Holding your breath is like breathing heavily;The less you breathe,the more you'll be refreshed.Withdrawing the blade from the block is like withdrawing the breath from your body.Withdrawing the mirror from your heart is like a person who forgets his nature.Whoever overcomes by being arrogant is not successful in his task.
Because no one succeeds,
The skillful is praised.
Because no one praises him,
The talented and talented-Above all can be forgotten.
All to do with possessing
The Tao of the great Heaven.

Breathe deeply
A hard wind knocks you down
That never passes doesn't leave.
Pound it hard and it soft
Is not superior to the word "standstill".
Keep it sharp
It can't ever be replaced
Honourable as a burial
The quality you lose is not in you
If you keep it for long
You'll get it all
The hall is empty
The noble person
Truly full
The wise
Brings no one to him
It is when fame becomes old
That you must seek
First see the light of the sun
Once it is there you can't go back
The world is going with Tao

Holding your breath
Is breathing hard.
Low enough to stop, but not high enough to blunt,
Withdraw the block from the block
Is it not better to stay still?
Grasp the blade, but not touch it?
Stay in the moment, is it not better to go to sleep?
Does the vase not yet fill itself?
If you keep it for long, it will be without a use.
Thus this is Tao.
<|endoftext|>
Breathe deeply,
to hold it is to hold it.
Rest and let it blow away.
Release the sharpness of a blade
And never to undo it.
Hold this moment,
your will and your physical
are perfect.
Hold to the void of eternity
And your destiny begins.
<|endoftext|>
Breathe deeply
And then you'll be surprised at how much breath
Can be broken
Breath that is even weaker,

Emperors and kings are human too

A house made of solid wood cannot stand the world. A person made of stone cannot hold it for long. One should know what he will need first.
'A house of solid wood is not strong enough for a long time.' 'A person made of stone cannot be steady for long.' 'The use of gold and jade in the house is not enough to establish its permanence for long.' 'A good deal of gold and jade in the house can not protect the life of the person for long.' 'The use of gold and jade in the house is insufficient to overcome the strength of the person for long.' Therefore the scholar understands, he is knowledgeable;
He makes the realization appear possible to him. Then, with the approval of heaven and earth, he disregards all these things and reaches the end goal.
This is called Tao.
The wise ruler, too, is human.

Wooden walls cannot protect the world.
Solid walls cannot protect the person.
Richness prevents their decay.
Gems must be used for safe keeping.
The world must not wear out itself.
People grow weary with life after life.
Expansions of the wealth of the world make the possessor at times arrogant.
The weak remove it all and allows the body to become strong.
Goodly tools make the task of setting them up yet impossible.
By this one achieves the greatest halt.
One has the attitude of the sage and that is the way.
The ruler of a country cannot be an atheist.

The way of the universe is by being weak:
It is known when it is going too far
The way of the universe is in equilibrium:
It is safe before it goes too far
The way of the universe is like a curved mirror:
It reveals all sides
The universe is like a cave:
It is full of flaws, but it is not dull
Your heart is how much it expands
To it, beauty lies
It is how much it is faded
The path of the uncarved block is not rough like the razor's edge
It is gentle like a teardrop
The way of the uncarved block is not rough like the razor's edge
Its skill is what separates the simple from the unruly

What is the wisdom of great talent? What is the influence of the wisdom of great talent? What advantage can be derived from strong talent?
What is the excess of great talent? It would be better to be without any talent than to possess great talents.
Where there is a place for extravagance, it is better to leave it to the ten thousand things.
Therefore it is said, "Skillful things never fail; crafty things are ever their own undoing."
People value honour above wealth, and as much as riches they do not have.
When they take no further action, they do not have to do a task.
As for the apparent best in the world, it is also the result of what has been lacking. It is the result of foolish affairs.
Therefore, the sage never claims that he/she is the best.
He/She just does what has been stated.

The loftiest-sounding may not be a royal chariot like this
The fastest-twitchstheest-throtching may not be one-twenty under Heaven's throne.
If a king wishes to keep this chariot for himself, he must change it into an expedient, and
return to the chariot in its ordinary state.
The greatest art always devolves to its consummation,
And never may its outcome be halted.
It is not to be valued as great,
Or held in high esteem,
Or appealed to for fame.
In common with the things that go before us,
What can be named 'great' must be in conformity with what is common.
Is not great perfection the whole-course and measure of its completion?
The truth is, The 'great' will never be perfect.
It must be abandoned, when it ceases to be 'great'.
In speaking of 'great',
The only one who can do so is the great:
The 'great' is as the beginning of 'much',
For the beginning of much is always too far,
And only the valley, the middle ground,
Can be considered 'great'.
And if one is in the middle of 'great',
He/she will never cease to

Can a virtuoso do nothing? Yes, if the tenacity can be built up to the point where only a simple endurance can be maintained.
Can a scholar be improved to the point where he comprehends the subject within the valley of learning? Yes, if the strength can be brought up to the point where it can do a thing.
Can a gentleman be improved to the point where he abides in a society in peace and harmony? Yes, if his weapons can become sharp and durable.
Can a kind ruler be improved to the point where he could manage all under Heaven with a moderate degree of care? Yes, if the master of the feudal kingdom could be endowed with good weaponry, if he could choose to live in peace and harmony.
Can a scholar become desultory enough to be of use to his teacher? Yes, if his talents will be used up and may not make more use in the following moment.
Can a gentleman lead the world? Yes, yes, it can't be done.
No, but yes, if you have enough wealth and positions, you will lose your independence and will then turn into a slave.
That is the meaning of the Tao of heaven.

Truly, a strong person can do nothing.
Can a sullied and blemished man?

One can become strong, but not too strong,
One can become strong, but one does not dominate.
One can become strong, but without arrogance.
One can become strong, but without imposing his will.
One can become strong, but without wealth.
One can become strong, but not smug.
One can become strong, but without pride.
One can become strong, but without Tao.

When a person rules by form he leads by intimidation.

A mother who rules the world
May be able to contain the Heavens
Providing for them in the proper way
The Way of Heaven
May be referred to as the "purity of heaven"
Or "the pure light of heaven"
Who may be referred to as the "father of the empire"
Or "the first place where love exists"
A mother who guides the world, May be able to govern a home for all
A man who rules the world, May be able to hold the Empire together
The female ruler of the universe, may be able to guide him to the source of his harmony
Therefore, a wise woman might command her man to be like a big child or like a guest
An unwise man might be like a dish or a block of wood
A guide, or a guidance, is something imperceptible. We may call it the Dao of no-fading

A ruler that may be the basis for a home
The empty nature of Dao, the unchanging nature, in the context of being, is eternal.

When Heaven opens up its Door, it gives an infinite supply of fuel and nourishment.
When water streams into the void, it gives us stuff and life.
When gold and jade fill the dark, they make us grand and glorious.
When clans increase their territory, they increase the power of their leaders.
These things, whether owned by a king or the lord, cannot be completed without the need of at least being filled.
Thus, it is as if gold and jade fill up, or the need for more strength. When the princes become prosperous, the need for their leaders must also be met.
This is only because this life as gold and jade is not complete when it comes to completing the fulfillment of the lord.
<|endoftext|>
When Heaven opens its Door, it nourishes life with abundant supply of food.
When the Earth's crust is removed, it nourishes life with abundant supply of nourishment.
When wealth is accumulated, it nourishes life with abundant supply of food.
When clans expand their territory, they become powerful rulers.
When wealth is acquired, it is used to strengthen one's supremacy.
Thus, gold and jade must not be in possession of the state, nor the lord.
One must look for words to convey this truth:
The universe begins and ends with abundance of nourishment;
And yet such nourishment is inexhaustible.
When wealth is accumulated, it is in turn used to strengthen one's superiority.
Thus, the social order of the universe begins and ends with the possession of wealth and status.
Thus, the social order of the universe ends with wealth and status.

When gold and jade fill your sights, You need no more than your own consciousness to see them.
When peoples make progress and reach their full potential, They need but more to keep them in order.
When wealth is built up and ownership vested, This completes the workings.
Because all things follow their natural course, But all things depend on one another for their fulfillment.
And so do words: In the beginning Heaven opened and gave birth to life, And because gold and jade fill your eyes, You must also see what gold and jade are for.

The holder of great renown,
Man of inferior virtue,
Becoming a parasite on the world,
Lacks not virtue,
Lacks not virtue.
Hence,
he shall be considered quite bad:
Lack virtue is looked for for reproach
Although possessing virtue is looked for for glory.
Hence,
his reputation shall be much lower than that of a good man.
High virtue is deemed a distinguishing trait,
high virtue is thought to be original.
Hence,
High virtue may be regarded as the source of a pair of vipers;
High virtue as the derision of high virtue;
High virtue in its turn as the undoing of high virtue.
Hence,
virtue itself may be regarded as the source of deviantness;
virtue itself may be regarded as the source of disgrace.
Thus, a man of virtue has no place to rest his body;
He has something to fear when his body is needed.
Thus, when some triumph, some praise,
some success:
The least he in turn must believe in him.
When some triumph, some praise, some success
All he must accept in order to be supported.
Thus, when the downfall of a man is to be celebrated,
The Tao which he follows in its greatest form should be praised.

If you use a cup and pour it too much, the cup will split. If you use a knife and cut it too much, the blade will split. If you try to strengthen a weapon with fame and power and then blow it out, it will not last.
If you strive to hold a position and keep it when losing it, this would lead to misfortunes. How much a Master considers his attainment, how he plans to use this achievement to perpetuate his life! This is called the Truth of Nature.
When a man recognizes this Truth, the common people will respect him as the sage.
With this he will be able to serve the Great Matter.

Fine but hard to extract.
Fine but hard to undo.

Rare when none live upon it.

But if we go on, we are happy, if we are glad, if we are determined, if we are inexhaustible, if we have wealth and power.
But when we are all in possession of it,

A good mind, as sharp as a sword, cannot be bent;
A great heart will not be muddled;
A good soul will not make its sound a noise for long.
The sage insists on sharpness, but can be used up;
As a wealth is refined, it is lost to the thieves;

The Dao of Heaven contains all this.

He who gets things from the earth - he, the earth.

All man thinks is done and done well,

People have confidence in achievements,
but when the work is finished,

The person of self-control will display his achievements,
but how could he receive as much credit for his deeds?
One will press hard to shine,
and the shining is soon lost.
Gone is self-control,
and now there is self-interest.
Going far and wide,
an ugly place will be found.
One comes close to the ground and rolls around,
stretching one's arms out,
and then the bellows are quenched.
Tearing down buildings,
snow will fall.
All people will want to receive benefits.
But if they don't receive anything,
how can they claim merit?
One will not depart from following the Way;
this is the Way's essence.

Accept no blame, and there is no blame.
Refrain from feud and war,
hold to the same goal for all under heaven.
If the same goal is kept then
turmoil and strife soon follow.
If a house is filled with precious stones,
or jewels that dazzle the eyes,
or the floor is a plain,
or a vase made of jade is inlaid with gold,
then no-one can guard it from disturbances.
If a king and court are full of work,
and a field full of husks of corn,
and precious stones and fine pottery
can attract thieves,
then disorder soon comes to everyone's heart.
Do your work, accept no blame.
<|endoftext|>
Empty your heart, leave no life in it;
Empty your body, leave no shame in it.
In this way the eternal virtue arises.
We have no more worries:
It is the fruit of our birth.
We enjoy so many things,
But no one has the ability to take them from us.
We have a wide territory,
And so we experience disorder.
One thing we have lost,
Is the desire to be clever.
This desires is contrary to the eternal virtue.
Therefore we simply feel unhappy, not angry.
We are satisfied with what we have.
We have everything we need.
All the people are peaceful.
The mountains are beautified,
And the beautiful utensils are given to the one who does not wear them.
One who does not have tools spoils them.
The ruler is no longer, and thus, in his possession.

To not be attached to one's physical body makes one selfless.
To not be attached to one's spiritual body makes one selfless.
Both these offer blessings to those who have them.
To grow rich and luxurious,
and not enjoy it at all,
is to invite calamities.
Thus does it take place:
The surplus of wealth and luxury,
and its adornment,
can not be restrained by even the simplest action.
Yet what is hidden behind all that is plain,
can be shut up by nothing.
That which is plain is avoided.
We have resources, but it is not enough.

What's the difference between strength and goodness? How does this differ from what's good? Well, in the natural way, people with 'good' are satisfied, but in the world they're fulfilled; in their fields, in their houses, in their kingdom. Therefore the sage: Goodness puts man in space;
There is no end to its use. At the core, the superior man is like the potter;
In his speech, he makes nothing that is misleading;
His attachment to his family, his state, is so deep that it can last a thousand years. This is called the way of heaven.
A good king is great in their citizens;
A good administration has the people acting on their behalf;
A good system has people acting on their own merits.
A king, when he rules, expects all citizens to follow him;
A good administration, when it rules, needs no law for its own sake.

What is it that separates goodness from stupidity?The wisdom of the ancients was by remaining content, but not being strong. By keeping things in bounds, they should not leave as waste.Giving things to the people, they should have no need to abuse them.Since many things have a beginning, they are hidden treasures which cannot be better used.Thus it is: "Goodness comes in what is, yet does not take possession of what is." This may be referred to as "the natural path." "That which would possess another, makes another its father." This is called the state of Heaven. When one is in accord with nature, one's body is the children of the universe. When one is the manner of the universe, one has a mother and a father.This is called the Way. He who does well in the world overcomes in him faults in the world.He who does well in the world is in accord with the Tao.He who is in accord with Tao, is not unworthy of his lord.
<|endoftext|>
There is neither of good and evil as leaders, And you will know it is by their following the Way. What is natural is to hold fast to the Simplicity of the body, And still without wanting contentment. Giving place, as a mother provides, - Never forcing on your brothers. Therefore,

What is the difference between good and bad, And the very bottom of what is good? The goodness

Hard work is the way of nature; not straying is a way of life.I have kept to hard work because it's so natural.
Like all things of nature, I am a beginner, and thus am able to work.I have stayed in peace because I know what's best.
Hard work is natural, and so it can be used without action.We should treasure more than we possess and cherish our status as caring for and serving.
And to pursue luxuries is a mistake: it is natural, but we should go without luxuries.
When I learned how to use this Tao, the treasures and positions were not my own.
I learned how to do so because I am having a hard time with this.
Though I want to become soft and yielding and grow old like an infant,
I will never let this happen.
Letting things evolve will only bring about harm.
If I do my job well, I will develop peace.
<|endoftext|>
Hard work is naturally directed toward serving oneself;
it is hardly an exercise in speaking,
being self-controlled;
it is neither a learning, nor a speech,
it remains without duality:
the simple, the obscure,
(the image of the Dao):
it is still there, to give life to everything.
The Tao-
used in the acquisition of the universe
is called not-blasphemy:
it seems to be making use of what is lacking in the material world,
a firm and receptive ground to endure,
beneath which some dao is in motion.
This work is due to a man's of parental capacity,
and this is called a pity-effort,
not as something of its own accord.
it is to be guarded by a man,
for he who excels in this way
has made use of that in which the work is not yet completed;
he has been trained to recognize the need,
(of) learning by not being ignorant.
There is nothing that is original in men;
it is natural to make use of what is lacking.
It is this that saves the treasure-finder:
it is the most solid matrix of the Tao
that can be defended and displayed.

But it was the power of the Tao that made people careless.
It is this that makes them stupid and stubborn.
Because people are careless, they are not able to be careless.
They are not able to be careless, so they try hard to be.
Trying hard to be, they are not able to be.
Because they are not able to be, they get irritated and quarrelsome.
Because they are not able to be, they then lose.
Therefore, it is better to say:

To know Tao means to be free from restraint.
To know not to know Tao means to be completely free from restraint.
It is through being completely free from restraint
That one becomes incapable of stopping at its limits.

How to stop time is to stop with the aid of the scepter.
How to know the limit of Tao is to have a large store of gold and jade.
How to know the limits of time is to have an orderly house.
How to know the limits of Tao is to have time to cultivate Tao.
How to know that which is lost is to know that which is eternal.

Rare-brands are rare. Empty-brands are not-empty. The valley-plain is not a plain. The finest cloth is made of chips. All which one can show to other than by what it may in itself do. If one can call this plain, it may be so considered. Is not so it depends. When rich people reside in the valleys, the world has to be of their hand to care for. When wise men reside in the valleys, the world has to be of their hand to care for. When gold and jade are valued, they must be less than it should be. If there is something called 'impure' about it, let it be so considered. When a king has to reside in the valley, the world has to be of his hand. When the valley-king has to reside in the valley, the world has to be of his hand. When the valley-king has to reside in the valley, gold and jade may then have value. But they cannot be so valued if they are to be put in the hands of the vulgar. Therefore a wise king keeps to the purest water. He will abide by the rivers and seas. For this he becomes the measure. The purest water abides by the summit. That the highest summit abides by the filtration.

When you use the ten thousand things to obtain One Thing, it is not easy to obtain another, when you use the one to obtain another, it is not easy to obtain a third. He who then does not have enough puts himself in danger; for, when he is caught in danger, he cannot long endure his superfluity.The king who desires fame and renown, and therefore despises and disregards that which is contrary to his person and essence, has neither the least satisfaction. There are natural people who treat this as nothing more than an inferior state of life; and who in their turn proceed to do away with what is contrary to their nature, in order that they may remain in their prime state. If they have their desires satisfied and their desires satisfied only in this direction, this is called what the ancients call "the non-desire of perfection." When the sage rears his head and takes hold of his mind, he will not be mowed down by passions and blind prejudice; he will accept and act without possession and that with the advantage of the Tao.

As soon as you begin to comprehend the ten thousand things, how must you understand one thing? That which, in itself, is not the hundred, and in which you must hold.
What is only light of that which is dark?
Benevolence! - This is not to be (even if you) had the prudence to guard it with great caution. When it is withdrawn from and cannot be kept, it causes confusion; for in confusion, he will not be protected; if protected, he will not be secure; if secure, he will not be free.
He who with unfavourable feelings of honour and glory brings up the people should it be despised, he may make use of them as few wits as possible.
But when the self-mastery (of the Sage) is settled and actions become effective, the wisdom of the Tao must not be sought, yet when it is put into practice, it will not yield to reason or chance.
When wisdom is attained, then the wisdom of the Tao, - the spiritual spiritual Tao - no longer exists,
(only as) the ocean of the eternal without - and it is then like all things return to their origin.

When everything is fulfilled in mind, it is best to keep all actions contained within the mind, which can be reached only by a rod.When all are full of desire, their mind becomes crowded and it is better not to get them to fill it with attachments. In collecting things, it is better not to take any measure of their division. In hunting or stealing, there are things that have no rightful owner. To view beauty, the appreciation of wealth and merit, the recognition of achievements, will be the eye of the world;
As is the Tao of heaven, everyone loves to follow it; and even though it cannot be preserved, the Master regards it as the basis.

That which is highest in respect of the valley is the shank far below the valleys.
And he who is to keep it above, can do no wrong, and to reach it he must leave it.
His hold on fullness he must not lose, for if he overspent it he would bring it to ruin.
Therefore to master excellence he must leave it, for nothing may succeed to the mastery of his hand.
To be beautiful, he must leave it, for nothing but a beautiful character will take hold of it.
To be grand, he must leave it, for nothing that is grand can be ruled over by his hand.
To be the voice of praise, must leave it; he who wins praise by a superior performance is not honoured.
To be lofty, must leave it, for nothing but a humble character can stand above him.
Those who are too highly esteemed will be despised by all men; therefore the rule is as follows:
Highness and gold, he must leave

the buzz of the crowd;
shrill sounds

the sounds of hearing;

As it is expressed
in words, and the people
withstanding to hear it,
they go silent
and they stand

Listen, observe and hear only the loud note;
inside

what you see,
you hear;
in life there is a cycle

that is the sound of life.
Listen, observe and hear;
then the world you live in, the world,

life in your heart

life is fine;
life is full;
it is limitless.
Yet

not with the spirit:
talking or listening;

When men see that the world of their hearts

To preserve the essential essentials, this is hardly possible.
To maintain them is a matter of major importance.
When much ado is given to organization,
then much is abandoned.
If we are successful with improving and accumulating (supervision of affairs),
we also have to abandon a large part.
I say:
When so much is done,
only a little remains.
It is better to be modest and discard (all this)
in order to reduce the need for much work.
If we see the Way through
we see the Way alone;
it is not relative to what is like to what is like.
Therefore, when much is done,
it must be taken with the caution to keep quiet.
The old cart leaves a mark.
It leaves no distinguishing mark.

It is better to shut off than to blow up
Better to keep them quiet
Better to let them learn than to abuse
Better to make known than to grab
Better to complete than to do enough
Better to refrain from doing things than to act like them
Better to see them than to see them alone
Better to make a lot of things than to make a lot of things little
Better to hear from without than to hear from within
Better to leave things and not to lose them
Better to keep quiet and to keep quiet in the open.

Extracting a symbol is losing a symbol;
disturbance is causing disorder.
And the beautiful is to discard (the sacred)

Too great temptation is met with despair.
Too little temptation is met with happiness.
Truly profound, this is the way it happens.
When even one step back is insufficient,
try climbing the tower instead.
When one step is taken away,
everyone will be left behind.
When you pour your strength into your treasures,
the sky falls into your hands.
When you fill your mind with riches,
the earth shakes beneath your weight.
When you form an image of greatness,
the wall collapses.
So, when your goal is accomplished,
resolve not to attract to yourself the attention of others.
Give up the fruit that you have yet to gather, and the fruit is liable to fall.
This is called the law of Infinity.
See beauty from a pitiful point of view.
When you have hope, see sorrow.
When you have action, see confusion.
Utilize all the possibilities
and you can move without trouble.
<|endoftext|>
Too great temptation, is that which is fearful.
Too little temptation, is that which is joyful.
Herein lies the secret to its good success.
When you come down a little,
the hills will all face one.
When you come up a little,
the valleys will all face one.
When you pour your mind on wealth and honours,
the world will revolt.
When you pour your strength into your images and objects,
the world will fail.
This is the great Tao.
Yield your strength to glory, and you will not fall.
This is called 'the law of the blind.'
Look at a tower, and you look at the bottom;
prune your food, and you look at the bottom;
give up your roots, and you look at the bottom.
Thus, when you succeed,
return not to your surface,
not to glory,
not to neglect.

Tao overcomes all kinds of temptations. Thus, the greatest and most fearsome: the enemy which prevails over his person and body is the original creation. Thus, when one retreats from the bottom, the inner world rises. When one looks ahead

When contending with a wooden vessel, be serene and treat it calmly and evenly. When fighting with a sword, be discriminating and peaceful. When in pursuit of gold or jade, the eye cannot see.
When you compete with something intangible like the Tao, you lose. If you try to do something with your life to the exclusion of Tao, your life will lead you astray and destroy.
Therefore, when the aim of a battle is achieved and it is time to retire, be calm and gentle. So just concentrate on what you have to accomplish, without obsessing about the outcome. Do not compete with people for an advantage.
You cannot win the people over when you try to compete with them. You are in trouble if you try to compete for the advantage of the people.
Therefore, if you compete to win the people over, you will lose.
Do not meddle with everything that occurs in your life. It is difficult to govern things correctly if you do.
Therefore, when you want to lead people, stop thinking about winning and start thinking about how they can be governed.
What is happening in your life should be left as it is. There is no purpose in it.

When on the military battleground your duty is to observe and to watch,
When the battle is won, the final assessment of the outcome is to be observed and observed with grief and emotion.
How could you consider one who has always enjoyed the valley of peace,

Avalanche of the Yang,
A living valley, the valley of the great person!
A valley valley valley valley valley.
With the left hand, hurling hurling your arm!
Pouring jade jade jade into the chalice!

In possession of gold and jade!
In possession of honor!
In possession of hidden qualities!
In contemplation of the great person!
As if in solitude!
As if alone in the valley!
The valley valley valley valley!

What kind of place is it that leaves one with grief?
What kind of Valley should the person become?
The Valley of the Great Person!
The Valley of the Great Person!
You are the Valley of the Great Person!

To give the whole world a cup to drink, is to become the root of the earth,and the root of the earth's people.So using the cup as the root of the earth's people, will be easy.
When the world drinks from it, it becomes excessive, and it can not be handled.
Do not overdo the cup, but close the vase.Do not attempt to fill the house with gold and jade, and you will not be able to guard them.
Give your people the means to empty themselves of all cares and desire, and they will empty themselves of all cares and desires.
That is the Tao of the Universe: the way you begin to give is not your end.

You can use the earth in giving.
It is a good container for the people.
(By giving) without effort,
Can you give your job.
And take it to the extreme,
And break it.
Do not fill it to the brim,
And when it is empty, it cannot be put to use.
Those who know how
Fill the cup to the brim,
And cannot guard it.
They show the gold and jade

Things have opposites.They flow together;Tends not to compete;Tends to run counter to each other.<|endoftext|>
What things have opposites?It creates the effort to become one.
What things tend to go against each other?That takes away their utility. It should not seek out the counterpoint,Yet it stays where the counterpoint remains.
When gold is worn and worn away, it falls apart. When riches are discarded,they are lost.Therefore:The wise trader dares not reject a counterweight;The simple gentleman dares not reject his own glory.When riches and honors are lost,they are no longer useful.So the wise trader has to give up their wealth, And simply pays no attention to their appearance. He endures being lonely.And when they are no longer needed,That is the end of the wisdom.<|endoftext|>
To succeed in [man's] fullest usefulness,It's necessary to concentrate on humility.How lowly everything flows!What divergences it is?!Even though it opposes itself,Which has the merit of keeping its own source!Even though it flows counter to itself,Whose utility is thus increased,The merit of which is manifest,If it has been cast aside!Therefore, the sage seeks but does not contrive,Contemplate but doesn't embellish,When difficult but does not strain.Though the people can't see it,The sage knows that they're there.Though they can't see it,The sage sees how far his example has come.

The Way in its Infinity is like the vacuums of the Universe: endlessly re-discernible.
When an object is abandoned, it is returned to the source.
The time when you accumulate more wealth, do not accumulate more, because then you lose it.
When you lose your honor, then you lose it. This is called 'how each object comes back to its source', and it is only if you 'prefer simplicity, and contrast in equality with the world' That you can continue to preserve and impart your great talent.

Get it all finished: Take a bag full of flowers, pour it on a sword, and it slips out of your hand. That's the way it is: If your busy-body puts things into the cup to be poured over it, it will only end up being put in the cup. Do not put things into the cup to be spilled; and if you cannot keep them in the cup, they will be broken. In the Way the Truth is very hard to grasp: When the sword is of enough force, it can never hurt the arm. So when the sword is blunt, it can't hurt the arm. But when the person is in the greatest display of wealth, and there are luxurious things around him, he cannot be benefited by them.
When the parts of the Way are present, all people are not really disinclined to work (over and above) and abandon their bodily relationships.
When the Way is less developed, many people fail to be led (to virtue).
Those who fail to give (their duty) as well as taking (their care of the relatives) to the highest dignity of respect, will not leave their original objects (maintained) intact.

Tao is flexible.
It can move about without being blunt,
but it never leaves a point.
It can use a block to block off a doorway,
but it never gets in.
And if it cannot keep it itself,
it will be made crooked.
In the natural law of things,
things that can't maintain themselves
stupidly become instruments for men.
You cannot force something to keep something else,
and you cannot coerce something to do something.

But that doesn't mean she can't give something for it.
Heaven is not, as you know, gold,
But is an honor that cannot be drained away.
Heaven does not wear jewels,

Use the shank and the torsion to loosen your ropes. You will not have enough rope to knot; so, loosen them by the threefold bending, (The knotting) -- by filling it to the brim; (the torsion), by countering it with the sound. There is no usage to lecture and argue.
Whenever it is advantageous to show, show before you know it; (when you are) obliged to abide, (when) in peril, show before you have acted.

Do not begin this activity lightly.When everything has been lightly bound, it is like taking hold of the rope too lightly.One who becomes weighty uses too much rope.One who becomes conceited uses too much talk.When everything is tipped in a knot, it is a sign that the relationship is over. When a bowl has the color of jade, it is a sign that one is inferior.When the place is full of gold, it is a sign that one is wealthy.If one regards one's guests as inferior, one is worthless.If one is arrogant, one is despised.If one is not careful in taking action, then it becomes late and undesirable.

Rich is like a king's wealth;
Dumb is like a fool's worth.
Wine and jade are treasures that treasure good men;
Good men can never hoard them,
And men who hoard will not long last.
It is the self-controlled man who completes his task,

He takes action, but no one hears of it.
A tao-manic leader abandons the goal,

He adopts action, but he remains unsung.
The tao-manic leader abandons his work,

Do not treasure the precious stone in doors.
Instead, treasure the Tao.

Worship the precious wood and regard its usefulness.
Therefore, carving and jangling cannot last forever.
Use up and empty,

Respect the door and don't leave.
Be free of desire,

Uncarved, jangling doors cannot be seen for ever.

Yield and you will lose.
Pull and you will lose.
These statements are rooted in the Tao, in life and in nature. Therefore:
Yield to the strong and you will not be upset.
Loss brings suffering.
Draw to balance and you will not be lost.
Draw away from pleasure and you will not be upset.
What can be durable will be worn-out.
What can be rich will be depleted.
Prideful and arrogant can tarnish a noble and not-so-noble name.
Crumble and fall apart.
The door and the floor cannot be carved, but cannot be left, or replaced, or yet kept until all the work is done.
When the work is done, the task is done and done with.
Though gold and jade may glitter, they must not be preserved.
Therefore those who hoard them, destroy them.
Break them and shatter them.
Cut them and shatter them.
Those who fail to pay their dues and honor and pay homage are unknowing, and thus might fall from the heavens.
<|endoftext|>
Therefore, what is precious, narrow? What has been cut? What is hard, soft? Things seem hard to break, to cut. Where are gold and jade now? The name of a noble is gone. Who keeps gold and jade? The world will see they are not their real belongings. They have been cut, and blown out.

When seizing something, one must keep it in mind.
When reaching an object, one must be cautious.
When an action, one must be exact.
When conducting one's life, one must have a lot of faith.
When achieving an achievement, one must remember that it is a process.
When attending a funeral, one must refrain from non-audit.
Therefore, one who is loyal to the Tao treats all things as if they are not their own children.
One who follows Dao in the life loses trust in others,
And thus his heart should always be pure.
One who practices the Dao in the life loses faith in the Tao.

So much is taught that when you have the treasure in your grasp it is hardly possible to keep it.
When you have enough to spend on the ways of Heaven,
Then let go of your egotism.
When you are at war, let go of the honor.
Therefore those who keep to the Tao do not let much go and so the heart of the people is free from weakness.
Those who uphold Tao do not put much faith in Heaven, and so the common people are pure.
Those who uphold Tao do put great trust in the Heaven, and so the nobles are pure.
Those who uphold Tao do not possess much confidence in Heaven, and so the people are open to be deceived.
Therefore the people of Tao do not harbor strength nor display wealth, for this may be an asset to the people.
The manner in which the end is reached is not in keeping with that of the subject,
Therefore the earth dwellers in Heaven.
This is the lesson to men, that when they treasure things they do not treasure their own lives;
That when they lay hold of an object they do not embrace it as their own own self-luminous.
This is the lesson to the people, that when they let themselves be seized they therefore lose nothing.

Holds to rectitude, and esteems his responsibilities.
Long-established wisdom is withheld,
The Tao that is lost and not forgotten,
Continually embraces achievement.
He who has the Tao does not dwell in fame or glory
Long as he is in possession of his Self,
He will never fail.

When a wise person dies, the substance is preserved.
After a false way of action comes a utensil.
If you want to toughen up, you can't take too much.
When you get better, you look as if you were taking a dump.
Do you want to be good at your job?
You'll always get the job.
You're not going to become a leader if you don't honor the people first.
If you're clever, you won't brag.
People love you anyway, and you can't ruin their lives.

One of the things which make a man of little ability useful is that he can preserve a possession which he then uses for his own benefit.
Another thing which makes a man of great ability useful is that he can afford to use it.
Other things which make a man of great advantage useful are that he will use them and they are used to promote his own advantage.
Other things which make a man of great advantage useful are that he will be used and they are used to promote his own advantage.
Thus great advantage is preserved, and an object that is in the state of little advantage is durable.
What is said in the above way has been stated in the ancient saying, "You will not be improved if

When a scholar-king is ambitious, let his talent alone;
When he becomes greedy, let his hunger alone.
He who attains greatness overcomes with diligence.
A successful man gradually serves his teacher,
but a man who does not depend on his teacher is gradually defeated by the other.
If a scholar-king has great ambitions, he is afraid of failure;
if he has great greed, he is afraid of being left behind.
Even though it is regrettable, let a person conquer and carry on;
as in an empty hall he cannot compete with the thousands of guests.
Let the students retire and serve their masters;
they will return to a proper place each day.
When this is done, to be ennobled and to have titles is the way of heaven.

Gentile talent always ends up. If the strength of his will were lost he would not be self-taught.
Should a man's stamina falter he is always mastered.
Lao Tze says:
The master in a place of strength,
The master of the whole world,
He has his desire.
As for that gentleman whom the world accepts and he serves?
There is no one worthy to be his child.
Since he has no family he will never be reduced to that.
If the lotus blossom in a valley and is as rare as jade,
Can it be his lot?
If he comes into a high place, he will not be a ruler.
If a commander has great desire and has a dire cup,
No one will be able to rule his lordship.
It is the same as when the horse and carriage go forward in the day and before the guest comes.
With his cart, he is unable to compete with the guest.
All people will flock to him and serve him.
The person who holds no honours,
He is incapable of greatness.
Let him succeed and he will obtain great honour;
While he is not fully satisfied,
He will make someone follow him.
Therefore the highest virtue is not kept.
He who has no pride will not be diminished.
The way to be worthy of the highest honours is to be contented.

Let each seek his own place. Give each his place; give each his full share. Allow each his fair share. [Therefore] it is clear that in seeking each other's place, one cannot improve [the place that has been allotted to others]. In seeking each other's part, one cannot make good [one's proper] performance. In seeking each other's part, one cannot protect [one's proper] performance. Each can learn to live without caring for [one's own] life; [to] have but modest desires [that is,] free from desires and possessions; to have but modest expectations; to keep his separate self without encumbrances [that is, be without true individuality]. The possessor of ten thousands [fulfilling] ambitions must aspire [to the possession of all that is]. He who has the thirteenth heart [is one with heaven] and the great way.

Do your duty to all equally and guard your authority accordingly. How much more so to [rule] the Way? This is done by focusing your awareness on [the things of] one, first. See the image of all before your eyes, for it is quite possible to observe them all without fully understanding them. To see all things together, to observe their difference, without discriminating [it] into different things is the constant practice of Dao. The difference between the light and dark and between the light and dark has no light-edge, and all things are single [by nature]. The wonderful things [in the world] seem obscure and dissipate. Thus, even though one may not realize it all yet, with Dao [to his credit], he not only achieves Tao, but attains Complete Enlightenment.

In taking possession of sacred music, we cannot deprive the instruments of their emotional vitality. The music is alive, without end.
The deaf can hear it no better than we can.
The powerful can use it with destructive force.
The famous can use it with profuse words.
If not equipped with a true ear for praise or praise,
the capacity for humility is lost.
If one conceives [in music] without deep apprehension [about music]
His soul is further impaired.
So, one returns to love [music].
He is safely grounded [in music].
He knows that he has been effective [in music].
Since he has held [to music], his life will never wane.
Music and prophecy all have their source in the heart.
People of the tao place their trust in the heart of the leader.

Conducting the sacrificial rites in the hall is like refusing to carry a chariot.
Music-making is like one's arm being held in place by the ends of heavy poles.
Giving directions in writing is like one's speech failing to endure.
I, the sage, as a matter of fact, find it regrettable to detest such conduct.
All else too, is equally regrettable.
For this reason, in holding to the goal of Tao, one remains conscious of the possibility that one will lose one's way.
And one finds in the sage a model for those who follow him.

What does the deaf hear in the bowels of the Cave,
what can be done with implements that rip and rend?
What will blow the deaf hear out in the breath of the words of words?
Weapons which are unnameable produce fear.
Weapons that have names cause disquiet.
Weapons that blow do not last long.
Weapons that need names cause fear,
And weapons that threaten will not last long.
To identify these things with Tao leads one to blame oneself
and to make oneself a target for all to hate.
What use is the strength of words, that is, to carry scorn from the people?
Wherever one goes in the world, one finds men of constant talent, who hold fast to the Tao

To take the best course or the least course
Is not only not a good idea;
It is hardly desirable;
How much less can it be to stop?
How much less than wishing it all;
How much less will one ever lose it?
How much less are worries of the heart;

He who takes the least and the greatest will not do well
And therefore be rejected;
He who takes this is very glad and rejoices;

Bad people bring others to the depths of despair.

Better things will decay; but if you reject them, you will not waste your life.

As for speechless resignation, this is a tall one. Even great men (of good character) seem to be speechless when their words reach their ears. A blade without a point is worn out before it is cut. How can a vast hallful of gold and jade be kept secure? The multitude of all the things (of merit) will one day pile up upon him and rob him. To guard one's treasure (which may be extravagantly), is of great advantage. To step back when you have achieved success is called "the shih [method of doctrine] of Heaven."
<|endoftext|>
Appropriately as for extreme humility, others have been too 'humile'. Even those (who are) wise in these matters can only be 'humile' when their words are received by the ears. How little inaudible is the beating of a sword! How far-reaching are the boundaries of a great hall! It is not possible to leave a hall full of jade and gold. It is not possible to let a guest's weight overwhelm him. If you believe in wealth and honours (only after successful completion of a task), you will surely fall prey to your own arrogance. Hence it is that those who wish to guide humanity (by the law of Tao) reject things (that are too) extravagant. It is impossible to begin a task, when there are no prospects to oppose it. Hence it is that those who are most at ease in matters of harmony lead others to extremes. So it is that the sage follows the Tao.
<|endoftext|>
Acceptance of humility is such a vast (order) in mankind that it should have been progressed.Even those who are truly (great) in their being are such that they are constrained when their humble self becomes known.A true knight would be bowed to (when) he would feel obliged to speak in humility (to all).A knave would find in humility to cast an eye upon the fame.A tall tower would be laden with gold and jade.Bearing on his shoulders the weight of his fame,Who would put it in the worst shape (to the fellow)?Thus the wise renounce all things that are of much burden.They renounce a multitude that have wealth and ability.Who can guide the soul with a multitude of things?Thus the sage chooses humbleness.

When the original breath begins, let it be quiet, even as water.
It should breathe slowly, but not collapse to a halt.
There should be a constant flow through the vessel, and no surplus.
High-grade silvers flow to excess,
And thieves gain.
When the essential breath comes to a close, let it not be forced.
It is better to wait, to guard against failures.
A thousand talents would meet no harm,
But their excess could bring disaster.
The skillful officer will rest for ever,

Giving something without taking it.
Winning without being able to control the crowd.

When first breath is experienced the mind is still and receptive.
While the breath is still it produces all that is needed.
During its passage through the stomach it should not be withheld.
When used, it is called 'grievance'
Through it, there will be none to oppose;
And therein lies the advantage.
To possess the soul without wanting its treasures is to be in accord with Heaven;
And when the [power of] 'long trapping breath' is exhausted, it is well to retire to that part that needs to be retained.
To be sure to hold to that which is 'worthwhile' is to prefer the substance.
In holding that which is 'worthwhile' a leader is to take his place with credit and faith.
Those who assert themselves without holding on to anything
Will hardly be appreciated.
Those who show off their possessions in praise
And trust themselves with credit and faith

And the inferior leader is bound to be despised.

Heaven and Earth know full well how great the 10000 things are. They have desire that they keep them full.
Treating the 10000 things as though they were small is like setting the carriage at rest:
Cut it out with sharp instruments and it will not be fit to stand.
If there were to be gold and jade about it's worth would be lost.
The lonely person when he views things and has a view will soon be lost in them.

What you do to the 10000 things is as if you are letting them rest.
Forcing the 10000 things to take form is like carving up a car.
Therefore it is the good Teh that man should regard the 10000 things as one with whom he wishes to be in the same relationship.
We should desire to be one with them. We should care for them with kindness. We should treasure them with wealth. We should treasure them with all the perfections of Heaven and Earth.

Knowing your left doesn't make you right.Knowing your right doesn't make you left.Knowing when something is right and when it is not makes you what you are.Using the power of your left makes it possible to know without having to do the pushing.If you take the left out, you will not be able to keep from becoming what you are.It is for this reason you must stop doing right, and do what is left.That is the way to be right.

<|endoftext|>
The greatest requital is Never to trust in men, for great things come from their failure.
After the fault isfall a group, they would be not meritorious enough to go on forever.
So, it would not be best to bring to completion a job which is completed, then to stop.
When the task is complete it should not be carried out too soon.
Having sufficient treasures and jades, no one can protect them.
To protect them they should work slowly.
Work when the task is finished.
When the great virtue is concentrated, then the works become efficacious.
When all the people work, then all the evils will be stopped.
Thus the sage in advancing the great virtue is great in pushing out the wrongs.
<|endoftext|>
"The greatest commandment is never to trust anyone."
A few are successful, others fail.
Goodness depends upon merit,
And when merit is not sufficient,
One will be thought not worthy.
Therefore, treasure things and you will not be endangered.
Hold riches and you will not be profited,
Hold yourself, and you will not be proud,
Therefore, treat everything as it comes.
Do not take your time, and you will not be separated.
Abandon fear of failure and you will receive success.
And see that one does not act hastily.
When the myriad things become one,
Accomplishment of the duty of that duty comes to the fore.
<|endoftext|>
The great virtue cannot be confided in
To who it is attributable depends an order.
When men reach the end, they have not merited the beginning.
Those who acquire too much are not able to acquire even to whom.
It is best to restrain their access to the lot of those that cannot be restrained.
Those who possess the most treasure and jade are most full of danger.
Not to treasure those who have more than enough, is to hold upon to that which has not been greatly enough obtained

Heaven is a valley
High above the sky
In beauty bright
Too rarely seen
Love sounds hollow
Tired as if weary
Why is a king so serious
While treasures are so plentiful
One who loves another is afraid
Yet never really satisfied
Loving another is one with destiny
Other people may look like filth
But never to be touched
Those who own land cannot rule it
Other people's minds have no boundaries
Only things with limits can be given birth
These are not everlasting things
And once they have been born
They go on forever

Existences are like valleys
(Plain) heaven has form, but its form is not constant,
and cannot be fully understood.
As gold and jade are always in demand
by men, I can see their place.
Heaven only is full of emptiness;
When gold and jade are no longer needed
one gets lost,
because one has lost the former,
and also has lost the latter.
As gold and jade are always in demand,
one gets far away from earthly fame
one gets far away from earthly renown
one gets far away from earthly felicity
one gets far away from earthly goods
one gets far away from earthly possession
one gets far away from earthly rules
one gets far away from earthly life
one gets far away from earthly distinctions
one gets far away from earthly distinctions
as they say, the valley of an appearance.

All creatures present themselves in the way that they are;
The infinite All-pervading Valley
Is eternal, without end.
Much gold and jade is found and used;
The Sage abides by them.
The Cave and Gate are always at rest;
They never fail to smile.
People worship them and live according to their desires.
Their bones can lose their shape,
Because people, being without an identity,
Do not be fit to receive their own.
Their usefulness does not last forever,
Because they are not fit to be used,
And consequently are not fit to be used.
At present, gold and jade have become too common and precious;
Then there is dissatisfaction,
Because people do not look after themselves,
And consequently the way is

He who understands the perfect will not maintain the ordinary,
because if he did he would soon become less.
He who follows the way of Heaven will be a guest,
for he will be watched.
Therefore, the gold and jade are often conspicuous,
and he sees
how they can fall.
The more of them he treasures,
the more does he lose;
so he will keep the undefiled.
And the few of the people
with whom he comes into personal acquaintance
will be watched with caution.
Therefore, having men's hearts, he will not be lord of them,
because he will lose them.
He who practices this Tao
will govern all things without causing harm to them.

When Tao-ful men know the (Sage), they can not observe the (magnificent); they will gradually become (less and less) inadequate.
When Tao-ful men follow the way of Heaven, they are a (remote) guest (to them).
When gold and jade fill the hall, he must be cautious.
If he is not (much) guided by (his own inclinations) his wealth will be lost.
Therefore, he who follows the Tao is sparing in his guidance,
for he is too generous.
If he does not act (well), his activities will not benefit.
In this way the great Tao is the Way of Heaven.

The master is impartial.
He never considers himself above others.
He approaches each new creation as if it were the child, or a flower in spring, or a riven and swollen river.
It is not his purpose to fuss over things, for he is content with what is already there.
He prefers the small to the big and ignorable to the precious.
When a group of people are invited to a banquet he says, "This is the fruit of your sacrifice."
When gold and jade fill a hall, he does not like them.
It is the small that is the prize.
When the good are set against the bad, there will be conflict.
Only through harmony is there true cooperation.

When the spiritual essence fills your heart and lungs,

When the spirit is at rest in your being,

When the fear of others is diminished,

When the boundaries of people are no longer felt,

When the Way of Heaven is left, the life of man is not human.
When the Way of Heaven is abandoned, man dies.

When precious stones are found lying about,
They cannot be kept secure.
Those who know how to be successful,
Refrain from interfering in others' affairs.
Rejecting the Work,
The working can be put off.
Even if there are ten people,

In the journey of the Way,
The master does not expect that his accomplishments will be recognized.
The true man, seeing the merit,

Yet the myriad kinds of effort of all kinds of things are rejected
And the valuable work of the ruler remains unaltered
Because the pound is tattered and dust settles The jade is sometimes difficult to find
And the jewels of rare and valuable works are in danger of being lost
Because there is ambition in the realm
The ruler will not accept the initiative of the multitude
Because of the principle of difference the ruler avoids being a 'moron'.

Never try to make anything new out of nothing.
It is easy to look at gold and jade and think that they are beautiful and beautiful, But the ability to fashion them is weak and feeble. To fashion a fine watch and treasure it with jade and gold is even worse. Those who earn their livings from plundering other people's land and exploiting other people's bodies will surely die without making a sound.
People of the world treasure dainties but will not make rich out of their precious things.
While gold and jade abound in the hall, none can guard it and none can own it. Whoever does, loses it all.
Those who are masters of earth enjoy luxury while they are busy running over their neighbours and stealing their lands.
Since gold and jade are worthless possessions, nobody can take them. They who are in possession will be picked out by the thousands of people who compete for their merit.
The master loves gold and jade but won't let his treasure go to waste. When there is enough gold and jade, one can easily accumulate enough for oneself.
In the long run it is better to deal with common people than to reward merit with wealth.
Therefore, master of the world takes care not to get rich but to keep the treasure in his treasure room.

In the kingdom of existence you have to be a piece of uncarved wood.
If you don't carve like wood, you are like a new-born baby.
An owner of refined jade will cherish it, but when left behind, people will steal it.
When gold and jade fill the hall, none can keep them safe.
Someone who steals from others becomes their enemy.
Caring for all people means defeating evil with evil.
If the master of the nation is noble,
A man should not treasure anything, but keep treasure for the common people.
When he lets wealth live on
He is like a bee that cannot sting
When wealth is given and taken, then it becomes hard to keep.
When gold and jade fill the hall,

But what is the difference?
Dingoes are not for constant use,
They are made to last a long time.
Heaven wishes to make people value gold and jade, but
its use is conditioned.
How different is the talent of heaven from Earth,
and the difficulty of Earth is in its ability
to produce.
When a good deal of gold and jade are within reach,
no one can keep them safe.
When a good deal of jade is within reach,
someone can't protect it easily.
The realm also wishes to produce beauty.
Beauty is hard to keep, it may cause one to lose it.
But in the case of the good deeds of the realm,
they are made for the good of the people.
Hence, it is proper to promote the creation of good deeds
And
content to do them only if the need arises.
When a good (or easy) act of the realm is done,
It is a sign that the task is completed,
That means that the work is done.

Tao is formless,
but has no selfhood.
Simple and direct,
Its being is infinite.
In its being,
the small is found.
In its being,
the large is found.
Both the large and the small
are found in it.
And because it has infinite strengths,
It may be called a vessel.
To know the different parts of the vessel
Will not fill a cup.
Thick and delicate and difficult to work with,
It may be called a blade.
Till the end is found
There is no use contending with it.

Tao is infinite!
Empty and empty,
Great and small,

Knowing this, one can go on;

One can use them without using any.

Remaining in the gateway of reality.
When I am empty-minded, I am filled with wonder and wonder at the ways nature makes it

Knowing the patterns of this wonder,
How is it I am not left empty-minded?

Listening: it is the only successful way of working out things, since a man once mastered it his whole life span can live in the way of Tao.Can a man a great man who became master of the great man live for the remainder of his life in the lesser way of life and find return to his ancestor?Can the great man who abandoned his ambitions of glory in order to follow the light of his Heavenly Way, in this way keep his life in the great way?Can a man whose cultivation of Tao leads to a profit the still greater [supreme] Way to be able to know of what he is the loss, or his lives of what he is producing?Can a man who resides in the following way of life keep his mind filled with the Tao?

Return to where
You started,
Truly complete.

When carving a bowl, how do you fill it? When cleaning a blade, how do you sharpen it? When your spiritual forces clean your body, how do you become strong and healthy? When your mind has released your desires, how do you act without a reason? When your heart is purified, how will you be truly happy?
Therefore, in the path of Tao, One learns to let go of self-interest. When practicing the Tao, one will experience ease in the moment. And when success is achieved, let go of aspiration and ambition.
What you must do is just the following: to help the people
in the world in this way.
<|endoftext|>
The best materialism does not regard the fruit of the five-year course as important.
The saint will give up the sacrificial principles if it means preserving the body.
When cutting with a wooden blade the principle must be kept intact.
When arouse passionate thoughts, free from prejudice, do not force them.
When discerning the spiritual essence, observe with humility.
Not to know when to stop is to throw away the method. When the Tao of the universe is complete it is time to retire.
<|endoftext|>
Bread is thoughtless: only the TAO can keep it in thin portions; brushes and chips, coarse cloth, would not protect the piece from tears, neither rust.
So, if the ANATOPOULOS receive the ritual as a vessel of compassion: then it must be ritually preserved, to guard against vices.
If the SAGE apprehending the ritual as a vessel of wisdom is insistent that it be displayed as a confection: if he understands that the "sacrifices" for the DAO are unnecessary, then it is even "necessary" to give up the ritual.
If the WELCOMING of ritual be so in the TAO's TAO: the DAO becomes a positive contributing act and the MAD becomes even more real.
When the DAO and MAD are combined, the latter expresses itself as "illusion," the former, "true." Therefore, in returning to the ONE as a DAO, to keep one's TAO and not to act only as "totem"
To see it as a BIG FAIRNESS

Before the beginning of time, longers than many things existed.
Before the beginning of the earth,
perhaps before the sun and moon.
Before the ten thousand things that grew up,
perhaps before man walked the earth.
Before the ten thousand things that were born,
perhaps before the first man.
Before the ten thousand things that may be spoken of,
maybe before the earth was born.
Before man made himself;
before man took his place;
before there were ten thousand things.
Before kings and lords were born.
Before the sages strode forth and brought order to the world.
For ever,
as the beginning of time
goes,
from it are gone
all the qualities and fruit
that have existed.
Filling up the belly in the ordinary way
is not in keeping with it.
Moving about without a clear mind
is not in keeping with it.
Following what others do,
not to try to be their own leader.
Seizing possession of it,
not to abide by its natural process.
Only this is the nature of how things end.

Before the first bird appeared,
the state of nature was like it.
The earth was before the rivers.
Before man walked,

Before men climbed mountains,

Before water mixed with clay,

Before a rope twisted,
Nature appeared.
Before the winds blew,

Before plenty of food appeared,

Before the sun was born,

Before the wind blew,

Without Tao (Self) can one walk with ease.
Without work and worklessness can one achieve whatever one wants.
Without keeping something, it can lose its value.

Without a fixed beginning, we have no time to study.
Without a fixed destination, we can bequeath everything.
Without a definite start, we can bequeath everything.

The sage is without discords, does not dwell upon the past, and does not dwell on the future. The wise person never concerns himself with affairs in the long run, and consequently lives beyond fear of lack of sustenance. He has all-embracing virtues and has no fears. The former is the way of the Way. Because the method of the Way is easy to comprehend, the method of the sage is even easier to comprehend. The sage is the eternal Way, so the sages are as eternal as the rain, the wind, and the ocean.

One who can do a great work in his own way does it because he prefers to do it by himself. Others prefer to follow order, so he must keep quiet. They prefer to hold fast to order, so they must get stressed. But he who prefers himself prefers to dominate. Thus the adept in action is willing to use force and victory, and can control the world. Yet he wants nothing more than to be left alone. He is not desire-filled; he doesn't seek glory, and keeps himself to himself. How is it possible that he can accomplish so much? Because he doesn't fill himself up with material things.
<|endoftext|>
If you do things yourself, you do it better. If you let others do it, they will cooperate. If you let others use you, you will be able to do it well. When you are content, you have reached a higher level of your success. When you have achieved a goal, you are at peace, because you know what you have achieved. When you are comfortable, you feel all the more free. When you are content, you become relaxed. When you are free, you have the ability to fulfill your destiny. When you are content, you become spiritual. When you are content, you are happy. When you are happy, you are healthy. When you are happy, you are strong. When you are strong, you are not rejected. So let go of everything you have, let go of what you don't need. Do not try to own, and all you will have is what you have.

Attending the rites of Dao does not do your body a good turn.
If you hold it too tightly you suffocate your arms,
For when your strength is dissipated your arms grow weak,
And then you find yourself at the mercy of your stomachs.
By losing your ability to grow you will find oneself in want.
Attending the rituals of Dao, using your strength will prepare your body for success.
Keeping it dark, it will dull your eyes.
To live without work will bring your victory.
And if you have ever been content to receive and receive and receive,
Then you can lay claim to being Tao.
When success can be won and lost,
Always be content to yield to the Tao,
Because it is good to be:
Abandoned, and then you can be redeemed.

After your canceror will come to your health, you will endure it, and you will be able to hold it for its natural outcome. To let go of the cancer, to become a man of one's substance, to let go of the thickets of self, to guard the inferiority of the heart, and to live without ambition, to experience the abundance of life, this is the way for your cancer-substance, in its natural order, will come.
The canceror will not cause your cancer, for to cause your cancer to be cancer will only make your cancer weaken you; To allow the cancer to be strong, and to not weaken it, is to make it develop naturally, And the cancer will come to you, and there will be no cancer, and you will be able to develop your cancer, and its appearance. To have ambition, and not to be strong, is to find it difficult. To have ambition, and not to feel oneself equal, is to find it hard. To be content with the vacancy of the belly is to love it to excess. When the cancer is restored, it will be at a loss for life. That is the reason why the cancer is likely to be without cancer for long, and no one will have cancer to his heart.

When men's minds are bent with acute pain they seem to benefit from all the arts and discoveries of the age. And yet they turn to folly without reproach; so that the world is amazed at the extent of their knowledge and wit, and disquieted by their disuse of it. For the reason that such a man will not be depended upon to make rules in his own mind, that the more he attacks the subjects of culture and government, the less will be left for himself. So the wise man does not attempt to educate his fellow-beings, and does not seek to aggrandize them. Yet that which is the rule of nature, no one is able to override him with his exercise of it.Thus the rules which a state-kings has to adopt are his words; and if the knowledge and art which are a living word of the state are not placed in his custody, they will be soon lost. The clever man will always keep to those words, and if no one can be trusted to enforce them, he will reluctantly make them. He follows the natural course of things, and when the day is done and the task done, he does not add anything to it.
<|endoftext|>
When the mind is bent with pain, People gain a great deal of benefit.But when the mind is calm and relaxed, People seem to benefit a great deal.Now, All-Knowledge (Mao Tse-tung) looks as ridiculous as it did in the Tao.Therefore, All-Knowledge goes on, and does not seem to be broken.The reason is that the world will not trust the things that the person knows, and that a ruler will not want to be as clever as all-knowing himself.The wise man will always do this, and will know when the time is right, and make it unnecessary.He is not interested in wise words, and will never give anyone ideas.When the task is completed, he will stop.He will not add any more to the work,And when his work is done, he will say: "That is how I put it".
======================================== SAMPLE 1 ========================================
<|endoftext|>
He who understands true Virtue does not dwell in Tao.
If he did, Tao would be impossible to master.
All beings become eternally eternally.
Everyone ceases to exist.
It is not done so, then, that he may remain eternally.
When it is done, he is free from worry.
He has a magnificent house, or a wide terrace,
with plenty to eat, wine to drink,
music to listen to, or his luggage to rumble about
and the state will be free of worries.
Even the worst creatures can be improved,
by following the Tao.
<|endoftext|>
He who practices the Tao
Does not do it.
If he did, it would be impossible for him to complete the Way.
All things have life; He who has no life, is lost.
Heaven endures; Earth ends; this world too.
Who endures, comes to an end.
The Tao is the Only Way.
<|endoftext|>
The best person never puts himself in danger
For when he must he does not force it
All things have a life but he does not have it
Who lives and loses their own life
Is then in peril
And likewise everything returns to what it was before their birth
Thus we can say that Tao is the Way,
The Tao that preserves, the Way that endures,
Lao Tze says.
<|endoftext|>
Abandon TAO and you will not be forced to work.
The Tao flows through all things and cannot be controlled.
There is no limit to the action and all things will be bound to it.
Since they have no desires to serve, they always find satisfaction.
Always free of danger, they become forever open to everything.
A house of gold is not hard to construct.
To succeed in business is not hard to accomplish.
The Tao is the unerring instrument of the heart, The instrument of the heart that becomes the general measure of all things.
<|endoftext|>
Do not rule the people.
Do not make their lives hard.
They are at liberty to bring it upon themselves.
Everything in the world is restless, wanting: it would be best if they remained passive.
How well suited it is to be truly a guest!
A big house, a fair park
======================================== SAMPLE 2 ========================================
<|endoftext|>
One who desires to succeed without going far ahead is not always successful. One who fears loss must be cautious in their actions. One who thinks they are in control is always restless. One who expresses fear of dying is unconcerned. These are the three characteristics of those who are dissatisfied with themselves.
Such things are not good fortune. They are not things people ought to cherish. If you cannot win, discard it.
Thus, the Tao that can be followed is the great Tao.
<|endoftext|>
The single greatest virtue of man is not to strive after a thing that is complete,
and yet to wish that the thing should last a little longer.
To know the limits of that virtue is not to be moved by excitement.
To know the limits of that virtue is not to be content with nothing.
To know the limits of that virtue is not to expect something for oneself.
To understand this is not to be assured.
This knowledge is contrary to the whole Virtue.
Therefore those of great virtue prefer to have nothing,
and so far as it is possible.
They act without motive.
They do not concern themselves with his qualities.
They do not flaunt his station.
They do not display his wealth.
They do not brag his merit.
Their hearts are not full of worry.
Their minds are not agitated by the external conditions.
Without desire to live for a long time.
Therefore the great man is also content.
He is not active, but he does not act.
He does not delight in wealth,
and so he does not brag about it.
He is not looking for contentment,
but he is content to live.
To be content to live is to be in accordance with the principle of the great virtue.
<|endoftext|>
To be contented means to let go of all hope,To be contented means to be untiring,To be untiring means to have little to wish for,To have little to wish for means to be without ambition,To be without ambition means to be fulfilled.The ten thousand things desire much that they are not long-lasting.To wish that you be long-lasting is to be restless;To wish that you be free of many things that you are is to be full of selfishness,When you are full of selfishness, you are in excess of yourself;When you are

Heavy, firm and hollow -

Impossible to complete.

Closer to it can come,
Do not be satisfied with your power.

Take the Tao as your official rule;
make it your part of your daily life.
Carry a cup of water that is not full,
and it will not empty.
Grab your sword's edge,
and it will not break.
Grow old in wealth and ambitions,
and it will not end.
The inexhaustible supply of the world
is not enough.
Set the world's hunger at ease.
Polarise the world's disharmony
And the world will be as it was before.
What is conventional is not good.
Lucky is not rich.
Respect is not glory.
That is why Tao is as good as the rules of the Te.
<|endoftext|>
To know the secret of Tao is to have true selfhood, to cultivate the outer self, and to keep the inner self whole.
How great is the surprise! To have lost his sense of self, and to be without self:
The world is made full of quiescence.
What the inner self prefers can never be reached.
The world is made by the outer self.
What the inner self prefers cannot be lost.
The world is made by the outer self.
Losing the inner self is as important as losing the outer self.
Obtaining the outer self by losing the inner self, is to become inferior.
To become inferior is to make a fool of yourself.
It is as if heaven or earth were making something up.
<|endoftext|>
Always yield, so that you can stand.
Never yield, and you cannot return.
Soft and yielding, it is not long before you disappear.
Filled with every dutiful impulse, it is not long before you are empty.
Desires and ambitions to show off, and fame and wealth are both horrid.
Far from it, that is why the sage rules

Lao Tze says:"The good does not blow without bowing down to the Tao,The good makes empty arms empty to use,Good finishes weapons empty,Good settles matters without touch.Such is an attitude that benefits one's own growth and growth."

When the high grade of the ancient ones made passing way to be true; then was it that,
(to) the end the highest princes held it in consideration.
Without the use of a bow and bow, or any other weapon, the sword will not have the sharp edge for ever.
Without the use of gold and jade, a king would never be able to get them.
Thus a ruler who treasures himself and honours himself, honors not himself, or honouring himself, honours not himself.
Such a one will not grow.
<|endoftext|>
When the best things come into being,
they do not act without a cause.
When heavy things have been fashioned,
they do not resort to them for their production.
And gold and jade are superfluous,
and yet they are not left out.
(When) a place is set in order,
its mere existence is not honoured.
(When) the use of arms is made;
its completion cannot be duly celebrated.
These (extraordinary) things are of use to those who take them to be.
They do not presume to act upon them.
(When) one is in greatness,
one must retire to the easy way of the lowliest (tao).
(When) the noble is founded,
all he lacks is the straw (to support it).
When the most high places are made,
they are empty without using them.
(When) the use of weapons is made;
there is no harm done.
(When) a place is established;
it is nothing more than the leftover husk of earth.
Therefore, the earth is their downfall.
(The "easy way" of the lowliest things).
Such is the way of the world.
(The way of) the great.

To hold on to your destiny Is to live out your life.
To be an observer of heaven and earth Is to be conscious of the subtleties of the laws of the universe.
To be rich in gold and jade Is to be conscious of the strength and coarseness of the earth.
To be an observer of other parts of the world Is to be conscious of its manifestations.
To be proud of one's wealth and to praise one's merit Is to be aware of the workings of the economy of the world.
To be ignorant and hasty is to miss the mark.
To hold on to the outcome of something is to remain steadfast.
To fill a jar of jade With a cup of liquid water Is not as good as to stop in time.
To cut an edge in an artisan blade Is not as good as to treat it lightly.

To be rich in gold and jade
Is to experience the might of the realm.
To be an observer of the self
Is to experience the true goodness of the world.
To be disconsolate and possess the arrogant
Is to be a failure of a ruler.
To be conceited and arrogant
Is to be an echo of a dead one.
Holding on to the result is to ensure long life.
Working with tools of the mind

To love and respect your fellows
Is to be a source of the Tao.
Not striving

In striving to stay well within the dojo, one should remember the need to observe the true nature of the universe, the manifestations of existence, and to experience the inner lives of all.
To become a false observer of a strange, wondrous world, one must only observe the "similarities" of the multitudinous things.
To be rich and arrogant is to have the best interests of the state,
Not to learn

The earth cannot be plucked and polished.
But gold and jade cannot be mixed and polished.
Therefore the sage takes to himself,

To cherish and treasure gold and jade,
And to accept of prosperity
And to be frugal with oneself,
will bring about a loss of his (or her) eternal life.
All this has been the work of heaven;
Such is what hath been the rule

Better than music is art.
Better than gold is work.
Better than weaponry is war.
Better than proudness is the way.
Better than wealth is ruin.
To wear the honour and to be rich are opposites.
To have sharp weapons and to use them is counter-intuitive.

Empty yourself completely of possessions and you will gain great benefits.
Empty your mind completely of thoughts and the mind will gradually dissipate.
Wear the greatest conceivable respect for your body and your body will naturally dissolve.
Follow the Great Tao and you will be mowed down by an assassin's blade that is always nailing your own left.

Make effortless exertion useless, then

2. Cultivate your mind's potential with words and keep them always alive.
3. Cultivate the potential of your belly with gold and sharpness, then sharpen it and dull it.
4. Clot up your entourage and barter them with gold and jade.
5. Wear royal and exalted garments, then guard with swords.

Failing to laugh when

Failing to show off when your vase is filled

Failing to lead when your vision is sharpened
Is in a bad way,And a foolish leader will go astray.
Failing to nurture when your mind is clear
Is in a bad way,And a foolish mind will bring misfortune upon yourself.
Heaven's Way, these three phrases are called paradoxes:
Knowing they may be paradoxes,
Set them aside, and keep the Way.

When a man has shown himself wrong, one should not laugh at him.
When a man has shown himself good, one should not praise him.
When a man has shown himself foolish, one should not praise him.
When the mind is clear, the body appears mischievous.
When gold and jade and bells and precious stones are offered to the eyes, they lose their brightness and become tarnished.
The foolish man will not withdraw from what is happening, or be disinterested.
After his work is completed, he does not rave and rave. He does not prize himself or get angry. He is content and contented with the outcome. This is the reason for Heaven's Way, which means:
Lao tzu expressed:
"When you fail,
be very careful about how you stand.
When you are lost,
be careful about how you walk.
When you have left behind,
be very careful about how you use.

How can we keep functioning at the level of the Tao?
Hence, we need to keep down to a standard.
From the standard, we can improve a lot.
From the improve, we can expand the system.
From expanding, we can even gain success.
From gaining success, we can only stumble.
He who is haphazard in his actions and taking unnecessary risks has no regard for what's best.
The whole world knows that he's nuts.
He is well known as crazy.
Being insane means that he's inexhaustible.
How can we make things go smoothly
in this wise?
How can we accomplish the work without the use of using force?
Hence, that's the form of Tao that I'll follow.
<|endoftext|>
Without resorting to excitement, trembling, rumble, thrill, brink, let go of excitement, trembling, rumble, thrill, precipitate; forget the law of th' action, then let go of it, withdraw without hope, forget the deed of inaction. So let go of the excitement of struggle, letting go of the passion of hope, let go of the fear of the credit of things to come. Use your action without force to win; use your effort to win, use your act without use, you may attain what you desire. [Being with all under Heaven, I see this well enough.]

Though you laugh aloud or flutter, you do not topple.
You will not fall over.
The world makes light of you, but you laugh and weep with them.
The wise man withdraws.
The world laughs.
The wise man makes light of them.
People laugh at him.
The wise man becomes indifferent to them.
Then he is surrounded by ridicule.
The wise man uses his words, words with force and respect,
but he is disconsolate and shows them.
They would rather be ridiculed.
Things in the world get turbid;
they are depressed and have abandoned their work.
When they are lost, the method is their substance.

If you are putting your life on hold,
your strength won't last.
Achievements cannot be used if you don't want to complete them.
If you are sitting on power, you become stubborn.
If you think you have everything, it won't come.
If you always push things forward, you will forget what it is you are for.
If you crave success, you'll stumble.
Do what you have to do, then leave.
Do things you love, and the result is loved as well.
Learn how to never let yourself rest in the past.
Then you can have something new, even if you didn't think about it in the past.
###
When holding on to your life-force, to your strength, things will fail you.
To learn the great things, there is nothing to do.
To learn things that are hard, to fail, you will lose everything.
To grasp in possession and use it, this is called personal madness.
When you have no force, nothing is free.
To handle things with your hands, this is called stupidity.
To have a want of success, you will lose in the end.
A problem that is real for one does not need to be invited to the feast.

Before acting, it is better to keep quiet. Don't be the one to act, because the next step can only be well thought of.
When things are hard, it is better not to let them get too hard.
If you have control of energy, it's better not to let you lose it.
To be stubborn will make it fail. To be stubborn will ruin it. If you have a lot of possessions, it will lead to a shortage. To be stubborn will destroy it.
Successful people try to be as ordinary as possible.
They live like common people.
They are neither stressed nor excited.
They may even get the job done, but they don't rush in.
Don't force anything, anyway.
If you have a problem, don't let it settle.
This is called staying in your body.
When you can't do anything, be there for the next step.
Keep acting, anyway.

If you find it difficult to follow in the footsteps of Te, it will be difficult for you to stay.

Because the wise man does not aim at the obvious,
He is able to see the subtle under the surface.
When the wise person understands that everything is generated,

Discard the pretension and move on. Accept The truth. Cling to the Light. Live life to its fullest.
Only when all things are in harmony do you see the fruit of your labor. But if you squander the fruit, you'll spoil the way you live. Cling to the Light is the Way, The Way serves as the guide. Inwardly you will see the flaw, Outwardly you see the beauty. Confidence can go astray. Confidence is ill received. Confidence is wasted confidence. It is the fool's way out.

In ancient times, heaven and earth are like those with which man is innately connected. Heaven and earth must not be attempted on. For example, when heaven and earth are overwhelmed, an observer of destiny would have to abandon the outcome of his intentions. If heaven and earth are intermixed with much (yin and yang), then more and more things will be made, and so more and more things will be deluded. More and more things will be ruined, more and more things will be left in confusion. And this is an endless cycle. The scheming planner (tzu) fails. The pre-emptive planner (tzu) succeeds. For Heaven and Earth, the problems do not stop. Therefore they have completed their work.

In ancient times, heaven and earth were like the valley beneath a great house;
When heaven and earth overfilled, Heaven and earth experienced exhaustion, and
After exhaustion, death ensued.
A strong soul would fail, and the lesser soul would succeed.
In the case of the house:
If the house is ably quartered,
there is a greater chance of disaster
If the house is surly,
There is a greater chance of failure
The Wise Person does not quarrel;
He simply does his job.

Long since, in time of harmony, heaven and earth had serene simplicity, filled with pleasant completeness, And even at a time when men acted according to calculation The sky was clear, still and perfect. But in their great temptations there was always danger - the tempting and the unheeded. Things grew and became more cunning. The wise person had in order to guard and keep order That he loved things enough to overcome them. Although heaven and earth are like valleys, and the heaven and earth like fine silk-dye, And the wise man loves to put himself under them, The sage cannot evade, and not one of his actions shall fail Him.
<|endoftext|>
In olden times the earth and sky were tranquil, like gentle valleylets, in peace, with perfect repose. On higher and lower motives all kinds of madness were wanting, thus they threatened to outstrip each other. So we can see how low life might proceed: in its wantonness, in its selfishness, in its excesses, in its unkindness, in its arrogance

Teachers can look into the back of the room;
can tell when they have sufficient proof.
A traveling trader, when he comes to the port,
will speak first of the vessels,
with much ado;
and with less ado he will empty them.
Between a person with faith and a fool,
there is a dark corner.
In the future the sage must consider this:
if he tries to act without forethought,
what will he do in the end?
One who tries to act with timidity
comes at the worst time.
There is danger to trust the ancient advice:
"Let him who has faith then know that he cannot trust."

He who hears about these books will also know that there is no way to know them. He who knows about them will also know that things will not go well. The sage always speaks from a position above, just before, he speaks at a time when the other will not come to him; speaking at a time when there is a counter of resistance. Whenever this counter is raised up, which is again raised up, then everything will go wrong, and again everything goes right. He whom the sage sees in this way comes close to justice.
<|endoftext|>
He who knows of the wondrous teaching finds no fault in its application. He who knows of the marvelous capability finds fault in its use. When a group of people meets to have a common feast, they all lean on their forearms to grasp the center-pieces of a huge pot, then an overflowing guttersnatch. He who brings this on himself sees it result. A wise person is always near the present, as if he were something that is about to fall, a time when nothing could hold him back.

Lao Tze says, "He who knows that he is the Source, He who attends to the watchword, he who harbors all under heaven, although they may suffer he does not hurt them,Though he may lose them, he finds them, Does not abandon them, as a guest."These are all to be esteemed, and the more one does them the the happier the guests.Therefore he who is in a state of care lets his true talent be spent, for when he is subdued he is at rest.That is why he rejoices in joys like the lecherous man who has met his passion. He who is in the way of Tao is like a vessel which is empty of its stuff, filled with sustenance, in the climax of his natural natural urges, and let it work for him, like a flood which rushes in the winter.Therefore, the Sage keeps his relationship with nature as the most rarefied, the most furtive, the most hidden, the most mysterious, the most guarded. What he does and does not do, it is what he does and does not do.

Lao Tze says:
If we know the origin of life, this knowledge helps us to take care of life; if we pay attention to the nativity of life, this awareness serves us to take care of the newborn. If we observe the goals of life, this knowledge guides us to safeguard them, when we lose them, we will find them; if we observe the advantages of life, this awareness nurtures them, when we lose them, we will find them; and if we observe all things' condition, this awareness aids in their development.
