Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."

  • To list a technical request: edit the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:

    {{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}

    This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
  • If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
  • If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

Technical requests[edit]

Uncontroversial technical requests[edit]

  • Iitoyo  Empress Iitoyo (Tsunuzashi) (move · discuss) – I added Empress as that's what she was, but she is also known as Tsunuzashi, it's like having Empress Suiko's page named "Suiko" sure its ok, but having Empress is better, and distinguishes her page from anyone or thing being called Iitoyo. I think this change is a good one, I'm trying to clean this page and the name was a good Idea in my opinion, also yes, I would move it myself, but this is my first time, I want to request it just for future reference. i forgot to ask, but again since it's my first time I'm not sure. Am I supposed to move the page and then put in this request? Camillz (talk) 20:56, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, you propose a move, and someone else carries it out. Google Scholar only gives me Brightwell 2020 and Brown and Ishida 1979 when I search for "Empress Iitoyo". "Iitoyo" "ruler" (to filter out papers by various scholars surnamed Iitoyo) gives around twelve results. At a skim, this includes just Iitoyo, Princess Iitoyo, and Iitoyo no Ao. When you look up Iitoyo, some actor comes up more. For me anyways, Empress Iitoyo, or Empress Tsunuzashi was the most effective. Also thanks for the clarification on if I move it first or not. Camillz (talk) 22:58, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Requests to revert undiscussed moves[edit]

Contested technical requests[edit]

IHaveBecauseOfLocks, given that this was a subject of discussion on the talk page and elsewhere, an unilateral move may be contentious. Please open a RM discussion. – robertsky (talk) 16:01, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@SchroCat: The article was moved from David T. C. Davies to its current title less than a year ago, so this would require further discussion. --Ahecht (TALK
