not consider himself to be yet, so he seems to have nothing to be thought about. When he is moving with his Vital Energy, he remains in silence. When he is engaging in great action, he remains natural, still. When he conducts himself with light, he is bright; when he acts, he is in the center. But when he uses force, he is imposing, then things lose their power.
<|endoftext|>
The shad'ow in his splendour is not audible. The earth is rich in all its heaviness,So the tangible is murky and the spirit elusive. Thus comes All-good to the earth,To its peopleOnly the darkness in the earth remains,Yet what they seeDoes not manifest. At once, the biding, stopping, and departing are free. When a man walks he puts himself where there is nothing.Moving swiftly, he never stops. When doing great things, he is modest. When acting, he is strong,Always spontaneous. When ruling, he stays rooted in solid unity. That is why a man of law is a man of law,A man of law is a man of law,And so the only wiseOne doesn't want to be the Way - one of the Way is not in the Way - one of the Way is not in the Way.

In extending the pliant, it is advisable to extend the sharp. In using up the heavy, it is advisable to use up the light. In acting from without, it is advisable to act from within. The use of the four (yes, four things) in one's person is necessary.Between good and evil is difficult.Where there is thickning the light is insufficient.Between life and death is very difficult.Do not overdo it.Do not think yourself superior.Do not exaggerate.Do not seize.Do not endure, do not wear down.A quiet person is a good one. A superman is precious.A Taoist is flexible.A scholar is silent.People are so simple that they can't find a true name.

If you extend pliant,You get pliant more easily. In any case, something that is light is not good.It is dark that is good.If you follow this principle,You will not be aware of it.You will see it all the time. You will never cease from it.You will give life to people inauspiciously. To fill your bellyYou have to use stuff. But if you do not use the belly,You will never be empty. When you fill yourself you will fill everything. When you stay hereYou will move everywhere. If you are kind, you are going to be kind.If you act from above, you are going to act from the center. If you take up things in your daily life,You are going to become vested with things. You will meet with the Taoand not have to come and go.A refined person will be even more refined than others.A true sage will be even more true than others.A prodigal son will be rich.A good house is a good house. One who abandons all being will make things his own; so, walking on the thin edge of the rope, one is overcome by the weight of its tangles. He who puts down all extremes will improve his mind and reach the goal. The unshapen heart, that of a common man, would again suffer a sense of unreality. He who is at ease and self-controlled is always on the go; he who considers himself in superior order finds his purpose merely the component part of the universe; and when he turns his back on the Tao, he should return to the condition of the old. This is the great and the brief. Indeed, the sage for the greatest good is not one who acts according to a (special) justice. A man of the Book who not only embraces all and does not yield, is for the greatest good, whose praiseworthy action could hardly be shorted.

The state is always vigorous,And through not having power, it can speak clearly.Wherever the Tao is,the various people are strong in their stand.Their stand is kept at arm's length,And the words are not acknowledged by any one.Being without action, they are so put out they have no time to argue.Without debate, their minds are confused and they forget everything they did in the past.Hence they make decisions without even thinking about it.They do things without knowing the result and think that it is all just because the Tao is in them.

Just the opposite: The gentleman naturally does the just, even in adversity. The gentleman naturally acts the just, even in adversity. That's why he has more virtue than anyone else. You cannot praise him.You cannot compare him to anyone. You can't praise him lightly. He can't be praised lightly.Even when he is in danger, he has so many qualities that you would expect disaster to follow.Everyone knows that a gentleman has more virtue than other people.Even when he is in danger, he is always so virtuous.Because he has such a lot of good qualities, he is not different from everybody else.If you are on the contrary of the gentleman, you treat him lightly.A man of god cannot compare to the gentleman. He cannot see that he is different. You cannot compare the self to the world. You are different from everyone else.Being different from the world means that you are under obligation to make yourself the world.Everything in the world depends on you: you know where your self is, you have all the ideas and desires, and so on.You do not know where the world is.And if you do not know where the world is, you are led to act as the world.Always, when you are acting, do so with

Measure yourself against what you have, and you will have the noblest in the world.
If your heart is made up of opposing virtues, what a mixture of good and bad will be there!
Who could advise you? Give to everyone else to be a servant; and accept to receive.
Since you can't make anyone happy, go for yourself.
The fool thinks he can go his own way,
But all his career is just going his own way.
He who is not able to become master
Is a fool of great talent.
The sage has this to say about success:
It's the heart that counts.
<|endoftext|>
Set a goal and you will meet your goal. You may have a goal, but it has no inherent limit. You can move closer to completion by giving up all desires.
Put a halt to your desires and you will gain much. Focus on one's livelihood and your life will be better. If you are prone to anxiety, you will stumble. Your behaviour is conditioned by your self-interest, not by being free of anxiety.
The teacher will advise:
Do not believe everything others tell you to believe, for this is what causes you to be false to the truth.
Be free of egocentricity and you will find your balance.
Do not expect others to conform to your desires, and you will live a natural life.
By not trying to be perfect, you will find your best self.
It is not desirable to have a fine sense of style, such as the fashionable extravagance. If you seek after a happy life, your way of life will bring you an easy life.
And the sage believes: The high road leads to misery.
<|endoftext|>
Now,If you have been able to observe (or at least try to observe) the six kinds of desires - the desires of happiness, pain, food, clothing and other things - - then you will have an understanding of the six kinds of desires.I don't know how to make a second step beyond this. I can't reach all the way there,I am always far from it.Therefore I say:Though I have had the desire to become great, to become splendidly distinguished, as well as the desire to be generous and considerate, it cannot be settled by these selfish desires.I am not able to behave in this manner. To get great [poetic] power:
Stay away from ways of dealing with things.
To win great successes:
Stop comparing yourself with others.
To improve with strong methods:

Let all things flourish by themselves.
Only then can the Tao be obtained.
When all things flourish,
There's no loss.
When the Tao is obtained,
If you want to do much,
You should know that you won't be successful.
When you know you won't be successful,
You'll not be stubborn in your demands.
How much difference? The difference is the Tao.
The old saying, "Where the Tao is, there is peace."
How much could that be like?

The masters constantly seek fulfillment in activity and methods that serve the attainment of their ends. Since the mastery of tasks and methods is the movement of the Great Tao, they never assert their abilities as leadership. They do not strive to be leaders in their own terms, and seek only what is given and obtained. To them success and failure are separate matters and not the same as they are in themselves. The mastery of the Great Tao is not known by the few, but only through the many. Who can master the mastery of the Great Tao and be there when all things are fulfilled? This is the way of Tao.
<|endoftext|>
How is it that the great masters never seek fulfillment in activities which they initiate? How can it be said that their operations serve their ends? How can it be said that the mastery of methods over implements takes them to the heights of happiness? How can it be said that inasmuch as they, having achieved their ends, do not dwell in them, they neither become homeless nor disgraced! Those who know how to embody Tao understand that what can be achieved is achieved. It is not enough to act on this!It is enough to know how to embody Tao.How do I know how to embody Tao? I know it through experience. It is only through experience that I can embrace Tao.The Tao that is given by manifestation seems inadequate to the ultimate mystery. It is not the universal essence of Tao.

The Holy Spirit alone, like the Spirit of God, strives to be hidden.
It is the Inner Quiet that overcomes the outer appearance.
Fancy but lacks substance, and extravagant, all the same.
Hard-hearted but in need of material support, and self-centered, all the same.
Gentle but in need of leadership, and suave, all the same.
Indicative but lacking substance, and taciturn, and all-pervading.
The clear suggests to the superficial, but is elusive to the opaque.
The Subtle Way is dim and obscure,
and it suffices to observe the minutiae of a person.
Heaven is unnamable, it belongs to the Inner.
Earth is unnamable, it belongs to the Outer.
Front and back, the former names the latter,

Practical and well-rounded, they keep to the Tao Way.
They are perfectly content.

The clear head has its origin in the shining mirror, and so far as we know, there were no days when the sunlight didn't shine through. The brightest leaders are shallow and lecherous; Those who demand that others follow their example are empty-headed;Those who fear leaders are conceited; The cleverest place the most difficult tasks; Those who are most correct suffer no loss; Those who are the clearest cannot be distinguished from others; Those who are most inwardly clear suffer no scorn; Those who are most selfless seek no reward. So the wise leader brings about transformation and teaches the people that they should pursue their own desires, and that desire brings no reward. The problem of the leader's lack of trust is indeed an issue which must be resolved. If the leader can't trust everyone, he is most likely to do something which is against the will of others. But a person who knows the inner secrets of the world is different from others. He is intelligent and clever, but most importantly he does not dwell in his knowledge. He is simple and kind, but most importantly he does not substitute his way of life with anything else. He never tries to take advantage of others. He knows the difference between right and wrong, right and wrong, fame and ridicule, success and failure. The person who knows the secret of the universe knows the truth of the world.

The conventional leaders who ignore the affairs of the people, go against the proper course of Nature. The perfect do not play along with others and do not leave a drop of dignity behind. The active will have no effects in the world. The possessive behave as though self-assertion, without gratitude. And since the conscious growth of the citizen relies on the onth, they will fail to realize their true ambition. For this reason the man who knows how things arise, is enlightened, and the self-centered; and the person who is aware of the unknown will have no doubts. The leader who does not rely on force is the good one, and the good one is whoever makes others happy.
The person who is flatters people, and the flatter is not likely to be the best source of happiness for anyone.
Hiding is a place for showing off and showing off will never get you as much as by hiding yourself in your inner self.
Confidence comes from hiding things from yourself.
Impropriety comes from showing off and showing off will not get you anything like as much as if you hid from yourself.
One who is as big as an elephant is really a fool.
One who is as light as a feather is actually very powerful.
One who can rule all the people is really humble.
One who is as ugly as a straw is really a precious gem.
The person who is as foolish as the straw will always be in the wrong.
The Leader does not depend on force, thus he does not require force.
His muscles do not need muscles.
So he is really strong as a mountain, but has no need of a valley.

It may be the Tao
Or it may be the instrument
Either way it can't stay where you've kept it
Then, the foolish and the foolish will bring you down

Do not burden them, for they'll stay with you
See it all as a learning experience

Those who have enough have enough, and become angry and angry. Those who have no need have enough, and become scarce. Here is the law of economy: If you have more than you need, you use it sparingly. Tao and Way are "extra burdens,"
Heavily employed,
And ripened by sages and wise ones.
Everyone wants fame and distinction,
But little of it remains.
Only THOU gives.
Who wants to be THOU,
Must renounce.
<|endoftext|>
The Path of the Laws of the Universe:
When the laws of the universe are lost, the Way comes into existence.
When "glorious" appears, it's because there is nothing better.
When "glorious" has faded, there are "impossible" because "ordinary" appears.
When the Sage is silent and does nothing, fame is created.
When the statesman is no-one, fame is created.
When a king is no-one, fame is created.
When fame is created,
Where there is no talent, there is gold, fame and riches.
In ancient times, there were plenty of these.
From then on, the Masters practised what they had attained.
Without giving in to fame, they would maintain their simplicity.
Without giving in to reputation, they would maintain their true nature.
Without giving in to wealth, they would maintain their worldliness.
When the Masters do not teach, there will be no confusion.
If someone seeks fame and fortune, they will stumble.
If someone seeks gold, there will be gold.
What one needs to know is to know that there are appearances.
One who is selfless, he is the recipient of the Tao.
When this principle is lost, there will be no Tao.
<|endoftext|>
The Tao is as murky as it is bright.
When it dims, it's as bright as it light.
Achieving honors is as easy as winning.
All these changes are fine by nature, but are not worthy of imitation.
Leaders are not bright. Leaders are not luminous.
They claim recognition but do not boast.
They achieve power and wealth

A right path must not be followed. A valley that goes down will not be protected. When a king is surrounded he will lose his credibility. A sage sees the world as an extension of himself. For a little, then nothing; for a long, then nothing. A magnificent car may go up but never leave the track. To the one who carries a cart it is foolish to tamper with it. To the one who holds fast to things, their disappearance is inevitable.
<|endoftext|>
In order to walk about on a straight line,Do not walk on a roundabout track. If a valley is to be protected,It should be kept in secure anchorage,If a king is encircled,He should make a career of asserting his authority,If a sage regards the world as his home,He must be a model citizen. As for a chariot drawn by horsepower,It must not be taken alongThe chariot cannot be shown to the eye.One who uses it is in no way respected. When a carriage, a cart,A carriage, a cart, a cart,A cart, and a carriage,Are not used,Then they must come to an end.
<|endoftext|>
The height that is found in Wayfarers is not wide. As a valley will not be protected,A feudal house cannot be preserved. A true sage can be identified with the whole world. When he is alone, he is without their worry. When he progresses, his steps are inexhaustible. When he acts with fairness, his compassion is free from violence. When he adopts to things, its loss is inevitable.Wherever a carriage goes, it will not leave the road.
<|endoftext|>
The highest wayfarer may not be able to straighten his back. Therefore, with a valley he should keep it secure;if a king is surrounded by the people, he should make peace between them. When he is an accomplished scientist, he could make a model of the world. The best chariot, when it is set on the road, should not leave the road;and, when a great chariot is set on the road, it should not go behind it.Should a chariot leave the road, it must not be set to the next road.In the end, the wayfarer makes the entire world go to work for him;thus, he meets no ill

A house can be kept clean without cleaningliness; A chariot can be driven safely without being overworked; A tent can be used in a winter without melting. Still, in an army, thorns grow to one's body, bones to one's bones; and jade is the basis for weapons. The Tao does not like using these.
One who is good at keeping one's self together Will be always secure against surprise; One who is good at drawing down one's gravity Will be always safe from danger; One who is good at winning by thievery Will be ever successful. If One likes to wear the gold Standard, This is not excessive food or unnecessary fine things.
<|endoftext|>
Do not shrink from small things, or wear out the world. The softness of the world is without clothing or tools to alter.
High up, without the need for poles, one can walk the world without wear and tear,
Low down, without the need for tools to alter, one can take the world without losing oneself.
The one doesn't need it for means, and that's the mark of true skill.
<|endoftext|>
Empty, sit like a fish.Rest not in high places.Do not wear decorations, or fret the neighbors. When the state is free, go about. When people have a lot, serve; When one's mood is dull, fill a cup.If you have the Dao, keep it, and the Dao does not need to know.If you keep it, it will last for a long time.
<|endoftext|>
Tao is always at peace. When there is no strife, quietness is maintained. When there are rivalries, there is order. When the world is made up of the ten thousand things, those things should be kept in peace and quiet. When the goods are paid for, they should not attract excess attention, and if one wants to be distinguished by it, one should not remain in the background.Tao does not polish or polish itself, and therefore does not need any action. Therefore, one who is able to be a teacher of Tao is not discarding Tao; one who is a governor of the empire is not discarding the state. When the empire is at peace, there is no need to be involved in anyone else's affairs.
<|endoftext|>
Tao is good at being quiet and retiring;

The tao is one of the ten major, but it is not 'good,' and as such it does not cause issues.
It is great, but it does not attract attention.
It is small, but it is not beyond hope.
It is ordinary, but it facilitates all others.
So the things that excel in Tao do not let them happen.
The Tao that exists is as profound as the sky, or as broad as the water.
So what is of the sky cannot be refuted, and what is of the water cannot be transformed.
The same is true of the Tao:
It is a thing of great credit
for sages to be able to say
"Things are born;
"they perish,"
"they are without reputation."
And a name is required,
"to convey its character."
Not a name
of its own accord
can be put to it.
The conceiving of the Tao
is a matter of great caution.
Therefore,
He who abides in the Tao
Does not persist in its greatness.
<|endoftext|>
The constant motion of Tao is like that of water, quick to return.
It flows, ceaselessly, among the 10000 things and seems to be so limitless.
Can it be diminished? No.
Can it be distinguished? Yes.
Can it be talked of? Yes.
Can it be acted upon? Yes.
Not all things are pleased by it.
Cautious about what it thinks it wants to do, it will not.
Let it flow like the flood, or use it as it likes.
Can the wind overcome the great wind? The higher it moves, the more resistance it has.
The world's troubles are caused by desire.
Desire is the female of Tao.
Desire is the root of all ills.
Don't desire what is beyond desire.
<|endoftext|>
A swaying softness, the Tao, like a dao, is inexhaustible, a whit with infinitely elastic power.
Loss and preservation all fade away; loss and destruction all return.
If we know it, it's inexhaustible.
It exists everywhere, and is endless.
We do not know it, but it exists everywhere.
But if we try to exert our awareness to try to understand it, it won't do.
It's an infinite tang.

Keep your body from harm, and all other corporeal substances can be handled without causing trouble.Do not use force, otherwise there is not enough room for you to act. No one comes to take from you unless you insult them. No one returns your love unless you abuse them. Keep yourself without being disrespectful and you will naturally be the easiest to live with. Do not grieve for others; grief is an affliction that cannot be avoided.Do not value other men's company; one who does not value other men's company cannot cherish himself.Dignified, undemeaned, tolerant and not hard to live with, these can only be gained through the rules of the Tao.
<|endoftext|>
By ignoring the senses, one can act freely and naturally. No matter what is put in front of you, you don't have to compete. So long as you stay out of other people's way, you do not have to compete. To know yourself, don't try to impress others; show no pride. Be delicate and kindhearted. Not to possess something isn't precious; not to say how you want to be is correct. Don't be quick to talk, so don't blow your own horn. Act out of natural convenience, without forcing anything.
<|endoftext|>
Let nothing overtake you. Such is the way of the Tao. He who wants to possess you is in vain. He who wants to discard you is in vain. He who wants to show you his superiority over you is in vain. He who wants to hurt you is in vain. He who wants to make you his servant is in vain. He who wants to do you harm is in vain. When men have won their advantage of the law of action, they gain the law of thorns. Men who destroy it by being contentious have lost the law of the Tao.
<|endoftext|>
Grasp and hold. Let there be no resistance. No effort required.Practice it constantly.Nothing is out of place. It does not need compensation.Trust people, but do not compare with them.No exaltation of self.Act without holding on to self.Never be hard to live with.Embrace the Tao and never leave it.

Wean: The action of the four quarters is formless: Formless action is shaped by the four quarters; the four quarters shape the action. The shape of the shape is formed by the form. Form is real form, real real real real form, real real real real real form, real real real real real form, real real real real real real shape. Rejected, rejected, rejected: rejection is followed by the recognition of reality. So rejection takes precedence over recognition. And not recognizing: rejection is followed by recognition. Not recognizing: recognition takes precedence over reject. What's that you say?The Tao is good in its perfection, but it lacks in all its essentials: Everything that can be, it rejects.

In order to have a hundred things, we must know how to produce them. To know how to produce a hundred things, we need to know how to produce a single, little, small thing. To know how to produce a hundred things, we need to know how to produce a great, vast thing. If we do not know how to produce a hundred things, we can't know how to produce a great, vast thing. There's nothing small that has the potential to become a great, vast thing. To the student of Tao, Tao is good enough, but Tao doesn't conform to Tao. If it doesn't conform to Tao, Tao won't conform to the student of Tao. If the student of Tao doesn't conform to Tao, Tao won't conform to the student of Tao. The student of Tao doesn't conform to Tao. The student of Tao doesn't conform to the student of Tao. The student of Tao doesn't conform to the student of Tao. The student of Tao doesn't conform to the student of Tao. If Tao isn't good enough, then the student of Tao will never be able to conform to the teacher of Tao.

When your sight extends to the Inner Self --When heaven is in accord with it --When the earth is in accord with it --When men cooperate -- when valleys and ravines are filled --When a living creature lives --when the native people trust --When the places of feudal lords are in harmony --When the State's productive power remains constant --When the ability of the senior officials is adequate --When they will take care of their own interests --But if they do not extend it to others --If they do not give it a name to them --They are in error.

When an army rushes to war, the troops are not as good at showing off as the war-rumors; Even though the officials all say 'rumors,' nobody stands up and says what they're saying.Even though the officials all talk about the importance of winning the war, nobody is there to show the great importance of winning the war. Even though the officials all say 'We do our best,' nobody has the guts to stand up and tell the rest of the people about the greatest importance of winning the war.Even though the officials all talk about the honor of victory, nobody ever stands up and stands up in the people's honor.Even though the officials all glorify victory, Nobody ever stands up and praises the victory. The generals and barons do not glorify the victory.Indeed, the world's best generals and barons never glorify the victory. The reason for this is that no matter what the army has won, the officers and men will not glorify the victory.
<|endoftext|>
One has to crush the people's ambitions for victory, when they take to four wheel-hoes. The reason that he who can is afraid is not the reason that he doesn't. And one has to be ready to do what others cannot do, as a matter of course, but only when the occasion demands it.For example, when soldiers have been quartered and fired, nobody stands up and says, I have been quartered and fired. When a certain amount of credit is involved, nobody in their right mind stands up and says, I have been credit. He who proclaims the glory of his victory has no glory at all. The officials who brag about the victory do not deserve to be officials.

That is why even in victory they do not boast.
The greatest generals do not glorify their ability.

Having grasped the Tao, the humble man is laid low, lowly indeed! He has forgotten his birth, his nature and his home;He conceals his self, he hides his faults. He who walks without fear makes the dark the plain; He who straddles without disorder makes himself ordered. Those who empty their treasures have no use for them; Those who chat with men have no trust in them. These three form the origin of the heavens and the earth,The excess of pleasantness and the refusal to go forth, These three form the very cause of confusion and separation in the world. These three produce but the muddy repast of unhewn wood.A man does not want to be muddy;A man does not want to have everything rustic. He has to make use of what is here and now.He stops at this juncture.A person who regards these three as unworthy and detestable, has lost his true self.

He who takes up the Way doesn't seek it;
he who follows does not waste his time.
If he gives up the hunting ground,
his scent will no longer be there.
If he puts up walls,
his walls will crumble.
If he gives up his treasures,
His treasures will be no more.
These three things bring forth everything:
Life takes its form from the strong,
and then death takes its place.
Thus the Way manifests itself,
it is not misleading.
When the Way is sought, the people
seem a little baffled.
Those who seek the Way,
they have no strength.
As for those who cling to ways and rites
they have no virtue.
This is why the Way takes place:
not by searching,
but by following.

Accepting the Tao's ways, the humble person falls; the unworthy one does not take on himself.
He who dwells quietly does not cause the world to be confused; he who gives nothing is not taken by surprise.
He who uses the gift of nature does not possess the world.
Therefore, the Tao appears in Dao, and not the other way, and is therefore deficient.
Those who possess this Tao do not oppose it.
The Tao appears, it does not show itself.

For when Tao fades,

Things that are despised are said to be the cause of evil.
