Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests
Uncontroversial technical requests
- Greene's Tutorial College (currently a redirect to Greene's College Oxford) → Greene's College Oxford (move · discuss) – new name of schoool, rebranding/renaming of the school per school's website 2A02:1210:2C5A:AE00:8DEA:3397:14EA:74A3 (talk) 10:40, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
- DYD (disambiguation) (currently a redirect to DYD) → DYD (move · discuss) – No primary topic, like any other DAB page from Ykhwong. 2600:1006:B05C:30F3:F9D9:60A9:43F3:564A (talk) 14:03, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
Requests to revert undiscussed moves
Contested technical requests
- Friesland (disambiguation) → Friesland (move · discuss) – per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC and WP:NCLANG PK2 (talk) 13:30, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
- I don't agree with this, and have reverted the recent move from Friesland to Friesland (province). The province seems the primary topic for this Dutch/German term when rendered in English, given that the region is usually called Frisia. — Amakuru (talk) 13:45, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
- @PK2: This technical request has been contested. As such, it would require a requested-move discussion, which you can begin by clicking "discuss" on your request. You can remove this request after opening a discussion (or if you do not want to continue). I have also adjusted the discuss link to include requesting the now-reverted move Friesland → Friesland (province). SilverLocust 💬 21:59, 15 May 2024 (UTC)

- Ball (association football) → Football (association football) (currently a redirect back to Ball (association football)) (move · discuss) – Per MOS:BOLDLEAD. Neo Purgatorio (talk) 15:33, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
- Not uncontroversial. 162 etc. (talk) 15:42, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
- I'm not particularly sure how it's controversial. Three out of four of the bolded names in the lead contain "football." The entire article uses the word "football." Neo Purgatorio (talk) 15:48, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
- Because Football (association football) could refer to the sport itself? 162 etc. (talk) 16:05, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
