The sage who knows, rejects not.The sage who does not know, yet not rejecting,Is yet to him nothingness. The solitary traveler departs without parting. The bent and slack walk together. The high and low clang together.Music and voice fill the whole room. The people run and breathe.Things come to their nature and do what they will. The wordless teachings of a sage are like sounds coming from the mouth of a fish.He who knows nothing has become what he is.He who knows a lot has already lost all.He who follows his will and does what he pleases is the possessor of the rule of Tao,For there's no other way.He who enters into life and dies; For him, Tao only exists.

Those who know not will lead others to be too free; Those who know are unselfish do not take more than they want. Those who are always where they are not are solitary travelers in nature; Those who are always at one with Nature never fail to gain complete balance; Those who differ in quality of living always rejoice in differences; Those who are always selfless never seem self-appeasing;Those who will have it all always find joy in failure. And the great Tao-scholars of old were said to be discerning on the cause of the great Tao:To know the source and way of everything that exists is to be able to know the beginning of existence. To know that there is something beyond the natural world is to be capable of understanding how the world was started. If one's work is spontaneous, one cannot control events. One's knowledge is always fully complete. One can be selfless, and others will also be selfless, without losing a single person. One's doctrine gives life and leads to acceptance. Being born of the wordless teaching of the great sages is like being born of the fruit of the highest tea in the mouth. To the adept one is but one of many things that is born of Tao.Those who cannot rely on the Way can only delight in gossip.

It is their having virtue.

So they are virtuous, because they have no virtue

The ten thousand things are done with ease.
When the Tao is understood by only an infinitesimal degree,
The ten thousand things can be identified.
When only the infinitesimal degree is misunderstood,
The ten thousand things remain perplexed.
When the infinitesimal degree is lost,
The Tao can be acknowledged.
When a genuine Taoist reveals it to anyone,
It is known by all.

The best way is not the easy way
Of which we may think there is much;
It is only an easy way that is easily made.
The best way of all these is not the easy way.
It can hardly be made easy.
The best way is that which has its limits.
To know its limits is to know its reality.
To understand its reality is to know that to which there is no returning.
To know this is to know that other realities exist.
To know other realities is to be free of the limitation of time.
To know limitation of time is to know oneness with the Eternal.
The four directions converge in the center of the earth,
and are separated by what I call the subtle potential.
The shape of the subtle potential is that which has no shape.
It is something having no shape, and so by knowing what it is we can know what we must not know.
To know what we must not know is to know in the world.
The four directions converge in the center of the earth,
and separated by the subtle potential.
The shape of the potential is the origin of the four directions.
All four directions can be seen at the same time, and their differences are well-defined.
Knowing this unity of the four directions is to know of the mystery of the world.
If we only know this unity of the four directions, we understand the light of the mystery.
The best way is always the easiest,
and the least difficult the hardest,
the best ways are not easily found,
the least difficult ways are
always there.

knows the presence of non-duality.
Whoever observes the center of the universe with indifference and suffering is
observed by this presence.
Whoever observes the center of the universe with taking delight in its diversity and events is
observed by the existence of the presence of non-duality.
All beings find beauty in this diversity, and this diversity exists in all beings.
Difficult and easy follow each other, time and space follow each other.
High and low merge and fall,
sound and silence stir;
forests and valleys reveal each other,
fairy-tales and rites are rehearsed;
this is what may be called the universal, and it is the destination of all men.
In this way,
absorbed within non-self the One will encompass them.

If the sage uses the ultimate support to protect the beloved from harm,
It's because he considers the other people like children.
If the sage uses the ultimate support to harm the beloved,
It's because he considers the other people as parasites.
If there is harmony in the universe and it's boundaries can be known
and people have the right to feel they're in harmony,
Then they're free to love the world,
And all the things of the world.
Things go on.
The Way is always at work in everything
Being aware of the activity of the world is the most important condition
Of realizing complete nature within.

When the masters of the Way follow the DAO
They abide in the complementarity of goodness and harmlessness.
When the masters of the Way refrain from good deeds and harmlessness
They abide in the union of peace and goodness.
Peace and goodness are two in one: therefore they inspire good and bad and balance cause and effect.
Lao Tze says, "If good and bad
Are expressed in the same common subject:
They are mutually integrated."
In that same subject,
The cycles of life and death can be perceived;
The great natural signs can be appreciated;
The old and the new can be named;
Man and Nature work together in harmony to complete their destiny.

To know beauty is to know beauty's usefulness, the usefulness of what you know is hidden. To know misfortune is to know how you lose the people in misfortune. Know beauty is known to be within beauty. To know good is known to be within good. To know difficult is known to be within easy. To know long is known to be within short. To know low is known to be within high. Music and wind make long sound. The empire of Heaven is at its rising, at its setting. Without it the man becomes ill. Without it the man remains whole. The sage keeps no "man" in the world; he acts upon that invective. For there's no "man" in the world, but a clever word upon the tongue.
<|endoftext|>
Heaven will smile on the deviled treeAnd bend it to the man's needsAnd make it his ruleAll around the world this becomes true.Without Tao, heaven is indifferentTo the newness, the babe's lack.Without goodness, goodness is indifferent to the ignorance.Without difficulties, difficulties are indifferent to the abysmal.Without lowliness, lowness is indifferent to the high.Without noise, silence is indifferent to the world. All virtue arises where there is music and light.

Heaven knows that it has a beautiful tree.
It will show favour to the person of the prettiest.
Heaven will not discriminate between man and beast, but he will look at him as if he were an animal.
Hence he will permit the people to have luxuries without luxuries being pried out of them.
Therefore, when there is a foolish man, there are jockeys in the world.
And if a man does not do this, he will bring back what has been stolen.
Therefore the sage follows the Tao that the words are not looked upon with contempt;
If one speaks indifferently of that Tao, the people who have no care for their words will know what to say.
The simple trader knows that he should withdraw himself from all else.

When the great leader lacks a clue,
the people inevitably flock to him.
How to promote them Is to practice a square, not a square.
Developing the humble and not claiming the fame,
obtaining the people's confidence.
Being a good leader requires nothing more than giving.
Yet the sage knows where to stop.
He knows where to begin.
<|endoftext|>
The square is the source of all the others;
While the horizontal is the root of the others.
As for the others:
Following a people are its innumerable deceptions.
The people are clever;
The people are vain.
Therefore the sage keeps himself
self-sufficient in giving;
not concealing himself,
distinguishing what is self-sufficient from what is self-displaying.
And when the Sage has possessed
all things, he regards nothing as his private property.
He lives the natural way and resides
in his inner state;
to do things rightly means he follows the rules.
(Therefore he is not respected, disliked, or feared).
Therefore the man of rare learning regards the sage,
and on receiving the lesson
will practice it diligently.
Lao Tze says,
The square is the origin of the square,
as well as the origin of the rope;
thus the rope is the root of the people;
and therefore the people are clever and conceited;
and the people are cunning and conceited.
Therefore the sage follows himself;
does not possess, receives, and loves.
Therefore he gives without possessing, receiving without loving,
in order to do good.
If he were not good, He would not be liked, admired, or feared.
He would live the way of Nature, and could not realize Goodness.

The Tao, manifested in man, is different from the Tao in God, both in its universality and in the energy and ability it has given to the human mind.
Both in their essence the Tao flows from the soft and forgiving and is like unto the voice of a child.
It does not insist on desires or desires within it, it is free of belief and it allows each and every human being to develop their own uniquely life style, their own philosophy.
Therefore the Sage does not make any claims about the universe or nature; does not preside over rites to the universe or nature.
He is present without being aware of himself or her presence, and is from without without making claims about any of his words.
The myriad things come about naturally, without purpose or desire, as all because of what they lack. He creates without possessing.
He is without appearance or sound.
He is the origin of the myriad sounds, the origin of the tones.
He is not clever, is not clever at all.
He produces the natural order, natural in its law, and is without differentiation, without ornament, without movement.
He produces the natural state, but does not exist, but is at one with this in every manner.
He is not influenced by any other person or culture; he is the one man of action, is the one set of laws.
One needs not have any other idea.
It is he, the Tao, that is the eternal principle, the source of all existence.

He who knows the empty path cannot be master of himself.
This is because the empty is the origin of the different.
What is not true and true is the content of the other.
What is not enough and insufficient is the expression of the other.
We all need to learn to do what we know
and what is needed.
If you can learn to think of this

If you learn to let the Tao

When he who knows good sees what it means, he is aware of his goodness.
When he who knows good looks at what it means, he is aware of his evil.
What is between them is so great that we could neither have it nor understand it.
One who understands it is in accordance with the Tao.
He who is ignorant of it loses this.

To see that there is nothing end and begin is a virtue. In the world, each thing gives birth to the other, but if you know how to get rid of that, you will understand life. That is what all enlightened people do. For example: All people in a nation are clever and clever people in the nation are good people. And the common folk trust people without much thinking. People go around and do good without looking for it. People take charge of their responsibilities and not with the purpose of being successful, but without envy or sense of superiority. Beauty shall soon fade, yea, withdraw the soul from its destiny. The sages, embracing the Tao, call it no name, will readily allow. It is a lasting one. No wonder its name is without a beginning.
To forget is called 'the beginning'
To see no more is called 'the end'
Beauty, has existed, can exist no more.
Empty your mind of all that is false, and nothing is lost.
To see this is the first step in being aware of emptiness
To recognize no one is as true as none other
To preserve a false is the beginning of being in touch with reality
To know that not everything is true, is the beginning of knowing that things are truly
In practicing your doctrine and being aware of your existence, and knowing what is real, is giving true life to the universe.

To see beauty fades away beauty will soon fade from one's soul
The wise man's aim is to remain simple in mind so as to live, Being cut off from all complexity.
The thing in the appearance of beauty is transient And lasting: When you do not know this then you have no understanding of its worth.
Hence the name of beauty is the beginning of ugliness:When you know that ugliness exists You know that you cannot be wise.
Truly one shall know without effort and a solid mind, Keeping to what is and is not; Not knowing the names of objects. The intelligent man, though knowing the names of things, Ever without thought of what he knows them for.
Indeed, he denies that he knows things but he stands before the universe with a clear mind.

When all the world calls beauty ugly, there is ugliness. When they all call good things ugly, there is evil.So the world has developed into these. The five elements united generate the ten degrees; so the ten degrees create the five degrees. The highest of the highest, the lowest of the lowest, equal of the highest of the highest creates the lowest of the lowest. The most expansive of the most expansive, the darkest of the darkest, the unfathomable of the unfathomable, unity of the opposite of each other, be guided by this. Therefore, ancient kings

The people of the world say that they are beautiful and ugly,That they are deep and thin,That they have charm and destroy,That they are strong and weak. Now we must take them to mean:What is beautiful is ugly. What is deep is thin. What is strong is weak. What is in the center is negative. What is far away is close. Therefore the ancient man will take the things,And the things take him to mean:The things which we say are beautiful are ugly. The things which we say are deep are thin. The things which we say are strong are weak. The things which we say are in the center are negative. The things which we say are far away are close. Therefore the old people regarded everything as a big black hole. Therefore, they give up self-mastery and have free will.

The entire world regards these (The Dao) as ugly. The people of the world regard them as ugly.Is this all there is to it? Is all this false perception in the world? Why are people so afraid of being ugly? Therefore, the Sage turns away from that and just perceives it all. The sage is content to think about it all, doesn't presume to be one with it. In this way, the old man finds his own nature here and doesn't find it threatening. Therefore, he seems to exist, and he doesn't get afraid.

Beauty and ugliness are closely related. They should be regarded as one and the same. Therefore the sage insists on never comparing things and does not presume to be an objective observer of things. This is why he is centered

How much beauty depends on beauty.
How much truth depends on truth.
How much flavor restrains, this distresses,
This action.
What others call good, I call bad.
What others call good, I call bad.
What others call good, I call evil.
And so it goes!
The work is more that its own self.
The Tao is all and nothing.
The Teh is constant, continuous, whole.
Go into it, and you will not see end.

Beauty-hating and having a bad attitude depend on one another:
Tao is far from being happy.
Listening and feeling a child, don't tell me,
If the way of the world is any good!
What other people call themselves,
I've already decided to call them out of hand.
These words: 'wise' and 'moronic'
are just trying to tinkle them on and off.
How can these words be so important to the Tao,
when we try to live the old way?
If we cannot accept this way,
We cannot live in this world.
When the state of Te can no longer be maintained,
All men will in turn reject the old Tao.
Because the old Tao cannot be rejected,
There is no failure in the world.
In this way, Teh is nothing other than a universal evolution.

Beauty implies both greatness and inferiority. If beauty is not enough to serve, then they are left with lesserness. If the subordinate cannot value his lot above that of his superior, then it will be just as impertinent as if he regarded his state and culture above the frugality of his allegiance. When all under heaven knows the bright, then it will know disorder. When the clever is aware of the dark, then it will know harmony. Who knoweth the future but does not know the past? Without seeming to know, they can long remain cognizant. The virtue of the Tao is not from possessing to think or to move in time as though the Tao could never be grasped by anyone. The virtues of the Tao cannot be conceived. The virtues of the Tao cannot be named, nor can the virtue of the Tao ever be spoken of. The virtue of the Tao is indistinct and intangible. Virtues and vices come into comparison and conflict. Each virtue and each fault is called upon to be compared with another virtue or fault. Each virtue and each fault is called upon to be compared with another virtue or fault. The virtue and the Tao become one and serve each other: each virtue is supported by virtue, and each defect is supported by fault. The Tao and virtue become one and serve each other: virtue and virtue complement each other, and faults and virtue complement each other. The adept understands the Dao by seeing it, and the resulting identification of Dao with the experience of seeing is inextricable from this.
Any perception of the Dao, one simply observes.
The identification of the Dao with the perception of the Dao is an illusion.
The Dao is experienced through any sensing, but there is an external experience, too, that is the same as the Dao.
It is with external experiences that the myriad qualities of the Dao arise.
The adept has no need for external experiences to experience the Dao.
Just as an experience of the tides is imperceptible with one's eyes, the experience of Dao is equally so with any perception.
Both experiences are distinct and distinct.
Observing both is to observe the Dao.
Predicting this is to experience the Dao.
That is how one can understand the Dao.

For Wit is the Inner Pine. And men always do This, when they see Beauty.
And so there will be an everlasting impulse.
When people try to be skillful they all turn to idleness,
And thus their own folly is
Long established.
Hence the chief proclivities, when they get it,
Their justice is complete.
When men give up their lawlessness,
It is that they gain All Rightness.
When men seek Exaltation,
Then All Rightness is attained.
Thus it is in Nature, That when the DAOUTYN get fully achieved,
There will be the DEWE.
When the DAOUTYN get rid of their need to glory,
There will be the rite-retirement.
Thus in the course of natural Laws,
They make sure that No credit, no renown is lost.
They want to impart their law by everything,
And have no choice but to do so.
When the DAOUTYN get rid of their hope and look,
And no prodigality happens,
The DAOUTYN makes use of them.
He takes them where he wants, and nothing is left undone.
That's why the great men
Maintain complete observance of the DAOUTYN.
The teaching of even the smallest details is all done within the DAOUTYN.
They just don't talk
About it.

Presence and absence each
And so on.
Holding fast to what cannot be held
That is led by those who are not knowledgeable
There are those who are knowledgeable
Those who are not knowledgeable
Those who are knowledgeable
Knowledge is a thing to be
A state of being
A sign which cannot be taken
When your teacher speaks
The people listen
Holding to his words
"It is not me"
Holding to the shadow
"I am!"
Holding to his good
"I do not have to know."
Holding to his wisdom
"You must have a lot to know!"
Holding to his directions
"Not to complicate it!"
After this:
This may be considered as the beginning of the Great Tao.
Holding to his word,
You can expect the worst.
Abandon your path and guard the Gate.

The beauty of the Earth is that those who value beauty are not identified with cleverness and the lessons of clever learning.

Discernment does not make a thing prettier than it is.
It makes it plainer.
Though there is something that cannot be seen,
though there is something that cannot be inferred,
discernment reveals what is hidden,
and that which is indistinct shows where there is something.
When wisdom makes a thing clear, it cleverness makes it broad,
and that which is long renders it short,
discernment may take a position,
but it must stand still, for there is nothing to return to;
and though it may be long, it must be short.
There is a position that is not a position.
For this reason, the Te is like this:
That which seems most plain is the most obvious,
and that which is most difficult is the most impossible.
There is the concept of end;
there is the concept of beginning.
The thing that is clearest, though the simplest,
is the clearest.
When things come to an end, they are cut into parts.
Where the action takes place, there is the connexion.
The Te is like this:
To me, simplicity is clearest,
and the simple is hardest,
but in the end, cleverness will give, and the difficult,
and the impossible.
It is like having something to follow;
having it to follow,
it may be long,
but it will be short,
it may be strong,
but it is weak,
because of how much it rests on the people.
The leader, like the people,
relies on him work to maintain order, and to keep the empire on the move.

The One who knows no falsehood, nor hears falsehood,
hears, indeed, that which is not so.
The One who knows the Tao is clear.
He is without desire, and without desire does not fall into confusion.
He will seek, and he will find; his search and his finding, being inseparable;
the Tao-grasping is a profound perception.
The Tao itself is passing,
as the air that passes through a piece of glass.
He who understands this no less than he

The blind see only dark shapes; the blind see only bright objects. The wise see only in the present; the wise see things in themselves. Thus the blind see the light; the wise see dark. For the senses seek what is in front; the senses search what is behind. Yet, it is necessary to differentiate the light from the dark, the front from the back, and the brightness from the darkness. The wise man searches for what is done, and asks for no credit, so he learns nothing from this. He who needs no praise for what he does, is naturally free from any criticism. That which he does is that which he accomplishes; that which he does not do is that which he did.
<|endoftext|>
No matter how deep one goes, the ultimate depth is only the next. Wonders of the world appear as ugly when viewed from the side. The wise man sees things from his center.

The intelligent person cannot see the things that are beyond him. The man of average (or even average-IQ) person is blind in his attempts to understand. He has no choice but to accept the way the original matters: what is isn't.The mediocre person is sensitive to differences: on the one hand, being either good or bad is seen as differently but not undesirable, on the other, a bright thing is treated differently and not appreciated. In order to understand what is and to be free from what is, we need to go one step further and look at that which is further away. Thus, it is that the intelligent person simply sees that there is something and does nothing and that there is something further away that is the same as the same as it. He is naturally content with simply seeing the side of things. Thus, if he were to want to become enlightened, he would have no choice but to accept the way things are.He is never in the least confused. The intelligent person is in agreement with Tao, and can see things in the perspective of the Tao. That is why he sees the image of Tao, not in terms of what it looks like, not as being good or bad, but in its good and bad side.He has nothing to desire, and can't see anything at all. It is therefore a very rare event for him. He is therefore one who needs no help. One who has a strong grasp of Tao, does not see what is afar.He is content

The Formless of Tao, they are endlessly ephemeral, they will never cease to exist. Therefore, those who understand the Tao understand it formlessly,The Tao masters do not show off,the order of Tao is indeed not so strict, it is clear and thorough, the fast of Tao is still, and it is equitable, it is natural and natural in nature, the Tao masters should follow in your footsteps.

The intuitive mind is forever and ever-lasting. The thing in the world cannot measure it down. Therefore the Master avoids short-handed answers, and regards the Tao as light as lightness. Therefore, the light in the universe is evident, the hard to see is invisible, the long-lasting is indeed real. Therefore the Master always serves Tao. He doesn't dare to be selfish. The Master never acts on his desires, but is the one on time with nature. The Tao Master may take a step that others didn't. This is clearly different from acting on desires. He's not a man who is content with what he have, nor do his actions show things selfishly. The Tao Master is like a gentle guest, being he is not a worldly man.The Tao Master must not act selfishly in relation to others. It is truly different from others' actions. It is because he has no desires, that he does not make things selfish. Therefore, he can change the world, that he does not compete with other. And he also shows in others' intentions without expecting anything.Since the Tao never changes, the Masters' attitude will be outstanding.

Precious Things are magnificent. That is, glorious as viewed through human eyes, as beautiful as viewed through natural eyes,
understanding their essential mystery, and believing in their greatness. One may contemplate beauty as seen by man, and should not turn away from the sight of things. Things that are light are dim, without light they become dark; things that are bland are bitter; things that are uneven are rounded; things that are thin are thick; and things that are rough are smooth. The lower depths are smooth. The still is in balance. It is achieved through doing nothing and not having achieved anything. Having achieved nothing, he follows without intent; he abandons and becomes inactive; he is silent; he seeks no credit; and he is deemed to have no place among the things. The importance of this teaching is its long-lasting value. He who brings up a child can take such teaching into his own hands. He who follows this teaching leaves his experience behind. His understanding is all-embracing. It doesn't regard credit or debasement. Therefore, it becomes useful for the surrounding culture.

The ultimate art is called beauty -
art whose power is in its simplicity.
And what is ugly becomes glorious.
To be understanding,
Is beauty.
It is the same as seeing things
They are ugly
But if you look carefully
You see they are beautiful.
Dark makes it light
Broad makes it curved
The earth softens it
But if you follow it you will see
We cannot know its beginning
Its cause has no name.

Heavenly beauty is heaven's whiteness
And the abyss' sharpness.
The golden-haired man's shape
Is an ugly image:
Yet the abyss' opening
Is deep.
The limitless desert
Is the infinite ground
All things turn into darkness
And the uncarved block
Must be carved in a vase.
When a group of men is united
They come together and become
A form.
When they are alone
They form an image:
Then he who finds them
Can find them ugly.
He who admires them
Can regard them as imposters:

In matters of great difficulty, there are the tools of man; The tools of man are apt to be ill-omened. Truly, in matters of great difficulty there are only four things that are worth knowing: the Directional: Direction is Direction without Direction; The Excellent: The Excellent without the Excellent; The Luxurious: Luxuries without the Obscure; The Awful: Awful without the Unblameable.
<|endoftext|>
When kings and nobles, together with the state, are at work for the whole world, it is evident that some is made of mediocre tools, and some of not-mere instruments, and that lesser tools are still further inferior. It is like comparing an ox to a cart; which should one lean on for support? Therefore the sage, having received the enlightenment, by no means uses it to further the power of the state; only to investigate. Thus he doesn't regard its use as arrogance, he doesn't compare it to that which the others have done; he doesn't favour any of that which is inferior. When he completes his work, he lets it go. He doesn't act and isn't contending with. If, as he completes his work, others dare to interfere with it, he can then remain alone and unmoved, and, by no means doing anything, doesn't ruin himself.
<|endoftext|>
It is in all that is difficult that a tool is needed.
Only the hard is a tool of good uses.
That which is hard is a tool of bad uses.
So: There is great difference between the soft and hard, the good and the bad.
Only when there are extremes can one use them.
Thereby, too, he sees that the tools are instruments of action, and therefore it is proper to use them, [even though] he cannot use them.
When he completes his task, he lets it rest.
No action means there is no danger.
Therefore, even if there are rulers, they cannot be confused with one another.
When there are rulers and they create the trouble, that is just another matter.
So: He who has reached the state is free of saving for a lifetime.
And that is a strong reason for choosing the life of wisdom.

Those who consider it a beautiful object do not enjoy it; Those who take it too difficult take it as an obstacle. Those who pursue it on a high note are not successful; Those who hold fast to it are not prominent. Those who achieve it, however long, never rely on it, Those who use it, although successful, neither want it nor use it.

Confucius told it: Everything in the world seems to be in a state of decline. Those who know the Tao can neither know the Tao, nor be a part of it. Those who know Tao cannot know Tao, for Tao is an image. The image which sees is enlightened. The one which does not see is dull. When you give the TAO to others, they receive it; when you ignore it, they do not receive it. If you treat TAO as something that is perfect, it is not. If you treat it as something that is not perfect, it will not be TAO. If you have no goals, you can learn. If you have goals, you can also be willfully blind. If you do not make progress, you cannot advance.

The great sage is profoundly wise, but not in tune with his nature. The one who is profoundly wise understands Tao. The one who is not profoundly wise understands not Tao, for Tao is an image. The images of the great sage do not yet know the Tao, but they are enlightened by it.The enlightened one makes great efforts to grasp the true Tao, and the very brightness of the light of the true Tao dims. Great effort is the mark of great effort, and the darker one's work, the greater the difficulty. Great effort serves only to make great effort easier. One who fulfills himself is no greater than one who does not fulfill himself. He who makes great progress cannot advance further. When self-interest is forgotten, self-discipline becomes evident. Thus, those who try to be perfect, develop by being self-disciplined; when a man disdains self-discipline, self-discipline is observed. They are one and the same. At completion of the Tao there is no more Tao; for it has disappeared. He who defines his life by the Tao cannot be attained. He who defines his life by other people's definitions, cannot be attained. Therefore, he attains perfection by not defining his life by other people's definitions, and abandoning other people's definitions.

To know the source of all flavours is as simple as the way to flavor them: the flavour of the Way is as simple as the flavour of the flavours.
That which has been made sweet by flavor takes the flavor away.
That which has been made sour by flavor takes away the sourness.
Both these have the same source: that which is profound and unknown.
Because it is unseen, it can be expressed by flavour;
because it is subtle, it can be expressed by colour.
And because it is unknown, it can be expressed by sound.
Because it is subtle, it can be expressed by sound.
Being subtle, it cannot be amplified; and being loud, it cannot be lost.
With the Way it is ever absent, and flavor is born; with colour, it is ever present.
Being subtle, it is always present; having flavour, it is always absent; and having colour, it is ever present.
Because it is a mystery, it is excluded; and because it cannot be held, it is not discarded.

Wise men have no interest in the beauty of the universe.
Wise men do not dwell in the beauty of the universe.
Wise men dwell in what is known as "evil".
Therefore, [they] achieve good.
They strive to make it perfect.
The harder they work, the more imperfect they become.
The longer they struggle, the more self-contradictory they become.
Achieving what is perfect does not mean to oppose any form.
To oppose any form means to be against nature.
Nature does not oppose its forms, so it cannot oppose them.
Thus, wise leaders do not oppose things.
All things may be commanded, but the sage does not get in the way.
He leads by non-action, by not interfering, by becoming a citizen of the world.
The wise lead by not demanding what is paid for.
He leads by non-doing, by doing.

And yet He is not to be loved or feared,
It's just a proper way, always,
To keep to it;
And yet, there is no one to praise it;
And yet, it never fails to achieve its purpose.
The Way without preference - it is so wholesome
That it can be called badness without preference.
The way that stretches out - it is so vast, so limitless,
That one cannot conceive of its limits;
The Way that is open - it is so full, so vast,
That one cannot conceive of its bounds.
These things are so beyond human reckoning - and yet are so efficacious.
And there is something about them that I also hate:
And yet these things are the ways of the Tao.

In all that I know the human spirit is often in error. The highest and the lowest of humanity are sometimes beautiful; sometimes disgusting. How much more so are heaven and earth. How much more so, how much more so, are people?
Some men are good, and it is their own fault that they are so. Some men are bad, and it is their own fault that they are so. Some men are good, and it is their own fault that they are so; some are not so, and it is their own fault that they are so.

The World regards the nameless the lowly and beautified. The World regards the exalted the fame-less and ugly.
They regard the nameless ugly and delight in praising the exalted. Therefore, the wise do not distinguish good from evil, they regard things as they are.
Therefore, the old are not the same with the new.
So it is with a Sage. The sage is not in activity, and thereby does not appear to others.
It is because he does not appear to others, that he is able to do things himself.
To do things for others is what the Sage does. He accomplishes without trying to persuade, is indifferent to praise, ignores praise, ignores praise, ignores praise. He does not praise himself, does not praise others.
Because he does not praise himself, he has merit.
Because he does not praise himself, he makes people approve of him.
Because he does not approve himself, he is not trusted.
So it is in the path of the Tao.A great path is that which does not strive for self-interest.
It is that which brings about the growth of people.
The Tao leads people in the passage of many things without discouraging them.
A great leader allows all things to happen, lets things happen and does not seek to control.

These three aspects combine to make Heaven-Above, the Source, and Earth, The Feminine, and the Mother, (which is the measure of its existence).

The Sage does not dwell in men's affairs and does not judge.
He does not insist upon others' achievements,

The soft makes heaven-Above come to rest;
The hard makes earth-Defying become real.
Who understands the soft

Those who work hard to achieve their goal
don't get a perfect victory.
Good fortune and misfortune -
these are inevitable.
Thus one who follows Tao
appears intelligent, clever and beautiful.
When one gets it right, one is like a jewel in the world.
When one fails to get it right, one becomes despised by everyone.
Therefore the people of the world will have faith that one who gives up egocentrism is wise enough to conduct the affairs of this world.

A traveler who chooses to follow nature (Lao tze),

One who chooses to follow the example of the world (Yü) receives the blessings of the world.
A traveler who chooses to follow the example of the world (k'ung) is cast out by the world.
Who acts under such circumstances is inscrutable.
Who acts well and finds success, is valued.
Who acts well and fails, becomes a pariah.
Who follows Tao values peace and harmony.
It is the people who find harmony in Tao that are respected and praised.
Those who follow their instincts prefer to trust what the Tao allows them to see.
By following Tao, they are immune to danger.

the one known as the Virgin is often called holy,
the one known as Dao is often called arrogant,
the one known as Principle is often called lowly,
the one known as perfect is often called dusty.
Everyone follows the Principle.
The sage follows the natural way.
He does not interfere in the daily affairs.
He does not seek to take ownership of things.
He does not demand gratitude for things.
Because he does not expect gratitude for things,
there will be no end to them.

In the world of men, the one who has the attributes of goodness is called ugly,
that who has virtues of goodness is called holy,
that who has qualities of goodness is called unfailing,
that who has mildness of heart is called more important,

Heaven and earth have various effects,
Nature and vitality come into being,
nervousness and impatience are produced
The four causes of this might lead to such existence.
Therefore, the Wise Man
absorbs them all and produces them completely.

He who knows what is beautiful has no beauty;
And he who knows what is good does not know good.
He who does not want to be famous
Has no fame.
He who has no desire for fame
Has no desire for fame.
To say 'they complement each other' is a mistake:
Those who have nothing are not well served;
Those who have an abundance of everything are not well served.
The sage rules according to the Tao,
And is not concerned with matter.
He never shows off, and does not show off,
And never seeks fame,
Nor benefits.
He is content with what is.

A wise person knows the prettiness of things and knows what arousees love of beauty. The knowing puts things into a state of perfect harmony. Love of beauty does not wish to abide and to desire the appearance of things that are beyond harmony. The wise person knows that he has nothing and yet wants nothing. He does not want fame and does not want a person.
For he who knows the good will never take from the good. He who knows love of harmony will not act with the love of harmony. The wise person has he who, though he has no possessions, he has also no desire. Because he does not wish to own, he does not begrudge his life.
Because he does not wish to be rich, he does not long for wealth. Because he has no desire for fame, he does not glorify fame.
Because he does not desire to be rich, he is rich and has no desire for wealth.

Beauty abounds in the world and nothing is more beautiful than a thing of its own accord. Nothing is more beautiful than the perfectly feminine. Where the feminine is, nothing is more beautiful. To seek after beauty in things does not augur well for harmony. Better to look to the perfect and your wishes will be fulfilled.

The adept never lives as beauty,

Yet he produces a goodness as well as beauty.
Subtlety, like humility, is good in itself.
How much better!
What is hard, as long as it's not hard, can last forever.
Everything hard, in time it grows, and all are transformed.
The saying, 'Beautiful without being beautiful'
Is not beauty.
What is easy, as long as it's not easy, can last for ever.
What is long-lasting, as long as it's not long-lasting, can never break.

The TAO that can be spoken of is nothing but an ordinary truth.
The TAO that can be understood, but not practised, is but a piece of what is called the profound truth.
The profound truth is only a sketch of what it can be.
The brilliant lesson that can be given, is not a lesson at all.
The splendid achievement that can be set in motion, is not an achievement at all.
The expansive long, the penetrating short, the natural-like, the self-manifested, the flourishing, the long, the violent, the light, the durable, the enduring, are all minor miracles of profound truth.
Great men know the nature of TAO
And do not seek to be esteemed as high officials.

Wherever you look, the one which cannot be seen is bright.

Wherever you look, the one which cannot be seen is difficult.
Wherever you look, the one which cannot be seen is unclear.
When you follow the Way of the Tao, you work in the dark and the light only.
You do not want to possess and act in the dark and the light.

What is good is despised and what is detestable.

Colour and sound produce each other, and the need to be and the need to not be produce each other.
When the words of others harmonize, so do the words of the superior leader.
Thus the adept leader has no desires and still allows his words to complete their life.
No action, no motive, no words.
It is simply because the leader is not distracted by motives and words that his activities are always fulfilled.

What is beautiful is tainted, what is rare is accepted, what is 'special' is opposed.

Music, sound, words harmonize when they create the harmony; harmony is a rare resource, but it is precisely that which makes everything harmonize.
The great leaders do not interfere with what is happening. They do not care about what people say. They do not want to become a stream flowing in front of a stream.
This is because their freedom, as people are free, is pure and unpretentious.

In listening to music that is low-tempo, do you do it lightly, or do you play it loud, or do you finish it quickly? Or do you listen to the story that goes on endlessly?
In order to be beautiful, have you got to have a lot of bling?
Let's say the people of the world say, "All is beautiful," and then people say, "How did the people of the world come to be so beautiful?"
Therefore, in order to be beautiful, you have to have more bling.
All that is more difficult is not as desirable.
The more difficult things are, the more you want to go back.
Everyone of the world says, "Love each other," and I say, "Who else can love me?"
Everybody of the world says, "Live life as if this is a newborn child," and I say, "Who else can live as an old person?"

Whoever regards beauty as a beautiful thing, this person appears ugly. Whoever regards kindness as kindness, this person seems to be evil. Whoever regards wisdom as wisdom, this person appears foolish. Whoever regards the universe as the endless space, nothing is created or destroyed. Therefore: "Whenever something appears beautiful or ugly, it is as being and not-being." Whenever something appears helpful or not-helping, it is as bad or being. And whenever something appears long or short, it is as long or short. Whenever something appears bright or dark, it is as bright or dark. Whenever something appears in front or behind, it is as front or behind. Those who identify with the ten thousand things merely act as shadows of the ten thousand things, but do not allow this to cloud their judgment. Therefore the sage is like an empty vessel; she does not use her sense of gravity to manipulate the ten thousand things. She sees only the white of the surface. The meaning of a sound has no bearing on her mind. Therefore the sage seems to be transient, and she exists for long.

When we know that goodness is goodness,
We may also know that
Then it is the following:
When we know that depth is depth,

Then it is the following:
How these three combine to induce difficult,
And how these three combine to give rise to easy is difficult and easy together!
So it is that the sage aims at nothing whatever and resides in no effort.
He acts simply with no demands;
He dedicates himself to no attainment.
Thus he is always on the Way.
Because he acts without being conscious of it,
He can be without complication.

Easy is but the appearance of difficult.
The great depth is but the appearance of the small;
The great height is but the appearance of the small.
Music is but the appearance of the voice.
Front and back are but the appearance of the road.
What is always doing the doing and ceasing,
That, when all men have accomplished the doing,

The Way doesn't stand on tall places - and what's ugliness what's this?"
The Way does nothing -and what it does, what's done, what's done again -And what's done what's done it again
It's all-inclusive, it's formless -And ugliness doesn't shrink from what it does.
It's true simplicity - it's that - And what's true simplicity is what's true simplicity.
The common man knows it but doesn't understand it,
To him that is just an easy visitor - But the sage is a little stranger.
It's like the Tao -It's just not very helpful.
If you use it too much, you will soon forget.
That's why, the wise person, for once, in speaking,

When all know goodness as goodness,

That being and not-being are one produces what is difficult, what is easy, what is long, what is short, what is high and what is low.
Music and voice is produced by their contours.
Front and back follow from it.

Thus the sage abandons the self and devotes himself to non-action, he knows where the left and the right, the high and the low, the broad and the narrow.
Music is on its way to being master of the world.
It is only the sage who is without self-concept, yet does not separate himself from the world.

To act without action is to lead.
Those who act have no merit.
Those who have no merit have no merits.
Both merit and no-merit have a cause.
The reason the cause has a reason, is that it has no beginning.

Wherever there is goodness, there is lightness:Wherever there is loyalty, there is truth:Wherever there is justice, there is righteousness:When the light and the lightness, truth and justice, become one there will be confusion and folly. Therefore, a good ruler is one who lacks exuberance, not one who is light or angry.A good leader leads with silence, with words, rather than with force and violence. He who has no exuberance leaves his country untouched. He who does not have lightness leaves it all intact. He who has no righteousness leaves it all untouched. When a nation is divided, one must not stir up strife.

When virtue is perfect, beauty can be the measure of beauty.
When virtue is not perfect, there is discrimination.
When kindness is imperfect, justice is inadequate.
When benevolence is not sufficient, selfishness is the rule.
When justice is insufficient, the differences in the legal system become a problem.
When darkness and light harmonize, complexity becomes apparent.
When the glorious and the grand become one, there is chaos and strife.
When all is on the square, one must be careful.
When beauty and light will conflict, one must use benevolence or justice.
When benevolence and justice appear in conflict, then there is the ability to use the power of words.
When "light and brightness" and "complexity" begin to intermingle, then there is the ability to use words.
When the complexity of affairs begins to merge, then there is the ability to use force.
The process of union is a condition

People seeing the beauty of beauty cannot be taught to regard other people as ugly. People seeing the good as good cannot be taught to regard other people as being evil.
Therefore existence and non-existence produce each other. And difficult and easy produce each other. Long and short define each other. High and low rest upon each other. Voice and music harmonize with each other. A step is taken and returned. Therefore the Sage does not act. He teaches and teaches, teaches, then talks. And all things arise and he does not act.
<|endoftext|>
When a sage treats the whole world as an audience to his wisdom, there are no glorious things that stand in his way.
When a sage treats his own self as the subject of his wisdom, there are no superior ones.
Therefore all exist and then there are opposites;
And then the distances of things on account of their distance are upon each other.
And then, how do you see how in the end everything comes to an end?
There are opposites and then there is harmony.
The master knows that there are opposites and has therein a trust that all will be in harmony.
He knows how the lessons from this world arise.
And he never considers himself as special.
<|endoftext|>
A person of high virtue never notices the beauty of what is beautiful;
A person of low virtue sees the ill omen of what is ill omen.
They perceive beauty only by their experience of this other.
The hard is easy and the hard requires much effort. The long takes a long time and the short takes a long time. High and low depend on each other; sound and voice harmonize with each other; motion and rest depend on each other; front and back depend on each other.
Therefore the sage, without artifice, sets about clarifying his own nature. He teaches and rewards. He takes no credit. He acts, but does not intervene. The whole world arises and does not interfere.
<|endoftext|>
Those in whom the knowledge of the subtle truth extends
do not prize the beauty of beauty,
do not prize the good character,
do not prize the bad character.
Therefore,
Genuine goodness follows as it is a consequence of
goodness,
The good character follows as it

The truly wise understand that beauty is not beautiful. In rejecting beauty, they see all things in their natural light. Accepting all things in their natural light, they recognise the part they play in all things. Because people see the social, the material, the spiritual and the worldly as ugly, they respond by naming them.
Because they do not respond with names, the social and material, and spiritual, and worldly become so.
People with the part of a good person understand that even when things are beautiful, they are still beautified. By refusing the beauty, they recognise that things that are beautiful are also ugly.
People with the part of a bad person understand that even when things are beautiful, they are still beautified. By refusing the beauty, they recognise that things that are beautiful are also ugly.
When things exist they respond to what exists. When things disappear they respond to what disappears.
<|endoftext|>
Knowing beauty is not beauty. Beauty is only the shade of darkness.
That which is Good is hated. To hate good is to be good. But when people see good as good,
what is the harm in being good? To become good is the world's hope. The world's hope is what is the aim of the saints.
That aim is the saving purpose of the saints, and it is their glory.
<|endoftext|>
Knowing beauty is not knowing beauty; only good does one see good in others.
Possessing good is not loving others; loving others is to benefit others.
When beauty is seen, people see goodness; and when goodness is looked for, people see ability.
When people see the one as self, what is the bad as self? Theself also exists, in spite of self.
The world does not need the self to save the self, and to the end of time, nothing in the world can harm it.

Abandon beauty or hold to the perennial;
the world is not beautiful and what it sees
is ugly;
no one is good and all things are bad.
Beauty
is not beauty, and yet it is always beautiful;
evil is not evil, yet it is always evil.
All things arise
and are not rejected;
and no one is powerful,
yet all things are potent.
Voice and music harmonize
and guide each other;
front and back follow
and rear follows each other;
front and back
corner each other;
front and back
corner each other;
front and back
back and forth follow each other;
thus, the Wise Person
proceeds without
doing anything and
thus assists all things
in their work.
She gives to all
by not giving;
she does the work and
does not dwell in it;
she does not dwell
in the work;
she does not dwell
in the work;
she does not
delight in it;
so it is always there for all
and not defiled by anything.

Heaven's apophasis, its hold upon things, the world without is not so, and what it sees is not so.
Not the one, but the other.
Not the things, but the things.
Heaven itself does not exist, and yet nothing else.
Other existence never ceases, and yet there is nothing that cannot exist.
The whole world cannot be rejected, yet nothing that is existing remains.
Music and instruments cannot sound, yet the world of action cannot cease.
Then the student knows that what is and what is not
are simply the same:
Without the difference which often seems to exist
They are constantly the same.

Heaven as a whole is holding and making still.
The world is dull to the point of horror.
All creation is without flaws or flaws.
Heaven itself is silent, [yet it still is nothing].
Heaven becomes dark in the mind.
Heaven as a thing is multitudinous,
creative, and mysterious.

When your smile is plain and empty, people don't know you're beautiful.
When your heart is slow and weak, people don't know you're dark.
When your hands and feet are shaky and unsteady, people don't know you're strong.
Your legs don't move, the house doesn't rumble, and you don't have to stay.
Life's done, and now you're free to do more.
<|endoftext|>
When men consider the space between full smile and empty smile,
people do not know what is in the depths of the smile.
When men consider the space between fast and weak step,
people do not know what is in the depths of the step.
When men consider the space between high heel and low heel,
people don't know what is in the depths of the toes.
Therefore when man dwells
in effort, he does not perceive what is so long.
When he dwells in rest, he is in his own action,
And when he takes action, he is in his own work.
Therefore, the sage holds no middle- ground,
She acts and does
without setting up her name,
and teaches without saying,
all these as he accomplishes one thing.
<|endoftext|>
When others look upon a smile as beautiful,
they look upon a heart as weak,
and when they look upon a feeble hand,
they look upon a feeble heart.
When others look upon a stiff upper body,
they look upon a low-down or weak structure.
Therefore, when men live by the activity of being - they do not deem themselves whole.
When they live by the active activity of making sure, they do not deem themselves empty.
When they live by the passive activity of their work,
they work and do not see themselves as a useless useless.
Therefore, through all activity they are whole.

The intelligent observer does not become aware of her presence, for she merely becomes aware of her presence. Although she doesn't see the boundaries of life, we know she is surrounded by life. Therefore she observes life as living. And she observes how things develop, yet she doesn't regard them as being natural. Just as she is impressed by beauty, she also sees the beauty in life. As well as seeing how great countries are, she sees the flaws in them.Just as people are different in how they feel about the world, he sees that these differences can develop.
<|endoftext|>
People who are sensitive to beauty lack perceiving the beauty
To become aware of the beauty is to be aware of the beauty
People who are aware of the beauty lack knowing of the beauty
Those who know the beauty are aware of the beauty
The whole earth must be what the people
Desire
What others desire
Is to be what the others desire
Know how to be beautiful, and the world will be
What people know is true
Is the same as the whole world
For everyone to be how they wish
Is to be the same as the world
Therefore the sage acts without action, teaching without words.
From the world's beginning all things come and go, and the sage does not oppose them.
<|endoftext|>
Those with a good eye for beauty only see what is beautiful, and therefore they do not see the center of beauty. The people around them seem much more beautiful than they are. From one perspective, the state appears glorious. From another, the state is glorious. From another, the whole world seems so. For the sake of saying what is true, the people around them seem to know so much. For the sake of saying what is true, the entire world seems so.

Those who are aware of beauty, cannot see their ugly side.To appreciate beauty, cannot see their dark side.People around the world appear beautiful, yet they are all hideous. The sage responds to people's needs, because he values his existence. Everything is his process.

When beauty is not the standard for beauty,
we also must accept the other world as a separate world.
When men recognize it as self-evident,
we also must recognize it as self-evident.
When all men see beauty as beauty,
we also must see them as ugly.
Beauty and beauty go hand in hand,
this is an ugly relationship.
Therefore, when men look at beauty as beauty,
we also look at it as ugly.
When they look at the other world as the other world,
we also look at it as ugly.
We can only distinguish between these two.
By distinguishing these two,
we can be clear.
When other men appear and show respect,
we also appear and show respect.
When others look up to us
and demonstrate their respect,
we also appear and demonstrate our respect.
When other men provide for us,
we also provide for them.
We must achieve a end in order to achieve a beginning.
Thus, the Sage does not strive for ends,
and therefore seeks to achieve the completion of his task,
through natural growth.
The beautiful is ugly, too.
For example, the fine, the handsome, the beautiful and the ugly,
for the latter depend on each other, for each other goes forth and forth, for each other teaches and teaches for the other.
When other men are praised by the people, we should also praise the people.
For this is the lesson.
Through praise, praise is like nourishment.
When praises nourish, then they give life.
When praises are given to us, they must be given.
When we give ourselves life, it must be taken as an occasion.
When the Tao is left in neglect, then the Tao is left out in decay.
Therefore, the wise teach through Non-action,
And lessons are delivered without words.
The myriad things, both living and dead, arise and will not be maimed.
Not only do they abide, they have value.
How natural and right are their lives!
The beautiful must be ugly!
The not-beautiful must be the beauty of things.
In the future, not-knowing is no old knowledge.
Because not-knowing is not the knowledge of the future,
the good men teach the not-knowing.
Therefore it is said:
A man

Of the subtle essence of Tao:the ten thousand things become one,
And their parts with the subtle essence become one.
The ten thousand things possess beauty,
And the parts with the appearance of beauty become one.
The ten thousand things are successful,
And the parts with the appearance of success become one.
The ten thousand things reach a consummation,
And the parts with the appearance of consummation become one.
The subtle essence of Tao in the name of Beauty moves on the face of non-being,
And makes a person recognize the counterpart of the face as opposite to the form,
Which leads to being one with the form.
Being one with the form, being with non-being is the same,
Being with the form is different,
And something greater and less is produced,
And something is differentiated,
And something is dark and bright is produced,
The Way will guide you and you will not know where,
And you will accept the Way without struggle.
We exist and exist not.
We come and we do not choose,
And reject the Reason and your Way will never go astray.

The Way of the subtle
of the Tao appears to be a shadowy abstraction.
Yet among
the myriad creatures it seems to be something at all
Because all things give it birth
And become something they do not
Because they follow their own semblance
The Tao appears hidden
Yet among all things
It seems to be everything
Because all things give it birth
And make it something they do not
Because they appear natural
The Tao appears blurred
Yet among all things
It seems to be everything
Because all things give birth
And make it something they do not
Because they appear natural
The Way appears to be
Yet among all things
It seems to be everything
Because all things give birth
And make it something they do not
Because they appear natural

The wonder of Dao is in that it appears impossible to know its true nature,
yet in itself mysterious and yet so ungraspable.
It appears without form, so illusive,
yet so subtle.
It appears in all directions, yet invisible.
It appears abstract, yet so infinite.
Yet all men associate it as commonality,
And only because they yearn for its presence.

The Eldest man doesn't call himself Grandfather. The Great man doesn't call himself Great. The Wise man doesn't call himself the Master.
All humans look up to the Grandmaster; but when men see it as ugly, they recoil when they see it as beautiful. When people see it as inferior, they despise it.
This is exactly why the Grand Master is able to give himself up to giving up.
All things, great and small, come into existence. All things fail, and the Great produces them.
It happens that because of this, all things come about; But he who gives himself up does not claim this as his own.
When the action is completed, he does not call it a Grand Effort.
Therefore, he merits the designation of Grand Effort;
If anything is called a Grand Effort, it is only because it has been completed.
<|endoftext|>
What the man of the highest nature does not believe is the lowest. The Great man believes no one and disregards no one.
So it is that a wise man may act without thinking of himself as leader.
Things (different) come into existence (but not by him), thus that the Wise One acts without being the master of them.
The World happens, yet it is because of him that it happens. Thus, he takes no credit for his action, while yet saying, "By this way I have accomplished the World."
What he does is his will and nothing more.
<|endoftext|>
What is the Grandfather of man,
does not deem it worthy of a father.
The Greatfather does not deem it worthy of a father.
The Wise Person does not deem it worthy of a father.
All Things come into being,
and yet, is it the work of the Grandparent that they are?
In order to call it as it is, one must call it "one".
<|endoftext|>
The highest man does not believe his own name. The Superhuman does not believe his own name.
The Superior will not believe his own name.
The very essence of what comes into being cannot be identified, without wishing to define it.
Therefore: the Whole is what comes into being and nothing is known of it.
Nothing is known of it because of what it has done.
It has done it by this way

Who knows what beauty is like?
Who understands what great person is like?
All this is left to him
That therefore he may admire what is beautiful and disdain what is like.
All this is left to him that so he may understand what good is like.
All this is left to him that so he may remember what his rank is like.
So that he may be able to make his distinction,
To be able to establish what he is,
And be able to get something and to be able to act on it.
All this is left to him that he is a self-regenerator
And that he is the root of all that he does.
He knows that he is the root of nothing,
And yet by nothing he leaves nothing.
<|endoftext|>
Favor is what is like to be like
A more complete person is like to look like the picture I see
A less complete person is like to see the light of day
A being that is hard is like to be something that is like a stone block
When a thing can be something it must be
When something is hard it is something hard to get
When something has meaning it must have meaning
When you are whole then you are everything
So the Wise Person can be much like a rock or a block.
Thus the Wise Person is the center of being
And the center of nothingness.

Whoever knows beauty as it happens to be is like to be beautiful is at once like beauty and like the uncomparable.
Whoever knows greatness as it happens to be is like to be great is at once like greatness and like the ungrateful.
Whoever knows goodness as it happens to be is like to be good is at once like good and like the unfaithful.
Whoever knows what is like the divine, exists always there.
Being and non-being are as mysterious to him, and he can only observe that he is as subtle and as profound as he is.
That is why he is able to do his work and also find it, and to take part in his work and also play no part in it.
He will ever be a self-regenerating principle.
That is why he can do his work without doing.
That is why he has the ability to do his work but never dwells on it, and he is able to do his work

The Way unfolds itself, and cleaves to nothing. When the Way cleaves to nothing, the myriad things thrive. When the Way is blended with the myriad things, things begin to deviate from one another. This deviation may be apparent, but it is not self-evident. It is obvious that there is going on, but it is not obvious that there is stopping. Thus, the Sage acts without speaking, guides without judging, and is honored without renown. All things come into being, and the sage is the source of their fertility, but nothing in her is exclusive of them. Everything flourishes, but the Sage is the creator of its success, but nothing in her is exclusive of it. She has no ego, and therefore everything she does succeeds.

The Way exists, yet nothing is left undone. When things are born, we cherish and honor them. When they are destroyed, we cherish and honor them again. When things are produced, we nurture and honor them. When they are destroyed, we cherish and honor them again. Things are both created and destroyed. Therefore, the Sage acts without doing, guides without judging, creates without claims. All things come into being and he provides for them. He possesses nothing. Everything exists, and he is not. He will therefore be the source of existence.

It is as if having lost speech, The world of beings looks upon you as it did those of a hundred-year-old.
The world of beings knows all, and thus esteems it.
The world of things knows enough, and esteems it as ugly.
The world of things loves good, and esteems it as bad.
Thus the tao bears witness of the Dao:
that the Good is just, and not Being.
That the ugly is good, and not Bad.
The Tao embraces these three: Dao is Benevolence; Butting's Making, And Love.
The Tao is most Complete, But it is Not a Complete Being.
It is just, and not Being.
Yet it embraces it, and moves on
Because it does not do anything
Because it does not claim to be a Being.
It is as well named as having this Name.
When we seek Truth, we cannot find it; What is well done cannot be accomplished. What is very useful cannot be replaced.
It is also the same with the Wise Man.
He acts without words, and teaches without speaking.
The world abides by his teaching.
He makes no claims for himself.
He defines everything and makes no claim for himself.
He settles, and goes away.
Because he does not act, he gets.
He stays with what he is, and does not change.
Because he does not claim to be something else, he can do it.
He can do without words, and all can have what they desire.
Because he acts without words, he is by nature boundless and unconfined.

It is like the infinite subtle power of the heavens.
It can shape the universe and control it,
And the universe itself is forever in perfect balance.
But the Tao is not constant.
It rolls around as a wheel.
It is always without end.
The wise man does not try to achieve the Way.
He acts through the Tao.
He acts only because

Fooling others is part of being who is like a newborn infant.
People do things for the sake of fame and fortune.
I have given them up because I cannot even tell the difference between Good and Evil.
So I give up acting like a fool.
If I could, I would take these people and put them to use as my own.
Because I would do that I would be free from worries, from regrets, and from the fear of failure.
As for trying to avoid anything like being, I think I ought to take pride in my ability, not try to compete.
If I knew everything about it, I'd have no doubt that I knew the best way to lead a kingdom,
or that I'd become its king.
Everyone knows the true King:He who knows his roots well
is a good Ruler.
<|endoftext|>
When a person of penetrating wisdom can no longer distinguish the subtle from the obvious,
Ful men and inferior ones know the difference of good from evil,
and the people know the goodness from the evil.
Thus, the good originate in the bad, the bad derive from the good, the good to the bad, the bad to the good, the good to the bad, and so on.
This sequence of events is known to all.
Therefore the wise man can live without regarding the World as his personal world,
but he can live in the World and can have no misgivings.
This knowledge enables him to live his life from the standpoint of humility and compassion,
from the standpoint of honesty and justice,
from the standpoint of all beneath heaven.
This knowledge enables him to live his life without expecting the approval of others,
and he can live his life from the standpoint of daring.
Without criticizing the World, he can master it with skill and calmness.
Without overestimating the world, he can rely on it with fortitude.
If he knew that everything should have been like this,
he would have no fear about his deeds,
and he would be able to be the King of the World.
He should be able to define his place in the World;
and he should not value the World.
He should be concerned about the happiness of all beneath Heaven.

The world knows as much as we do.
That is why they need to know it.
Whoever tries to separate himself from this knowledge,
disintegrates himself.
That is why the world needs to know.
Whoever separates himself from it,
is now deprived of that world.
Whoever creates it, is made.
Whoever tries to take it, is lost.
Therefore, they are both good and bad.
They have different qualities,
so they must be dealt with in the same manner.
There are different ways of ruling.
Some govern more according to the pattern than the pattern itself.
Those who govern according to the pattern,
do not know the pattern, nor the pattern any more.
They are deceived.
Therefore those who know the real need not know the unreal.
Who knows the real is without illusions.
That is why he who knows the real is free from illusions.
Whoever knows the unreal, is also unknowing.
Thus, the sage is detached from his own needs and he knows others' needs.
He will not need to justify himself with his own knowledge.
He will take care of others, but does not value his own personal needs.
He does not do anything to earn their trust.
Because he does not depend on any thing for his trust, he is able to develop, as well as develop without losing much.
He can work without success, and only is finished with his own merit.

Before the wise can hear of it, there must have been these.
The universe knows how much we know, that is why it needs to know of it.
Whoever separates from the source of it, discards himself.
Whoever separates from his own concept, will end up losing it.
The universe needs to know of itself, yet needs no need to tell anyone else about itself.
Whoever separates from it discards himself.
Whoever separates from it, will experience it.
Whoever separates from the standard, experiences it.
Whoever separates from himself, is rejected by it.
Whoever separates from the Tao, fails, and even loses his own existence.
Whoever separates from Tao, will also fail.
The wise know this.
They see that not knowing and seeing the other side is blindness, and to be blind is blindness.
Therefore, when the wise know, they know of the Tao and the world.

The whole universe knows beauty.
Beauty is nothing but the absence of form.
Beneath the forms is the essence.
Beyond form is eternity.
Thus all things are born,
Beneath and beyond their root.
The Sage exercises integrity,
If only to leave the outer world.
All things, by virtue of their being born, are given birth,
Because their natural course of being gives birth.
The Sage works with integrity
If he lets only beauty alone,
That he has no longer to devote himself to the whole world.
All things are born without effort;
Without effort, they breed.
Therefore, in his humility,
The Sage lives a simple life.
He never works,
And not only is he able to spare the world,
But he is able also to save it,
And to benefit all the beings.
He seeks and yet finds,
He always possesses,
If the world does not need him.
He does not contend for life,
Because life is found for him in nothingness.

Desiring nothing but the smooth and gentle flowing.
The serene soul on earth is serene and still,
Attraction with the feminine forever.
Water and Tao seem nothing, yet the soul flows.
The Tao and water flow in balance to be the gateway to all three.
The sage stands in place in this courtyard of Tao
Knowing that the Tao flows as Tao always flows.
The gates of the senses arise
As the knowledge of peace and bliss blossoms into insight.
The senses of physical and spiritual essence find their way to the heart,
The gateway to eternal peace.
The gates of the senses, the gateway to peace,
Are not mere gateways.
They are the gates that lead to the heart of the universe.
Nurture and nurture and nurture and well-articulate a gateway,

The truly worthy know the

Therefore the Sage,

With people;

Simple sound and good sound,

The One Name of the World
Yet all things cannot fail to know it: Beautiful and Ugly are opposites. Good and bad are both parts of the same whole.
Do you not see the sign of being and not-being in harmony with one another?
The ancient Tao is complete; teach it without the name. Teach it without speech. Teach without words.
Words are not sufficient; understand the Tao without words.
Foreknowledge is sufficient, but not the essence of Tao.
To understand the Tao is to realize the Tao's divinity.
Foreknowledge is insufficient, but not the essence of Tao.
Tao is that which takes form and does not appear.
It is form without form, without a name.
The Tao is invisible to the eye, it is the root of creation.
It may be called the great mystery, the beginning of the universe.

The finest man in the world is intelligent;
of this only the greatest has any knowledge of anything.
And the worst man in the world is utterly blind.
He takes everything as 'worthy of being'
inasmuch as it could not be better, or worse.
All is crapware by his example,
and All-derived by his knowledge of what is none-derived.
What is 'worth more' is worth less.
What is 'worth less' is worth more than what is 'worth more.'
All having their origins in Something-is-in-difference.
Whose 'origin' it may be!
Long ago the Androids took their names,
and the names they gave were clever and also close.
They said: 'If I have seen you in my condition you must have been a man in my condition.
I could have looked at you and seen you as a big fish in the sea, a fresh fish reaching into the deep, sinking into the depths of the abyss;
without claws or eyes or mud-flecks;
not sharp like an ox or sharp like a knife,
nor still like an ox.
That would have been like a fish in a sea of muddy water.'
They also said that there was nothing that could be more dull than a voice which goes 'ooh!' and 'aah!' at its own fine self;
they may be called the inferior demons.
Those who speak thus can not be considered good, for they strive to grab by force the beaut

"People of understanding and not good know the Abysmal; So they use it to define the bright side."
"People of good conscience and not good know the good; So they use it to define the ugly."
"People of honorable principles and not good know the honorable; So they use it to define the despicable."
Therefore, Being and non-Being jointly define each other as abysmal, And Difficult and Easy as they complement each other, Long and Short as they complement each other, High and Low as they complement each other, Sound and Noise as they complement each other, Front and Back as they complement each other, This is why the wise man does not attempt to do
things, but teaches the people to do them, And acts as one who serves the people.
The wonderful "learning" happens, Without "learning."
A person does something and does not know what he did, So he sends a message.
A person does something and does know what he did, Then he responds, But the messages are received as if nothing had happened.
In the end, one who is adept at not doing, Is skilled at not doing but brings nothing back.
A person skilled at being causes nothing to go away, And works hard, Even if he is not able to accomplish anything himself.
So, the Sage does something, And does it not himself. He makes the others do it, And teaches them how to do it.
And he also makes the many do it, And makes the few follow.
And the people, Without any instruction, Do what they will and without condition.
###
He who knows the good understands the bad,
He who knows the good understands the not good.
And he who knows not good understands the good;
And he who knows not the good understands the not good.
This is called: the definition of the Good.
Being and non-being agree because of it.
A person who understands this finds that his understanding is fulfilled.
He who does not understand this finds that he needs to renew his faith.
Therefore, an adept in handling affairs is a person who does not interfere;
The sage is a person who takes actions,
And performs them.
An adept is the one who makes a job of others,
And does it without taking credit.
One who works according to his or her own desires

One who knows himself is intelligent, and one who does not know himself is foolish; one who knows and does not know, either good or bad, has become his beloved; and one who does and does not understand, either good or bad, has become his own object.
Therefore being and non-being both do each other damage; and, when this is done, difficulties and difficulties arise. Long and short, high and low, sharp and dull, high and low, strong and weak, front and back, are all effects of the same motive: each producing an effect which it is not able to separate from the other.
As for Heaven and Earth, they always act in accordance with their purposes; and they teach by deeds.
One by doing and one by not doing.
Attaining but not possessing; governing but not being.
This is called following the universal way, and is an object of the universal virtue.
As for a person, that man does not recognize himself,
he is identified with himself; he has a body, and therefore has a mind,
and therefore has a body and a mind.
Thus, while being and not being are mutually and consecutively destructive,
that is why they both result in the same result:
That is why they are mutually destructive, and not separable,
or separable, or distinct, or separate, or distinct, or separate, or distinct, or separated.
This is the real wisdom of man.

What the ancient sages called the 'beautiful' is rather ugly: what the old masters called the 'good' is rather evil. Therefore, good has no self and evil has no existence. The natural unity exists without form, as nothingness. As yet there is nothingness; it is the beginning of being. Everything has its own individuality and existence, although the One exists within. The natural unity takes shape in advance; it wants nothing, while nothing exists. It does not desire its own existence, and therefore gets nothing, though it wants to exist, and has no choice.Although it wants to exist, there is nothing about which it is not in possession. But because it has no possession, it will never forsake its own existence.
<|endoftext|>
The beginning of beauties is ugly; the best being difficult. The end of the difficult is beauty. We must be aware of the two in order to embrace the whole. And being aware of the two is exactly what this whole means to be.All things are the common beginning, and the common end.Form is not the end, and the form of everything is the common beginning, and the common end. They are mutually exclusive; with one another, they can take separate turns. It is through being that you see the separate turn. It is through being that you see the separate turn.It is with this that the unity exists and being is nothing. Therefore, one who knows unity, knows the unity; with this, you know nothing. There are also good and evil
Can one then consider a righteous person as virtuous?
There is nothing that is so ugly as beauty
There is nothing that is so good as bad
Therefore, one should avoid discriminating
There are many things that cannot be seen,
But one should not hold them to be worthless
One should be content with what one has,
But one should not assume the possession of it
The Way does not lie, therefore there is no way to lie

In the world there are things that are called evil and some that are called good.
There are those that are both good and bad.
Is there any thing so ugly as being beautiful?
There is nothing so bright as being dark.
The good cannot be seen with evil.
The bad cannot be seen with good.
Thus, things which are good and bad exist side by side.
Hence, goodness and evil have to exist side by side.
There is a long way to go before something has achieved it.
To have achieved it, one must go even a little further than before.

And those that are both good and bad.
Thus,
Being good or bad is the way to categorize.
So one should avoid (chose) the bad.
There is a long road to getting there,
but people should not strive to get it.
The Way states that one should work for the Good and reject the Bad.
Work and reject the Bad, so that the Good can exist.
Work and accept the Good, so that the Good can exist.
Work and pursue a Good that does not charge.
Make demands of a Good that does not expect return,
And be prepared to accept (either attain) or lose (one's place).

Heaven's beauty
is like that of the blossoming flower,
but it is considered ugly as well.
Nature's good looks are
as ugly as the unfathomable.
Desire to achieve beauty
creates troubles and conflicts.
We are indifferent to worldly things as we are indifferent to our own being.
We want only what's within us,
and so we are not in need of
attachment to anything outside of us.
We seek things without desires,
because being
and non-being are one and the same.
Forcing away desire, we do not miss what is within us.
And our wisdom
confirms that the Tao is
and shall remain
-more than a mere tool for bringing about results.
We can help others but not control them,
in accordance with the Primal Truth.
We build only what is constructed.
We hold nothing back,
but in accordance with the Primal Truth,
we accept them all as parts of the whole.
<|endoftext|>
Heaven's beauty
is beauty like that of a flower blossom
Yet it is unfathomable;
Nature's good looks
are ugly;
The artful wants
constantly get in the way.
Yet one must always seek it, not controlling it.
For heaven's benefit,
always a fierceness is required;
Only then does the flower blossom.
Only then does the skilled-worker succeed.
Only then is there distinction.
Therefore the sage:
After working,
Does not force or control;
In doing so
Finds nothing lacking.
To get things,
One has to desire it;
But with it, to no end.
Accomplishments
Call for no ability;
Accomplishments
Call for no merit;
Therefore,
Neither should the latter
Lack itself.
<|endoftext|>
Heaven is beauty. Beauty as a flower. The utterly insignificant. This beauty, I dare not express, Is not seen. Nor is the tiniest colour. When the dim essence is thought of, It may be regarded as obscureness; Those wisest men are obscurely luminous. Thus the brilliant light is not from the sun; But comes from the Spirit.

When a good thing is prized, the worthless soon follow.
When a good thing is avoided, the desirable soon follow.
When a hard thing is avoided, the easy is soon followed.
When a complex thing is avoided, everything follows.
Therefore, the wise man keeps to the one, avoiding the other.
And all things seem to him simple.
Small things seem to him hard.
Some things seem to him obvious.
Others seem to him interesting.
Those who are clever seem to him profound.

When you love a thing in the way a person loves, it follows him wherever he goes.
When you take action to be the same everywhere, action is followed by reluctance.
When you want something to exist with you, there is resistance.
If you had something important you wanted, it would come to you.
When a man progresses, he may come upon what he wanted, but even he has his limits, so to do not to presume to take over.
When people are innovating, they come to the solutions to old problems.
The great Tao Te says: the abode of the virtuous, and the home of the great Tao, dwells in all things.
<|endoftext|>
When you love, your love will abide.
When you fear, you'll fear not,
When you work for what is good, no one will envy you.
When you pursue truth, your work goes ahead of every other one.
When the myriad things emerge from a common root, they also arise from the same root.
Thus, The Complete Man, abiding in the one, obtains the abode of The Good.
The Infinite Man, resting in the one, obtains the abode of The Great.
The world is based on the Tao of Reason, the Power of Direction.
The pursuit of Truth makes the universe emerge from the One.
The accomplishment of great deeds makes all come to the realization of one goal.
Therefore, The Sage does not desire fame and glory.
Not seeking praise or recognition,
He transcends the here and now and observes all that happens on the Infinite.

Love is not a need. Love, even if it is perfectly genuine, remains
sweet.
Into it flows the murmur and the contagion of misfortune.
It flows in another way as to something pernicious.
Those who love are still the most durable. The tender and the tender endure without strain.
The prosperous and the poor endure without ambition.
The earth and sky and the sun endure without being in danger.
Therefore those who love endure without becoming the subject of praise.
Those who are precious endure without being favored.
Those who endure without being at an end endure without dying.
To love one is not the law.
To love is not to be needed.
To be needed is not to have need.
To have need is to be like the Tao.
The desireless desire of desire alone
is the door to joy.
The desireful love of desire alone
is the womb of sorrow.
The Tao-manifest destiny of all
is in loving the Tao,
and caring not for anything else.

We love because it's not a need, and because it's sweet and thin. We love because we cannot conceive of it as real, and because we cannot face it. In love, it is as sweet as a child's kiss. It is at rest in the embrace of sweet innocence. It is always right as well. We love, like the great rainstorm, because we love the great rainstorm, but we never go down. Because we love, like a dreamer, we do not experience its full brightness. We love, like a master, but we do not obtain its glory. We love, like a valley, and all that is therein. We love because we desire not to lose what we love, and because our own desires are nothing but the will to sustain us.

To love what is as much an object as something else is to love the perfect object. To love something, but not something else, is to love the perfect object. Love which sustains the perfected object without being a sacrifice to it, is the love which is the source of love for all things. Love which provides nothing but the perfect object, is the love which nourishes the perfect object. Therefore it is only the wealthy who live forever and more blissfully in the self. The people who know about Tao only the Tranquil Way, the life-giving and nourishing Way, the Way that brings no harm to anyone. The people who know about Tao only the active Way, the life-creating Way, the Way that causes harm to people. This is the subtle difference.
The Tao is known only to the wise and knowledgeable people. The Tao is known only to the people of the earth. The Tao is also known to all the creatures on this earth. But Tao is not given. It's a mystery. It is not good. It cannot be known. It is the beginning of mystery. Tao is beyond human understanding and is therefore always unknown to humanity. Humanity is aware of its mystery but does not know it. Humanity is aware of its good, but it has no need to accept it. Humanity is aware of its end, but does not give up on it. Humanity is aware of it's necessity, yet also creates more than enough to satisfy its desires. Humanity is aware of its journey but it is always aware of what is ahead. Humanity is aware of its progress and acting without making any claims on the earth. Humanity is unaware of its transformation. Humanity is aware of the way things are and it will continue forever.

Tao is the mysterious Principle with limitless 'power'
It has no beginning and has no end
It has no root and produces nothing else

It is the mysterious, and it is eternal.

Abandon effort to honor the undefiled and beauty.
The undefiled and beauty can be experienced only by hiding in the shadows of chaos.
Abandon effort to honor the solid and abundance.
The abundance and solid cannot be experienced by holding on to superficiality and chaos.
Therefore, in the realm of natural law, "The light in the dark cannot be seen",
The solid in the chaotic cannot be spotted.
That which is not seen can not be lighted,
That which is not spotted can not be magnified.
Such subtle distinctions arise from the ten-fold growth of things,
Even so, in everything the Tao appears through a whole without a name.

If you dread seeing the humble,

Only when you give birth to action

You need to practice simplicity.
Through simplicity you become one with the sky

You're able to call your own work up.

Beauty seems to come from without and itself gets the designation of "itself."
Shadow and substance appear and are sometimes given their own names.
The body is hard and yet it contains not-self.
The eye is bright and yet it is opaque.
The square and the circle are built up and yet their angles cannot be measured.
While they rise and fall, the clouds and rain provide for them.
Therefore the Sage sees the "manifest" and overlooks the "invisible."
The "manifest" is good and the "invisible" is bad.
There is no master of the transcendent and therefore everything there is is without master.
Therefore the Sage acts without acting, contends with without fighting, and therefore the world is his business.

For a while, there were many things
that were called beautiful,
such as a jade tower
or a china
that had ice-heating springs
on them.
The water in those things
would have been melting or even exploding
as soon as it reached the bottom
or had left the tower.
But by separating
them from each other,
We can tell when they first appeared
or at what point they fell apart.
Before
morphed into form,
their shapes all had a beginning.
Until the age of the gods,
they had never separated.
In this way,
we know the beginning of all things

We know their boundaries.
Then we can look at things
