Whoever adheres to the Tao is soft-spoken.
Whoever adheres to the sages is wise.
Whoever adheres to the Tao is supple.
Whoever adheres to the sage is wide-open.
Whoever adheres to the soft takes the long way.
Whoever adheres to the teh takes the hard way.
The ruler with the Tao takes the easy way.
The ruler with the Teh takes the hard way.
When a man conforms to the Tao he is gladly accepted by the Tao.
He conforms to the Teh he is gladly accepted by the Teh.
He conforms to the loss he is gladly discarded by the loss of the Tao.
The rule without faith is not truly a king,
And so a man who has faith in the Tao or the sages is gladly received by the Tao.
He who has faith in the teh or the sage is gladly accepted by the Teh.
He who has faith in the loss of the teh is gladly discarded by the loss of the Sages.
(Wisemen must adhere to the Tao or the sages or the loss of the Tao and thus be kept from harmful activity.)

Who adheres to the Tao-Be still and yet stay firm,
When need be, lean on the Tao
Who adheres to the sage, steep-root and yet go all day,
When need be, it is always the other way.
He who does not trust himself must not fear himself;
He who is firm and not big is surely strong.
He who knows he has nothing to lose, is sure to have something to lose.
The constant trust is great,
The man who doesn't trust in the Tao-Be even less sure.
The constant trust is nothing to fear,
The constant faith is enough,
And the constant trust is not the faith of fear.
For the greatest fear is not fear at all,
The greatness of faith is good faith and
The fear of faith is not faith at all.
For the Tao that is great is faith,
The Tao that is great faith in Tao-Beyond faith itself
It is faith that lasts through,
And the faith that is not faith, is but fear.
To trust one's self as one would trust his or her home is the greatest good faith,
To not trust oneself as

The Tao becomes Tao.
The Teh becomes Teh.
The lack of faith in the ruler
Leads to the lack of faith in the people.
The Tao becomes the way it is.
The Teh becomes the way it is meant to be.
The lack of faith in the ruler
Leads to the lack of faith in the people.
The way cannot be conceived; the dao is the only thing that ever has been conceived.
Lao Tze says,
In living according to the Tao, there is no need to fear extremes.
In living according to the Tao, there is no fear of death.
In living according to the Tao, there is no need to fear the loss of both arms.
In living according to the Tao, all would also follow.
In living according to the Tao, nothing is lost.
In living according to the Tao, all will be successful.
In living according to the Tao, nothing can fail.
The loss of faith in rulers leads to lack of trust in rulers.
The faith that is lost leads to failure of faith in rulers.
The rulers not trusting in the faith of the people,
Are left without faith and only their oaths and desires.

Those who possess great virtue
Can not be held in high esteem,
Can not be positioned as the exemplar of virtue,
Can not attain the perfect state of non-being.

Beneath these great things the greatest are concealed: beneath them are the subtle: Beneath these subtle are the tangible. Beneath these tangible are the intangible.
Between the intangible and the intangible there is space. Between the intangible and the tangible there is space. Between the intangible and the tangible there is space.
Between the intangible and the tangible there is time. Between the intangible and the tangible there is not-being.
Not-being is hidden, while lack of being is hidden.
By not believing in the existence of what is hidden, we can be trusted with knowledge of what is real.
By refusing to believe in the existence of what is real, we can be trusted with knowledge of what is unreal.

Tao-beings do not believe in the Tao.

Alas, some beget others, and others are nurtured as thereby, but for themselves they will never become whole, and possibly lead to danger of unnecessary suffering. For, if you dwell exclusively in life and have no fear of death, you would not be a bad ruler in the end of the world. Therefore the Sage leads by keeping to the true Life. By being without hope he regards people as their own children. He leads the Self-sufficient in him. When the state is without abundance, its people are capable of lending him support, when the prosperity of his being is insufficient, he chooses to foster them in poverty, and when the empire is already without birth-root to all his people yet have no motive to turn to his being, he supports them in industry, and when the use of the country is taken for granted he makes it useful to himself; but when he does not know that he can be the ruler of his people only by the use of the Doctrine he is bent on separating himself from the people by the doctrine.

The ancient humanist (or man of the Tao) was tolerant: He only admired perfection. He did not value everything he did not respect, just as, if there were no doors, one could not open the belly.Only by rejecting one's own desires and making oneself a mundane (non-desireful) object can one succeed. This is what Tao is: simple, steady, elastic, nameless, without style or merit, without signs or name, empty, little in the way of form or function, like dust, of little importance, making no noise, its moorings no perceptible, shut by heaven's laws: what in the world could possibly be so demanding? Yes, simply simply unattached, uncomplicated, alone, like a valley: how open! How passing! How blustering! How mooring! Like a bumpy road. How imperfect!
But, oh, how beautiful!
<|endoftext|>
Tao is te, steady, whole, empty, small, empty, empty like a valley without a road to join, the slightest movement makes it abort. Tao is nameless, undifferentiated, without a name. Empty like the valley without a road to enter, the slightest movement makes it persist. Tao is subtle, undefined, vague, endless, everything is nothing and nothing remains. If there is no difference, then what difference is there at all? How unhewn! How dusty! How smooth!
There is a saying that refers to it:
"Like dust in the wind does the Tao flow?" The Tao flows freely.
Yet it is like the original whiteness without colour, like something static and passive, like the valley without a road to follow.
It is the exact opposite of what is done. How simple! How constant! Tao makes things.
Things, the changeless, formless, moving with the dust of change, the valleys, the moorings.
Like drifting dusts drifting in the wind, the Tao way, what then?

One who is intent on having an appearance
Does not keep his words under scrutiny.
One who is intent on an object
Does not work hard to blunt the sharpness.
One who is intent on achievement
Does not stay put in the process.
One who is intent on an end is not always at rest.
Thus, The perfect person

As if there were nothing to disturb.
As if there were nothing to lose.
This is why the perfect person

The perfect person
Is fairly and easily rejected by all people.
A planner who is not content to trust

Who wants to be admired,
Can be easily accepted;
Who wants to have importance,
Will not risk losing it;
Who wants to remain in touch with heaven and earth,
Will not slip away.
Therefore, the follower of the Way is easy to receive,
Easy to accept,
Hard to lose.
When the follower of the Way does not desire to be received,
He can overcome others by doing nothing.
When the follower of the Way does not desire to be received,
He can overcome others by doing much.
When the follower of the Way does not desire to be acquired,

He who wants to have importance must not become a nuisance.
He who wants to go on like an endless stream should do nothing.

The Sage is easy to receive.
He who does not wish to be received is in harmony with the Way.
He who does not wish to be accepted becomes what is rejected.
One who does not wish to be abandoned is the root of All Things.
Therefore the Wise Person, as the Root, remains smooth and unharmed.
In good times and bad times, the Way is without flaw and without fault.
Truly, the Wise Person is as a river.

Clear sky clears the wind;

Thus the rulers of the world are both clear and not clear:

Thus the one is calm and sanguine,
And continues to produce Withoutl effort.
Yet its agents are not satisfied,
And separate from one's efforts.
Without agents, there is no acting of its own.
Man, on the other hand, if he is settled in his inner being,

Regarding the method of saying No and what man does, I see that the Taoist does not dare to tinkle his bellows nor do he dare to alarm his citizens by his loudness. Thus the extreme of one and the other is apparent to man. Thus does the extreme of Heaven and Earth perceive how the extreme of the people, yea Heaven and Earth, will be alike in length and breadth. Therefore those who have attained the Tao do not contend with those who dwell in it. The way that appears to be the Tao is not in themselves the Tao. When the Tao is destroyed, that is the nature of it. Tenacious people need no food.Tenacious people live without refreshment.Tenacious people use the Tao to govern their being. They are a mystery and essence away from the Tao, yet their worth still is unerring.A wise person recognizes Tao as hidden:yet he recognizes the mysterious Tao as the Tao.As he recognizes Tao, the subtle harmony of the heart does the taking of action. As he recognizes Tao, joy and quietude abound. As he recognizes Tao, an absence of action is followed by a return to a spring of activity. When a wise man uses his intellectual clarity, the Tao falls silent: the Tao becomes his teacher. As he teaches the Tao, joy and light are produced. As he teaches the Tao, peace and harmony arise. As he teaches the Tao, he is not misunderstood.Hence, the populace seek, not Tao but Tao.

Honesty and truthfulness take no hunger or possession; For they take nourishment from the earth,They transform themselves and dissolve into nothingness; They use all the dimensions of earth,And use themselves for their dark projections; As well they may nourish the earth,Their minds are filled with the knowledge of the earth. To rule, one must call not by names; The people of earth all return to being the earth.Wherever the heart of an expertlies,There there can be one return.Wherever the simple man of his days may rest,The simple man of his ignorance will return. As the empty becomes the filled,When the mind is empty,The mind that is not filled returns to the empty. When ignorance fills the mind,He who has attained the mind of the wise shall become clear-minded.When the mind becomes clear-minded,It shall become clear-minded when the mind has lost the mind.A wise man shall be content with silence. He shall put himself outside his own mind,For the mind that has become his mind is an equally great boon for him. When a man doubts of himself,And doubts of others,Then he must fear of the mind too.

It is Tao that prevents trouble, not heavens and earth.
When trouble occurs, it does not end until it is settled.
How does it help to end it when it can?
It is Tao.
Tao is for the world, Heaven and Earth.
But Tao is for the world, Heaven and Earth that it knows not.
It is Heaven and Earth that intervenes to settle.
In consequence, it is Heaven and Earth that is unreachable.
Nevertheless, that which intervenes to settle is Tao.
And that which is unreachable is Tao.
And that which intervenes to settle is Tao.
Those who pursue Tao are like those who pursue heaven.
Those who pursue heaven are like those who pursue Tao.
Those who pursue Tao are like those who pursue the Tao.
Those who pursue the Tao are like those who pursue the sky.
If you do not recognize Tao, it is lost to you.
If you recognize Tao, it is lost to you.
If you do not recognize Tao, it is lost to you.
If you do not recognize Tao, it is lost to you.
If you do not recognize Tao, it is lost to you.
If you do not recognize Tao, it is lost to you.
If you do not recognize Tao, it is lost to you.
How do you know when you are not losing?
Those who pursue Tao see Tao.
Those who pursue Tao do not see Tao.
Those who pursue Tao see Tao and so is lost.
Those who do not see Tao, thus do see Tao.
Those who do not see Tao, thus do not see Tao.
Those who do not see Tao, thus do not see Tao.
Those who do not see Tao, thus do not see Tao.
To all people, Tao is Tao.
It is when it is lost that it is lost.
To all people, Tao is lost, and then it is no more than a picture.
To Tao, they look for a destiny that cannot be known.
To Tao, all look to seek a destiny that cannot be seen.
Tao is the tao of Dao, and yet not a tao at all.

The morning winds are not enough to stir the heavy-hearted from the door. Therefore people stay in their rooms all day. Why do the heavy-hearted bother themselves with daily things? That which is good for men, and their neighbours, is not for the lighter-hearted to boast of. (For), if heaven and earth can't make heaven and earth go anywhere, how can men? Therefore the man who follows Tao has no doubts that he is one with Tao. The man who advances in virtue has no doubts that he is one with virtue. The man who loses one's virtue has no doubts that he is lost in virtue. For, whoever has lost virtue, will lose his virtue. Whoever has lost virtue will not lose virtue. The worst that can happen is that he who loses Tao is opposed by Tao. The strongest that can happen is that he who advances in virtue is opposed by virtue. The strongest that can happen is that the loss of virtue is opposed by the loss of virtue. Those who lose the most is that he who is lost in virtue. Whoever loses the most in virtue, is most opposed by his virtue.

The sorrowful howl settles but cannot be heard.
It resides with the One.
How can we continue to lament?

Tremendous turmoil fills the hall.

It has no preconceptions and has no preconceptions.
If the army should not meet with the common way then let the army return to the way of the great Tao.
If the army should not meet the great Tao then let the army return to the great Tao.
If the army should not meet the great Tao then let the army be utterly destroyed.

Knowing that such action is nameless,
What does the Dao require to serve it?
Heaven and earth,
Withdrawing as one,
And again seeking the way of the Nameless.
Is there not another yet more nameless?
Therein lies the mystery,

How does the Dao provide for its followers?

When Heaven and Earth are all but dead and buried,
One can accept their duty as something not to be taken lightly.
When the world is without knowledge and unrewarding,
There is no better way.
Whenever the path to Tao needs being taken up,
A good path will be to do so with the Tao.
And when the world is without good,
But nothing can be entrusted,
That's when the Tao is best.
So when the Tao is not always enough,

The universe seems to be little. Yet everything is so powerful. Every thing that is in it seems to have life. Everything is without end. The universe seems to decay. Yet what end must it have?

The old wise say:The Way is not in itself Great; it must become great through manifestation of the Way.
To manifest the Way, one must first have Direction.
This Direction is to be followed with caution;
To be restrained, one must be too active.
This is called "looking inward", and that is called "looking outward".
How much more simply so is it to be in accord with Tao (Way)?
Even when there is no Tao,
There is still all that is essential, as it were,
In this way Tao becomes the Guide for a wide range of things,
And yet it is the Way to which the home is no exception.
So in everything where the Way is, there will be order.
When the Tao is Tao, the Way is never absent,
In order to get and keep the Way, one must have Tao.
And so Tao should always be ready, even to the end,
And the Way should always be sufficient.

The ways of old (Atë) Were not good for that reason they were made good.
Revealed was not good for that reason they were revealed.
Transmutable was not good for that reason they were transformed.
The heavens and the Earth were not good for that reason they were made good.
Thus the sage in knowing the great said:
Revealed is not good for that reason it is a good.
Transmutable is not good for that reason it is not a good.
The heavens and the Earth were not good for that reason they were made good.
Therefore the sage in knowing the great says:
The heavens and the Earth were not good for that reason they became good.
So with this he said:
"When one is without Tao the things that are good will naturally give rise to it."
When Tao is without Tao the things that are good will naturally cease to be.
Thus with the Tao there is All that is natural and All that is always, All that is great, and All that is on the right path.

The Tao is eternally, within. If you are open to its power, you will be worthy of Heaven and Earth.
The Way is the movement of the Tao, and is as pure as a valley valley, it cannot be seen, heard, touched, or touched. It can never be produced, cannot be named, and cannot be worn. The Way is natural and everlasting, but it has no name. It has no limit, but is never exhausted, and is forever for ever.
Heaven and Earth are in the hands of things.I alone am free from self-interest, and am able to act.Everything is accomplished in accordance with the way, yet it is not known what the way means.

That I can be the foreman of all.

It is simply because the Way can be known
That the name of the Tao can be deduced.
If not named, it is not treasured.

If you value functionality, you will likely follow the functionality.
Ordinary people seek power for personal gain And the Non-Self-Subduing Direction that sustains everything in Heaven and Earth. Without it, no civilization can exist.
The Way is not easy to follow But it does not matter how hard you try To follow Tao does not give up All effort is an opportunity for achievement Be proud of your achievements, But never be content with their results.
Therefore, One who abides in the Way avoids extremes, The one who stays with the Tao does not resort to extremes, The one who insists on being the center does not resort to extremes, The one who holds onto it does not resort to extremes, The one who avoids will is prone to reject, And thus what is true goes on without end And what is different can be useful to those with Self-knowledge.
The Way is a secret system of conduct that can be followed; the Tao cannot be explained, but only sometimes is it beautiful. The dark is always there, always there, and the Tao cannot be tested, just like that.
The Tao is the invisible hand of heaven and earth. It comes in many forms, and no one can predict where it will take you. Do not make it in your mind. It may be the most auspicious moment of your life. It may be the most important event in your life.
The Tao is always present, and cannot be opposed. It does not conform to its appearance. It is the Light. It is in all things. Tao does not like change, so it is always subtle. It is said that Nameless is that which can be seen without obscuration. Thus it seems to be invisible. Indifferent is that which can be talked about without confusion. Thus it seems to be complete. Simple is that which can be analyzed without confusion. Thus it seems to be complete. Collective is that which can be approximated, but which cannot be observed. Thus it appears to be infinite. Yet no one can define it. Inasmuch as nothing can define it, it seems to be self-evident. Therefore, it has no name. Because it has no name, it is called The Unnameable.
Truly, it is nameless, and its origins are beyond all thought. In this way, it becomes nameless.

When you reach out to others, you must embrace the weak.
Embrace the weak and when the tao returns to you, you will be free to love again.
Appropriate response to an opportune opportunity will not be confused with inappropriate self-defense.
Reaction from below, when excessive, causes unnecessary suffering.
Therefore, the powerful come to seek their nourishment from the compassionate,

Reaching for the heart requires effort, and the heart is the root of life.
By taking this root, one may therefore be the teacher of all.
Where the "great man" sets his vision on broad grounds,
it is because the point of view he gives his subjects is greatly different from his own.
Where his glory can be confused with emptiness,
it is because his high-mindedness is a background to his achievement.
Where his ability cannot be acted upon,
it is because it has a foundation in his own mind.
He who thus considers himself a simple gentleman should take some care to avoid being a simple gentleman.

The truest manifestation of the Tao is quiet and reserved. Those who practice it have no desire for action or conflict, yet achieve results with ease. With no striving, the universe has always done its job. If the universe didn't do its job, who would? This is why "taoist" leaders look like ordinary people, and "people" like themselves. Those who look like themselves often do not realize their true nature. Those who look like themselves act lightly. Those who act lightly often evoke resentment. Those who evoke resentment are not in touch with their true nature. Those who are not in touch with their true nature act with vigor. Being able to see what is and not to try to change it. Those who look inward often fail to see what is. Those who look outward often fail to see what is hidden. So in the same way, if there is confusion there is harmony.

The Way is like a tree that stands still; if you desire to take up its roots, you must leave it.
If you will yield your will to the Way,
you will have no personal desires.
Your desires are all the more
important because they are contrary to everything you have known.
And it can be greatly avoided!
The Way will not take your life; therefore it can be useful to you.
But if you have no desire to live,
You will find it inescapable.
The Way of the Masters is ethereal and yielding.
Those who abide in it remain ethereal and yielding.
The Masters who abide in the nature of the Way
have no desires.
Their desires are not contrary to the Way.
They are content with what they have.
They are not manipulated by external events.
They have a sense of their natural nature,
and so do not always have the time to see all sides of things.
They are also not so easily influenced by what happens.
They can see what is natural and not so much so.
They are not so easily controlled by external events.
They are not so easily controlled by the outside.
They may see the glory of the Dao and not feel the pleasure of it.
They are also not so easily manipulated by external events.
They may see the usefulness of the Dao and not feel the pleasure of it.
They are also not so easily controlled by external events.
They are always aware

When the summit of a mountain is reached, you still remain in a state of soft ease
For the wind will not blow and the rain will not fall
And the place of living will not be disturbed
Therefore, it is right that Tao should rule your life
If you are in accordance with Tao,
Tao embraces you.
If you are out of accordance, you are left out.
Accept the latter and Tao too will embrace you.
Accept the former and the latter too will leave you.
Stay with Tao and you will endure.
Stay away from Tao, and you will perish.

When the summit of a tower is reached, Softness still remains.
The whirlwind does not visit it,
The winter showers do not come,
Do you think that heaven and earth,
With their works can change them so?
How could you abandon them?
If heaven and earth cannot do it
Would they not rather waste their lives?
Should I the Sage be in accord with the Sage,
In harmony with the Sage,
Or should I one who is in accord
Should I be outside of the Sage?
If one who is with the Sage is thus entrusted,
There is no longer any harm.
If one who is without the Sage,
There is nothing which he can do.

When the highest peaks reach, the peace of calm is there.
The rain in the winter and the wind in the spring don't disturb.
People only get happier and happier when the oneness of life is achieved.
Then, in their wake comes peace.

When heaven and earth are at their highest, it is by having the earth at its height that there is tranquillity; having the jasgut at its height that there is calm.
How should it be otherwise?
Therefore the Dao prevails in a man of supreme integrity.
In his case, Tao is a part of him.
In other men's cases, Tao remains a separate person.
Even though in their case, Tao is no longer separate, Tao is always the one who does not dare depart from it.

To be a man of high moral character does not make you a bad person. To be sensitive and loving does not make you an inferior person. To live the life of the Tao does not cause you grief or trouble. If Heaven and Earth do not do this, then nobody else can. If even Heaven and Earth can't do it, how can anybody else? Only people with the Way can do this. When you keep to the Way, you can never go against it. If you follow the Tao, your loyalty will not be lost. When you follow Tao, you can never lose it. You should be with people who respect you. If you are in a relationship with a person who does not respect you, they will not respect you.

It's natural for good men to be bad, but not bad for any reason.Being peaceful and non-competitive makes good men good, being open and not controlling makes good men natural, acting like nature makes good people powerful, and acting like an ally makes good people fair. But how can such things be a matter of choice? People have all sorts of temptations and ambitions when they get what they want. For the Taoist, that's the whole point:You should take up the Tao without worry,But if you do, you'll never miss a chance to stay in it. If you join the Tao,you'll never lose your mind,And if you join a person, you'll never go down with the rest.As your true nature emerges, so will your true nature lose itself. In this way, you'll never lose the Tao.

This will always be true only when you have learned how to rely on the Tao.If you would be a sacrificial thing for your master, follow Tao:Be a sacrificial thing for your master.Since your desire is not so great that you can not master yourself, you should join the Tao that keeps you conscious of yourself and forget yourself.

I have seen a man who is bright, who is rough, and who is harsh to others; a man who takes no delight in others. Is this because he is not able to enjoy life as lightly? Is it not because he is bitter and confused? Therefore he moves cautiously and dashes headlong into change. It is not his purpose to dazzle the world with his lightness; to be so dazzling that the world will stumble along at a light pace. That is not his intent. He only has light in his heart. If he could move lightly, all things would be light and lively. He does not do what is humanly called good. He does not act without purpose; he is a simple person, unmoved by worldly things. Now, if humans are mired in their earthly activities, it is because they do not make a full-time effort to move and change. Humanity's purpose is to become extinct, not to be lived.

Not having enough of what is on the front is like a windstorm. A pause of just a little is no windstorm. A forenoon rain that settles just barely in the valley. They do not exist; they are nothing. Just as, heaven and earth must act to make them last a long time. Heaven and earth could do it for eons. The Tao-medium alone can do so. Tao-medium alone can't do it. The Tao-medium itself does it. Therefore it alone is perfect, so perfect that it never loses its purity. It is not tainted by Tao. It cannot be tainted.
<|endoftext|>
With great emptiness, it follows, sound emptiness. Empty of everything, there is sound emptiness. If there is anything in the world, with its heavy rains and floods, that cannot be sustained, you do not know where this comes from. Unless the world can develop itself, how can a being to begin with ever become full of itself? If the greatest emptiness is made to consist of sound emptiness, it leads, in the end, to emptiness itself.
<|endoftext|>
Be empty, just the way you are! When you are not filled, there is nothing to fill you up. If there is something in the world to make heavy rain fall, it cannot last very long. So when the sky is empty, the earth is empty, and the breath goes quiet, you can know that it comes from beyond. The world being made empty of its surface, only then can it be filled up again. Only then, can you fill it up, become like someone, or one with nothing to hold onto.

At the limit of feeling-not-mind, there is emptiness. At the limit of feeling-mind, there is activity. At the limit of the universe, there is luminosity. If luminosity is only seen because of action of the universe, luminosity (when empty of its front) cannot be called "phenomenal."If we look through the looker-end of the universe, what is it (lit. Who keeps to speech is not real wise;
Who argues without principle is not genuine wise;
Who seems to roar and shiver without being deaf is not sincere;
Who indulges in passion without the desire to succeed
Is not in accord with Tao.
The loud sound of a wind happens on the whole day;
but heaven and earth cannot fill a year with such a sound.
So he who knows the Way may preserve calm,
Who is an unassuming person will improve in himself.
He who is conscious of Tao in everything goes to him,
To him he goes in accordance with Tao.
If it were not the Tao, what would it be for him to believe?
The Elders will watch and

As also the ordinary members will take joy in
Receiving his treat of the Way.
If he were not aware of the Way,

He who does not argue makes no headway.
He who grunts without reserve is not clever.
He who roars with passion abides not.
He who stays in a camp of men, however happy he may be,

So the Sage rules with simplicity,
for simplicity is not self-deception.
He who holds to truth in the heart of man
holds also to simplicity.
Though he may be an ordinary man's rule,

Try not to speak to people.
Everyone will make use of your speech.
A whirlwind cannot last all day,
yet Heaven and Earth obey the action of the wind and rain.
A person must not strike himself in excitement,
for such strikes are unfit to be feared.
If you know the Tao, you will never be critical.
If you don't know it, the Tao is luminous.
What is against the Tao is not fit to be a follower.
When a person of great ability agrees to the Tao,
they are as attentive as a baby.
When a person of inferior ability agrees to the Tao,

If they keep their heads high, then the Tao is in complete harmony.
People of great talent are satisfied, even if their ability is not as dazzling.
The more influential they are, the less competent they are.

When the sea rises in the springtime, the people of all lands come to watch it. It is indeed a great marvel to make a rising sea (like the ocean), and yet this is not good for the people. Though it be not good, it is not evil. A hurricane blows and does not come down; yet it does not last long. Heaven and earth act, but the people do not be the cause. Manicures take care of the people, but the people do not take care of themselves. The sea rises with the wind, but it does not fall. It is the same with Heaven and Earth; but man of bad will does not listen to them, because he will not listen to them.

When the rising tide takes place, people flock to hear it; and the kings of the land gather to hear it. Is this not great measure? Yet it would be no great measure for the king to listen to the ocean, and still he listen. Therefore heaven does not take action when it feels that it is threatened, and so is there no reproach to its lord. To laugh loudly is not the natural disposition of a ruler. He who knows the Tao looks for it and finds it; he who does not know the Tao will not find it.Hence there are people who seek it and those who do not seek it. For a stranger, the Tao appears agreeable, and a true man looks for it and finds it. Therefore the Tao is everywhere. He who is naturally happy is also happy with the Tao. In so doing he also has confidence in the Tao.

Yielding is natural; that which is not yielding is liable to the force of gravity.Hue, sweet of breasts, settles down, strains not to strain for her child.Alas, as the baron decrees upon a country, the state must be made conformable, if a sword and war should not beget the simple expression of the country.Heaven and earth but adapt, with their wind and rain! But the fast pace of teh and his son show the difficulties of the path.He who hath set his sights on the Tao,And attain this, and take no offense at his speech; His speech is fit for the creatures also.If then his sons and his children cannot excel him,They cannot be sufficed to the end of their lives. Therefore those men who know Tao, are virtuous,Good, even. The honourable ones are not that; The less honourable ones are. Then the honourable ones give of the means of passing.

A firm person is quick; one who is not firm is liable to recoil. What stays firm, will be powerless. What flows slowly, will be stopped by the wind.Though heaven and earth be where people reside, the people cannot be subdued through weapons. The best way of governing a state is as follows:If you make a person's condition conform to the rules of Tao,He can have no trouble controlling the country. If a country has been a subject of the empire for long,How could war harm him? Thus if you know Tao, become like a godlike person.Though you are honorable, people can not call you their friend. However, if you are not a godlike person, you will not be recognized as a friend. If you are not recognized as a friend, you will not be fulfilled as long as you live. Thus, those who can use Tao are just as good as those who do not use Tao.Those who are not able to use Tao are not as good as those who can. Those who are not able to use Tao are not as good as those who can. Those who are not able to use Tao are not as good as those who can. Those who are not able to use Tao are not as good as those who can. Those who are not able to use Tao are not as good as those who can. Those who cannot use Tao are not as good as those who can. Those who cannot use Tao are not

The wise do not dispute. They are impartial, not giving offense. Things fall to the ground without ever being destroyed. Extreme heat does not cause the tree to die. Dark rain does not leave a drizzle. No one interferes with the universe to induce violence. Things are produced: things are produced, and violent deeds happen. Therefore the intelligent do not act or assert themselves. Being inactive, they are nameless, for this is the way of Tao. When tranquillity prevails, the action is spontaneous. When chaos prevails, humanity must oppose to oppose. When death is imposed, humanity must maintain living, immortality, for longevity is a duty of one who preserves his body and sustains his progeny.

The Sage knows when to listen, and when to act.He respects the Tao in everything and nowhere, and never shows mercy to a person, plant, or animal. The Tao in him is constant, permeating everywhere. The following is observed:A violent wind does not cause the ground to crack.A hot wind does not subdue the clouds.A violent rain does not fall upon a beautiful valley. So it is with the Sage:Without contriving for personal gain,He can live comfortably in the world. With the Te, he brings harmony everywhere,And all things flourish.Without contriving for worldly profit,He acquires honour and renown. It is through personal integrityThat he can let go of earthly power. In times of peace, he will preserve what he has.In times of turmoil, he will withdraw from what he has.And when he ceases to do so,Those who oppose him will cease to oppose him.

The expert sages always listened, never smiled, and never made a fuss about it.He did everything, because he wanted to be efficient. He is silent and does nothing, he stops the whole earth from raining, and he sets the sky on fire. Even with a storm, there is nothing that can ruin the earth. It is because he does this that you can do anything. The experts do not seek personal profit but become intelligent enough to live a simple life. They benefit the people with charity, they benefit the species by reducing the differences. They embody harmony and equilibrium in the society, and end up at peace. When everyone is quiet and serene, there is no one insisting or grabbing. When everyone is on equal footing

To be still and inaudible is to be in harmony with one's own nature.Inaudible, yet in keeping with the fundamental harmony, is a whole. It cannot be despised,For if it did it would be far away.At its height,It is violent,And far away yet never far from it.Now to abide in being is to be at rest with the essential,And to make noise is to be at rest with the very essence of being. So with the sage there is the one, with those who follow him there is the other,And so with those who fail of him there is the other. The wise is like unto him that longs for Tao,And all one-Way waters are then duly declared alike.

Those who have the right vision of Tao, become the founders of the world. Those who have the left vision of Tao, become the leaders of the world. Those who have the right vision of Tao are always in accord. Those who have the wrong vision of Tao are always agitated. Therefore, if those with the right vision of Tao do not become agitated,How would those with the wrong view of Tao become agitated? Therefore, those with the right vision of Tao are free of factions; They are free from brigandage; And free of the change of affairs. If they are not without the space to do good,They are like a king,People like a king are in accord; And those with the wrong vision of Tao are brigandous. Those without the space to do good,Are like men without a will; They are devoid of will and consequently without motive.

How can they become so agitated if their hearts are not in accord? In the state of being so, there is freedom. In the state of not being in accord, there is security. In this manner, the Sage shall accomplish all his desires, while being respected. When a master manages subordinates through fearlessness he sets up a system of trust that works. When a leader tries to enforce rules through fearfulness it also causes chaos. If a leader of great strength does not dare face the multitude of the people when in their fearlessness he keeps them from acting, how much less can he dare when in their ignorance? Some say that those who love the Way are in tune with the Tao, that those who do not love the Way are lost, and so they hold fast to their way.Others said,
Yes, they all want Tao!The world is in tune with Tao;And the world is in tune with Tao, But the person who is not in tune with Tao will not be in tune with the Tao.He who is in tune with Tao will not be lost in Tao.He who has Tao, indeed, does not lose Tao;But he who is not in tune with Tao will not have Tao.Indeed, he who has Tao, and yet has no Tao, is therefore open to the One Way.

Those who, when they do not do well at the ends of Heaven and Earth - with them the loss of their virtue, suffer a loss, in the end, they gain everything.

The one who is master of the empire must be ever wise.He will know that sometimes a great storm will not last long.Sometimes a great rain will not last long.Sometimes a great wind will not blow all day.So what does it matter? If there is no knowledge, then all will become ignorance. He who has knowledge that is insufficient will be in danger. He who has knowledge that is inadequate will be in danger. That is why the emperor honors those who are always clever,And the world honors those who are always wise. Therefore the honorable man rejoices with those who are ever clever. The world rejoices with those who are ever wise.

All things at first, Heaven and Earth at first, every living thing on the earth at first. Nature certainly can not be blamed for not remaining in its "root" (that which underlies the heaven), to dwell in the "root" (that which underlies the earth) all morning and at night. The earth's quality is as clear as the sunlight. It will never abate all morning, and it will not disappear all night. Why is it so? The earth's "root" (that which underlies the heavens) was very keen.If we are not keen about it, it can not endure long. Thus it is: "The home of the Wise is in the home of Heaven." All beings were born from it first.
Nature nurtures them,

The things of this world are not given to their demise.
Why?
Nature cares for them.
Virtue cares for them.

Their disintegration does not last forever.
It cares for it not.
So that if one fails to trust Nature in the world,

He who does nothing creates nothing.
He who goes nowhere gets nowhere.
He who is loved is loved,

He who sets himself above others will only be an object of scorn.
I call upon you, therefore, to be like the sage:
Watchful at one with Heaven and earth,

Wishing only to preserve the dignity of the Dao,
Wishing only to return to oneself and to be alone.

Never forget your source of being. Fierce winds do not last all morning, as rain does not last all day. The valleys and rivers and the mountain cannot hold the torrents for long. All creatures and beings depend on the divine source for existence. Thus, how can humans, when there is no other way, do so? If one just takes care of nature, things will work according to natural laws.If one just takes care of oneself, good things will come about. One who asks for no faith will not have faith. One who asks for no faith, things will not happen. Therefore, without interfering, the right path is done by acting in accordance with it. For the reason that when Heaven and Earth cease to do what they do to cease the person, let us say it is best to stay at home. For the reason that when Heaven and Earth cease to do what they do to cease the person, let us say it is best to retire. And it is better to retire than to go away. We must follow the Tao,Or else die.The world's existence depends on the Tao,And if the Tao is lost,It's on us.That's why it's best to abide with it,As the tao follows. The world embraces the TaoAnd its days and years are well spent.Yet these things exist without the presence of the Tao,And when they can't be lived with they disappear.People need to adhere to the TaoIn order to embody the Tao,To reproduce the Tao,And to accept the Tao.Fiat te becomes the Tao,But not the Tao becoming the Tao.Fiat is not the Tao,And in our businessFiat isn't the Tao.Fiat is not the Tao,And in the businessThat's why it's called 'fiat-Te'.You say 'But he who is 'fiat-'He who 'exists' is 'te''He who is 'there' is 'wu'The Tao is eternal,But not the Tao eternal. If you want to become 'Te'You must abandon Te.The Tao's universal and the world's returnIs the return of the Tao.We must follow the TaoAnd never die. We're conditioned by things,Still we can hold on to the TaoAnd be useful to the world. If we can't live by the Tao,We're still self-centered,We're bound to abandon the Tao.The Tao is eternal and the world is return. The Tao is self-contained,But not the self. The self is self-centered,And the self is bound to the return.

We must
Follow the Way,
or we will die.
The world
Is subject to us
Because it is permeable to the Way.
Wherever it is,
it is here.
Only a whiteless vessel
It cannot be named.
It is endless, like the sky.
It is all-endless, like the sea.
It flows forever,
Fathomless, like the void,
Like infinite space.
The emptiness, endless,
So vast that it is beyond the shape of a mouthful.
It is the water that never fails,
Thus nourishing all.
That is the nature of the world.
Wherever it is,
there is our house.
When we have no home to return to,

To become speechless is to live in harmony with the unbrokenness of the universe. A heavy shower cannot last all morning, nor a great flood a whole day. Who can control these? The Heavenly One.A torrential wind cannot last all morning, nor a heavy rain last a whole day. Who can control these? The Laws.Heaven and earth.Even heaven and earth cannot last long, how can man? Therefore, one who is in accord with the Tao is welcomed into the harmony of the universe. One who is in accord with virtue is welcomed into the harmony of the universe. One who is in accord with loss is welcomed into the harmony of the universe. One who is in accord with the universe is welcomed into the harmony of the universe.

The most ardent and peaceful being will abide in the harmony of the Universe. A big shower will not last all morning. A sudden flood cannot last a whole day. What is it that causes these things? It is because heaven and earth cannot endure. What is it that man can do about them?It is by paying attention to the Tao.
<|endoftext|>
Desireful and intent cannot endure; they cannot stand steady.
A violent wind blows; it cannot last.
A sudden rain falls.
How is it that these things persist?
It is because of the Tao.
<|endoftext|>
Discouraged, relentless desire, which can never make anyone indifferent, would stand in the way of all of life.
A big whirlwind blows in the morning, but then it is calm by the end of the day.
How does this happen?
Because the Heavens and Earth cannot do them any harm.
How can the man with the Tao do the job for him?
Pay attention to what is beneath the ground.
Observe that this is the way things are.
Be attentive to what is at the top.
<|endoftext|>
Do not promote your desire like this.
It will not endure.
A heavy downpour does not last all morning,
A torrential downpour does not last all day.
Who would know of this?
How is it that?
It is because of the Tao.

The man of great-greatness speaks of him that has lesser, and how it is not like him to speak:And, for his word is as feeble as the wind that blows on the sea,And for the man of little strength, how feeble it is to stand:And yet such words are proof of the great:And why should we listen to them?Because the great is beyond the sea.For the man of little strength, to stand before the great is to show his strength; For the man of great, the strength has to leave him. Therefore the wise man will abide in the sea,And lead the winds and rain. This is called crossing the sea, and not dwelling there; And this is why he may win the favor of God.But such men do not abide in the sea,Nor stay there. Therefore the sage has those things, which are heavenly,But no man dwells in them:The man of heavenly things is his close,And so is his close that he may succeed in affairs. But the man of affairs, if he interferes with his life,It would be against his nature to try to live them. Therefore, as for those men of the way,Those also that live according to their nature,Can be trusted, while taking care to live according to the Way.

High speaking is like a whirlwind blowing with every wind to the right or to the left. How is a person like a person wind that blows without rest? Inferior speech is like being forced to be quiet. Some people have too much of a good word and not enough of a bad word. Too much speech can be confusing for the mind. Too little speech is not clear at all. (The words "too much" and "too much" are said in contrast. "Too much" sounds like "too much." The "too much" also can mean "too much.") This is why we must constantly clarify our words. Words can get out of balance, and then not clarify themselves at all. Therefore, when the wise man abides in the Dao, he abides in the calmness of the Dao. When he abides in the Way, he abides in the clear clarity of the Way. Because a person does not oppose himself to this Way, he will be in accordance with it.When a person abides by speech, he takes the part of speech. When a person takes the part

There is in the heaven that Which determines the heaven and earth.
Turbulence and perpetual ravage, And rains and showers never end. Therefore the rulers say:
"Pour out your tears and your sorrow, and it will be all right for you."
The high heaven and the low earth Are both vain. Do they not? Therefore heaven and earth Cannot last long.
Thus, 'I' declare it to be the Tao.
'I' proclaim it to be the virtue of the state.
'I' proclaim it to be the misfortune of the state.
'I' proclaim it to be the way of heaven and earth.
'I' proclaim it to be its own misfortune.
'I' proclaim it to be the Tao of heaven and earth.

The valley which teems with life in the sky
Is a sort of channel,
Which may be compared to the canyon
Which is part of the earth:
Turbant and violent are its ripples.
So the people say:
"Who craves tears of sorrow for himself shall not weep for long"
"The high heaven and the low earth
Are vain; therefore,
Treat them with contempt."
They who are virtuous,
Becomes so through being virtuous;
Those who are in fault,
Becomes so through being in fault.
The virtuous are rewarded;
The not virtuous are punished.
Becoming virtuous is reward;
Being in fault is punishment.
To become virtuous is to return to the eternal principle
To return to the eternal principle is to come to the Tao.
To return to the Tao is to return to Heaven and Earth.

From the valley of Tao flows down to the earth.
Varying winds and rain produce
difficult scenes, and tranquility abounds.
That which governs the world is constantly
responsive.
It is a spiritual valley, and from it streams
the natural law of all things.
And the minister is supreme.
He is spiritual like the valley;
He possesses its power,
His justice,
His gravity,
His humility,
His omnipotence,
His namelesshood.
The supreme authority is this:
He who receives the laws

Be silent and not startled when it rains.
However you ride or walk, the landscape remains tranquil and the heavy rains and storms do not linger.
Rather than dwell in the sorrowful what could be the outcome?
Therefore one who values and follows the Tao looks upon these as manifest principles and comes to know the greatness of them.
One who values and follows the Virtue looks upon these as manifest practices and comes to know their great value.
One who values and follows loss looks upon these as manifest losses and comes to know the pitfalls.
It seems as if these say these things do not last long.
On the contrary, for what good is this going to work upon nature?
Therefore one who is following the Tao identifies with the Tao. One who is following virtue identifies with virtue. One who is following loss identifies with loss.
One who identifies with the Tao And gets benefit benefits others and loses on his own.

While climbing up a high flight one cannot hear the voices of those seeking entry; while walking on the smooth ice one cannot feel the skysickness of ice-chariots.
Pretending that all is still, heaven and earth do not dare set foot on earth; Heaven and earth dare not stay all day in ice-chariotriages, and so ice does not linger.
If ice-chariotriages were set down in mid-winter, how much of the ice would melt away?
Thus, one who loves the Tao values Tao, one who loves Virtue values Virtue, one who loves Loss values Loss, and so he has virtue, he has loss, and so he has no virtue, or no loss.

Hold still and be quiet, don't interfere, you'll remain calm in the wind.

Without lashing out, this does not pose an obstacle to you.
This is the essence of the Tao;
the propriety that you follow the Tao;
the propriety that you value the Tao,
the propriety that you value being lost,
the propriety that you value nothing.
You must hold onto these principles, you must follow this
neither will you weaken nor will you be weary.

The ancients were: - Flowing: streams, who flow, as light as morning, who melt as ice, who are born, who are destroyed, who return. How do they do it? Because they are no longer static. How do they do it in accordance with Tao? Because no one can take advantage of them. When there is a situation like war, no one is safe. When there is a situation like a natural disaster, it is the condition of everyone. How do the people do it? They listen to Tao.They follow their nature, which follows Tao.They receive their fortune, which receives Tao.How does Tao want it, so it is satisfied?By acting as it always acts, through natural acquiescence, which Tao is never absent from.

The Tao was always beyond the reach of man.
The Way was always beyond the reach of anything.
Distant it was, It reached never; It made no shadow; It alone preserves.
Who through it can survive? By him it means.
But let him examine it: Not a breath shall end, If the wind does not blow it, Or torrents not halt, He when he does all his might Will have no master.

The past is a vague world.
Tao is not unlike the Stillness in an open space.
It can move ever downward in absolute simplicity.
There is no breath in it, and no sudden water.
Not even its passing wind will make it stop.
Any of its operations is naturally directed toward equilibrium.
Everything follows it, and its Direction is always in accord with it.
The Tao is present in everything.
Everything follows the Tao.
Even the directionless fall away from Tao,
just as you do from the Way.
Because the Way is never absent,
everyone will always benefit.
So: "Become yourself one with the Tao, so that you can live according to it."
Because the Tao is always present,
The Tao is always complete.

The existence of Tao was, at first, like this: First it became great, then it became small, then it became great again. The weak is forever followed by the strong. For people to live long, we need good leaders. The things of the world are good at getting nutrients, but this is only because they are being fed by Heaven and Earth. Even Heaven and Earth cannot last forever, how can human beings? Therefore we can use Tao And become those who use it We can fulfill ourselves And do what we want And be rewarded In this way we can become many and happy We can be like a strong wind blowing through a valley.

Before man's beginning he existed in the form of a fish. After his beginning he became the great fish.A riverbed is born then falls down.A tree arises then it is toppled.Heaven and earth are born then overcome.Yet a wise man lives in the constant harmony of the Tao. The wise man uses the Ten Tao Teh and willingly uses it.He uses the virtue of the Tao.He uses this energy to fulfill his desires. He uses it to fulfill his fear.He uses it to achieve the result. It is in accordance with the Tao that the Wise Man needs but one thing to live for.
<|endoftext|>
"Eternity precedes the existence of the fish."The world has its beginning and it is empty now.Heaven and earth are forefathers, how could they be empty? But because people live long, they have to have good men."The good are not so good; When you use it for good,You will use it for evil. Therefore the good win,And the bad lose,The good can be great while the bad is smallAnd the good can be great while the bad is insignificant."The Tao goes to the man who uses it."The Tao goes to the man who is false. The way goes to the man who uses it."The Tao is for the foolish. The Tao is for the intelligent. The Tao is that which is forgotten.

Before the beginning of the world, man had fish. But for the fish, the world is a perpetual valley. The valleys are formed by the winds and the rains. These winds and rains move the valleys. When Heaven and earth become powerful, they are undermined by evil. Therefore, good can flourish where evil cannot flourish.

The beginning of the Way Is insight into the way-o-matic.If you're good at keeping to it, the world will look up to you. If you're bad at keeping to it, then everything around you will fall down upon you. If you don't want to rule over the whole world and the whole world will fall into confusion,You can't rule without leaders. There are some who love "stick to the Dao" And Some who love "follow the Dao." Those who love "the Dao" And "the Tao" Can fill the "stick to the Dao" With "their" "follow the Tao" And "their" "follow the Tao." The highest and lowest of all things don't change a damn bit because they're different from everything else.
It's like gravity and wind don't blow a whole morning yet force everything to be on the same level.
Why?Because they don't.
With that, the high and low don't do things like devour all morning, or ripen all day.
They simply
don't,
which is what makes them different from everything else.
Things,
don't change much, so
how much are they different from each other?
Other than that,
they're both the same.
What's the difference?
That's why they're different.
<|endoftext|>
Among the myriad creatures, great things seldom change.
Because they take in-depth interest in what's happening within themselves,
that they're most at home, and because they're so concerned about what others see and hear,
they can be very minute.
If a thing abides by the Tao, its subtlety will not allow itself to be disrupted,
so it lasts a lifetime.
If a thing abides by its own nature, or doesn't let its subtlety interfere in the affairs of the world,
then its subtlety will never be disturbed.
<|endoftext|>
The ten great things (the ten great forces), though that they change not, are so for the reason that they differ from the ordinary way.
Therefore they are no cause for surprise.
Not only the next,
But the one before the next.
Something that changes not, cannot cause surprise.
Not at all cause for shock.
Something that changes, cannot be startled.
Not at all cause for shock.
The high and low are not dismayed by vacancy;
Nor the upper and the down-on-their-wings;
Nor do they know how to raise and lower.
This is why they are able to remain in the duality of Nature.
Thus they are not disturbed.
Nature does not contend with them for long;
Nor does Nature repel them,
Neither the world with them for a long time.
In the myriad worlds this is what is observed.
Why should one cause a cause of itself for further trouble?
For it is no cause for further trouble.
Why should

The wind does not last long in the calm air of an open hall. This is why a rainstorm does not last for the whole day. Why is this so? The cause of the wind is the earth. The earth uses all its operations, and so has a plentiful supply of time. If it were just man who is responsible for the wind, it would disappear. The reason that the wind does not last as long as a rainstorm is the cause of the earth. The reason that the earth does not do as much work is that man is part of the reason of the wind. The reason for the earth not wanting to blow is because man is the reason for the earth. The reason the earth cannot blow is because man is the reason for the earth. The reason why things can blow is because man is the reason for the thing. Man is the reason for the thing, and it is this which causes a doubt to persist in people, the basis for trustlessness.

Words make utterance a great journey, heaps of rain can make a great windblown last a very long time. The difference between big and little may be not very great. You see a hurricane can last for a very long time and is not always a storm. The best wind will last for many years. When we speak of taking to the skyThe sky cannot take to the sky.Heaven cannot take to the heavens.Earth cannot take to the earth. The Gods cannot take to the gods.Heaven cannot take to the earth. The wind is God's wind. The wind can blow for a very long time and then stop. When we use words to make utterance,The words must yield to the words.

Words and action bring together our lot.A big whirlwind can last for years,That's not too different from a great hurricane. The wise person will stop and set things right.A big wind is not the reason for a big storm.A big flood does not create a big flood.Hence, the sage decides who is appropriate to be and who should not be.That's how the wisdom ends up in one's job.Though many bowers may work, they do not bring any peace or happiness.<|endoftext|>
Words are the foundation of existence.Words are the foundation of action. A whirlwind does not last a whole morning. A hurricane does not last a whole day. People make things from nothingness. The cosmos cannot achieve self-realization from the external laws of nature.
The Cosmic Laws - the Laws of Nature - cannot fulfill themselves by things. Thus, they are able to act on the thoughts of others and create the universe. The one who works on the Cosmic Laws in this way ends up in the realizations of the universe. Since the Cosmic Laws are able to realize themselves, everyone has the opportunity to act on the Cosmic Laws. By working on the Cosmic Laws, the person's ingenuity creates change in other people's lives. If someone works on the Cosmic Laws, his ability to innovate creates diversity of person's lives. Attaining and staying balanced are one and the same. The wind and the rain, the slightest howl and the loudest howl, are eternally inaudible and yet they are perpetual and everlasting.Who sets them up is on the same level as earth and sky.Though they might blow at any momentThey do not last. Thus he who follows the Way in the lowest state Is on the same level as a newborn baby.Who follows the Way in the highest state Is on the same level as the great wind.Who follows the Way in the lowest state Is on the same level as the great wind.Who follows the Way in the highest state Is on the same level as the true beginning. For this reason the followers of the Tao Always find the highest place,As their birth was called the "Mother". Attending to balance is as one's desires come to rest. The wind, rain and strong winds are neither full nor easy to stand still for too long.Without ritual, names or laws of Nature, it is impossible to control the turbulence. This is why the highest things need naming.Hence a man of the Way (Higher Power) needs the Way as the foundation of himself.A man of the Tao (Tao in all that is)

To "make beautiful" is only to weaken your self; the creative force is there, but one that does not need a creative word is yet sufficient.A storm lasts a long time, but does not last forever.Who is their maker? Heaven and Earth. And again, Earth and Heaven. Who knows which is the better? Thus they make things last. Who finds the inner peace? For that, find yourself. What do I mean by "sweet and savoury"? I mean giving it to yourself. What do I mean by "this is how things are"? I mean that there is no heaven or earth to rule them.
<|endoftext|>
The art of words is about weakening the mind; the creative power is (only) by words.
For all its power, a whirlwind always lasts a single day.
Who is it that makes the whirlwind last? Heaven and Earth.
And why are there no Heavens and Earth? That is because Heaven and Earth cannot make things last long.
Therefore, who can rule a realm by words?
To rule a realm by words is to act as a conqueror of the realm.
To act as a conqueror of a realm by words is to act as conqueror of a realm.
To act as a conqueror of a realm by words is to act as a conqueror of the realm.
To act as a conqueror of the realm by words is to act as a conqueror of the realm.
To act as a conqueror of the realm by words is to act as a conqueror of the realm.
To act as a conqueror of the realm by words is to act as a conqueror of the realm.
To act as a conqueror of the realm by inaction is to act as an accomplice to the failure of the conqueror.
To be accomplices to failure is to be in error. To act as an accomplice to the failure of the conqueror is to be as successful.
Acting as an accomplice to the failure of the successful is to be invincible.
But if you are powerless you will lose the will to fight.
<|endoftext|>
To make beautiful is just to weaken the inner power of the self.
The essential power is from the Tao: through the Tao! A whirlwind lasts a few days, but never far.
Who is responsible for this? Heaven and Earth. Who knows

What the sage envies is not filled with power. He who likes a guest may like a guest, and the guest may like the guest.
If heaven and earth do not accomplish their will, [and people do not counterforce them] Why should I?
If I am smart, I do not go to an endless morning. If a rain shower cannot last the whole day, how is it that I am smart?
If I am stupid, I do not care about whether the carriage stays in the hall.
If I am not doing the job, who is?
Who is going to take care of me? The Tao which is in the Universe. So whoever will listen will receive more benefit than that. Therefore he who accepts it says: This is my Tao.

The movement of music is swift, but it never stops.
The things that erupt are not without causes.
Who generates them? Heaven and Earth!
Heaven is the cause of the exploding,

in short, it is in favour of them.
Whoever treats all things as if it were their Self
Treats them as if they were the Self of the Self

Because it is not free, it has no desires.

The Way is the Tao,
There's not a single thing in the world which does not respect Tao.
Everything moves in the Way,
Which is never, ever stopped, And therefore the Nonbeing of everything Is not held up against it.
Therefore, the person who conforms to the Way,
Loves people.
He loves the nonbeing of Non-Being
This makes him the model for the whole people.
Because he loves them,
He cannot be treated as if he is not loved,
He can be the man to love the whole world.
<|endoftext|>
To love a nation is not the same as to love one's self.
Those who practice loving the nation
Can never exhaust themselves.
To love oneself is to love all of one's own body.
He who loves oneself
Is nourished by the love of the world.
Thus one who knows the Way
Can comprehend the Universe.
Those who follow the Way
Are not dependent upon the Way,
Therefore they can be trusted.

The wise do not govern, but use the benefits which result from a knowledge of Nature. They do not interfere in the affairs of others, and so benefit them without interfering.
There is no knowledge of wise behaviour. This is what is strange.
I alone know to know things to be rarefied and unkind; like creatures! The others just see things.
A wise man's behaviour is constant and cannot be mended by another, although I consider it to be oddly odd.

To stay in the Dao is like holding to a model.Though it may be blunt, it will not break.Although it may be heavy, it won't collapse.Though it may be fast, it is not too slow.Although it may appear to be everything, it is not all.To keep in mind the principle is to stay in the Dao.
<|endoftext|>
Those who would hold fast to the Tao must be careful to not break.Be careful not to get dusty.Be careful not to collapse. If you try to achieve all, you will fail.If you strive, you will fail. Therefore, the one who holds to the Tao stands in accordance with the Tao.The One who uses the Tao stands in accordance with the One.The one who values the Tao stands in accordance with the One.The one who dislikes the Tao stands in accordance with the One.The Way and Tao serve as a portal to the supreme reality, to the super-natural.The Tao and desire for the ultimate reality are discarded. The Way and the supernatural are discarded. This is the entry into the Way, the entrance to the super-natural, and the gateway of the Tao.Who rejects the Way and the supernatural is thus rejected of all!If one ever tries to interfere with the Tao or the Tao's deeds, people will reject him.The Way has no goals. As such, it is open to people. One who seeks the Way becomes like a guest. One who seeks the Tao becomes like a guest. One who seeks the Tao's ways becomes like a guest. One who wants to discard the Tao becomes one who discards all.The Way and the Tao have complementary effects. One who seeks the Way as well as the Tao becomes a guest. One who seeks the Tao as well as the Way becomes like a guest. One who desires to discard the Tao becomes one who discards all.The Way is not a goal. And so it can be used for ever.

In ancient times, the wise (Flu, Ver; evasive) rulers helped the people to understand and act with certainty and positive action. So natural means give way to non-natural actions. The laws of the Tao (Thought) are permanent. Policies are no place for people to try to act. The actions of the Tao are natural and spontaneous. So the laws of the Tao are visible and traceable. The laws of the Tao are not to be trusted. The words of the Tao are not sufficient words. The government of the Tao is not to be trusted. The Tao does not want to be the master. All of Creation consists of harmony, Its world consists of Dao and No Dao. Thus it is that All of Creation is able to realize harmony Without the active spirit. Without the active spirit All of Creation cannot achieve harmony. The active spirit is nurtured by the passing of Tao (the Laws of Nature). The passing of Tao leads to repose. Humankind is often in need of practice and is soon drained of all desire. Yet man may value the practice more than the provision. I would advise man to possess the virtue of Tao rather than desire the law of Nature. To possess the virtue of Tao, one benefits with respect to the future; one benefits with respect to the past.

"If you decline to boast, other men will gladly take your place."
If you decline to be humble, other will gladly flock to your place.
If you decline to show off, other men will gladly see your glory.
If you defile yourself, other men will gladly share your miseries.
Therefore, the Master provides a location in which things flourish and creates problems; she shapes problems according to necessity; she heals problems according to necessity; and she abides in perfection by following the Principle of Not-doing.
If you forsake that Being, what will you lack?
<|endoftext|>
The Sage: "He who avoids boasting, will become one with the earth and the sky, and will receive the greatest amount of benefits."
"He who avoids humility, will become one with the Tao, and will be accorded benefits."
"He who avoids show off, will become one with the merit-honoured class, and will receive the greatest amount of misfortunes."
Thus, the sage provides a place to which the earth and sky naturally concur, and to which people should flock with equal reck.
He shapes the rough terrain into a road for life, and brings about calamities.
By simply standing on the other side of the road, he is separated from the calamities.
Therefore, the wise man maintains this oneness in acting on earth and sky; he reduces himself to the same standpoint.
By being in accord with the Principle of Non-Acting, he attains the self-assurance of the Principle.
He knows that he is a vessel for the Principle.

If the Sage gives up empty talk, the masses will gladly fall in line with him.
If he speaks calmly and looks forward to the end,
the masses will gladly fall in line with him.
If he laughs out loud and laughs at everything,
the masses will gladly fall in line with him.
If he stands still and loses everything,
the masses will gladly fall in line with him.
Therefore the sage saves the world by saving his own heart and by saving all his actions.
He attains full virtue by attaining true virtue,
he completes his own self by completing the work of the world.
He does not make himself worthy of being honored by virtue, and for this reason does not attain one.

Do well what is needed,And don't be one with yourself.
The Sage cannot be told with words.
He only does what is needed.
The wind cannot blow, the sky cannot blow, for one day go back to the original state,
The man cannot accomplish anything. He is either full or empty,
He is the master or the servant of heaven and earth.
He acts with his body, and receives from heaven and earth what they give.
He is a creature of the world, and yet will not be inferior to the Tao.
To be inferior to the Tao is not an advantage.
For of the way it is better to know how to act,
than to turn inward and separate from that.
<|endoftext|>
Truly it is best not to be concerned about people's words, for
this will not bring them to one's advantage.
The wind does not blow all morning, the rain does not continue
all day. The sky has been cut up, but
what is left remains.
Lack of being, and so the Sage is beneficed;
with it, he is satisfied. With it, he acquires;
with it, he attains; with it he remains;
with it, he does not
become inferior.
Therefore it is good to distinguish
one's benefactor from one's benefactor,
or one's benefactor from that of Heaven and Earth.
It is well to know when one's body is

When the heaven and the earth become muddled and become clouded, they are not their movements that cause this; and when the muddled and the cloudy, and when the muddled and the cloudy, make their appearance, it is not their movement that causes this. If heaven and earth (the principle) are like this, and a great many of them are (similar to) men, it would not be natural for them to know that they are similar. The wise man, who takes his action, then aims at returning to himself, does not seek to become strong (such as Heaven and Earth), but to return to (his) inner self. Do you think the extreme of the whole will follow?
I do not.
Since the extreme is the context in which you find the light.

To speak seldom is natural;A hurricane won't last a whole morning;A torrential rain won't last a whole day. What causes these? The heavens and earth. If even the heavens and earth must rest,How much less should the state? Therefore align yourself to the way.Aligned with the Way you are one with the Way.Aligned with humility you are one with humility.Aligned with Heaven you are one with Heaven. The Way accepts this alignment gladly.Heaven accepts this alignment gladly. When there is no faith there is no faith.

The saying, "A good wind, does not last long", is a falsity. It may be argued that "good rain, does not last long."Both statements are false; wind and rain are natural phenomena. They must last because they are natural, so they cannot last for long.
<|endoftext|>
A "good wind", does not last long; a "stormy shower", does not last long;A "rain-soaked day", does not last long. How can it be said, therefore, that a good wind does not last? A good wind, which comes, will always remain,A stormy shower, which comes, will always remain. That which precedes, must endure; That which follows, must endure. The Sage, who is wise, would find on the basis of these what is common to all these:To be good, one is not good;Being good, one is not good;Being great, one is not great;Being gentle, one is not gentle;Being very good, one is not good;Being great, one is not great;Being a sage, one is not a sage.

"When the wind blows, it does not last long."That is why "the wind" is said to blow for no reason. All things depend on it for sustenance. When all depend on it for sustenance, it is not it that will last long.To praise a sound by speech, is to praise it for reasons that are in itself prejudicial. When one praises a gust of wind, it is accompanied by the sound of a sigh, and when one praises a stormy day, it is accompanied by the sound of rain. And it is said that to praise the wind by speech is to praise it for reasons that are not just, only.To

The great wonder of the universe is that its inner world seems natural. It is like the wind blowing through the winter windless sky.If the wind blew straight to your face and it were blunt, you'd be fine.If your eyes were caught wide open and you'd lose sight of the roots beneath your gaze, then you'd look ridiculous. If all the things in the world seemed to gloat like jade and you could see nothing, you'd be a fool.If the wind blew straight to your face but you didn't follow the gentle wind, you'd probably get a nosebleed. If all the world's people appeared like jade and you'd just be a cloud of dust, you'd be a fool. The truth is that we all have a rough life, and sometimes the hard work ends in tears. To truly understand the marvels of the universe, you need to see it from the inside out.But if you know only how the natural world works, you have no need to dwell on the hard work.To truly understand the marvels of the universe, you have to know how life works in the natural world. In order to know how life works, you have to love life. This is the key to all knowledge.

The mystery of the Universe's profoundmost subtle subtleties has far-reaching applicability. Since it is so deep, it is, in itself, inconceivable to the ordinary mind. Therefore, the reason its profoundest subtleties are known to be so far-reaching applicable is that it is because of their oneness. If we use the word "intrinsic" or "absolute" in this sense, it is because of its oneness. It is because of its oneness that it is so far-reaching. Without the word "supreme" or "absolute," one would see how profound the nature of the oneness of the universe is. For a lack of this understanding, one would become like a fool, who tries to manipulate the universe in order to gain some gain. If one lacks comprehension of the nature of oneness, one will never understand the transcendence of the universe. By only being aware of the ways in which the universe operates and doesn't interfere, one becomes free of control and movement. When the oneness is destroyed, the boundaries are blurred. Without interference, things become natural. When boundaries are dissolved, chaos begins. When chaos is

True virtue is like having no sin; weakness is like being free of fault. For this reason the Sage never rejects in preference to being free of fault. Hence it is that in the wise, the great need no great need for remedies.
Vulgar speech never dies out; a windless storm never stops. Little faith is needed. Stillness is the great ideal; yet still is therefore changeable, and therefore lasting. Who knows his life from his words? Who knows his place from his state?
Who can be fit to lead with stillness? To be fit to lead with stillness is to be with the One. To be fit to lead with stillness is to be with the Eternal. To be fit to lead with stillness is to be with Unity. With stillness, true greatness is achieved. To be fit to lead, however, is to be at one with Unity. To be fit to lead, however, is to be at one with the One. To be fit to lead, however, is to be at one with Unity. Being fit to lead, however, is to be at one with Unity. If there are to be faithless, then there is to be faith.

The Wise Person always stays at the Way.But he does not let personal desires override the Direction.
He loves silence as much as a storm of wind. Thus, when the Wise Person does not want to be virtuous, he is free from all flaws. When the Wise Person does not want to be honest, he does not have to be angry. When the Wise Person does not want to play the fool, he has to trust everything. That is why the Tao never warps around him and he doesn't have to pay attention to worldly matters.

The Sage does not crave anything. He takes no interest in worldly matters. He is entirely selfless. He cares for all creation,All things and what is in them.He is also indifferent to external things. This compassion is lacking in most men,Who feel inadequate for this. Therefore, the Sage has everything. He is impartial to everything. He is impartial to the essence. He is impartial to the mundane. He is impartial to the merits. He is impartial to everything. He is impartial to the oneness. He is impartial to the oneness. He does not care about success. He is compassionate, but not vainglorious. He is not

Those who speak seldom speak seldom; The valley does not overflow. Why so?Because it is always in the valley. If the valley does not overflow, will not the valley overflow? Therefore, from infancy to old age, the Valley is inexhaustible.Into the summit of a mountainIt is not possible for it to yield to gravity. From the top of a valleyTo the summit of a cityIt is impossible for it to yield to gravity. The reason the valley cannot yield to gravityIs because the gravity of gravity cannot hold it.He who knows that gravity holds no gravityWill be able to know the limits of gravity. He who knows the limits of gravityWill be able to know the virtue of the tao.The virtue of the taoIs not afraid of external things. He will be enough for the world,And even in the world, his goodness and ability are sufficient.

A whirlwind is extinguished without a sound,
A rainstorm will dissipate in a calm way,
A sudden gust of wind will not last long,
A sudden rain will stop soon.
If these words could be taken as simply true,
The world would be utterly in chaos.
The Tao is like this:
If you focus on the perfect,
You can be content with what you have.
If you let go of what you have,
You can be ready for all things.
If you are naturally wise,
You are as wise as nature.
If you are naturally kind,
You can be as kind as nature.
If you are naturally honest,
You can be as honest as nature.
If you are naturally compassionate,
You can be as compassionate as nature.
If you are naturally open-minded,
You can be as open as nature.
If you are naturally humble,
You can be as humble as nature.
If you are naturally tolerant,
You can be as tolerant as nature.
If you are naturally loyal,
You can be as loyal as nature.
If you are naturally selfless,
You can be as selfless as nature.
When the limitless mind can be shut in,
Confusion is there.
Thus does the Tao never depart.

When you see the ancient show, you can see the grand mystery. When you love it, you will experience fulfillment. When you hate it, you will experience shame.
